You were at the ADA office doing your work. Everybody is calmly doing their own paper work. The office was quiet and peaceful when suddenly Dazai burst the doors wide open, startling everyone. Dazai's headphones were blasting some songs, and his face had a pure happy smile.

He was slightly dancing and humming a melody. His hand had a small bouquet of flowers. He made his way towards you and gave you the flowers. You were dazed, yet flattered and had blushed cheeks. You smiled warmly as you held onto the bouquet. Dazai then puts his hands on top of yours

He looks into your eyes with a dramatic face and sings "🎶You're way too beautiful, girl. That's why it'll never work🎶"

He suddenly brought you to your feet, making you drop your bouquet on your desk while gasping as he waltzed you around the office. Everybody just stared at you two.

He then hugs you passionately. His hands are on your waist while he looks deeply into your eyes. They were literally sparkling with admiration. You were still pretty startled by this whole situation. He continued to sing, but with each second, he leaned closer to your lips.

Just as you two were about to kiss, Kunikida grabbed him by the collar and dragged him outside of the office. You heard some slapping noises and Kunikida yelling. You were left standing, blushing. You didn't know what just happened, but to calm things down, you just went back to your desk.

After awhile, Kunikida and Dazai came back into the office, acting like abuse didn't occur the second they were gone. They walked calmly into the office, but before Dazai walked past you, you grabbed his hand to get his attention.

He looked at you like a curious cat. "Thank you," you said softly with a smile. He felt his heart skip a beat and started to blush. He kissed the back of your hand as he smirked, "Of course, my belladonna."

My Dazatsu Week entries. I had hoped to do at least 4, but ended up doing 12😳 It was a lot of fun😆

Day 1 - Coffee shop/Soulmate AU bounded by destiny Dazai’s eyes widened in surprise. “I never expected to meet you.” The majority of people never got to meet their soulmate. It was a rare occurrence that only a select few ever got to experience.

Day 2 - Band AU Best Kept Secret Dazai leaned over the couch and read one of the tweets and grinned, “Atsushi’s partner must be amazing! #couplegoals”

Atsushi nearly leapt off his seat from fright. He hadn't heard his boyfriend come home. "Osamu, you nearly gave me a heart attack.”

Dazai kissed Atsushi’s cheek and climbed over the couch to cuddle up beside him. “Our fans would be the only ones having a heart attack if they knew the truth. Like, look at the username of that account - 'ihatedazai'. They wrote, ‘It's obvious, whoever it is, they're the best person for Atsushi. They make him incredibly happy!' If only they knew it was me.”

Day 2 - holding hands we're not like that "How long have you been dating Atsushi?" Chuuya questioned.

Dazai nearly tripped over his own feet at the question. “What?! I’m not dating Atsushi-kun.” He hoped the blush wasn't noticeable on his face.

Day 3 - Sunset It Began at Sunset Dazai had become pretty distant from Atsushi, so when he receives a message from his boyfriend saying 'they needed to talk,' of course he's going to think the worst.

Day 3 - High School AU Gossip "Why would Dazai-sensei date someone like Nakajima-sensei?”

“Akutagawa-senpei, you've got to have noticed the way Dazai-sensei looks at him.” Higuchi happily sighed. She wanted a relationship where someone would gaze at her with even half of the admiration Dazai had when he looked at Nakajima.

“Tch, if anyone is sneaking looks, it's Nakajima-sensei.” Akutagawa didn't understand why most of the students were so invested in finding out if Dazai and Nakajima were dating.

Day 3 - Amnesia I want this life Dazai ran his hand through his hair but stopped when he felt something cool on his finger. Dazai's eyes widened in disbelief when he saw a gold band on his ring finger. It couldn't possibly be a wedding ring? Was Ranpo pranking him? Was he still annoyed with Dazai for stealing one of his snacks, and was this his little act of revenge?

