"Dark Mark" Jegulus Oneshot
Prompt by @jegulus-microfic (prompt: praise)
-
Regulus stood in the middle of the room, his arm in agonizing pain, while his family praised him and their lord, and all Regulus could think about is how he betrayed James.
The Dark Mark shown brightly against the contrast of Regulus's pale skin; it made Regulus want to be sick, but he couldn't help but think of all that this mark stood for and be the tiniest of bits proud.
Then he though about James.
About what James going to say when he saw.
All the proudness and hints of happiness disappeared when he thought about how James was going to hate him for this.
His one love, the man who gave him so much joy and light in this hell, his sun - was going to hate him; for something he had no choice in.
Just as Bellatrix was about to tell him some more bullshit and give him more undeserved praise, Regulus left the room, not saying another word, and locks himself in his room.
Sirius had long fled this house, so he couldn't even go to them about this.
The one person who was ever nice to him, had left.
. . .
James walked to his front door, hearing someone ring the doorbell and thinking it was post.
He opened it, and stopped dead in his tracks as he saw who it was.
It was not the postman.
"Hey, Jamie... Uh.. May I come in..?"
James doesn't hesitate a moment to wrap Regulus in a tight hug.
"Oh my god, Reggie, oh my god- of course you can come in, you know you are always welcome. Oh my gods, I can't believe its you.."
"'Always welcome'.. Doubtful, once I tell you what I've become," Regulus thought to himself bitterly, but says nothing of the sort and forces the bitterness out of his words.
"Thanks, James.."
James basically drags Regulus inside after hugging him so tightly.
"Mum, Dad, Pads! Reggie is here!!" James called into the quiet house.
Fleamont and Euphemia Potter came into the room, but not before Sirius ran into the room and jaw dropped once she saw his brother again.
"Reg..?" Sirius's voice cracks as he steps out to see Regulus, not quite sure if this is even real, or if she was just dreaming.
"Hi Sirius."
The two hesitate a moment before hugging each other; it was probably the first time Sirius was able to hug Regulus since they were very little.
"Hello, Regulus, I hope you know you are welcome to stay as long as you want to," Effie says after Sirius and Regulus are done hugging; Sirius's eyes are red from trying not to cry (and failing).
"Thank you," Regulus says gratefully to James's parents, but somewhere inside him he knew that this generosity would be all but a memory once they found the mark on his arm, that was still burning from the recent inking.
"James could we talk for a minute, alone?" Regulus asks James in an undertone so only he could hear.
"Yeah, sure, come on, I'll show you to your room."
James takes Regulus's hand as they walk up the stairs, leaving the others behind.
James makes a mental note of how cold Regulus's hands were compared to last time he was able to hold them.
They both walk into the spare guest room, and Regulus closes the door behind the both of them.
"So what did you want to talk about?"
Regulus takes a deep breath before speaking.
"Jamie, I want you to know that I love you-"
"I love you too, Reggie!"
"I haven't finished.."
James's face falls, and he looks at Regulus curiously who continues to speak.
"I love you, and I really hope you do too, and I really want you to know that I had no choice.." Regulus says, his voice getting quieter but he keeps his eyes on James's as he reluctantly rolls up his sleeve.
His arm was red from irritation from the mark; the Dark Mark plastered black ink over his forearm.
"I am so sorry, Jamie-"
James says nothing, just stares in shock and horror at the Dark Mark on his lover's skin, while Regulus was willing himself not to let any tears slip.
James reaches out after a few moments to grasp Regulus's arm, his thumb just barely grazing over the black ink.
"I still love you Reggie. I just.. I just don't know what we are going to do now."

Crossing Paths - Sirius Black Part 9
Tumblr media
~Flashback Continues~
"Ah Mrs Black. Lovely to see you." I greeted her sweetly. "Sirius was just going to show me the powder room."
Her narrowed black eyes stared at us closely before she spoke again "It can wait. I'd love to here more about you and your parents." She sternly said.
I took a small nervous glance at Sirius. He just gave me a small apologetic smile in return. Almost like he knew his mother was going to grill me about my views and upbringing.
"Follow me." She ordered as she started walking up the stairs and into another room.
We silently followed her to what seemed to be some sort of drawing room. I glanced at the wall and notice a family tree of some sort. A few faces looked like they were blasted off.
"Shut the door Sirius." She instructed once she took a seat. "Now dear what are your views on filthy mud-bloods?"
I strongly resisted the urge to make a face at the mention of that ghastly word and mulled over my words carefully.
"They should be pitied. Trying to compete with the old magic of pure bloods." I recited my father's words
Those words that have been drilled into my head for years. I'd love to see them try to take on Lily Evans.
"Yes. Pitied and wiped out." She agreed "You surprise me. I would have never thought my disgrace of a son would actually make a friend I would approve of. And when my dear Regulus started talking about you I had to be sure you were the same girl."
"Of course. I can understand the concerns of a mother." I started in an understanding tone.
"Yes, which is why a brought you here. The true measure of a person is based on their fears." She smiled wickedly eerie smile at me.
Her words sent terror and confusion across my mind. I glanced at Sirius and he immediately froze, the color draining from his face as his eyes glued to a cabinet in the drawing desk beside his mother.
Without saying a word she flicked her wrist and it opened. What came out was a trunk. Not just any trunk though the very one I had been locked in when I was younger.
Tears threatened to fall before I realized what I was facing, a boggart. Small rasping sounds a young child could be heard crying for help and banging against the wood.
Mrs.Black waves her wand again and the creature disappeared back inside the cabinet.
"Very interesting. You may go now." She calmly said as she rose up and stalked towards the door. "Sirius go help your friend clean up."
I hadn't noticed the tears that streamed down my face until she left and Sirius rushed over and started wiping them away.
"I'm so sorry. I knew she was going question you but I never thought she'd use the boggart." He gushed pulling me into a tight hug as I let my tears fall down my face and on to his shoulder.
"She's more horrible than you said." I cried out
We stood like that for what felt like eternity until my tears dried and I had calmed down. I hate what she did to me. Just to see my value. I was now furious. I could only imagine what Sirius went through all summer long. And every summer before now.
I pulled away from him and stormed out of the room and up to his room. He followed close on my heels not saying a word until his door was shut again.
"I can understand if you want to leave and if you hate me." He began worried my angry was directed at him.
"I don't hate you Sirius. You can't control the family you're born into. But we can control when and how this party ends." I declared pacing in front of him to try an settle my nerves.
"Oh? What do you have in mind?" He asked intrigued
I walked to my bag and pulled out my wand and a small cage. "I was saving these beauties from Avery and his gang but seeing as they're here I guess it won't be a total waste."
"Are those pixies?" He voiced with surprise.
"Yes, they are. They can be easy to handle but they'll get the job done." I told him.
"Perfect but once they're loose you need to leave. I can handle the rest on my own." He urged.
"Are you sure? Your mother is a real piece of work." I pressed with worry.
"Yeah I'll just slip over to one of my other mates if things get too bad." He promised me.
I nodded in agreement and we set out to put an end to the downstairs party.
When we got close to the base of the stairs but still out of view I looked at the pixies "Now there's a terrible boring party down there. Why do you lot go down and liven it up." I suggested as I opened the cage.
We watched them zoom down and soon heard the cried from the party goers.
"Now it's time for your grand escape." Sirius said taking my hand as he led me through the maze of screaming pure bloods to the fireplace.
I glanced at the fireplace and back to him. I didn't want to leave him here alone but his pleading eyes told me he needed me to leave.
"You better write me and let me know your still alive after this." I halfheartedly joked.
"I'll send an owl as soon I leave." He promised raising our connected hands and giving my hand a kiss.
I, again, nodded at a loss for words at his actions as my cheeks started to feel hot.
I entered into fireplace and called "McCoy household." as I waved goodbye to my evening's date.
Soon the familiar look of my living room was before me and I climbed out.
I absentmindedly walked up to my room and threw myself on my bed. Who knew a simple favor would have turned out like this.
*I just hope he's ok. If he dies, I'll bring him back and kill him myself.* I thought as I let out a big breath of air.

Part 3 of the disowning fic where Sirius calls Reg and Remus tells James (with Sirius’ permission ofc) and when Walburga calls Reg, he rips into her like never before. James rushing to Sirius’ house and basically having to be restrained from going to her house with Reg in tow.
Hopefully that makes sense. Sorry it’s probably really badly phrased
This makes a ton of sense--thank you for sending it in! Writing Regulus is such a neat challenge, since he and Sirius are so similar and yet so different. Sweater Weather credit goes to @lumosinlove!
Part 1 II Part 2
TW for disownment and past child abuse (mentioned)
If Sirius ever met the person that invented showers, he would kiss them on the mouth. With tongue, if requested.
His phone hummed on the coffee table; when he made no move to grab it, Remus reached over and flipped the screen up. “Reg is on the way.”
Sirius hummed and cuddled into his chest, tightening his hold on his waist. Gentle fingers combed through his damp hair and he was warm all over in the best way. His face and eyes still itched a little, and his throat was raw from crying so hard, but at least he finally felt clean. The ache in his gut had dulled.
Remus pressed his lips to the space just above Sirius’ ear and wrapped his arms around him, tracing patterns on his upper back beneath his shirt. The skin-to-skin contact was something he never knew he needed so much—he couldn’t imagine living without it now. “We should go on vacation sometime this summer,” he mused, absently braiding a few locks of Sirius’ hair.
“Where?”
“I dunno. Somewhere warm, where we can swim and you can get all sexy and tan.”
Sirius laughed against his chest and breathed in the honey-lavender smell of his soap. “As long as you promise to freckle.”
He could feel Remus smiling. “I’ll do my best. It wouldn’t have to be a long trip, either—maybe a week in Florida, or California.”
“Alabama?” Sirius teased.
“Honey.” Remus kissed his forehead. “If you take me to Alabama—” Another kiss. “—I will take the biggest spider I can find—” A third kiss, so sweet in comparison to his playful threat. “—and put it in your shoe.”
Sirius snorted. “Just divorce me, that would be nicer.”
“Mmm, no, you’d miss me too much.”
“Put a spider in my shoe and we’ll see if that’s true.” Remus’ shoulders shook under him as they laughed and Sirius kissed his collarbone, then closed his eyes. “Do we have time for a nap before Reg gets here?”
“Maybe. How fast does he drive?”
“Not as fast as Pots—”
The doorbell rang, and then kept ringing; someone knocked insistently on the door, and Sirius groaned as he untangled his limbs from Remus and wandered over.
Regulus was not alone on the porch.
“What’s her phone number?” James demanded, practically smoking with fury as he and Regulus stormed into the house. He let out a furious breath when he saw the open envelope on the kitchen counter.
Sirius raised an eyebrow at his little brother. “Did you call him?”
“Of course I called him,” Regulus scoffed. “We also called Logan.”
“Isn’t he in Canada for the rest of the week?”
“Yeah, but he said he’d be here on Friday.” Regulus gave him a quick once-over and a stormy look came over his face. “When did she drop those off?”
“She didn’t. The mailman did, just after five.” Something bitter tinged Sirius’ mouth. “That was after she tried to make Remus give them to me.”
“What a bitch.”
“Reg!”
“It’s true,” Regulus snapped, though his anger was clearly directed elsewhere. “She’s a horrible coward and you deserve better.”
James held his phone up to get Sirius’ attention. “What’s her number?”
“I’m not giving you her phone number, J.”
“Reg, what’s her number?”
Regulus bit his lip for a second, then shook his head. “She won’t know who you are, and she would sue your ass faster than you could blink if you lost your temper on her. Me, on the other hand…”
Sirius put his hand over Regulus’ phone. “Don’t do this. If she disowns you, too—”
“If she disowns me I’ll throw a fucking party!” Regulus all but shouted. The room went silent. “I am sick and tired of hiding and watching them hurt you. She doesn’t control me anymore.”
“I’m not letting you get hurt for me.”
“And I’m not asking for you permission.” Regulus stepped back and dialed a number; in the kitchen doorway, Remus and James watched them in a mix of shock and concern.
The call connected and Regulus’ whole face went stony. “What is it, Regulus?” a tinny voice asked.
“Is it true?”
“Is what true?” Walburga sniffed. “Please, Regulus, we’ve discussed this. You have to clarify your intentions—”
“Did you disown my brother?”
“He’s not your brother anymore.” Disdain dripped from her voice and Sirius’ throat constricted as cold fire lit in Regulus’ eyes.
“He’s more family to me than you ever were.” His tone was even and deadly.
“Don’t be ridiculous—”
“Shut up.” A protective urge jolted in Sirius’ gut and he almost smacked the phone out of Regulus’ hand. “Just shut up.”
“I beg your pardon?”
“You’re a coward and a liar, and I hate you.” A fine tremor slipped through and Regulus gritted his teeth. Remus touched Sirius’ elbow gently, and he gripped his hand tight.
“Listen here, you silly boy—”
“You don’t get to hurt him anymore. Sirius is a better person that you could ever dream of being and the fact that you can’t accept when your own son is happy—”
“He disgraced us—”
“You disgraced us!” Regulus snapped. “You and your rules, your blood money, your parenting that belonged more in a prison than a house! I’m not stupid, Mother, I know what you did was wrong!”
There were a few beats of silence. “I did what I did to prepare you for the real world.”
“The real world doesn’t give a ten-year-old a black eye for breaking a plate.”
