Re skincare- $100 isn’t bad but I would compare other products to see if you’re getting the best value of actives for the price. Drunk elephant is expensive and not worth it, for example. If you’re already #blessed with good skin then spending the money might just be a waste friend.

👒 do you have a skincare routine?
ohhh i’m such a skincare girlie, i apologise in advance for how long winded this is (i worked as a skincare and beauty consultant in boots while i was at uni so this was legit all i talked about all day for 5 years lmao)
for night time, i start with a double cleanse. i like to use a really nourishing cleansing balm first to remove my makeup and spf - my personal favourites are the oat cleansing balm from inkey list and the camomile balm from the body shop. both are really affordable options in comparison to other options and work just as well (if not better) than the more expensive versions. if you’re like me and like to treat yourself to a fancier version every now and then, the elemis ones are great (i always go fragrance free because my skin is super sensitive!)
then for my second cleanse, my go-to is the paula’s choice calm ultra-gentle cleanser (again, sensitive skin) and then i go in with a liquid exfoliant (i cannot recommend enough a liquid exfoliant over ANY “exfoliating scrub” where you’re literally rubbing grit into your skin - it’s like taking sandpaper to your epidermis 💀). again, paula’s choice do an amazing 2% bha liquid exfoliant which is my fave.
then i use a serum which for me personally means i drench my face in hyluronic acid, but that depends on your skin type/needs, however that’s usually a good shout for most people because again, super gentle so great for sensitive skin.
and then always always always an unscented, lightweight moisturiser (either a lotion or gel) with calming/anti-inflammatory properties and not to sound like an ad, but the paula’s choice rescue and restore is a fave of mine, but honestly even just a simple e45 lotion does the trick if your skin isn’t super fussy - all the other products are doing the work anyway!
for morning, i’ll do a quick single cleanse, serum, moisturiser and for the love of god - SPF, my beloved. if you struggle with your spf pilling under your make up, try a spray but if there’s anything you take away from this (very long winded) ask, it’s to put spf on your face every. single. day. i let all that sink in while i do my hair, then i’ll go in with a brightening (vitamin c) or hydrating primer before make up!
ALSO if you have a skincare routine but you’re NOT sleeping on a silk a pillowcase i BEG you to get one, you’ll see so much more of a benefit of all your products/ingredients! they also do wonders for your hair.

Idk about hyperpigmentation to the degree that you described but I've found cheap vitamin C serums (best I've found is The Ordinary's if that's available to you) are at least somewhat effective in lightening dark marks from thigh rubbing and recent cuts/injuries.
oh nice ty it seem to be at boots, I'll try that out, I am kinda concerned by the sort of purple/red you've mentioned, though also don't you feel that a lot of people who don't think that hyperpigmentation is a real thing are probably white?

