note: please, please, please, heed the trigger warnings. i have been going through a rough time and i wrote this fic as a coping mechanism, so please be aware of what you are going into. it's not my best work but it brought me some comfort to write it, so i hope it may bring you some comfort to read it

There was blood on your hands. 

Why was there blood on your hands?

You looked up in the mirror. It took a few minutes to recognize where you were. You didn’t recognize yourself, but you knew you were looking at yourself. 

You were standing at your sink. There was blood on your hand, dripping into the sink. Fuck. 

You were slowly coming to, turning on the water from the sink and gently running your wrist until the tap. You held in a whimper, hissing at the feeling. As irritating as it was, the cool water and the sting helped ground you more and more into yourself. Once you washed the majority of the blood off your hands and arm, you sighed, slowly taking a seat on the bathroom floor. You couldn’t stand staring at the stranger in the mirror anymore. Opening up the cabinet, you pulled out the first aid kit, nestled at the back behind Wilbur’s spare hair products. The first aid kit collected dust most days now. It almost felt like it was mocking you as you opened it up, pulling out some supplies.

You made quick work out of cleaning. You didn’t want to have to stay here staring at your arm for any longer than you had to, and you’d rather not still be here on the floor when Wilbur got back from filming. After you were properly bandaged, you pulled a hoodie on and just collapsed straight into bed. You had no conscious idea of what time it was, but you felt exhausted regardless. 

You stared at your bandage for a few moments, tracing the line of where the gauze met your skin. Wilbur taught you how to do it properly. Your recovery was no secret to him, and he had always been incredibly supportive. However, the first time he had seen the way you bandage your arm, he looked almost appalled and immediately pulled out the first aid kit again. 

“Darling,” he was chuckling lightly, as if the issue was something far lighter than it was, and it made you feel more at ease as he started undoing the bandage you had done. “I’m going to teach you how to do this properly, alright? I don’t want you getting an infection on me.”

“And how do you know how to do it properly?” You asked, eyebrow raised. 

He hummed, pulling out some antiseptic cream and gauze. “You don’t spend as much time in and out of hospitals for no reason without picking up small things. I went in once because I had a pain in my side that my brain convinced me was my liver failing.” He started rubbing the cream onto your arm so delicately as he continued, “While they went to do tests, I was sharing a hospital room with this guy who had gotten this bad infection on a scrape on his leg. They were training some new nurses, so they started going over appropriate techniques for wrapping cuts and scrapes.”

“And you listened?” 

He looked up at you, pausing his hands to just smile fondly at you and chuckle, “of course I did. As convinced I was that my liver was failing, I also just thought to myself: well, if I survive this, there’s nothing saying the next time I get scraped up won’t be my end. So may as well learn how to prevent it and buy myself some time to say goodbyes.” 

You snorted softly, “That’s pretty dark.” 

“Yeah, I wasn’t doing the best at the time,” he chuckled lightly, “but it was for the better. Because now, I can make sure that doesn’t happen to you.” 

You smiled gently at him, leaning forward to kiss him gently. “Thank you, Wilbur.” 

“Of course, darling. Anything.” He smiled, turning his attention back down to finish wrapping your arm. 

Once he finished, he turned your hand over, kissing the top of the bandages. 

“If you’re trying to be cliché, that’s the wrong side,” you hummed. 

“Oh please, I saw your face when I was wrapping you, I know how tender your arm is right now. The day one of my kisses hurts you will be the day I die.”

You flushed softly, taking his hand and squeezing it gently, “Dramatic much?”

“For you, darling? Always.” 

You thought about that night as you pulled your sleeve back down to cover the bandage. No matter how much you knew Wilbur wouldn’t judge you for it, you still felt a shame bubbling in the back of your chest. Instead of pondering it or letting it consume you, you let the exhaustion take over you instead. 

You woke up to the feeling of arms wrapping around you, shifting and sighing. 

“Hi, darling,” Wilbur spoke softly as you turned to face him, settling into his arms, “Bad day?” 

You nodded softly, sighing and looking up at him. He had a gentle smile on his face. Never judgemental, always kind, even if he was finding you in bed after a few days. Even if your room was a mess and your hair was oily and you couldn’t stop crying. He always met you with nothing but kindness. 

