Beca had kissed Jesse. Jesse. A Treble (which really wasn't the worst thing). A boy. Decidedly not Chloe. Beca had kissed Jesse.
It stung, but Chloe should have seen it coming. It was a typical, rom-com-esque ending. They win. Boy gets girl. The end.
But Chloe would be leaving for the summer, going to her family's house in Portland to spend time with her younger brother after so long of barely seeing each other. Her and Jackson had always been really close before Chloe went off to college, and now she didn't always come home for even holidays, sometimes spending them with her friends instead.
She has to tell Beca.
She cant bear leaving for the entire summer--cantt bear not seeing Beca for the entire summer--without telling her how she felt. How much she longs to be near Beca, how happy she is when they're close, how her heart beats with every snarky comment from Beca's mouth.
It's selfish. It's really selfish, and she knows. Beca's in a happy budding relationship. Beca's happy, and telling her that Chloe's in love with her would just mess everything up. But Chloe Beale has never been one to suppress her emotions. She's open and she's honest with herself and others.
Chloe knows better than to expect Beca to leave Jesse for her. No, she doesn't expect that, and she's not entirely sure she wants that. She doesn't want to be the other (wo)man. She doesn't want to be the reason Beca and Jesse break up, because they're good together. They really are!
As much as Chloe longs to kiss Beca, she doesn't expect anything from her. She hopes they can continue to be friends, especially since Beca'll be Chloe's co-captain next year, but she expects Beca to be upset. Off-put, at the least. Chloe expects that Beca will put up her walls again, reverting to the closed-off girl she was at the beginning of this year.
So when she knocks on the door of Beca's dorm room, Chloe's heart has gone out of control, beating anxiously. She wipes her palms on her skirt and tries to steady her breath.
Kimmy Jin opens the door. She knows Chloe, they were partners in a Chem lab this year and she knows that Chloe and Beca are friends, so she grunts and lets Chloe inside the room.
Beca's beautiful, sitting cross-legged on her unmade bed, hunched over her laptop and no doubtedly creating another one of her amazing mashups. She looks up when Chloe enters the room, a smirk appearing on her pale face.
"Hey dude," she says, closing her laptop. "What's up?"
Kimmy Jin leaves, closing the door behind her. Chloe's grateful for the privacy.
"Um," Chloe's voice is unsteady. She's unsure, and Beca picks up on it. The brunette's head tilts to the side, her brows pulling together over stormy blue eyes. "Can we talk?"
Beca blinks. "Oh. I'm sorry, um, I was just about to get ready. I'm, uh, going to get lunch with Jesse." Guilt is evident on her face, as if she truly is sorry that she wouldn't be able to talk to Chloe right then.
What Chloe says next to so, entirely, selfish. She hates herself as soon as the words escape her mouth. "Don't go with him!" she yells, an edge to her voice as she does. She needs to tell Beca, because if she doesn't now, she won't be able to, and that's just not how Chloe Beale works.
Beca stares at her. Her eyes are wide, but there's no anger in them. Rather, as her lip curls up into a smirk, she looks amused. "Oh?" she questions. "And why shouldn't I?"
This is it. Chloe exhales loudly, her eyes finding Beca's and holding her gaze. "I like you. A lot. And I know that you're with Jesse, and I know this is, like, totally unfair of me, but I really, really..."
She trails off, because Beca pulls out her phone, looks down at it, types something.
"I... what are you doing?" Chloe questions, hurt. Beca couldn't even sit through Chloe's confession. She knows it's stupid, she knows she's being selfish and awful, but she at least expected her best friend to listen to her.
"Cancelling with Jesse," replies Beca, looking back up at Chloe.
Oh. Chloe didn't expect that. "I- Beca, I didnt mean to..." She looks down at her feet, not noticing how Beca stands and takes a step forward.
A soft hand cups Chloe's cheek, is forcing her to look into Beca's eyes. Oh. "Don't worry about it," Beca says, her voice low. There's kindness in her expression, in her action, completely different from the shock and disgust Chloe worried she would face. "Lunch was just a formality. A goodbye, I guess." She shrugs.
"A goodbye?" Chloe feels even worse now, despite the warm reaction from Beca. "No, Beca, you should go say goodbye to your boyfriend before you both leave for the summer!"
"Jesse's not my boyfriend." It's simple, it's worrying how much that one sentence pleases Chloe. Her confusion, however, does not go unnoticed, and Beca clarifies. "We decided we were better as friends."
Chloe swallows. "Oh," she mumbles, trying to push down the hope that swells in her chest.
Beca's smiling at her, hand still caressing Chloe's face. She chuckes. "Yeah, dude, oh."
And then Beca is leaning forward, and her eyes are closing, and she's kissing Chloe. Beca's lips are soft and her touch is gentle and she's kissing Chloe.
Chloe kisses her back, her hands finding their place at Beca's hips. Her heart wont stop beating ridiculously fast, but this time due to her excitement, her joy, rather than anxiety.
Beca is the first one to pull back. Her red lipstick is smudged now, but Chloe thinks she looks so, so beautiful. She grins. "You said something about liking me?"

If you had a chance to say something to Britt and Anna what would you say to them? (Either separately or together)
Okay, so I'm honestly guilty of *sometimes* fantasizing in my head what it would be like if I got to meet Britt or Anna. On my morning run, I have this scenario in my mind that I'd be in LA (I live on the other side of the world) and I'd be walking by the sidewalks, then I see Brittany. I would approach her like a normal person - a simple hello - and tell her that she's an inspiration of mine and to many others. Probably a little small talk here and there knowing her more reserved nature. I'd also tell her that her podcast saved me a lot and I hope she knows that she's helping so many people not just through her characters, but also her as a person.
I feel like Anna is the type of person you think is really chill to talk to and easy to approach, but of course I'd most likely be too stunned that I wouldn't know how to act like a human in that moment. Maybe I'd ask her something Bechloe related ("If you were to direct the Pitch Perfect movies, how would Bechloe's story go?") because she's our biggest Bechloe representative 🩵🤍

The plots I would write for Bechloe week 2024 prompts if I ever found the energy to:
Drunken Dare:
Established Bechloe, gfs, post college, mid twenties, Bella outting at a club. Beca refuses a truth asking about who the last person she had sexy type thoughts about that wasn’t Chloe or a celebrity. Chloe is there too. So Beca is obliged to complete a dare because she refused. They dare her to get a girls number at the bar. Beca annoyed and pleads for Chloe to help her get out of it but Chloe is drunk and thinks it’ll be amusing - i mean she’s Chloe and they’ve been dating for years, what’s there to worry about?- so she tells Beca it’s ok and to do it. Beca tries and Chloe’s amused watching her for a few minutes until she see’s Beca put her hand on a girls shoulder and slide it down, because woah woah woah touching wasn’t part of this deal and que very jealous & angry Chloe.
There would be some Bella dialogue trying to calm her down and debating if one of them should go over and stop it and every time Jessica or Ashley speaks they say something that they think is helpful but actually just makes it worse, (“she’s way too tall for Beca anyway Chlo’,” Ashley pauses, and Chloe thinks at least that’s true. Ashley continues, “she’s like as tall as a Victoria’s Secret model”)
Ending TBD. Maybe they fight but then Beca says the girl didn’t give her her number and her flopping makes the whole thing kind of funny so Chloe lets it go and they’re cute and whatever.
“You’re up early”
It would have to be about morning sex. Tired, slow moving, morning voice deeper and softer giggles, on the side, sun barely up, soft skin & hair, shoulder kiss from behind, morning sex.
Chloe’s the person who says it after she wakes to early sun when she feels Beca’s hands roaming around her from their spooning position.
That’s it just smut.
Reality TV
Meeting on reality tv (something fake bc idk many. Something like all female queer Bachelor in Paradise vibes but they’re all strangers and they aren’t from other Bachelor seasons. Just singles on a beach and elimination and everything else works the same).
Beca applied just because her friend made her after she lost bet and then she started getting call backs and her friends convinced her it would help her producer career so she goes.
Chloe applied because she wanted to. She’s the flirtiest person alive. She has some Bachelor in Paradise type nick name that implies she’s a flirt.
They give each other the first impression rose after barely meeting or speaking and just out of running out of options, toward end of night.
Then they’re cute and gradually start to like each other and keep giving each other the other’s rose. There’s the typical drama. Chloe’s ex shows up. Beca’s commitment issues surface.