Sirius closed his eyes and clenched his jaw as Remus inhaled sharply next to him; James cursed under his breath. The plate had been one of his grandmother’s, part of a twelve-piece set that they were using for Thanksgiving. One flipped corner on the rug had sent him flying, but the porcelain shard in his hand had hurt less than Walburga’s fury.
She was breathing hard on the other end of the line. “The world is a cruel place, Regulus.”
“No crueler than you.”
“Watch your mouth, you ungrateful child, or you’ll find yourself in the same shoes as that stain on our family tree.”
A flinty look came over Regulus then; if Sirius didn’t know better, he’d say he looked almost smug. “Do it. I dare you to look the media in the eye and tell them you disowned one son for being happy and the other for calling you out on your terrible parenting.”
“We disowned him for being a failure and a disgrace.”
Grey met grey as Regulus spoke next, his gaze never flickering from Sirius’ eyes. “Happily married to the love of his life, youngest captain in the league, with two Stanley Cups under his belt? Doesn’t sound like a failure to me, and far from a disgrace.”
Remus squeezed his hand as Sirius swallowed back a few tears that had started to gather. He offered a weak smile and the corners of Regulus’ eyes crinkled slightly.
“I’m hanging up the phone now,” he said, smooth and collected. Walburga was utterly silent. “Never contact me or my brother again. If you disown me, at least have the dignity to do it in person.”
He hung up and slid his phone into his back pocket. “Jesus,” James half-laughed behind them. “Remind me never to get on your bad side.”
“That was really brave, and really stupid.” Sirius said as he walked forward. Regulus met him in the middle, tucking his head under Sirius’ chin in a tight hug. “Thank you.”
“Brave and stupid, huh? I’m turning into you already.”
Sirius flicked his ear with a grin, but never loosened his hold. “Brat.”
“Love you.”
He closed his eyes and felt Regulus’ heartbeat through his palm. “Love you, too.”
“Will you at least give me her address so I can egg her house?” James asked once they separated, already moving to give Sirius another hug. He melted into it; James had the incredible ability to make him feel completely and utterly safe, like the world couldn’t touch him as long as he was there.
“As amazing as that would be, I’d rather not see you arrested.”
“Fair point.” He pulled back a bit and James searched his face. A wrinkle appeared between his brows. “How can I help?”
“This is nice.” Exhaustion made Sirius’ limbs heavy and his head was starting to throb from his earlier breakdown. James pulled him back in and two more sets of arms followed, forming a shield all around him. He felt Remus kiss his cheek and Regulus’ hand splay over his ribs; James was steady, an anchor in the storm. “How am I going to tell people about this?”
“You don’t have to,” Remus murmured.
“If I don’t, she will.”
“Then tell them the truth,” Regulus said. “Maybe not everything, but the relevant parts.”
“We’ll be here with you.” James’ voice was soft. “Us, and the rest of the team. Anything you need.”
Sirius didn’t say anything, but he did sink into the warmth of their embrace and let the weight of fear and unease lift off his shoulders. The burden wasn’t his alone; it never had been.

His Angel (Regulus Black)
Character: Regulus Black Requested: No Type: Angst/Fluff
Summary: Regulus is engaged to a fellow pure-blood Slytherin; the only people who know are other Slytherins.  One day the Marauders think it would be funny to mess with his fiancee. They soon regret it.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Tumblr media
The environment was warm though everywhere she looked, it was dark. Astoria did very much enjoy going over to the Black's Manor. Walburga and Orion both approved of the young Slytherin and treated her as their own. Of course, if she were any other blood status, she wouldn't have been accepted.
But thankfully, that wasn't the case.
Astoria comes from a long line of rich and powerful pure-blood Slytherins. The Vadieux. Besides the Gaunts and Blacks, the Vadieux was wizarding royalty. Everyone worshipped the ground they walked on, especially the oldest Vadieux daughter--Astoria.
She was beautiful. Her charcoal shoulder length curled hair brought out her porcelain skin and bright green eyes. She was breathtaking. Every girl wanted to be her, and every guy wanted to be with her.
Guys from every house tried to win the fifth year Slytherin, but no luck. From first years to seventh years from Hufflepuff to even Gryffindor, all the bachelors tried, and every time, she shut them down.
There was only one boy she would ever accept, and it was her best friend.
"Your father has been asking for your presence at the dining hall. I took the pleasure to be the one to call for you." Speaking of the devil and he shall appear.
Astoria looked up from the book she's been staring at for the last few minutes. She couldn't help but smile at the young boy at her door, "Regulus, I didn't know you arrived. Salazar, my parents, will murder me."
Regulus chuckled at the distressed girl putting on her heels and patting down her dress. She then looked up at Regulus and twirled, "How do I look?"
His eyes gleamed at the beautiful girl in front of him. Since they were little, they used to always hang out. They were each other's best friends.
They went through thick and thin together. He adores her. She was the one who was there after Sirius left. She listened to his cries, wiped his tears, and made his days better.
She was his angel.
Her black dress hugged her curves in the best way. Her curly hair was bouncing around while her bright green eyes sparkled through the dim lights. She looks beautiful.
"You look like an angel. My angel." She looked up at him smiling brightly. His words made her heart flutter. She then hugged him real tight. His arms instantly went around hers tightly. They both sighed in content.
Sadly knowing their parents were both waiting downstairs, he reluctantly pulled back, "Not that I don't enjoy having you in my arms, angel, but our parents will probably have our heads if we don't go down in this instant."
She nodded, knowing it was true. She then pecked his cheek, "By the way, you look very dashing. Who knew the noble Regulus Black could clean up so well?"
He jokingly rolled his eyes and held his arm out for her to wrap hers around. They both made their way downstairs to see her house-elf  Minnie waiting.
"Master was telling Minnie to wait for young Mister Black and Miss Astoria. Everyone is at the dining table. Minnie can accompany you to the dining hall." She then walked quickly towards the dining room. The door opened, and her eyes widen in shock. She thought it would be a small dinner, not one including the families of every Slytherin known to man.
"Regulus, thank you, my boy, for bringing Astoria down. Minnie, you can go and start serving the dinner." Her father's voice boomed throughout the room.
Regulus gave him a charming smile, "Of course, Mr.Vadieux." Then they both took their seat next to their family. Of course, Regulus had to be a bit extra and pull her seat out and push her in, then getting to his seat.
Everyone ate in silence once the house-elves served the food thankfully, Astoria was sat with one of her friends from Hogwarts and was chatting until her father cleared his throat, making everyone look up at him.
"I'm sure plenty of you are confused on why we called for a short noticed dinner for everyone. My wife and I were too excited to keep the secret for much longer. Orion, my friend, would you like to do the honors?" She could see her father gleaming from ear to ear. She looked at Regulus, giving him a confused look, only for him to quickly look to the ground.
"Well, I'm proud to announce that there will be a new union." Whispers broke out. Everyone except for the Blacks and her parents looked confused. "The union of my son, Regulus Arcturus Black, and the lovely Astoria Nova Vadieux." Every pure-blood family claps loudly. Astoria's eyes widened at her name. She blinked a few times trying to assimilate what she just heard.
She was just fifteen. She couldn't already be betrothed. She knew it was coming, but she didn't think it was going to happen that soon. Albeit it could have been someone much older and much worst.
She tried to get Regulus's attention but it seemed as if he was trying to avoid it. Did he already know beforehand about the union? No he couldn't have, Regulus would've told her.
She jumped when she felt a hand on her shoulder, it was her future father-in-law.
"My dear Walburga and I always thought of you as a Black and now you finally will be. Isn't this magnificent?" He boasted causing everyone to murmur in agreement.
"Of course Mr. Black, may I just ask...uh-when will the wedding take place?" The murmurs stopped.
"Well since you become of age around October of your seventh-year, you will get married during Christmas break of that year. Would that be a problem?" She knew that question was moreso to see if she was eager to get married.
Though she didn't like the idea of it she nodded faking a smile, "Of course Mr.Black. I was just wondering since that year would be NEWTS and I would love to plan my wedding."
He seemed to buy it and gave her a smile as Walburga pulled her into a hug. Everyone congratulated her and after a couple of hours it was only her family and the Blacks.
She hasn't spoken to Regulus since the moment they entered the dining hall. It seemed like he was avoiding her until he finally got the courage to grab her hand and drag her outside of the dining hall as their families were talking.
They entered the library that was next to their parents and sat down next to each other. Astoria didn't know how to start it but she did have questions she needed answers.
She looked up at him and muttered, "Did you know?" He stared at her for what seemed like forever until he nodded slowly looking back down to his feet. She could feel the anger coursing through her body. "And why did you not tell me of it? Did you think it was not important enough to tell your best friend that she will be your future wife at the tender age of seventeen?!
He grabbed her hand lightly making her shut up, "I did not want to scare you. I know that you were dreading the person that your parents were going to pick and I did not want you to think any less of me.
She gave him a look, "Did you really think I would think less of you? It is an arranged marriage! Neither of us has a choice in this. If you think I would have been mad at you because you are my betrothed then you do not know me at all." She poked him in the chest. "I am only mad that you knew of this information and did not utter a single word to me. How long have you known?"
"A couple months now." She hit his arm in annoyance.
"How dare you Regulus Arcturus Black? How dare you keep this a secret from me for this long? You've seen me weep for my life because I thought my parents were going to give me Lucius and you knew it was you this whole time?" She hit him again in the arm. When she went to do it again he grasped her wrist hard enough to stop her from hitting him, but softly enough to not bruise her.
"Bloody hell Angel can you stop whacking me for a bloody second and let me explain." Once he felt like she calmed down he let her wrist go. "My parents told me a few months ago. My mother knew we were close so she fought a lot for this union so did our father. Your parents were choosing between Lucius and I. Since your parents saw how close we are they allowed our engagement to happen. Thank Merlin, I don't know what I would've done if you became a Malfoy."
She whacked him again, "Just as bad as being a Black."
He rolled his eyes and then they both sat in a comfortable silence. "Are you okay with this?" She looked up at him confused. He cleared his throat. "Are you okay with marrying me?"
She could tell from his expression that he was nervous for her answer. She could tell that this moment could alter both of their future.  Was she okay with it? She knows it could've been so much worst. She just wished she had more time.
"Reg..." She lightly caressed the side of his face. "You know how I feel for you. I bloody adore you and you know that. Of course I'm okay with marrying you. I just wished we had more time and that this..." She waved a hand between the both of them. "...wouldn't be forced."
He lifted her face towards his, "This wasn't forced Angel. Sure the timing is a bit rushed but we both knew we were going to end up with each other. Well at least I knew..."He gave her a sheepish look, "More so I hoped we would."
She quirked an eyebrow, "What are you trying to say?"
He gave her a sigh and went to retrieve something from his pocket. It was green velvet box. Her eyes widened even more when he opened it. It was a beautiful silver ring with diamonds all over the band. Embedded in the center surrounded by diamonds was a huge bright green emerald that screamed Slytherin. It was the most beautiful ring Astoria ever laid her eyes on.
He gently took it out of the box and expected it, "I got this ring a  month after I knew of our union. If you can't tell I'm very pleased that you are my fiancee or well soon to be and I'm very happy that you will be my future wife. You are the only person that gives my life meaning. In all of our years of knowing each other you have never left me. You were always there even when I thought I wanted to be alone. You never left me and you do not understand how much that means to me. I'm not very good at expressing my emotions,"
She snorted at his comment making him give her a pointed look. "What I'm trying to say is that I liked you the moment you shared with me your fear of the ocean to make me feel better of my fear of birds. And I fell in love with you the moment you slapped Sirius in the face last year to avenge me. I hoped to Merlin that I would be the one your parents chose. I would not know what I would've done if you were in the hands of Malfoy."
He took a breath and looked up at her. Her beautiful green eyes were overwhelmed with tears. Her heart was soaring. "Astoria Nova Vadieux, the one person my heart has and will only ever beat for, I know this seems rushed, but our connection is so much stronger than friendship and I know you feel the same. I promise  you my sweet and pure angel, that I will protect you, stand by you, be there for you, love you until my last dying breath and even then Merlin himself would not be able to stop me from continuing that promise. Astoria, my angel, will you make me the happiest wizard in the whole galaxy and marry me?"
Tears fell from her eyes and she nodded throwing herself at him. Arms secured around each other. She couldn't care less about the ring all she wanted was to be in Regulus' arms for as long as possible. His words made the love she had for him sky rocket. She knew their connection was stronger then just friendship, it was that neither of them had the bravery to say something. They weren't Gryffindors.
Once they pulled back he wiped her tears, "Bloody hell angel how do you still look beautiful when your're crying?" She laughs as he lightly puts the ring on her finger. They both stared at her finger then she felt fingers below her chin. She didn't know they were both leaning towards one another until their nose were touching. "I really want to kiss you." He whispers looking at her lips and then back at her. "May I? May I kiss you?" She nods, but that wasn't the answer he was looking for. "Words Angel. I need to hear you say it. "
"Yes..."She whispered. He gave her a small smile before finally kissing her. Time stopped. It was only them two. Though the engagement did come in a rush it did not stop fireworks that erupted the moment the ringer slid on her finger or the very moment where his lips landed on hers for the first time.
They both pulled away smiling at each other, "Wow."