While sipping on cocktails on a rooftop terrace is no longer an option without embracing the cold, there’s really no need to mourn the end of summer. Look after yourself throughout autumn, and hey, you never know, it might surpass summer as your fave season. (We know that statement is a bit of a reach for many...we’re just trying to inject some positive vibes.) From dancing the night away in a fire glitter dress to levelling up your skincare routine and improving your health, we’ve got seven self-care tips to see you through autumn. 1)     Embrace the outdoors Temperatures across the UK may drop significantly in October and beyond, but there’s no need to fear the outdoors. Hot girl summer will become hot girl autumn once you add a few extra layers of clothing. Regular outdoor activities like hiking, picnics, or nature walks will do wonders for your physical and mental health. Results: I don’t like to talk shit, but I was honestly so surprised by my skin’s reaction to this, I felt I had to say something. 
Normally, I don’t use products without clean ingredients, but I received a free deluxe sample of this and thought it would be fine to try. After all, Meaningful Beauty has been around for years now, and I felt like I would have heard if there was something wrong with it. 
Immediately after application, I noticed my skin felt kind of tingly. I didn’t think much of it because I’ve used other products that have this effect and it’s usually a sign that the actives are working. However, within 3 days of using this product, I noticed my skin redness had dramatically increased. I became dry and itchy. Even my lips were dry as a bone. 
Hard to say what the cause is. I’ve never used the primary actives before - the melon stem cells and sea daffodil - but it could also be one of the other ingredients or even the added fragrance. 
Upon discontinuing use of this product, I noticed an improvement in appearance within 24 hours. I had to use a lot of oil & moisturizer to combat my flaking skin. It looks much better now though. 
Anyway, I bring it up because this seems to be a pretty popular product with lots of good reviews. I just wanted to throw my two cents in: If you have naturally occurring skin redness and/or sensitive skin, this product may not be for you. 
Comps: The Youth Activating Melon Serum is meant to combat signs of aging while increasing hydration with an antioxidant boost. Here are some serums that will do the same, but have clean ingredients to boot.
If your budget for a serum is around this price, try Juice Beauty STEM CELLULAR Anti-Wrinkle Booster Serum, STEM CELLULAR Anti-Wrinkle  Retinol Overnight Serum, or STEM CELLULAR SUPERGRAPE Youth Renew Serum; Drunk Elephant Protini PowerPeptide Resurf Serum; One Love Organics Botanical E Youth Preservation Serum; BareMinerals SKINLONGEVITY Long Life Herb Serum; or Origins Plantscription Multi-Powered Anti-Aging Peptide Serum.
If you are looking to spend a little less, these are more moderately priced: Peach & Lily Glass Skin Refining Serum; Derma-E Advanced Peptides and Flora-Collagen Serum; The Ordinary “Buffet” + Copper Peptides 1% Serum; Bliss Youth Got This Prevent-4 + Pure Retinol Advanced Skin Smoothing Serum; and Beekman 1802 Golden Booster Amla Berry Vitamin C Serum and Dream Booster Bakuchiol Better Aging Serum.
If you want to stay as low-cost as possible, there are two ways to do it. There are a few serums under 30 USD you may want to try. Undefined Beauty R&R Night Serum; Earth Harbor Celestine Hydra-Plumping Peptide Serum; WLDKAT Saffron Oat Milk Glow Serum; Kate Hudson x Juice Beauty Energizing Age Defy Cocktail Concentrate Serum; Provence Beauty Immortal NightMilk Youth Restore Facial Serum; and Pacifica Sea & C Love Serum are all great options.
My other suggestion if you want to keep costs down is to use two simpler serums that, in combination, will get you all the benefits of a high cost product. For example, Good Molecules Super Peptide Serum and Daily Brightening Serum would get you all the benefits of this serum. 
So would The Ordinary Multi-Peptide + HA Serum and one of their antioxidant support serums; they have quite a few of those, so you could pick what you like best. Some good ones to try are Ascorbic Acid 8% + Alpha Arbutin 2% Serum; Ascorbyl Glucoside Solution 12% Serum; and EUK 134 0.1% Serum. I’ve used the EUK serum myself and thought it was great. It does have some guidelines for use though, so make sure you check those out.

boots is where i get all my skincare as well!!! can i also recommend the books vitamin c moisturising cream?? i only use it 3x a week in the morning bc otherwise i might flare up but it’s done wonders for my skin, and brightens a lot of my dark spots left behind from my acne.
moisturiser wise, cerave’s moisturising lotion or the inkey list’s vitamin b, c and e moisturiser are also good options in the same price range.
im still trialling good spfs as well but the garnier one is defo the best one bc it doesn’t make you oily, doesn’t leave a white cast, and is good at fading dark spots as well!!
i was worried about the inkey lists’s cleansing balm as well because i don’t wear make up and it can feel quite thick, but it feels like it reall cleans my skin without stripping it?? if not this one then maybe a lighter cleanser like simple’s hydrating cleansing oil?? one of my faves and not expensive plus it’s not as heavy as the balm but still feels like it’s cleaning my face and doesn’t break me out (i alternate between these two mainly, as well as occasionally using cerave salicylic acid when my hormonal breakouts happen)

