A/N: So, I watched the new Fire Country and was annoyed at the lack of Bode whump. So here's a little something with my ideal version of how that scene in the woods would have gone down (with Vince having managed to actually keep Sharon from going to the fire which was definitely a trap). Spoilers-ish for 1x11, Mama Bear xxx Bode wants to kill him.
He wants to kill Odin.
He’s been angry before. Hell, he’s spent years of his life angry. Had plenty of reason to be, too. But never, ever has he felt fury like this, hot and raging inside of him like a living thing and he wants to destroy the man who’s threatening his family, both blood and found. Who’d almost killed Dolly and Paulie. Who’d set fire to the place that’s become something like home.
Who’d tried to hurt his mother.
He wants to hit him until there’s nothing left.
Before he can, though, someone is grabbing him from behind, holding onto his raised arm, preventing him from landing a blow.
“No, no. B.” Surprise finds its way through the blinding anger as Bode realizes it’s Jake that’s speaking, his words breathless but firm as he keeps his grip on Bode’s arm. “Hey, listen. You hit him, and you become him.”
The rage is still burning and Bode tries again to hit the man on the ground. Jake still knows him, though, despite everything, and he must sense it coming because his grip tightens before Bode even has the chance to move and all he manages is a small jerk of his arm.
“Bode!” Jake is almost desperate now. “Hey. That is exactly what he wants. To take away your chance at the life you deserve. I swear to god, don’t you let him.”
Jake’s words somehow cut through the rage, and Bode finds himself calming enough to speak. “He wants to hurt my mom.”
“I know. I know, but we won’t let him,” Jake says, and Bode allows himself to be pulled backwards as two police officers run forward, dragging Odin to his feet and cuffing him. “See, the police are here, okay? He’s not going anywh--oh my god. Bode. You’re gonna be okay.”
Bode frowns in confusion at Jake's sudden shift in demeanor. “What?”
He looks down, following Jake’s wide-eyed gaze, and his eyes land on the small knife handle sticking out of the middle of his left side, wet dark blooming out around it, staining the orange of his uniform a deep crimson. Bode’s hands shake slightly as his right one reaches up, fingers wrapping around the cold metal.
“Wait, Bode, don’t--” Jake begins, but Bode is already pulling.
That’s when the pain hits. He’d had too much adrenaline before to notice the knife but shit he notices it now and he lets out a pained grunt as the knife slips from his grasp and hits the dirt. Blood starts flowing in earnest now, and Bode is hit with a sudden wave of dizziness.
“Oh, shit.”
“Okay, B, easy. Easy,” Jake says, easing Bode back so that he’s lying on the ground. Bode groans as Jake puts pressure on the wound, squirming slightly under his touch.“Hey, I need some help over here! Someone call an ambulance!”
There’s the sound of running footsteps, and then Manny says, “Bode? What the hell happened? Oh, geez…”
“Cap,” Bode gasps, looking up at the concerned face hovering above him. “Go--go get Gabby, please. Keep 'er away. She doesn’t n-need to see this.”
“I’m not leavin’ your side, Bode.”
“Please.”
“I got ‘im, Cap,” Jake says. “Bode’s right, Gabby doesn’t need this right now.”
Manny stares at him for a long moment and then nods. “Okay. Okay, Jake, but you--you don’t--” He swallows hard and lets out a loud breath.
“I’ve got him,” Jake says firmly, "and we need a first-aid kit over here." Manny nods again before standing and walking out of the clearing. Jake watches him for a moment and then turns back to Bode. “How we doin’?”
“Hurts,” Bode says. “ But ‘ve had worse.”
Jake snorts. "Yeah, okay tough guy."
The circumstances are… less than ideal, but in that moment things almost feel the way they used to, and Bode feels a pang of something close to regret. He's about to say something when there's a sudden commotion, and he can hear the sounds of yelling and branches breaking. He tries to sit up but Jake quickly puts a hand on his chest, keeping him down.
"Whoa, hey. Steady there," Jake says. "It's just your crew."
"They okay?" Bode asks, trying to ignore the worsening pain as he grabs Jake’s wrist, trying and failing to move his hand. He cranes his neck as much as he can manage. "Someone hurt?"
"No, B, they're fine. Fire’s out. They're just worried about you, man. You're the one who's hurt, remember? So you need to stay still so I can keep pressure on it, right?”
Bode frowns slightly. He’s not hurt that bad, and his guys need him. Jake takes his hand off of his chest and moves it back to keep pressure on the stab wound, and Bode seizes the opportunity to try and sit up. He regrets it immediately--the pain is deep and sharp, and he lets out a cry, his vision going black at the edges as he falls back into the dirt.
“Damn it, Bode, stay still!” Jake cries, as another familiar voice says, sounding distant and strange, “Oh my god. I--I got the first-aid kit. Is he okay?”
“Thanks, Freddy,” Jake says. “I need you to get out some gauze for me while I keep pressure, okay? Bode--Jesus--you still with me?”
Bode’s heart is pounding, breath coming in small gasps, but he manages a nod.
“Do you believe me now?” Jake sounds like he’s trying to sound angry, but his worry is too obvious for Bode to buy it.
Bode doesn’t say it, but the answer is yes. It’s starting to sink in that maybe Jake is right about him needing to stay still. Even as Jake presses gauze to the hole, Bode can feel the blood soaking his jumpsuit, can feel his own hands growing cold.
“It’s bad, isn’t it,” he finally says.
“You’ll be fine.” It’s Freddy that says it, but he sounds terrified and not at all reassuring.
“He’s right,” Jake agrees. He sounds only marginally more sure. “You’ve just gotta hang in there til the ambo gets here.”
“It’s--it’s bad,” Bode repeats, and his heart sinks as realization hits him like a ton of bricks. “Oh my god, I fucked up.” He barely gets the words out before the tears start, feeling hot against his cool skin.
“Whoa, whoa, whoa. Bode, hey! What’s goin’ on, man? You’re gonna be okay!”
Bode squeezes his eyes shut tight in an attempt to stop the tears, then looks back up at Jake with watery eyes. “No, you don’t--you don’t understand. I--I got tested to see--to see if…”
“To see if you’re a match,” Jake finishes. “Bode, you can’t think about that right now, okay? You have to focus on you.”
“What if I’m a match and I can’t--oh god, I never should’ve g’n after him…” His tongue feels thick and heavy, and the words come out slurred and strange. He blinks heavily, and he can feel unconsciousness pulling at him.
“No. No, Bode! Don’t sleep! Stay awake, damn you!”
Freddy’s voice joins Jake’s, frantic and loud. “Bode, stay awake!”
Bode forces his eyes open, fighting against the darkness at the edges of his vision, the sick dizziness that makes him want to close his eyes to get away from it.
“Tell my parents--”
“Bode, no--”
“Jake, you gotta…tell my parents ‘m sorry.”
There are hands on his face and shoulders, shaking him, voices saying his name, but there’s nothing he can do to keep from slipping into oblivion.

Cherry Lip Gloss- Luke Castellan
Luke Castellan x Fem!Aphrodite Reader
You don’t feel like a daughter of Aphrodite today. Your hair won’t cooperate with you, it feels like none of your clothes fit right, and you’d somehow lost your favorite cherry lip gloss and had to borrow your sisters which tasted distinctly nonfruity, some vanilla something that left way too much of a taste in your mouth.
You just don’t feel like you. There's some sort of despair deep in your bones, you ignore the cause of it and trudge through the day in a haze, by them time you make it to lunch all you want to do is go back to bed and pray to the gods tomorrow is better.
“Y/N, are you okay?” Silena, your sister, asks you from her seat at lunch beside you. The rest of your siblings, true children of Aphrodite, turn their eyes and ears to listen in. Across from you and Silena is Drew, whose perfectly plucked brows furrow, “You haven’t touched your cherries,”
“You love cherries,” Jake, your brother, chimes in.
“I’m fine,” you tell them, forcing a smile. You pop a cherry in your mouth, “See?”
“No you’re not, you’ve been off all day,” Drew retorts, arms crossing as she turns to look at you. “Is this about that fight you had with Luke?”
Under the table Silena kicks her, and above it Jake elbows her.
“Drew,” he hisses, gesturing toward the rest of your siblings who all promptly turn back to their meals.
