akaza turns kyojuro by accident bc he bleeds too much into kyo's open wounds during the mugen train fight, and neither notice until it's too late. shinobu notices too and decides perhaps that this might be a prime research opportunity... uh-oh! the ethical quandries are good in this, and shinobu while flawed is very well-written. renkaza also end up with a soul bond. another emotional one but god is the journey amazing. tw for some torture scenes that could be graphic.

Small Fire of Winter Stars by phabulousphantom (66k)

modern au where akaza is a tattoo artist and kyo runs a teens program at the local community centre. it's one of my faves bc i just love stories about jaded people opening up and finding love and trust again, and this is exactly that. i also love the ensemble cast in it. the teenagers are adorable, especially inosuke who is a problem kid that finds something aspirational with akaza. thinking abt this fic is making me smile again!

Camp Kasugai by si1verbird77 (20k)

also modern au where renkaza are both counselors at a summer camp. kyo runs a percy jackson program, and he and akaza fall in love over the summer with the help of the deep trust that camp atmospheres usually end up fostering. kyo and sen, and akaza as well, also touch on the grief of losing parents, and the nature of camps as a place to grow into yourself and how time keeps moving. it's nice. i love this one a lot.

Inertia (series) by TipperTupper (23k)

akaza saves kyo from freezing to death, and kyo marvels at the compassion and humanity that akaza seems to hold in his muscle memory. ends up digging a little bit into akaza's trauma both as a human and as a demon controlled by muzan. sanemi gets a little mad about it in the third part and it's funny. overall vibe of the series is warm.

The Neverending Night by apodis (155k - incomplete)

when i say this fic rotates in my brain 24/7!!! akaza gets stuck in a time loop that resets every time kyo dies. it explores akaza's nature as someone who is willing to sacrifice everything for loved ones, and it's interesting bc at first kyo hates him, and then he starts to realize there's something wrong with akaza's memories bc of muzan, and he starts to really see how self-effacing akaza is. it's SO good, and the realizations both kyo and you as the reader have build and layer as the story progresses. akaza and kaname (kyo's crow) also build a friendship that is so important to me.

Demon's Choice by Celeste Gladnick (lairMorbidon) (69k - incomplete)

akaza defects early and joins tamayo, and so many more people are alive as a result. kyo in this one is interesting bc he's bigoted against demons thanks to his upbringing in a slayer family under abusive shinjuro, and refuses to see that akaza is anything other than dangerous, despite literally everyone else sticking up for him. extra fun bc he crushes on butterfly assistant hakuji without realizing that it's akaza in a human guise. akaza himself also has some deeply held trauma he doesnt quite realize he has.

what i wouldn't give by DragonsAndCryptids (59k)

senjuro becomes terminally ill and his end is fast-approaching. akaza, who's been bothering kyo on and off for two years since mugen train, hears about it and offers to help by turning sen into a demon. at first, kyo gives a hard no, but as his baby brother's illness progresses... well, anyone would get a little desperate, wouldn't they? love this bc one of my fave things abt renkaza is pushing kyo to his moral and ethical limit lol.

siren au! well, akaza's a siren, and kyo is the caretaker of a house that sees many different travelers. akaza's just the latest one. i love this one bc it's fantastical elements are wonderful, and it builds a very interesting world. as the reader, you have a lot of questions and it's an experience getting them answered. it's also prettily written. :)

Little Fighter Boy Comes Marching Home by VTheTrashKing (19k)

akaza gets de-aged by a demon's blood art, and kyo comes upon a little human boy with black hair and blue eyes, a chip on his shoulder and a very implicitly sad past, what with the criminal markings on his wrists and the way he insists he can take care of himself. another one of my fave renkaza things and kyo getting bowled over by hakuji's tragic story so i loved the way he puzzles it together in this one based on the little boy in front of him, and just finds one sad thing after another.

“Don’t die, Kyojuro” by Lenasaurous (24k)

akaza lets kyo live and often tells him not to die. kyo, who's life is often visited by death considering his occupation, begins to rely on akaza's immortality as a demon, and depend on his company as a constant--that is, until akaza passes out from not eating, and stays down for the count. uh-oh. (i also love this fic 'cuz there's this scene where akaza tries so hard to make kyo like him by giving him herbs and helpful plants, even tho kyo doesn't really want him around at that point, and it's so sweet and so sad. i wanna give him a hug!!!)

Memories behind broken glass by GammaRays (58k - incomplete)

this is the akaza whump fic of my dreams lol he gets captured and experimented on by shinobu (and it can be grisly so tw for that). kyo lured him into a trap to get him captured and ends up standing guard and starting to question his morals when it becomes clear that shinobu is being intentionally cruel. as the torture experiments go on, akaza also becomes so delirious that he begins to remember his human past. kyo loses it a little. it's good.

All the things a cup can hold by Liatheus (9k)

akaza takes shinjuro demon hunting lol. this is actually more of a shinjuro character study with side renkaza, but i love it specifically for a scene near the end where they all have tea, and ruka's empty place at the table feels obvious, and kyo and shinjuro are sort of crying about it. i also love that it explores the way shinjuro used to be a hashira, and how akaza investigates his strength in that sense. shinjuro's strength is an important aspect to kyojuro that doesn't often get delved into, and it makes sense to me that akaza sort of looks into it, as someone who loves kyo's strength.

this one's more artsy than anything but i love sci-fi as a genre so i'm reccing it lol i'm being self-indulgent. for whatever reason, throughout his life, akaza gets visited by various hashira. it's all very timey-wimey and the renkaza is more implied than anything, but there's this scene where akaza's being held trial at a hashira meeting, and then a future sanemi and future giyuu come out of nowhere to protect him and shock the living daylights out of their past selves, and it's so wild. i love it so much.

i know a lot of you guys have been wondering wtf is up with my upload schedule lately and the extreme lack of even basic content and also i am extremely aware that i have not updated my fics in a few millennia and for that i am very, very sorry. this post is to answer a few questions you might have, if anyone was curious about the 'reason' instead of just the 'when.'

my family and i have had a hell of a year, y'all. like, jesus christ, i really hope things level out and calm down for a while once we're moved in to our new apartment bc god damn we are so tired. the list goes: 1. we got kicked out of the house we were renting-to-own bc we wouldn't be able to afford the new rate, so they gave us two months to find a new place to live (not long enough, it turns out) and then foreclosed to get us out. 75% of our belongings were still in the house when we had to leave. that includes all of our christmas ornaments- including the ones kept for decades, and the ones made by me and my siblings, and the fancy ones made from blown glass. 2. the first night out of the house, one of our dogs, freaked out by the strangeness of the situation, panicked and slipped her harness and ran off. that was over a year ago. we haven't seen her since. 3. my cat got very ill and became unable to eat. she passed away almost exactly a year ago. she had been 14-15, and had been my baby since i was maybe 8. 4. one of the tires on my dads car blew out. during the night, while it was parked on the curb so he could put the spare on in the morning, one of the in-tact tires was fucking stolen LMAO 5. we applied to rent at so many places and got rejected so, so many times. it costs money to apply, btw. we're talking like $200+. no, u don't get that money back. 6. i lost my job bc knowing i would have to work 8 hours at a job that stresses me out to the point of exhaustion (at a place where no one takes me seriously and would actively laugh at me when i try to express my need to step away for a minute) sometimes paralyzed me and made me sick to my stomach and made me feel unable to leave the house, and i called out one too many times. a day after my birthday, too! 7. just recently, like within the last week, my dad's car got fuckin totalled!!!!!

