okay i've been seeing more and more people, especially fic writers and fan artists, leaving social media because of the way they're being treated and it's becoming worrying.

fandom creators are not celebrities (not that you should treat celebrities horribly either but y'know what i mean.) most of the time they're teenagers or young adults just making some art in their room at 3am about a thing they like.

you have no right to make demands or offer unsolicited criticism. no right. it's the equivalent of banging on your neighbor's door to let them know you don't like how they've decorated their garden. it's their garden. you can look at it. you can like or dislike it. and then you move along. you're not allowed to demand that they change it.

and when people share things about their personal life online that is not an invitation for you to invade their privacy or converse with complete strangers like they're your childhood besties.

respect people's boundaries. ask for permission before offering your opinion. just be fucking nice to people please.

somewhat cheesy post incoming

5 years ago today i bit the bullet. having somewhat recently downloaded pinterest, i noticed that many of the pictures i liked were linked to tumblr, and after weeks of stalking the site i finally decided to create my own blog. being a very introverted 14 year old that was helplessly hyperfixated on the 1920s, tumblr seemed too good to be true. in a way, it was, as most of the cool blogs i stalked were long dead, however it maintained exactly what i was so excited to find when i first stumbled upon it- it was a place full of likeminded people who shared the same interests as i did. luckily, despite the different hyperfixations i've gone through since then, it's always remained a place where i can find lovely people who like the same things i do. i've been through A LOT since april of 2019, and i'm honestly hardly the same person who somewhat hesitantly signed up to tumblr as @1920s-obsessed (if you remember me from those days you are a REAL one oh my god). i'm very grateful for all 1,639 of you, most of which are probably porn bots and dead blogs <3 thank you for sticking with me over the last half decade!

I was thinking about how I just sort of have a thing for preferring unique album titles for whatever reason cause it helps the album to stand out from any songs and I think requires a bit more thinking (an example being how Blondie's "Autoamerican" album does not have a song titled "Autoamerican" anywhere on it) and I started wondering if anyone else is like,, as opinionated on this as I am? I'll admit I do also think it's fun to spot the album title in a song if none of the songs are title tracks (the song "Putting Shame In Your Game" on the Beastie Boys' "Hello Nasty" album features lyrics which reference the album's title, for example), so that's a happy medium!