“Sorry, but are we not gonna talk about it, seriously?”
You, in fact, weren’t gonna talk about it. Luke had been your best friend for most of your time at Camp Half-Blood, you’d met him in the Hermes Cabin before your mother had claimed you. You’d only stayed there for 3 days, but by the time you were headed to Cabin 10 and away from him, Luke was already ready to help you carry your stuff and remind you if you needed anything he was still right next door.
You hadn’t really needed anything,. It was no shock to anyone you were Aphrodite's daughter, with your pretty smile and long shiny (y/h/c) hair. You had always had this way about you, something that lay between perfection and humanity. Confidence radiated off of you in waves, and you always smelt of fruit and cherry lipgloss.
You were fine on your own, perfectly capable of making your own life and friends for yourself in camp.
But Luke was charming, and maybe a little persistent. When you struggled to find a weapon you could actually wield, he knew your siblings would be no help, he’d approached you with two daggers in hand and told you to follow him. You were good with daggers but with Luke’s help, you were a damn force to be reckoned with. From there your friendship had blossomed and as you’d both grown up something more bubbled beneath the surface. A sort of "Will they?Might they?"
You never did, but you desperately wanted to.
At least you did, before your fight
A few days ago, Luke had been pretty worked up about Capture the Flag. Normally, you liked him like this, all argumentative and technical, jaw and fists clenched. Mainly because you're never on the receiving end and also because a small part of you prides yourself on the ability to calm him down afterward. He's always soft with you, but when he confides in you, truly, you think he’s the best person you’ve ever met.
But this time he’s just pissing you off.
Luke, Annabeth, and a few other children of Athena worked tirelessly on a strategy for your team to beat Ares. Ares was on a winning streak and it was putting damage in all of your egos. Annabeth’s idea to put you in front of the flag had bode well with the rest of the group, everyone always underestimates you as a daughter of Aphrodite. You'd told Luke how much this irks you, in quiet moments alone, there's this stereotype, a mold Aphrodite kids are "supposed" to fit into, and you don't fit it, you just wish other people would realize it too.
Maybe that's why when Luke didn’t like the idea, when he openly protested it, it stung so much. When he Annabeth that putting you, a child of Aphrodite (he didn’t say it in so many words but still) as the last line of defense for the flag was "fatal strategic error" you'd blinked at him. Luke had talked Annabeth out of it or at least talked her into him and Chris waiting behind the tree line out of site “just in case”.
After the meeting when it was just you and Luke, you’d fought, or more so Luke had tried to explain while you yelled at him.
“C’mon Y/N, this isn’t personal,” he’d told you after you’d ignored him the 3 minutes it took to get back to your respective cabins, he halted you in front of the Aphrodite cabin, coming to stand in front of you and tucking a piece of hair behind your ear, “leaving you there by yourself wasn’t a good idea, what if you needed back up?”
You’d slapped his hand away from your face.
“No but if Annabeth had wanted to leave you there, or herself there it wouldn’t have been a doubt in your mind you’d both be fine right?” He says nothing but you know what he’s thinking, and you scoff in disbelief.
“Don’t be like that,” Luke begged, eyes sad and soft, you almost wanted to cave when he lowered his voice and stepped closer to you, “Will you just let me explain?”
You take a step back, “What? You wanna explain that because I’m in Aphrodite I’m somehow less than you and Annabeth? Like I can’t look like this,” you gesture to your black mini skirt, camp half-blood tee, altered to be shorter and tighter, and your dainty jewelry, “and kick your ass at the same time?”
“I’m not saying–”
“Just forget it, Luke,” you’d said bitterly, “you know for the record I’m used to everyone treating me like some dizzy Aphrodite kid without a clue, I just never thought you’d be the one doing it.”
And then in the greatest storm off in Camp Half-Blood history you’d bumped his shoulder, stomped up the steps of your cabin, and slammed the door right in his cute puppy dog face.
“There’s nothing to talk about,” you told your siblings. Silena scoffs while Drew and Jake roll their eyes. “Y/N, you haven’t talked to him in almost a week.”
You pop another cherry in your mouth, “Look its fine, I’m fine, everything is fine, I’m just tired and this morning was rough”
They share an unconvinced look. “You know he keeps asking about you,” Jake tells you after a moment of silence, “I think he’s worried about losing you.”
“Can’t imagine why,” you say bitterly, you take your fork and stab it into your salad.
“Hmm, I don’t know because he’s totally in love with you??” Drew deadpans, she’s kicked and nudged again. She throws her hands up in the air and sighs loudly before she grabs her trey and stands up. “Look Y/N I love you, and if you want us to totally ignore your problems we will, again because we love you. But we just want you to be happy, and I think for the most part Castellan makes you happy.”
She smiles and then leaves. Jake stands too, “Plus he’s super hot, you are not gonna find better arm candy in this camp. Trust me I’ve looked.”
That draws a laugh out of you, “I’ll keep that in mind Jake, thanks.”
Silena goes to stand up too, “Are you gonna come to archery practice today? I heard Lee and the Apollo kids are gonna show off, might be kind of cool.”
“You go ahead I think maybe I just don’t feel well,” she looks unsure, and double-checks again. You just wave her off, tell her to have fun before retreating to your cabin.
You don’t feel well, you repeated, you must be coming down with a cold, your feeling of despair and lessthanness has nothing to do with Luke, with missing him, with wanting him.
You curl up in your empty cabin, in your bunk. Your siblings call it your nook, a bunk in the corner of the cabin, the top unclaimed, but the bottom bunk is yours. It's covered in pretty floral sheets, a fuzzy blanket, and a fluffy pillow. You had hung up (or had Luke hang them up for you) a long curtain rod across the bed frame with light pink curtains, the inside of your bunk lined with pretty fairy lights. Usually, your nook is comforting, today it just makes you miss your best friend.
The door to the Aphrodite Cabin opens and closes, you close your eyes, hoping desperately to fall asleep, and that whichever sibling walked in doesn’t realize you’re hiding in here.
A shadow appears outside your curtains, you internally groan and bury your face deeper in your pillow,
“Y/N?” the voice asks, you recognize it right away. You think you’d know him anywhere. It’s Luke, you let him peek into your curtain, and he gives you a small smile.
“Hey,” he says. His curly hair looks stupidly good, in a way that makes you wanna run your fingers through it. It's unfair really.
“Hi.”
“You okay?”
“M’fine,” you try to say voice muffle by the pillow, his smile grows.
“Mind if I come in?” You hesitate, you’re still reeling from his rejection of the idea that you could be of value as the last line of defense for the flag like you're some damsel that needs him to rescue her. Your ego isn’t the only thing that's wounded though. Luke hurt your feelings, all this time you thought he was the only person who saw you, all of you, and loved you for it and despite it. Never in a million years would you have imagined that your one episode of self-loathing would be triggered by his words. But, still, you miss him, and you're sad, so against your better judgment, you mutter a quiet sure and scoot over.
He crawls in with you and lays down on his back beside you, side by side the two of you stare up at your twinkle lights.
“You’ve kind of got it made in here don’t you?” he asks in order to break the terribly awkward silence. You mumble a quite yeah, and then you’re both silent again. It’s incredibly painful. You turn your head to look at him, and find he’s already staring at you.
“Hey,” you say.
“Hi,” he replies. He reaches up to tuck a piece of hair behind your ear, you savor the feeling of his touch, leaning into his hand. He smiles at you something sweet and sad all at once.
“I miss you,” Luke tells you, “and I’m sorry.”
“Luke–” he turns all the way to face you on his side, you follow suit even when he cuts you off.
“Just listen okay?” he pleads.
You nod once.
“I was worried about you,” he starts running a tired hand through his hair, your brows furrow in confusion, you open your mouth to protest, but he puts a finger to your lips, “You promised you’d listen remember?”
You glare at him but relent as he pulls his finger away from your lips and down your arm. “Peter from Ares, all week had been talking about how he’s leading the charge for our flag, and how he couldn’t wait to get his hand on the pretty Aphrodite girl who always takes all the cherries,” it doesn’t take a genius to realize that Peter had been talking about you. He’d flirted up a wild storm with you a few weeks prior and you’d turned him down, Peter, a true Ares kid at heart, didn’t take it well. “I didn’t want you out there all alone if he came looking for you and actually found you.”