They get engaged in end but there’s some surprise twist like Beca wakes up and the producers are telling her Chloe is gone and they can’t tell her why yet and Beca assumes she’s running but really there was a family emergency & because it was to do with a personal matter they can’t tell Beca until they hear from Chloe. After some time of Beca freaking out, Chloe reaches out so Beca is finally told what happened. She is relieved but worries and bummed Chloe *dramatic host voice* “will not be returning to paradise.” But they do a catch up in another week and follow them home and they have an engagement at Chloe’s family home.
Idk what the family emergency is but probably sick parent.
It would be really cool to some how write in some short scenes from the tv viewer’s POV.
Enemies/Rivals to lovers
A radio station does concert ticket giveaways every Friday. Chloe and Beca don’t know each other.
They each listen to the radion station regularly. Beca playing it in her car when she’s an Uber driver between university semesters & Chloe playing it in her flower shop she owns in town.
The station has lots of different genre concert tickets. Neither Beca or Chloe try to win every ticket, but they do make sure to be available to call in whenever a band either of them likes plays.
They’re both weirdly obsessive about it. Beca has to plan out her Uber pickups and drop offs just right and make sure she’s in a prime cell network spot so she doesn’t lose service.
Chloe uses her cell and the store phone to call in to double her chances. If no one else is working she locks the doors and puts the closed sign on.
For both of them it’s the rush of the competition, and thrill of winning anything for free, let alone concert tickets for one of their favorite bands.
At some point Beca gets through and is the 9th caller but she needed to be the 10th to win. Chloe ends up being the 10th caller and although Beca doesn’t know her she gets angry at this Chloe person.
Then the opposite happens and Chloe gets angry at Beca.
Another time they start to remember/recognize the others name when Beca calls in as the 4th then Chloe the 5th then Beca the 7th then Chloe the 9th but neither of them get it that time.
Even though neither one get it they’re each respectively mad at the other person, blaming that girl for messing up the other and always trying to get the same tickets as her. They’re both unknowingly the other’s self proclaimed rival.
They each end up buying tickets to that last concert anyway. Coincidentally their seats are next to each other.
They talk and chat through some parts and at some point, maybe after the opener, the other is like oh sorry didn’t introduce myself and wait what’s your name?
“Beca? You don’t by chance listen to 108.5 FM radio on Fridays do you?”
“You’re THAT Chloe!?”
So they figure out who each other are and they laugh about it and then they leave and the rest is history- they fall in love, keep calling into concerts but they don’t care who wins now bc they are in love and dating and whoever wins just takes the other with.
I can’t finish the rest of the prompts I have to go to sleep. If anyone wants to use these feel free. I’m a lil stoney bologna so if something doesn’t make sense that’s why but ya know roll with it.
Maybe I’ll finish the rest tomorrow.

Bechloe 😍
BECHLOE WAS REAL AND IM SO MAD THEY DIDNT MAKE THEM CANNON ‼️
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Beca couldn’t believe she’d agreed to this. She would’ve preferred staying in, mixing beats and finding more samples for her arrangements, but after Chloe had practically groveled at her feet to come out, Beca couldn’t bring herself to say no. She told herself she’d put her foot down for once, but when Chloe looked at her with that almost mischievous grin, Beca couldn’t bring herself to refuse her.
So, here Beca was getting ready to go to a party at some sorority house she’d never been to. She’d made Chloe promise she wouldn’t leave her to wander aimlessly through the crowds of sweaty, sticky college kids covered in beer and unknown substances. The red-head swore she wouldn’t let Beca out of her sight, but deep down Beca knew as soon as Chloe started to feel the liquor coursing through her system she would stumble away and leave Beca alone in the endless, confining space of the warm sorority house.
Even though Beca knew Chloe wouldn’t keep her word, she liked to hold out hope that Chloe would stay by her side long enough for Beca to feel that subtle, warm buzz while she inevitably waited for Chloe to return. As Beca thought about the familiar scenario and how awful she would feel without Chloe there to distract her, she began to have second thoughts. ‘Maybe I can skip out on this one…’ Beca thought, staring at the outfit that she’d decided to wear to the party. Her dark mauve shirt suddenly felt more constricting than flattering and she was now hyper aware of the necklaces dangling from her neck.
She didn’t want to disappoint Chloe by flaking at the last minute, but she’d rather deal with Chloe’s temporary disappointment than the smothering feeling of being stuck alone in a house full of stupid, drunk college kids, disaster waiting to happen.
Beca fought with the thoughts in her head, and as if on cue, her phone rang with a notification from Chloe.
Chloe: Ur still coming right?? I'm not going by myself again 😔
Beca laughed. Maybe she would go… or maybe she wouldn’t. She couldn’t make up her mind and Chloe’s unintentional guilt tripping didn’t make her come up with a decision any faster. She grabbed her phone, staring at the text bubble for a moment.
Beca: why don’t u ask Stacie? she’ll definitely go with u
Chloe’s response was almost immediate.
Chloe: Because id rather go with u
Chloe: I feel like we don’t hang out nearly as much as we should
Beca agreed, they hadn’t hung out as much as they used to. Beca didn’t know why. She’d assumed it had something to do with Chloe’s schedule. She missed Chloe, but she never said anything. It was comforting knowing that Chloe felt the same.
Beca: ur right we haven’t. I feel like ur always busy
Beca: plus every time we go out it’s always to somewhere loud and obnoxious
Beca: why can’t we hang out somewhere where we can actually have a conversation?
Beca set her phone down while she waited for Chloe’s response. She knew she wouldn’t have to wait long, Chloe was always quick to reply. She played with the silver necklace Jesse had gotten her for their first anniversary. Even though they’d broken up months ago, Beca couldn’t bring herself to get rid of it. It reminded her of the good times with Jesse and distracted her from the explosive arguments that caused their break up. A notification from her phone caught her attention before she reflected too much on her failed relationship.
Chloe: Ik I’m sorry I’ve been trying to catch up on work
Chloe: if I flunk Mr. Bradshaws class you’ll never see me again 😥
Chloe: Why don’t u like parties Beca they’re fun just give them a chance!!
Sigh. Beca loved Chloe. She really did, but she wished Chloe would just see things from her point of view without Beca having to spell it out for her.
Beca: maybe I’d like them more if u didn’t abandon me to go get drunk when u know I only go to those stupid parties for u chlo
This time, Chloe’s response didn’t come as quickly. Beca told herself it was because Chloe was really considering what Beca had told her before responding. The longer she waited the more self conscious she felt about her response. It sounded a bit mean, but Beca had been dealing with this for an entire semester and she was really getting sick of having to be dragged around by Chloe just to be abandoned. And it’s not that she disliked parties completely, but they weren’t as fun when she didn’t know anyone to bounce of off, that’s what Chloe was supposed to be there for.
………..
Chloe: I’m sorry Beca Ik u dont like them
Chloe: I just thought if I brought u to them enough you’d start to warm up to them
Beca stared at her phone, at Chloe’s message. Beca wasn’t as upset as she once was, now she felt… She didn’t know what she felt, but she knew it was a positive feeling.
Beca: it’s fine chlo I just want the two of us to hang out together… alone lol
Beca didn’t know if that sounded flirty or not. She’d added the ‘lol,’ just in case, but she wasn’t sure if that was enough. Sometimes her and Chloe flirted, but it was always innocent and never backed by anything. It was mostly Chloe doing something to Beca and Beca calling her out. Beca never really reacted because she didn’t know how to. She didn’t know if there was any truth behind Chloe’s teases. At first, she thought it was just jokes, but when someone acts a certain way towards you for so long, you start to question if they’re truly being serious.
And if Beca was being serious… she had feelings for Chloe, she had for a while now. She had no idea for how long at this point, there had sort of always been something that attracted Beca to Chloe. She had never been able to tell what, or maybe it was just Chloe’s overall positive aura that drew her in. She thought it might be Chloe’s boldness. I mean, their first real conversation was in the shower, both of them completely naked. Though Beca had been hesitant to look, she had noticed Chloe’s toned physique, something you could tell she worked for. Her core was tight and toned with an aquamarine-encrusted belly button ring.
Her boobs were perky and Beca could tell she’d recently tanned, it was even and bronze and it complemented the color of her hair so well. Or when she had always tried to stick up for Beca to Audrey, though it constantly fell on deaf ears. There was just something about Chloe that drew Beca in and the feeling had always been there, but now that Jesse was out of the picture, she was finally free to explore her attraction.