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Astoria was walking down the halls of Hogwarts with her friend Lucinda and her other friend Marney. They decided to have a girls day that Saturday and have a picnic by the Great Lake. Though she was a bit hesitant to go her friends reassured her that they would have their picnic far enough to not scare her, but to enjoy the scenery.
After walking a good distant they placed their blanket down and their snacks out on the ground.
"How's your engagement with Regulus going?" Her friend asked and she smiled.
"It's perfect. I can't believe how much I adore him. He literally is the one person I want to be with for the rest of my life. I'm not going to lie I was a bit scared that when we arrived here that he might be cold towards me since he has a reputation to live by, but he is so sweet. Merlin blessed me with someone as perfect as my Regulus." The girls awed at their blushing friend. They were happy that their youngest friend was happy. They were betting on their relationship for the longest and were happy to know that they were doing splendid.
Unbeknownst to the girls, four boys were watching their every move.
"Guys I don't think this is a good idea." Remus chimes looking at the three smirking boys. "Padfoot you can't actually believe this will end well? She's your brother's  fiancee."
Sirius shrugs, "I'm sure it's an arrange marriage and we all know those are loveless. I'm sure he won't mind plus it's just for fun."
"Yeah Moony lighten up. Mates, you ready?" The two other boys nodded as Remus just sat down giving up on stopping them.
"Accio wands." Peter whispered and all of their wands were in his hand in a matter of seconds. He smiled as James patted him on the back.
Fortunely for them, the girls did not realize their wands were missing because they were talking and eating.
"Wormtail go and gather some people and hurry back show starts in five minutes." James calls out making the boy nod and run off.
After a few minutes the boys sees a group of people following Peter. He's running down towards them with his thumbs up.
"Guys I really don't think this is a good ide-"
"Shh Moony. Three...two...one..." James counts down as Remus shakes his head.
Sirius points his wand to the girls and whispers, "Oppugno"
The little flock of birds were speeding like a hail of bullets towards the girls, who just realized that the birds were heading directly at them.
The girls yelped and covered their faces with their hands, but the birds attacked, pecking and clawing at every bit of flesh they could reach.
They were nipping at their robes, their hair, and any skin they could find. The girls were screaming and all they could hear was the laughing of their fellow peers because Peter was smart enough to not tell the Slytherins of their certain plan. Astoria tried to find her wand but she couldn't see it anywhere.
"Luci, where the bloody hell did you put the wands." She screamed grabbing the blanket and whacking some of them off.
"If I bloody knew I would've stopped these birds." Her friend screamed back trying to get the birds off her.
The crowd behind them started laughing really hard at the struggling Slytherins. Though they were the nicest of the bunch they were Slytherins after all.
The birds seemed to have a liking towards Astoria and kept picking harder at her than the other two. She tried to run, but to her luck, she ran closer and closer to the lake until she tripped and fell into the water.
All Astoria felt was panic.
Drowning was her biggest fear. That's how she lost her youngest brother. Her little brother was unattended for a mere second and he made his way to the backyard and fell right in. The only person who saw was Astoria and at the time she was five and tried her best to swim to him, but to no avail. If her mother didn't make it as soon as she did she would've lost both her son and her daughter.
Since then she refused to go anywhere near a big body of water unless people were with her and they stayed a good amount of distance away from it.
She tried to swim, but she couldn't. The selkies weren't making it any easier. She feels sharp pains aimed at her head and pressure on her eyes. Her lungs are on fire. She starts panicking which only makes it worse. Then after a few seconds, she starts feeling tired. And then her eyes closed.
Everyone seemed to not notice that she wasn't coming up from the water until Severus Snape finally heard of the commotion and ran out of the Great Hall with some of his Slytherin friends.
"What's going on here?" He asked a Hufflepuff who was red from laughing.
He pointed towards what he saw was two girls getting attacked by birds, "Sirius cast a spell on those three Slytherins over there."
"Three? I only see two?" That comment made the group stop. Severus took out his wand and casted a spell to stop the birds from attacking the girls. He and the other Slytherins rushed to the two girls who fell from exhaustion on the ground.
The Marauders gave each other a look and ran over to the group.
"Lucinda? Marney? What are you doing here?" Severus asked looking at the girls who had their clothes ripped apart with small wounds caused by the birds.
"W-we wanted to have a girl's day with Astoria so we came here. Then out of nowhere birds came. So many birds." She started crying as Marney nodded and looked traumatized.
Severus' face paled, "Bloody hell if you're here....where is Astoria?" The two girls looked at each other and got up quickly. The girls froze when they saw the blanket they remembered she was using half in the lake. Severus looked at their eyesight and stared at the girls in fear. "Merlin...someone get Mrs. Pomfry now."
"Lucinda go get Regulus." The girl nodded running with the other Slytherins to get help. "What do we do Severus?"
"Do you need any hel-" Remus tried to ask but was ultimately interrupted by Severus glaring at the group.
"Do you really have the audacity to offer help when you caused all of this? Is this fun for you lot? Terrorizing innocent people?" He yelled finally having enough of their bullying ways. Everyone thought they were funny and it were all jokes but today proved it's not.
Marney grabbed onto Severus' arm, "That's not going to solve anything. She's still in there....and Severus I don't see any bubbles." She cried out.
Severus takes his robes and shoes off and jumps into the lake after taking a deep breath. Marney gasps and starts to follow suit but was stopped when James grabs a hold of her.
"I swear to Salazar I hope they expel each and every one of you for doing this. Who's bloody idea was it?" Marney demanded and they all pointed to Sirius. Her eyes grew wide.
"You? Out of all people you? She's going to be your bloody sister-in-law you git!" She slaps him hard across the face. "She's Regulus' fiancee. Did you not think of what he is going to do to you when he sees what you done? I bloody hope he murders your dimwitted arse."
She was about to slap him one more time when she hears more footsteps heading towards them.
"Where is she?" The rush voice of the one and only Regulus Black. Lucinda was running behind him. "Where the bloody hell is she?"
Regulus was a very reserved boy. The only times people have seen him aggressive was during quidditch.  But this Regulus stalking over towards the group was not the reserved boy people know him to be. He was livid.
"Severus went in and he's still hasn't come out yet. Dammit, I shouldn't have insisted to come here. She didn't want to and we pressured her. Godric, Regulus I'm so sorry." Lucinda cried out as Marney wraps her arms around her also tearing up.
Regulus took his coat off and went straight towards the lake, but before he could make it inside Severus pushed Astoria's body towards him. He immediately grabbed onto her laying her beside the lake while Marney and Lucinda went to grab onto Severus.
Something was wrong. Her skin was light blueish. He could also see the rips of her clothing from the birds he heard attacked her. Her lips were purple and chapped. But the worst of it all she was emotionless and cold.  Her state was going to be embedded in his mind forever. It would be in his nightmares and become his new boggart.
"Merlin Angel, what happened." He whispered to himself feeling tears well up. He immediatley put his fingers to her pulse and sighed in relief to hear it. Though it was very faintly.  He then places his hands at the center of her chest and pushes hard and fast twice per second. He then checks for breathing and groans. "Come on Angel please stay with me."
The people all gathered around him. The Marauders couldn't believe their eyes. Sirius out of all of them couldn't even look at the pair and looked guilty at the ground.
After a few more compressions she finally spat out crazy amounts of water and started taking deep breaths. Lucinda and Marney cried in glee, Severus sighed in relief, and Regulus pulled her towards him.
He didn't care if she was soaking him. He needed to feel her skin on his. He needed to feel her breathing.  He just needed her because he almost lost her.
"Merlin...Mister Black, please carry her back to the infirmary so we can fix her up." He hears the nurse arrive. He wraps his jacket around her to block the people from seeing her like this.  He then proceeds to carry her in his arms and starts running towards Hogwarts not before giving his brother a long and cold glare.
Severus, Marney, and Lucinda stayed back to glare at the Marauders.
"Loo-"
"No you look Black, you almost murdered your brother's girl and our friend and you don't even care!" Lucinda exclaims as the boys winced.
"I think maybe murder is a bit of a stretch...."James mutters defensively, but Marney only gave him a look ready to slap the magic out of him when a voice chimed in.
"Hey! No hitting someone or else I'm going to have to write you up and I'm sure your house doesn't need any more of those." The group turns to look at the redhead who was walking towards them. The Slytherins including Severus rolled their eyes at the head girl. Yes, he still had feelings for the girl but he could admit at times she was very biased towards James and his group of gits.
"Being house prejudice now huh red? What happened to the fair and sweet Lily Evans that we use to tolerate? Now even your presence makes me want to hex you to oblivion." Marney added giving her a wicked smirk. James went to defend his girl, but Lily thought she would take matters into her own hands.
"At least I'm not a pure-blood supremacist. Now tell me why you were about to smack my boyfriend or else I'll have to tell Professor McGonagall." She bit back making Snape roll his eyes.
"Well, Evans your boyfriend and his band of idiots thought it would be funny to use the Oppugno jinx on three Slytherin fifth-years to the point where one fell into the Great Lake and almost drowned. So go ahead and tell McGonagall but please call us down so we can enjoy seeing these four finally getting the expulsion they deserved since first year." Lucinda added giving Evans a fake smile. Lily turned to glare at the Marauders and James looked like a puppy with its tail between its legs.
Lily then ran a hand through her red locks, "I'm sure it wasn't their intention to cause that much dam-"
Severus snorted making them all look at him, "Really Evans? That's what you're going with? You and I both know the old Lily would've personally asked for their expulsion if something like this occurred to someone you cared about. Salazar, Lily you really changed. At first, I was so obsessed with knowing what made you say yes to Potter. Why you chose him over me? But now I understand. Now I understand why you and James are so perfect for each other. Two incredibly dimwitted, filthy, arrogant, wizards that do not even have an ounce of decency nor compassion in their bodies. You do not see how Astoria was. A fifteen-year-old girl was close to death because of your boyfriend and friends. She had to relieve her brother's death all over again. But you don't even care. You would rather defend this...this lack of a man and these murderous gits than the innocent. I'm ashamed I ever called you a best friend." He exploded and barged away heading towards the infirmary.
The girls could see that James was about to run after Snape more so to demand respect for his girlfriend but Marney pulled him back and gave him the slap he deserved while Lucinda did the same to Sirius.
"Don't like how your girlfriend was being treated? Well, we could do worst. Maybe torment her until she finally leaves her house prejudiced ways or even let her bleed out all the filthy blood inside of her until she's nothing but a body." James glared at the young Slytherin. "Just know us Slytherins aren't scared to bite back. Our bite is poisonous so good luck protecting your house because you just declared war and we don't back down." Marney snapped at the Gryffindors and walked away.
Lucinda glared at the crew before locking eyes with Sirius, "If I were you I would hide. I'm sure Regulus will come and find you soon to pay for what you've done. Imagine your parent's reaction when they hear that you wanted to kill their future daughter-in-law. I'm sure they'll barge into the blood traitor's house and hopefully slaughter them all. But take my advice dear Sirius, Regulus won't be happy with you."
"He's my broth-"
"Really? I thought Potter was? You did leave Regulus alone and headed straight to Potter's house. The only person who was there for him was Astoria. He will never forgive you and that I can promise." She glared at the crew and went to follow Marney towards the infirmary.
"You are bloody idiots. I'm going to have to report this and don't even try to give me those looks. I can try to lessen your punishment but you all brought it upon yourselves. And Sirius." The boy looked up seeing her cold stare. "Fix this." She then stalked away with James at her tail apologizing.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
It's been two days since the incident and currently, Regulus was sitting next to his sleeping fiancee. Her skin finally regained its color. Her lips now back to the beautiful blush he adored. Her body now as warm as her heart.
He couldn't believe how close he was to losing her. The second he saw her eyes closed, her skin blue, and her touch ice-cold, he panicked. She was his angel and he would never be able to lose her.
He's been in the infirmary since she's got there. He hadn't gone to class though Mrs. Pomfrey kept nagging him. He hasn't slept nor showered. He just needed to be with her.
His eyes were now betraying him as he start closing them. His tiredness getting extreme, but he had to pull through. He knew she wouldn't be up for a while so he did the one thing he's been wanting to do: confront his brother.
And let me tell you this after the confrontation Sirius realized that he should've listened to Lucinda, he should've hidden.
Chapter Sixteen
It had been a fool proof prank, a safe but fun one and the marauders certainly didn’t imagine that they would get caught. The marauders were given some sort of respect from the other Hogwarts houses – even the Slytherins – everybody knew to just let the marauders get on with their pranks. Everybody knew that it was fruitless to try and stop them.
It had only meant to be a harmless prank, they had been dropping Dungbombs in the Slytherin corridor, and they made sure not to drop them too close to the Slytherin common room, because they didn’t want to start a full house war. They also made sure to keep themselves hidden, or so they thought. James’ invisibility cloak must have slipped off them without them noticing because when the four boys were on their way back to the common room, they were cornered by McGonagall and were frog marched right into detention.
Sirius bitterly thought that it must have been a swotty first year that had seen them and told on them. The thought made him grind his teeth together angrily, he could have been spending time with Y/N, and now he was wasting time by being in detention. James and Peter would be having detention with McGonagall while Sirius and Remus were going to be having detention with Slughorn. Sirius did feel bad for Remus though, he knew that Remus hadn’t wanted to go through with their prank.
Slughorn had them sorting out rotten Flubberworms which made Sirius gag and he forced back the urge to vomit all over the table. He glanced over at Remus who had an intense look of annoyance on his face. Sirius bit into his bottom lip and he knew that he had to say something.