Day 4 - sic fic Fever Confession When Dazai calls in sick, Kunikida sends Atsushi to check in on him. Day 5 - Beast AU future is bright Since Dazai triggered the singularity that connected him to the other universe, he's been having a difficult time thinking about anything else. Being able to read the memories of the other Dazai and seeing how happy Atsushi was in that world made his heart ache. Dazai had never seen his Atsushi's smile shine so brightly before, as he did in the memories of the other Dazai. Day 6 - Reunion Deal Breaker Atsushi had never felt so nervous as he stood in front of his new boss, Mori Ougai. When he first heard that a member of the agency had to transfer to the Port Mafia, he could hardly believe it, and he would never forget the silence of the agency when Fukuzawa announced Mori had chosen him. Day 6 - Reunion give me a sign “I don’t know how I can keep doing this, Dazai-san.” Atsushi buried his face in his hands. “I'm trying to be strong and hold on to hope, but I've heard nothing.”

“If I just knew if you were alive…” It would give Atsushi the strength to keep going.

Day 7 - Post Canon I will tell you as many times as it takes for you to believe it “Just tell him.” Ranpo commented as he skimmed through a report.

“I can’t do that, Ranpo-san.” Dazai mumbled.

Ranpo rolled his eyes and put aside the report he was reading. “And why not?”

“Atsushi-kun doesn’t like me in that way.” Day 7 - Free Day Isn't he pretty? “Dazai! That’s the boss of the Port Mafia.” Kunikida whispered harshly.

“But more importantly, he’s my boyfriend.” Dazai beamed. “Isn’t he pretty?”

But hey, he tried at the very least. All morning his dropping the cheesiest and romantic poems out of the book. They probably make S/O laugh more then anything but its still a thoughtful gesture.

~The cheese factor doesn’t decrease at the ADA (much to Kunikida’s dismay). Expect to be peeked along the lips and cheeks a lot more then any other day of the week.

Fukuzawa rejects his offer, leaving Fitzgerald bitter. As he leaves the Agency, he spots you working at your desk. You looked almost exactly like his ex-wife Zelda, but with different hair color and minor facial features. He stood there in awe of your beauty. He thinks about speaking with you but doesn't want to overstay his welcome.

Fitzgerald is looking at the city from his luxurious cruiser. He is thinking about you. You remind him so much of his ex-wife Zelda. He was completely heartbroken when Zelda filed for divorce. He was too busy prioritizing finding the Book and trying to take over Yokohama that he completely neglected her. He sighs and takes a sip of his champagne. "I wonder how she is doing?" You won't leave his mind. He hopes he can speak with you outside of work. As days go by, you won't leave his head. All he can think about is how beautiful you are compared to any woman he's seen. You look a lot like his beloved Zelda. Any time he spots you around the city his heart flutters with joy. He hired people to spy on you and report to him any useful information about you. He writes everything down about you in his journal. Photos of you are framed in his office and bedroom. You have completely consumed his life. Every waking moment is filled with thoughts about you. What he didn't expect was for you to be a married woman.

You are walking through the streets of Yokohama doing some shopping. You were checking your phone and failed to notice the person in front of you. You bump into them causing you to drop your phone. "Ah my apologies! I was distracted by my phone and didn't see you in front of me." The person turns around and you see it's the leader of The Guild, Francis Fitzgerald. "I hope you are alright." He picks up your broken phone from the ground. "I believe this is yours." He hands you the broken phone. "It looks like it didn't survive the fall. I could buy you a new one if you like." He gives you a smile. Your eyes widened for a second when he offered to buy a new phone. "Oh no thank you but I appreciate the offer, sir." Fitzgerald gets a bit peeved that you rejected his offer but since you look pretty, he lets it slide. "No need to call me sir. Please call me Francis." He takes your hand and kisses it. He looks directly into your eyes admiring how beautiful they look. You blush when he kisses your hand. "No need for the formalities. Please call me Francis." He slowly lets go of your hand and he sees a wedding ring on your finger. You can't possibly be married. He assumed you were single by the way you acted. Fitzgerald feels his heart crack looking at the wedding ring. "Ah there you are my love." Kunikida approaches you with a bag in his hand. He freezes when he sees you speaking with the Guild leader. "Excuse me sir, why are you speaking to my wife?" Fitzgerald looks up to see your husband, Kunikida standing behind you. His heart fills with malice when he sees Kunikida. "My apologies sir. Your lovely wife accidentally bumped into me. I was making sure she was ok." Kunikida doesn't buy his excuse and takes your hand. "It was nice speaking to you sir but we must leave. We have errands to run today." Kunikida leads you away from Fitzgerald. He stares at you as you walk away with your husband. He isn't too happy to know that his precious princess is already married to some nobody. He walks away thinking of a way to make you belong to him.