my extensive skincare routine for healthy, glowing skin 🪄🌟

morning 🌷
-first i wash my face with tatcha’s “the rice wash” as i like to start the day with a gentle cleanser
-if i am going out that day, i always make sure to apply my soopergoop play sunscreen
benefits of sunscreen: reduce the signs of aging, as it prevents the early onset of wrinkles and fine lines. reduce the risk of skin cancer, avoid inflammation, etc.
-next i apply the tatcha dewy skin cream, this product does wonders for glowy & soft skin!
-my next step is the yttp 15% vitamin c + clean caffeine energy serum.
vitamin c helps to brighten skin tone, act as an anti-inflammatory, boots collagen, diminish scars, lighten dark spots, etc. caffeine helps to reduce inflammation & puffiness, and tighten/brighten skin.
-as an added hydration for skin i use leneige’s water bank hydro essence serum, helps soooo much with skin hydration & moisture.
-my last step in my morning skincare is the ordinary’s hyaluronic acid. hyaluronic acid promotes healthier skin, it naturally occurs in the body & getting that extra boost can help so much with attracting & holding onto moisture.

first i mix the inkey lists salicylic acid cleanser & the dermalogica clearing skin wash to reduce & fight off acne.
-next step is the glow recipe’s watermelon glow pha + bha pore tight toner. this has definitely helped with giving me the glowy, hydrated look while also reducing the appearance of pores.
-next i reapply the laneige water bank hydro essence serum & the tatcha glow recipe
-i also reapply the ordinary’s hyaluronic acid, this time directly before my gua sha routine to give my skin a slippery, hydrated base. here is a link to the video i use for the gua sha routine 🤍

-a few times a week i will do my slugging routine, slugging is applying a petroleum jelly (vaseline, aquaphor, i use aquaphor) to your skin overnight for moisturized, glowing skin. slugging works by preventing trans epidural water loss so the skin barrier is protected.

Jaskier clambered into bed, non-slip sock-clad feet daintily pointed as he slid beneath cool linens, fussing with the edges of the fluffy goose-down duvet until it was covering him to his satisfaction. Predictably, this nesting ritual was interrupted when his half-asleep boyfriend – seriously, who goes to bed at eight-thirty? – rolled over, one enormous arm slung over Jaskier’s chest, the heat of him crowding in a cuddle. Jaskier only pretended to grumble before he nuzzled closer to Geralt.
“S’the time?” Geralt slurred.
“Half one, dearest. Shh now, go back to sleep.”
“Mmm.” Geralt agreed, tilting his chin up, hot breath whuffing against Jaskier’s cheek. “Y’smell pretty.”
“Do I?”
“Like... honey.” Geralt said. And then he ran his tongue along Jaskier’s cheek. “Hmm, berry seeds.”
“Geralt!” Jaskier squealed, even as he fought back a giggle at the swipe of mouth, “That’s my new night cream! Don’t lick it off, you dolt, I need it for my beauty rest.”
“You’re plenty beautiful anyway.” Geralt mumbled, words trailing off into the meat of Jaskier’s bicep as he willingly succumbed back to slumber.

“Oh, this packaging,” Jaskier griped, storming out of their shared bathroom, “it’s so deceptive! I paid out the arse for this eye cream, and the damn thing is nearly empty!”
“That’s, uh, capitalism, I guess.” Geralt offered, utterly unschooled in the ways of beauty marketing. With a pair of reading glasses perched upon his nose, he was absorbed with a journal regarding exorcism rites and their correlations to mental well-being. Jaskier called it his ‘ghosty woo-woo nonsense’.
“Robbery, is what it is.” Jaskier said, placing the cream on his nightstand. He sighed dramatically. “Organic products are so pricey.”
“I saw a nice scrub at the shop,” Geralt looked up, “apricot or something. Blue lid. Was on sale.”
Jaskier visibly recoiled. “St Ives? Good heavens, man, I’d sooner wash my face with a bar of soap. Urgh, no, no. No thank you.”
Geralt – who often washed his face with a bar of soap – shrugged, and returned to his reading. “You don’t need to buy that stuff if you don’t want to.”
“But you won’t love me when I’m not all soft!” Jaskier whined, draping himself across Geralt’s legs. “When I’m wrinkly and, and old—”
“Like I am?”
“Pish posh and poppycock. You get more handsome with every year. Me, I must work for it.”
“Jaskier,” Geralt sighed fondly, “I don’t love you because of your blemish-free skin. I love you.”
Nibbling at his lower lip, Jaskier affectionately hugged Geralt’s knees. “You’re so sweet. I love you, too. ...I am gonna buy some more eye cream tomorrow, though.”
“M’kay, babe.” Geralt turned the page.