Luke’s always had a hero complex, the desire to prove himself worthy of being called a hero, no matter the cost, the pink scar on his face is a testament to that. It would be annoying if it wasn’t so fucking sweet. “I can take care of myself, Luke.”
“I know that,” he says earnestly, and you think he means it. Luke reaches for your hands and holds both of them close to his chest, he brings one to his lips and kisses your wrist. “The thing is you don’t have to. And I guess I just wanted to protect you and I went about it all wrong, I’m sorry.”
“It’s okay,” you tell him and before you know it Luke is pulling you to his chest hugging you and kissing the top of your head. “I know you can take care of yourself, and I know you could kick anyones ass and look gorgeous doing it, you always do.” Another kiss to your head, before you’re looking up at him grinning.
“You think I’m gorgeous?” you can’t help teasing him. Your self consciousness is melting away under his gaze, how can it not when he’s looking at you like you hung the damn moon?
This is that something else that bubbles under the surface of your friendship.
“Are you kidding?” he scoffs, moving his arm from your waist to place a hand on your cheek, stroking it with his thumb, “Look at you, of course I do.”
“Even when I’m mad at you?” You tilt your face upwards and closer to his
Luke grins, “I don’t know are you still mad at me?” You smile right back, bringing one of your hands between your faces, and pinch your index finger and thumb together only a tiny sliver of space between them. Luke knows you’re kidding by the glint in your eyes.
“Well then especially when you’re mad at me.”
You laugh and it does something funny to Luke’s chest. He looks at your lips, and the air changes.
“Luke?”
“Yeah?”
“Would you really have protected me if I needed it? From Paul?” you ask quietly, eyes darting to his lips drawn between his teeth.
“From anything,” Luke swears, thumb still caressing your cheek, you want him closer, you need him closer. You could just reach up and kiss him but first you have to know, you have to make sure.
“Why?”
“You know why.”
And then he’s kissing you, like you’ve never been kissed before. You let out a squeak of surprise by the sudden pull at the back of your neck, toward him, then he’s shifting you on your back and hovering over you all the while never breaking your lips apart.
You’re glad for that, when he slips his tongue in your mouth, you think you’d die if he stopped kissing you. You reach one perfectly manicured hand at the base of his neck and thread your fingers through the shorter strands, Luke lets out a little groan, and you grin into your kiss. Your grin is cut short by his hand on the skin of your waist where your shirt had ridden up, he caresses it there and you absolutely melt.
This is it, you think, no one else will ever be able to kiss me again, you know you’re completely and totally screwed before you even pull away to catch your breath.
“You taste like vanilla,” Luke says, grinning at you with the sheen of borrowed lip gloss on his lips, he brings his thumb up to wipe the reminisce of the lip gloss off of yours, “I thought you use cherry.”
“I do,” you pout, reaching up to wipe his lips the way he did yours, he kisses the inside of your lips, “I lost mine.”
Luke reaches into his shorts, and appears with not one but two new, not yet opened, cherry lipglosses, her grins as you sit up and greedily grab them from him, “I brought them as a peace offering, you know in case you didn’t want to make out.”
You laugh before pulling the little handheld mirror off the window ledge next to your bed, you apply it and already you feel more like yourself.
You fling yourself back on top of Luke and cling to him like a Koala.
“Thank you,” you mumble into his chest. He laughs, and you can feel it in your cheek.
“Anytime sweetheart.”
You kiss him again, and this time when you pull away, it's your lips gloss that smeared on his mouth. You think you like him best like this, shiny swollen lips, tousled hair, and grinning.

hai :))) thoughts on roxy<>jake?
pointing and laughing at you for forgetting to click a button
anyway yeah i like it, though a lot of this post is going to be me examining their respective character flaws and potential issues with a moirallegiance, i definitely do think they could/would have a supportive platonic relationship. i see a few different interpretations flying around when it comes to the pale quadrant but if we go by the comic as-written, the role of moirails is to 'balance and complement each other's emotional profiles, and thus allow their other relationships to be more successful'... roxy and jake get on well, but do they actually balance each other out? i think they might be too similar in some ways, and i get the vibe that the pale quadrant is typically about people with contrasting personalities coming together.
that's not me shooting it down though, i do think these two compliment each other quite well. they enjoy each other's senses of humor and i really like their pesterlogs because it's really fun to see them bounce off each other! additionally, they both seem to enjoy aspects of femininity and feminine presentation so i think they'd enjoy bonding over and exploring that.
ramble continued beneath the cut, tl;dr they are both well-meaning people who want to support each other, but i think there's a possibility that they might struggle to communicate around more serious issues. it would take some effort to make it work, but it COULD work!
in general i'm a little hesitant to say 'oh yeah this relationship would definitely be 100% functional' because. it's the alpha kids. they have a lot of personal flaws that result in a lot of interpersonal problems, and those might emerge here too.
broadly speaking both roxy and jake seem to have impulsive sides, so maybe they'd egg each other on in irresponsible ways? and though they talk on the quest beds, those are pretty exceptional circumstances so i don't know how good they would be at communicating in more ordinary circumstances - roxy's light-hearted demeanour can make it seem like she's not taking things seriously and jake is very non-confrontational and avoids having difficult conversations with his friends. though maybe those communication styles match actually better than anyone elses would, i'm not sure.
another concern i have is that while roxy ostensibly works through some of her issues on-screen, jake does not - and roxy is all too used to being 'the supportive friend' while jake is usually wrapped up in his own issues. i don't know if i want them to be locked into that pattern where she has to support him and doesn't get enough back, you know? i do think they could be good for each other, it would just take some work from where they are in canon - and we DO see them putting effort into being there for each other in canon! especially on the quest beds. given the trickster hangover roxy is a little worn out and irritated by jake freaking out on her, but even though reassuring him is kind of a lot she still shows him a lot more patience and understanding than anyone else.
(maybe i'm just an idiot falling for jake's facade, but he does read like someone who genuinely needs direct communication sometimes. for the love of god... we need to diagnose him with something...)
and later into act 6, she is genuinely exited to see him and tries to reach out to him!
roxy clearly still likes jake. she reminds jane that jake isn't *genuinely* trying to be an asshole, and she tells dave that she thinks jake is a lot of fun if you can get him out of his shell, which bodes well for their friendship.
now, on jake's side of the moirallegience... i'm not sure exactly what kinds of support jake could provide roxy in return, though he is good at matching her energy. i can see him being genuinely excited and supportive as a friend. that said roxy is tired of putting everyone else first and being the designated shoulder to cry on, and i don't know if jake really has the social or emotional awareness to support her in that way. he's self centered and gets wrapped up in his own problems, but he is beginning to recognise that during his turning point on the quest beds.
and as we see a few screenshots above, he tries to offer her support when it occurs to him to do so! he does want to be a good friend and roxy of all people seems to understand his limitations best. so i think he could be a good moirail... but he would need to undergo some PERSONAL DEVELOPMENT first.
sidebar, i'd need to reread first to be certain but i heard somewhere that jake never does the rp thing again after this and if so thats really funny:
(removing a means of obfuscation for the benefit of others, hm? the rogue of void strikes again...)
anyway, wow all this is without even TOUCHING the fact that their pre-scratch selves knew each other and extra-canon materials in particular would suggest grandpa harley seems to have had a big influence on mom lalonde which is... [stares into the middle distance forlornly] sad. like, roxy beats her acoholism, but if jake doesn't figure himself out he is in real danger of winding up just like grandpa harley, you know? so i really like building on their dynamic with that in mind. you know maybe they don't need to be tragic and dysfunctional adults. maybe they can do better this time around! maybe.