You are cleaning your apartment to get ready for your anniversary dinner with Kunikida. You make sure everything is neat and tidy for the special occasion. There is a knock on the door and you go to open it. The last thing you see is a tall man. You wake up a few hours later in an unfamiliar room. Everything looks very elegant and expensive. "Good morning my dearest." You turn your head to see Fitzgerald sitting on a chair next to the bed. "You slept through the entire trip. There was a lot of beautiful scenery you missed while you had your beauty sleep." He grabs your chin to make you look at him directly into his eyes. You can feel his piercing blue eyes staring directly into your soul. "Where am I and what do you want with me?" He chuckles when he hears your questions. "My dearest you're in my mansion, you're new home. You don't have to worry about money ever again. Anything you want will be handed to you on a silver platter." He takes your hand to kiss it. "My dearest, we will have the most beautiful wedding soon. I can't wait to be your loving husband." You shove him away in disgust. "I don't want to be your wife. I'm already married! Where is my husband Kunikida?" You stare at him intently waiting for his answer. "Oh that nobody? I made sure he is out of the picture. He won't be coming to save you at all." Fitzgerald's demeanor changed as he stood up from the chair. "You belong to me now and that's final. If you dare leave the mansion grounds, I will pay good money to track you down and have you brought back. It doesn't matter where you are in the world because you will come back to me. You are mine now." A wave of disgust and fear hits you. There is no escape from this man.

Fitzgerald has tried everything in his power to make you happy. He bought you a new car, clothes, the ice cream shop you like, pets, a vacation home, and anything you like. It just wasn't enough. No matter how many vacations or the fancy restaurant reservations he takes you to, it doesn't make you happy. He begs you to love him back. All he wants is his feelings to be reciprocated back to him. He refuses to let you go even if you don't love him back.

Kunikida hasn't been the same since you disappeared. He desperately handed out flyers to people, hung them up on the streets, and had the Agency help him out. All leads were just dead ends. Everyone at the Agency is worried about his mental well-being. They tried to console him the best they could but it wasn't enough to bring his wife back. Kunikida arrived at his apartment after a long day at work. He sees he has mail and takes it out of the box. He sees a letter with no return address. He opens it up to see photos of you. Kunikida's heart races as he looks at the photos. It was wedding photos of you and Fitzgerald. You looked completely miserable and a shell of your former self. This is the 50th letter he's gotten since you disappeared and each letter he gets taunted by that man. He breaks down crying on his apartment floor. He can't bear the thought of you being with someone else. He failed to protect you on your anniversary and now you are in a different country with a man you don't love. Kunikida will never forgive himself for letting you go so easily

Beast cover details I noticed

I didn't have this analysis in plans, but as the hq cover of Beast dropped, and everyone's been in a cover analysis craze the past few days (which is fantastic), I thought well I might as well share my thoughts with the world. It'll be very loose and casual, just me pointing some stuff that everyone has already noticed.

I really want to dissect all the photographs that appear on the cover, because I think most of them can be traced back to certain events. First, let's start with the overall theme, and that is everyone who had an impact on the main universe Dazai (who I'm going to call og Dazai). We can look at it both as people who og Dazai cares about (or at least they had some sort of significance in his life, because the extention of his care is debatable) or people who care about og Dazai (same thing here), which also means that they are important to Beast Dazai who based the Beast universe on them as well.

The first important picture is of Akutagawa looking to the side in a somber way. It has the same atmosphere as the picture that Kunikida showed Atsushi back in chapter 3, but it's a pretty regular expression for Akutagawa, so I don't think it matters or was even taken into account while creating the cover.

The second picture is obviously the cover of volume 1 showing the Agency. At first I thought Ranpo was missing, but after a further inspection it's actually Yosano who got cut off. As far as I'm concerned, she's nowhere to be found on this cover, which is weird considering that all the other members have at least one appearance. I know it's probably not to make the cover too cluttered (and the fact that these photographs aren't wide enough for her too fit), but still. I like overthinking stuff, you know.