“Darling!” Jaskier yelled, three rooms away, as was his wont, “How drunk was I last night?”
Sensibly, Geralt put the mixing bowl full of salsa ingredients down so that he could go converse with his partner at an acceptable volume. He found Jaskier in the bedroom. “On a scale of one to ten? Nine-ish.”
“Oh, blast.” Jaskier sighed, swirling a glass vial in his hand. “I think I must’ve spilled my vitamin C serum.”
“Your what?”
“My cold-pressed, virgin Sicilian orange serum?” Jaskier prompted. “Bought it a few days ago.”
“Smells like orange and lemons.” Geralt supplied, twiddling his thumbs.
“It does, love.” Jaskier’s eyes narrowed as he honed in on his boyfriend’s nervous tell, the back-and-forth rub of his fingers on knuckles. “Do you know what happened to it?”
Geralt cleared his throat and shrugged non-commitally. “Guess you spilled it.”
Geralt was many things, but a good liar was not one of them. Jaskier stared him down, and Geralt eventually ducked his head, pouting at his boots.
“Have you been using it, Geralt?”
“How can you tell if an orange is a virgin, anyway?” Geralt muttered.
The question was left-field enough to disarm Jaskier, who laughed, and considered the possibilities of it. “Actually, you know, I’ve no idea. Further to that – who fucks an orange? Or do the oranges fuck each other?”
Geralt grinned, and let Jaskier run down the path of his own tangent.

“Gera-a-a-alt,” Jaskier whined, knocking on the bathroom door, “I need a wee-wee. Hurry up!”
“Don’t come in!”
Jaskier squinted at the door. “Why?”
“I, uh, just... don’t!” Geralt snapped.
“What are you doing in there? Are you alright?”
“Nothing!”
There was the sound of clattering. Jaskier raised an eyebrow. “Geralt?”
“I’m—I’m having a wank! Go away!”
“Ooh, but you know I’d love to help—”
“It’s--a really intense wank! You don't wanna see!”
“Alright,” Jaskier picked up a teaspoon on the dresser to turn the lock from the outside, “now I’m definitely coming in.”
“No! It’s, I—”
Standing in the open door, Jaskier gawked at Geralt, surrounded by moisturisers and exfoliators and masques, opened and spread around him in a semi-circle. Some of them were on his face. More importantly, they were around his mouth.
“Geralt?”
“I can explain!”
“Have—have you been eating my beauty regime?”
Geralt flushed scarlet, and licked some cherry scrub off the corner of his lips. “If—if they aren’t for eating, then why do they smell so nice?”
Jaskier stared at him. The carnage, the expense – the ridiculousness of it all. He began to laugh, belly-deep, bent over until he was wheezing and aching and tears were marching down his cheeks. Geralt watched, guiltily licking some day cream from between his fingers.
“Oh, mercy. Geralt, you truly are something else. You absolute pillock of a witcher, I am so mad at you right now!”
“I... like that they taste of you.” Geralt mumbled, avoiding Jaskier’s stern eyes.
“You are buying me more.” Jaskier instructed, rubbing a fond thumb along Geralt’s cheekbone, silently asking him to look up. “And from now, you are only to taste it upon my skin, not from the jar. Are we agreed?”
With a wobbly smile, Geralt nodded. “I’m sorry.”
“I know you are. C’mon, let’s clean this up.”
After that, if there was an extra tube of honey and raspberry moisturiser in Jaskier’s shopping, or if he left a tub of peppermint hand lotion out on the kitchen counter for Geralt to come across? Happy accidents, that was all.