THE GOOD NEWS IS WE OFFICIALLY, FINALLY, AFTER A SOLID YEAR, HAVE AN APARTMENT!!!!! I'LL HAVE MY OWN ROOM AGAIN!!! THERE'S AN ENTIRE KITCHEN!!!!!!!

the 'oh god' news is we still have to move in, and replace a lot of the stuff that we just couldn't take with us when we moved out (mostly stuff like bookshelves, dining table, dressers, etc) AND get the few things we could cram into a storage center out and moved into the new place, which isn't a lot but at the same time is more than we can realistically handle on our own. and then, we have to get my mums cats (a pair of kitty sisters that we had to temporarily house with my aunt, who got tired of looking after them and let them outside to be outdoor cats a few months ago. yes, this was an extremely shitty thing to do, and we've been working hard to get them back safely) AND my gecko (who my cousin has been looking after, even tho feeding him worms freaks him out LMAO yes i plan on compensating him) moved in, as well... basically oh my god there is so much to worry about but at the same time it's nice to have to worry about it bc it means we're making progress sdkfhsjdkfhdsjfh

basically i am just so tired but so busy and also thinkin abt so much im so sorry for lack of stuff but i am so looking forward to being able to bounce back, pls stick with me, it'll be sorted out soon i think and then i'll hit y'all with some good stuff i promise!!!!!!!

Clem and Nick held hands as they walked out of the elevator. Clem dropped Nick's hand to dig the key out of her purse as they approached the door.

"These heals are killing me." Clem groaned sticking the key into the knob. "Why do they have to be so pretty?" She looked down admiring them.

"They do make your legs look very-" Nick tried following Clem into the apartment, but was roughly pushed back into the hallway. "What?" He questioned noticing the shocked look on Clem's face as she closed the door again. "Did Shannon leave the living room a mess again? I swear I am gonna give that girl a stern talking to." Nick shook his head.

"No! She's in there cuddling with someone on the couch." She whisper-shouted.

"What? Who?" Nick asked intrigued.

"I don't know. I didn't get a good look." Clem shrugged.

"Well, what do we do?" Nick asked.

"We can't just walk in there." Clem said trying to think of a plan.

"Actually, we can because it's our apartment." Nick said trying to walk past Clem, but she grabbed his arm stopping him.

"Shannon has obviously been hiding whoever that is and if we just barge in there she might feel like we're attacking her and she'll stop actually talking to us."

"When has she ever actually talked us? If you think about it, we really don't know anything about that girl. She might not even be your sister." Nick said.

"I'm serious." Clem placed her hands on her hips.

"Fine, at least let me get a look at this before we go in." Nick said. He slowly turned the door knob and quietly opened the door, only a bit, peaking his head into the apartment. His eyes landed on Shannon with her arms wrapped around her guests shoulders and her head leaning on top of theirs.

"Aw, it's kind of cute." Clem whispered, her head appearing below Nick's as they both watched the two.

"Yeah, I've never seen Shannon so affectionate." Nick whispered back.

As if on cue, Shannon's guests sat up and turned to lean towards Shannon pressing a gently kiss to her lips. Nick and Clem's eyes widened and their jaws dropped as they stared at the two. They quietly shuffled back into the hall and closed the door.

"I know that girl!" Clem whispered shocked. "I saw her and Shannon hanging out the other day when I went shopping with your mom."

"Why didn't you say anything?" Nick asked offended Clem didn't tell him the biggest news about Shannon.

"I thought they were friends. They didn't look all couple-y when I saw them." Clem explained. "I can't believe Shannon didn't tell me about this. I mean I know we just reconnected, but still this is big."

"Come on, Clem. It's Shannon." Nick grabbed her hands to attempt to comfort her. "She's not exactly an open book."

"I just wish she felt like she could've told me. I don't want her to hide from us." Clem frowned.

The couple jumped upon hearing the door open. Clem whipped around putting on a smile while Nick did the same.

"Uh, hey guys." Shannon said staring at them curiously. "How was date night?"

"It was great, actually. We had this delicious-" Nick started explaining, but was interrupted by Shannon.

"I was just being polite. I don't care that much." Shannon said making him nodded sarcastically.

"Who's this?" Clem asked looking at the girl next to Shannon holding her hand.

"Um, this is my friend, y/n." Shannon introduced.

"Hi, it's nice to meet you." She smiled kindly.

"I'm Clem," She grinned. "This is my fiancé, Nick. It's so nice to finally meet one of Shannon's...friends."

"Why are you being weird?" Shannon asked.

"I'm not being weird." Clem quickly denied.

"Okay," Shannon trailed off. "I'm gonna walk her downstairs. I'll be right back."

Clem stood in front of Shannon drinking her coffee. Shannon was glued to her phone, too busy texting away to notice Clem staring at her trying to think of the best way to bring up Shannon's "friend" from last night.

"So..." Clem trailed, placing her coffee mug on the counter. "Is y/n a new friend?"

"No." Shannon said simply not even looking up from her phone.

"How long have you known her?" Clem asked.

"Why are you being so nosy?" Shannon looked up from her phone suspiciously.

"I'm just wondering." Clem shrugged. "You've never brought anyone over here."

"She's been my best friend for like three years." Shannon answered. "I met her at school."

"You seem really close." Clem pointed out.

"Yeah, we are." Shannon nodded looking back at her phone in her hands.

"Okay." Clem snatched her phone out her hands making Shannon's eyes grow wide.

"Clem, what the hell?" Shannon reached across the counter trying to grab her phone back.

"I need to ask you something." Clem swatted her hand away. Shannon sat back in her seat with a huff of annoyance. "Please, don't get mad. I'm asking you this because I care about you and want you to feel comfortable here."

"What are you talking about, Clem?" Shannon looked at her utterly confused.

"Is y/n your girlfriend?" Clem asked.