#i know in my heart everything is that fuckin old man's fault#roxy you need to put eyeliner on him NOWWWWW#thanks for asking! sorry i know you hate angst but this is my blog and i like exploring flaws. and i think they can def build on this#ask#edit thanks tumblr for killing the quality of my screenshots

I have started to watch Fire Country and I seen the 13 episodes that has been released and I love that show and I love the Couple Bode and Gabriela. I cannot wait see when Bode and Gabriela. I honestly think that Gabriela knew for a while she and Jake were not meant to be, for one I think she really don't want to live with Jake. I think Jake knew too but I think it was hard for him to let go of her because of his past with Bode. I honestly don't think that Gabriela and Jake don't love each other. I honestly cannot see her jumping into the water to save him like she had done for Bode. Gabriela and Bode are able to each other about anything and plus I feel like that they are perfect for each other. I have yet to make up my mind about Jake and Cara because sometimes I like a couple instantly just I did with most of the couples but sometimes it take awhile. When Vince was defending Bode against the Couple wanting to sue for the California Fire Department and make Bode the fall person, I don't just do for Sharon and Bode it also for himself because I honestly I don't think he really doesn't want lose his last remaining child to prison again. Vince really does care about Bode and he does what to see Bode to succeed and want to see Bode be freed and also to join the same Fire station as him. Hopefully Bode and Jake will keep their friendship and it was clear that Jake wants to donor for Sharon because cares about that family and he don’t see Bode get send back to prison and finish his sentence in prison he whether see Bode finish his sentence doing what Bode is good at and it clearly it is something Bode loves doing.

@storiesfabled asked: ❛ i'm not drunk enough for this. ❜ from the dialogue meme
gabriela sighed and ran her hand over her forehead in frustration. ❝ you always shut down when the talking gets serious, jake. how about you sit here and talk to me instead of running of for a bottle of whiskey? ❞ things had been tense between them before bode got involved, but she was afraid they were caught in a downward spiral toward breaking up since she had formed a friendship with the man at the con camp that had risked everything to help her the night they had met.
from what she could tell, things were tense with bode's return and everyone in his life. and she didn't understand it. from what she knew, bode seemed like someone that had needed support and never received it. she could relate to that with how her mother had abandoned them and while her father tried his best, staying in edgewater had been the first time she had made a decision for herself instead of chasing after his approval. ❝ how can you say bode is dangerous when he used to be your best friend? ❞

HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!! i hope it’s lovely. feel free to talk about any of your newest ocs!! and additionally, what’s your favourite and least favourite thing about them?? <3
Thank you so much!!!!
Okay, so my newest OCs are Lucia Murrey, Alice Murrey, Ashley Williams, and Lucia Miller (though I need to properly introduce Lucia Miller).
Lucia & Alice Murrey are Fire Country OCs.
Ashley Williams & Lucia Miller are The Last of Us OCs
Lucia (Murrey) has made it a tradition to bake goods and drop them off at Cal Fire, including the prison camp. Which is how they start to repair their friendship and she admits that yes, Alice is his daughter. My favorite part about her is how she treats everyone the same, and my least favorite has to be that she can be a bit hypocritical - will forgive Bode for leaving town suddenly, no goodbye or anything, but has trouble forgiving Vince for being the reason he left, or Jake for breaking Riley's heart. My favorite thing about Alice is probably how smart and kind she is even at a young age, but my least favorite is she can let her curious and stubbornness get the best of her sometimes.
Ashley is probably more unhealthily attached to Joel than Ellie, because he was the first adult figure to really treat her as a kid. Marlene tried, but Ashley always knew Marlene would put the Fireflies before her or Ellie. Joel slaughter almost all the Fireflies just because they were going to kill Ellie for the vaccine and were planning on getting Ashley infected on the off chance she was also immune as a back-up. My favorite thing about her probably is how deeply she care for family - once you're family or a loved one, there is nothing she won't do for you. My least favorite thing has to be that she can be extremely ruthless - enough that it sometimes surprises Joel and Ellie. She has no problem killing and honestly, would be terrified to meet her in real life.
Lucia (Miller) is probably going to be more HBO The Last of Us than the game but considering how close the teaser looks the game there likely won't be much difference anyway. She's Joel's daughter from his Hunter days, who gets dropped off at Joel's doorstep at the Boston QZ. She is younger than Ellie - 10-12 is what I'm thinking. Joel tries to preserve her childhood/innocence as best he can, but also teaches her how to defend herself and use a weapon, because he is terrified of a repeat of Sarah. My favorite thing about her is how she is both exactly like Joel and nothing like him at the same time. My least favorite thing... I'll have to get back to you on that one. I'm thinking it is her unhealthy attachment to Joel - her and Ellie don't get along at first but then get along like a house on fire and Joel regrets everything.

A/N: I was not planning on writing this, but here is a lil part 2 to my Fire Country tag! xxx
“Bode? Bode, c’mon. Come on, Bode!”
Jake pats at Bode’s face, shakes his shoulders, but nothing works. He just watches helplessly as Bode’s lids flutter, and then his eyes roll back in his head, his face going slack.
“Oh my god, Jake is he--” Freddy begins, and Jake waves him off with the hand that’s not currently at Bode’s neck feeling for his pulse. He knows how that sentence ends and he doesn’t want to hear it, doesn’t want to even think it.
He feels the thump thump of a heartbeat a second later, just like he knew he would (hoped he would).
“He’s alive,” he says, and out of the corner of his eye he sees Freddy nearly collapse with relief. “But he’s tachy.”
“Tachy? What does that mean?”
Jake looks at Bode’s sheet-white face, at the sweat beading his forehead and the paleness of his lips, and his stomach knots with worry.
“Jake?”
Jake looks up at Freddy, who’s staring at him wide-eyed. He looks like he might burst into tears at any second, which is how Jake is how Jake would be feeling if he stopped to let himself think anything.
“It means his heart is beating too fast. It’s his body trying to compensate for blood loss. He needs that ambulance, Freddy.”
“Is there anything I can do?” the man asks helplessly.
“Actually, yes. I need you to go find Captain Perez and ask him for an update on the ambulance. And bring me some blankets!”
Freddy nods and jogs off toward the smoldering fire camp. Jake turns his attention back to Bode.
“Alright, Bode, come back…” He makes a fist and rubs his knuckles firmly and quickly against the man’s sternum. Bode groans, one hand reaching up to bat weakly at Jake’s, and Jake lets out a breath he hadn’t realized he was holding. “Good, Bode, you with me?”
“What th’ hell?” Bode slurs, one eye opening and then the other as he glares up at Jake with an expression that’s equal parts confused and pained and that’s a million times better than unconscious.
“You passed out there for a sec, B. You’ve lost some blood but you’re gonna be okay. Ambulance is coming. You need to stay awake though, okay? Don’t--don’t do that again. You scared me.”
“‘m sorry. I…I screwed ever’thing up.”
There’s a part of Jake that agrees, but a bigger part that knows if Odin had gotten away then he would’ve gone on to cause more damage, hurt more people.
“Naw, Bode. You had to stop him. He was dangerous.”
Bode puts one hand over Jake’s, and Jake can’t help but notice that his hands are clammy and trembling.
“‘s not what I mean.”
Jake frowns slightly and Bode continues.
“Back when I…left, I--” Bode swallows thickly. “I should’ve--should’ve said somethin’, I should’ve…”
“Hey, that’s all in the past now,” Jake says. He thinks the blood has finally stopped, but he’s afraid that if he takes any pressure off then it’ll just start again and Bode will bleed out, so he keeps his blood-slick hands over the pile of reddened gauze.
“And I’m--I’m sorry about Gabriella.”
Jake sighs, closing his eyes for a moment. Freddy comes jogging up right then, and Jake is grateful for the disruption.
“Here,” Freddy says breathlessly, his arms piled high with blankets that smell like smoke.
“Good, drop ‘em here. We need to get one on him, and use the others to prop up his feet.”
Freddy nods obediently, dumping the blankets onto the floor. He piles all but one next to Bode’s feet.
“I won’t hurt him if I move him?” he says.
“‘m okay, Freddy.” Bode’s voice is low and scratchy, not at all convincing, but Freddy nods seriously.
“K, I’m gonna lift your legs up, now.”
Bode’s brow furrows as Freddy lifts his legs, jaw tightening, and Jake is glad that Freddy can’t see the pain on his face.
“There we go, buddy. Jake, is that good?”
Jake looks over and nods. “Yeah, looks good.”
“Here.” Freddy holds out the last blanket.
Jake still doesn’t want to move his hands, but he’s certain now that the bleeding has stopped and Bode needs to stay warm, so he carefully lifts his hands away from the wound, watching for any fresh blood and, on not seeing any, takes the blanket and drapes it carefully over Bode.
