Lexay - Simplified flag
Being Gay but sometimes experiencing what might be attraction to women or other dissimilar genders, but not actually being sure if it's true attraction or not do, to trauma, intrusive thoughts, intense need for affection related to a mental disorder, hypersexuality, identity disturbance related to a mental disorder, or any other reason related to neurodivergence. Or experiencing attraction to women or other dissimilar genders specifically because of one(or more) of the reasons above.
Lexorbian - Simplified flag
Being lesbian but sometimes experiencing what might be attraction to men or other dissimilar genders, but not actually being sure if it's true attraction or not do, to trauma, intrusive thoughts, intense need for affection related to a mental disorder, hypersexuality, identity disturbance related to a mental disorder, or any other reason related to neurodivergence. Or experiencing attraction to men or other dissimilar genders specifically because of one(or more) of the reasons above.
Lexelian - Simplified flag
Being cenelian but sometimes experiencing what might be attraction to binary or dissimilar genders, but not actually being sure if it's true attraction or not, do to trauma, intrusive thoughts, intense need for affection related to a mental disorder, hypersexuality, identity disturbance related to a mental disorder, or any other reason related to neurodivergence. Or experiencing attraction to binary or other dissimilar genders specifically because of one(or more) of the reasons above.
Lexhet/Lexright - Simplified flag
Being hetero/straight but sometimes experiencing what might be attraction to the same or similar genders, but not actually being sure if it's true attraction or not, do to trauma, intrusive thoughts, intense need for affection related to a mental disorder, hypersexuality, identity disturbance related to a mental disorder, or any other reason related to neurodivergence. Or experiencing attraction to the same or similar genders specifically because of one(or more) of the reasons above.
Kinda like be Nebulasexual and Abasexual , but only for some genders. These could use these labels for one or multiple types of attraction, for example someone could lesbian for their romantic attraction and lexorbian their sexual attraction.
the names come from the Latin word perplexor, which you can probably guess what that word means.
In terms of flag design they're based off the homo/heteroflexible flags. With the center section using the color symbolism used on the bi flag, blue for attraction to dissimilar genders, pink/red for attraction to similar genders, although in this instance it's not inherently actually attraction. I also tried to make the overall colors of the flag look a little more "uncertain", if that makes any sense.

How does nonbinary in orientations work? I feel as a nonbinary/maverique person they should be included. But one criticism I see often is that you can't tell someone is nonbinary based on appearance, thus you can't be attracted to nonbinary people. Which doesn't entirely make sense to me, but I do see it often. Or that nonbinary attraction orientations should be limited to other nonbinary people using them, I don't have any opinion either way for this.
hi anon!
somehow i'm only seeing this now.
i made a post about this whole thing on my personal blog but i can't find it because tumblr's search is horrible.
but basically, for mspec orientations, nonbinary are already always included except for bi people who are specifically only into men and women.
as for other established orientations that kind of have a binary undertone, it's really up to the nonbinary person whether they want to be included or not. i think both "nonbinary people are included in all orientations" and "nonbinary people aren't included in all orientations" are incorrect because nonbinary people are not a monolith. nonbinary people can be included in every orientation. it's a potential rather than an inherent fact. that part of the discussion is actually something i talked about on my podcast, if you're at all interested to hear more.
as for orientations that are explicit in their attraction to nonbinary people, if they haven't literally been coined to mean nonbinary loving nonbinary, i don't see why binary people shouldn't be able to be attracted to us. i've seen some terms that previously just meant "attraction to nonbinary people", like cetero, be redefined as nonbinary loving nonbinary, but we already have terms for that (enbian, cenelian, in some ways diamoric), so i think it's unnecessary. this argument often comes from the idea that people who are attracted to us are automatically fetishising us. that argument seems exorsexist in and of itself as it's pretty much based on the idea that nonbinary people are undesirable and that no binary person could ever want us for who we are, which, speaking from personal experience, is not true. attraction to nonbinary people is no more or less fetishising than attraction to men or women, holding nonbinary people to weird different standards is messed up. i'm not sure why this line of thinking is so common among certain nonbinary folk.
you're absolutely right that the argument that you can't be attracted to nonbinary people because nonbinary doesn't have a look makes no sense. people seem to forget that manhood and womanhood don't have looks either, and that people often lose/gain attraction when they find out that someone is a certain gender. this idea also doesn't go that well with limiting these labels to nonbinary people only, because i frankly don't think i'm somehow better at telling that someone is nonbinary from their looks than a binary person. gender can't be seen, even binary gender, unless someone is literally wearing a t-shirt that says "i'm a woman". it's all about holding nonbinary people to different standards rather than treating us equally to men and women or about letting us have autonomy about where we want to be included.