“I’m sorry Remus, I know that you didn’t want to go through with the prank, its cutting into time that you could have been spending time with Morgana,” he sighed, “how are things going between the two of you?”
Remus licked his bottom lip nervously as he wiped his hands on his pants, “well um, she thinks that she’s no good for me which is complete bollocks by the way because she’s amazing. I don’t know why she thinks that she’s no good for me. She,” he hesitated as he bounced his leg nervously, “she tells me that she wants to be with me but she can’t because there are things that I don’t know about her. But, I won’t stop fighting for her, not when I’ve got secrets of my own and her secret can’t be worse than mine,” he nodded, suddenly looking determined.
Sirius smiled serenely, his best friend was the best person he knew and he was certain that Remus deserved the world. He hoped that everything would work itself out soon, “I’m sorry that things aren’t great right now, truly I am. But, you should never stop fighting for the people you care about,” Sirius only wished that he could take his own advice.
Remus grinned thankfully at Sirius and they both got back to work, the heavy awkward silence that had once filled the dungeons quickly evaporated. Sirius held his breath to try and ward off the rotten stench of the Flobberworms and after what felt like a hundred years, Slughorn finally let the two boys go.
As Remus and Sirius walked back to the common room, they chatted and chuckled about what the Quidditch team would be like the following year. They both knew that there was no way it would be as good as it was this year. Remus trailed off as they both noticed that Regulus was walking towards them, the short curls on his head bounced as he strode over to them with purpose.
“I need to talk with you brother,” his eyes flashed with anger and for one startling moment, Regulus looked so much like their mother.
Remus warily looked at Sirius with his hazel eyes wide, “I’ll meet you back at the common room.”
Sirius nodded and as Remus walked away, he turned to look at his little brother, “what do you want to talk about Reg?” Sirius asked as he casually slouched against the stone wall, narrowing his eyes.
“I presume that Y/N has told you the news has she?”
Sirius’ eyes quickly flashed with hurt before he adopted a teasing smirk, “yes, I know all about Y/N having to marry you. Poor Y/N,” joking about it made Sirius feel a lot better.
Regulus sighed in frustration as he raked a hand through his curls, “you need to stop it Sirius, as my brother, you just need to stop. I know that you have feelings for Y/N,” when Sirius scoffed, Regulus continued, “I see the way you look at her when you think that no one else can see you. You look at her like she’s all you’ve ever wanted.”
For once, Sirius just listened to his brother, Regulus was in fact telling the truth about how Sirius felt but Regulus could never know that, “I don’t have feelings for Y/N,” Sirius lied, “but even if I did, what does it matter to you? You’re in an arranged marriage with her Reg; it’s hardly the most romantic thing in the world.”
“It’s not just an arranged marriage to me, I have feelings for her. Real feelings.”
“Reg,” Sirius breathed, his brother’s words knocked the wind out of him and he fought hard to keep his composure. Suddenly, Regulus’ eyes filled up with tears and Sirus was immediately reminded of a little boy who would crawl into his older brother’s bed when he had had a nightmare. Sirius wanted to hug his brother tightly but he knew that it would give him away. All Sirius could do was regard him warily.
“Look, Sirius, you can get any damned girl that you want. Why does it have to be the girl I love?” Please, just let me love her and let her love me.”
This time Sirius couldn’t stop the tears so he had to look away from his brother, “you love Y/N, do you?” he fought to keep the tears out of his voice.
“Yes I do. Please let her be, I’m begging you.”
Sirius shook his head, “you don’t have to worry about me Reg.”
“I hope not,” he sighed, “I just wanted you to know how I felt,” Sirius felt a gentle hand on his shoulder and he heard footsteps retreating.
When he heard his brother’s footsteps fade he finally let the hot tears escape his eyes and slip down his cheeks. He quickly slapped a hand over his mouth the muffle his sobs as he sank to the floor, shaking as sobs wracked his body, he never wanted it to hurt this much. He was at a crossroads; he was always supposed to look out for his baby brother. Though, how could he when Regulus got to live out the rest of his days with Y/N? Sirius spent a lot of time weighing up the pros and cons of his decision and by the time he returned to the common room he knew what he was going to do.
As the portrait hole swung open, Y/N looked up from where she was doing homework with Lily. She smiled beautifully, though it faltered slightly when she looked at him and Sirius could only imagine how he must have looked. It must have been obvious that he’d been crying.
Y/N pulled him into a hug, kissing his cheek as she did so before whispering into his ear, “is everything alright beautiful?”
Sirius wanted to tell her everything but he knew that it wasn’t fair on her so he settled for a lie, he pulled away from her and smiled, “I’m fine.”
Y/N nodded though she didn’t look convinced as she pulled him over to sit with their friends. As Sirius sat down next to Remus, Remus smiled at him sympathetically and offered him a piece of chocolate. Sirius chuckled lightly – chocolate was Remus’ solution to everything – and he smiled gratefully as he popped the chocolate into his mouth.
“So,” James started as he threw an arm around Lily’s shoulders, “what are the plans for the next Hogsmeade trip?”
Lily laughed, “well, I don’t know what you guys are doing but we’re having a girly day,” she threw Y/N a meaningful look, “Morgana is welcome too Remus, we want to get to know her better.”
“Thanks Lily, I’ll mention it to her. I’m sure that she’ll appreciate it,” Remus smiled and Sirius glanced over at Y/N.
She was smiling at Lily but the smile didn’t reach her eyes and they weren’t sparkling like they usually did. It was obvious that she was feeling less than enthusiastic about the girly day. He wanted to hold her hand and tell her that everything was going to be okay.
-----------------------------------
The ivory silk flowed down your body like rippling water, it was so soft and it made you feel like a princess, it made you feel so beautiful. You turned to the side and looked back at your reflection in the mirror, the train was about an inch long and the wedding veil fell to your feet. The only things that you weren’t crazy about were the colour and it had some bone button fastenings in the back, you’d prefer a corseted bodice.
“Are you ready Y/N?” you heard Alice call from the other side of the curtain.
You nodded and then realised that your friends couldn’t see you, “I’m coming out now,” you took a deep shaky breath as you stood down from the step and quickly opened up the curtain. As you stood in front of your friends, Lily gasped as she teared up and sobbed into the tissues she’d brought with her, she had told you that she was going to cry. Alice rubbed Lily’s back as she beamed brightly at you.
It was only Morgana who said anything, she’d been a great help through all this wedding dress shopping, “you look beautiful Y/N, that dress looks like it was made for you,” she smiled.
“Thank you Morgana, I shouldn’t say this too soon but I think that this is the one. It only needs a few minor adjustments,” you giggled as you performed a little twirl for your friends. Lily sniffled as she gave you a tight hug, you laughed as you hugged her back.
When she pulled away, you glanced out of the window and you saw Sirius walking with the rest of the marauders. He too glanced up from outside and he froze in place, his mouth dropping open slightly as he looked you up and down. You smiled and gave him a shy little wave, but instead of waving back he guiltily shifted his gaze back to his friends and they carried on walking up the high street.
Lily who had been watching this whole exchange merely sighed, “come on, why don’t you get changed? Then we can go to The Three Broomsticks.”
The weather was finally getting a little bit warmer so you could sit outside, the warm Butterbeer warming your insides as the buds on the cherry blossom tree overhead grew. Sirius had been acting funny – you were pretty used to it by now – he wouldn’t look at you for more than a couple of seconds. He also kept on shifting his gaze like he was guilty and hiding something. What was so bad that he couldn’t tell you? He knew that you were always going to be there for him, no matter what it cost you. It had been his round and he hadn’t come out of the pub for a little while and you were kind of worried so you wanted to check on him.
“I’m going to see if Sirius needs help with the drinks,” you smiled casually as you began to rise from your seat and your friends smiled at you. James’ smile looked the most forced by far. You walked inside the warm pub, it wasn’t bustling as it usually was and you could see Sirius standing at the bar with the full round of drinks, “come on now, you don’t want the Butterbeer to get cold do you?” you joked.
Sirius glanced up at you, his lips twitching into a small smile, “I’m sorry,” he looked back down at the tray of drinks.
“Hey, I was joking. Butterbeer is nice hot or cold!” you smiled as you placed a hand on his shoulder.
Sirius sighed as he closed his eyes and pinched the bridge of his nose, “I’m not talking about the drinks. You looked so beautiful in that wedding dress and I’m sorry,” he mumbled as he picked up the tray and began to walk away.
“What are you sorry for Sirius? What do you possibly have to be sorry about?” you followed him, nervously squeezing between two vampires.
Sirius whirled around to stare at you and you marvelled at how he managed not to slosh the drinks, it looked like he was going to give you a proper answer. Though, he only shrugged and gave you one of his usual dazzling smiles, “never mind sweetheart. It’s not important.”
Though you couldn’t shake the feeling that something was wrong, it was like when he had come back to the common room about three weeks ago and he had red around his eyes, it looked like he’d been crying. What was he enduring and why couldn’t he tell you about it?
                                             June 30th 1997
I stood there, looking at the Regulus Black, the boy who I had thought was dead for almost twenty years, standing infront of me, he had aged, his hair was shorter than when I had last seen him. His eyes were tearful, looking at me, without a smile. His hair was wet and curled, and was wearing a black jumper and jeans, something I had never seen him wear, but Harry.
Looking over to Remus, he was sitting on the couch, his eyebrows were frowned and the creases from his forehead were outlines. His foot was tapping on the ground, the nervous pattern, his hands rubbing together, his eye contact moved from Sirius to I, over and over again.
Harry was sitting on the couch, confused, looking over at Remus, then at Sirius, Regulus then I, repeating that pattern. His bags were placed infront of him. clearly just getting home, still wearing his uniform, he had clearly been crying recently, his bags under his eyes almost black, noticeable.
Then my eyes fell on Sirius, who had his head in his hands, bend down, I could hear his faint weeps coming from him. His feet tapped the ground hardly, making most of the noise from the room, his nice tame hair before leaving the house was now a complete mess, strands sticking out everywhere, one stand falling right infront.
“I can’t do this, I really can’t do this,” I whimpered running up the stairs, as I got into my room I locked the door, falling down and placing my hands on my face, uncontrollable tears fell down and the whimpers I tried to keep in were now the loudest thing in the house.
“Aunt Stella, let me in please, I can explain,” Harry's faint voice said over my whimpers, my whole body had failed, falling to the ground, unable to move, “That’s Regulus, he told me, he was dead, but,” Harry started saying, but was cut off as I raised my fist, punching the wall in angry.
I stood up now, swinging my door open and looking up at Harry who was taller then me. “Go away, go away, please,” I pleaded, tears dripped onto my bare feet, soaking my shirt.
“I found him, please let me tell you what happened,” Harry started saying, I hesitated for a second, but closed my door and taking my wand out. “Colloportus,” I whispered then dropped my wand.
“This is a joke right,” I whispered leaning against my door, Harry was still standing there. “He’s not real, I just drunk so much i’m dreaming, right, am I right?” I asked.
“It’s real,” It wasn’t Harry's voice this time, but Regulus standing on the other side of the door. “I died Stella, or well, I was half dead, I tried coming back but it wasn’t possible, until Harry saved me the last night,”
“No, it’s not real, Regulus died in nineteen seventy nine, he’s been dead for twenty years,” I whispered leaning my head on the door and closing my eyes. “I’m dreaming, this isn’t real,” I whispered to myself.
“Move, everyone leave, move!” I heard Sirius shout, I unlocked my door quickly, letting him in then locking my door once more
“What have you done to the firewhisky,” Sirius said tossing his hands on his head. “This can’t be real, that is my brother, we can’t be having the same dream, i’m panicking!” Sirius shouted pacing around my room.
Nothing came out of my mouth, the harder I tried to form any word the tighter my chest felt.
My door opened once more, Remus walked in, looking at the both of us, I could tell he was speechless as well, from the both of us.
“Or maybe the house blew up and we’re all dead,” Sirius said running his hands through his air again and again.
“This is real,” Remus said, both Sirius and I shot our eyes in his direction, the door opened once more, Harry walked in, then Regulus, who looked all around the room, then at Sirius, then me.
“You git!” I screamed running forward, Remus grabbed me as I tossed my hands forward towards Regulus who didn’t back away. “What the hell are you doing here, what happened, you died!” I cried out, Remus pinned my arms back, my body went limp once more, Remus held me tight against him.
“I died, yeah,” Regulus said rubbing the back of his head. “I’m not really sure how it happened either, but the first face I saw was his,” Regulus pointed his finger at Harry who stood leaning against the wall.
“I don’t know what happened either,” Harry complained tossing his hands in the air, landing at his sides. “I was drowning, then saw him at the bottom, then Dumbledore set fire to the inferies, and when I got up the shore, he was laying there, I recognized him from your pictures Aunt Stella,”
“Bloody hell,” Sirius cried out quickly walking over to Regulus and wrapping his arms around Regulus, I looked away leaning my head back on Remus, unsure of how to feel about all this, still thinking off all this as a dream.
“Stella,” Remus said grabbing my hands that rested on my stomach. “Are you okay?” He whispered blocking everyone else out.
“I think i’m gonna get sick,” I whimpered moving my hands away from my stomach and running out of the room, I swung the bathroom door open and collapsed on the floor, every time i’d vomit my throat burnt and my stomach cramped.
