Space Romance Au

Pretty much Earth sends out people on missions to research alien flora and fauna. They arrive on a distant planet and live in like a portable housing/research station. The station has good housing quarters and labs filled with the best equipment. Also each station has a food replicator. Usually these stations are only manned by one human. Mostly everything is automatic. And Missa is part of this project and is currently manned on the recently found planet coined Vita Viridis.

Vita Viridis is an oxygen rich planet whose natural flora experience gigantism. It’s heavily forested with flora reaching almost unnatural proportions. It tends to be a mild climate but does have typical seasons. It’s tends to rain often and it’s common for bodies of water to dot the surface. So often in fact that Missa usually goes around by boat.

The station Missa resides in is on an island in a middle of a swamp which the roots of the massive trees delve into. It’s the only dry land he saw when he landed so he had to make do. And also why he takes full advantage of the water to explore Vita Viridis.

But the fact is Missa soon realizes he is not alone. Introducing the humanoid insectoid species of Vita Viridis. (Thank you @changeling-ash for all of these)

Genus: Sapien Vitari (Wise Vitari)

The common name is Vitari. Named after the planet as it’s the dominant species. And one Vitari is very attached to Missa. A Vitari named Phil. Missa saved him from a giant spider web and he now wants to court the pretty human. And does make himself known often to Missa. He is fully sentient but unable to speak human languages.

Vitari communicate by complicated vocalizations including clicks, chirps, trills, rattles and buzzing. Though they can eventually be taught human languages. Vitari also use wing vibrations to communicate as well.

Missa at first was terrified of Phil because he has common sense and healthy sense of what is dangerous. But it wasn’t long until he found out Phil was pretty harmless and mostly curious (Though it does take him a bit longer to realize that Phil wants to court him)

Vitari have elytra that can make them able to fly. Silver or black are the most common colorings. They also have a stinger of sorts that puts venom into whatever they are hunting. They have black sclera with strange pupils. Their elytra is very fast. Their skin is mostly cartilage but can be numerous shades. They tend to wear basic like robes made from spider silk though some Vitari tribes have ways to dye the silk. And some Vitari communities have made full blown cities deep in the forest. Though it’s more common for Vitari to live isolated lives from the rest of their species.

Anyways Phil is courting human missa. This includes serenades. Mainly flapping his wings to create vibrations (not like actually singing). Phil also does elaborate dances and show off with his flying. Also just in general fly close to him (For example in real life male flies would fly close to female flies for attention). Another big thing is the nuzzles. Phil loves to nuzzle into missa hair or shoulder. Also loves to bump foreheads together. Another thing common in real life is insects prepare a meal for females. So Phil keeps trying to feed Missa with strange creatures he hunted. He eventually learns Missa prefers alien fruits and therefore gathers that for him instead. (Yes Missa falls victim to puppy eyes on his alien love interest and goes against all his common sense and eats the fruit. It’s delicious)

Missa has to contact the crew on earth with new findings and just in general checking he is fine and healthy. And they make fun of him so much for going against basic scientific principles and eating foods he doesn’t know how it would affect his human body. Missa too enamored by sweet alien to not accept his gifts. If he gets poisoned he gets poisoned.

Vitari live in hidden treehouses in the canopy. It tends to use whatever is around them to make it though they make the floor soft with fur and moss to sleep on. And they tend to hoard materials for either expanding their nest of sorts or stock food items. They also make simple tools to help them with their day to day. Vitari are pretty smart.

I personally like to imagine during the period Missa didn’t realize Phil has a crush on him and is courting him the Vitari way is when he had to contact the base on earth about his findings and research and Phil just climbed into his lap for cuddles and nuzzles. As he buzzes and chirps happily. His higher ups are concerned at first that he somehow got the dominant species to want to court him. But he is still doing excellent work so it’s fine with them.

Tarlos (9-1-1 lonestar) Sickfic pt. 2

T.K. was woken up by Carlos lurching out of his arms to lean over the side of the bed with a harsh gag.

"Shit," T.K. said under his breath. He didn't know how much time had passed but judging by how tired he felt, he doubted it had been long. He tried to blink his eyes awake as he scooted over to wrap an arm around Carlos's chest. He'd looked like he was about to spill out of the bed.

"I've got you baby," he said, taking more of Carlos's weight as he leaned further over the side to heave and retch over the trash can. There was nothing left for him to bring up, but his body clearly hadn't gotten the message.

"I-can't-" Carlos gasped in between gags, moaning in pain as his stomach continued to clench.

"Try to breath honey, you're all worked up right now," T.K. said, wrapping his arm tighter around Carlos and rubbing his other hand up and down his back. "Breathe with me, okay? You're done, you're all done."

Carlos let out a sob as he went almost completely limp, body spent. Thankfully T.K. had already been supporting a lot of his weight, and was able to prevent him from falling off the bed and pull him back up. Tears streamed down his face.

"Shh, shh, shh, it's all gonna be alright baby," T.K. shushed gently, pulling Carlos into his arms and holding him.

"No-I-wait-" Carlos protested, weakly pushing away from T.K. to turn back toward the trash can on the floor.

"There's nothing left baby, you're empty I promise," T.K. shook his head, holding him tightly to keep him where he was.

"I feel so sick," Carlos shook his head, trying to push away again.

"Hey, hey listen, I know, okay? But I promise you, there's nothing left in your stomach to throw up. And even if you did, it would not be the worst thing I've had on me, not by far," T.K. explained.