Nick who had just stepped foot into the kitchen froze and turned back around to grab his briefcase. "I'll grab some coffee on the way to work." He said before scurrying out the door.

"Pfft, what?" Shannon laughed, attempting to hide her paled face. "Why are you asking that?"

"I saw you two at the mall together. I didn't think anything of it until last night." Clem admitted.

"You're spying on me?" Shannon raised her voice a little.

"No, of course not! I was shopping with Rose and I saw you two walking around." Clem explained. "Look, Shannon. I just want you to feel like you can be yourself here. You look really happy when you're with her and I hope you know you don't have to hide anything from us."

"y/n is my girlfriend." Shannon said looking at Clem with nervous eyes. "I was planning on telling you, but I got scared that maybe you wouldn't accept me, and we really needed a place to stay."

"We?" Clem questioned.

"Oh, yeah. y/n spends the night a lot. Her mom always has her boyfriends over, so she usually crashes with me." Shannon told her.

"Ok, we're gonna circle back to that later." Clem said shocked.

"y/n's really important to me, Clem." Shannon said. Clem sat up straighter upon hearing the seriousness of her tone. "Before she was my girlfriend she was my best friend. I don't wanna any of our mess of a family to ruin my relationship with her."

"Well, I saw the way you two looked together last night. I've never seen you so happy." Clem rubbed her shoulder giving her a soft smile.

"Thanks, Clem." Shannon smiled back.

okay!! now onto my personal misceverse (this might all be so tmi but i have no fear and unlimited characters)

so i’m afab, and i have a pretty regular human horomone/menstruale cycle. in the human horomone cycle, similar to cycles in misceverse/omegaverse, there’s a phase called ‘ovulation’ that lasts about a week and is when a person is most fertile. irl the person would get kinda horny (usually, it’s different for everyone) bc their body is prepping them for, ya know, procreation.

in omegaverse, this is turned up to the max. if u look at literally any omegaverse content you’ll see right away that it’s hornier than horny. like, week long sex fest horny. debilitatingly insatiable sex drive that leaves u house bound for days horny.

soooo, that’s kinda what it’s like for me. i’ve always been a very hormonal person anyway, and i’m also neurodivergent and i think (can’t confirm) that it makes me extra sensitive to, like, everything, including my horomones. heats for me are just (kinda painful) super horny times where i’m very easily overwhelmed and need the isolation of my home, my nest, until it ends and my horomones settle again. this is defo tmi but sometimes my mate (who is the love of my life and also a beta) can’t keep up with the omega-in-heat energy and has to tap out, and we’ve jokingly talked about opening up our relationship just for heats :,)

in terms of horomones/pheromones (which are a huge part of misce/omegaverse), humans irl actually do have pheromones that attract potential partners, and they are stronger during ovulation. in omegaverse, this is much much more obvious, given that everyone has a signiture scent in a way that humans outside of misceverse/omegaverse don’t! but yeah they are a real thing, and i use a lot of perfume/scented moistures/oils daily to enchance mine. my mate always say i sell delicous so i must be doing smth right hehehe ;3

my expectations of taylor when it comes to saying shit abt politics have always been incredibly low, but i really did half believe that she might say/do something during her nashville gigs to voice her opposition to the drag ban/anti trans legislation stuff there.

Lizzo & hayley kiyoko both brought drag queens out to perform with them on stage during shows right before taylor's tour dates, like hayley kiyoko literally had the cops showing up to her rehearsals telling her to stop & she still stood her ground, yet taylor can't even say a few words or something. She was literally in the perfect position to say a little statement on the matter. She started out in nashville so her opinion as a semi-local girl with country music roots would hold more weight than like... ariana grande or something, but she also isn't in that scene anymore and she's one of the biggest celebrities on the planet so its unlikely she would face any real repercussions for speaking out.

I genuinely don't mind if celebrities don't really talk about their politics bc like, what do the opinions of billionaires have to do with normal people. However if you're going to pay a documentary crew to film you saying you're ready to take A Stand and then do nothing apart from sing your gay rights song and post a solitary black square, while associating yourself with shitty people of every flavour, then actually put your money where your mouth is and do it.

yeah when hayley was posting about that and she was crying and i was crying it was so so brutal but i was so proud of her for standing up for her drag performers even when they told her she couldnt. i didnt know lizzo did this too but holy shit.

yes!! i have playlists for p much all of my dnd characters inc her. i know she likes classical music, a lot of instrumentals, she has a much more formal taste than most of my other characters (cal gets rock music, neri gets pop). the playlist tends to be more so stuff that i like listening to that fits them than stuff they'd listen to tho, so it's not very representative of her tastes. the song i usually associate her with is nuvo orchestra's merry-go-round of life from howl's moving castle, mostly bc i see it playing during One backstory scene

iirc i made her two years ago during the summer! mostly made her up while i was bored at work knowing that my friend group was planning on playing strahd soon. best i got for her birthday is that it's midwinter, i didn't specify beyond that. i think she likes birthdays but she's not going to go crazy abt it. she's introverted so she'll probably stay home or just walk around town, get herself a small treat and head home again to read for a while (unless keziah, juno's not-gf and government assigned extrovert, interrupts her to drop by and demands an actual celebration), but she'd be happy to plan a party for someone else who would enjoy one more. probably plans keziah's every year

18. their opinion on lying, stealing, and killing?

ok so unlike cal (and neri, who is an impressionable child) juno actually has Morals. she's never killed a person and doesn't want to, lying is wrong, stealing is wrong. Unless. and this is a big unless. it's necessary and unavoidable. if lying will save your life, it's ok to lie. if you have to kill to survive, then you have to do what must be done. if, like juno, you're a dhampir who has to feed on human spinal fluid in order to live without blinding migraines and what is essentially withdrawals, it's ok to steal that/ask your best friend to do medical malpractice a little bit so you don't lose your mind from hunger. this is going to be really fun in practice bc her whole party are almost all "violence won't solve this problem but it might create newer, more fun problems so we can't rule out the possibility" people

23. how would you describe their voice? can they sing?

bc it's dnd i regrettably have to do juno's voice so it's a bit hard ghsdfdjkk. i do an australian accent while playing her (probably not a good one. but who cares) and i think i tend to speak at around the same pitch i usually do. she sounds kind of shy and can talk a bit on the slower side. i don't think she's an excellent singer, but she can probably carry a tune!