“What’d Cap say about that ambulance?”
“He called again, said they’re getting close. Maybe eight minutes out.”
Eight minutes. It’s not a long time, usually. An eight minute wait at a restaurant, or eight minutes until kickoff of the big game, even eight minutes on hold isn’t too bad. But there are other times when eight minutes feels like an eternity. Eight minutes in a bad fire can feel like an eternity.
And so, it turns out, can eight minutes waiting for an ambulance to come for your ex-best friend turned rival turned whatever the hell is going on now. He still doesn’t know exactly where they stand, still has a lot of anger and hurt over a lot of things, but he does know, is absolutely certain, that he doesn’t want Bode to die.
“How we doin’, Bode?” he asks.
“Pain’s not…not so bad anymore. Gettin’ cold.”
Jake feels a spike of concern, and he feels Freddy move closer to him.
“That’s bad, right?” he whispers.
“We’ve just gotta keep him talking,” Jake says.
“Hear that, Bode? Keep talking!” Freddy encourages.
Bode’s breath is coming in in fast, short bursts now, his skin ashen, and Jake guesses that if he could see better, he’d see a bluish tint to his lips. He’s obviously struggling to stay awake, but he’s fighting and that’s what matters. As long as he keeps fighting…
“Come on, Bode.”
“If--if…”
Jake has the sick feeling that he knows where this is going.
“If I don’t--”
“Don’t talk like that,” he says gently.
“No!” Bode says it with surprising strength, then winces. When he speaks again his words are quiet and halting. “Jake, if I don’t…if I don’t make it I need…I need you to tell my mom that I. I tried. I just w-wanted to keep her safe. ‘n tell my dad I just…I hope I made him-m proud.”
Jake reaches under the blanket, finding Bode’s cool, clammy hand and gripping it tight.
“You’re gonna be fine, Bode. You can tell them all of that, and more, alright?”
“‘n tell Gabby…”
Jake feels a stab of jealousy and guiltily shoves it down.
“Tell ‘er thank you. For savin’ me. And--and thank you. For not turning me in.”
“It was nothing,” Jake says. “I…probably deserved that punch.”
Bode’s mouth turns up in something approaching a smile and he nods once. “Yeah.”
“Do you hear sirens?” Freddy says suddenly, and Jake looks up toward the road. He can hear the faint sirens, and distant red lights are visible through the trees.
“They’re here, Bode! They’re almost here, you’re gonna be okay. You hear me?”
“Hear you,” Bode breathes. It’s obvious he’s getting tired, though, his eyes getting a distant look to them that Jake doesn’t like.
“Hey,” he says firmly, reaching up with both blood-caked hands and taking Bode’s face between them. “Stay with me now, I mean it this time.”
He doesn’t pay much attention to the ambulance as it pulls up, focused as he is on trying to keep Bode awake. He barely hears the sir, we’ve got it from here. Hands he doesn’t know reach for his arm and he pushes them away.
“Sir!”
“Jake!”
It’s Gabby’s voice that finally reaches him. He turns to see her cutting through the small clearing, face twisted with sadness and worry. Her dad is hot on her heels.
“You have to let them do their job,” Manny says.
Jake blinks and stands slowly, letting himself be jostled out of the way as the paramedics kneel on the ground next to Bode and get to work. Gabby stands near them, talking tearfully to the barely-conscious man. Manny takes Jake by the arm and leads him off to one side, and then pulls him into a hug.
“You did good,” he says. “They’ve got it from here.”
Jake doesn’t return the hug, standing stiffly and staring off into the darkness.
“Hey, you good?” Manny says, pulling away. “Jake?”
Slowly, Jake shakes his head.
“I didn’t say it back,” he finally says. “I didn’t tell him I was sorry.”

to know him is to love him
For week 8 of B99 Hiatus Creations, and the prompt was: favorite episode.
The morning after Six Drink Amy makes her debut, Amy's forced to deal with her feelings.
Or, a missing moment from 'Beach House.'
Read it on ao3.
Her brain was sludge, maybe even mostly vodka, yet it was somehow still able to jackhammer away at her head in its liquid form.
Amy slowly blinked her eyes open, immediately shying away from the sunlight streaming viciously through the window and further disturbing her fragile head. As her senses slowly rebooted, her first thought was that she was lying on something soft and bouncy – a bed. God, she didn’t even remember putting herself to bed last night in her drunken state.
A cautious glance at the nightstand revealed a tube of bubblegum chapstick and a fancy, artisanal glass bottle of water: Gina. If her head weren’t pounding steadily, Amy would be touched by the genuine gesture of friendship.
She clumsily reached for the water and gulped it straight from the bottle, relishing the cool feel of the water as it ran down her dry, scratchy throat. Feeling somewhat revived, she slowly untangled herself from her bedsheets and stumbled over to her bag for her emergency pharmacy, downing a couple of Advil to relieve her headache.
Amy heard voices wafting from the kitchen down the stairs, along with the smell of bacon, and she groaned internally. She was so hungry and in desperate need of caffeine, but that only meant that she would have to face her coworkers after embarrassing herself in front of them last night. She’d been drunk in front of the squad plenty of times before, but Six Drink Amy had never made an appearance. She only hoped they would let it slide.
“Sasquatch!” Gina yelled as soon as Amy stepped foot into the kitchen. So much for letting it slide.
“Morning, Gina.” Amy winced as she tried to smile, her hangover starting to take effect on her face muscles. She covertly handed Gina her forgotten chapstick; to her credit, Gina looked sheepish at being given hard evidence of her friendship with Amy Santiago.
Jake and Rosa were eating at the dining table and discussing strategy for this year’s upcoming tactical village, Hitchcock and Scully were asleep on each other in the corner (as usual), Terry was doing his Sudoku on the couch while simultaneously lifting a small weight she assumed had come from his fanny pack, and Gina informed Amy that Holt was on a morning beach walk before she left the room to put her makeup on.
Charles was cooking up what looked to be normal, edible pancakes so Amy made herself a plate and slathered her pile in butter and syrup before sitting down at the dining table. She felt Rosa gently punch her shoulder as she got up from the table.
“Woah, Santiago, extra butter and syrup? You must be feeling pretty bad if you’re having the Peralta special.”
Amy looked up from the (blessedly) giant mug of coffee Charles had just handed her to see Jake’s smirk. She rolled her eyes and regretted it immediately as the slight movement made her woozy.
She groaned and dropped her face to her hands. “I feel like someone used my head for batting practice.”
Jake snorted as he inhaled his own pancakes. “Yeah, you were in rare form last night.”
Amy looked up, horrified. If Jake thought she had been a disaster, that didn’t bode well at all. “Oh god, how bad was I?”
He laughed slightly. “Well, you fell asleep on the couch while we were playing Real Ray or Fake Ray and then woke up yelling, ‘Forever alone!’”
Amy stabbed her pancake with venom. “Great.”
He cleared his throat awkwardly. She looked up to find him staring at her with softer eyes than she’d ever seen on him before. Her stomach swooped, and she tried very hard to tell herself it was hangover-induced nausea and not in any way a response to Jake Peralta.
“For the record, I don’t think you’ll be alone forever.” He was staring down at his plate now, awkward and earnest, and she honestly thought she might cry. “You’re too good for that, Ames.”
He looked back at her as he finished speaking, the same puppy dog eyes fixed to his face. Amy stared right back, unable to look away from this rare honest moment with him.
They had hardly been alone together since their disastrous road trip upstate two weeks previously and Amy had intentionally kept her distance from him since he started dating Sophia. It was all just so complicated and hard, and she hated having feelings (because she can admit now that she has them for him.) And even though various members of the squad were scattered around the room and they certainly weren’t alone, she felt his presence acutely and was comforted by it.
She nodded and allowed him a small smile. “Thanks, Jake. That means a lot.” He smiled back, and they both continued eating breakfast in contented silence.
That is, until his phone rang and an unfairly beautiful picture of his girlfriend appeared on the screen.
Jake jumped in his seat and snatched the ringing device from the table, staring at the caller ID. “I should take this.”
Amy swallowed down a snarky comment about significant others not being allowed to interfere with their detectives’ getaway, instead nodding at him. “Sure, I’ll see you later.”
