- she’s a demisexual/demiromantic lesbian. she kind of always thought that she’d “find the right dude” and her friends talking about guys would all make sense but that never happened for her

- she has a girlfriend who works with her in yearbook committee, whos also on the basketball team

- oh yeah, she’s on yearbook. it’s kind of why she started knowing everything about everybody and gossiping, because she hears a lot of shit at club meetings and everything 

- she is really, really good at memorizing words. she can learn the lyrics to a song like right off the bat, she’s got most of the movie’s she’s ever watched under her belt at this point. it’s kind of impressive. (however, she’s SHIT at acting. cannot replicate emotions for shit.)

- she sometimes thinks that if she stopped talking, no one would ever talk to her. but she also doesn’t really like talking, she just feels like she has to. 

- she considers rich her best friend. after the squipping, she goes to him and apologizes for the whole rich set a fire rumor thing, and they start actually talking like people. they have a very sibling-like relationship

- her favorite colors are actually blue and green, but brooke said she looked good in purple and she kind of leaned into it. 

- her dream is to make her own clothes and have people model them for her. she wants to ask her friends to wear the clothes she makes but doesn’t know how to ask them

- she has her belly button pierced. i don’t have elaborations on this one

- she ADORES rock music. she’s a total dad rock girlie. 

- she lives with just her dad, but her mom’s still in the picture. they don’t see each other often, mostly because of differences in schedules.

- she has a little brother that she babysits

- her favourite flavour is strawberry and she loves the pink drinks at starbucks. yes it’s cliche, yes she loves them. (they also make very nice photos which is a major plus)

Four Coastlines

This is just my list of headcanons for a specific group dynamic: Florida, Hawai'i, Alaska and California. According to a CRS report, these four have the largest coastline in the states if we do not include tidal inlets. All of this to say, I'm brainrotting hard for these four's dynamics :'))

All four of them are chaotic. Don't let the face and mascot Florida fool you, all of them have the capacity for some kind of total mayhem and Florida is kind of proud of it

They are comprised of 3 extroverts and 1 introvert. They do wild things but they make sure that Alaska is having some kind of fun in the meanwhile

One day, they have a beach day, coming to a secluded beach where nobody really goes. Alaska prefers to stay under the beach umbrella while the rest go out to sea. California is trying to teach Florida how to surf but how well Florida is retaining it is up for debate. Hawai'i has definitely buried Alaska in sand before they left tho

Conversely, Alaska has taken them out to the tundra wilderness. California is prepared for the cold and keeps up with Alaska just fine. Hawai'i at least has experienced some kind of cold from her mountains but is definitely unused to it. Same goes with Florida. The only reason Florida and Hawai'i can keep going is sheer spite really. That and California was taunting them so they had to keep going

Beach Buds

FL & HI

Snorkeling is one of Hawai'i's favourite pasttimes. She gets Florida to join in since he also free dives a lot and it's better to have a partner to spot you. They tend to see which one of them could stay underwater for the longest time. Hawai'i always wins that competition

They explore the coral reefs just off the coast of the Keys to see the sights and colours of a thriving ecosystem and the bleached death for those left to the wayside

There's one time where they dived down for a nearly an hour without resurfacing and without any oxygen tanks whatsoever. It kinda freaked California and Alaska out because they're pretty sure not a lot of people could stay down there for that long

Ice cream. They go out for ice cream if they're on a beach and will exchange their favourite ice cream flavours so they could see the other taste it and judge it. No, Florida does not pick out the wackiest flavours just so he could see her wince at the taste, wdym

Florida has taken her to see alligators. She loved holding the babies because they're so small and so dangerous and holy crap is that their mother—

Two Extremes

AK & FL

The only reason Alaska remembers him is because he is the designated "fun" one. It's difficult to not remember someone who constsntly blows everything up with a smile on their face.

They get along because Alaska is one of the few people he actively doesn't mess with. He knows Alaska can and will throw the first punch if annoyed; and though he would love to see Alaska break, he's not about to find out. Alaska kinda appreciates it

Another way Alaska keeps remembering Florida is the way Florida shoves food into his hands. Mostly, it's just tropical fruits like dragonfruit, mangos and pineapples. Interestingly enough, Florida has never given him oranges

In recompense, Alaska started to give Florida some of his blueberries and ligonberries simply because he's confused as to why Florida keeps aggressively handing him fruits every once in a while and feels the need to repay him in some fashion

Hawai'i keeps helping Florida in giving Alaska tropical food — and then asked if Alaska ever had spiced foods and then it just kinda went downhill

Catchin' Waves

CA & HI

Surfing buddies. Hawai'i will drag California out to the beach so she could use her boards more, dammit

California hasn't had this much fun competing with someone — Hawai'i provides a good challenge that is hard to keep up but damn him if he won't stop trying

If there's a memorable event, like California absolutely eating shit by falling off his board, Hawai'i will pop in a nearby souvenir store to grab something from the store and hand it over to California so "he wouldn't forget". Likewise, California hasn't forgotten how Hawai'is hair got stuck in one of the doors for a long while and gave her a door keychain

California is pretentious and Hawai'i is aggressive. With these two, there's no Karen that can ruin their day (should they ever try, they'll find themselves running away with tears streaming down their face while the two high five for a job well-done)

She's the one of the few states that can fully call him out on his bullshit if he starts acting up — harsh glares and threatening gestures from Texas, he could take. Just not from Hawai'i. Her slaps hurt dude

Upper 2

Hawai'i tends to show Alaska everything and anything she's doing via Snap, Insta, Discord, Facetime, anything. That kind of friendship where Hawai'i has video and microphone on at all times while Alaska has his vid closed with push-to-talk on. Sometimes he has video on for that spice

Alaska gifts her small wooden carvings of her favourite animals and flowers every month, just to "put his skills to good use". One time, he gifted her a wooden hawaiian hibiscus, her state flower, for her birthday. Painted it yellow and made sure it has enough detail to seem real. She constantly has it out on display in her home, making sure that Alaska sees it in every video call

Hawai'i has a list of Alaskan facts bouncing around in her mind, will correct anyone about anything from Alaska. That is her bestie don't even try

He has indirectly learn some Hawaiian words from Hawai'i herself. Considering how many native languages he has on his tongue, it just seemed natural for him to learn another native language... just not one from his region. Definitely uses it to surprise Hawai'i

Golden Midnight

California rambles. A lot. So much so that the only one who tolerates it (barely) is Alaska and that's normally because California barged into his room to "get away from idiots"

Alaska tried kicking him out but ugh he keeps coming back

California likes to teach others so he just tells Alaska what it's like to live in the Lower 48. From memes to social etiquette to Taylor Swift albums and if Jefferson should just be kicked out. At first, he wasn't sure if Alaska was listening or not but after Alaska prodded him about folklore, he was more than happy to find out someone does listen

Sure Alaska's just kinda listening to California bc it helps with understanding Hawai'i but it seems to make the beanie guy happy so who was he to say anything

Disney Siblings

Alaska can and will use memes and lingo wrong just so California can do that strained smile that is barely holding back all his frustrations. It's funny

Florida calls California "Calcal" because there's "Norcal and Socal and since you're California, Calcal." California has long since accepted the nickname. Florida won't stop using it

California keeps a whole slew of insults and comebacks up his sleeve all reserved for Florida. California... may or may not use Florida as a sort of training grounds for when he actually needs a deadly insult (Texas or Gov) he can actually use it with no remorse

They have movie nights together. All of impromptu and no planning. Florida just tends to be in the living room watching Lilo and Stitch before California, after spending the whole afternoon in his office, pops down and gets enthralled by the animation again and BAM movie night. They shares snacks but Florida keeps stealing the sweets so California hogs all the popcorn bowls

Potentially silly question regarding Grima: You've discussed before the idea of him loving to have pineapples around as a status symbol on account of them being something weird and exotic that no one else has, but if given the chance to not just have them kicking around for symbolic purposes and actually be served to him, do you think Grima would taste them, and if so, if he'd like it or not? And what other foods (fruit or otherwise) do you think might he consider a status symbol?

And Grima would love pineapple! it's so sweet, he'd be gung-ho for it. He would be that person who would receive one and then be grieved over whether or not he wished to put it on his table or eat it. Like receiving a work of art as a rug - do you hang it on the wall or put it on the floor and use it as it was meant to be used?

In this world with the anachronistic pineapple, I think initially Grima would never eat them. He would keep them until they weren't aesthetic anymore then they'd be fed to the goats or pigs or chickens.

However, once he had been in a decently powerful/wealthy position for long enough I think he'd take a pineapple and try and figure out how to eat it.

There would be a debate: can you eat a pineapple?