28. how do they show that they care about someone? how do they express that they don't like someone?

oh i think abt this a LOT. so it's hard to get juno to genuinely admit that she hates someone bc she wants everyone to like her and think she's a good person so fucking bad. the guy who turned her by literally injecting her with vampire blood? now she does hate him, he ruined her life. but the worst she really does abt it is give him the cold shoulder, trash talk him to friends and hold a lifelong grudge. she won't blow up on someone she dislikes unless they do smth awful first, she's going to keep all of that inside until it eats away at her and try to remain civil

she is a big acts of service person if she likes someone tho. my favourite example is w her and keziah bc keziah bakes, but she's really, really bad at it. the only thing she's made successfully is sugar cookies, everything else burns, is undercooked or just tastes awful and she won't stop bc keziah needs to be good at this and also everything else she does ever. and juno eats anything keziah gives her. no matter how bad it tastes juno will try to choke it down, at least some of it, to make her feel better. she has literally gotten food poisoning over it and she'd do it again. like if juno is friends with you you're gonna know bc she's going to be trying to do your chores for you or offering to deal with that thing you didn't want to do. every time she goes home to visit her parents she winds up weeding the garden w her mom even tho she hates gardening

probably tea! she really likes tea, also uses it to hide the taste of spinal fluid when she drinks it so she has it often. i think she likes fruity kinds like apple or raspberry :) and/or ink, bc this is the era of writing with quills

it really depends on who you ask, bc people have some varied ideas of her. i think most of her coworkers (who she was around most of the time) would say she seems nice enough but they don't really feel like they know her, maybe kind of cagey/nervous but really into her subject. the party, at least as of rn, would probably call her an uptight nerd. they're both pretty correct lol

i think she'd be like... objectively correct, just on the facts? but her self image is just FUCKED. juno calls herself a teacher first, introduces herself as dr vanidestine half the time, would probably talk abt her job more than her personal traits. the problem is that 1. she is very self conscious but also 2. literally thinks she can outsmart the demon she's bound to serving. she won't say she's smarter than anyone, but she does really think she's smarter than most of the people she knows. it's kind of insidious bc she can't know how incorrect her self perception is, and it's abt to bite her in the ass

Hi anon! Tbh, she just sort of annoys me, it's not like I vehemently hate her but when I made that she still had quite a big presence and I just sort of wasn't interested in interacting with her, I might change it tbh bc I'm not as frustrated with her as I used to be, it's mostly the MCU i kinda don't want to go near.

At the time, the problem for me was that I was reading Ms Marvel v2 (part of my first Wonder Man read-through and I'll be going back to that at some point 😬) and during that she takes away Julia Carpenter away from her child to arrest her for illegal vigilante things during Civil War. And yeah, she feels bad abt it but it's really hard to feel bad for her when she is literally tearing apart families in the name of the U.S. government and that kinda left me with a sour taste in my mouth after that. Doesn't help that Civil War 2 was like, one of the first comics I ever bought and was the reason I didn't bother continuing reading them until like I got weird about Simon. So just generally, bad luck with the stuff I read her in, but yeah, I guess I don't dislike her that much, she's just a lot pro-military a lot of the time and it's unfortunate, but a reality.

This makes a lot of sense but...

Katsuki's parents still have quirks/specializations (father makes little explosions, mother has the nitroglycerin-like sweat or smth) so idt the abuse would be much worse unless he uses it in the house. Either that or his mom might even be nicer to him bc of the circumstances and how the overall problem is society and not her son (with a mom like Mitsuki, they would usually think th3 child to be the problem and not the circumstances but if the circumstances and problems are staring them in the face and are unavoidable, sympathy/empathy can spread to the point that they are literally buttering their children. This stems from them seeing their children as another them and self projecting while the abusive side stems from not wanting themselves to be to blame and they therefore use the child as a scapegoat. That and self projection make them become more tough and strict bc, in their eyes, if the child fails, they fail). The parent point is debatable but I genuinely think they'd be more encouraging in ALTERNATIVE than what they are in the mha universe

And the thing he would want to succeed in... he has hobbies outside of hero stuff and one of the big ones is...music and cooking

I personally think the hero thing stuck bc he wanted to be cool and be able to use his quirk freely while earning money and also be able to be a sadist with the fights (at first anyway). He didn't start wanting to become a hero by wanting to save others. He just wanted an outlet and a fight. As well as wanting to be bett3r (aka enough for himself) and he saw All Might as the best of the best bc of how society painted him and how he always won. Then he thought "if I became a hero like All Might, better than All Might, I would be the best! * internal thoughts saying stuff like "and finally enough"*". But back then, he didn't know what that actually meant. He just thought abt it as beating up bad guys. And when he saw that that wasn't what being a hero was all about, he changed for the better so that he could fit his dream

Now I wonder if he would do that with any dream. He isn't stubborn to change if it's a better way to get what he wants (so if he wanted to become a mafia boss or smth and had to kill, he'd probably do it) so... his character is more flexible than we think. We just need to give him a shove in whatever direction we want and he's probs gonna go through with it

For example, say we want him to become a chef. He can meet Gordan Ramsey or smth, get praised and become a master chef that's actually a petty ass and continue the character development from there (I'm not rlly a fan of this particular idea bc I'd prefer him as the best drummer).

As another example, say we wanted him to become a drummer. Stick one of the best of the best in front of him and make him be like "I'LL BEAT THAT" and then it takes a while with him needing to be in a band and everything (hello my fan fiction that I will never finish).

Tho I think it also contributes as to what everyone says is the best thing out there. Ppl left and right wanted to become heroes in the mha universe but in the ALTERNATIVE AU, that isn't rlly an option. ok, so I think that what makes Dream act this way (iykyk) is how dreamwastaken became so big so quickly. and by quick I mean fucking lightning speed.

he didn't have enough time to learn enough about cc etiquette, especially in these three aspects: influence, boundaries and fanbase/stans/whatever you call it. I'll try to explain it:

• Influence: Does he know the influence he has? Like, when he hears that he is the myct with the largest fanbase, does he really process that? I remember he talked about not being able to control all of his fanbase and there's bad apples everywhere -- which is true, and that only like 1% of his fanbase breaks his boundaries (that include sending hate for him, harassing, doxing, etc. yk, basic twitter culture lol) but, honey, with your big ass fanbase, 1% is still a lot of people. As a content creator you *have* to be aware of that.

let's take the hbomb situation. First off, as a streamer, it's you that set the mood of the stream. Even if he was only messing around with his pals, even if they did say to do not send hate to hbomb, dt dunking on him created a toxic environment, which caused his fans being toxic towards hbomb and you know what happens next. Hell, when this happened, I was watching Tapl and he was watching them and he was crying laughing over them screaming bc they were just. so loud and so aggressive that it was kinda ??? Aight, there's a lot to unpack here, so Imma try to only go into the points I have something to add to (here's what I talk about in each paragraph, if you want to jump to a specific point):