The next picture is Chuuya. I don't think it has any specific origin and it's also partially covered, but I reminds me of that one panel from chapter 10 in a less angry version while still keeping one eyes hidden (basically being flipped). However, it's Chuuya we're talking about, so he does that pose a lot (still just the thought of Dazai remembering Chuuya as a softer person than he actually is = food for my skk heart). Seeing Chuuya be one of the central pieces on this cover just makes me really happy. They're important to each other, no matter how you look at it.

Another picture featured here is of Mori and Fukuzawa possibly a callback to chapter 30, though I don't think we've seen them standing this close. I like how it's basically a staredown of two of his bosses, one who gave him a place in the Port Mafia and was in general terrible, and the the other who gave him a place in the Agency to become better and find inner peace. Both were important, but in vastly different ways, so putting them against each other is kind of like a representation of two sides of Dazai - the good one and the bad one.

Right next to the picture of Mori and Fukuzawa, there's Atsushi covering half his face which is the exact pose he makes on the cover of volume 10. It's Atsushi's second appearence on the cover and in contrast to the group photo, here he's in his battle stance. Just a cool detail.

A little above it, there's Kunikida in a battle stance as well. Both Atsushi and Kunikida are main fighters in the ADA, so it makes sense that they are portrayed as such. I feel like these single photographs (or however I should call it) are meant to highlight the people who had a really close connection to Dazai. I'll come back to this idea in a minute, but I wanted to point it out here, while we're at it.

On the opposite side of the cover, we have more pictures. The obvious one is the one with the Tanizaki siblings with Naomi hugging her brother and smiling widely, while he is blushing and uncomfortable. I mean that's just them in canon all the time, you guys know I don't like to really talk about what is going on with them, but I'm pretty sure it's the scene from chapter 2, so I'll leave it at that. Right above them, there's a picture that I can't quite pin-point what it can represent. Is it the og Dazai? Someone else? No idea here.

What I think is more important, is the film strip showing Beast Akutagawa, because it's the only picture showing a character strictly from the Beast universe. I think this may be the reason why it's different than the rest of the photos to distinguish between the main universe and the Beast one. Besides that Akutagawa looks so cute here.

Going to the top of the cover, we have the famous photo of Ango, Oda and Dazai but with only Ango and partially Oda visible. It'll sound like I'm pulling it out of my left boot, but I think it symbolises how Ango was a spy and someone who hasn't had the proof of themselves erased. Both the main manga and "55 Minutes" suggest that the Department (which is Ango and the rest) did something to erase the proof that Oda existed, and they also got rid of all the evidence that Dazai commited crime as a member of the Mafia, so he could start a new life. That's not confirmed, but highly suggested. And because of that Ango being the only one of the 3 of them visible might be meant to show that he's the only one not hiding his PM days. You could say: well, it's just a picture, but taking into account how crucial this friendship was in the original timeline, I feel like logically it would be showcased more on the cover if the creator wanted to go for it. But as I said, I do like to overthink stuff, so it's probably the lack of space on the cover haha

The photo I left for last is obviously Oda (I cannot put the cropped close-up due to the 10 pictures only rule, but you know which one I'm taking about). It can be both the ADA Oda and the PM Oda thanks to the filter, but either way it's the person this whole story is inspired by. The whole Beast novel is Dazai trying to make a world for Oda to live, so it's fitting that a picture of him takes up a lot of space on the cover. It's also placed on the right side where Dazai is hiding his eye under bandages which may be a callback to his time in the og Port Mafia (and the fact that Oda was the one who ripped the bandage off, though it wasn't present in the light novel, just in the anime). As I said before, I feel like single shots are meant to highlight the people who had an impact on og Dazai's life: Akutagawa, Chuuya, Kunikida, Atsushi and of course Oda all brought something important into Dazai's life with Chuuya and Kunikida being his partners, Akutagawa and Atsushi his students and Oda his best friend (and partially Ango who doesn't get a full single photo for being a traitor I guess).