It’s not like she was just choosing to believe her delusions, either. Chloe had always acted especially friendly towards Beca. She loved to drop hints towards Beca that she wanted to “experiment” or that she “hadn’t experimented enough.” Beca had a feeling she knew what Chloe meant, but did she mean with her? Beca wasn’t sure. Chloe also loved to grope her. At first, she had been hesitant to be that comfortable with someone, but after Chloe had successfully broken Beca's walls, she began to allow the touches, even started to expect them. She could feel a tinge of concern in her stomach when Chloe didn’t touch her in some way.
She felt comfortable in Chloe’s touch. By her supple, tropical-scented hand lotion, or her matching perfume that made her smell like the freshest fruits. Her gold earrings or her wavy strawberry hair. Everything about her was comforting. Beca had never really felt that with any of her previous friends, only with Chloe. It was a new feeling, she didn’t know whether it was a welcome feeling or not.
Beca was brought from her self reflective ramblings by her phone dinging with a notification.
Chloe: Oh so u want alone time together 😏
There was Chloe’s usual flirting. Usually Beca would try to diffuse a situation like this, but for some reason she wanted to lean into it. She wanted to see how far this flirting would get her. Maybe she could convince Chloe to come over and miss the party. They could watch movies, talk, Beca might even confess her somewhat confusing feelings to her. They might even…
Beca didn’t want to get ahead of herself, so for now she decided to test the waters.
Beca: maybe I do 🥱
Beca: u might see if u skip this party and come over 🖤
Beca hadn’t realized how incredibly suggestive that sounded until she sent it, but she didn’t want to unsend it either. She wanted to see what Chloe would say, so she waited with baited breath as Chloe swiftly sent a reply.
Chloe: Are u trying to coerce me Beca 😨
Beca: idk is it working?
Chloe: tbh yeah 👀
Beca: then yes I am
Beca liked where this conversation was headed. She almost wanted to hit herself for not flirting back sooner. If she had, this might have already been a regular thing for her and Chloe. But this new feeling was invigorating and thrilling.
Chloe: Do u really want me to come over?
Chloe: Cause I will
Beca swallowed hard as she read those texts. She did want Chloe to come over, but what would that entail? By the tone of this conversation, they’d most likely take their relationship to a new level. Did Beca want that? Or more so, was she ready for that?
Beca closed her eyes as she imagined making love to Chloe. Her smooth glossed lips leaving cherry-colored kisses all over Beca’s skin. Feeling her warm, lotioned hands beneath her shirt, beneath her bra. Beca clenched her legs at the thought of it, she started to feel really hot all of a sudden but she didn’t want to keep Chloe waiting, so she responded as quickly as she could.
Beca: yeah I do
Beca: I’m tired of parties haha
Beca waited for Chloe’s reply. She could feel herself getting more excited by the second. Kimmy Jin was gone, so they were free to do whatever they wanted without an audience.
Chloe: Ok I’ll be right over
Wow, this was much more simple than Beca thought it would be. She should’ve done this sooner. As she set her phone down, she looked in the mirror. She was still wearing her outfit for the party. Should she change? Beca thought over it for a moment, she’d spent so long getting ready, might as well let someone see it.
Beca laid back, waiting for Chloe to knock on her door. She wasn’t too far, so she wouldn’t take long. Beca was equal parts nerves and excitement. She’d finally be able to tell Chloe how she felt. It was something she almost wanted to celebrate. Maybe with some alcohol to give her the liquid courage she needed.
A couple minutes later, there was a light few knocks on her dorm door. She hopped up, almost embarrassingly quick, and made her way to the door, making sure to fix her hair before opening it. When she opened the door, she was greeted by one of her favorite sights.
Chloe stood there in a dark blue tank top with an even darker colored cropped jacket, it was unzipped to reveal Chloe’s cleavage that was decorated with a golden necklace with a pearl in the middle. She had flared dark blue jeans and heeled boots on. Her winged eyeliner was more dramatic and smudged than usual and she had a dark stain on her lips, it was almost impossible not to stare. It all contrasted her bright hair and made everything mesh together cohesively. She looked amazing as always. Beca tried to make sure her awe wasn’t obvious, giving the red-head a quick once over before focusing on her face again. It was adorned with a bright smile, as usual.
The familiar scent of papaya and coconut wafted towards Beca as Chloe immediately pulled her into a hug. Beca embraced it, more than usual. She snuggled into Chloe’s shoulder more, wrapped her arms around her waist a little tighter, held her hands a little lower…
Beca pulled away, hesitantly at first. She looked at Chloe who seemed chipper as normal, despite her more intense makeup. She obviously eyed Beca up and down as she welcomed her into the dorm. Beca felt both hot and anxious under Chloe’s blatant stare. Though her gaze didn’t last long, the effect it had on Beca did.
“You’re lucky I love you, Bec,” Chloe joked as she casually sat on Beca’s bed. The bed she’d been sure to make before Chloe came. Beca couldn’t help but notice how alluring Chloe looked sitting with her legs crossed like that, in her flared jeans with that dark makeup, looking at Beca so playfully, like she knew where this night would eventually lead. Beca walked towards her, trying not to make the anxious desire rushing through her detectable.
“I know. I must be pretty important for that,” Beca said, sitting beside Chloe on the bed, once again being greeted by her fruity smelling perfume, a scent she never got tired of. Chloe smiled at her before replying.
“You are… plus, I felt bad for alway dragging you out and then leaving you,” Chloe admitted, her confident, laid back attitude partially being interrupted by genuine regret. Beca had already mostly forgiven Chloe for that, but now with her right in front of her, looking at her with that remorseful look in her eyes, all Beca’s anger seemed to melt away.
“It’s ok. I’m just glad I actually get to talk to you now. I feel like I haven’t seen you in forever,” Beca replied, nervously fidgeting with the layers of bracelets dangling from her wrist. She couldn’t look at Chloe when she had that look in her eyes. It made Beca want to act reckless and there was no room for mistakes tonight. Beca had decided that tonight was the night she would confess her feelings.
“I know, me too, but I’m here now,” Chloe replied. Beca could feel Chloe’s gaze pouring into her and it just made her face feel hotter than it already was. She could feel her lips curling into a nervous smile.
“Yeah, you are. It was easier to get you here than I thought it’d be,” Beca giggled, finally looking up to see Chloe’s smile. It made Beca’s heart speed up, she could feel the rhythmic thumping against her chest, she was almost certain Chloe could hear it, too. Chloe had somehow pulled a bottle of wine from her bag and had already begun opening it. Beca alternated her stare between the bottle and Chloe, she shouldn’t have been surprised but she was. Chloe laughed to herself as she finally got the lid off.
“Did you think it’d be hard or something?” Chloe laughed, taking a sizeable swig from the bottle before passing it to Beca. She wrestled with whether to accept it or not. The liquid courage would help her as long as she didn’t get too drunk. She grabbed the bottle and took a smaller sip than Chloe before handing it back to her.
“I mean, yeah kinda. You don’t like missing parties, Chlo,” Beca said, sitting back against the wall with Chloe soon following suit. Now, they were even closer and Beca could smell the wine beginning to mix with Chloe’s tropical scent. Chloe’s hair fell in framing cascades around her face, the strawberry locks were as soft as fresh linen. Beca wanted nothing more than to run her fingers through it.
“I don’t mind missing a few parties for you, Beca. You know that,” Chloe reiterated, taking another sip of wine and passing it to Beca again. She took it with less hesitation the second time. Beca could tell Chloe was beginning to feel its effects and she wouldn’t let herself fall behind her. Beca was starting to feel herself become more at ease, her shoulders were falling and she could actually make eye contact with Chloe now. She looked as radiant as ever, the alcohol was working to make Beca even more smitten with her best friend. There was a subtle blush to her tan skin, courtesy of the alcohol. With the way the wine was taking effect already, Beca could tell Chloe had pregamed before coming.
“Do I?” Beca joked, eyeing Chloe with a teasing glint in her eyes. Chloe giggled as she put her head down. Beca could see Chloe’s shoulders rise and fall with laughter. When Chloe put her head up, her eyes were sparkly and the red-tinted lip gloss that coated her lips bounced off the lights.
“I know I didn’t make that clear before,” Chloe started, averting Beca’s gaze while turning more red, “but it’s true.” Chloe finished, looking at the brunette with a newfound intensity.