The “just a dude” argument, flipped

First, I agree that one of the many factors that has resulted in the current image Dream has set up for himself, the way his fanbase functions, the ways people hate on him, and the way the Dream brand functions, is the speed of his rise to fame. It's unique, and there are probably a hundred social/psychological angles that could be used to examine the exact effects of that speed upon all of these facets of the Dream Name; did rapid fame beget the rapid rise of unrighteous hatred, did those waves of hatred then instigate the rise of a surprisingly overdefensive fanbase, did that rapid fame get to his head and/or result in an inability to appropriately handle all the after-effects of rapid fame, etc.? That point you bring up, about how the speed of his rise to fame requires him to learn even more quickly, is so interesting to me. I think that maybe Dream expected to get pretty famous pretty quickly, hence the preparedness in regards to some mechanics of influencer fame- merchandise, business-building, networking, knowing how to manage his fanbase to best benefit him. But I don't think he expected to get this famous this quickly. This is all speculation of course, as are this entire post and your ask, but I think that he just couldn't anticipate having to learn how to handle enmasse controversy, waves of antis, or every Youtuber speculating/knowing about him; and yeah, that results in him having to learn all of these things very quickly, lest he allow his whole brand and fandom to fall apart.

Second, I disagree with the frequent argument that Dream's fanbase is only marginally toxic. Personally, I think that the circumstances of Dream's fame, his personality and management of his fanbase, and his brand of content have resulted in the very specific kind of stan that Dream stans are. I don't think this is simply a case of "all fandoms have a small percentage of assholes who take it too far;" rather, the nature of the community itself breeds the kind of mentality of "an asshole who takes it too far." I only even know this because I was a Dream fan (kinda a stan, I'm ngl). At one time, I watched every single Dreamwastaken & Dream Team video multiple times; I listened to the Manhunts on repeat, as though they were podcasts; I followed mostly smiletwt and dttwt accounts on mcyttwt; I had upwards of 10 tabs for AO3 DNF fics open on my phone at a time; I watched DNF and Dream Team Being A Family-esque compilations on repeat; I watched every George and Sapnap alt stream I possibly could; I went out of my way to defend Dream against Redditors and Twitter antis regarding the cheating scandal. For the latter half of 2020, and a couple months of 2021, I lived and breathed this part of the fandom; so when I say that Dream stans are a whole other breed than any other kind of mcyttwt stan, I say that because I used to be like that, too. I usually use parasocial very loosely or ironically, but Dream stans are genuinely one of the most parasocial fanbases I have ever seen or been a part of. The level of investment Dream stans have in this man's life, the lengths they will go to to defend him, the amount of psychonalysis and digging they do on his life and character, the amount of emotion he can evoke in them- it's taken to another level, man. This isn't just characteristic of a fraction of his fanbase; this is what the fanbase is like as a whole.

Third, I partially disagree with your take on the HBomb thing, but not in the way one might think? I actually empathize with the way they reacted much more than I thought I would, simply because I suspect I have RSD (also suspect I have ADHD, have for several months now) and I can see myself getting insanely frustrated because of something like that. Like yeah, it was "just a MC stream" or "just an MC game," but that's kinda disregarding the fact that something that might seem like "just a [insert inconsequential thing]" to a rational mind might have a major emotional consequence/take a major emotional toll on someone with RSD, or really anyone who gets easily impatient/angry about video games (Sapnap reminds me of many of my friends, in that way). The issues I, personally, had with the way they handled the HBomb situation is that these are simply explanations and reasons for my empathy; they are not excuses. I have no excuse when I get irrationally angry about something inconsequential in my own life, for a couple of reasons. One, because I am an adult and I need to learn how to handle my reactions and manage my own anger. Two, because as someone with many mental problems, it is my responsibility to learn coping mechanisms to ensure my own emotional stability and livelihood; this includes learning whatever I need to handle RSD- whether that be isolating myself from others when I know I will become violently/passionately angry about something, creating and sustaining a support system that can get me through bouts of extreme emotion, finding healthy emotional outlets for my negative emotions that won't harm myself or others, or a combination thereof. I don't think what they said about HBomb post-MCC was an irreversibly horrible thing, or anything. I think there were errors committed by two men who should be fully capable of foreseeing and preventing those errors, but I don't unconditionally hate Dream or Sapnap for the post-MCC stream or comments. I just wish they had made amends quickly, publicly, and sufficiently, because the greatest consequences from the whole thing weren't even from those two criticizing HBomb themselves; they were from the waves of backlash because of their immense influence on the MCYT fandom, which could've been prevented, if they had acted maturedly and responsibly after the stream.

Fourth, you’re right, that he doesn’t seem to condone his fans’ behavior. I detest the frequent anti argument that one of the reasons Dream should be criticized is because he explicitly uses his fanbase to attack others, or something of the sort. Personally, I think he created his fanbase in a very specific way and interacts with them in such a way so as to benefit him as much as possible, yes, but he never actually tells his fanbase to go and yell at or harrass anyone. Still, there is a significant difference between not condoning something and condemning something. It might seem unfair, and it might be annoying of me to say this, but I truly think that someone with this large a fanbase, especially one as overzealous as Dream’s, needs to be condemned every single time it goes on some kind of rampage/harrassment campaign. Either that, or Dream needs to make a definitive, permanent statement against any kind of harrassment of others on his behalf. I know he’ll occassionally make the odd tweet or serious stream addressing something his fanbase did, but one of the many reasons his fanbase keeps doing the same damn thing is because he’s so lukewarm and spotty about this condemnation. A fanbase like his needs to be given explicit guidance and boundaries for the numerous things they do in his defense- harrassing/doxing antis, harrassing people who criticize him who aren’t antis (respectful criticism, other CCs, other MCYT stans, etc.), harrassing the people he critcizes (i.e., HBomb), speculating about his personal life (his relationship with his gf, his mental health/ADHD, his romantic life, his childhood, etc.), and speculating about his relationships with his friends and colleagues.  My personal ideology is that, if you have significant influence over someone or a group of people, you are at least somewhat responsible for the things those people do or don’t do, if it at all relates back to you. I’m so fucking tired of the argument that CCs aren’t responsible for what their fans do. Obviously they aren’t responsible for every single one of their fans, and obviously they can’t fully control their fans at the end of the day. But I think there are certain things that reach such a level of extremity that does make those CCs responsible. This can be measured by either scale or intensity; that is to say, if a CC’s fanbase does things on an extremely large scale, or one person from/a fraction of the fanbase does something really extreme, then the CC is made all the more responsible. Another CC I’ve always had trouble discussing with other people on this subject is Pewdiepie, in particular, about the extremists in his fanbase. Because the things a small handful of his fans have done in reference to him and/or in his name were so fucking extreme, I thought Pewdiepie had to take at least some responsibilty. Along a similar vein, because the things Dream’s general fanbase does are so widespread and on such a massive scale, Dream has to take at least some responsibility.