Eomer says no - they're prickly on the outside, sharp, pointy, clearly a sign they're poisonous and not to be eaten.

Grima says yes - there are prickly pointy sharp plants that are perfectly edible. It's a matter of knowing how to do it.

Eowyn has no opinion on the matter, but she holds that Grima should be the one who tries it first.

Theodred is just confused about why this matters. They have perfectly good, delightful food. There's no need to try and eat the table decorations.

Grima: but what if they taste good? Who knows. It could be fun for us.

Being a reasonably intelligent man, Grima makes his least favourite person eat a bit of the pineapple first then they all wait and see if he dies. When it's determined that he will live, Grima tries some and is like 'it's terrible. None of you should have any. I'll take care of it, don't worry.' And hoards the pineapple like the wee dragon wyrm he is.

Figuring out how to access the inner flesh of the fruit involved Grima carefully cutting small bits off then they were like 'ah, the outer layer isn't that thick so this is easy'. They were also all mightily pleased that there was no stone inside which means more pineapple to eat.

Figuring out how to propagate a pineapple would be a past-time Grima would undertake and if he managed to successfully figure it out he would be like, 'they are absolute freaks of a plant. I love them even more. Eomer, build me a greenhouse.'

Other status symbol foods for Grima?

Certain herbs and spices would be: cinnamon, vanilla, saffron, cardamom, lemongrass, sumac, caraway, nutmeg etc.

Citrus in general - I don't see Rohan doing orangeries or anything, that would be a Gondor-style invention. So all citrus is imported which makes it rare and expensive.

Grima trying to convince Eomer to build an orangerie is now my new favourite mental image.

Grima: we could have oranges in winter, my lord! just. think about it.

Eomer is like, 'you really took on the decadent living full force, didn't you?'

'I was born on a farm in the north, my lord. I grew up living off turnips and seasonal produce that can grow in cold climes and whatever we foraged. Not that we ever foraged or poached on the local lord's land. Never.'

Anachronistic tomatoes! Certain tree nuts would be strictly imports and so therefore a delicacy (e.g., almonds).

I don't know if Rohan did class based consumption (only royalty can eat certain meats etc.), but if they did - whatever was determined to be for nobility alone would be something he'd put great stock in now having access to.

Man, this guy's diet really improved when he joined the king's household.

Grima: I ate a lot of pottage. Bread soup. Meat but more so in the autumn when we slaughtered the animals that were right for it. Turnips. Carrots. Roots for days. Cabbage. Ruffage of that sort. Berries if they were in season. Apples, when they were in season. Fish from the river sometimes. Cheese. Most everything was salted, pickled or fermented.

Eomer: I see.

Grima: but now I can eat fruit whenever I want! also we have meat with every meal and it's fresh meat, too. Not to mention wine. Also food is spiced so fancy here. Look at this ginger. This would cost five of my father's sheep. I never new cardamom existed until I came to Edoras. You even colour your jellies random colours solely because it amuses you to have them coloured! Wild.

Eomer: you know, I get it.

Grima: and you have white flour! Wheat! It's not rye or barley - amazing. And white ale! ugh, the lap of luxury, my lord. I will never grow tired of it. Oh, and fancy tea that I've never had before arriving in Edoras.

Other things would be jellies and custards - anything that is time and labour intensive would be a status symbol. Figs, dates - dried fruits that had to be imported would cost a pretty penny and be for the wealthy alone. Not to mention grapes and olives. Peacock and other more fanciful poultry, of course. Like the feasts would be certainly something.

I sometimes imagine, like, twenty-two year old Grima arriving in Edoras and getting absorbed into the king's household because he's one of the few fully literate people in the city and seeing a royal feast up close for the first time.

Mind blowing.

Grima: how do I eat this?

Theoden: it's an orange. Have you never had an orange before?

Grima is like, Do you think I've had an orange before?

Things to also consider is if there were any social constraints to when you ate certain food - such as religious festivals. Was fasting during a certain period part of Rohan's culture? Were there restrictions or taboos around grouping certain foods together? Did those restrictions apply to everyone equally or only certain groups? Was there a gendered aspect to food consumption and access?

E.g., in early medieval Scandinavia (think vikings), boys were favoured and so in lean/starvation times they were given the good food and the daughters were not. We can see in skeletal remains that within the same generation women were more likely to have suffered a starvation level of hunger at a greater percentage to men.

So, like, in Rohan if there was a lean time during his childhood was Grima fed more in comparison to his sister(s)? How does that impact someone's relationship to family? to food? etc.

Also what was the meal structure like? Did they do two meals, as was common through much of the medieval era in Europe (broad brush stroke, of course, regional variations existed and things shifted over time. E.g., Venice did dinner and supper but there was a secret, third meal between the two that was like a sort-of tea/snack break)? I suspect at a minimum it was three in Rohan since we know Gandalf et al arrived in Meduseld in the morning and Grima makes reference to Theoden's meat (i.e., his meal) being at the board. So, likely breakfast of some variation.

However, Theoden was old and infirm and that might mean he was eating different meals than he would be otherwise. How illness and age are treated in terms of food consumption is another impact to what you eat and when. (Allen Grieco was a historian who wrote a good amount about this - granted he was more in the early modern period, but his writing on food in early modern/renaissance Italy is super fascinating. Recommend Food, Social Politics and the Order of Nature in Renaissance Italy as a good starting point.)

(granted, anything from Harvard Press' "Villa I Tatti" series is worth reading if you're into the early modern and renaissance period.)

okay so fun fact but i am like the world's pickiest eater. i love pizza but i generally go for a simple margherita because that one's guaranteed not to have anything on it i don't like lol. my main rule for pizza is that it must have a lot of cheese and not too much else, and then it's like my favourite food ever!!

i like pepperoni - i had this vegan pepperoni pizza the other day that was amazing - or chicken on mine, but i try not to eat meat too often, so i don't get that often at all. i like pesto or spinach on it, sweet corn is pretty good indeed! i don't mind peppers, never tried broccoli on pizza but that sounds like it would be good! any kind of onions or mushrooms or whatever is very much not for me though lol

as for pineapple, i think it's a perfectly acceptable pizza topping that i will personally never get because i don't like pineapple lmao. i fully support team pineapple, as long as they don't try to make me eat it! i think the debates about it are really funny though ngl

I love them. Dragonflies are especially my favourite, along with praying mantises, bees and ladybugs.

🐞 What is something that doesn’t scare you but scares others?

I can't think of a general thing that most people are scared of, but maybe heights? Only saying this since I know my boyfriend is terrible with heights and I can handle them a normal amount haha.

🌙 What is your religion?

I don't follow any religion, so I'm an atheist, although I do refer to the universe as being a higher power of sorts, so I'm agnostic I guess? I was also raised catholic so sometimes I have catholic norms ingrained into me. That being said, other religions are cool as hell. I especially like buddhism and judaism but I'm not sure if I'd ever follow either.

🍄 What are some of your favourite local floral and fauna?

I live in Australia so we have a really unique range of flora and fauna. I'm a fan of all plants, but I'm especially fond of gumtrees. I went to the zoo recently and saw dingo's for pretty much the first ever time, and they're basically just dogs!! I loved them so much, they're soo cute and goodboy looking😭 so dingo's especially, koala's, platypuses, kangaroos, and our birds here are beautiful as well. Kookaburra's (!!), cockatoos, rosella's, rainbow lorrikeets <33 I also love snakes and lizards.

Hmm I'm struggling to think of something. Well I don't know if it's unpopular but it's certainly debated upon. I like pineapple on pizza, I think it's so good bc you get to have a juicy and fresh bite to the pizza. I've always liked it.

Ahh I can answer anything to this?? I've talked so much on this blog about things I loved from my childhood so I gotta be original. I haven't mentioned this one show in a while, but I really loved the anime Deltora Quest as a kid. Only I didn't know it was an anime and just thought it was a cartoon. I used to keep up with it every Wednesday after school. It was super weird to me to find out that the show was adapted from an Australian kid's book, but it's also really cool. I still need to rewatch the whole show someday :')

•He likes seafood like lobster and crab. He had crab made in an air fryer last night. He like peas. He thinks quesadillas are good and likes most food.

•The Dream Shorts team is Ken who is his personal reminder (Ken's main job is to spam him with texts so he doesn't forget things as he's got a habit of reading texts and not replying) and also comes up with a list of sets for Dream shorts. The builder is a friend and munchymc builder "his talent gets wasted on Dream's shorts but we pay him so"

•His editors are currently Dizzy, Firesale and Mjcr. Willz doesn't edit for him anymore

•The mask animation isn't done but Mask should be released May 21st. He wants to release them together as "the whole song is a double meaning and the whole nuance will be lost without the animation" but no matter if the animation is done the song is getting released on the 21st.