That seemed to be enough to convince Carlos because he relaxed into T.K.'s arms. Carlos's shaky breaths slowly calmed, his stomach along with it. He still felt horrible, but the overwhelming nausea had receded for the moment.

"Think you could try and go back to sleep?" T.K. asked after a while.

"I don't know," Carlos answered honestly. He was exhausted, but he wasn't sure that his stomach would let him sleep. His whole body was starting to ache too.

"Do you want to go watch some tv out in the living room then?" T.K. suggested, hoping that a distraction could help him get back to sleep.

"Okay," Carlos nodded. "You don't have to," he added, feeling horrible for keeping T.K. up practically all night after his long shift. Even though the thought of going through this alone made him want to cry again.

"No.. I'm not just going to leave you to fend for yourself when you're so sick baby," T.K. shook his head.

"I'm sorry.." Carlos said miserably, sitting up in T.K.'s lap to drop his head into his hands.

"Hey, look at me," T.K. said, gently tilting Carlos's head up by his chin. "I want to take care of you okay? And yeah, I am tired, but I'm okay. I'll probably just fall asleep on the couch out there, that way I'll wake up if you need me," T.K. said.

"Okay," Carlos sniffled, a few stray tears falling down his cheeks. T.K. reached up to wipe them away with his thumb.

"Okay," T.K. said, smiling softly at his boyfriend.

He helped Carlos carefully get off the bed and slowly trudge out to the living room. T.K. helped get him settled on the couch with his pillow and a blanket, then set the trash can up in front of him again, just in case.

"What do you want to watch?" he asked, turning the tv on.

Carlos just shrugged, looking horribly pale in the light from the tv. T.K. turned on grey's anatomy, one of Carlos's guilty pleasure shows, then set the remote on the coffee table where Carlos could reach it if he wanted to. Then he climbed onto the couch behind him.

"I probably am going to fall asleep soon baby, but please wake me up if you need anything okay?" T.K. said as he wrapped his arms around Carlos, who curled up to him in turn.

"Mmm," Carlos hummed against T.K.'s chest.

T.K. kissed Carlos's forehead, then brought a hand up to card his fingers through Carlos's curls, hoping to put him to sleep before he fell asleep himself.

Plus a couple variations on the same pattern. I'm not quite sure the two stylizations of pillbugs and the ladybugs should count as the same pattern, but I'm not sure either they shouldn't.

Hiiii im here to ask about nhw Tide :D!

I saw with ur post about Tides powers and such that he had a dad moment during the leviathan fight when the pd arrived and started to help (dad coded Tide my beloved-). Which got me thinking of so many lil questions about his interactions with the pd and the others so here’s a couple of them :D!

Does Tide work with the pd much? I also remember u guys saying the the pd have trainers and such but is Tide their Mentor :O? I’m so curious about the fishy man :]

(I also only know worm stuff from y’all & a couple of others who are reading it and the urge to read it to understand what’s going on more is getting stronger-)

ANYWAY. tide's role is... not as official as it is in canon. he doesn't really have any official responsibility for the wards, he only really helps them out because he wants to. the way the wards program works in worm is that there is a checks and balances system where parahumans cannot be in charge of other parahumans. the prt (parahuman response team) is VERY paranoid about the idea of people with powers banding together to take over the world and treating unpowered people as... lesser? so every wards team has what's called a "handler" who either is or answers directly to the director, both of which are unpowered regular people. (roswell can probably explain this better than I can so if u are still confused I would go to them but I THINK this is the basics?)

the handlers have the authority to do things like set their patrol schedules and administer punishments for not following direct orders, stuff like that. they're basically like... the wards' shitty boss. tide to them is like that one older coworker that really wants you to succeed so he helps you out whenever he can but also he gets really busy sometimes because he's VERY good at his job and is needed elsewhere a lot. there's an INCREDIBLE character in worm named Hero (yeah.) who is. ouuavhgh I love Hero so much. he literally only exists in like one chapter toward the end of the book but. points at this man. that's Tide to the nhw::::

I made a point in my last post abt the elementals that the wards remind tide of shockwave, and I think thats a huge reason why he is initially soft on them, but i think as he worked with them and got to know them and things he realized like ohhhh i love these boys like they're my own kids and we live in such a horrible world where terrible things happen to capes every day and this system we work for is so corrupt I'm going to do everything in my power to make sure they get as much of a childhood out of it as they possibly can, they're so young (he only. partially succeeds at this. ofc horrible terrible traumatizingly bad stuff still happens. but it's important that he tried. there are so few adults in the world that want the best for them and by GOD tide is one of them)

Let a huge daddy long leg touch my hand today for 1 millisecond, I feel proud of myself hehehe

I'm hoping to hold a daddy long leg by the end of this year at least... getting closer to getting over my phobia... it comes from my ocd so its completley random and irrational, but im getting there slowly.. I'm happy with this progress.. two years ago, I couldn't even let a tiny spider touch me or anything I own without throwing away anything they touched and washing my hands till my skin came off so this is a huge step for me ❤️

Also completely over my fear of harvestmen spiders!!! Yay! I know they look similar to daddy long legs l, but my brain hyper focuses on the very specific shape of daddy long legs, I'm the most afraid of them because of my brain associating them with the worst times of my ocd I guess.

Be proud of me please...
