Ingredients:

1.5 oz. Woodford Reserve Bourbon cherries (8 Amarena cherries, 1 liter bottle of Woodford Reserve) Sit for one day and fine strain

.5 oz. Apple Cider Demerara (1:1 sugar in the raw and apple cider) Simmer and Cool

3 Dashes Garam Masala Bitters

Directions:

Build in mixing glass, stir and serve over a large ice cube. Garnish with two white chocolate Amarena cherries.

My favorite season is Fall Teas Season. I wait all year for TeBella Tea Company to bring back Apple Cider Chai — it’s the rich spiciness of Masala Chai paired with apple and bright orange zest. I LOVE IT. It also makes one hell of a simple syrup, and works just as well with gin and tequila as it does bourbon. This Apple Cider Chai Old Fashioned is equal parts cozy and sophisticated. Like Meg Ryan in You’ve Got Mail. Recipe: *Apple Cider Chai Syrup 2tbsp Apple Cider Chai loose tea 2tsbp raw honey 6oz water Steep the tea and honey together for 3 min. Stir before straining. 2oz bourbon .75 oz apple cider chai syrup* 3 dashes orange bitters 1 orange wedge Orange zest and cinnamon stick to garnish In a mixing glass, add the orange wedge, syrup, bitters, and bourbon. Give it a stir, then add plenty of ice. Stir with the ice to chill, about 30 seconds. In a glass, strain the drink over ice. Garnish with orange zest and a cinnamon stick. The cinnamon stick will lightly infuse the drink over time, I love it.

Life Updates and Such...

Soooo.... many things! At the moment, I've finally pulled myself somewhat out of the doldrums caused by lack-of-job + job-search-sucks and am making all the preparations for celebrating the end of this year and the start of a new one.

I think I've binged something like 30+ anime series in the last month or so, along with reading many many books.

Today, I've finally got some bots working in the Creator's Cave discord, to make things a bit easier there. There are more updates I still need to do, but it's a start.

My hope for this week, is that in addition to my preparations for New Year's, I'll be able to actually finish my project of turning some of my flower photos into TS3 art. No promises, but I'm hopeful.

Below the cut, for the curious or nosy, the menu and preparations for New Year's.

Before anyone starts to wonder... two of the friends coming to my place for New Year's are really really into Pumpkin, so this is reflected here. Yes, this is probably too much food and drink for... 6 people, but hey... leftovers.

Sweet As Pie

Addison Montgomery x reader Warnings: minor language, minor mentions of alcohol, just all fluff. A wee lil drabble folks, covering the "autumn festival" square for @adarafaelbarba 's bingo!

Despite thoroughly enjoying her stint out in Los Angeles, Addison had to admit, she was glad to be back in Seattle. Sure, it rained a hell of a lot more, but honestly it rained in California too, and at least here she got to actually experience proper seasons. Her favourite of which was autumn, made even the more better by the fact that it also happened to be your favourite. It was an easy discovery, the two of you had gotten together during the winter, spending the spring falling in love and the summer on a lavish vacation split between New York and the Hamptons. It was on a walk late one night that you stepped on a crunchy orange leaf and let out a probably over dramatic gasp, thrilled at the first leaf of autumn. Once the two of you were back in Seattle you were all the rage in planning weekly date nights of every single autumn themed thing you could think of.

Addi spent weekends in the kitchen with you, peeling apples to make cider, pies and jams. You eagerly decorated the house for Halloween, mainly on the outside with a few things right in the entry way for the trick or treaters to see on Halloween night. You curled up on the couch every Friday with a new fall themed movie, cozy sweaters, warm blankets and mugs of spiked warm apple cider. You went through your yearly pumpkin phase, smiling warmly and filled with so much love when Addison would bring home every and each pumpkin flavoured treat she found.

One of your favourite things to do together each fall was the Harvest Festival at Pike Place Market.

You strolled through the market hand in hand, stopping in at nearly all the stalls, either picking things up or making a mental note to buy the bigger, heavier things on the way out. You sampled more than your fair share of treats and drinks, indulging in as many of the boozy options as you could, knowing you had the next day off. One of your personal favourite parts of the festival was the professional pumpkin carving contest, and they weren’t your run of the mill pumpkins, they were all giant, very oversized ones leading into a very dramatic contest. One that Addison couldn’t help but beam down at you at just how excited it made you and how into it you got, yelling and cheering the contestants on, taking bets on who was going to end up winning.