•He and Sapnap eat together often.

•He wants a home gym it's something he's willing to splurge on. They currently have a weight rack but they haven't even set it up.

•Talked about money basically saying "Most people don't understand how money works I don't have millions in my bank account it's in assets like merch, land and warehousing for that stuff" (He's not in his landlord arc)

•He's been debating Pride Merch because of Rainbow Capitalism. He doesn't want it too be seen as a money maker and if he does most proceeds would go to charity. He's currently super busy merch wise with Sapnap joining and George in the middle of joining. He did say "Only if the LGBTQ+ community in this community wants it" He thinks he's going to at least change the merch website to a pride one. Sapnap wants to make pride merch including a rainbow flame on his.

•He wants to create a charity that's centered around helping LGBTQ+ one day because he thinks that there's a lack of them. He mentioned that creating a charity was expensive and took a lot and was a complicated process including a board of directors but he wants to do it someday.

•He wanted to buy a bunch of houses in Florida which was a service to house mostly LGBTQ+ youth and people stuck in abusive households for free to get them out of bad home environments. But he didn't because he didn't want people thinking he was profiting of of abuse victims and LGBTQ+ community.

•He said he's terrible with time management and replying to people which is why Ken helps him (and also helps George and Sapnap). He mentioned how Sam messaged multiple times and Dream just forgot to answer but felt bad "I feel like people think I hate them..... Cause I'd be mad if people did that to me"

•He tries to reply to a few texts a day (community number). He also can't do birthday messages everyday because you can only reply at certain times so it's not abusing the system so if you get one it's special. He said he does try but it's got a weird time gap.

•Him and the manhunt winner are trying to come up with a good time to film

•He wants to stream this MCC on twitch and says his team is good.

•He talks about why he's not partnered with Twitch. Basically Twitch has a lock rate (in which you make money) and you legally can't stream on YouTube. So legally if Tommy wanted to stream on YouTube he couldn't. Someone then mentioned how Bad is a twitch partner but still streams on YouTube "Bad streams on YouTube but he has for a while and I don't think that he cares" - Dream

•He likes to reply to every donation he gets on stream and feels bad when he doesn't so he'll turn them off when he streams and wants a platform deal where he can be payed to stream (not twitch). If he gets a streaming partnership he will stream a couple of times a week. He looked in to Facebook but they don't have an alias system meaning you can see everyone's actual Facebook account and personal info, he doesn't like seeing real names on Facebook so it would require a lot of altering if he was to stream there so he's thinking it's probably going to be YouTube.

•He was asked about if his demographic was what he expected and he said he went in with no expectations, he didn't even know what stans were, wasn't really on social media so he wasn't aware of the fan culture. "You guys are a handful sometimes but it's worth it"

•He also mentioned how he and the DreamSMP changed the twitch audience demographic. It used to be male dominated in both streamers and audience and now it's almost split which is unheard on.

•He has 5 fidget spinners in his house. Two in his bedroom. Two in his office. One in the living room.

•He likes his Minecraft skin as he thinks the arm is cook and you never see the rest of his skin really. He says it's unique and different and "me". Dream: You can't even tell half the skins apart on MC.

•He's not lost the motivation to stream. Most of the times if he wants to stream he gets George or Sapnap to do it and he just turns up. It's more beneficial to them as they have donos and subs on. (Don't we fucking know it "can you say hi to")

•He has listened to Lovejoy. Says the ep was great and they're very talented and awesome. Doesn't know what his favourite song is but probably would pick One Day because the chorus slaps.

•RIP to acoustic Roadtrip. He said instead of acoustic Roadtrip we get Mask so no losses today for Dream stans.

•"With Roadtrip I went to Parker and I said Hey I have a story I want to tell through music. I have no experience with that can you help me" He said sure. He crafted the music and melodies and how things are formed where it's catchy. I have less comfort singing that. I love the song and it's my song, it's very representative of me and I'm sure I could sing it but it's a song I'd be kinds of scared to sing live, with Mask I basically did everything. I sat there the entire time and maybe an hour out if the 100 I wasn't in the call. Dream came up with the lyrics and main melody for Mask (First one he's ever come up with) "That was just notes in my fucking voice memos"

•The clip we heard of Mask was a prechorus not the actual chorus. He thinks he'd be more comfortable to do a mask acoustic and it's more melodic than Roadtrip. The chorus also has a lot of instruments similar to Roadtrip. Mask starts of slow and guitar with minimal reverb and is more raw.

• He doesn't want music to be his main thing. It's something fun to do and he's passionate about it as it's a way to express emotions. He wants to release mask then go from there. He wants to release at least one more song but has nothing on his mind currently. His two ideas were Roadtrip and Mask.

•He wouldn't quit his job to become a pizza delivery man.

•His favourite features on himself are eyes or freckles and he also confirmed that he does have eyebrows.

•He was told that Parkour warrior would be bought back some time in the near future and he got excited for it. "Even if I don't win, which I will, it'll be fun"

•Went on about his MCC team but I'm not going to put that in as we should be getting them today. He did say he wasn't on Pink but he did sound confused. (For reference he's always in Pink as it's the last team announced and keeps the hype up by announcing the biggest streamer last)

•Said he and his mum had the Mr Beast burger. He recommends because he likes the avacado. He mentioned how Mr Beast uses "Ghost Kitchens" which is basically where he gives restaurants permission to cook his food so it's restaurant quality food.

•His favourite piece of merch is the circle smile. (The pool photo on Instagram). He said the quality was bad (he worked with a different company and didn't have his own company) and it was elasticy feeling and he's planning on re-releasing it again but with good quality.

•He's started to send merch out in custom packaging. So his bags have the smile and will mostly be green. Sapnap's has the flame and is either black or white. He's also trying to make it so every order has the sticker packs for both him and Sapnap.

•He loves the coins as it's cheaper than a hoodie but still celebrates the milestones and will last a long time. He mentioned how the old coins are getting removed off the site and how if you have any of the coins your special because only a few thousand get made. He's kept around 100 of each coin that he wants to give away in person.

•He wanted to have a cool store where you could access computers that give you access to the DreamSMP in spectator mode. But it's too costly and would require too much time and isn't safe fight now. He doesn't think it'd be worth it financially.

•Most of the hoodie are black instead of multiple colours because of limited supply and covid. Getting the colours are harder because if the pandemic which hopefully won't be an issue soon.

•He wants to do a short meetup tour with Sapnap and George with a few locations in the US (and if others nearby want to join like Quackity or Karl they can). He also wants to visit Australia, UK, Canada, Mexico and Philippines and do something like that there but definitely at least visit with George and Sapnap.

•He's never been to the Philippines but his mum has. He wants to set up a place in the Philippines where he can ship merch in bulk and it would help to reduce shipping. However it would probably be big milestone merch.

•He's not got the vaccine yet but will get it when he needs to. He doesn't leave the house so he doesn't see the point.

•He's the ideas man. George's footcam video was Dream's idea. The T-shirt video was Dream's idea. Most if not all of the Dream Team's videos are Dream's ideas.

Jiang Cheng is nervous as hell. He knows he studied enough for this last exam—maybe even more than for his business exam—but this is where his heart lies. This is what he really wants and if he fails this exam and doesn’t get his degree then he’ll be devastated.

He did nothing but study for this for the past two weeks—ever since he got his business degree out of the way, so his parents can’t say anything about it—and logically he knows he did all he could, but that doesn’t stop him from worrying.

Jiang Cheng arrived a little bit early for the exam, so he still has time to kill and he pulls out his phone. He kind of ghosted Nie Mingjue for the last few days, because he wanted to concentrate on his studies and Nie Mingjue has been surprisingly understanding about this, but right now he needs to text him.

‘About to go in’Jiang Cheng writes out and it’s not even a minute before he gets a reply.

‘I know you can do it, but good luck anyway! I’ll see you tomorrow. I love you’ is the reply he gets and Jiang Cheng smiles down at his phone.

‘I love you, too’he sends back before he pockets his phone again.

He and Nie Mingjue have been going strong for years at this point, but it’s still a little bit unreal whenever Nie Mingjue tells him he loves him.

Even after all these years Jiang Cheng can hardly believe that he got this lucky. He’s not even sure he wants to get used to that feeling, if he’s being honest.

Jiang Cheng tries to cling to that feeling instead of giving in to his nervousness and soon enough it’s time for him to go in.

The exam itself is a whole blur and it’s only when Jiang Cheng leaves the room that he can breathe easy again.

He’s pretty sure he didn’t ace it—there were one or two questions that tripped him up—but he’s reasonably sure that he also didn’t fail it and that’s really all that matters.