“Hey I got you,” Remus whispered behind me, I felt him take my hair and tie it up. “This is the worst part about getting sober, your halfway there,” I smiled at his remart then threw up once more.
“What’s wrong with her?” I heard from the door, I picked up Remus’ wand that laid on the ground and swung the door closed as my body took a break from puking.
“Just tell Harry i’m sick, please don’t tell him i’ve been drinking,” I whispered looking up at Remus who smiled down at me.
“Yeah, yeah, stand up, i’ve got you,” Remus’ arm slipped under mine, helping me up, we walked over to the sink and I just leaned over closing my eyes.
“I think i’m just gonna lay down, this is just a awful dream right?” I partially asked leaning off the counter and looking at the three boys who stood in the hallway talking.
“Aunt Stella,” Harry started to say but I completely ignored him, walking into my room and slamming my door and using my wand that laid on the floor to lock it.
“Why does she only listen to you?” I heard form outside the door, I leaned and listened.
“She doesn’t just listen to me, she listens to everyone, but right now, she doesn’t wanna listen to anyone because she’s in shock, your supposed to be dead,” I heard Remus hiss.
“She can’t even look me in my eyes, I thought she would be happy to see me, or at least say something,”
“She hasn’t dated, kiss, or hooked up with anyone since your death, she just recently got over it, and you show up well she’s in the middle of the worst year of her life and you’ve probably screwed with her head more!” Sirius was the one to chime in now.
My fists hit the door once again, I felt my pulse rise in my chest, leaning my forehead against the door and letting out silent tears. My hand fell on the doorknob, the light from the hallway fell on my face as I looked at the four boys who stood in the hallway.
I moved myself out of the way, looking at Regulus, who looked at everyone else then walked into my room. My door shut and I didn’t face him for a second, unsure of what I was going to say.
“Stella can I start by saying,” Regulus started but I raised my hands in the air and turned to face him.
“How are you alive?” My throat hurt with every word I spoke.
“I was never dead, half dead really, the Inferies don’t kill the people they catch, most of the time,” Regulus gripped the bottom of his black sweater, pulling up his shirt, revealing his scared torso.
“Regulus,” I whimpered closing my eyes for a second then opening them up. “I don’t know what to say,”
“Hug me Stella, please,” He walked forward towards me, before he had gotten half way, I stepped forward enough and wrapped my arms around his warm shoulders, his arms wrapped around my body tight gripping me towards him.
“I love you Regulus, so much, why would you leave me,” I whimpered holding myself as close as I could get to him. “I love you,” I repeated.
“Stella, I love you so much, I had to do it, I knew what would happen but if I didn’t,” Regulus paused moving his head off my shoulder.
“Then why did you do it, why did you leave me, you caused me so much pain Regulus, I was so,” I paused moving my head off his shoulder and looking at his face.
“I’m back, I am, I told you that whatever may happen to me, that we’d always find our way back to each other,” Regulus placed both his hands on my face and just smiled, his eyes still dropping tears.
“Can we come in now?” We heard from the door, I laughed leaning my head forward falling on Regulus shoulder, wrapping my arms around him.
“Yes you can come in,” Regulus chuckled slightly, wrapping his arms around me, the door swung open and two pairs of arms wrapped around us.
“We have a dinner to prepare for,” I whispered almost suffocated at the tightness the three boys were hugging me with.
“Dinner,” Sirius and Remus both said at the same time, I smiled thinking back to this morning, where everything was normal, my dead boyfriend was dead, Harry was coming home alone and the boys were gonna propose to each other.
The Surprise
“Hey, Black wait up!”, trainer Weasley shouted completely out of breath trying to keep up with the captain. Sirius slowly turned in front of his car looking back at his trainer completely drained in sweat. He started laughing and looked confused at Arthur.
What could he want from him after training? Was it something important?
Something about Remus having to leave the team? He got scared for a moment but when his trainer smiled back at him, he started to relax again.
“So, you know…” Arthur started but stopped himself quickly looking around the parking garage, anxiously trying to find something. After what seamed like an eternity he finally looked up. “So, we all saw Remus play at familyskate last year and I..” he stopped again looking around searching for something. He even ducked a bit to look under the cars. Sirius who couldn’t keep it together laughed at his trainer ducking in front of him, almost crawling on the floor. Black finally decided to say something, “What is it Arthur, just spit it out.”. “So”, he laughed “Well, Remus went home already, right?”. “Yeah, he left hours ago”, Sirius replied.
“Okay”, Weasley said, clearly relaxing a bit “Well, so, we can’t keep Remus as our PT anymore, the league, they, they won’t allow it, but…” Sirius couldn’t stay silent at that “They are gonna throw him out because he’s gay? What the actual fuck, he’s gonna lose his job because of love? What even is the league? What do they want from us? Can’t they just shut up and let us live our lifes?”… he could have continued for ages, screaming at his own trainer.
But Arthur reached forward grabbing the captains’ shoulder. The touch stopped Sirius from screaming, he looked up, his eyes filled with tears and anger. After a few moments Arthur started again “but there is an opening on our team, I’ve talked to the lions management they are willing to give Remus a position…..”
He was stopped by Sirius letting out a loud scream. Arthur could have sworn anyone who was still at the rink was able to hear it. Sirius who couldn’t believe it asked “is this real? Is this really happening?”.
“Yes, it is. He’s gonna stay whit us” Weasley said clearly relieved by Sirius’ reaction and then it had already happened coach was rapped up in a tight hug not able to feel any of this body.
“Could you..” he breathed out, feeling a bit dizzy from the lack of air in his lungs. Sirius understood and quickly let go of his coach.
Black couldn’t believe his luck he was gonna play on the same team as his boyfriend. They were going to be out there together. He couldn’t believe it everything he dreamt of since familyskate was coming true. He wasn’t alone anymore they would train side by side, always together. He stopped his mind circle to look at Arthur
“You haven’t told him?”. “No, I haven’t, I wanted to wait for the right time. Well,… I couldn’t find a time to tell him so…, do you have any idea when and where I should tell him?” Sirius who still couldn’t believe his luck simply breathed out “wedding”. But Arthur knew exactly what he meant, everyone would be in a good mood and it would suit the occasion to celebrate.
As Sirius returned home that day, he had a really hard time trying to not ruin the surprise. Seeing his boyfriend looking sad but trying to hide it by overreacting to the jokes on the TV-show they were watching, made it even harder for Sirius. He really didn’t like seeing Remus this sad. They hadn’t actually talked about Remus leaving the Lions but they both new it was about to happen. Well now Sirius new more but he really didn’t want to ruin the surprise for his boyfriend. Only a week to go he told himself, only seven days and he’ll know. Only 9 days till you can skate with him, at the rink, at practise, with your team, your team that now included Remus. He started smiling into the air, he must have looked really really stupid but he didn’t care and only stopped when Remus asked him if he was alright. Sirius turned towards him maybe a bit to abrupt and his boyfriend shrug back.
Both of them started laughing at that and Sirius pulled Remus into his arms tucking him closely to his side. He just needed to feel his boyfriend close, he needed this so he could believe what coach had just told him.
The week could not have gone by slower. Practise after practise and there was the time Sirius had to spend alone with Remus. He had already almost ruined the surprise three times by Wednesday.
He barely stopped himself from a fourth time on Friday. The whole team was sitting the lockerroom starring at the empty stall next to Sirius. No one knew who it was for. Coach had decided to surprise the whole team, well he didn’t trust the cubs with any information that should be kept secret. So there they all were wondering who the new player would be. The cubs came up with Regulus or Krupin but no one thought it would be Remus. Well Sirius shock his had to all of their answers, this must have looked really suspicious because Finn stared at him with a smirk “You know who it is. Don’t you cap”. “Well, it is…” he was silenced by coach Weasley walking over to him and asking him questions about this new technique he wanted to try out. They both knew that this new technique wouldn’t work but it definitely worked as a distraction to Finn, who had already turned around and was now kissing Logan.
The practise went by and Sirius new that tomorrow would be the day coach would tell Remus, the day he could finally share his excitement with the whole team especially with his boyfriend, with his teammate boyfriend.
Sirius hadn’t slept a minute he had held Remus tight in his arms trying not make any movement. He still couldn’t believe it, today would be the day… the day Remus would officially become a part of the Lions. A part of his team Sirius thought and smiled. He got out of bed carefully shoving the sleeping Remus of his chest. He heard a little grumbling coming from his boyfriend which made him chuckle on the way to the shower.
When he came out of the bathroom Remus was still sleeping. Sirius loved how his boyfriend looked when he was sleeping, he looked so innocent and cute. For a moment Sirius thought about just getting back to bed, snuggling up to his boyfriend but then it came to his mind again the !wedding!. He grabbed a pillow and threw it at Remus who immediately started laughing. Remus sat up and playfully threw a pillow into his boyfriends’ direction.
Sirius laughed and then said in a more serious tone “You got to get ready mon loup. You don’t want to be late for your best friends’ wedding, do you?” His boyfriend rolled out of their bed and got to his feet still looking a little wonky on his feet. Sirius walked over to him and wrapped him into his arms, kissing him softly. “You better go shower” he said. Remus grumbled but slowly slipped out of his boyfriends’ arms and went to the bathroom.
An hour later both of them were outside getting into the car. “You look amazing, baby”, Remus said as he watched Sirius start the car and drive them out onto the street.
The time they arrived at the location of Lillis and James wedding everyone was already there. They walked to their seats both blushing at the fact they managed to be late to one of the most important days this year.
Once the ceremony had started everything went super fast, rings were exchanged and the first kiss was given to the bride. The longer Sirius sat next to Remus the more anxious he got. When would coach tell him? How long would he have to keep it a secret still? The ceremony ended and the whole party was moved to a large room, beautifully decorated with lots of flowers.
Sirius looked at Remus who was smiling over both ears, he could have sworn the last time he saw him that happy was when they had won the cup. But Sirius didn’t care he knew that most of his sadness would be gone after today. All of the sadness due to having to leave the team would be gone at least Sirius thought and smiled back at his boyfriend who was looking at him now. He leaned down and gave him a kiss.
The wedding was almost over when coach Weasley finally walked over to them and asked to talk to Remus. After what seemed like ages to Sirius Remus came back smiling even brighter than before. “Did,… did you know?” his boyfriend breathed not knowing how to really talk at the moment. Sirius just wrapped his arms around him and smiled. Of course he knew.
Remus pulled Sirius out of the main room and into the corridor leading to the hotelrooms all of the wedding guests were staying in. They reached their room a few seconds later Sirius stopped in front of their door pushing Remus against it. He whispered into Remus’ air “How does it feel to be a Lion, mon loup”. His boyfriend just looked up and kissed Sirius hardly. They basically fell into their room because Remus who was still pressed against the door tried to open it with his free hand and well it didn’t work out as planed.
They finally parted after a few more kisses and Sirius reached into his suitcase pulling out a square package wrapped in christmaswrappingpaper (there you go it is a secretsanta story so somewhere needs to be christmas right) Remus smiled “What is that?”, his boyfriend just sat down next to him on the bed and handed him the package. Sirius couldn’t keep his excitement in “open it, open it already loops” Remus clearly confused started to tear open the package and into his hands fell a Lions-jersey with his name on it. With Lupin and the number 6 on it, it wasn’t like the one every staff member got no it was different it was his, his own with his name and number. He started crying, this made it feel real, he was going to be a lion just like Sirius he would be on the same teams as Sirius. He took the jersey and held it to his heart, this mean so much to him.
Sirius laughed at his sobbing boyfriend, then leaned in and whispered “You better wear it for me, non”. <3
pt 2 to it’s over isn’t it
(Only because I love them too much to see the suffer)
Regulus lived out his adult life and is now in a retiring home where he watches Disney movies with the teenagers who volunteer here. Regulus likes it a lot. He’s used to being on his own anyway. Sirius died a couple of years back and Remus died a couple of months after that. Regulus likes to think that Remus just could not live in a world where Sirius Black was not in. Regulus was still here and it was as nice as being alone could be. Well, he wasn’t as alone as he makes himself out to be. Harry and Ginny and their children would often visit him on the weekends and sometimes Ron and Hermione would tag along as well. Today was Saturday and in came the Potters. Ginny said she would take the kids to eat while Harry talked to Regulus. Which Regulus thought was odd, but didn’t question it.
“Papa! Hey how are you doing?”
“Harry oh darling I’m fine. How are you”
Harry sat dragged a chair to be by Regulus bed and was looking pretty serious. Regulus frowned and took Harry’s hand. Harry smiled a bit before a frown took over again.
“There’s just this one thing I need to ask you. I’ve had this question since I was 16.”
“Ok...whats the question Harry?”
Harry took a deep breath before looking into Regulus eyes. Harry’s eyes were filled with sadness and this whole interaction wasn’t making sense to Regulus. What was happening?
“Did you have a crush on my biological dad? It’s just the way you talk about my birth dad is the same way I talk about Ginny, and the same way Ron talks about Hermione.” Regulus can’t hold the truth from Harry anymore. Regulus doesn’t know when he’s gonna die but he knows it soon. So he gives him an answer.