As he walked out of the room, Amy gulped her coffee, willing the caffeine to bring her forcefully back down to earth, and hating herself just a little bit for the sharp pang in her heart that started as soon as he left the table.

Charmed Again: Season 3 (Charmed Fanfic)
Episode 7 - Spellbound Behind Bars
Warnings: I don’t own the rights to any of the characters from the hit TV show “Charmed” or the storylines related to the show those rights belong to original creator Constance M Burge.
15+ Moderate/Graphic Displays of Violence, Sexual Innuendos, Witchcraft and Potentially Triggering Scenes.
Returning home to find his murdered father and aunt in the foyer of the Halliwell Manor would’ve been more than traumatic for anyone never mind someone who had already witnessed the death of his adoptive parents and his birth mother and things were made worse when Drake was arrested by the police wrongly charged with the murder of Paul and Pan Halliwell luckily his daughter Lilah never witnessed any of this and was currently with her mother Cindy the only comforting factor in a terrible situation that had well and truly left Drake feeling broken.
Through the worst times of his life Drake Black always had one person by his side his best friend Lacey Morgan-Halliwell but after killing her wife and brother in law’s assassin she had been kind of lacking when it came to communication leaving Drake alone behind bars with no word on getting out as he began to believe he was going to spend the rest of his life in a maximum security prison for a crime he never committed fearing he’d never see his daughter again.
Drake sat within the courtyard of the maximum-security prison he found himself imprisoned by as he sat on the cold ground with his legs crossed and eyes closed attempting to meditate and picture himself anywhere but there without accidentally blinking there at the same time.
Sure Drake had the power to leave at any moment but he knew if he did that would raise far too many questions leaving him with no choice but to stay put and hope the elders would find a magical solution to make all this go away knowing that even if he got out of his prison there’d be no way of bringing back his father or aunt no matter how much he wished they weren’t gone.
“Yeah I wouldn’t do that if I were you this is my first bit of peace since I got dumped in this hell hole and if you try disturbing it you will deeply regret it.” Drake warned Joey Kane and his prison gang as he opened his eyes to see them approaching.
“I don’t know what your doing here but move it along to somewhere else.” Joey told the Halliwell hybrid as Drake stood up to face Jake and his friends.
“Yeah I don’t take answers from anybody let alone some thug who needs a pose to bark orders at everybody.” Drake snapped at him.
“You’ve got an awful big mouth, but I doubt you’re half as dangerous as they say.” Joey said while pulling a makeshift shiv out of his pocket.
Joey charged at Drake with his makeshift shiv in his hand only for Drake to quickly kick it out of his hands before kicking Joey to the ground as Drake proceeding in fighting with Joey’s prison gang leading to Drake flooring each one of them with ease proving he was more than able to take them all without any weapons other than himself.
“Next time you’ll know better than to interrupt a guy while meditating.” Drake scoffed at him before hearing his own named shouted from across the courtyard as prison guarder Salter marched over the courtyard in his direction and whacked Drake across the face with his baton making Drake fall to the ground.
“You just can’t help yourself, can you?” Salter shouted at Drake. “One way or another I’ll make you follow the rules!”
Drake had found himself pulled into the prison warden Echo Jinx’s office within the maximum-security prison he had found himself residing in following his little showdown in the courtyard as he sat handcuffed in front of the warden who was sat behind her desk looking at him with her usual judgmental look on her face.
“So, you’ve found yourself in trouble again Mr Black it’s beginning to be something of a regular occurrence for you.” She said to him.
“Hey, I was just minding my own business taking up some good old-fashioned meditation and then those degenerates came and started I fight so I had no choice but to put them in their place.” Drake replied. “Did I mention that they had a shiv? Not my fault Salter only seems to jump in when it’s time to get handsy with me I’m pretty sure he’s got it bad for me.”
“I will look into filing an official complaint about prison guard Salter’s mistreatment of prisoners even though some of you clearly deserve a bit of tough love from time to time.” Echo informed him.
“Thanks, but no thanks Jinx I’d rather just take care of things myself whether or not it leads me back here.” Drake said making it clear he didn’t want her assistance.
“With more violent behavior no doubt.” Echo snapped. “Has your life always been violent Mr Black?”
Drake wanted to answer yes or at least reveal he had lived a violent life for quite some time now ever since his adoptive parents died in a fire he accidentally caused.
Since then he had vanquished several demons including his own grandfather and his daughter’s aunt and watched his own mother die before his very eyes and that was all before discovering his father and aunt dead in their family home.
To say Drake Black’s life had been a violent one would truly be an understatement.
“It’s hardly been the best life that’s for sure.” Drake answered her.
“I can help you…” Echo began to say.
“If you’re going to help anyone it should be Julian Parker.” Drake interrupted the warden. “He’s a big-time drug lord whose business hasn’t exactly stopped while in here and if you don’t put a stop to it, I’ll have to take matters into my own hands.”
“You do realize you shouldn’t be making threats in the prison warden’s office, right?” She asked him.
“Tick tock goes the clock. Time speed forward so I can be back in my block.” Drake quickly chanting making the nearby clock on the wall’s mechanics inside begin spinning around.
Drake found himself showering within the seemingly empty prison showers when he heard a door slam loudly making him switch off his shower and wrap his towel around his waste as he investigates the prison bathroom only to be left shocked to find Jake stood waiting for him wearing nothing but a towel himself.
“I take it you can just freely roam whenever you feel like it as long as you pay the guards enough.” Drake said to his prison nemesis. “I can’t decide whether it’s brave or stupid of you to come here alone after how I easily I just took you and your friends on earlier.”
“Let’s say I’m a bit of both,” Joey said seductively as he dropped his own towel and walked towards Drake before pulling Drake’s towel off him and kissing Drake on the lips.
Drake and Joey shared a smile between each other before Joey roughly pushed Drake up against a nearby wall as the two prisoners began passionately kissing each other before Joey turned Drake around to face the wall as he pushed himself up against Drake and began passionately kissing the Halliwell hybrid’s neck.
“They really don’t joke when they say prison food tastes like hell actually if I’m honest hell tastes better.” Drake joked as he sat in the canteen area within the prison while he ate what was considered his dinner, attempting to cheer up his friend Toby who was sat opposite him his body shaking and sweating from withdrawal symptoms.
“Tell me about it, Julian got busted and now I’ve got nowhere of getting anything, Drake please you got to help me!” Toby pleaded with his cellmate.
“Julian got busted wow what a shame wonder who tipped them?” Drake replied with a knowing smirk. “Toby it’s time we get you clean once and for all you got a wife and kid outside you need to be clean before returning to them or else you’ll only wind up back in here again and they won’t wait for you a second time around. Trust me when you have family you’ve got to try everything to keep them.”
“Your right man I know your right but I’m not sure I’m strong enough to go through this again.” Toby admitted to him.
“Luckily for you I have a little remedy that’ll kick the withdrawal symptoms ass and help you stay off the drugs for good.” Drake revealed. “It’ll be thanks enough not to put up with your addicted ass so don’t worry about owing me anything I don’t play those prison games.”
Toby smiled at Drake silently thanking him for his help as Drake noticed Jake and his prison crew walk over to their table before sitting down at their table with Jake sitting right next to Drake leaving Drake unsure of whether he was about to be stabbed or asked to join their group, not particularly wanting either to be true.
“I sure hope you’re not here for another beat-down because if so, I intend on making your injuries that much more fatal.” Drake warned them all while looking straight at Joey.
“We’re not here to start anything with you we learned the hard way so to speak not to mess with you Drake Black.” Joey replied with a grin on his face. “I suppose we should’ve known any guy who killed their own father and aunt in cold blood shouldn’t be messed with.”
“I’m innocent although I’m starting to wonder if the people who need to know that actually know it or not.” Drake stated, disgusted by the accusation of which he had found himself in jail for.
“Either way we’ll offering our friendship towards you whether you’re in here for a few weeks, months or the long haul we want to be your friends.” Joey told the Halliwell hybrid.
“Yeah I’ve not really bothered with many friendships since high school and she’s dead now so that doesn’t exactly bode well for any new friends.” Drake answered Joey.
“You’re a funny guy Drake,” Jake laughed. “How about you scratch our backs and we’ll scratch yours.”
