I think it's so interesting that when the Night Nurse goes through Charles' trauma, she does see him being attacked by the other boys, sees him running alone through the night, but she never sees him dying.
That only comes later, when she is searching for love.
And there is no fear in that memory, even if there is pain, there is just Edwin and the light he is bringing, metaphorically and physically, into Charles' life, there is smiling and joking and listening to stories.
There is Edwin.
So, yeah, I don't think dying was a bad experience for Charles. Not a good one, per se, but one that led to the best thing in his existence.

Sometimes I think about how Adrien, throughout the series, constantly grapples with his fear of abandonment. Gabriel conditioned him to believe that any love he receives is purely transactional, and that to earn affection he has to prove his utility. Adrien is constantly trying to prove his worth to his father for scraps of affection, and Chat Noir infamously crumbles on-screen any time he feels as though he is replaceable to Ladybug. It's a constant insecurity of his, like everyone will just dump him like a sack of potatoes the moment they find out how useless he is.
Meanwhile, all Marinette wants to is ensure that Adrien is happy. Because she loves him. She doesn't give two shits about how """useful""" he is. She holds him and tells him that she will never abandon him (both as Ladynoir and as Adrienette), and her fantasies are about saving him, not about him being "useful" to her. Throughout their relationship, Adrien is forced to disappoint Marinette constantly for reasons outside of his control (amok commands), and yet Marinette is still there for him.
At Adrien's lowest point, when he is forcibly torn away from everyone who had ever showed him genuine care, locked away in an all-white room and at his most "useless", right after disappointing Marinette and unable to even join the final battle or contribute in any way, she still saves him. She still loves him. Because he doesn't have to prove anything to her. Because he is loved and cherished for who he is, not for what he does, and that love is not conditional. Adrien's "happy ending" at the end of the first arc wasn't about him finally proving how useful he can be, because he never actually cared about being useful — he just saw it as the only means to feel loved and needed. Instead, in the end, he found out that he was loved and needed no matter what.

daily reminder for today that there is no one way to be butch, femme, or to be a butchfemme couple!
butches don't have to be hypermasculine, tall, or muscular. they don't have to be suave and mysterious. they don't need to have overtly masculine interests, like cars or fishing. they don't need to work jobs that are considered traditionally masculine, like construction.
butches can be short. butches can be skinny. butches can be bubbly, optimistic, dorky, and excitable. butches can have soft, "girly" interests, like collecting stuffed animals or baking. butches can work jobs that are considered traditionally feminine, like nursing. butches can be submissive, butches can be bottoms.
femmes don't have to be hyperfeminine, short, or thin. they don't have to be people pleasers or eternal optimists. they don't need to have overtly feminine interests, like fashion or knitting. they don't need to work jobs that are considered traditionally feminine, like secretaries.
femmes can be tall. femmes can be fat. femmes can be stand-offish, reclusive, and self/self-care oriented. femmes can have "masculine" interests, like fixing cars or sports. femmes can work jobs that are considered traditionally masculine, like mechanics. femmes can be dominant, femmes can be tops.
but the magic thing about butches and femmes is they CAN also be "traditional" in their butch or femme identity. butches can be hypermasculine. butches can love sports, butches can be truck drivers. butches can be stone tops, butches can be dominant. femmes can be high femme. femmes can be bubbly and vibrant, femmes can love girly fashion and pretty clothes. femmes can be stone bottoms, femmes can be submissive.
and just the same, there is no one way to be a butchfemme couple. a femme can be taller than their butch. a butch can have a smaller body type than their femme. a femme can top and a butch can bottom.
there! is! no! one! way! to! be! butch! or! femme!

it's immensely funny to me how andrew lloyd webber read this passage from the book and was like yeah the journey down to the phantom's lair is this really breathtaking magical gondola ride where christine is just captivated by the strange and fantastical beauty of it all (see below)
when in the novel they're both like in a rowboat in the dark with christine scared out of her mind and confused as hell while erik is paddling like he's out for an extreme day of fishing and just staring christine down for the entire duration of the journey without blinking once . like mind you his eyes quite literally GLOW in the DARK and he's just fucking staring into her soul and silently rowing and probably not even breathing like

Penny stardewvalley makes me so sad because she's SO sensitive to, like, basically everything you tell her (telling her that you can't stand children while two children are nearby is a pretty lousy move but -1500 friendship?? being a jerk to other characters' faces typically loses you about 50 points, and if you choose the option labeled "creepy" and ask Leah for a kiss in her 2 heart event she physically hits you and kicks you out of her house but that's only -100 friendship…) and so if you want to befriend her it's a whole lot of lying and tiptoeing around her feelings (2 hearts: George was right but saying that makes her feel bad. 6 hearts: her food sucks but even if you try to be polite about it she feels like a failure; only a bald-faced lie pleases her. 8 hearts: saying you don't want to be tied down with a family loses you a little bit of friendship and she's only happy if you say you want kids) and I can't help but think she's a product of her environment. She lives in a trailer with only her mother, who gets drunk every night and has something of a temper. Penny's like a skittish rescue animal who won’t even come out from hiding under something unless you leave her lots of treats