Fifth, okay. Hmmm. I want to tackle this point you made about the ableism he faces in some criticism of him carefully and with empathy, but not coddling. One, I do think a lot of the criticism he receives for the ways he handles criticism (post-cheating Tweets, reactions to John Swan, post-MCC HBomb stream, etc.), disregard his RSD and can be oftentimes ableist. I’ve actually encountered people irl who criticize this aspect of Dream’s character, and have had to explain to them their disregard for how ADHD/RSD affect neurodivergent people’s reactions to criticism. But - and this is a big, and very controversial but - I think mentally ill/disordered people can 100% leverage their mental illness/disorders for the sake of manipulation. This is actually something I’ve learned from a psychiatrist, regarding the ways people I know and I handle our anxiety and depression. This manipulation can be unwitting or intentional, but it is entirely possible, and the possibility shouldn’t be entirely dismissed as ableist. Living with a mental illness or disorder that others know about/that you are very public about puts you in an interesting position to receive frequent sympathy, empathy, and/or pity. I’m not saying that empathy for Dream having ADHD/RSD is entirely unjustified; on the contrary, I have frequently expressed how I can relate to his ADHD symptoms and have defended him for expressing those symptoms, both on mcytblr and in real life. I am saying that Dream fans tend to use his ADHD as a kind of shield for a lot of criticism levied against him, including the supposition that he could be manipulating his fanbase to defend him because of his public expressions of RSD. So yes, my theory is that Dream knows how to levy every aspect of his life for his personal gain and for the growth of his brand, and that includes his ADHD. I think he has courage for his openess about his ADHD, I think his openness has contributed to the rise in awareness of mental health and empathy for neurodivergent people within Gen Z, and I think at least some of his expressions of RSD publicly/online weren’t intentionally made public. All that being said, I also think he has to know just how much his fanbase cares about defending him for his ADHD, and I think he has to know that some of the things he does related to his neurodivergence endear him to his audience, in a coddling, baby-ing, mildly ableist sorta way.  Maybe this is all incredibly presumptuous of me. Of course, I can never know the real intentions behind any Dream video, Tweet, or stream. Maybe I’m just projecting, because I can see myself doing just this, if I had the maturity I had circa 2018-2019. Idfk know, man.

Sixth, I actually agree with you here, people probably do get more mad at his fanbase than him. Dream puts out content pretty seldomly, considering the frequency of content output for other Youtubers/streamers in his field/at his brand size. And yet, he has received masses of criticism. Considering that the things Dream himself does/says do not entirely correlate with the amount of criticism he receives, I think it’s a logical assumption that a lot of that criticism actually goes back to the size of his presence online, rather than the man himself. That is to say, because of the massive community he’s amassed, the exponential growth of his fanbase, their presence on every single social media site and in virtually every single Internet space/fandom, and the size of his metaphysical presence in his fields, Dream is much bigger than the man himself, so the criticism he receives will, at least in part, be a direct or indirect result of all these other aspects of the Dream brand.  Something I don’t think many Dream fans/stans, or even most MCYT fans in general, understand, is that Dream isn’t just “one guy” in the eyes of the Internet- at least, not anymore. He hasn’t been for nearly a year. Like Pewdiepie, Mr. Beast, and other CCs who have amassed similar levels of fame and wealth via Internet content creation, Dream is a brand now, and most people will treat him as such. He isn’t just some uwu soft boy playing Minecraft anymore. He is on a whole other level from any other MCYT in his friend circle or colleague interaction bubble. His words will never again live in a vaccum or private bubble, his friend circle will never again be under anything less than intense scrutiny, his past actions will never again be simple mistakes or silly errors, his words will never again be casual tweets or streams for laughs among a couple thousand followers. Dream’s name represents something much bigger than just the one man. As such, all aspects of his brand, including his fanbase, will tie back to him and, ultimately, to any general criticism of him.

I’m not saying I like any of this, and I actually think the evolution of influencers from people to a marketable brand with similar mechanisms, responsibilities, and liabilities as a corporation is some kind of late capitalism nightmare fuel; I’m just stating my own observations and theories as to why so much anti-Dream criticism seems to be directed at his fanbase, rather than him.

Seventh, he’s just a guy, you’re right, but I think a lot of the antis on Tumblr understand this more than you know. As I’ve seen it, the sentiment among much of the “DSMP stans DNI” crowd seems to be that of “Dream/other MCYTs are such ‘bad’ people, so why do their fans stick to these mediocre, racist men, when there are so many better people to watch/better content to consume?” We know this argument is flawed for many of the obvious reasons - the conflation of all MCYTs’ actions regardless of individual identity, the equating of a CC’s fanbase’s morality to that of the CC they enjoy watching, the exxageration of any error MCYT CCs have committed as bigotry/racism, the fundamental misunderstanding and misinformation that led antis to believe this exxageration of the facts, etc. But I want to focus on the general, underlying sentiment of, “why not watch someone better, when your creator is problematic?” Sometimes, I ask this of Dream stans. Yes, being mildly ignorant, getting involved in the scandals Dream has, and being a right-leaning/libertarian centrist in the recent past all seem like harmless things, all things considered. One could say Dream isn’t nearly as bad as many antis who are misinformed seem to believe, and that there are much worse CCs Dream stans could be watching and creating fan content for. But I think what Tumblr antis wonder is, aren’t there also much better MCYTs/CCs people could be watching and stanning? Because he’s just some guy, right? Is his content truly so exceptional or is he really so exceptional a person, that people have to stick by him, despite the things that spike up regarding his current or past actions? I think that’s what made me finally decide to stop watching Dream. I realized he was just Some Guy. The Dream Team was a comforting dynamic to indulge in, DNF was a cute ship to read and speculate about, and Manhunts were fun videos to watch; however, once the Reddit posts came out and I read them in-depth, the cost-benefit analysis tipped over to the “not worth it” side for me. I realized Dream’s content, while fun and comforting, was not entirely unique, and wasn’t worth sticking around for, given what I then knew about his past political leanings. If he is just Some Guy, then there are a hundred more like him out there. There a hundred more ships, a hundred more found family dynamics, a hundred more entertaining and skilled Minecraft players. So while I agree with you on the point of people being allowed to love him regardless because he is just a guy, at the end of the day, I think that, if we are to believe that sentiment or use that argument in such a manner, we should also understand the flip side- that, if he is just some guy, why is it worth sticking around? To that I say, maybe because people just enjoy the simple things they enjoy.