As long as he gets the degree he is happy with everything. He doesn’t need to have the best marks, he will leave those expectations to his business degree and his mother.

Jiang Cheng is still debating how he’s going to celebrate the end of his exams on his own while he’s on the way home and he finds that he doesn’t really want to do anything.

He wants to celebrate it with Nie Mingjue but they are only going to see each other the next day and Jiang Cheng figures that a relaxing day with a new TV show might be a good time as well.

There’s no need to do anything fancy after all.

He is just debating if he should get pizza delivered or not when he opens the door to his apartment, only to find that it’s already unlocked.

Jiang Cheng frowns because he’s absolutely certain that he locked it twice like he always does when he leaves but then Nie Mingjue’s voice reaches him.

“Welcome home!” he yells through the apartment, moments before his head pokes around a corner.

“What are you doing here?” Jiang Cheng asks, but he can’t help the smile on his face. “I thought we were on for tomorrow?”

“We still are,” Nie Mingjue says with a shrug as he comes up to Jiang Cheng to pull him into a kiss. “But I wanted to celebrate with you today,” he says when they part and Jiang Cheng beams up at him.

“I love you,” Jiang Cheng tells him and is rewarded with a kiss for it.

“Love you, too. How did it go?”

“It was okay,” Jiang Cheng says with a shrug as he toes off his shoes. “I’m pretty sure I didn’t ace it, but I think I passed.”

“Of course you did,” Nie Mingjue gives back as if he never expected anything else and Jiang Cheng is so happy to have the exam behind him and to have Nie Mingjue here with him that he steps forward and slings his arms around Nie Mingjue’s middle.

“I’m so proud of you,” Nie Mingjue lowly tells him and presses a kiss to Jiang Cheng’s head, bringing his arms up around him to hug him.

“I don’t even have a grade yet,” Jiang Cheng grumbles but he also doesn’t let go of Nie Mingjue.

“Doesn’t matter,” he easily gives back. “I’m always proud of you.”

“Stop it,” Jiang Cheng whines but he can’t deny how happy he is, here with Nie Mingjue.

“Never,” Nie Mingjue chuckles and then he simply continues to hold Jiang Cheng for a long time before he speaks up again. “So, what did you have planned for today?”

“Mh, nothing, really,” Jiang Cheng mumbles, his face still pressed to Nie Mingjue’s chest. “Thought about ordering in and relaxing.”

“Alright,” Nie Mingjue nods. “That’s what we’ll do then.”

“Did you have anything planned?” Jiang Cheng asks in return but Nie Mingjue is already pushing him away, so that he can get the phone.

Jiang Cheng sighs, because he’s pretty sure that Nie Mingjue has some plans for tomorrow and he hopes that he didn’t ruin it for him, but since Nie Mingjue is not outright saying anything Jiang Cheng trusts that it will be okay.

“Go sit, I have it handled,” Nie Mingjue calls over from the kitchen, and Jiang Cheng smiles when he realizes that he’s getting the flyer of their favourite restaurant.

As if Jiang Cheng needs that to know what he wants to order.

“You know where, right?” Jiang Cheng calls after him, despite knowing that this is like Nie Mingjue’s home.

“What do you take me for,” he predictably yells back and Jiang Cheng laughs.

Gods, he can’t wait for them to move in together. Now that he’s almost done with his degrees that day is getting closer and closer. Jiang Cheng’s pride wouldn’t allow him to move in with Nie Mingjue before he could pay his half of the rent, but once he has his degrees it will be different. Jiang Cheng already looked at some job offerings and he’s reasonably sure that he’ll get something soon enough.

And then they can finally start their life together for real.

“Your exam is over, what the hell are you thinking so hard for?” Nie Mingjue teasingly asks and flicks Jiang Cheng’s forehead.

“Nothing,” Jiang Cheng gives back and lets himself fall face first into the couch, body going completely boneless as he relaxes.

“Liar, liar, pants on fire,” Nie Mingjue grumbles and Jiang Cheng chuckles.

“You just want me to take them off,” he gives back and he knows exactly what kind of face Nie Mingjue makes even without looking when there’s a brief pause.

“I wouldn’t be opposed,” Nie Mingjue eventually says and Jiang Cheng turns his head just far enough to peek up at him.

“Later, maybe,” he says, though he knows that it will be a definitely.

He hasn’t seen Nie Mingjue in a few days and Jiang Cheng has needs after all.

“Food first,” Nie Mingjue decides. “What do you want?”

“You know what I want,” Jiang Cheng says and does his best not to laugh out loud when Nie Mingjue makes the most disgusted face Jiang Cheng has ever seen.

"I love you so much and I would do anything for you, but if you ever ask me to tell them to put pineapples on the pizza ever again we’re fucking done,” he tells him and now Jiang Cheng can’t hold on any longer.

He laughs and then he laughs some more when Nie Mingjue fake glares at him and it feels so good to be as relaxed as this for a change.

With exams and stuff Jiang Cheng didn’t have a chance to laugh like this for too long now.

“Aww, but my soul, don’t I deserve a treat after my exams?” Jiang Cheng tries as he does his best to pout at Nie Mingjue.

“What you’re asking for is a punishment,” Nie Mingjue grumbles but he also leans over to press a kiss to Jiang Cheng’s head and so Jiang Cheng knows he has won.

Nie Mingjue quickly places their order and when he’s done with that, he climbs over the back of the couch and falls down on top of Jiang Cheng, knocking the breath right out of him.

“Uff,” Jiang Cheng wheezes. “What’s that for?”

“Making me order that abomination,” Nie Mingjue says as he arranges Jiang Cheng to his liking, mainly meaning that he slides off Jiang Cheng so he can hug him close.

“Aww, but you did it for me anyway,” Jiang Cheng says and smiles at Nie Mingjue. “I have the bestest boyfriend in the world.”

“Yeah, I hear he’s decent,” Nie Mingjue gives back with a serious nod, making Jiang Cheng frown.

“Hey, you’re not allowed to slander my boyfriend in my own home,” he tells Nie Mingjue with a light slap to his shoulder and then Jiang Cheng stills when he sees a suspicious glint in Nie Mingjue’s eyes.

“What about slandering your fiancé instead?” Nie Mingjue lowly asks as he pulls out a small black box.

“Mingjue,” Jiang Cheng breathes out because what the hell is even happening.

They are not even living together yet!

“Wanyin,” Nie Mingjue gives back, just as serious as before. “Will you marry me and make me the happiest man alive?”

“You mean you aren’t happy now?” Jiang Cheng blurts out because of course he does.

He’s stupid and caught off guard and so happy he can’t even think straight.

“I’m decently happy, I’d say,” Nie Mingjue gives back with a teasing smile and Jiang Cheng buries his face in Nie Mingjue’s neck. “What do you say, my heart?”

“We’re not even living together! We’re doing this all out of order!”

“If we were doing this all out of order I would have presented you with adoption papers,” Nie Mingjue patiently gives back and Jiang Cheng jerks back, narrowing his eyes at Nie Mingjue.

“No, not yet,” Nie Mingjue says, clearly reading the question in Jiang Cheng’s eyes. “But yes. Kids will happen eventually, too. You said often enough that you want at least one.”

“But you were always on the fence about that.”

“Yeah, but then I realized that I want to have it all with you,” Nie Mingjue casually gives back. “But that really comes after living together and being married for at least a year.”

“Mingjue,” Jiang Cheng breathes out because he feels like he could burst with happiness and love for this man.

“The living arrangement is just a technicality. It’s a given we’ll move in as soon as you sign your first employment contract, right? So I thought why not plan ahead a little bit with this.”

“Fuck, I love you so much,” Jiang Cheng breathes out and then pulls Nie Mingjue in for a long and thorough kiss.

“That’s nice and all, but you still didn’t answer me,” Nie Mingjue says when they part and Jiang Cheng rolls his eyes.

“Yes. Of course it’s yes. As if it could ever be anything else! Now give that ring here!”

“Good, because you had me worried there for a second,” Nie Mingjue teases him because of course there was nothing to worry about in the first place and they both know it.

Jiang Cheng’s heart does a funny little thing in his chest when Nie Mingjue slides the ring on his finger and Jiang Cheng never saw himself as the jewellery-wearing type, but he already knows that he’s never, ever going to take that ring back off again.

“I love you, my beautiful, wonderful, brilliant fiancé,” Nie Mingjue whispers as he peppers Jiang Cheng’s face with kisses.

“Stop it,” he complains, but it’s only half-hearted at best.

“Never,” Nie Mingjue promises and then simply continues with his mission until the doorbell goes off.