“Well, thanks, Chlo,” Beca responded. She suddenly felt awkward with Chloe so close to her. She wanted a swig of the wine in Chloe’s hand. As Beca reached over for the wine, Chloe pulled it from her grasp. Now, they were closer than ever. Beca could feel the heat between them and Chloe’s eyes made Beca feel… something.
“There’s not much left,” Chloe said, her voice was deep and quiet, maybe because Beca was so close, but that tone of voice didn’t help Beca’s warm face. Beca finally decided it was time to back up, away from that comforting scent. Chloe looked disappointed for a moment, but it was gone as fast as it came.
“D-did you want the last sip or something?” Beca asked, she cursed quietly to herself for stuttering. Chloe’s smile returned as bright as ever. She was clearly enjoying this more than Beca.
“No, you can have it,” Chloe responded, passing the near empty bottle to Beca. She took it, but not without their fingers brushing against each other. Even with that short contact, Beca could already feel the smooth surface of Chloe’s hand.
“If I could have it, why’d you pull it away the first time?” Beca asked, finishing the bottle before setting it on the floor. At some point, Chloe had laid down and put her legs out, covering Beca’s legs with hers. It made Beca suddenly feel a bit better about confessing, clearly Chloe was even more flirty than she was.
Beca knew now was her chance to confess or she’d lose all the courage she’d built up. As the two had a stare down, Beca crept her way up Chloe’s leg, resting just beneath her knee. Chloe tried to make her smile inconspicuous, but Beca could see the corner of her lips curl up.
“I don’t know, I just felt like it,” Chloe teased, eyeing Beca’s hand on her leg before staring at Beca again, taking a detour to gaze at Beca’s lips. Beca scooted closer, careful to make sure Chloe didn’t notice. There was a break of silence between them. Beca supposed she should take advantage of the silence, but the nerves were still holding her back. Chloe had gotten on her phone at this point, giggling at something or someone.
Beca needed to just come out and say it before it ate her alive. “Chlo, I have something to tell you,” Beca started, ignoring the shakiness in her voice. Chloe looked up from her phone immediately like she was waiting for Beca to say something. Chloe set her phone down beside her before sitting up and staring at Beca with intense curiosity. Beca missed the warmth, but this was far more important than that.
“Uhm, the reason I wanted you to come over wasn’t just because I was tired of you leaving me at parties, even though that was annoying,” Beca stated, fidgeting with her hands again to distract herself.
“We haven’t really seen each other lately and I missed you,” Beca continued, she was trying to find the words needed to ease into this, but she couldn’t help but stall. Chloe smiled at Beca’s nervous exterior, she wasn’t really used to seeing Beca’s bashful side… she liked it.
“Aw, I missed you too, Beca,” Chloe responded, waiting for the brunette to continue. She wasn’t trying to rush her, which Beca appreciated, but it meant Beca had to push herself to come out with what she wanted to say.
“Thanks. Uhm… since we haven’t been hanging out as much I’ve been thinking,” Beca almost whispered. Chloe moved closer, simultaneously comforting Beca and making her more nervous.
“About?” Chloe asked, waiting for Beca to finish. There was an anticipating glow in her eyes. Chloe could tell where this was going from the moment she walked in, she just needed Beca to get the courage to say it.
“Us… like, our relationship. Since me and Jesse broke up, it’s made me realize things about myself,” Beca said, finally looking up from her shaky hands to stare at Chloe, her gaze as intense as ever.
“What about our relationship, Beca?” Chloe inquired with a smirk. This was starting to become harder by the minute. Beca knew she should stop beating around the bush, but Chloe didn’t make it easier with her penetrating gaze. She decided it’d just be easier to show Chloe rather than tell her.
Beca stared at Chloe for a moment, unsure. She’d just suddenly stopped talking and she could tell Chloe was starting to get concerned.
“Beca, are you o-“ Chloe started, but before she could finish, Beca bit the bullet and kissed her. Her lips were as soft as Beca imagined and the wine on her tongue made their kiss taste sweet. Chloe melted into the kiss easily, moaning into Beca’s mouth. Beca crawled towards Chloe, holding her back against her. Chloe’s hand was already in Beca’s hair, grazing around her scalp. Her lip gloss was smearing against Beca’s lips, but she couldn’t care less.
Beca’s hand gripped Chloe’s shoulder, pulling her jacket off to expose her freckle-covered shoulder. Beca let out a moan as Chloe spread her legs and pulled her between them. They feel against Beca’s pillows with a thud. Beca pulled away and Chloe was already giggling in the midst of trying to catch her breath.
“Beca… I-I don’t know what to say,” Chloe whispered, pulling Beca closer to her. Beca’s chest was falling and rising in quick succession. She didn’t even know she had that in her. She’d never planned to ambush Chloe with a kiss, but it just seemed easier than stumbling through a confession that could never properly convey her feelings for Chloe anyway. Plus, she finally got to kiss her best friend and that was worth every bit of awkward tension.
Beca gazed down at Chloe. Her breasts were glistening under the light as she caught her breath. Her eyes still had the playful glow that Beca loved so much and her once perfectly glossed lips had smudged and transferred to Beca’s.
“I didn’t either. That’s why I had to show you,” the brunette confessed. She was shocked at herself, but Chloe didn’t seem to be. She acted as if she had expected this at some point. Her smile was so captivating, it made Beca feel like she was on cloud nine each time she caught a glimpse of it.
“I was hoping you would,” Chloe whispered, propping herself on her elbows to give Beca another kiss. It was still as passionate as the last, but much more tender, like they had all the time in the world. Her lips were so soft against Beca’s, it made her want to melt against the redhead. Chloe moaned when Beca’s hand found her way onto her scalp, gently pulling at the silky strands. Chloe wrapped a leg around her, the rough feeling of the jeans grazing Beca’s hip as her shirt lifted slightly. She shouldn’t have been surprised that Chloe was a good kisser, but her imagination truly hadn’t captured the feeling of this moment. All the tension, flirty jokes, times Chloe’s hands had stayed on her for too long finally made sense. Chloe pulled Beca closer, arching into her touch as Beca gripped her hips tightly.
Chloe’s hand traveled to Beca’s shirt, pulling at the bottom as her nails grazed her skin. Before Beca could assist Chloe with her shirt, the door began to twist and rattle. Kimmy Jin. They both looked at each other for a split second before separating. Chloe sat up right and Kimmy Jin came in with her friends, looking at them with disdain, as usual.
“The white girl and her friend are here,” Kimmy Jin said in her permanently monotone voice. Beca stared at Chloe, Chloe stared at Beca, and all Kimmy Jin’s friends stared at them before sitting on Kimmy’s side of the room and starting up some game. Beca really wished she had a single room right about now. Chloe giggled to herself before leaning over to Beca, her lips grazing her neck. Beca tensed, this was reckless.
“My roommate will be out tonight if you wanna come over,” the red-head whispered flirtatiously. She knew Beca wouldn’t refuse her, she didn’t have the strength. She never had. Beca just nodded as she watched Kimmy Jin’s friends closely to make sure they wouldn’t be caught. Chloe looked over at the group for a moment, before turning Beca’s face to hers and leaving a chaste, teasing kiss to her lips. Beca wished it could go on forever, but Chloe got up, grabbed the now empty bottle and headed towards the door with a wave and a wink. Beca smiled and waved back. As she left, Beca fell against her bed, put her headphones on, and waited for nightfall when she could finally show Chloe just how deep her feelings went.
Bechloe Week Day 8: "Why didn't you say anything?" "You needed me to be okay."
Words: 3314
Notes: You can't give me a prompt like that and expect me not to write a bunch of angst. I also can't resist using a zombie au any chance I get, so naturally that setting is involved too.
This was the first one I wrote for Bechloe week this year and it was the one I was most excited about, but I feel like I might have ruined it by getting too in depth witht he universe. I dunno, I feel like I liked it better when it was in my head.
Read on AO3
Chloe opened her eyes with a groan, her hand coming up to gingerly touch the back of her head that had hit the ground moments ago.
“Are you okay?” Beca asked, looking up from where she’d been staring at her hand, flexing it and wincing slightly.
“Yeah,” Chloe said. “Yeah, I think so. Jesus, it just came out of nowhere, did you get it?”
Beca nodded, gesturing to the creature at her feet that gave it’s last dying twitch.
She pulled the blue and yellow bandanna that had been tied around her wrist and began wapping it tightly around her hand.
“Are you okay?” Chloe asked, wincing as she touched her head again. “What happened?”
“My gun backfired,” Beca said, “it hurts like a bitch. Can you stand?”