The last thing I want to quickly talk about is the overall atmosphere of this cover, because - let's be real - it's beautiful and without a doubt one of the best bsd covers. First things first, I love the colours. There's somthing really nostalgic about this combination of purple and blue. This combination in its pastel glory is such a good aesthetic for the final cover. Then we have Dazai's sad, yet pretty expression and I feel like these fake scratches on the cover were purposelly made to resemble tears, which is very fitting since everyone's crying. The emotion captured here really speaks for itself and if anyone is to look at this cover, they'll immediately know it's going to be a heart-breaking story, which it is (so many emotions ah). Lastly I want to mention the bandages used to symbolize how close Dazai is with someone in the anime openings and endings. Here they unwrap arround him and surround all the pictures which shows how much Beast Dazai craves connection and happiness of these people.

Truly tragic just like the story itself.

Only a couple of months ago, you and Dazai started dating. But already, things were moving somewhat quickly. You two were already staying over at each other's apartments and well, having "adult time" together.

It didn't bother you, nor did it bother Dazai, since he was the one making the fast approaches. But some days, it did make him feel like he should slow things down with you.

After all, he did appreciate your presence. He always did. He didn't have to drown himself in alcohol whenever he had his low days anymore. Instead he could more healthily manage it. Which he did by just cuddling with you in bed, or just simply being in your presence. It made the loneliness inside his heart feel less uncomfortable. Sure, he wasn't the kind of person to vent and talk to someone about his feelings, so he's never really told you exactly why he was experiencing these low points, and you respected that.

Today was one of those times when Dazai had those low points. All day Kunikida was nagging him to get his work done, and Dazai had to admit he probably should've gotten started on his work sooner, because his work piled up over time. Which resulted in him having to stay at the office a bit later than usual to get himself caught up to his paper work. Leading to a very stressed Dazai, then eventually, at the end of the day, his stress lead to him having one of his low points. Where his mind constantly thought back to his dark past.

But when he got back from his long, exhausting day at work, he wasn't greeted with a ton of alcoholic beverages. He didn't have to drink his feelings away. Instead he had you.

"Osamu, you're back!" You beamed brightly when he opened the door.

Usually, when he was around you, he put down his eccentric mask, and showed you the slightest hint of his true nature. But for some reason, when he came through the door, he still had his mask up.

"Ah, f/n! I see you've missed me!" Dazai said with a smile. He was happy to see you, so his smile wasn't completely fake.

You both embraced each other in a large hug. You didn't know it, but everytime you two shared physical contact, it made Dazai's chest melt. Almost as if everything was immediately better after your touch.

"You got home a bit late. Is everything okay?" You asked. Usually, Dazai was home early, expect for when he was taking on bigger cases, and he'd always tell you when he was. But you didn't receive any calls or texts from him telling you he'd be home a bit late. "I got a bit worried..." You continued.

Dazai let out a small chuckle. "Sorry love, but I was busy catching up to some work. Kunikida would've kept nagging me if I didn't." You couldn't really tell between his real smiles and forced one, but the smile he wore now did seem a bit strained.

"Are you sure? You didn't get caught up in any dangerous work this time did you?" You asked.

"I'm sure, I was in the office the whole night. You know, doing more boring work." Dazai reassured you.

"Okay..." You didn't press the topic any further. Instead you burried your face deeper into his chest You felt him squeezing your body tighter, and your heart started racing due to his sudden actions. You both held each other in comfortable silence.

"F/N..." Dazai called your name in an almost whisper voice.

"Hm?" You looked up at him, and you could've sworn you saw a faint blush on his cheek. Something you've never seen him do before.

"Ahhh... It's nothing." Dazai flashed you a large grin. To you, it appeared to be more genuine than the first one he showed you tonight.

"Hey, you know, I was just about to get started on dinner!" You shouted, changing the subject.

Dazai let out a small chuckle, "That's great love".

"Come inside already! So we can get started!" You shouted again, and you grabbed Dazai's hands. Leading him inside the house.

Whether you were good in the kitchen or not, you'd still do most of the cooking, since it was relatively well known that Dazai couldn't cook.

Before you came along, Dazai didn't even cook much when he was by himself. So he didn't eat much, and he drank too much. He usually just lived off of alcohol and canned crab.