He gently brushed some hair out of your face, gently kissing your forehead. He spoke gently, “I saw the first aid kit on the bathroom floor.” He kept the light smile on his face, as if he was asking you about the weather, not your own mental doom. “Do you want to talk about it? Or just lay here for a bit.” 

You leaned forward, resting your head on his chest. When you spoke, your voice was a bit jagged, “Lay here first. Talk after.” 

He nodded, pulling you into him closer. You pressed your head onto him, relaxing slowly. You focused on the sound of his heartbeat, closing your eyes again. He hummed softly. You could spend the next day just lying here before you spoke again, and he would never complain. He’d take as much time as you needed. 

You didn’t know how much time passed before you opened your eyes again. When you did, you watched Wilbur’s face for a moment. Contently, he continued to hum, eyes closed as one hand absentmindedly traced figures into your back. You took a deep breath before speaking softly. 

“I don’t really know what happened,” you spoke. His eyes opened slowly, his gaze full of nothing but love and acceptance. He nodded a bit, waiting for you to go on. 

It took you a while to continue, but he didn’t push, just waited patiently. 

“It felt like a glitch or something. One second I was staring at myself in the mirror and the next I was staring at blood dripping into the sink. I don’t even remember doing it.” 

He nodded, keeping you close, “Did something trigger you?” 

You frowned a bit, “I- I don’t know. I don’t think so, I just…” You trailed off, unsure of how to put it into words. 

“That’s okay. To not know,” he said, pressing a gentle kiss to your forehead, “walk me through your day. I’ll try and see something you don’t.”

You nodded, taking a deep breath. “Alright, uh. I woke up pretty late. You’d been gone for a while already, the bed was cold.”

“How were you feeling when you woke up?” He asked softly. 

“Uh,” you thought, “hard to say. I- I guess numb? Didn’t particularly sway one way or the other.”

He nodded, “Alright, continue.”

You nodded, “I went to the kitchen first. Didn’t change out of my pajamas, but I went and I got water. Then I made some breakfast, something light, but I don’t remember what.” You took a deep breath, thinking back and sighing, “I- I remember feeling gross.”

“Gross?”

“Like physically? I couldn’t remember the last time I’d showered, so I just felt gross. So I went to take a shower. I- I felt… rough. Couldn’t look at myself without feeling gross, no matter how much I’d cleaned myself. At one point, I was just staring at the floor completely… blank. There were no thoughts really going through my head, it just felt like I couldn’t get out of my head.”

“What got you out of it?” He asked gently. 

“My phone went off. I- I never actually checked it, but the sound startled me enough to pull me out of it. I got out, got dressed and everything. And I stopped in front of the mirror to put product in my hair, but when I started looking at myself, it just… cut out from there.” You finished, frowning and focusing your eyes on the seam of his sweater. 

He nodded softly, “Can I see the bandage?”

You shifted your arm, lifting the hoodie sleeve to show him. “I used your method, don’t worry.”

He inspected it carefully, nodding. “Should probably change them, it’s been a while. Are you alright with me doing it, or would you rather do it yourself?”

“You can do it,” you spoke softly. 

He nodded, standing briefly to grab the first aid kit. “How here are you?”

You sighed, thinking. “About 95%. Still not fully here, but I’m mostly all back to myself.”

He nodded, sitting back on the bed next to you. He carefully started undoing your bandages, humming again to himself as he finished getting them off. 

“This will sting,” he warned, waiting for your nod before gently starting to wipe the wounds with an alcohol wipe to disinfect them. You hissed softly, and he gently shushed you. 

“I know, darling, it’s alright. I’m almost done, you’re doing great,” he spoke softly, distracting you until he’d finished cleaning them. 

“There you are, the hard part is over, love,” he spoke softly, grabbing the antiseptic cream and gauze, starting the process of dressing your wounds once more. 

“Scale of one to ten, how bad do you think they are?” He asked softly.

“Physically? They’re not that bad, probably a six. Mentally, I’m not sure. Probably a nine.” 

“A nine?” He asked softly, focused on wrapping the gauze over your wrist but still listening intently. 

“It’s just another reminder that I’m not doing good. That I’m never going to be able to fully heal. I know healing is not linear, but it’s still frustrating to have a physical reminder of it.” 

He nodded softly, “I can understand that. I think you may just be focusing on the wrong thing.”