“I think so,” Chloe said, holding out a hand so Beca could pull her to her feet. There was a spike of pain as soon as she put weight on it, but she bit down hard on her lip and swallowed the yelp that threatened to come out. She figured she must have twisted it when she was knocked off her feet.
“You good?” Beca asked. “Your head’s okay?”
“I’m fine,” Chloe said. “But it’ll be getting dark soon, I think we should find somewhere to hide out for the night.”
Chloe hated the dark at the best of times, but being out of the safety of their home like this was another thing entirely. They were completely out in the open. Completely exposed. It made Chloe shiver just to think about it. She also wasn’t sure how fast she’d be able to walk on this ankle, and she didn’t want to slow them down if they ended up needing to run.
“We’re only a few hours away from home,” Beca said, looking down at her watch. “We should keep moving.”
“Okay,” Chloe said, trusting that Beca knew what she was doing. She’d never lead them astray before, and Chloe knew she wouldn’t this time.
They walked in relative silence for hours. Both on high-alert, guns at the ready, ears straining for any sound that didn’t come from them.
The pain throbbing in Chloe’s ankle meant she didn’t notice Beca constantly checking her watch. She was too focused on putting one foot in front of the other to see the sheen of sweat on Beca’s head, or the way that her pace was beginning to slow.
“You’re limping,” Beca said. She sounded tired, but Chloe knew that she probably was. They were both tired, both hot, both scared.
“I’m fine,” Chloe replied.
Beca checked her watch and sighed. “Would you be able to run if you needed to?” She asked.
“Of course,” Chloe replied.
“Please don’t lie to me,” Beca said.
Chloe looked across at her. “I can run on my ankle,” she said. “It hurts like hell, but I can run on it.”
Beca nodded. “Good.”
“Can you shoot with that hand?” Chloe asked.
Beca looked down at it. Blood had soaked through the bandage, dark lines had begun creeping up her wrist.
“I can try,” she said, trying to wiggle her fingers but finding herself unable to. She let her hand drop to her side, hoping Chloe hadn’t noticed.
She would need her gun anymore soon anyway.
They kept walking until they were finally in sight of the small compound where they lived, and Chloe felt herself relax. She’d be home soon. They’d both be home soon. Aubrey could check out her ankle, and Beca’s hand, and they’d get patched up and everything would be fine.
They were near enough to the fence now that the guard dogs had noticed their approach. They came bounding up to the fence, and Chloe smiled in anticipation of their happy barks and wagging tails. They were always so pleased to see her.
As soon as they caught their scent, the dogs began growling, their hackles raised and teeth bared.
Chloe frowned. “Weird,” she said. “What do you think’s gotten into them?” She asked, turning to look at Beca.
Beca looked worse. Much worse. She was scarily pale, her eyes bloodshot, the veins beneath her skin becoming more prominent.
A cold shiver ran up Chloe’s back, and she swallowed hard.
“Beca?”
“I love you, Chloe,” Beca said, her voice on the verge of slurring. “You know that right?”
“Beca, what happened?”
“P-please say it back,” Beca said. “I n-need to hear it one last time.”
“You’re scaring me,” Chloe said, eyes filling with tears. “Baby, please tell me what’s going on?”
Beca shook her head, and she took a stumbling step backwards, away from Chloe. “Y-you should go ahead,” she said. She sounded so different that if Chloe hadn’t been watching her say the words, she would have thought it was someone else. It was as if each word was a struggle. As if she was having to pull them from somewhere. From something that wanted to take them away. “Go. Run. Don’t look b-back.”
Chloe’s heart was racing now as she grabbed hold of Beca’s hand and pulled the bloody bandana away.
She saw a bite, a perfect crescent of teeth marks, and her whole world ended.
“No,” she said, her voice a little over a whisper. “No!”
“Y-you n-need to leave,” Beca said. “R-run.”
Blood had started to drip from her nose, but her hands were shaking too much to wipe it away.
The dogs were going crazy now. Their barking bordering on frenzied as they climbed over each other, desperate to break free from the fence and kill this creature that threatened them.
“Why… Why didn’t you say anything?” Chloe said, tears spilling down her cheeks.
Beca looked at her, and now the blood was dripping from her ears. Red tears ran down her cheeks.
The blue eyes Chloe had fallen in love with were almost gone. Soon they’d be the same milky white as all the other monsters out there.
“You n-needed me to b-be okay,” Beca said. “And I n-needed to get you home.” Beca’s knees gave way as the infection began taking over her motor functions. It was spreading through her like a fire. It lit up each of her nerve endings causing pain she’d never experienced before, burning through every vein and artery that held her together. Deep within her she felt something different.
A hunger.
A primal, feral, hunger.
“I still need you to be okay,” Chloe sobbed, dropping to her knees beside Beca. “I can’t do this without you, I love you!”
“R-run,” Beca managed to choke out, her mouth beginning to open and close as if she had no choice in it. She was so hungry. “Get. Away. From. Me.” Her voice was more like a growl now. She had never been this hungry. She had never smelt anything so good. God, she wanted to eat this thing in front of her. She wanted to eat it so bad, and it wasn’t making any effort to run away.
“Chloe!” A voice boomed from behind them. “Get away from it!”
Beca’s head snapped towards the sound of the voice.
“Chloe!” The voice said again. It was Aubrey’s voice, Chloe realised, and she turned to see her standing a few feet away, her gun pointed at Beca.
Or the thing that had been Beca.
It let out a growl and lunged for Chloe, its jaw clenching and unclenching, mouth opening and closing as it fought for a bite - a taste - of Chloe.
Before it could sink its teeth into her neck, a shot rang out, and the dead weight of what had once been Chloe’s girlfriend slumped on top of her.
Chloe isn’t sure what happened next, but over the weeks and months that followed, Aubrey filled her in.
Other people had run through the gate to see what had caused the commotion, and they saw one of their own lying on their back with a bullet hole in their head. Pale eyes staring up at a sky they couldn’t see.
The dogs were no longer barking but howling, mournfully so, but they still didn’t drown out the noise coming from Chloe.
Aubrey, with help from Stacie, had half-carried her back through the compound while she desperately fought them to be able to return to Beca’s side.
“She’s dead,” Aubrey had said, struggling to keep her grip on Chloe’s arm. “She’s gone, Chloe. You need to calm down or you’re going to get yourself shot.”
“So shoot me,” Chloe had sobbed, the fight in her finally dying as she sank to her knees. “I don’t want to do this without her.”
Aubrey didn’t respond to that, and she and Stacie managed to get her into the infirmary. She didn’t fight them while they checked her for bites, and when Aubrey lightly prodded her now very swollen ankle she didn’t flinch.
Stacie took the padded cuffs that were attached to the bed and began fastening them around Chloe’s wrists, apologising as she did. Chloe didn’t acknowledge her.
“Do we need to do this?” Aubrey asked, wiping away the tears that she had finally allowed herself to shed.
“You know the rules,” Stacie said. “Twelve hours under surveillance, just in case.”
“Aubrey, Stacie,” Flo had burst into the infirmary, out of breath and in a panic. “They’re going to throw Beca in the pit.”
This got Chloe’s attention.
“No,” she said, tugging at her restraints now. “No, you can’t let them!”
“Are you armed?” Aubrey asked Flo.
“Always,” Flo said, lifting her shirt to reveal the gun tucked in her waistband.
“Watch Chloe,” Aubrey said. “Come on, Stacie.”
The pair ran back out of the infirmary and towards the compound gates where a crowd was still gathering.
“Put her down!” Stacie yelled as they broke through and reached the place where Beca had died.
“Bosses orders,” Bumper said, his hands tucked underneath Beca’s arms as he lifted her up. “Can’t leave it out here it’ll just attract more of them, it goes in the pit.”
“That’s Beca you’re talking about,” Aubrey said. “She’s one of us.”
“Was Beca,” he said. “Was one of us. Now it’s just another dead idiot, stupid enough to get bitt-”
He was cut off by Stacie’s fist connecting with his jaw, and he staggered back, dropping Beca to the ground.
Guns were drawn in seconds.
“She gets a funeral,” Aubrey said. “How many times did she save your sorry ass when we were all out there?”
“Doesn’t matter,” Bumper said. “Rules are rules.”
“You didn’t say that when it was Amy,” Stacie said, taking a step closer, her gun raised higher as she stepped protectively in front of Beca.