First time I'm writing someone and I'm so nervous and english is not my first language so I'm sorry if I made a mistake. I saw that girl talking about her bff and nearly same thing happened to me. We're bffs like 5 years and I was always there with her but she was never there for me but bc of shes my only friend I didn't wanted to leave her so I pretend like nothing happened all the time. There is nothing wrong with friendships ending! Sometimes it’s for the best! I don’t talk to any of my best friends from secondary school anymore, we were friends for seven years and I’m far far happier for it!! It gave me the chance to make new friends too and these new ones are so much better so sometimes these friendships just fall apart, no matter how long you’ve been friends for. That’s normal and not something to shy away from!

They don’t sound like they treat you very well tbh and honestly I don’t think you should hang around just because you feel like you have no other option. Someone else will come along who appreciates you the way they should!

On the topic of sexuality though, that’s entirely up to her to use which labels she feels most comfortable with. Sexuality is so fluid, I can understand her wanting to change how she identifies based on her current situation. There’s a really big conception that to call yourself a lesbian, you can only be attracted to women but I was in training recently and they told us that it’s just more of a predominant attraction to women. So again, that’s really down to whichever label she chooses to use but might explain why she dated a man? She might still be figuring things out and that’s fine!

okay so I think in part, it mostly has to do with what Diana wants to do tbh; she has them both wrapped around her finger and Lawrence and Adam know this,, Diana does too lol

but in terms of special things they do when she's spending the weekend, I really like the idea of them ordering pizza from Diana's favourite place on Saturday night and watching a few movies! she gets to stay up a liiiittle bit later since it's the weekend, and she takes full advantage of this by watching as many Disney movies as Lawrence will let her lol (and The Princess Bride in there too somewhere!!!). they don't do this Every weekend, but it's often enough to be considered somewhat of a tradition. this is also the time when she and Adam build a pillow fort out of like. four chairs, the couch cushions, numerous pillows of course, and tons of blankets, big enough for the three of them to fit inside.

it's so funny because Diana will be talking all about how she's gonna stay up late for real this time, but she's always out by the middle of the third movie,, she tries though!! usually she ends up asleep across their laps because that's where she wants to sit unless she's in the middle/leaning on one of them. if they stay in there for too long after that though then Adam falls asleep too, and Lawrence is just In There, knowing it's gonna be a bitch and a half to get up in the morning if he decides to sleep there too. most times he at least wakes them up long enough to get the three of them to bed, but there have been occasions where he looks down at Diana and then at Adam and he's just like. fuck it. floor is fine tonight.

something that happens Every weekend Diana is there tho, in the summer, is they get ice cream on Sunday before Alison picks her up!! Lawrence usually just gets vanilla, Adam typically gets a twist but will switch it up sometimes, and Diana gets smth different nearly every time they go. sometimes the three of them just sit in the car (like when it's too hot or there's too many people there) and sometimes they sit at one of those cute little tables with the umbrellas. sometimes Diana gets chicken strips instead if she wants, which she always tries to share with Adam (which he's also receptive to since like. that's one of his same foods + Diana is so sweet abt it??). it's just a nice way fr them to wind down together before she leaves.

of course sometimes there's trips to the park! Lawrence used to be reaaaally nervous if Diana was a considerable distance away from him - she was never out of his sight, and the distance thing is smth he learns to work thru bc it stems from feeling like if smth were to happen, he wouldn't be quick enough on account of his prosthetic - Adam helps with this greatly, but ultimately it's smth only he can fully work thru. but now he knows Adam will get up and kind of follow her if he asks bc 1. he likes doing it + Diana loves having him chase her around, and 2. bc it makes him feel better and Adam knows that as well, so if Lawrence needs a break (bc he Absolutely tries to play w Diana as much as he can), he knows Adam will step in. again, tht was smth that used to bug Lawrence (only because Adam could pick her up and he can't, not bc he was upset w Adam), but he gets thru that w support too.

overall it's just abt them all spending time together, and Lawrence cherishes those moments because this is his little family. it might be different to how he thought it would be + maybe the circumstances of how it came to be were gruesome, but it still produced smth beautiful that Lawrence just adores. of course Diana and Adam share those sentiments too, but fr Lawrence it's just. oof. <33

thoughts on early Eric/Adam/Lawrence:

AAAA ngl I'm always thinking abt Eric/Adam/Lawrence. I have So many thoughts!!!

I think at first it's almost a very tentative thing - not because of uncertainty on anyone's part about the three of them being together, but more in the sense that it's a relatively big change that they all need time to become acclimated to? it doesn't affect how close and tactile they are, though; during mornings in, it's not at all uncommon to find Eric still half asleep with his head on Lawrence's shoulder while he reads, Adam at Eric's back resting his own head there with his arms around his middle or on Lawrence's other side doing the exact same thing.

they still hold hands pretty much any opportunity they have, cuddle up on the couch or in bed, lean/lay on each other; things like that. there's just that added layer of We're All In Love, u know?? that's smth that takes a little getting used to, esp on Lar's end.

but one of the first times the three of them realize a noticeable difference is during one of the mornings where Lawrence is in the kitchen making pancakes for breakfast, because they're all awake and none of them have anywhere to be, and what better way to spend that free time than have breakfast together?

so Lawrence is at the stove, watching so he knows when to flip the pancake over, Adam's over near their keurig so he can make his morning cup of coffee, and Eric's at the table trying to keep his eyes open. but then he gets up and just shuffles over to Lawrence who, by the way, is the owner of the t-shirt he's currently wearing, and he presses his forehead to the back of Lar's neck and wraps his arms around his waist and just rests there. and for a moment Lawrence stiffens a little, surprised, but he relaxes almost instantly when he feels Eric press a kiss there. and it's just like. the easiest thing in the world. Adam can't help smiling when Lawrence looks over at him, still looking a little shocked but grinning just was wide, and it's moments like that where they're just like. this is perfect. this is honestly the happiest they've ever been. and after that, Lawrence is definitely more at ease because he loves them both so much and it feels natural, sharing that love. (Adam gets a photo of it that Definitely goes up on the cork board too!!)