Hey I've been following your blog for awhile and I know we're both in our late 20's. I only unfortunately recently started getting into skincare and actually wearing SPF so my skin has suffered :( Are there any skincare products to fight aging that you swear by? You have such lovely skin. Like..It's perfect. I use Aveeno SPF 30 lotion, vitamin C serum, retinol, and Cetaphil moisturizer at night. What else do you suggest, if anything? Unless you're just blessed.
First of all, thank you, that's so nice! I will say that my skin probably isn't as good as you're imagining, because when you see me I'm almost always in front of a window or a ring light and because I color filter my videos for aesthetic consistency. That said, I am into skincare and I'm totally happy to give some advice.
In general, the first thing I would say is to know your skin type and identify your skin concerns. If your skin is dry (like mine), you'll need different products from someone who's skin is oily. If your skin is sensitive, there will be products that people swear by that won't work for you. If you're looking to prevent wrinkles or treat acne, there are specific ingredients to look for in your skincare products.
Once you know your skin type, you can put together a skincare routine with your particular concerns in mind. Generally, you want a cleanser, moisturizer, and sunscreen to start with. The cleanser and moisturizer you can use in the morning and at night (unless you have dry skin, in which case, only use it at night), and sunscreen just in the morning.
SPF is the most important product for anti-aging, since a lot of visible aging is due to UV damage. Retinoids (retinol, adapalene, tretinoin) are the other ingredient family that have a lot of research backing them as anti-aging products. You have to use them consistently for 3-6 months before you'll see results. If you're going to use retinoids, sunscreen becomes doubly important because they increase your sensitivity to sun. Vitamin C has less evidence to support it as an anti-aging skincare product, but if it works for you, there's no harm in using it.
In terms of specific products, here are some things to look for and products that people typically like. If you love the products you're already using and they work for you, I wouldn't make any changes.
Cleansers:
Basically for cleansers, you're just looking for something that takes off all of the product or buildup on your face, and that doesn't make your skin feel irritated, tight, dry, or ‘squeaky clean'.
Cleansers that people typically like include: CeraVe Hydrating Cleanser, CeraVe Foaming Cleanser, Bioderma Micellar Water, e.l.f Holy hydration! Makeup melting cleansing balm, Simple Micellar Water.
Sunscreens:
Look for a sunscreen that is SPF 30+ for UVB. There are a few different ways of measuring UVA protection, but generally you want something that's labeled PPD 8+ or PA+++, PPD of 8, UVA Seal, or a Boots star rating of at least 3. If you're in the US, products labeled "broad spectrum" provide some UVA protection, but it doesn't tell you how much protection you're getting.
If you're lazy (like me), you can find a sunscreen that's also a moisturizer. Make sure that you put a lot of product on, because if you don't use enough sunscreen, you won't get the benefits.
Sunscreens that people typically like include: Nivea Sun Protect Super Water Gel, Biore UV Aqua Rich Watery Essence, Neutrogena Clear Face Break-Out Free Liquid Lotion Sunscreen, Etude House Sunprise Mild Watery Light, and Eucerin Sun Fluid Sensitive Protect.
Good sunscreens that double as moisturizers include: CeraVe Ultra Light Moisturizer, Cetaphil PRO Oil Absorbing Moisturizer, Olay Total Effects Anti-Aging Moisturizer, Olay Complete Defence Daily UV Moisturising Lotion, and CeraVe Moisturizing Lotion AM.
Moisturizers:
Look for products with occlusives, which seal in water, humectants, which attract water to the skin, and emollients, which smooth rough skin and make it flexible and soft.
Moisturizers people typically like are: Neutrogena Hydro Boost Water Gel, CosRx Advanced Snail 92 All In One Cream, CeraVe Facial Moisturizing Lotion PM, Cetaphil Moisturizing Lotion, Cetaphil Moisturizing Cream, Bioderma Sensibio Light, and the CeraVe Moisturizing Cream.
Retinoids:
Start by using a retinoid 1-2 times a week. You can increase it gradually if your skin tolerates it well, but you don't necessarily need to use it every day. Typically, retinol is a good place to start, since it's gentler than other retinoid options.
Retinols that people typically like include: Superfacialist Anti-Aging Serum (0.01%), Paula’s Choice Resist Intensive Wrinkle Repair Serum (0.1%), Paula’s Choice Resist Skin Smoothing Body Treatment (0.1%), Alpha Skincare Deep Wrinkle Repair (0.15%), SkinPrep 0.5% Retinol (0.5%), The Ordinary 0.2% Retinol, 0.5% Retinol, & 1% Retinol.
Last but not least, here are the products that I use. Like I said before, my skin is dry, and it's prone to redness if I'm not hydrating it frequently enough.
Cleanser: Bioderma Sensibio Micellar Water
Moisturizer: CosRx Advanced Snail 92 All In One Cream
SPF: CeraVe AM Facial Moisturizing Lotion with Sunscreen
I'm planning on switching out my sunscreen to the No Megumi Morning UV Protection Cream, which has higher protection (SPF 50 + / PA ++++). It's supposed to be a 5-in-1 anti-aging cream that replaces toner, serum, cream, hydrating mask, sunscreen and makeup primer, and that has 50 types of moisturizing ingredients for dry skin. I have absolutely no idea if it actually does any of those things, but I've heard great things about it as a product, so I'm excited to try it out.