“Don’t,” he said, arms shaking as he pointed his own gun at her. “That was different. She took herself out before she turned. She did what you’re supposed to do. That… thing you’re protecting was a coward.”
“Not another word,” Stacie said. “Or I swear to god, Bumper I will shoot you where you fucking stand.”
“I think that’s quite enough,” a voice said from behind them. They turned and saw Gail, the leader of their compound, walking towards them.
“Please,” Aubrey said to her, lowering her gun. “She should have a funeral. Chloe needs to be able to say goodbye.”
“No,” Gail said, simply. “I’m sure you’re an excellent shot, Aubrey, but the only real way to make sure these things stay dead is to burn them and do it quickly.”
“But… the pit? She deserves better than the pit.”
Gail shrugged. “I don’t know that it deserves anything. It isn’t Beca anymore, it’s a dead host. A husk. Have a funeral if you need to, but it won’t be with a body.”
“Then let us take her,” Stacie said. “Her family. If she’s going to be taken to the pit, it should be done by people who loved her.”
Bumper scoffed. “Fine by me.”
“As long as it’s done tonight, I don’t care who does it,” Gail said. “And if any of you ever cause a scene like this again, you’ll be out of here, mark my words.” She turned and left, and Bumper followed, barging into Stacie’s shoulder as he stormed past.
The crowd began to follow, until just Aubrey and Stacie were left.
“Are we actually taking her to the pit?” Aubrey asked.
“Fuck no,” Stacie said.
The pit was exactly as horrible as it sounded.
A pit in the ground where bodies of creatures were dumped and burned.
It was a way of lighting big fires that attracted minimal attention and it served as a trap to other creatures. They would consume their own if they needed, and a dead creature would often attract others to come feed on it. This way, when they came to investigate the smell, they would end up in the pit themselves, becoming trapped on the charred and jagged bones beneath them. Once a day the pit was checked, and any that had fallen in would be burned too.
It was a useful place, but it was a place that none of them had ever wanted to end up.
It was hard enough throwing in the anonymous dead creatures that occasionally stumbled across their compound, but when it was one of their own?
Neither of them could imagine throwing Beca’s body down there, watching it land amongst the blackened bones before it eventually joined them.
Stacie picked up the backpack of firewood, matches, and kindling that Bumper had left and she put it on.
“Get her legs,” Stacie said, her hands hooking under Beca’s arms.
“Hands behind her head,” Aubrey said.
“I know how to do it,” Stacie replied, adjusting so her elbows went under Beca’s arms, and her hands interlocked against the back of Beca’s skull. That way, if Aubrey hadn’t hit her in the right spot and she came back, she wouldn’t be able to bite Stacie as easily. “Get her legs,” Stacie said again.
Aubrey did as she was told, and the pair carried her away from the main area of the compound and towards the pit.
Rather than throwing her in however, they kept walking until they were out of sight of the compound, far enough away that no one would stumble upon her bones when they were done.
“Here looks good,” Stacie said, and they gently lay Beca down.
“If Gail finds out, we’re done for,” Aubrey said.
“I know,” Stacie replied.
Using the wood in the backpack, and whatever they could salvage from the pit, they built a small wooden pyre.
They worked in silence until it was done, one of them always watching the other’s back, gun’s at the ready.
When the fire was lit, they took a step back.
“Why… Why did she wait so long?” Aubrey asked Stacie as they watched their old friend disappear behind a wall of fire and smoke. “She always said… We’ve all always said that if we got bit, we wouldn’t wait and turn. There were bullets in her gun. In Chloe’s gun. Why did she wait?”
The decision to shoot had been an instinct for Aubrey. She didn’t know who she was shooting at. She had heard the dogs, had seen Chloe sobbing on the ground, and then had seen the creature lunge for her. She didn’t know it was Beca until after.
“Because Chloe wouldn’t have made it back if Beca had died,” Stacie said, her own jaw clenched as she tried her best not to cry.
“Chloe’s incredibly capable out there. She sprained her ankle, but she would have-”
“That isn’t what I meant,” Stacie said, cutting her off. “They were in love, ‘Bree. Do you think Chloe would have been able to get home after seeing Beca die? Do you think she’d have been able to stand, and walk however many hours they were away without falling apart?”
“I don’t know,” Aubrey said with a sigh, wiping away the tears on her cheeks.
“I’m not saying Chloe isn’t capable,” Stacie said. “I’m not saying she needed Beca to get her home. I’m saying when you lose the person you love… I think she’d have given up. And I think Beca would have done the same if Chloe had been the one to die.”
“I wish this hadn’t happened,” Aubrey said. “I wish she was still here. And I wish… I wish it wasn’t me who shot her.”
“You saved Chloe’s life,” Stacie said. “It wasn’t Beca anymore.”
“Well, Chloe might not thank me for that,” Aubrey said.
“Maybe not,” Stacie countered. “But just because she wants to die, doesn’t mean we have to let her.”
Aubrey’s hand found Stacie’s and she squeezed.
“If I die, you aren’t allowed to give up,” Aubrey said. “You aren’t allowed to follow me.”
Stacie squeezed her hand back. “You can’t boss me around from beyond the grave, Posen.”
They let out a small laugh, which died quickly as the fire before them crackled.
It had begun to die out. Soon there would be nothing left of the thing that had been Beca Mitchell.
“It’s getting dark,” Stacie said. “We should head back, this fire won’t be enough to keep them back, soon.”
“Yeah,” Aubrey said, wiping her eyes. “Goodbye, Beca. I’m… I’m sorry. I’m so sorry this happened to you.”
They walked back to the compound in silence, the smell of smoke clinging to their clothes.
If they turned back to look, they’d have seen the silhouettes of the creatures begin shambling towards the dying embers of the fire, looking to see if there was anything left for them.
As they reached the gate,  the dogs began running up to sniff at them through the chain link fence.
The dogs’ tails wagged happily, and Aubrey and Stacie were allowed entry into the town.
Chloe was as curled on her side as she was able to be when they made it back to the infirmary.
“You did it,” Chloe said, not turning to look at them when they entered the room. “I can smell it on you.”
Aubrey looked around before she spoke. “Not the pit,” she said, quietly. “I promise.”
Chloe sniffed and nodded. “Thank you.”
“I can take over from here Flo,” Aubrey said.
“Actually I’d rather you didn’t,” Chloe said, her voice hollow. “I’m sure in a few days I’ll thank you for saving my life, but right now I can’t even look at you.”
“Chloe, that isn’t fair,” Stacie said.
“No,” Chloe replied. “Nothing about this is fucking fair.”
“What was I supposed to do, Chloe? Let her bite you?”
“Maybe,” Chloe said. “At least we’d have been together then.”
“One lover consuming another like that, it isn’t as romantic as you think,” Flo said. Chloe looked at her. They all remembered the story of her parents, and how she’d ended up coming to the compound alone. “Beca did what she did to save you, right? She could have saved herself some pain, and ended it before she turned, but she wanted to get you home safe. It would be a cruel way to repay her by throwing your life away like that.”
Chloe swallowed and tears spilled down her cheeks again. “I miss her,” she said, her voice wobbling. “I’m sorry, ‘Bree.”
“I know,” Aubrey said. “I’m sorry too.”
“I don’t know how to do this without her,” she said. “I don’t think I want to do this without her.”
“She wouldn’t want you to give up,” Stacie said. “So you have to try. You have to let us help you try.”
Chloe nodded, and tried to wipe her eyes, but the cuffs wouldn’t stretch that far.
“How many hours until I can get out of these?”
Aubrey checked her watch. “About eight.”
“Will you be here when they come off?” Chloe asked. Aubrey nodded and took a seat at her bedside. “Good. I’m really going to need a hug.”
The Adviser (28/45) | Bechloe Mafia AU
Chapter preview - read the rest at ao3
Most of the drive was spent in comfortable silence, though Beca couldn't help but feel a sort of palpable tension in the air. For the good of the mission or not, they had crossed the Rubricon. There was no turning back from that. There was no fooling her heart about how it felt when they shared that kiss, or the thoughts of "maybes" and "what ifs" that briefly entered Beca's mind that moment.
It was Chloe who first broke the silence, keeping things focused on the business at hand. "Do you think she's arresting Chicago now?"
Beca hummed thoughtfully. "Probably. It all depends on how fast Kimmy Jin can mobilize her people, or if they were already on call for something like this. Stacie and Uni found a gold mine of info, so it might take time sifting through all of it. I suppose we'd know more in the coming days. There's no way an arrest or a major move from the prosecution against Babel wouldn't make headlines. I'd say a press conference in the coming days would be made for the official charges they're pressing, once they've sorted all the paper works."