You walked towards the kitchen, and Dazai followed right behind you. "I'm lucky to have my belladonna around to cook for me." You turned around and saw him grinning behind you. When you turned around, he gently grabbed your cheeks, and he leaned closer. You felt your cheeks being tinted with blush, and when he finally kissed you. His lips felt soft against your cheeks. Almost like a plush toy.

"Y-yeah..." was all you could mutter out of your mouth. The red tint of blush eventually got darker, and Dazai definitely noticed. He let out a small chuckle, and squished your cheeks with his hands.

"Embarrassed aren't we?" You saw him smirking, and you couldn't help but swat his hands off your face.

Teasing was definitely a given in a relationship with Dazai. He would always try to get you flustered, and tease you over it. You'd try to do the same but you still haven't managed to make him flustered back.

"If you keep teasing me like that I won't make you dinner!" You threatened.

Dazai gasped dramatically, and placed his palm on his forehead. "You wouldn't actually make me starve, would you???"

"Maybe I would!" You slightly raised your voice.

Again, Dazai let out a dramatic gasp. "I can't believe my belladonna would do something so cruel!"

You rolled your eyes at him, and said "I'm gonna start cooking now!"

As you headed into the kitchen, Dazai just simply watched you from afar. He immediately switched from his goofy "facade" to his more serious, and quiet side.

He was joking around with you just now, but on the inside, he couldn't help but feel like you'd deserve someone else. Not the criminal behind 136 unsolved murders. How could you, someone so kind and innocent, love him? Someone with some much blood on his hands.

Sure, you didn’t exactly know just how “evil” Dazai truly was back when he was still with the mafia, But you did know that he used to murder people, and Dazai was afraid that one day, when you did find out just how cruel he used to be, you’d end up hating him, and leave him.

Is what he always thought to himself. Either you'll leave him when you find out just how horrible of a person he is, or you'll die like Odasaku.

But she isn't gone just yet... Maybe I should indulge in that a bit...

He walked into the kitchen, and he saw you bringing out the ingredients for dinner. He snuck up behind you, and then grabbed you by the waist.

You gasped at his sudden actions. "Osamu...?" You whispered.

Still holding your waist, he turned your body around, and pressed your back against the kitchen counter. You then felt him nibbling your neck, and you gasped again. Throwing your head back slightly.

"Osamu... What are you-"

Dazai placed his finger on your lips to stop your sentence. "I had a long day in the boring office remember? So let me have a bit of fun with your body tonight." Dazai smirked, as he began to caress your thighs.

Your body shivered, and you started blushing thinking about what was gonna happen next. "That's... Okay..." You gave Dazai permission to go further, and he wasted no time lifting you up so you're sitting on the kitchen counter.

You couldn't even process what was happening, and you didn't even get to catch a glimpse of his face before he so instantaneously kissed you deeply, and you felt his tongue in your mouth. It all happened so quickly, you couldn't focus on how you got here, you could only focus on his wet tongue that plunged into your mouth. It had enough power to force you back against the cabit behind your head, where you were rendered helpless with your eyes shut tightly. All you could focus on was his tongue inside of you.

He eventually parted his lips from yours, and you were left panting heavily. Your heart pounds as if it were a train on the tracks, and Dazai definitely took notice of that.

"Wanna take this even further?" Dazai asked.

Before you could reply, you began to fidget with your clothes, and stared at the kitchen floor. You could feel your cheeks heating up and turning red when you thought about what was gonna happen next. "Yeah..." You finally answered.

"Great! I think I'll take you right here." Dazai chuckled. You were still hoisted on top of the kitchen counter, and you felt him press onto your thighs in order to keep you still.

You let out a whimper, and Dazai immediately kissed you. It was gentle though, like a feather.

"Oh, this is only the beginning darling..." He whispered to you.

He was already enjoying himself though, and in all honesty, you were too. Even anticipating for what would come next.

Before you came along, he would probably be drowning himself in alcohol, and his feelings would've ended up spiraling into something even worse. He felt down almost every single minute of his life, and he desperately tried searching for a reason to live during these time periods.

But now he didn't have to drown his feelings in alcohol anymore, constantly asking himself what was the meaning to this thing we called life?

Maybe, he thought to himself, you were his reason for living.