It's little things like kissing both Adam and Eric hello when Lawrence gets home from work, Lawrence sitting next to Eric on the bathroom floor when Adam is cutting his hair for him and sometimes helping him apply ointment to his rashes, Adam laid across both their laps while he hides in a blanket on one of his bad days + knowing they've got him if he needs to drift for a while, Eric feeling comfortable confiding in Lawrence about his occasional hallucinations, the three of them going to bed together and taking turns for who's in the middle, just... living together, really, the three of them.

they're just as close, if not closer, and they are in love. Adam tears up sometimes if he thinks too hard about it, Lawrence never really saw himself in a relationship like this but not minding a single bit because he loves them, and Eric is just so so happy, happier than he thought he'd ever be. it's good because it's them, u know? and that's good enough for them.

i TOTALLY understand believe me !! i’ve done dance since i was like 2 years old and dance is a very touchy feels sport in general so somehow i was able to compartmentalize that (not to mention ✨repression✨) in a way that i never really thought much about it or was worried about what other people might think because it was just so much a part of what we did but then after high school and making new friends at college and such and finally kind of fully figuring myself out (and then being out to p much all my friends in general) i’ve definitely had those moments where i get worried about how my actions are perceived vs my straight friends actions or what they’ll think if i lean up next to them on the couch instead of sitting apart and things like that and there’s always a little worried voice in the back of my head telling me to do/not do certain things so my friends or other ppl won’t think i’m into them (and then i get mad bc i’m sure none of them have ever had to worry about that sort of thing lol) and since i’m generally not a very cuddly person either when i am there’s that little panic in my head like uh oh they’re gonna be weirded out by this because they’re gonna think ur trying to get with them even if i know that’s obviously not the case 😒 so very long winded but yes i very very much understand and i hate that part of internalized homophobia so much because you don’t even realize it’s there and then it’s like hey u sure u wanna hug ur friend like that that’s kinda gay 🥴 and then the cycle repeats... as far as advice, honestly the best i can probably give is to either (if ur comfortable) talk to people- or even just one person you’re close with/trust- about how you feel because hearing someone else validate your feelings or just listen and see things from your pov kinda eases that constant pressure many lgbtq+ folks feel on the daily in regards to things like this or (and it’s a touch harder but it gets easier bit by bit) just keep doing you and acting the way you naturally do, because at the end of the day if someone has a problem with it that’s their problem, not yours, and if that’s the case maybe try to talk it through and see where things go from there. Would you ever want EE to do a proper mental health storyline for Ben, or would you be concerned they'd make a mess of it?

I say "proper" not to dismiss everything that's already happened but more... he's obviously got a mental illness but the characters and writing don't really acknowledge it properly, it's more an unnamed Thing that causes angst and drama and is just like... oh man, there'sBen being unreasonable and crazy again! Whew he tried to kill his dad and had a breakdown but anyways!!! As fans we can say this that and the other is subtext but it would be cool to have a story where he/his family and friends - and the audience - actually have to acknowledge it as something more than Just Ben Kicking Off, Again, or Daddy Issues, Again.

i def wouldn’t be opposed to it !! i mean i’ve been saying ben has bpd since i first started watching again 2019 and i still firmly stand by that lmao and to be perfectly honest i’m not NEARLY as critical of ee’s handling of delicate storylines as a lot of ppl online like tbh i think they’ve done a decent job of all the difficult sls they’ve had recently (except chantelle/gray’s but even then (controversial opinion incoming !) i think for as much of a piece of shit gray is he’s a really interesting character and in a sick kind of way i like his scenes bc the actor is really good at playing an absolutely despicable bastard so in a weird way i get why they’d milk him for all his worth but that’s another can of beans lmao) like i think bobby’s mental health sls were handled well (apart from the fact his ocd sl kind of disappeared but that’s not an issue w the sl itself) and so far imo they’ve done a p great job w isaac’s mh sl so i’m not one of those ppl who are like ‘omg no more serious/difficult sls the show isn’t good at them !!!’

if they were to do it it’d have to be some point in the future i mean w callum’s ptsd sl basically confirmed they’d have to kind of play that out and then give it a rest for a little while so maybe in a couple of years?? and imo if they were to give ben a mental health sl they’d have to have some big trigger/episode happen to kind of bring up the issue again bc like u said it’s kind of like swept under the rug for a lot of characters as ben being ben and plus aside from in the aftermath of the boat stuff last year he’s been fairly stable since he’s been w callum so you’d need some kind of catalyst to send him off the rails again for it to become an Actual Conversation. and if callum started seeing some more professionals long term for his ptsd it would make sense for him to maybe be more likely to call out issues as he sees them?? if that makes sense ??

(as for an actual bpd sl i wouldn’t be opposed to that either i mean i feel like more ppl need to know what bpd is/what it entails just in general plus all of the ground work is literally right there and has been since ben’s childhood like imo you could not get a better diagnosis for ben than bpd but that’s just me !! but on the flip side i know a lot of ppl would probably be super critical of it a) bc of ben’s past actions/behaviours w crime and his manipulation and stuff and ppl w bpd get a bad rep for manipulation anyway but i personally am all for bad/imperfect rep plus imo it would help explain some of that behaviour and b) bpd is so kind of unknown?? niche in a way ?? and like there SO many different experiences w the same disorder that there are bound to be ppl complaining abt how it’s inaccurate or whatever ?? like i’d get why the ee team would be like ‘not worth the aggro lmao x’ but like i said imo if they WERE to go that way w ben’s character there’s no better diagnosis for him than bpd so ..... and i know you didn’t ask abt this specifically but if they were to go this way this is what i would want lmao)

the ONLY reason i'd be apprehensive is bc of audience reaction. like nbf people's reactions to ben's actions last year when he was so clearly going thru a crisis were so ugly and genuinely difficult to read as a mentally ill person and i haven't forgotten or forgiven that plus seeing how ppl are already reacting to callum actually showing symptoms of his ptsd and being Obviously Mentally Ill the exact same way and it's already tiring and UGLY like honestly ??? the majority of ppl in this fandom aren't mature enough and don't have the critical thinking skills needed for such a serious sl for ben and/or callum. they didn't during callum's struggle w him coming out (it wasn't as bad then but i promise it was still there) they didn't during ben's deafness sl/his breakdown in the aftermath of that and they are already showing that they're gonna be the same during callum's ptsd sl. and it's irking bc it's like.... ben and callum are BOTH victims of traumatic childhoods and abuse and are BOTH pretty obviously dealing with mental health issues bc of the shit they've been thru but the minute they actually show symptoms or act in a way that is clearly bc of trauma and/or mental illness it's literally like the world is ending on here n the characters are being ruined and their relationship is being ruined etc and don't even get me started on the way they talk abt these symptoms completely ignoring the fact that these are actual real life symptoms of real life illnesses that affect real life ppl..... the way ppl used to talk abt ben struggling to cope w his disability used to COMPLETELY fuck w my head as someone who used to do similar things while i struggled w my disability .... aha ....

but that's neither here nor there lmao the point is it's not the show i don't trust to do a decent job it's the audience's ability to handle it for what mental illness actually entails (aka the difficult/ugly symptoms) while not be complete dicks about it or making it abt ballum. but at the same time i wouldn't be opposed to a mental health sl for ben at all !!! i'd probably just hope it's not anytime in the next year or so and then disappear off the internet while it plays out lmao