You enjoyed the live music, live art demos and even more before winding your way back through the marketplace. You’d barter with each other on what things you wanted to buy on the way out, Addison usually presenting the argument that two of the things you wanted were basically the exact same and you’d simply giggle, pressing a soft kiss to her lips before explaining how you thought they were different. Naturally, you’d always win, leaving the market with full bags and even fuller, happier hearts. On the walk home you’d pick up a few leaves here and there, only the prettiest ones that you deemed worthy of saving, pressing them between sheets of wax paper in the biggest books in the house later on.

Once home, Addison would press a gentle kiss to the side of your head, placing the bags down onto the kitchen island before darting away to change, bringing you back the coziest of sweaters. In the meantime you’d put away everything you’d bought, turning the stove on to heat up some beef and stout stew you’d picked up at the market. There were autumn apple bourbon fizz premade cocktails to pour out into your favourite glasses and freshly homemade pumpkin pie for dessert too. Addi surprised you with crispy yet still fluffy sourdough bread to server the stew in and she couldn’t help but chuckle at the sudden sparkle in your eye at the thought.

After you’d served everything up she’d wrap a steady arm around your waist, kissing your cheek softly as the two of you wandered back into the living room and settled on the couch. The television was turned on to Practical Magic and a small smile would break out on both of your cheeks as the rain began to patter against the windows. The day of the festival was always the most magical, somehow one of the most romantic days of your year together, and it always ended just as wonderful, with the two of you curled up on the couch with some incredible food, drinks, entertainment and most importantly, the person you fancied the most in the entire world.

You let out a happy hum, nuzzling into Addison’s shoulder and she smiled, leaving a kiss on the top of your head.

“You have a good day?”

“How could I not?” You turned your head to look up at her, “I mean, every day with you is already the perfect day. This one just had the added bonus of autumn stuff.” She couldn’t help but laugh softly.

“You’re sweeter than pumpkin pie, you know that?”

“Only for you baby. Only for you.”

Yes, there truly was something incredibly tender about autumn in the Montgomery household, and you would forever and always be thankful that you got to spend the season and holidays together, because there was no place either of you would ever be.

Pathologic characters as alcoholic drinks

Straight drinks rather than cocktails, though I might be persuaded to aliken them to cocktails as well at some point. Included are all the adult characters about whom I have a good enough gauge on their vibe, so some are left out (sorry Georgiy and Oyun its nothing personal i just don't know you like that).

Aglaya – white wine. Exudes a sombre feminity, and can be quite cold.

Alexander Block – vodka. Straightforward, blunt. He loves the zakuski also – gotta have a pickle with the shots.

Alexander Saburov – cognac. Stern man, stern drink.

Andrey – chacha. A Georgian brandy ranging from 50% to 85% alcohol content. Very potent, it sort of… punches you when you drink it.

Anna – advocaat. It’s a Dutch liqueur made from eggs, sugar and brandy. Very thick, almost sickly sweet, sort of cloying at the back of your throat.

Artemy – Riga black balsam or another kind of balsam. Herbal and rich, warms you up.

Aspity – Campari. Herbal and bitter, rarely drunk straight.

Daniil – bourbon. Classy, straddles the line between sophisticated and simple.

Eva – prosecco. Light, airy, easy on you but easily can take you by surprise. Bubblies aren’t strong alcohol but they can leave a wicked hangover if overindulged.

Katerina – cough syrup (old school). Herbal; the ethanol content bites at the throat strongly, but soon is soothed when the codeine kicks in.

Lara – mulled wine. Warming and cozy with a certain spiciness about it.

Mark – dark spiced rum. Creative and chaotic.

Maria – cranberry liqueur, especially the kind that’s bottled with whole berries in it. Sweet but with a pleasant bitter/sour undertone. Also it’s red.

Peter – absinthe. No comment needed.

Rubin – gin. Strong, herbal (some have an almost overwhelming juniper flavour to it); most people can’t/won’t drink it straight because it’s rather unpleasant unless mixed in a drink.

Vladimir Olgimsky the older – mead. Well known, simple but all the more comfortable and demanded for it.

Vladimir Olgimsky the younger – hard cider. Fresh, fruity, summery.

Victor – whiskey. No comment.

