Me realizing I made a divine promise to my father without realizing it. *surprised pikachu*

(maybe even without him realizing it too, although knowing him I'm 98% sure he's aware of its divine nature)

Story under cut:

During a very vulnerable conversation between me and Gabriel years ago i had promised to never leave my soulmate (his son), no matter how intense or upsetting things got between us or in life.

I promised to not leave him and therefore our very interwoven families although I didn't realize at the time how large our family would grow to be.

I am now realizing that this was a divine promise, one I made before I knew what those were. But now that I do know, im even more inclined not to break it. Which is not hard. I love my family.

Although The fact that I made that kind of oath in the first place without realizing would be a bit scary if it was anyone other than Gabriel. But I trust my dad with this.

So im happy to now realize these words were binding.

Luckily mine was with my father, but for any listeners out there, make sure you know if you're sealing a divine deal or twisting yourself into a divine promise you shouldn't be making.

For those of you that wanted to see what the print looks like, this post is for you!!!!

There were, like, 5 different fonts/styles I ended up using. I honestly just messed around with Microsoft Word until I smooshed things on the page that kinda looked good with each other 😂

And here, you can see what the normal story page looks like, with the addition of what the binding looks like from the inside!!!

And, last but not least... At the very end of the books, I also added the little short stories from the series in chronological order!!

sometimes its really obvious how much people dont actually believe presentation=/=gender when they see their nonbinary friend go from extremely masculine to relaxing back into femininity once theyre comfortable with their gender and every time they call it detransitioning with zero indication thats what their friend is calling it. i dont know how to tell you this but sometimes you present a certain way for social reasons and not because thats how you actually feel. sometimes you experience dysphoria about your body that is actually related to how people view you and not how you feel about your body. i really dont think its that uncommon for trans people to swing really hard in one direction for the affirmation and then relax back into a different presentation once they are more comfortable in their gender

Some notes on some stuff

An update on creative pursuits:

I can now honestly admit that part of me never thought I'd be able to say this, BUT! Adore part 3 is now completely written. Let me be clear, at no point did I give up on hoping and wanting to finish it, but for a while in the past year it felt like an absolutely insurmountable task that I would never wrap my brain around. I want to give myself some time to sit with it, so it's not getting posted yet, but I will give a tentative, rough estimate of late March or early April for the first chapter. Surprise surprise, it's the longest instalment yet, at over 60k words.

Concerning binding and other transformative works:

I've had a few inquiries about binding Adore verse and I don't think I've answered most of them (sorry!), so I'll just say this:

I give blanket permission for anyone to create a binding, podfic, translation, or artwork of any of my stories. I don't even mind if you don't ask me first, as long as you tell me about it once you share it. In the case of bindings, I'd love to be sent a copy, if at all possible. In the case of any other works shared in online spaces, I'd just like for you to include a link back to the original work on AO3. And for translations, I'd prefer that it be kept on AO3 itself, because I really am not a fan of other fanfic hosting websites. If you have any other questions, feel free to shoot me a DM, and don't be shocked if it takes me several weeks to respond, because that's just how I roll.

my first book, bound!

this thing is a mess and i love every little part of it. i made my own bookcloth, sewed in the headbands, formatted and printed everything at home, with less than perfect materials, and even redid the whole text block after messing up trimming the first one. it was a learning experience that definitely taught me a lot.

this fic changed me, carved out a little space in my chest and has lived there since i first read it. it’s also been erased from the internet, and required some fandangling with the waybackmachine to ever check it out in the first place. i managed to scrounge the html file and turn it into an epub to read it initially, so making a physical copy of it was a no brainer.

it’s beautiful and heart warming and painful, and for some reason i knew it needed to look as battered as the characters felt. so when the fabric i bought for bookcloth turned out to be too thin and soaked up the glue in ugly splotches, i decided to keep it rather than go out and buy something new. when the paper i found for end pages ended up too small and misshapen, i left them. when i cut myself on my bookbinding needle partway through the second text block, i could have reprinted the signature, but decided i wanted to sew it in.

something about these wounds just aligned with the fic, to me. and now i have a real record of my first bind, errors and all, that i can’t wait to look back on in however many years from now.