You tilted your head, “What do you mean?”

“Well, I think when this happens, you focus on the whole thing about breaking the amount of time you’ve been clean. Am I right?”

You nodded, so he continued. 

“I think instead of focusing on the streak being broken, we should focus on how good it is that you went as long as you did. You’re treating an addiction like a competition instead of an addiction. You can’t just stop all at once, especially when you were used to doing this every day. So instead of being upset that you didn’t go as many days as you wanted or that you have to start over, focus on the fact that you went as long as you did without doing it. Because it’s a big thing, and a good thing. It deserves its praise.” 

He finished wrapping your wrist, and he placed a gentle kiss to your palm. 

You sat up, slowly leaning forward and resting your head against his shoulder. 

“Thank you,” you whispered softly. 

He wrapped his arms around you gently, whispering back, “of course, darling.” 

You kissed his shoulder lightly, and he rubbed your back gently. 

He waited calmly for you to pull away before pulling you into a gentle kiss. He placed a hand on your cheek, gently rubbing his thumb on your cheek. 

You kissed him back gently before resting your face into his hand. 

“You said your phone going off helped break you out of it when you were in the shower, yeah?”

You nodded softly, looking up at him. 

He used his other hand to gently brush your hair from your face, “alright. Moving forward, when I’m not home or not with you, I’ll text you at least once at the start of every hour. And unless I know you’re busy, if you don’t respond within… thirty minutes, I’ll call you. Does that sound good?” 

You nodded softly, “That sounds good. Maybe within twenty instead of thirty though.” 

He nodded, “alright. We can experiment with it or change it up occasionally to see what works best. Good game plan?”

“Good game plan,” you nodded softly. 

He smiled, pulling you in for another gentle kiss. 

“Good. Now, choose your comfort film of choice, alright? I’ll order your favourite in too, God knows I won’t be cooking tonight.”

hi! I'm copy-pasting this to a bunch of sims players so, sorry if you've seen this ask before!

But I basically just want to ask how do you prep or upkeep your save files?

I want to compile a list of resources, either mods that help not spawn random looking NPCs or townie dumps etc. (I know about npcc but that mod is retired now I think) Also I'm curious as to how people update their Legacy saves so they won't get boring or filled by random NPCs.

I often go and manually delete NPCs or add gallery lots but that's very time consuming when you're playing in a laggy laptop and I usually don't have much time to play, so, yeah! Anything you can think of, as random or as specific, helps!

I use mccc import tray settings to control the townies my game populates. I never have to delete townies since all of the ones in my game have been hand selected (so to speak).

Go to mc population/ population settings / import tray settings

My settings are:

import tray settings: 100%

import tray sims type: all saved sims

import tray by tags: any save sim

limit import by tags: only include tags (so only households I have tagged will be used)

include gender options: enabled

include clothing: enabled

import sim name: skip sim if name exists (prevents duplicate townies)

import bypass appearance: disabled

Then I add the tag #mccc_include to all households that I am okay with the game grabbing townies from. While in CAS, I download townies, add this tag to the household and then save them to my gallery. MCCC does the rest.

Other tips / advice:

I recommend this guide to set up an organized mods folder.

Overrides should be kept separately.

I have a waiting folder for all new mods and CC so I can test them and then move them to a new folder later. I also run batch fixes on all newly added CC, so that they aren't enabled for random, etc.... I only batch fix stuff in that "testing folder".

KEEP BACKUPS of your tray files, screenshots, saves files, and mods folder.

I try to only use mods by people who regularly update them.

If I get LE's I get help at Sims After Dark discord.

I follow deaderpool's discord for mod updates.

Yeah, it's me again.

I've been hanging out on Discord but I really miss engaging with the community as a whole, even if the generation gap is getting a little difficult to navigate. So I'm testing the waters posting here again, because being involved in the community and depressed is still better than being isolated and depressed. Yay mental illness!