“That’s a...tricky thing to answer. Well I guess you could say yes. We dated for a year before in joined the death eaters by my parents will. Once I came to my senses and fled it had been to late. Your father was with your mother.” Regulus already felt the tears and but he shook them away and sat up a bit squeezing Harry’s hand. “I was too late and I saw how happy Lily made James and I couldn’t come between that. He much happier with Lily then he was with me. So I just became his close friend. It’s pathetic i know, but I just wanted to feel close to him even though he wasn’t mine anymore. I wanted him to be happy more than anything in this world...I still do.” Harry had tears running down his cheeks and he leaned forward planting his elbows into the mattress.
“Regulus Arcturus Black you are not pathetic...you’re in love.” Regulus rolled his eyes out of habit but Harry kept going. “ You loved my dad so much you let him be happy with someone else. You’re so strong. I don’t think I’d ever be able to just see Ginny happy with someone else everyday.”
“Be thankful you never have to deal with that. It’s the worse type of pain. One that for me never went away.”
“Is that why you never dated anyone? My whole life I’ve never seen you dating anyone.” Regulus laughed because merlin knows he’s tried.
“I’ve been on some yes...none of them felt right. Ugh I must sound like Snape going on about Lily” Harry snickered but quickly assured Regulus he’s nothing like snape.
“Im glad you told me papa” Regulus smiled and Ginny returned with the kids and everything was alright.
~~~~
It was Sunday morning and the whole family was sitting at the table eating their breakfast and talking. The phone rang and Ginny went to answer it.
“Hello is this the Potter residence?”
“Yes it is who is this?”
“Oh sorry this is the retiring home your relative is at a mister....Regulus Black?”
“Oh yes! That’s my father in law”
“Yes, sadly he passed away last night. I’m so sorry for your loss.”
“Oh...thank you” Ginny hung up the phone, and quickly wiped the tears from her eyes. Harry would depend on her during this hard time and she needed to be strong for him. She decided to tell Harry and then they’d tell the kids together. She sat back down and said the call was from some kid playing a telephone prank.
After breakfast Ginny pulled Harry into their bedroom and sat him on the bed.
“Ginny? What’s wrong?” She sat down on his lap and wrapped her his shoulders.
“Harry the call at breakfast wasn’t from a prank caller.”
“Ok...who was it from then?”
“...the retirement home”
“Oh did we forgot something while visiting pa?”
“No honey...Regulus died last night” Harry got pale and was stiff. The tears already welling up in his eyes.
“He died? No...they’re lying” Ginny pulled him into a hug rubbing soothing circles into his back.
“Why would they lie about something like that love?”
“I don’t know! They just have to be lying he can’t....he can’t be dead. He can’t be dead he’s my dad” Harry wrapped his arms around Ginny’s waist hugging her back and it was such a tight hug but Ginny didn’t dare say anything.
~~~~~~~~
Regulus fell asleep in the retirement home and woke up in a white room. A weird lady with short blue hair showed him around and dropped him off at some weird common place. There were so many people around him he was a bit overwhelmed. He missed Harry he knew Harry was going to be devastated once he found out. A weird parting was formed and he saw Harry sobbing and Ginny hugging and comforting him.
“Oh don’t cry darling please. I love you so much Harry so please don’t cry too much.”
~~~~~
Afterlife wasn’t so bad James found it kinda freeing no more stupid war. He did terribly miss the people who were still alive. He missed Sirius like crazy. He wanted to be able to raise his son with his wife and for baby Harry to have a nice family. That dream basically went to shit when both James and Lily died. They watched over Harry from above and were pleasantly surprised when Regulus took Harry in. James missed Regulus a lot...a lot more than he should for being just friends with him.
Lily and James were both looking down at their own funerals when they both heard Regulus love confession about James to Remus. Lily was sad for a bit because she knew that James was still in love with Regulus. She knew and she wanted James to be happy so she let him go. They’re still the best of friends no bad blood between them.
James was just walking around aimlessly as one does when they’re bored when he paused. He heard something familiar but couldn’t place it. James being the gryffindor he is went after the sound and found a man sitting and looking down. He was muttering to himself and was shaking.
“...please don’t cry darling everything’s gonna be ok Harry”
James’ eyes went wide as the realization struck.
“...Regulus?” Regulus turned quickly because he could never forget that voice.
“James” for a second it was just them standing there looking at each other like the other wasn’t real. James couldnt take it and pulled him into a hug burrying his nose into Regulus’ neck to just breathe him in. Hot tears landed on him and Regulus was hugging him really tightly.
“Baby shhh it’s ok you’re alright now.” The crying seemed to increase by that sentence and James could do nothing more than say comforting words and rub his back.
“baby? what happened to lily?”
“Ah the whole death do us part kinda took its course now we’re apart as in not dating not married. We kinda realized we aren’t a match for each other.”
“Oh well in that case...”
James smirked his hands rose up to cradle regulus’ head in his hands.
“in that case?”
“I’m in love with you have been for a while.” James laughed squeezing Regulus face together.
“I can’t believe you didn’t tell me sooner Reggie because I love you too...I don’t think I’ve ever stopped loving you” Regulus looked so happy and he was. Regulus was insanely happy because James loves him. James loves Regulus.
“Can I kiss you?” James nodded and so they kissed and Regulus never felt as happy as he does right now. Who knew that dying would get him and James back together.

Chapter 33: Epilogue
July 1997
Regulus leaned as flat to the handle of his broom as he could.  Laughing, he squinted his eyes against the sun and wind.  He kept his eye on the tree in the distance that was the goal, but he could see Draco to his right.  Leaning forward, he urged the broom as fast it could go.  The tree came closer and closer until he braked as hard as he could without throwing himself off of the broom and he landed hard, but on his feet.  Draco was staggering upright when Regulus glanced over.
“I won,” Regulus said.
“You absolutely did not,” Draco said, and used the hem of his shirt to wipe sweat from his face.
“I’m pretty sure,” Regulus said with a laugh.  He knew that there was no way to tell who had actually won.
Draco shoved him lightly, and they both laughed.  Regulus ran a hand through his hair to get it out of his face.  Picking up their brooms, they started back towards the manor.  Regulus listened to Draco complain about how much work he’d had to help his friends, Crabbe and Goyle, study for finals with only minimal laughter.  It seemed that Goyle, at least, had inherited his father’s intelligence.
“It’s a miracle they passed their O.W.L.s last year, really,” Draco told him.
“Goyle,” Regulus said, “The one I went to school with, only got one O.W.L. and his father had to bribe the Ministry so he could retake them.  He spent the entire summer with a private tutor.”
Draco laughed.  “Maybe Goyle’s mother will remember that and get her son a tutor.  He’ll actually need his N.E.W.T.s if he wants to get a job at the ministry.
“Luckily for him, he doesn’t need a brain to work there.”  Using his hand to shade his eyes from the summer sun, Regulus glanced towards the manor.  He could see two figures walking down the path from the gates.  “Looks like Cissy and Iset are back.”
“It’s weird every time you call Mother that.”  Draco made a face as if to emphasize his point.
“Sorry.  You have no idea how weird it would be to call her Mrs. Malfoy.”
“It’s weird,” Draco said.  “Most of the time it’s like you’re a friend who went to Durmstrang or something.  Then you go and say something like that I remember the whole thing.”
“I understand,” Regulus said.  “Sometimes it’s easy to forget.  If I’m with Iset, or you, or the Weasleys.  But then I see Cissy, or Sirius, or someone else and I remember all over again.”
“It’s very strange to hear you talk about the Weasleys.  Everyone always spoke very poorly of them.  Given their politics and such.”
“It was the same for me.  The Prewetts, the Weasleys, the Potters were blacklisted. We didn’t talk to them.  Well, my brother befriended Potter, but he was disowned.  But when I met the Weasleys they were nicer to me than any of the Twenty-Eight ever had been.  I’ve learned that my parents were wrong about a lot of things, and that’s one of them.”
“You two hurry up!” A voice came from the house and both boys looked up.  Narcissa was standing in the doorway.  “Get in here and shower.  I want to have lunch.”
“Yes mother,” Draco grumbled.  Both boys picked up the pace as they moved into the house.  A house-elf brought Regulus his bag and showed him to a guest bathroom.  He showered quickly and was halfway through getting dressed when someone knocked on the door.
“Reg,” Iset’s voice was slightly muffled through the heavy door.  “It’s Iset.  Can I come in?”
“One second,” Regulus said.  He finished buckling his belt and moved towards the door.  He unlocked and opened it. Obviously confused, he asked  “What is it?”
Iset stepped inside and closed the door behind her.  “I got something for you.”
“It couldn’t wait?”  Regulus picked up his undershirt.
“Nope,” Iset gave him a bright smile.  Pushing herself up on her toes, she reached up for a kiss.  Regulus let out a chuckle and leaned down to kiss her.  Her smile turned into a smirk and she rested one hand on his chest.  “Besides, you look good.”
Regulus laughed and pulled the undershirt over his head.  “So what did you get for me?”
Iset raised her free hand.  There was a pink glass vile in it.  She shook it and some sort of liquid moved inside.  A potion of some kind, he guessed.
“And this is?”
“Give me your left hand.”
Regulus held out his hand, caught between curiosity and confusion.  Turning his arm over, Iset exposed the dark mark.  It had faded even further since the Dark Lord’s demise, but it was still definitely there.  Iset opened the bottle and used the dropper to drip some on his arm.  It started out a faint pink color, but it turned the exact color as his skin when it came in contact with him.  Setting down the bottle, Iset used a sponge that she must have had in her pocket to spread the potion over his arm.  Regulus watched as the mark on his arm slowly vanished.  It took a few more applications of the potion, but eventually, it vanished completely.
“There,” Iset said.  Regulus was staring down at his arm, and he couldn’t look away.  Emotions washed through him.  His arm was blank.  It felt as if part of him, a part that had remained attached to the Death Eaters and the Dark Lord and all of their evil, was coming loose.  His eyes started to burn and he realized that tears were forming.  In a single motion, Regulus stepped forward and pulled Iset into his embrace.
“Thank you,” he whispered into her hair.  Her arms encircled him, and she held him tight.  For several moments, his breath was heavy, nearly a sob.
“It’s only temporary,” she said.  “But I’ll find something better.”
Once he had his composure, he pulled back enough that he could look down at her.  “I’m so lucky to have you.”  Leaning down, Regulus kissed her forehead, then he let her go.  “We need to get to lunch or Cissy will lose her mind.”
Iset laughed and let him go.  “I’ll be downstairs.”  She slipped out the door and closed it behind her.
Regulus pulled on his shirt and buttoned it up.  Then, for the first time in years, he rolled up the sleeves.  He stood for another long moment staring down at his arms.  It didn’t seem real, and it didn’t matter that the potion would wash off at the end of the day.  For now, even if just for a few hours, he felt liberated.  He stepped out of the bathroom and moved through the house.  It felt a bit odd to be in this house without being dressed in his dress robes, but Cissy had insisted that they have a casual lunch as it was too hot for a formal one.
Draco was going down the stairs ahead of Regulus, so Regulus jogged a few steps to catch up to him.  He was slightly amused to see that he and Draco were dressed exactly the same except that Draco’s shirt was blue to Regulus’ black.
“Hey, Draco,” Regulus started.  He should have asked Iset about the potion. Draco should have some too.  Maybe Cissy already had some.  Draco turned around, and Regulus saw that he also had his sleeves rolled up.
“Reg.”  His eyes took in Regulus, and he held up his left hand, palm up so that his arm was exposed.  Regulus copied him.  For a second that just stood there.  Then Regulus grabbed Draco’s hand and pulled him into a quick hug.  Draco pounded his back.  They stepped away and Regulus saw the shine of tears in Draco’s eyes.  Regulus turned his attention back down the stairs and the pair started walking.
“It’s,” Regulus said, but he didn’t know what to say.
“Yeah,” Draco said, and the boys smiled at each other.
“Odd not to be wearing robes, isn’t it?”  Regulus changed to a safer topic.
“Definitely,” Draco said as they made their way onto the first floor and across the marble entry hall towards the dining room.  “Father always insisted.”
“Mine as well.”
Draco led the way to the smaller dining room.  The doors to the patio had been opened wide and summer light filled the room.  The white marble floor spilled out from the doors to form a large patio that was surrounded by rose bushes.  Last time Regulus had seen it, it had been transformed into a dance floor for a winter ball.
But now, someone had moved a small table to the patio.  Iset and Narcissa sat at the round iron table under a green umbrella.   Narcissa was saying something to Iset, but they both looked up as the sound of the boys’ footsteps echoed through the dining room.  Iset’s eyes flicked between Draco and Regulus and she smiled, a radiant smile that she didn’t try and hide behind her hand.  Regulus saw in the way her eyes crinkled that Narcissa must be smiling too, but she had pulled up an ivory fan to cover the lower half of her face.
“Mother says that I owe you for this idea,” Draco said, gesturing to his arm.  “I am very grateful.”
“You are very welcome,” Iset said with a small nod.  Before she could say anything else, Narcissa cut in.
“No more talk of such things.” she waved her hand and a house-elf appeared.  It was carrying a large carafe of sangria that was full of fresh fruit and cold enough that condensation rolled down the side.  “I hear that you have a job now, Reg?”
“Yes,” Regulus said.  “I was able to get an interview with Gringotts.  It was difficult as they seemed to be somehow aware that my documents had been altered.  But a friend of mine recommended me.  It was quite strange, I must admit.  It’s not something I ever considered, and Father is surely rolling over in his grave at the thought of it.  But I can’t stand to sit in Grimmauld Place and tend the investments all day.”