“Okay then,” Drake replied, clearly finding some use for his new friends. “Let’s start this whole scratching thing now I need to get my hand on some items, and I don’t want to be asked why I need these items.”
“Consider it done friend.” Joey said with a sinister smirk.
The next day Drake forced Toby into joining him for his second attempt at meditation as they sat within the middle of the courtyard grounds legs crossed, eyes closed and meditating while noticing nothing butter utter silence a silence Drake knew was because of his new friendship with Joey Kane.
“My wife swears by meditation she’s going to be shocked when she hears somebody convinced me to meditate with them.” Toby said to Drake breaking their silence.
“Part of meditating is the silence,” Drake joked. “Trust me it’s not my sort of thing normally but if I stop trying to hold myself together and stay in each moment as they come then I’m afraid I’ll fall apart.”
“Well now your top dog around here you’ll get all the time in the world to meditate as you please.” Toby replied while opening his eyes.
“I had several dreams about being top dog in prison and I’ve got to say I prefer the dream world’s version to this reality.” Drake admitted as he opened his eyes to see Joey walking over to them both. “Well there goes the silence.”
“I got everything you asked for.” Joey declared before dropping a key onto Drake’s lap. “After lock-down meet me in the basement for the exchange.”
“I guess I’ll see you after lock-down then.” Drake responded with a smile before Joey quickly walked away from him and Toby.
“I don’t think he’s being helpful for the sake of it, Drake he’s clearly after something and I don’t think this supposed miracle remedy of yours is worth doing business with the likes of him.” Toby warned his friend. “The Kane family are notorious in San Francisco.”
“So is my family in certain circles and I can promise you Halliwell carries much more fear than Kane.” Drake boasted. “Beside if I’ve just been left here to rot, I may as well start making friends with those in for longer than you.”
“I’ll still visit you when I get out my wife and kid too their going to love you Drake.” Toby replied to him.
“Once you’re out of here don’t ever look back and if you wind up back in here, I’ll be kicking your ass!” Drake warned him.
“Well if I wasn’t certain I was going to stay clean before I’m certain I will no.” Toby admitted. “I’m going to miss you when I get out of here…I hope you do too one day.”
Drake cautiously walked downstairs and into the prison basement knowing there was a chance that this could be a trap but not too worried knowing a part demon part witch hybrid was more than enough to handle Joey and his friends even if he was no longer a charmed one.
“I’ve got to admit a part of me believed this was going to be some kind of trap.” Drake said as he found Joey standing waiting for him while holding a pillowcase filled with contraband.
“You’ve got to learn to trust more people sure we started a fight with you but you’ve earned our respect now although I’m the one who should be cautious with all the messed up things you told me to buy.” Joey replied to him. “What exactly are you planning to with all this anyway?”
“Seems like somebody already forgot the no questions asked part of our deal.” Drake reminded him as he walked over to Joey and took the pillowcase off his hands.
“Fine but it wouldn’t kill you to thank a guy for going to so much trouble.” Joey flirted with Drake as he grabbed a hold of his body and pulled the Halliwell hybrid towards him. “Unless last time was just a onetime thing?”
“I got advised to stay away from you probably shouldn’t be sleeping with you either.” Drake replied with a flirtatious smile.
“And are you going to…stay away?” Joey asked before Drake kissed him.
“I’m done listening to anyone’s advice.” Drake answered him before the two began passionately kissing.
“So, I’ve heard you’ve got yourself roped into the Kane family I’ve got to say that’s not quite what I was expected when I was sent down here to keep and eye on the Halliwell hybrid.” Echo revealed to Drake the next morning as he sat back in her office once more while she sat comfortably behind her desk.
“Ah now it makes sense why the prison warden has taken so much interest in me.” Drake scoffed. “So, what are you a white lighter, elder, demon or other?”
“I’m a white lighter the elders assigned me here after the tragic events which led to your wrongful incarceration I was advised to reveal myself sooner but my curiosity got the better of me and I wanted to see how the half demon worked within prison confinements.” Echo told him. “The elders are working on your release as us some kind of supernatural police force to get you out of jail they’re just hitting a few bumps along the way.”
“Of course, they are because now the charmed ones are dead, I’m just back to be some demonic hybrid they don’t approve of.” Drake snapped. “Firstly, I would’ve been out by now if I were a charmed one and secondly you should’ve told me the minute you got here to save me thinking I’d never get out of this place! As if losing my father and aunt weren’t enough the least you could do is get me out this prison.”
“I admit keeping lip was a mistake on my part but trust me when I say you are still very much a top priority with the elders you see Drake Black you are still needed to restore the charmed ones just like you did before but this time with different charmed colleagues.” Echo replied to Drake leaving him stunned by her revelations.
“Being a charmed one is the reason I’m in here it’s the reason I have nobody left except my daughter who I can’t even see right now.” Drake scoffed at her. “There’s no chance in hell I’ll ever be a charmed one again.
“Being a charmed ones is also the reason you were reunited with your family that you had your daughter and why your best friend didn’t stay dead although the elders are thoroughly regretting that mistake now she’s running around killing people right left and center.” Echo informed the Halliwell hybrid.
“Hold up you mean she’s killed more people?” Drake asked in horror, realizing how far Lacey Morgan-Halliwell had fallen.
“She’s mostly hunting other witch hunters, but she has taken out a white lighter or too as well it’s safe to say nobody in the magical community is safe as long as she lives.” Echo answered him. “Which I’m sure will be easy enough for the charmed ones to handle once they have been reborn with your help.”
“Hell no!” Drake shouted while standing up. “Killer or not I’m not killing my best friend and as for being a charmed one I was done being the elders’ lackey the moment they didn’t show up to save my dad.”
“Drake,” Echo said as she took a deep sigh before standing up to face him. “I can’t begin to imagine what your going through not only grieving but imprisoned but imagine what your going through now and how you can stop others from suffering that same fate.”
“Yeah that’s not my problem.” Drake replied.
“I don’t believe you I mean you have every means to escape prison and yet you stay because you know breaking out whether your innocent or not is wrong just like being able to help people and choosing not to is wrong.” Echo argued with him before Salter knocked on the door before opening it.
“I need to take Mr Black back to his cell now Miss Jinx.” Salter informed the white lighter pretending to be a prison warden.
“Very well,” Echo sighed with frustration before lowering her voice to speak to Drake. “Please just think about what I’ve said.”
“I’m more interested in seeing how quick their going to work to get me out without the knowing of getting me as some kind of prize for them.” Drake made himself clear.
Drake walked into his prison cell relieved to see Toby sat on the bottom bunk drinking from a plastic cup which contained a potion Drake made to help erase Toby’s withdrawal symptoms and his addiction in the process.
“I don’t know what’s inside this mad remedy you made but I’m beginning to feel like a new man.” Toby praised his friend while continuing to drink.
“Just make sure you finish the entirety of it.” Drake reminded him.
“I will, don’t worry in fact I’ll do it right now.” Toby said as he down the rest of the potion and stood up to hug Drake. “I can’t thank you enough Drake you’re like some kind of wizard.”
“It’s okay you can thank me by getting out of here and not fucking up your second chance.” Drake laughed while Toby continued to hug him.
As Drake continued to hug the only real friend, he believed to have in the prison he noticed Joey walking past his cell looking far from happy to see Drake touching another man clearly believing it to be anything but innocent.
The very next morning Drake woke up about to learn a cruel lesson about getting close to anyone while in prison as he was once again thrown into a murder scene of someone he had found himself growing close to as a dreadful history continued to repeat itself for the troubled Halliwell hybrid.
“Toby if you don’t want some ugly ass prison guard with bad morning breath screaming in your face you better get up now.” A blissfully unaware Drake told his cellmate before jumping out of his bunk bed to be left shocked to the core when his feet landed in a pool of blood.
Drake’s face dropped as he looked on the bottom bunk to see a bloodied and lifeless Toby laid on the bed with his throat slit much to Drake’s horror as he found himself flashing back to finding his father and aunt in a similar state remaining frozen for a moment before beginning to shout louder and louder.
“Help somebody help!” He shouted repeatedly despite knowing in his gut that Toby was already gone. “Guards.”