Anyways I've been making tons of stuff, mostly bodyshape clothes because I need them and that's what I'm focusing on. I've also finally started building my new gameplay hood, Chaos Chasm. I hope to play soon but I need to make some specific CC for certain sims. I'm balancing a ridiculous number of WIPs at the moment and my list of potential projects is endless 😅

Finchy's Building Tips Corner

(but like fr this is about corners)

Yo, here's a quick and shitty tutorial for something that probably only bothers me, but I'll put it out there anyway. You know those EA modular shelves, right? Originally from the Dream Home Decorator pack, but now also found in the Book Nook kit... you know, these ones!!! ⬇️

Yeah, I hate how you can't nestle them nicely into corners unless you let them clip through each other like in the example above, so here's how I bypass that for a more built-in shelf look without additional cc or mods. All you need to do is activate the bb.moveobjects cheat.

So, pick a corner for your built-in shelves and, assuming you already know how to activate cheats, go ahead and turn on testing cheats, and bb.moveobjects.

We're going to start by adding a diagonal wall across our corner to create a tiny triangular room. Then select this room and click the "up arrow" once to raise a platform inside this room.

Once that's done, click on the wall you just created and delete it to reveal your new platform. Next, add your modular shelves to either side of this corner platform. The shelf should click to the side of the platform and clip into it a bit, which is exactly what we want here.

Continue to layout and stack your shelves to your desired height, raising or lowering your platform until it is flush with the top of your shelves, like they are in the example below.

Once you have your corner shelves placed, try to find a floor texture that matches the color/texture of your shelving and plop that on top. Use your best judgement, I believe in you!✨

Now we're going to do our best to color match the outside trim of our platform to the inside section of our shelves. For the Book Nook kit shelves, I find that the Knock on wood Platform trim works best for this.

Boom, look at that! If you get your colors and textures right, you will have a nearly flawless shelving unit, without any weird and distracting clipping.

Now you can go on and decorate your shelves to your hearts content. (Don't mind Séamus here, he's just admiring our handy work. He's a carpenter, he does that from time to time.)

And there we have it! Better built-in modular shelves. I hope this has been helpful, and happy building! 💚

Yo I'm curious. How do sports work in the comic? Like are there cut offs and restrictions for monsters so humans can still participate? Or are they in completely different divisions like men and women, monster and human type beat?

UUH yeah i feel like sports are probably WAY more complicated in this universe solely bc of all the different monster types and their advantages/ disadvantages but i think overall It's just separated into human sports and monster sports. There's general rules and regulations for all monsters about using their tails, wings, horns, and any other extra appendages but there could also be sports that exist that center around the use of the tail or wings or what have you but as far as regular "our world" sports they try to make it an overall playing field. Plus for any of the monsters on the more humanistic end of the spectrum, they could sometimes pass into human sports-for instance Ignazio could pass in human sports as long as he doesn't use his stomach mouth or tail to his advantage or else he'd be disqualified. Esp since he's a surfer for his profession, if there's both monster and human surf events he could play in both, only using his tail and stomach mouth as he pleases in the monster version. As Far as skateboarding goes, wings may be allowed to be used to have longer air time but for only like 2.5 seconds or somethin specific like that, so that way Kari has somewhat of an advantage for the "monster aspect" in order to create new tricks or a new twist of an existing trick but doesn't allow her to just openly cheat if that makes sense. Ollie only played in monster (american) football bc with his strength and size he'd send even the strongest human football athlete straight into a closed casket funeral LMFAO so him playing against other potentially large and strong monsters makes it more of an even game. Same with his horns he had to wear lil caps on his horns to prevent goring another player and also bc horns wouldn't be of any special advantage in monster football so may as well cover them up:

so i mean it all depends on the specific monster and what the sport is/requires and im sure there's individual physical tests to do to determine that, there's surely a whole SLEW of lawsuits and scandals of monsters using their abilities to cheat which sets the future rules in order but yeah sports are a cc ccomplicated aspect

So ya know how in CC I established that friendship with Midnight and Snipe? So now I'm imagining them with their own little show of shenanigans like the ones I mentioned in the last post. And they're the default but they bring in other Pro Heroes to be involved.

Present Mic is a pretty regular guest when he's not busy with his own radio show, but they've had a lot of Heroes and most of UA's staff on. Aizawa has been on the show and every time it looks like they're holding him hostage(they might be tbh)

AND YEAH JUST NOW ALL MIGHT AND THE MOREO

They. They didn't /intend/ for that to happen. It was supposed to be a normal 'let's test taste all the Oreo flavors!'.

Then they decided to take the Oreos apart and make the big stack ones. And they're like 'okay contest to see how fast we can eat this bitch!'.