“That’s our food,” Jiang Cheng mutters when Nie Mingjue doesn’t get moving immediately and Nie Mingjue huffs out a sigh.

“And I already take second place,” he grumbles but he does get up to get their food and Jiang Cheng stares after him, hardly believing what just happened and when Nie Mingjue moves out of sight, Jiang Cheng turns his gaze towards his new ring.

It’s the most beautiful thing Jiang Cheng has ever seen.

He only tears his eyes away from it when Nie Mingjue comes back, their pizzas balanced on one hand, because if he’s being honest, Nie Mingjue is the most beautiful thing he has ever seen.

When Nie Mingjue leans down to put their food on the table Jiang Cheng darts in for a quick kiss but when Nie Mingjue tries to deepen it, he pulls away.

“I’m not eating cold pizza, again,” he decisively says and opens his carton to get right in while the pizza is still nice and hot. He did learn his lesson the last time after all.

“I want a divorce,” Nie Mingjue says, his voice absolutely deadpan and his face disgusted when he sees a piece of pineapple slide off Jiang Cheng’s slice but Jiang Cheng only smiles sweetly at him.

“Too late. There’s no getting rid of me or my disgusting pizza taste ever again,” he happily says and Nie Mingjue’s face immediately softens.

“Fine, I guess,” he still heaves out as if it’s the worst thing in the world but when Jiang Cheng leans in for a kiss, Nie Mingjue pushes him away with a hand to his face.

“I have to draw the line somewhere,” Nie Mingjue tells him and Jiang Cheng bursts out laughing again.

He hasn’t been this happy in a long while and he’s looking forward to being happy like this every day of his life now.

Do you take lessons for anything? No. I’ve done so in the past, but not at the moment.

Has something really heavy ever fallen on you?  Other than siblings or cousins from when we played together as kids, I don’t think so.

If you wear makeup, what colors do you usually wear?  I never wear makeup but whenever my friends have used my face as a practice stage (lol) they’ve usually just used natural or nude-ish colors, which I find look okay on me.

Does your shower have curtains or a glass door/wall? It has a sliding door. I’m not sure what material it’s made out of, but I can tell you it’s at least not glass.

If you have more than one pet, do they ever get jealous of each other?  Cooper does tend to bark and/or whine when he sees me giving more attention to Kimi, but not always. Kimi couldn’t give less of a crap, but this is also because he is 13.

Is there a room in your house that you don’t like going in? I used to not like being inside my bedroom, especially after the breakup. For a long time it was a place I only associated with crying and breakdowns, so when I was doing the arduous task of starting over I haaaaated staying there because it only hurled me right back to square one. But I’m happy to say that I eventually got better, had enough strength to change the narrative for my room, and now I like being here again :)

Besides salt and butter, do you put anything on your popcorn?  Not a big fan of popcorn but if I had to pick a topping, I’d go with cheddar cheese.

Are you lonely?  I’ll feel it sometimes, but it only lasts for a moment or so.

What’s your favorite magazine to read?  Wow I haven’t read a magazine in years.

Do you like pineapple?  I hate it. In all forms. The pizza debate doesn’t even matter to me lmao, I just think pineapple downright sucks.

Have you ever seen fireflies? They used to be common in our village when we first moved in, back when there were only like 3 houses in the neighborhood (we were one of the first to move in here). As more houses were built and the place got more occupied the fireflies gradually lessened until they disappeared altogether.

Have you ever trespassed?  I very vividly remember taking multiple trips to the school cemetery back in grade school (I went to Catholic school and ours had a cemetery below our chapel, where all our deceased nuns were housed...I really shouldn’t be talking about this at 10 PM...). I am 100% sure that was an off-limits area but we went there anyway because we were a naughty group of kids and because no one was guarding the area.

Do you tell your parents where you are going? Yeah; if I live with them, they have the right to know. < Ooh, I’ve never even thought about it this way before but this is a very good point. I’ll second this, haha.

Do you agree with the notion that all people were created equal? Yes.

Do you raise your hand or participate in class? God never. I hid as much as I can and only recited if I was called on purpose.

Do you like visiting the mall? Why or why not?  I like the malls that we have. But then again, malls are the only decent public spaces we have - we don’t have public libraries, parks, playgrounds, etc. – so it’s not like I have a choice on where I can go if I want to go out. 

Have you ever purposely hurt an animal?  Yeah I kill bugs when I see them. Soz, I have no feelings for them whatsoever.

Would you ever see a therapist?  I planned to finally do this last year but it just fell through haha and eventually I was able to care for myself too. Now that I’m doing a lot better for the most part, I feel like I’d have no clue what to talk about once faced with one.

Are you afraid of heights?  Only if I had to jump all the way down. But if I ever found myself staying at an extreme height simply to enjoy the view, or if I was ever in one of those towers where the top floor’s floor is made out of glass, I think I would enjoy that.

Are you afraid of the dark?  I always say I’m usually not afraid of the dark, and will only be if I was in a situation that was intended to scare me. I would definitely be afraid of the dark if I was in like an abandoned cave or a haunted house, but I would also find the darkness in my room comforting.

Are you a jealous person?  When I am it’s mostly been in a playful sense and rarely serious.

When is your birthday? April 21st.

What are you listening to right now? My very very old aircon doing its very very loud whirring thing. It’s become a running joke in the family because it is literally SO FUCKING LOUD hahahaha Have you ever been caught doing something you weren’t supposed to be doing?  As a goody-goody, I can only ever do this to my mom; but yeah, she’s caught me many times.

Are you still friends with someone from kindergarten?  Sure, but I’m not ~close friends with any of them. Just chummy enough to like their photos on social media once in a while or greet them happy birthday. My oldest friend was from Grade 1.

What is the most important thing to you?  Being happy with myself and making sure I don’t miss out on life and opportunities.

About what?  You know, I’ve always thought going to the doctor was no sweat until I realized just how nervous I was when I had to book a telemedicine consultation once as part of my job (PR can make you do the most random, out of context things sometimes, I swear haha). I surprised even myself with the reaction I had when I found out I had to do it, and how I felt like declining the offer...I guess I was scared about the possibility of underlying health issues suddenly being unearthed. Your whole life can always get turned upside down in the blink of an eye with just one diagnosis.

Have you ever been to the rainforest?  I’m pretty sure the climate I live in is called tropical rainforest, so I guess yeah.

Have you ever created a website?  Not from scratch. I had always made it under an umbrella website, like Blogspot.

Ever thought about writing a book?  Sure, as a kid.

Have you ever had a dream where you killed someone?  No. Whenever I have dreams of that nature it’s always me or a loved one being killed, but never me doing the killing.

Do you think your last relationship was a disaster?  The way it ended was, but it wouldn’t be fair to myself to invalidate the genuine happiness I felt when I was in it.

Which, in retrospect, is an acceptable consequence for my actions, but we’re also talking about a time when schools were starting to view the internet as a necessity in doing homework and research. I missed out on nearly all my homework for a while, and my mom didn’t buy it when I kept telling her I needed to do my research over the internet. At the same time, she kept demanding why my grades weren’t doing so well when she was the reason they kept being pulled down...so yep, not a very fun time.

Have you seen all of the Jaws movies?  No and I don’t really have the desire to. Doesn’t seem like my kind of movie.

When was the last time you played cards? (not on the computer)  Maybe 2 or 3 years ago.

Have you ever drank Cherry Coke? No, I don’t drink any soda.

Did you ever take a cooking class in school?  Yeah, but we were required to take it. We also had some baking sessions, which to me was a lot more fun. I remember having to make macarons and rainbow cake which are both right up my alley, heehee.

Do you use Skype?  I’ve never used Skype on my own. That’s where I used to talk to my dad for video calls maybe around a decade ago, whenever he was abroad; but I never had my own account. These days I alternate among Microsoft Teams, Google  Meet, or Zoom.

Have you ever participated in local magazine cover girl searches?  I don’t think so, but I did join a few contests on some of those kid’s magazines we used to have...none of which I won.

Is your ex sexually attractive to you still?  I haven’t seen her in 5 months, which helps...that said, I simply feel nothing. I’m neither sexually attracted nor not sexually attracted to her.

Describe the most romantic moment you’ve ever had.  I can think of one but I don’t see the point in still raising it, considering where I am in life right now.

Have you ever cheated on a test?  Yes, once. I hated it.

Have you ever been to couple’s counseling? Nope.

How often does your employer ask you to work overtime?  A few times a week. Sometimes I’ll do it willingly as well just to get the task over with or to save myself some deliverables the next morning. I’m fine with OT-ing tbh; since I work from home, I feel like my time is a lot more flexible.

