This is stupid. This is really fucking stupid. Hanging out in Bruce Yamada's backyard? He doesn't do that.

Bruce Yamada is stupid. With his stupid brown eyes and his stupid smile and his stupid perfect hair. 

What is he even doing here?

Hanging out with Bruce Yamada. That's what. 

Vance is sitting at the bottom of the back porch steps, watching Bruce set up that stupid perch thing that he puts his baseballs on to bat. 

Everything is kind of weird. He was kind of nice to the idiot once because his stupid goddamn smile makes him kind of warm inside and Bruce took a liking to him for whatever fucked up reason and they got to talking now he has a boyfriend.

What the fuck?

Bruce tosses a baseball back and forth in his hands. "You're always so grouchy," he teases.

Vance grunts. "What, 'cause you're always such a ray of fucking sunshine?"

Well . . . yeah. He kind of is. 

Bruce just laughs and sets the ball atop that perch thing and Vance doesn't know how someone so soft can like him.

"I've been told I am," Bruce says.

"I guess you're the type," Vance grumbles.

"You're my type." He almost blushes at that. Almost. Bruce picks his bat off the ground and adjusts his grip on it. He gives him a glance over his shoulder. "What's your type, anyway?" He adjusts his stance, winding the bat back a few times to get a feel for it. 

Vance rolls his eyes. "Fuck if I know. Whatever you are, I guess."

Bruce hits the ball, watching it soar across his yard, and laughs. It knocks against the grass by the far back gate as he turns to Vance, dragging his bat behind him. "You sure know how to flatter a guy." He drops his bad and squats in front of him, tilting his head. "You could at least act like you like me."

Vance fiddles his thumbs in his lap. This whole boyfriend thing is very new. "I do like you," he grumbles. 

Bruce moves a little closer, smiling softly. He stretches a hand out to touch his face. "You're so grumpy."

Vance slaps his hand away. "Stop it."

Bruce chuckles and cranes his neck forward to kiss him. 

He actually blushes this time, feels his face get all hot as his hands go limp in his lap. 

The kiss ends almost as quickly as it starts, punctuated by a quick little peck before Bruce away and stands back up, setting another baseball out of his pocket on that perch thing. "You're all red," he teases,

Vance crosses his arms, moping. "Oh, fuck off."

But he feels kind of warm on the inside.

I hc that Vance is left handed and really good at drawing and he told Bruce that he looked like something he drew with his left hand and Bruce didn’t even realise it was a compliment bc that sentence is normally used as an insult

Vance: You too?

Vance: He said he was going to beat my high score in pinball then make sure Bruce lost his games and blamed it on me, then he said he was going to burn all my jackets and shave me bald. He also said he would tell Griffin to stop studying with me so I would fail.

Vance: He also said he was gonna call my po officer on me and say I stabbed someone.

Griffin: Think he said that to Bruce or Billy?