Yulia – calvados. A French brandy made from apples or pears. Despite an overwhelmingly pleasant aroma has a very strong bite.

EDIT:

Oyun - tarasun. An alcoholic beverage drunk by the Buryat people of Siberia. Tarasun is a "highly alcoholic colourless liquid" prepared by distillation and fermentation of a mare's milk. It is described as a form of "milk whisky". (suggested by @qawerian)

Roy Choi’s The Cheetos Flamin’ Hot Spot Menu

Born out of a collaboration with LA chef Roy Choi, the Cheetos Flamin’ Hot Spot was exactly as advertised- a pop-up restaurant with a menu featuring Flamin’ Hot Cheetos-based items. 

The food included:

the Flamin’ Hot Elotes, buttered corn covered in Flamin’ Hot Cheetos Puffs and White Cheddar Cheetos Puffs, 

Cheetos Sweet n’ Spicy Chili Meatballs, Xxtra Flamin’ Hot Cheetos-infused pork and beef meatballs covered with a powder of Xxtra Flamin’ Hot Cheetos and sitting atop a layer of sweet and spicy chili sauce,

Flamin’ Hot Chipotle Ranch Wings, sweet and spicy chili sauce-covered chicken wings covered in Flamin’ Hot Chipotle Ranch Cheetos dust,

Xxtra Flamin’ Hot Rice Bowl, marinated broccoli or grilled chicken mixed with rice, cilantro, chili sour cream sauce, sesame seeds, and Xxtra Flamin’ Hot Cheetos dust, 

Flamin’ Hot Fries, regular (or Flamin’ Hot) Cheetos drizzled with melted cheese, sesame seeds, cilantro, and chili sour cream sauce,

the Hot Cheetos Burrito, an avocado or short rib burrito with “cheese”, “more cheese”, chili sour cream sauce, and Flamin’ Hot Cheetos,

the Five-Alarm Cheetos Steak, a literally flaming Cheddar Jalapeno Cheetos-seasoned 8oz ribeye steak with a side of cheesy rice.

Cheetos Sweetos Hot Cakes, Caramel Sweetos pancakes covered in extra Sweetos, chocolate sprinkles, and whipped cream,

and Chester Cheetah’s Cheeto Churros, churros made of fried pound cake covered in Simply White Cheddar Cheetos dust, sugar, whipped cream, and caramel. 

Meanwhile, the themed drinks available were: 

the “Hot” Chocolate Shake, a chocolate ice cream milkshake with crushed Flamin’ Hot Cheetos and raspberries (and garnished with more of the same),

and the cocktails, whose existing images are unfortunately impossible to discern given the warm lighting in the venue and the variety of glasses utilized:

Heat Control, white rum mixed with Crystal Pepsi, coconut water, and citric acid,

The Bubly Hydrant, bourbon with Applebubly, apple cider, and an apple slice,

the Fire Extinguisher, tequila with Grapefruitbubly, grapefruit juice, lime juice, orange liqueur, and a lime garnish,

Cool Off, Hot Stuff, Nolet’s Gin, simple syrup, lemon juice, and jalapeno and cucumber slices,

The Fizzy Spice Fix, Belvedere vodka with prosecco and honeydew shrub

The Spiced Kick, spiced rum with Pepsi and lime,

and Infuego, Bulleit Rye whiskey and Kentucky bourbon with orange and angostura bitters and sugar cube.

Festive Fall Wedding Ideas

Fire Up the Fondue

Served with apple and pear pieces and sliced baguette, cheese fondue makes for a hearty (and interactive!) group appetizer at the start of dinner.

Try Fresh-Picked Placecards

Clove-adorned apple place cards are such a seasonally appropriate way to welcome guests to their seat. (Added bonus: they smell great!) To create, draw your letter on paper, cut out, and tape to an apple. Using a straight pin, lightly prick along the outside of the letter, “tracing” the outline onto the apple. Remove the paper, and push cloves into the apple, staying within the outline.

Decorate with Dried Wheat

This pretty neutral strikes a sophisticated, textured feel for fall weddings. Try it in a pair of welcoming wreaths at the entrance to your ceremony or reception.

Serve Pretzels as a Late-Night Snack

Honor Oktoberfest with a late-night snack display of soft pretzels. Pro tip: pair with an assortment of German mustards (try Löwensenf and Alstertor) for a bout of tangy taste-testing.