“Curse breaking, though.  It’s dangerous.” Narcissa tapped her fan against her chin.  “I’m certain that you could have gotten a position at the Ministry.”
“Probably.”  Regulus picked up his glass so that he had something to do with his hands.  “I plan on applying for a job there later, maybe in ten years.  But for now, it’s nice to do something that I am uniquely suited for.”
“Well,” Narcissa said, and Regulus could tell that she didn’t entirely approve.  “You are your own man.  Still, remember that you are the head of the House of Black now.”  She pointed her fan at him.  “I expect you to uphold our reputation.  And Draco,” she turned to her son,  “don’t get any mad ideas about copying him.”
“Of course not, mother,” he responded instantly.
“Oh,” Regulus said, remembering something.  “Cissy, you should know that the Black Family Country Home is, for now, Sirius’ property.  Now that he has been cleared of his crimes, he can legally own the place.  I certainly can’t stand him staying in Grimmauld Place with me.”
The Summer Home, or Summer Estate, had been Cissy’s childhood home.  He felt like she should know that it was back in the hands of the Family.
“I do hope he takes good care of it,” was all she said.
“I’ve convinced him to box up all the things he doesn’t want instead of throwing them away.  I’ll take them and put them in storage, or sell them.  You are welcome to any of it, of course.”
“Very generous of you,” Narcissa responded with practiced grace.  The house-elves had arrived with plates of chilled sandwiches.
There was silence as they ate with only the sound of glasses clinking against the table.  When they finished their sandwiches, Narcissa motioned for the house-elves and they swept away their dishes and brought out a lemon tart.
“You know,” Iset said.  “I need to thank you again, Narcissa, for allowing me to be legally adopted into your family.  I finally received the notice from the Ministry that I can do the British qualification test for Certification in Magical Theory.  Though, I must say that the phrase ‘Iset Malfoy’ was never something I thought I would see.”
Everyone at the table chuckled.
“It’s nothing, dear,”  Narcissa said.  “I owe you and Regulus a great deal.  It’s a small thing to add you to our family records.”
“I’m still surprised at how easy it was to change everything,” Regulus said.  “A friend of a friend in the Department for Magical Records just changed my birthdate and removed the record of my death with the appropriate spells.  It was a bit trickier for Iset of course; an entirely new file had to be created.  Still, it was done in just a day and an entirely new legal person was created.  The Ministry’s records are all connected so that they only had to access the main record.”
“Well,” Draco said.  “It’s common knowledge that the ministry is entirely incompetent.”  This was met by another round of chuckles.  The group fell into silence as they enjoyed the dessert. When Narcissa finished, she pushed her plate to the center and got to her feet.
“I think that I will lie down for a bit.  The heat is too much for me.  Draco, your cheeks are turning pink.  Were you outside all morning without a sun potion? Get inside and put some burn reversal potion on at once, or your skin will peel.  Do you want sun damage?  Honestly.”  With that, Narcissa strode into the house and out of sight.
Draco, whose cheeks were, in fact, turning redder by the second, gave Regulus a chagrined look and got to his feet.
“I’d best do as she says.  I’ll see you two another day.  Reg, I’m the captain of the team next year, so I’ll need you here to practice with me as often as possible.”  His words were formal, but there was an easy smile on his face.
“Of course,” Regulus replied, “I’m happy to help the Slytherin quidditch team.”
Draco started walking back through the dining room, but he paused before he got to the doors. “Mother says you are welcome to wander through the gardens.  She particularly recommends the roses.”  With that, he followed his mother into the house.
Regulus got to his feet and offered Iset his hand, “Should we take a walk?”
“That sounds nice,” Iset took his hand as she stood.  Regulus kept hold of her hand as they walked across the white marble until they reached the wall of rose bushes and a path made of crushed white stone.
“We’re expected at the burrow for dinner tonight, right?” Regulus asked as they walked through waist-high hedges blooming with small white flowers.
“Yes,” Iset leaned into Regulus a bit as she spoke.  “Mrs. Weasley seems to have decided that we should come every Sunday.  Tonks as well.”
“I still can’t believe that we were invited to Bill and Fleur’s wedding.”
“You know, I’ve never been to a British wedding.”
“I’ve been to plenty,” Regulus rubbed the back of his neck.  “Though, I hazard a guess that theirs will be quite different to the ones that I am used to.  To start, Bill and Fleur actually love each other.”
“I suppose so,”  Iset mused.  “It’s weird.” Iset stopped talking, but Regulus knew what she was thinking about.
“Their lives are so different.  I always resented those people a bit, during school.    I knew… well, I knew that I was going to have to marry someone I didn’t love.  Love was never supposed to be part of the equation.”
They had crossed through into the rose gardens.  The air was perfumed by the flowers around them, Regulus almost thought it was too much.  But he had to admit that it was beautiful.  A marble gazebo stood before them and all around them were white roses.
“I understand,” Iset said.
Regulus pulled Iset towards the gazebo.  Stopping, he turned back to her.  Regulus’ heart was racing.  He’d defeated his nerves up to this point, but now the anxiety was starting to grab hold of him.
“Iset,” he said softly.  The summer sun painted her dark skin gold and shone in her hair.
“Yes,” she tilted her head, obviously curious.
“I’ve loved you for so long.  You were always the only one for me, even before I realized it.  You have always been there for me, and I don’t know what I would do without you.  I was given a second chance to be with you, and I don’t want to waste it.  I don’t want to have any regrets this time.”
Iset’s free hand was hovering over her mouth and her eyes were shining in the sun.  Regulus slowly got down on one knee and pulled out the ring box.
“I want to spend forever with you.  Iset, will you marry me?”
“Yes,” The word was out of Iset’s mouth almost before Regulus finished talking.  “Of course.”
Regulus slid the ring onto her finger.  Once the ring was on her finger, she gripped his hand and pulled him up.
Regulus wrapped his arms around her and leaned down to kiss her.
“I never want to be without you,” she whispered against his lips.  Regulus lifted her clean off her feet as he kissed her.

For better and for worse
This was inspired by one of the au’s made by the wonderful @wolfstar-lights (please everyone go check her work, it’s amazing) and I really hope that you’ll like it !
It had been a rough night. Sirius hadn't slept at all. Not that he didn't want to, but he couldn't allowed himself to do it. He looked at James, who was asleep, his head resting on Remus' bed. He knew he should do the same thing, but he had the feeling that if he closed one eyes, something would happen to Remus all over again.
He remembered when Professor McGonagall had called him. He remembered how he had ran to the hospital, hoping this was just another prank. But deep down, he knew that a professor would never call him for a prank. And when he had entered Remus' room, he had quickly understood that all this was real.
It was now nine a.m and he was still holding his boyfriend's hand when James woke up. The latter looked at his phone and said “Lily's just arrived, you don't mind if I go see her ? I think I need to go out for a while”. Sirius nodded and James replied “Thanks mate” before getting out of the room.
Sirius was now alone, and he wanted to talk, but no words came out of his mouth. Instead, he heard a sob and thought Remus was awake, but he soon realized that the sob was his and that he was crying. He was sad and angry. He was mad at everyone. He was mad at himself. Because if he hadn't left Remus earlier this day, maybe he could have defended him. Maybe Lucius wouldn't have beaten him. Lucius. Just the thought of his name made Sirius even more angry and he made himself a promise to get revenge when Remus will be alright.
He was too busy to think of a plan and keep an eye on his boyfriend that Sirius didn't hear Alice entering the room.
“Sirius, can I come in ? Are you okay ?”
Sirius startled and turned over to face his friend. She was Remus’ best friend and thanks to him, the two of them had bonded pretty quickly. Sirius was a bit relieved to see her. “Oh, yes, yes. You can sit here if you want” He replied, showing her the chair in which James was sitting a bit earlier. He tried to hide his tear, in vain.
“I think you should go for a walk, just to clear your head a bit. I'm here, he's not going anywhere, nothing will happen to him”
“Yes, but -“
“There's no but. You and James are next to him since he came here, and I know you want to be there, but you need to change your mind. And to change your clothes too, because it's been two days. Regulus is in the waiting room, go ahead, I'll tell you if he wakes up”
Sirius looked down to see his old shirt and he knew Alice was right. Reluctantly, he went out to find his brother. Regulus hugged him and Sirius held him tight. After a few minutes, he stepped back and Regulus gave to him a bag full of clean clothes. Thanks to one of the nurses, he was allowed to use one of the shower in the hospital and Sirius must admitted that he needed it. He stayed a long time under the water.
All of this wasn't fair. Remus was the best person he had ever met, and he didn't deserve all of this. He had suffered enough in his life to be beaten up. He don't deserve this, he don't deserve this, this is unfair, he don't deserve this. This was all Sirius could think of. And of how much he loved this man. Because yes, he loved him. He was the person he loved the most in the whole world and yet, he hadn't told him. And he started to cry again, because all he needed right now was to tell Remus how much he meant to him. Remus had to know, because Sirius had always showed him that he was important. But he had never told him.
While he was dressing, his phone rang. The name “Alice” appeared on the screen and he knew right away what was happening. He didn't pick up and instead, he ran to Remus' room. He didn't think twice before entering the room and he sat at the exact same place he was earlier, before taking Remus' hand.
“Si- Sirius” Remus said, squeezing his boyfriend's hand back. He turned slowly his head to see Sirius.
“Yes babe, it's me. I'm here, I'm not leaving you”. Sirius felt a tear running down his cheek, and if he cared, he would think that he had cried way too much in a day. But he didn't care. Remus was awake. His love was back. “I love you. I think you don't know how much I love you”
Remus smiled and moved a bit. “Come here”, he said, and Sirius laid down next to him. He stroked Remus' hair and kissed him lightly on his forehead.
“How do you feel ?” Sirius asked.
“Not fine. But it's a bit better since you're here”
“I swear I won't let Lucius get away with all this this easily. I-“
“Please, don't talk about this. Just hold me. And tell me you love me”
Sirius laughed and held him tighter. “I love you, I love you, I love you”.
Remus smiled, closed his eyes and laid his head on Sirius' chest. “Me too”, he said, then he felt asleep again. But this time, Sirius wasn't scared. Remus was with him. He will always be by his side. And at this exact moment, when he looked at his amazing boyfriend, he made himself the promise to always protect him and to never leave him. For better and for worse.

I knew what followed. Her eyes. I knew what followed.
“The baby, Regulus. I need to see him.”
~~~
You barely had your eyes open, the light seemed to be too bright and your eyes couldn’t adjust yet. But what you saw, you saw a boy with dark long curls and stunning grey-green eyes.
Regulus Black, your best friend, long before Sirius was in the picture. You and Regulus were inseperable. Two young students, waiting to be called for the sorting ceremony, both with over-protective brothers and both ready to fight for what’s right.
The two of you were an incredible match. No matter the house, no matter the blood type, the two of you were jing and jang. The light with a bit of darknes, the darknes with a bit of light and together creating the perfect harmony, balance if not.
Regulus. Him. His voice somehow made you want to wake up. His soft and kind voice, words, which he only spoke to you and his touch... his touch that seemed to be compelling.
“Reg.” you smiled at him, pulling his hand closer to your cheek.
His eyes were watering, his lips curved into a wide smile and his hands holding yours. He was beaming, radiant and feeling more than just happines at the moment. He felt love, he felt something he hasn’t felt in a long time.
He saw your eyes, for the first time in two years, he saw your eyes watching him with joy and forgivness, not with a resentful and aggrieved glare. He noticed your smile, a smile, which was meant for him and nobody else. That smile. Your smile.
“You woke up, Queenie.” he smiled and kissed your hands as his other hand brushed against your cheek. The tears he didn’t know he held in were finally released and old feelings came rushing back. “You woke up for me.”
“I did.” you responded weakley, your hand finding its way to his cheek  and remove the falling tears.
It was all magical. The bond the two of you shared never disappeared and the moment was perfect. That was until Remus finally decided to speak.
“Hello baby Lu.” he smiled and brushed his hand against your arm.
You turned your head to Remus, breaking away from Regulus’ gaze and finding your brother and another boy with dark curls watching you.
“Remus. Sirius.” you replied with a light tone of surprise. “You’re here.”
But Sirius couldn’t. He couldn’t look at you. Not after what you just said, not after what he just witnessed. The baby, Regulus, you waking up for his younger brother and not for him. It was like a whole new level of anger and rage, of betrayal and hurt, jealousy and envy...
“Sirius?” you quivered as his eyes avoided yours.
At the sound of your voice he couldn’t help himself but to let a tear escape his eye. He quickly wiped it off but you already saw it. You already knew what this was about. He was hurt, ad you were the one behind it.
He turned away, facing you his back as he wasn’t sure whether to stay or to leave. But he did...
He left.
“Sirius, don’t!” you tried to yell but your voice was too weak at the moment.
The only people left in the room now were you, Regulus and Remus. Both were holding your hand but only one was looking at you with questions.
“Why didn’t you tell me?” he asked, voice soft yet desperate for answers.
“I wanted to, I really did. But... “ you sighed and broke your gaze from him for a moment before looking back in his green eyes. “ I was scared.”
“Scared?” he furrowed his eyebrows in confusion. “Why would you be scared?”
“Because I don’t know how you would  deal with it. All your life, all you did was try to protect me and somehow getting sick made me think that you would feel like you failed. Blame yourself for something that isn’t your fault. You always seemed to do that. Whenever I get hurt.” you explained, seeing as his expression had no expression at all anymore.