Midnight and Snipe to the sane thing of just taking large bites and then All Might just Does That™ and the whole show grinds to a fucking halt while Midnight and Snipe are in the background like

and then yeah when the episode gets uploaded.

None of the students at UA can make eye contact with All Might for a week.

Several fanfic authors are validated and inspired, ao3 is flooded with new content within half an hour of the video being posted.

Halfway across the world, David Shield watches that and is never going to fucking recover.

anon asks: unhelpful answers edition!

1. I don’t use the hair binner, so I’m not sure how that works. I’ve always used Wardrobe Wrangler to bin hairs (and I don’t even fully know how to use that). But making elders keep their colors isn’t part of that process, as far as I know. What I always do, when recoloring a hair, is just give elders the same hair color texture as adults. That’s all! So if I was retexturing a hair (ignore the old texture, I grabbed one at random) all the textures inside the bodyshop project would look like this:

It sounds like you may have downloaded some hairs in which the recolorer has given elders a different gray texture. I have no idea how to fix this after the fact other than to make a bodyshop project of the hair and replace the gray textures with the color that the younger ages have (assuming the recolorer hasn’t also deleted the elder stage, which is a whole other can of worms). Someone else might know if there’s another way to do without making a new recolor, but I’ve always just done that. Sorry I couldn’t be of more help!

edit: oh my god i’m so dumb. you can just export the adult texture and import it over the gray one in SimPE!! again, this assumes that the recolorer did not completely delete the elder age, but yeah. there you go! i cannot believe i forgot about that lol.

2. My own! I’m still using human ones for the moment cuz I haven’t been able to decide which alien ones to default instead. I use 32, 42, 47 and 51 from my Kids In Technicolor set. If you want the exact ones that I'm using, here you go! These skew darker than Maxis’s default S1/S2/S3/S4 range, so if your skins are mostly geneticized in keeping with Maxis skintones, mine won’t fit well in your game. If you’re just interested in the textures that I use, not the specific shades, you could default some different shades from that set, which you can find in this sfs folder.

3. Hi anon! It is a default slider, yes, and it’s toward the back of the “Face” section, which is the first group of sliders. :)

Edit: if you are making sims in CAS, you won’t have that slider available and will need to get the Bodyshop Sliders for CAS mod. Sorry about that! I never make sims in CAS so I forgot that slider wasn’t there! Thanks to @kayleigh-83​ for pointing that out.

4. Alas, I have no idea how that mod works! Modding is completely beyond me. But it does work in my game, you just have to have it in your downloads. If it’s not working for you, you may have some sort of conflict, and may want to test it using the 50/50 method in CAS. Don’t forget to backup your neighborhood first, and restore it after you have finished 50/50ing!

5. I have no idea! :( There are tutorials on making accessories but I’ve never braved them. But this looks like a really good place to start, if you want to give it a try. :)

6. Hey anon! I assume you are the same anon who has asked for Lilac a couple times before and I am sorry for the delay. He’s going to be up with the other spares after the next Cakebread update (in which Tiara is finally going to die) but since you have been so patient I have uploaded him ahead of time. Here you go! Everything is in folders, so you can delete anything that you already have. You can dump his sim file in your Savedsims (or I think he will still work fine in Downloads).

My New Years Resolutions - Simming in 2023

Welp, my 2022 Resolutions were a total bust. 🤦 I figured they would be though; this new grad school program I’m in is RUTHLESS--they don’t believe in sleep! I passed all my classes though, thank heaven--I was SO nervous to see my grades this morning. 😅🎉 And I managed to make a tiny dent in my research over winter break! Huzzah! 

So, as for 2023, I’m just gonna keep tryna do as much as I feasibly can.

OLD stuff I REALLY need to get to work on include:

Uploading some Dragon Age CC. Y’all. Y’all don’t even know how long I’ve been sitting on a effton of conversions I haven’t even had time to test in-game yet. 😩 I haven’t touched my DAI gameplay in AGES, and I miss it.

Uploading some Bleach CC. There are a LOT of imperfections, which is why I haven’t given y’all anything yet, cuz CAS CC drives me effing crazy. But there’s at least some stuff I think I can get away with sharing. I’d also LOVE to finish my Substitute Shinigami Arc gameplay, and hopefully start the Soul Society Arc sometime this year.