Chloe nodded. "Good, but then I guess we have a few quiet days to deal with ourselves, huh?" she absentmindedly said just as the familiar sights of the Barden Tower came into view.
Beca pulled up to a side street parking. She studied Chloe's face for a minute, wondering what it was that she could be thinking about. There was something there, some kind of lingering sentiment, that Beca couldn't place a finger on.
"Guess we're here," Chloe noted, looking back at Beca expectantly.
"Mhmm," Beca agreed with a nod. "Welcome home… darling," she said with a teasing tone before leaning towards Chloe's seat, this in turn brought her face close to Chloe's. Beca chuckled lightly, watching Chloe's expression flash a brief look of panic, uncertainty, and then nervousness. The rather very visible gulp didn't escape Beca's attention either, it was hard not to notice when her eyes briefly looked down on Chloe's lips.
What am I doing? Beca asked herself. She was enjoying teasing Chloe a little, especially since the redhead seemed to be the one who always took her off her guard. It was nice to switch things up a little. To know that Beca had this effect on Chloe, that she could make her feel flustered and blush like a teenager.
And in any other circumstance, she would indulge herself.
But she knew that this was no ordinary circumstance at all, and once more her heart and mind were locked in a battle of logic and emotions. It would be very easy to just give in. She wanted to give in.
Beca knew, even when she silenced the thoughts in her head and buried it deep down in her heart, that she wanted to kiss Chloe again. Properly this time, and not under false pretenses of a mission.
It was clear to her. She wanted to be with Chloe Beale. She wanted her. She lo-
Okay, get a grip, Beca, she thought to herself. She reached out to the handle on Chloe's door and opened it, biting her lips as she looked away before pulling back to her seat.
Chloe let out a nervous chuckle, unbuckling her own belt in the process. "Thanks… honey."
Beca mimicked her reaction as she unbuckled herself from her seat as well and opened her door. "Of course, sweetheart," she said before the two of them locked eyes and exchanged a nervous laughter, followed once again by a comfortable silence between them.
It's November 1, and you know what that means. . .
It's time to Request prompts for 2023's Christmas One-Shots.
Hello, my fellow Pitch Perfect/BeChloe lovers. Now that SpookFest is over, it is time to look forward to my favorite holiday: CHRISTMAS!
We are just one month away from December, and it is time for me to start writing so I can post the 25 Days of BeChloe Christmases 2023 starting on December 1.
I do have a list of prompts from last year that I did not use, so I will be starting to work on those, but I will need more to make the full 25 Days; that’s where you come in. So, consider this my annual request for Christmas prompts. Please send me a message with your prompt.
Please remember, these are a few rules that I stand by (I’ve made minor changes but I think you’ll be okay with them):
1. I don't do hardcore smut (some light smut may occur, but the hardcore stuff is just not really my thing, so please don't ask).
2. I like different AUs (High School, Military, etc.). I'm not all that good with vampire or werewolf-type stories. I have attempted them and was somewhat successful (at least in my mind), so be kind in what you ask for if you choose that particular subject.
3. These will be all BeChloe; there will be other pairings as secondary pairings, so if you have a favorite, put them in your prompt.
4. One last thing: I get a lot of prompts about pregnant Beca or Chloe. I will probably do one story for each of them, using Christmas to tell the other they are pregnant (or something along those lines), but I will not write a story where the pregnancy causes any serious medical issues for the mother or the baby (minor medical scares are okay, just no serious stuff; it is for Christmas after all and you know I'm more about the fluffy side of the holiday). So, again, please don't ask that of me.
5. I enjoyed some previous prompts due to their creativity and unusual theme (I even did one that was a Western with Beca as a gunslinger!). I’m looking forward to more creative ideas, so help a BeChloe lover out and leave a prompt here or message me. I'll keep a list and post the first one-shot on December 1.
I can't wait to see what you beautiful people come up with this year! Thanks, everyone!
Love,
Your sister in BeChloe, BeChloeIsLegit!
in light of the recent Goncharov (1973) resurgence, here’s a little mafia bechloe snippet. as a treat.
* * *
Chloe doesn’t glance up from her work at the knock on her office door. “Enter.”
The door opens and the sound of Stacie’s voice follows her into the room. “Found this one snooping around the docks,” she says. Chloe looks up to see a woman being shoved into the room, dwarfed in size with Stacie and Cynthia Rose on either side of her. “Caught her listening in on a private conversation.”
Chloe doesn’t have to ask what kind of conversation Stacie was referring to. She raises an eyebrow, inspecting the woman.
She’s not very imposing, that much Chloe can admit. Her brown hair falls in waves down to her shoulders, her pale skin standing in stark contrast to the dark leather jacket around her skinny frame. Chloe has no doubt she was easily apprehended.
And yet, her steel blue eyes meet Chloe’s face, a hint of defiance to them.
Interesting.
Chloe gestures toward the two club chairs in front of her desk, an invitation that the woman takes, shrugging her shoulder out of Cynthia Rose’s grip and moving to settle into the chair on the left.
Chloe flicks her fingers to dismiss Stacie and Cynthia Rose, eyes not leaving the stranger in front of her.
The door clicks shut a few moments later. A clock ticks quietly, steadily. Shanks the cat stretches in his bed in the corner, letting out a soft mewl.
Chloe leans her elbows on her desk, fingers laced together. She smiles at her guest. “What’s your name?”
The woman crosses her arms, leans back in her seat. “Will you believe me if I tell you?”
“Try me,” Chloe tells her, eyes twinkling. “I’m much more trusting than you think.”
The woman bites at the inside of her cheek, considering. “Beca,” she reveals after a moment.
Chloe leans back in her own seat, one elbow propped up on the armrest. “Beca,” she echoes, smile intact. “It’s very nice to meet you, Beca.”
She lets the moment sit, waiting until Beca starts to look uneasy for the first time since she walked through Chloe’s door. “So, is this the part where you threaten me? Tell me you’ll pull my teeth out or something if I don’t tell you what I saw?”
“I prefer to have much more civilized conversations, actually,” Chloe replies. “And you have such nice teeth, it would be a shame to remove them from such a pretty mouth.”
A rush of satisfaction hums through Chloe at the light blush that appears on Beca’s cheeks.
“So what are you?” Chloe asks. “FBI? CIA?” She snickers a bit. “A local cop trying to play hero?”
“More like curious,” Beca replies. “Inquisitive. Nosy. I’ve been told I have a bit of a rebellious streak.”
Chloe bites her lip, takes in Beca’s slouched shoulders, relaxed posture. She seems remarkably at ease for someone sitting in the office of a mafia boss. “I don’t believe you,” she tells Beca.
“So you’re not as trusting as you claim to be.”
“I don’t believe you,” Chloe repeats, reaching out to grab the apple sitting untouched on her desk, turning it over idly in her hands. She studies Beca once more, decides she likes what she sees. Her smile slides into a smirk. “But I’d like to.”
And Beca’s grin matches her own.
Bechloe accidental first kiss
Beca, of course, had always thought about kissing Chloe. She’s beautiful, warm, and quite frankly the whole reason Beca is having such a great time at Barden. Beca’d come to the realization that she had a crush on her best friend ages ago, and every day that came after that was just another day that Beca had to stifle the urge to do just that.
She thought about how soft Chloe’s lips would be- she always saw her reapply her chapstick religiously- and dreamed about how cute it would feel like to stand up on her tip toes and wrap her arms around Chloe’s shoulders. She wanted to have Chloe hold her as more than a friend, in places more than just the couch in the Bella House.
Beca is not completely sure that Chloe likes her back- no matter what Stacie or Emily or anybody else says- so that’s why she hasn’t yet made her move. She’s not a complete wimp- she’d made out with Jesse in front of all those people in Lincoln Center after all- but she is not going to be rejected by her best friend, damn it. Beca doesn’t think that she can’t take it, the awkwardness nor the loss of friendship. Chloe is her favorite person, ever, in the world, and Beca doesn’t know what she would do with herself if she ruined that.
The only problem was, Chloe is touchy. She touched Beca everywhere, on the arm whenever she laughs, the hand whenever she wants to listen to some music that Beca had mixed, the waist whenever she wishes to get by. Normally Beca is used to it, but sometimes she still gets caught off guard and jumps whenever she is not paying attention.
Such as today.