Did you often read for fun when you were a kid? I read A LOOOOOT as a kid. I was a total bookworm. < Yeah, same. You could always find me bringing a book to school and reading during breaks, even though they technically didn’t allow us to bring any non-academic book. My spark for reading died when I was around 12, same time as when my depression started to kick in, and it never really came back.

When was the last time you were scared?  Someone from the media called me up yesterday VIA LANDLINE to ask a question about a press release I had sent out that day. I usually read up on the materials we have, but I honestly didn’t give a shit about that particular story and didn’t really make an effort to know more about it, so I found myself stumped when he dropped the question. I ended up stalling for a bit before I was able to stutter an answer, so that was scary, but at least he was nice. Also, I hate phone calls.

Some of my fave words are Irish slang/Hiberno-English like: feck (softer version of the other F word), gobshite (someone who talks shite/who you don’t wanna listen to), eejit (an idiot), cat (crap), hames (a mess), craic (fun, a good time, banter — not to be confused with crack cocaine).

Others are actual Irish words like bó (bow — cow. like you think cows can’t get any cuter and then the Irish language comes along and gives them that name), grá (graw — love), púca (pooh-ka — ghost/spirit, also a specific mythological creature) leabhar (lau-wer — book), ispíní (ish-pee-nee — sausages), saoirse (sayer-sha or seer-sha — freedom), abhainn (ow-wann — river), oíche (eeha — night).

Kombucha: What do you order on a pizza? Generally I’m a plain Jane and will get a margarita with pepperoni and herbs. The odd time if I’m in the mood I’ll get (uh oh time to start a war) ham and pineapple bye

Alright wasn’t planning on crying while answering tumblr asks but I did and this ended up long so I pushed it to the end. Blueberry-Muffin tea: Tell me a memory, which makes you smile. When I had moved to NYC, on my way to my first apartment, my taxi driver was from Venezuela. He asked me about where I was from (he said my accent was clearer than most his New Yorker passengers because I said “twenty” with a hard t as opposed to “twenny” lol) and told me about his home. When I said I was from Ireland he told me that his daughter studied for a year in Dublin and loved it. We spoke a little bit about the fears of moving country, the strange torn feeling about wanting better but also missing everything you’ve ever known and loved, and about how NYC is the type of city that will chew you up and spit you out — but in a weird way you end up feeling extra proud of yourself for surviving there. When he dropped me off he waited until my new roommates came down to give me my key and he wished me the best of luck on my “American dream.” I know the idea of that dream is definitely debatable (if not destroyed) in many ways to a lot people but I understood exactly what he meant in that moment and it meant the world to me as a scared girl in her early 20s who’d never lived away from home, especially as it came from someone who’d been there over 20 years and still had their accent. And moments like this were repeated over and over again during my time in NY — those who helped me/made me feel most at home in America were those who weren’t from there themselves. I still think about him a lot and I really hope he and his family have been okay throughout the pandemic 💞

Only 4 elements can enter the multiverse: Slime (The Lich & Jevin), Redstone (Tango or Mumbo?), Ice (Stress), and Dirt (Grian, much to his dismay). Only the elementals can see the book. Grian's the protagonist with his sidekick Scar. He originally started collecting the belts because they were shiny but eventually decided to read the book and find out what they were for when Scar said he didn't see it. Doc, False, and Iskall are major obstacles because they don't believe the book exists.</p>

Xisuma - Making barriers, teleporting, and transforming into different mobs. Scar - Making mutant plants & boosting other hermits' attack & health. (-@datsaltyperson.)

-Demon AU :: Something enters the overworld and turns into a supernatural style-demon through Dimentional Distortion. Who gets posessed first, who goes crazy, and who actually kills it? Honestly I think that, if anything, Tango would know how to gank it, for obvious reasons. (-@fireflower-dusk.)

-High Street AU :: Everyone owns a different shop on the same street or some run a shop together (-@violets-arepurple.)

-Cat AU :: Either they're were always cats, or Hels turned everyone, including himself, into a cat, and they have to survive and overcome challenges in the Season 7 world. An example of a challenge would be Cub's a Sand Cat(the cats that always look like kittens no matter how old they are and live in deserts), and everyone's not sure if he can actually swim, so they have to find a way for him to get around without involving water. -How about a secret AU.. Every hermit has their big secrets and when Grian joined. He doesn't really know anything about those secrets even till season 7. Not many hermits talked to him in S6 anyway.. Mumbo was the closest to him so they would have regular chats For Iskall is mostly business related things Grian wants to know why so he set out on a quest to force the others to at least talk to him so he wouldn't be lonely. Sagitarius Rising: The first impressions of a Sagittarius Rising is cheeful and optimistic. Some Batwoman stans on twitter are saying that Avalance doesn't get enough development, that they are sidelined and that their relationship is only shown for comedic purposes. Thoughts please?

So, I mean. First of all. If the Batwoman stans on twitter are bothering you, I encourage you to take steps to aggressively curate your Twitter experience so that it provides you with a relaxing and nourishing slice of fandom to enjoy. The line between “fun activity” and “app of howling nightmares” with Twitter is razor thin and requires active effort. If you are still using the official Twitter app for your phone, consider using a third-party app that gives you some extra features and control - my favourite is Twitterriffic, which allows me the delicious luxury of all my posts in chronological order like it’s still 2010.

Secondly, that’s okay. They’re allowed to say whatever they want on Twitter, and neither of us has to care. I think now that we have a large diversity of wlw ships available to us in fandom, we have to stop thinking of queer relationships as something we have to consume as like. Admission requirements to participate in femslash fandom. I think now, femslash ships are a lot more like pizza.

So, for instance. I really love Avalance! They’re providing all the things that I enjoy in my television girlkissing, and Legends of Tomorrow is exactly my kind of pizza! It’s got all my favourite toppings (pepperoni, pineapple, and mushrooms for the record) and it makes me really happy!

Batwoman and Kate/Sophie is, to me, an okay pizza. If we’re getting literal, I think it’d be pizza with maybe pepperoni - a thing that I love - but also maybe two kinds of olives and green peppers and SO MANY WEIRDLY GORY SCENES WITH SKIN FACE MASKS WHY IS THIS A CASUAL TROPE. And so, like. It’s not my favourite pizza for a few reasons, most of which aren’t related to the quality of the pepperoni itself. The reasons I don’t like this pizza have to do with the ways I feel about those other toppings, and the ways they interact with each other. My feelings are also influenced by whether or not there is other pizza around - if this is the only pizza at the shop and I’m really hungry, maybe I can overlook the green pepper and politely pick off the olives and make this pizza work! 

But also, like. Have you ever been at a party where two people start debating what the best kind of pizza is? It’s a fun discussion, but it’s ultimately unwinnable! Some people just love pineapple and pepperoni and mushrooms, and some people love BBQ chicken and olives, and each of those people are going to have a super different take on what it means to be a best pizza. 

However, with pizza and with fandom, it’s always most polite to try to enjoy what you enjoy, and not make someone else feel bad for liking things that you don’t. Let the Batwoman stans enjoy their olive pizza, and if Avalance is more your thing, enjoy that in the way that makes you feel happiest, and be glad that you live in a world where nobody can make you eat olives that you don’t want. Ashanti was working late that night at the dress shop and she’d asked him to watch over her adorable daughter Behati and he was happy to oblige. Levi had always considered himself a big kid anyway so getting along with the nine year old was a breeze. She was so smart and witty, it caught him off guard sometimes. She was just like her mum. The thought of Ashanti momentarily brought a smile to his face before it morphed into a frown. Something wasn’t right. 

 ‘Rocket?’ He called out, suspicious of the silence enveloping the apartment. A worm of worry grew in his chest and he pocketed the bracelets before heading to the little girl's room. He knocked on the door but there was no answer. 

‘Behati?’

Levi tried to keep his voice even, as his mind ran through a list of the worst possibilities. If anything happened to the kiddo, he would never forgive himself. After a long terrifying moment, he heard her sweet clear voice call out. 

 ‘Come in.’ 

‘Oh Rocket you almost gave me a heart attack! If anything happened to you- Wait why are you dressed like that?’ Levi cut his relieved rambling short, confused. He took in the sight of the nine year old, perched on her bed, wearing her school lab coat and massive costume glasses with a clipboard and pen in her hands. 

 ‘Have a seat Mr Schuler,’ she instructed, nodding to a chair she’d strategically placed before her. 

 Levi obeyed, barely able to suppress a grin at how adorable Behati looked but sensing that she wanted this to be a serious affair, he decide to play along. ‘Am I in trouble ma’am?’ 

The girl shook her head solemnly. ‘I’m going to ask you some questions and get to know you better. We’ll start off easy. What's your favourite colour?’ 