Uploading some The Untamed CC. Jfc I’m not making any progress with my big projects--I just keep bouncing from one thing to the next. But I actually think I can start giving y’all stuff I’ve been working on--again, none of it’s perfect, cuz I suck.

Uploading some CDPR CC. I’ve been meaning to keep working on a bit more Witcher 3 and Cyberpunk 2077 CC, but other stuff keeps getting bumped up my list! CDPR’s stuff is so effing high poly though, which makes me hate even touching those games; it’s always a massive headache dealing with AAA game assets. 

The only NEW stuff currently consuming my every waking moment of course includes:

Giving y’all more scrumptious Interview with the Vampire goodness. There’s a ton of gameplay left that I couldn’t finish over Winter Break that I still wanna do, and I have CC that I want to share very soon. (^_^)

Doing Hell’s Bells, Campaign 3 of Critical Role. I was working on it right before Simblreen caught up with me and I had to drop it; so I want to hurry up and get back to that, since I managed to make some pretty cool CC for that gameplay.

Yeah, other than all that, there’s always my usual holiday uploads for Lunar New Year, Black History Month, my birthday (yes, it’s a holy day for me, shaddup), Pride Month, and Halloween.

I have a lot planned, so hopefully that’ll all keep me in a good mood while I struggle with everything else on my plate IRL. 🙄

Oh goodness, you're so kind!! I'm so glad you like them, and yeah, I'd love to make some new ones some day! Just need some inspiration…

I actually have a few WIP hairlines that I drew but didn't like the look of in-game. One of those was a middle-parted hair, and even though I really liked my drawing for it it didn't work out with almost all of the EA hairs I tried it with, so I put it aside. Here's a preview of what it looked like:

The middle-part just didn't work. Most EA hairs had hard edges to them that made the middle part look bad, or the middle parts just didn't line up properly with each other; they were crooked or slightly off-centre. I tried hard, but just couldn't make it work.

Then my cloud-saving messed up and saved over this file with an older version and I lost the progress on this hairline. :\ Grr. But that's how it goes! I might have a .png of it that I used to test with lying around, but my file system is a rats nest and I haven't had a good look.

To answer your other suggestions, first about more masculine hairlines: I'd love to make more! I do consider my hairlines to be pretty androgynous, my masculine sims often use all of the ones I've made, but Stoic is pretty firmly in the "masculine" camp, for sure. Making more pose a couple difficulties:

Masculine EA hairs (as well as CC masc hairs) have hair lines that are all over the dang place. Making them line up properly to even a few is a huge headache, at least without making a million bazillion swatches. It's a lot of work!

Also: I'm a bit out of ideas! That being said, if you have any reference images and examples you'd like to see me make for your sims, please don't hesitate to send them to me! I'm always looking for more ideas, since my energy is pretty low these days and it's hard to come up with them by myself. ^^

Afro hairlines: I addressed this elsewhere, but I'm hesitant to try because I have zero experience with afro-textured hair, how it works beyond what I can find with an image search, or what's fashionable. I'd rather that folks who do have experience with that hair-type make them, and many have! Setsuki's come to mind, as do all the snatched edges and baby hairs out there which are so gorgeous. :D As for me, though, I don't have the ideas or the experience, so I don't feel qualified to make them.

I'm also really picky with what hairlines I release. I've made a few WIPs that I never shared because I'll only share the ones that actually look good in-game! It's tricky for me to make something that passes my internal quality control. X) But if I do have an idea and can make something I like in the future, you bet that I'll share it with you all. 👍

@maturation​ hmmm not really :( i wrote some tips here for making teenagers look like teenagers, but it’s even harder to make them look like preteens 😭 i think the only time i pulled it off was with casper, and that was really just because he has a baby face without trying. i didn’t even try with asa because he’s so big, i just did a time skip to avoid the whole thing. i’m sorry i can’t help more!! it’s such a huge limitation of the sims :/

hey! i thought i had removed everything by pandasama, but there was actually a file called “animation_injector_changingtable” in my mods folder that was causing problems. delete it, then delete localthumbcache, then reload the game to see if it worked :) otherwise my other problem was an outdated TOOL mod, i thought i updated it but i actually downloaded an old version! (btw, pandasama’s other stuff works fine now, i put it all back after i finished testing. just make sure to update the childbirth mod if you have that)

yes it’s a main blog!! i would 1000000% recommend creating a new account for your simblr! it’s huuuge for visibility. it would be really hard for people to follow you back if your main blog is the one whose url is showing up; most people won’t go to the effort of clicking on your blog to find out if you have a simblr somewhere else. i created a separate email so that i could keep my personal blog as my main blog, but still have a new account for simblr :) also if you use firefox (which everyone should tbh), you can use the containers extension so that you don’t have to log in and out of your accounts all the time, you can just open them in two tabs!