He wasn’t confused, no. He came to realization at how you see him. Not someone you trust but someone who needs protection. “I don’t want you to think of me that way. Someone you can’t trust enough. I’m your brother. I’m the one who should protect you, (y/n). Not the other way around.” he smiled and leaned closer. “I will always, always blame myself for not protecting you enough. Always. You can’t change that.” he chuckled, making you role your eyes at him. “But not telling me about Wilson’s disease. What were you thinking?”
“I just-”
“No, you numpty. You weren’t thinking. What if there were complications? What if I’d lost you. Lu, you are my everything. Without you I wouldn’t be the same and no matter what, I will always be by your side, trying to protect you.”
You knew that. Of course you knew that already but sometimes, just sometimes you really needed to be reminded that you do know that.
You felt hot tears roll down the sides of your cheeks and this kind of joy inside of you that you forgot how it felt. It came back new and fresh, just like you always wanted it to be.
“Dammit John, your cheesines is making me cry.” you gushed and pulled Remus into a tight hug.
“It mine turn to take care of you now.” he responded and wrapped his arms around your body, squeezing you so tight like it was the last time.
§ flashback §
(Sirius pov.)
She was sitting on the sofa with her bandaged foot  laying on a small pillow.She was alone. Completly alone, sitting in the Common room next to the fireplace and reading a book.
Merlin was she beautiful. Radiant, as the fire reflected on her light/dark skin. And her eyes, my god her eyes were alluring, captivating and heaveny bewitching, scanning the book as her finger quickly brushed against the paper, her lips, curving into one hell of a smile.
Magnificent. How can someone  look so bloody damn beautiful?
“Kind of late for a lady like you to be doing out of bed.” I beamed as I finally walked out of the shadows, starting the conversation with this aesthetic human being.
After hearing my voice, her eyes broke from the book like lightning and her smile stretched into a wide beam. “ A rebel like me is never asleep. “ she replied, her eyes reflecting a small glow from the light.
“A rebel?” I scoffed, moving her foot away so I can seet next to her, than placing it back on my legs. “ Than why does a rebel need three pillows and reads a Herbology book for next year.” I chuckled, moving my hand so I can show her the title of the book.
“Having a brother for a Prefect, strong grades and a good reputation with the proffesors has its perks. What did you expect, a rebel needs education.”she replied and placed the book on the table.
“That she does.” I replied. “I have a question though.” I added and watched as her beam turned into a smirk.
“Shoot.”
Would you go on a date with me? That sounds easy, right?
“Nevermind.” I somehow changed my mind.
“You had a question and all I get is nevermind. You can’t leave me at that, now I am way to curious.” she chuckled and swung her foot of my legs to scoot over next to me. “Come on. Spill.”
Of course now I won’t ask her that. She’ll think I’m desperate for her. She’ll think I like her more than my best friends younger sister. It’s true, yes, but I can’t let her think that.
“Can’t.” I grinned and stood up to walk away.
I heard her scoff as she grabbed me by the hand and pulled me back down to sit. “You know for someone who has a reputation of a womanizer, doesn’t really seem to know his way around a girl.”
“Excuse me.” I scoffed, pretending to be surprised by her sudden outburst. “ For your information I know excatly my way around a girl” I defended only to get an eye roll from her.
“Oh do you know. You wanted to ask me a question, later ended up saying “nevermind”, excatly what a girl wants to hear might I add, and then you try and walk away. Oh please..”
“It made you show you wanted me to stay.” I smirked at her as she soon became to realize what my game is.
She stared at me for a moment, narowing her eyes later as she finally realized how I manipulated her into wanting me here. Honestly, even I was a bit surprised. I just wanted to ask her out.
“I see.” she only replied. “So that is how you treat a girl.”
What did she mean by that? That I manipulate girls, because I don’t do that. I DON’T. I just tried to get out of situation and now....wait why is my heartbeat so strong. Why am I painicking at this. This is (y/n), Remus’ little sister. Why am I panicking of what she thinks of me?
But...
Look at how her eyes are looking at me at the moment. Where is the previous glow I saw before? It’s not there, it’s just a normal (y/e/c) iris with a pupil in the middle. That’s not how it’s supposed to be.
Her iris had a glow and her pupil was a bit wide. I want to see that glow every time with her.
“You’re right.” I started, moving closer to her and moving a strand of her hair behind her ear. “ I do treat girls like this.” I continued, my gaze breaking from her eyes for a moment before looking back up.
My hand was pressed against her cheek, my thumb gently brushing against her lips as her eyes traveled down to mine.
“But you are not just any girl.” I said really quietly, feeling her hand travel up my chest to my neck, her fingers slightly tangling in my curls.
Before I knew, I was kissing her. I was kissing her and for the first time I felt like I was kissing the right girl. The one. It was sweet yet passionate and hot. It was like for the first time I felt this kind of fire in my stomach, air leaving my lungs as my tounge tasted hers.
It felt real. It felt right and from all the kisses I had, her’s was definetly the one to remember.
Until she pushed me away, her hand gently pressed against my chest as I felt the air fill my lungs again. I looked up at her, wondering why she broke away from this perfect kiss and I saw her her expression. It wasn’t shocked, it wasn’t surprised or sad or like it was a mistake.
It was happy, a smile placed on her lips as her eyes searching for my reaction.
“Sirius, what are we doing?” she smiled, trying to keep it away from me but couldn’t.
“Well we were kissing a moment ago. I don’t know what’s going on now.” I replied, feeling my lips turn cold and the fire in my stomach slowly fade away.
“My brother. What if he walks on us?”
I leaned forward, watching her eyes as they followed mine. I pressed my lips gently on hers and breaking away once more before I spoke. “Than I guess he’ll walk in on us.” I added before pulling her back into the kiss.
No way. No way I’m letting her slip away.
§ end of flashback §
But he did, didn’t he. He let you slip away. He was so afraid to lose you that he pushed you away instead.
What was happening?
‘ The baby, Regulus. I need to see him. ‘
The words just kept repeating in his head. The whole scene did. The way you woke up to his younger brother, the way you looked at him, the first face you saw was his.
And what baby for God’s sake?!
Was it his? Regulus’? Were you pregnant and he didn’t know?
“Ughh! I need answers!” he fumed, gripping his hair tightly and pacing around the room.
What if its Regulus’ and her’s baby and he didn’t know. He should have known. Regulus was his brother, yet again they didn’t talk for months if not years. Plus he hasn’t lived with his parents for a while, they must have known something.
But what if it was his? But it couldn’t be. The two of you never had sex so it can’t be possible.
What if it’s not Regulus’ either? What if its just some random guy  that he doesn’t know about?
So many questions and no answers. He was about to lose his mind.
That was until he heard the door open and a tall boy with jet black hair and hazel eyes walked in. “It’s not her’s.”
“Man of Gold” - Sirius Black x Reader
Request: could you do a imagine Sirius finding you after he ran away from home? thank you & I love your writings :)) by: Anonymous
A/N: Sure! Hope you like it, I enjoyed writing it and I truly hope it is enough. (:
Tumblr media
It was a rainy day and you couldn’t help but feel really chilly today. So you decided to get up from the comfort of your cosy, though lonely. bed and get down to the kitchen. The storm was raging on and the rain was now pouring, making its calming noise against your windows. You pulled your big cardigan tighter against yourself as you looked for your favorite tea bags in your drawers. While you were preparing the boiling water, you found yourself thinking about Sirius Black. Your dear Sirius, who once was yours, was now probably rotting in Grimmaulds Place, with people you knew treated him like a piece of garbage. You were thinking about him, wondering how he was and what he was thinking about to keep his sanity. You needed him, he wasn’t here. Everywhere, you heard his voice, you could feel him or almost see him, but that wasn’t real. Though, you couldn’t help yourself, all you had was the memories with him, and the hope he would be back soon. You began to remember all the good times with him. The smiles, the laughs, the love. The holidays were always like this, you always felt so alone and worried for Sirius, wishing to be back at Hogwarts sooner. You couldn’t stop yourself. You were brought back to reality when you felt hot burning water drops on your hand, your water was boiling a bit too much. You stopped it and poured it in your mug. Sighing, you grabbed the tea bag and dropped it in the water, turning off the stove. You began searching for a spoon to mix the tea once it infused, but ended up crying like a mess against the wall. You had enough of all of it, you just wanted to be happy. Truth was you loved him, so much. He was your world. And it was no lie to say you were a huge mess, your appearance telling how even worse you must be inside.
You dried your tears and got up to finally find the spoon that seemed so hard to search as you were lost in your past with Sirius. You wished you could control your mind and move on, but when your heart got in the way too, it was too hard and beyond yourself. Approaching your mug once again, you heard a loud crash coming from your door. Quickly, you took your wand from your hair which was tied in a low bun and approached the door.
“Who is it?” you dared to say, slowly holding the knob.
You heard no answer so you opened in a swift move, your wand ready to protect you, but what you saw could never in anyway be enough to protect your heart. There he was. The rain was pouring on him and lighting was flashing, making his grey eyes shine even if you knew immediately they were dead and drought. You gasped and he started crying. He looked like a mess, really, worse than you. His hair was way shorter than it ever been, he was dripping wet and looked skinnier than last time you saw him.
“Sirius, love, what happened?” you asked, immediately pulling him in and hugging him while closing the door.
“I had-had enough... I, I ran away love. They-They were so f-furious, I, I thought she’d k-kill m-me....” he started stummering.
You shushed him and held him while he cried in your arms. You couldn’t believe he ran away, you felt happy but at the same time you could smell the blood on his body, coming probably from curses he got and you felt yourself feeling angrier than you ever been. After a few hours, he finally stopped crying, though he was still slightly sobbing from time to time. You had conjured a silencing charm on the living room and made sure your parents could not open their bedroom door for as long as the spell was on it. Putting a warm blanket over him and lighting up the fireplace with a flick of your wand, you gave him the burning cup of tea you had prepared and heated up.
“T-thanks.” he said weakly, gripping it and closing his eyes slowly. “Explain, love. What did they do this time?” you asked.
He started telling you how they wanted him to have the dark mark, how he refused and got starved and blocked in his bedroom for two weeks. Then he got out, yelled at them once they started to insist again and got into a spell battle with his dad, finishing it with a lot of bruises and by accidentally throwing him against a wall unconscious. Which caused his mother’s fury the day after and how she started burning his hands, scarring him and even put him a few Crucio curses. He also told you how he ran from her as Regulus petrified her but how his dad was already on his way back home that day. So he took his wand and apparated in a few streets from your house, then ran to you. You felt devastated and now you were both silently sobbing as he drank his cup of tea. Once he finished you hugged him tight.
“Love, I feel terrible for you... I’m going to heal you, okay? And you will never have to go back to them. Have you told the boys yet?”
You didn’t get to finish your question that your door bursted open, James, Lily, Remus and Peter behind, looking worried.
“Mate!! I got your patronus message, what’s going on?!” yelled James.
You all transferred to the Potter house as it was beginning to be unsafe for you all to stay here, your parents would have woken up anyway. All sat in James’ living room, you were all drinking some hot chocolate that Euphemia kindly made as Sirius explained once again the story to his friends and James’ parents. You, on the other side, was conjuring some healing spells while he talked, whispering them. Once you were done, Sirius was too, and you began drinking your own cup.
“I don’t know what to do, now. I’ll bet they will dishonor me and even if they don’t, I don’t want to go back there!” he explained. “You can still live here, mate. I’m sure mum and dad don’t mind, right?” asked James, immediately.
That night, after long discussions and protests from Sirius, it was decided Sirius Black was now living in the Potter House officially. You asked kindly to stay the night and they accepted, knowing how Sirius wouldn’t sleep if he was alone in his room tonight. So, as everyone left and you both got into his new bed, you slowly touched his bandages, knowing how much it will take time for him to heal, emotionally and physically. He held you close and sighed.
“I’m really lucky to have you and the others. I feel really safe, right now. I’m glad I ran away.” he admitted. You smiled and looked up to him, holding his hand and slowly intertwining your fingers.
“I am too. I feel reassured to know you won’t have to face such atrocities anymore, love, you do not deserve them. You are amazing.” you replied, as he smiles at you.
He looked at you and slowly pressed his lips on yours. You left a little gasp, not expecting it. But who were you kidding? Everybody knew you and Sirius were in love, except you two. You gently replied to his kisses and both felt sparks igniting your bodies. He pulled away and smiled at you, as you caressed his hair. Oh, his hair! You remembered now, how short it was.
“Why did you cut your hair, by the way?” you asked, arching an eyebrow. He winced a little, as he replied: “Well, Walburga used to clung onto it to hurt me. ’Twas Reg’s idea to cut it so she couldn’t grab it anymore. I’m not gonna lie, it was difficult to do,” he explained with a chuckle at the last words. “but I had to. And it will grow back!”
You nodded and stared at his face, just imagining how much horror he must have faced. You felt terrible for him, pain showing in your eyes.
“Love, I’m okay now. Don’t worry anymore. “ he whispered, slowly putting his hand in your hair.
As you leaned down and locked lips with his once again, you knew he would be okay and you swore to yourself you would make it your number one priority. You would protect him, until your last breath, because you loved him with all your soul. And also, because you knew he deserved it, he was a man of gold.