Drake found himself sitting within an interrogation room handcuffed and chained to the table while his eyes were red raw from crying over the death of his cellmate still shaking from the shock of finding his cellmate dead knowing it must of happened while he slept believing the murderer was his latest terrible choice in men.
“Obviously the elders know you’re not guilty of this crime and after advising the right people about the Kane family’s history of murder we ran a few tests on your blood leading to the conclusion you had been drugged leaving in a deep sleep which is why you never woke up to your friend being murdered.” Echo revealed to him as she walked over to the table and sat opposite the chained Drake. “I’m deeply sorry for your loss I wish I could say I’m surprised.”
“Hold up so your pretty much confirming Joey is behind all this?” Drake asked as his grief quickly turned to anger.
“Well I can’t exactly say for sure without checking in with the elders again, but I can honestly say I’d put good money on him!” Echo stated.
“Then I guess I’ve got a new bad guy to vanquish.” Drake declared. “And whoever helped him.”
“They’re not like the normal demons you vanquish Drake you can’t just vanquish them it’s not vanquishing when their human it’s murder.” Echo explained to a grieving Drake.
“What’s the use of being a witch and protecting the innocent when my friends, my family just get slaughtered one by one and I have to sit there and do nothing?” Drake snapped at the white lighter posing as a prison guard.
“Because there’s laws and a whole system in place to save humans from themselves granted they are flawed at best but that doesn’t mean we should take matters into our own hands we’re not gods.” Echo argued with him.
“That’s beyond hilarious coming from a woman whose real boss act like gods all the bloody time when all their just promoted white lighters considering most of them were wiped out years ago and saved by my own great-grandfather.” Drake continued to argue his point. “My god damn family has saved your asses time and time again but when it comes to saving us you are nowhere to be seen so don’t you dare sit there and tell me what I’m to do or not to do because I’m done listening to the lot of you!"
Drake had plenty of time alone in his new prison cell thinking whether to handle things the charmed way or the demonic way knowing the charmed way had only ever failed him whereas the demonic way was no less inhumane than the people who slaughtered his cellmate.
After a few hours after lock-down Drake found Salter opening his cell before ordering him out of bed and cuffing him as they escorted the Halliwell hybrid into the prison canteen to find Joey stood there waiting for him as Salter quickly made himself out of sight.
“I heard about your cellmate and by the looks of it you’re not exactly handling it very well.”
“I had a feeling you’d arrange a meeting with me sooner or later although I’m very surprised you chose the same day.” Drake said as he walked towards Joey before a knife blinked into his hand. “Killing my only friend in here was the worse place you ever made.”
“I never killed anyone Drake but I’m sure you’re not going to believe that given my family name.” Joey scoffed before Drake grab a hold of his hand slamming it down on a nearby table and pinning Joey’s hand to the table with his knife causing Joey to scream out in pain.
“Here’s the thing I’ve been lied to most of my life so when people lie to me it, kind of pisses me off.” Drake told him, as he contemplated murdering the man in front of him.
“I didn’t do it Drake,” Joey said in between screams of pain. “I don’t do over friends like that.”
“I don’t believe you!” Drake shouted as he twisted the knife launched in Joey’s hand.
“It’s probably some demon you stupid witch.” Joey screamed at him shocking Joey in the process as Drake instantly pulled the knife out of Joey’s hand as Joey fell to the ground his hand bleeding heavily.
“How do you know I’m a witch?” Drake asked him as he dropped the bloody knife to the ground, disgusted by what he had just done out of rage.
“I’m the guy who got your ingredients wasn’t hard to work out what you were after that.” Joey replied as he held on his hand trying to stop it from bleeding groaning in pain before Drake waved his hand and suddenly Joey’s hand was fully bandaged.
“Luckily for you I know how to bandage a perp from back when I was putting people in jail instead of locking them up.” Drake said as he helped a reluctant Joey back up to his feet. “So, you’re really telling me your innocent?”
“Screw you, you just stabbed me you psychopath and now you want to interrogate me.” Joey snapped at him. “Sure, I was jealous, but I don’t kill over jealousy I just break a few legs.”
“You know that’s problematic too right?” Drake laughed in response.
“Says the jackass who just stabbed me in the hand!” Joey replied before looking at his bandaged hand. “Although I’ve got to admit your powers are kind of cool.”
“I’m sorry for stabbing you I guess I have some anger issues after everything.” Drake apologized. “I can’t believe I almost killed me.”
“Please what’s a stabbing between friends?” Joey joked before going on to say. “For the record you wouldn’t have wound up killing me even if I did kill your friend, you’re not a murderer I’ve known murderers and trust me you’re not one of them.”
“I thought I could be for a moment but then I remembered that’s not who I am and it’s not who my father would ever want me to be.” Drake revealed to him. “Who all four of my parents would ever want me to be.”
“I have a theory Salter’s a demon I mean he’s had it in for you since you got here, and I’ve not seen him around until you showed up.” Joey explained his claim. “I mean I’ve never been a witch or a detective so you should probably do some digging but I’ve got a hunch and my hunches are rarely wrong.”
“You know you should probably listen to the guy he’s not entirely stupid for a thug.” Salter suggested after shimming into the canteen.
“Good it’s a demon, demons I can kill without feeling like a murderer.” Drake said with a sigh of relief. “Which I suppose is kind of messed up considering I’m half demon.”
Salter suddenly summoned an energy ball above his hand before throwing it in Drake’s direction who waved his hand to blink the energy ball out of sight before it reappeared hitting Salter and sending him flying across the air before ending up laid on the floor. Before Salter could get back on his feet Drake waved his hand once more setting the demon on fire and watching him burn before exploding in front of him and Joey.
“Remind me to never piss you off again.” Joey joked with Drake.
“Got to admit that felt much better than murdering you would’ve done.” Drake laughed.
Later that day Drake walked back into Echo’s office within the prison no longer wearing any prison clothes or handcuffs instead looking like himself once again in his own clothes much to Echo’s delight.
“So, you vanquished a demon instead of murdering a human.” Echo said with a sense of smug in her voice. “I guess this means despite everything you’re still more charmed than demonic.”
“I’ve been stuck in here longer than needed to take out that demon, haven’t I?” Drake scoffed at the white lighter masquerading as a prison guard. “God even when I’m grieving the elders still have me doing their dirty work to the lengths, they kept me imprisoned until now once I did what they wanted.”
“What can I say the elders have their way of doing things sometimes it’s not for you or me to understand.” Echo replied, admitting Drake was right.
“You’re not like most white lighters, now are you?” Drake asked her.
“Actually, I am you charmed ones just seem to get special treatment from all your previous white lighters and look where’s that got you! The second generation of the charmed ones lasted three years.” Echo snapped at him. “I’m around to make sure the next charmed ones don’t wind up the same way.”
“Wow you’ve definitely got a way of words!” Drake replied before taking a deep sigh. “Let me talk to Quinn!”
Echo nodded in acceptance before orbing out of the room only for Quinn to orb into the room seconds later.
“Hey how are…” Quinn began to say before getting punched in the mouth by Drake.
“How dare you put me through all of this after everything I’ve been through?” Drake shouted at his former elder. “How dare you not save them and leave me to find their bodies? How could you let them keep me here?”
“I’m sorry it wasn’t my decision I voted against this, but the other elders thought it would help remind you who you are at a time when you needed it most.” Quinn revealed to him.
“So, once again you chose everyone else but me but this time it’s unforgivable.” Drake told him with tears in his eyes. “You let me lose memories of my mother when I was grieving her, you went off to chase your dream of being an elder instead of helping get me back and now you let your colleagues or whatever the hell you want to call them dump me in jail after I lost my family a family that took you in too.”
“I’ve apologised for that over and over again what more do you want from me?” Quinn asked him.
“I wanted you to be there for me you know how much it killed me losing my parents losing Eve and yet you weren’t there when I lost them.” Drake cried. “All I ever wanted was for you to choose me over everything else and yet you never did…you never will.”
“I still love you don’t ever think I’ve ever stopped loving you.” Quinn declared with tears in his eyes.
“That’s not enough,” Drake replied as he dried his tears. “Now that I’m free to go I’m going to do just that.”
“What about Charmed?” Quinn asked before Drake blinked away.