okay it's kinda funny you said this because... well i don't want to give too much detail but i used to live between a historic cemetery, an honest to god abandoned psychiatric facility, and a building that's known to be one of the most haunted places in the state. but i still never felt or saw ANY ghosts. that's why i didn't believe for so long, because how can i be in the freaking bermuda triangle of ghost activity and never see one?? i'm still mad about it lmao, whether i believe in them or not, i've always wanted to see a ghost so bad. especially if they're just lonely! come to me and we can chill lol

oh wow yeah it’s always freaky when people who don’t seem like the type to believe in this kind of stuff tell you stories like this; it adds a new layer of credibility if you can eliminate all other options. like when people are grieving their loved ones, it’s normal to see/hear/smell them everywhere, and when you’re living in that fog of grief, you can mistake a lot of things for ghost activity that are actually just a result of you looking for patterns to make sense of it all. and i still think this is the case most of the time. i remember when my grandma died, my mom was understandably a complete mess, and she was always misplacing things in that time. but to this day, she still claims it was my grandma who was moving her water bottle, turning the stove on, etc. i’m still (and always will be) a very science minded person, so i’m always going to look at the other explanations first. sorry that was a tangent lmao but my point is, it’s always weird when someone down to earth says stuff like this. that would be so sad, but at least he was able to comfort them a little bit :( what an awful way to go :(

Hi, folks! Today I have a couple sneak peeks of what's coming up soon here. First of all, damn, you really liked that Tattooer project, huh. Thank you so much for the interest and love, and I have to say, there's more coming soon! So that part of the process that involves removing the alpha channel and then adding it back using some actions in Photoshop? Yeah, forget about that. A really cool simmer here told me about a neat little trick with the most recent version of Blender that preserves the transparencies during the texture baking process, so expect an update on the entire project and tutorial in the coming days.

Obviously I've been working on new stuff to add and update to the Tattooer project while I was there, so here goes a sneak peek under the cut!

I was not happy at all with the first face tattooer thingy version I did, hence why it says it's experimental, so I had to make a new and improved version.

Surely that face does not look impressed, does she? Well, I decided to sit down for a few hours and put into practice what I've learned in this fantastic free masterclass on youtube remapping the Sims 2 face so it matches the Sims 4 face UV mapping. If you want to learn about UV mapping and unwrapping in Blender, I totally recommend watching that video, such a life changer! I've tested texture baking with this new version using a few S4 makeup cc and honestly, I'm quite happy with the results for now!

And finally, as a bonus, I came up with a new way to make our own tattoos from scratch, as easily as possible.

This one is focused on the arms and legs, which usually are the most problematic parts of the body to texture. Unfortunately this project will also require just a little bit more knowledge about how to use Blender, but I think it can still be really useful! It's basically a cylinder that automatically wraps around the arms and legs, kinda like a sleeve, and then you can just bake the texture from the cylinder directly into the Sim body. You could wrap that cylinder around other parts of the body, but don't expect it to look as good as around the arms and legs… So for those cases I will also add a square plane object that also adapts to the shape of the body. It works literally like those tattoos you could find inside those Cheetos chip bags back in the day lol. Want to know the coolest part about this? As you can see on the image, those objects' UV maps are extremely simple. No more messing around with that weird original S2 UV map, trying to stretch and match your texture to fit it in Photoshop. You can just slap your texture in, bake it, and it will mostly look good and seamless, just like that!

So yeah, this is what I've been working on these past couple weeks. I can't wait to properly share them all! Can't say exactly when it's going to happen, though. I've been pretty busy lately with my studies, and also got sick, yay. But oh well, let's just say "coming soon", at least for now.