He chuckled, graciously going along with her game. ‘Blue. What’s yours? Lemme guess..’ He gave a quick glance around the room then at her colourful t-shirt. ‘Purple..?’ 

‘Yes!’ Behati smiled widely before turning back to her clipboard. 'If you could be any animal the world what would you be?’ 

Levi puffed out his chest proudly. ‘Probably something cool. Like a falcon or a jaguar. Something thats awesome and badass like me.’ HIs eyes widened in shock, not sure what Ashanti’s policy on swearing was but not wanting to risk it either. 

Behati patted his knee sympathetically. ‘It will be our little secret.’ She even had the gall to wink at him. 

'What’s your third favourite ice cream flavour?' ‘I- Oh wow I don’t think I’ve thought about it before,’ he rubbed the back of his neck as he thought. ‘First would be chocolate for sure, then caramel…. then maybe…hmm. Gotta go with Ben & Jerry’s cookie dough. Love that stuff.’ 

'Speaking of food, do you like pineapple on pizza or not?’

‘Hell no!’ He exclaimed. ‘Why would you interrupt the rich awesome flavours of meat and cheese with something sickeningly sweet. Pineapple is the worst fruit. And fruit does not belong on pizza.’ He crossed his arms to make a point. 

 ‘Are you sure?’ ‘One hundred percent positive.’ Behati’s eyes sparkled. ‘What about tomato? Thats a fruit and that definitely goes on pizza.’ 

After a beat, Levi shook his head. ‘Huh… guess ya got me there. You’re one smart cookie Rocket.' 

 She returned his fist bump before going back to her list. 'Which is your favourite Barbie movie?’ 

‘Uhh I… I haven’t seen any of the Barbie movies actually.’ 

The nine year old gasped as if he’d said he’d never heard of Beyonce or something. ‘Oh my gosh you have to watch them. My favourite is Barbie the Princess and the Pauper. It was one of the first ones and its got all mu favourite songs I also like the one where…' 

Levi let her ramble on for a few minutes, taking in how adorable she looked when she got excited talked about her favourite things. She literally lit up like the sun itself. God she’s going to go far. And I hope I’m there to see it. 

 ‘…but that one really sucks. Thats what Mum thinks.’ Behati gasped as if she’d gotten an idea. 'We should do a Barbie movie marathon! we’ll have snacks and drinks and treats. Maybe next time you babysit me we can ask Mum if we can do that.' 

Levi ruffled her hair affectionately, grinning. ‘Sure thing Rocket. You tell me when and where and I’ll be there.’ 

They chatted on for a little bit, making their grand plans to talk Ashanti into letting them watch over 10 movies back to back before Behati went back to her list. 

 'If you had to be in a band would you chose One Direction or BTS? 

‘Eww...Are those the only choices?’ he protested, rubbing the back of his neck. ‘I was thinking more along the lines of Bon Jovi or Led Zeppelin.’ 

Behati’s nose scrunched up. ‘Led what?’ 

Levi raised his eyes to heaven. ‘Hasn’t your mother taught you anything? They’re only the greatest bands of all time! Woooaaah livin on a prayer!’ Singing a few bars, he mimed a guitar solo and head banging for a few seconds only to see Behati covering her mouth to conceal her laughter. 

 ‘Whatever,’ he mumbled, in mock annoyance. ‘You kids these days have no taste.’ 

Behati tapped her pen against her clipboard before continuing on. 'Are there more leaves in the world or blades of grass?'

'Er, blades of grass… I think..?''What about trees? Are there more trees than buildings?' 

‘Um trees.’The nine year old cocked her head to the side.. ‘Are you sure?’

‘Uh pretty sure.’She was fixing him with an analytical gaze that made Levi suddenly second guess himself. Where there more trees than buildings…  

‘Hmm.’ Behati took a moment to think. ‘I need to look into it.’

‘You do that. Any more questions?'

‘Did you make those yourself?’

Surprised, Levi glanced down at the two homemade bracelets he’d been clutching the whole time, sheepishly hiding them behind his back. ‘If you ever tell your mum, I’ll deny everything.’ 

 Behati let out a giggle, breaking her act and Levi joined in, glad to see her so happy amidst the tough custody case her parents were in. If only that sonofabitch Guy would let go of his goddamn ego… This lil girl deserves the whole damn world. The whole damn universe while we’re at it. 

 ‘Sorry to break up the party kiddo but if I don’t get you into bed soon, our chances of having that Barbie marathon are Poof!’ He mimed an explosion with his hands. 

 ‘Last one,’ Behati pleaded, her mood growing much more sober as she fixed him with her big brown eyes. ‘Are you in love with my mum?’ 

What? That caught Levi off guard. How was he gonna answer that? 

 ‘What makes you say that?’ He asked, nervously rubbing the bag of his neck, hoping for some stalling time. 

 Behati shrugged. 'Its obvious. You’re always hanging out here and you and Mum get really smiley around each other. I even heard Mum talk to Alma about it one night when I was supposed to be sleeping.’ 

‘Oh yeah? What did she say?’ Levi queried, filled with curiosity. Ashanti was talking about him..? 

 ‘Nothing much,’ Behati replied between yawns. ‘She just think you’re cute and really really nice. So are you gonna marry her? Are you gonna be my new dad?’ 

He held his arms out in a defensive gesture. 'Woah woah, slow down Rocket, come back to earth for a bit huh? I don’t think we’re at that stage yet. Particularly with stuff with your actual dad.’ 

Levi looked at her open, innocent face, hanging on to his every word. He couldn’t get her hopes up but he couldn’t lie to her either. He debated internally with himself for a long moment before answering. 

 ‘Look Rocket, you and your mum are amazing people and I’m so lucky to have you in my life. I’m not saying anything too crazy with this but… I’d really like to be apart of your lives for as long as you’ll have me. Whether that will be just as your neighbour… or something… else. I don’t know yet. I don’t know what the future holds but anything is possible. You and I will just have to wait and see.’ 

He watched Behati nod, taking it all in sagely. 

He gave her a couple more seconds before clapping his hands twice. ‘Alright bedtime. Even rockets need their rest!' 

Soon after, Levi was tucking Behati under her space themed quilt before she piped up again. 

 'One more question.' 

'All theses questions and questions but alright, I’ll take one more.’ he replied, crouching down next to her bed, tucking her under the covers. ‘Whatcha got for me?’ 

‘Can you play for me? Mum usually sings me a song to go to sleep.’ 

Levi felt his heart soften a little. ‘Of course Rocket.' 

And that was how Ashanti found them when she came back that night; Behati fast asleep and Levi steaming idly on the strings as his face formed a gentle smile. 

 'Hey maestro. How’d it go?' 

'It was great.’ 

She raised her eyebrows, watching him rise from the chair and make his way over to her. ‘What? No snappy response.’ 

Levi smiled softly at her. ’Nah not tonight.' She returned the smile albeit a bit confused at his sudden affection. ‘Everything okay there Guitar boy?' T

hat was what he loved about Ashanti. No matter how tired and run down she was, she always made time for others, to ask them how they were, if they needed anything or simply just to give them a little pep talk. Her pep talks were sometimes the highlight of his day, he’d miss having people hat would be in his corner to talk him up and hold him accountable. He loved how she… He loved.. 

He was falling in love with her. 

 He glanced at the sleeping child in bed and again at her mother in the door way, feeling strangely at home right here. I could get used to this. Ashanti stared up at him, puzzled and Levi could have kissed her in that moment right there but taking in her tired eyes and probably aching feet after a long shift, he decided against it. There would be other times. He opted for a kiss on the head.  

‘Everything is perfect.’

“Y/n!” Ethan nagged, calling me for what seemed to be like the hundredth time. This boy has no patience, whatsoever.

I roll my eyes back in disbelief. “ Alright! I’m coming! Jeez!” When I manage to reach the room the complaining was coming from, my eyes fall upon Ethan’s sprawled out body. His chest was bare and his legs were limp, hanging off the end of his bed. He must’ve become bored of waiting for me as he had his phone out and was hovering it over his face with both hands. He was oblivious to me standing here.

Sneakily, I tiptoe over next to him and scream loudly as I grab him by his bicep and scare the living shit out of him. I’m so funny.

“Jesus, y/n! You made me drop my phone!” He pouts, sitting up and rubbing the left side of his face. I knew it was rude but I couldn’t help but to look at the bright screen laying on his bed beside him. He was looking at my Instagram post that I had put on an hour ago.

“Did you see the comment I left on there?” The pained boy wondered, scrolling through a few of the comments other people had left.

I shake my head ‘no’. “I don’t have any data on my phone.” I confess with a sigh.