How to deal with dry skin 🏜
Dry skin can be an issue all year round - the coldness of winter can suck up skin’s moisture, and the humidity and heat of summer can also make dry skin hard to deal with. So, it’s important to have a routine in place no matter the weather so that silky, soft skin can be yours in a snap. Here are 4 easy tips for dealing with dry skin 😎 
1. Use a creamy cleanser   
The best way to start your routine for dry skin is to use a creamy, non-foaming cleanser. If you use a foamy cleanser that’s made for oilier skin types, any remaining moisture left in your skin can get washed away and you’ll be left with that tight, uncomfortable feeling afterwards. Look for ingredients such as vitamin E to start the day the right way.
2. Try a toner 
The whole point of using a toner in your skincare routine is to keep your skin’s pH level intact and to make sure no hydration is lost after cleansing. So toning is doubly important if you have skin on the drier side. Try using a toner that has rosewater or glycerin in it, to really seal in moisture and to calm down your skin at the same time. You can even use a mist toner throughout the day to top up your moisture levels whenever you need to. 
3. Slip and slide with the right moisturiser 
We all know moisturising is important for all skin types, but it’s even more necessary to make sure you’re using the right moisturiser for your particular skin concern. Dry skin types should look for moisturisers containing emollients and ceramides, as these lock in hydration by trapping and retaining moisture in the skin. In the evenings, try using a facial oil for a hefty hit of nourishment, as these penetrate deeper into the skin and give you a gorgeous glow to boot. 
4. Moisturise with a mask 
To treat your skin (and yourself!) during the week, try using a sheet mask to gain all the benefits of a serum in one go. Sheet masks are perfect for dry skin as they’re drenched in skin-loving ingredients like vitamin C, hyaluronic acid and chamomile and don’t strip the skin in the way that clay masks do. You can also use the serum left over in the mask’s packet on your neck and hands, so that every bit of you is taken care of and feeling velvety soft ☁️

Great news Boots skincare products are now 'officially' cruelty free and many also vegan. Yay. All the new ranges/products, and slightly more expensive products now feature the bunny. These two ranges still just have it listed on the website.
Here I have the Glow (£4) & Vitamin C ranges (£4 & £1.50);
Moisture cream
Essence serum
Brightening mist
Pineapple serum
Brightening and hydrating eye cream
Brightening moisturising cream
Sheet Mask
(in the back ground) Micellar water (£3, which I've yet to try, but so far I've found most micellar waters to be similar and do what they claim)
I wouldn't be without the Glow essence serum or brightening mist. Love them. We had double discount today (skincare also 3for2), I picked up a couple more of each and a few other bits I like or have wanted to try. I wouldn't buy the glow moisturiser again, found that yes it evens skin tone, but unfortunately doesn't moisturise enough for me (good for oilier skins). Nothing wrong with the vitamin c one in terms of benefits, but, the scent wasn't great, reminded me of citrus bathroom cream cleaner, I have moisturisers around this price I prefer so I won't be rebuying. I don't think the eyecream does anything, most importantly whilst using it up, it sinks in easily with no irritation. Pineapple serum was nice, additional moisturising, but nothing special, doubt I'd get it again. I'll no longer be buying mud masks or sheet masks, I got some bits and bobs for xmas & bday and am able to make my own. This one was good, especially for the price, moisturising and toning, skin left feeling refreshed and soft.

This year along with continuing with finding cheap/affordable CF products, I'm looking to find products where the packaging is recyclable, the Glow tubes are not, another reason I won't be rebuying.