"Okay, okay," Chloe says, trying to catch everybody's attention. "We have the decorations here, Jessica and Ashley are going to put on the music, and Beca is laying out the cookies. The Trebles are going to be here in about an hour girls, let's move it."
Why Beca had agreed to take care of the baking, she does not know. Certainly not because Chloe had tried her mom's chocolate chip cookie recipe last week and begged Beca to recreate it, that's just too pathetic.
Beca sighs, folding in the chocolate chips. She has one more step to go, and then she can shove them in the oven and never think about it again. Chloe can take them out. It was her idea anyway.
Finished with gently laying in the chocolate with the dough, Beca goes to look for the scooper. She opens the drawer where they usually keep it, but it's not there.
"Hey, Chlo! Where's the scooper? I need it for the cookies."
"Hm?" Chloe glances back over her shoulder from the living room, where she is taping a string of Christmas lights from the ceiling. "Oh I think I have it in my room. I used it last night for some ice cream."
Beca raises her eyebrows. "For some ice cream? Really? That's like... a pretty big spoon, don't you think?"
Chloe huffs, rolling her eyes. There is a smile on her lips and Beca is proud that she placed it there. Teasing is too much fun. "Well I have a pretty big appetite, especially for sweet stuff like ice cream. You know that."
"Uh huh." Beca is already washing her hands and making her way into Chloe's bedroom. "I should have put salt in these cookies then, so you wouldn't eat them all."
Chloe's room is a mess. Books on her bed, clothes on the floor, bra hanging over a desk chair. Beca tries not to stare at it as she turns around in a circle to locate the ice cream/cookie scooper. Knowing Chloe, it could be under her bed for all Beca knew. She was just about to bend down and pull the comforter over when something catches her eye.
A journal. On Chloe's pillow.
It was open to two pages, left side scribbled on, right side with a drawing. Ethically, Beca knows that she shouldn't, but curiosity gets the better of her when she sees something written in Chloe's loopy lettering that might be her name. Stepping over a novel from some Russian author, Beca picks the journal up.
She barely had time to register that the drawing was of her bent over her laptop when Chloe pinches her waist. "Hey I found it-"
Beca practically jumps out of her skin at the sudden contact. "Jesus Chr-"
Chloe's mouth brushes the corner of Beca's. They both freeze. Beca's hands slip on the journal balancing in her palm and it tumbles down to her feet but neither seems to notice. They're too busy trying to understand what just happened. Beca's face is turned towards Chloe's and her heart is making itself known in her ribcage with the speed at which its beating. Her brain sizzled and sparked like a backup generator kicking into gear in a blackout.
They're still standing two inches apart. Beca's eyes look into Chloe's and Chloe's look back, both surprise and a little bit of fear reflected in those bright blues. Chloe seems to hesitate, before pulling her hand away from Beca's body. When Beca didn't make an effort to move, or push her away, Chloe swallows, and opens her mouth.
"Look, Beca, I'm sorry. I shouldn't have done that."
Beca blinks. Dazedly. "What?" Holy crap, Chloe Beale just kissed her. "About what?"
Chloe gestures between them. "That." Her breath is warm and smells like candy, and god, her lips look so soft. "We shouldn't have kissed. I scared you, and you hadn't been paying attention, and I really do want to kiss you, like so so freaking bad, but like not like this, and I'm sorry that if this means that our friendshi-"
And this time, Beca kisses her. Because Chloe just confirmed that she likes Beca back, and Beca is not a wimp. She kisses her like she imagined she would, and her arms wrapped around Chloe's shoulders and her feet goes to stand on tip toes and Chloe's smile is indeed soft and sweet and tastes like candy and Beca is so glad that she agreed to bake her cookies tonight.
Chloe pushes Beca down onto her bed. Her teeth nips on Beca's bottom lip before trailing to her neck and Beca can feel herself shiver. "You really shouldn't have been going through my journal, either, y'know."
"Yeah well, I have a pretty big appetite, especially for mysterious stuff like journals. You know that."
Chloe laughs, right into Beca's skin. Her fingers brush on Beca's thighs and Beca starts, again, because she really doesn't think she can ever get over Chloe suddenly touching her in all the right places. "I do now."
oo okay i have a bechloe ask for u. if i mention bechloe x rainbows, what comes to mind?
not necessarily bechloe! but
Beca and Jesse were stacking CDs in the radio station one afternoon. Having come straight from her biology class, which happened to have been right after her literature class with her dad, Beca was thouroughly exhausted of all social interaction and was not in the mood to talk to Jesse.
Flipping through a row of CDs on a shelf, something caught Beca's eye. She pulled the album off the shelf and held it in her hands, flipping it over to look at the track list on the back. "Oh cool," she accidentally said outloud.
This gained Jesse's attention, and the brown-haired boy inched from where he was sorting vinyls in alphabetic order to where Beca was working. "Hayley Kiyoko?" he asked, peering over Beca's shoulder.
Beca's gaze hardened, and she shrugged her shoulder violently to get him to back off. Ears reddening, she placed the CD back on the shelf.
"Isn't she gay?" asked Jesse innocently.
Beca, already irritated from the long day, just nodded. "Yup," she grumbled.
Jesse hesitated, tilting his head to the side. "You like her music?" he asked, a grin playing on his face.
"I guess so," admitted Beca. She stepped further away and turned to another shelf, hoping Jesse would get the hint that she didn't want to talk.
Nodding, Jesse followed her, again entering her personal space. "Cool, cool." And after a moment: "Are you gay?"
The question came as a shock to Beca. She turned and faced him, eyes wide and scowling. "What?"
"Are you gay?" he repeated.
Beca held his gaze, soft and playful eyes staring into set and angry ones. There was no denying this, she knew, her reaction had already given it away. "I'm bi," she relented.
Jesse nodded. "That's cool," he told her with a smile, before returning to his own work and finally leaving her be.
Beca sighed in relief, hoping that this was over and they would never talk about it again. Ever.
Her hoping was in vain, for when she came into the radio station two days later, a rainbow pin with the word 'ALLY' on it was pinned to Jesse's jacket. She groaned.
Jesse's face lit up, and he dug in his pocket for a second before fishing out another pin, this time with pink and orange stripes across it.
Beca rolled her eyes. "Wrong pin, dumbass," she told him. But she snatched the pin from him anyway and stuffed it into her bag.
Maybe Chloe would like it.
Hi! So glad to see you back. Switching Gears is my comfort fic. Any chance you are planning for a sequel? And that it will stay exclusively Staubrey and Bechloe? I love Bella squared, but I love Aubrey and Stacie more and there are so few quality fics of them. On another note, obviously I loved your latest update.
Hello and thank you! I love that anything I write is considered a comfort fic for people, it gives me the warm fuzzies.
While I rarely say never, I can say the odds aren't good with this one. It was such a specific plot idea that barely stayed in it's starting lane for Staubrey. The side relationships weren't supposed to happen beyond a brief side Bechloe mention and then I almost went the Squared route anyway.
The only reason I'd write a follow up at this point would be to put the 4 of them together because they convinced me it was inevitable. But at this point that just lives in my head. I don't even have half a plot idea for that after all these years. Notes, yes, but that's it.
So I will most likely leave it as the stand alone Staubrey story it was meant to be even though it almost became something entirely different by the end.
The update was... both more and less difficult to write than I thought after 3 years, but I admit to being very nervous about posting after so long, so thank you for that too.
Hope you're having a wonderful start to your year, despite my utter lack of good news about Gears 2, lol.
another random question went thru my mind.. again side note, "went thru my mind while re-reading AIAOY" lol (from prev bechloe game) "She's been telling you she loves you for years." like what other anon said.. if this one is part of aiaoy where stacie/aubrey tells chloe i wonder if there is a part where chloe asks beca about how she felt seeing chloe and tom date, since beca loves chloe "for years" will there be a discussion of it in the story ? lol if i may, a sneak peak of it perhaps? :)) thankyou
There will definitely be a discussion of some kind. And, as of right now, I can't give a sneak peek with spoiling it! 🤫🤫🤫
Thank YOU
Love you like the movies
Summary: There was just something that rubbed Beca the wrong way about the whole movie thing. They didn't make sense to her. Why would someone want to do those cheesy things like kissing in the rain or dancing in the middle of the street? But what if they didn't make sense because she was looking in the wrong direction? Pairing: Bechloe (with side Staubrey) Rated: T
Hey there! I just posted a new fic on Ao3!
Let me know what you think of it!