Ethan, being the kind being he is, types in the WiFi password in on my phone and hands it back to me.

“I followed you. I hope you don’t mind.”

“Of course, E. It’s fine. Thank you so much!” I smile, looking down at my phone as many notifications pop up.

“Your fans are so fast to respond.” I chuckle, kinda shocked about the amount of comments I was receiving. “Both you guys are so lucky to have such an incredible fanbase.”

A big gleaming smile spreads across Ethan’s face, expressing the love he has for every single fan. “They’re really something aren’t they.” He agrees, leaning towards me slightly, also reading the comments on the photo.

“Do you ever get sick of the attention? I mean, I’m a fan myself but, you get no privacy on social media. Don’t you wish you could comment on something without being bombarded afterwards?” I couldn��t help but feel a little bit guilty. Admit it, we’ve all been there, just begging to be noticed by the one person who always seems to make your heart flutter, without fail, even though they have no clue about your existence.

Ethan shakes his head. “No, that’s what social media is for. If I wanna comment privately, I’ll just inbox or text the person instead. Plus it’s nice to give the fans some look into our personal life. It makes them feel move involved.” He’s so caring and sweet, it’s tugging at my heart! “I love my fans, wholeheartedly, and they know I do.”

“Yeah, they definitely know.” I nod in agreement and lock my phone. “Right, so, what’s happening then? We gonna sit and talk all night or do you wanna do something?” Listening to myself talking, I mentally slap myself. He must think I sound like a bitch. “I mean- I really- don’t get me wrong, I love talking to you but I’m sure you don’t want to listen to me blabbering all night.”

“I was enjoying talking, to be honest. I don’t get to talk to many people, other than Grayson, about stuff like that. It’s nice.” He admits, standing up and putting his phone on charge and laying it on his bedside table.

I put my bag down on the floor at the foot of his bed and begin stretching. “I mean, we can carry on talking if you want but I thought it’d just be nice to do something else.”

“Well I did have an activity planned for tonight but because Gray is sick and Sam couldn’t make it, it’s gone out the window.” Ethan sighs, crawling onto his bed and sitting against the headboard.

“What was the plan?” I ask, curiously.

“I was going to suggest bowling but it doesn’t matter. We can always do something else.”

“Like what?”

“Uhh- a movie maybe? We can either go out or we can pull the sofa bed out in the living room and watch something in there? We can get snacks and everything.” I absolutely loved the idea of staying in and watching a movie with E. It sounded like something out of a fan fiction.

“Ooh, I like the sound of staying in. Do you guys have popcorn?”

Ethan stands up off the bed and waves his hand in a ‘follow me’ motion. “I think so but I was thinking of something along the line of pizza?” Say no more!

“YES!” I cheer, clapping excitedly.

He laughs, amused by my reaction and turns the tv on that was hanging on the wall. “Alright, I’ll order after we pull the bed out. Do you just wanna go ask Grayson if he wants some food? He hasn’t really eaten much today.”

“Sure can!” I turn on my heal and head back down the hall to Gray’s bedroom, knocking before walking in.

“Hey Gray, how you feelin’?” I question, peeping my head around the corner to see him sleeping with his mouth wide open and his phone still in his hand.

Debating whether to leave him alone or not, I look at the glass beside his bed and see that it’s empty. Being the good friend that I am, I take his glass and fill it back up with water. On the way back to his room, I grab the sandwich out from my bag, that my papa had given me earlier on today, just in case he wakes up hungry.

As I place the glass and food down on his bedside table, the sleepy boy starts stirring and begins to open is eyes. He smiles lightly after rubbing his eyes with the palm of his hands, stretching in the process.

“This for me?” He asks in a groggy voice, sitting himself up and grabbing the sandwich. I nod.

“Yeah, Papa made it. Best sandwich you’ll ever eat.” I tell him, sitting down beside him on the edge of the bed.

“I don’t want it if it’s yours, y/n!” The sick boy complains, holding the food out for me to take.

“No it’s fine! Me and Ethan are gonna order some pizza and watch a movie in the living room.” I assure him. “I’ll save you some if you’d like.”

“Only if it’s pineapple.”

“Okay but you still gotta eat this sandwich though.”

“Deal.” Grayson agrees, taking a bite of the peanut butter and jelly sandwich. I wait a few moments for him to get a good taste. Soon enough, his faces lights up in amazement.

“It’s good, isn’t it!”

“Hooolllyyyyyyy-“ he pauses, throwing his head back is delight. “Why is this the best thing I’ve eaten?! Like, ever?!”

“Probably because it’s my grandmas homemade bread.” I chuckle at the boy next to me, looking as though he’s having a food-gasm.

“Alright, well, I’ll leave you and your new lover to have fun. Call me or E if you need anything else.” Grayson nods his head ‘yes’ in response, filling his mouth with another bite of the yummy sandwich.

Walking back into the living room, I notice that Ethan had completed setting up the bed and was now laying down, comfortably.

“Gray okay?” He asks, patting the bed beside him. I do as I’m told and get in next to him, pulling the sheet up to my chin.

“Yeah he’s eating a sandwich I gave him.”

Jealousy washes over Ethan’s face causing me to raise a brow.

“What’s wrong?” I ask, turning my head towards him.

“That’s not fair! Where’s mine?!” Ethan whines. This boy can’t seriously be upset over the fact I gave his twin brother a sandwich and not him.

“I thought we were gonna get pizza?” I furrow my brows. “And besides, Gray deserves it because he doesn’t get to spend time with us. It’s only fair.”

Ethan huffs “Fine but you owe me.”

Rolling my eyes, I let out a little snicker. “Okay, what about a hug?”

“Make it a cuddle and we’ve got a deal.”

“They’re the same thing, E!”

Ethan shakes his head, vigorously. “No, no, no. A hug is just a quick embrace. A cuddle, however, is warm, comforting and a lot longer.” He explains, bottom lip sticking out in a pout. “Please y/n, just this once.”

I’m not gonna say no to cuddling with Ethan. Who would be stupid enough to say no? I’m gonna get all the cuddles I can.

“Fiiine!” I act casual, as if his request didn’t phase me at all, but truth is I was freaking out inside.

You know when you’ve only just met someone? and you know you shouldn’t feel anything towards them but you can’t help but feel a little attached? That’s exactly how I’m feeling right now.

I pull my hoodie up over my head and throw it on the floor beside me. I didn’t want to get all comfy with Ethan then decide that I’m too hot and have to remove myself from him just to take my hoodie off.

“What movie do you wanna watch?” Ethan questions, pulling me into his side so my head is resting on his shoulder.

“I dunno, something like a comedy?” I recommend, bring my arm up and draping it across his torso.

“You smell nice.” He compliments out of the blue.

“Uhh- thank you?” I answer, making it sound more like a question.

Ethan turns his head to the side and inhales the scent of my hair. It had only been a few hours ago that I had washed it with my favourite shampoo and conditioner.

“It that strawberry?”

“It is.” I confirm with a small chuckle.

Seconds pass and the entire house seems to come to a stand still. Nothing but the sound of distant ticking could be heard - more than likely coming from the clocking hanging on the kitchen wall.

I tilt my head up to come face to face with Ethan staring at me, deep in thought. His eyes were scanning over my facial features, looking as though he had never seen anyone up close like this before. Like this was new to him. He looked so confused.

His eyes fall upon my parted lips as his large hand rises and, ever so softly, he moves a tiny strand of hair out of face and pushes it behind my ear. I keep my gaze fixed to his wandering eyes, waiting patiently for him to look back up to my pleading ones.

As if he was reading my mind, he glances back up and furrows his brow.

“What’s wrong?” I murmur, taking hold of his hand that was now cupping the side of my face.

Before answering, he looks back down to my lips and lets out a small sigh.

“Nothing’s wrong, y/n. I just- this feels weird.“

My heart drops. Did I do something wrong?

“I’m sorry-“ i look down as i feel tears starting to well up in my eyes. “I should go” I mumble, attempting to detach myself from Ethan’s embrace - however, I’m stopped by an arm pulling me back in.

“Please, don’t.” The boy pleads. He places a forefinger and thumb on my chin, gently turning my face to look at him. “I want you here.”

“But I’m making you feel weird.”

“It’s not bad, I’ve just never felt anything like this before.” Ethan explains in a hushed tone, never breaking eye contact.

“Never felt like what?”

“Like- fuuuck“ Ethan curses, resting his forehead against mine, starting to become slightly frustrated with himself.

I place a hand on his cheek, comfortingly, assuring him it’s okay. “Take your time, E. Don’t push yourself.”

“I really like you, y/n.” Ethan blurts out, causing me to freeze in place.

Did Ethan Dolan really just say that?
