Starting to realize I've been unnecessarily resistant to a lot of ideas because I was just looking at them from an angle I didn't like
The idea of a "purpose driven life" is one of those things. The whole "I was Created for a Purpose" thing didn't vibe with me and also kind of pissed me off and that was pretty much the only context I had for the idea for a long time. And even the more secular version where I create my own purpose didn't work either because I've never felt like I had any particular calling or thing I Have to Do. It also feels dehumanizing to think of it that way, to a certain extent, to have a specific purpose or use like a tool or an object.
But actually a purpose driven life doesn't have to mean Having a Purpose it can just be "doing things on purpose." Life becomes a lot easier and also more fulfilling when you act with intent instead of just letting yourself loose in the day. It's hard to get your shit together when you're winging every second. A sense of purpose doesn't actually need to be deeper than that, I think, to positively influence your life

i feel like people r taking it for granted that jon and martin are still alive in the computer but idk i think it would be kind of fun if they were totally soulless instruments of the Web. or whatever the new equivalent of the Web is because i'm team "the entities changed when they entered the new world". but in general it's possible that it only sounds like jon but isn't really. don't you remember? they took his voice one before. they could take it again

so I wanted to say that since I'm really enjoying this event, I will likely continue to post about it, including analysis. I want to talk about the game mechanics and strategies but it's been so hard to do without people thinking you're talking about the discourse. I think as a community we all need to be a little less jumpy about this event, because I've seen posts of people being afraid to talk about the team their watching because they don't want to be dragged into discourse. I think a lot of genuinely lighthearted posts about a fun event are being misconstrued as something malicious
all of my posts are made with the spirit of friendly competition. a lot of other people are posting like this too! people should be able to do this without getting accused of hating ccs or being unfair
i've been posting a lot about red team, specifically because that's who i've been watching the most. i watch pretty much every english speaking qsmp member, it just so happens that right now i have a sub to foolish so i've been watching him so i don't have to deal with ads. because of this, i will probably continue to talk about red team the most. i'll talk about blue and green teams when i watch them! if i had the time to watch vods from every team and do a complete strategy analysis, i would. but I don't have that time. i genuinely don't care which team wins, but that doesn't mean I won't be rooting for certain teams on certain days. like on day 2, red team going from barely visible on the score bar to winning the day was an amazing underdog story! of course i'm going to root for them! and for day 3 I was rooting for green team because i want to see fitmc tryhard!
at the end of the day this is a fun event. it's fun for the ccs so it should be fun for the fandom. and if you're scrolling thru tags and getting upset/annoyed/angry at people posting about a friendly competition, you might need to reevaluate yourself

It’s really obvious to me that a lot of the retcon theories and discussions that people are having around episode 5 and 6 are not about telling a coherent story or character arc but more about trying to soothe the discomfort of the theorist.
Because in my opinion episode 5 was visceral but not shocking. It was something that was established and building from all the episodes before it. In addition, Episode 6 is probably one of the most important episodes in season 1 and the train scene gave a lot of insight into both Claudia and Lestat’s characters and motivations. Episode 7 doesn’t make sense or even hit the same without the events in Episode 6. (I disagree with the notion that episode 5 was enough and that we could have skipped to episode 7).
Additionally, when I read these theories, I try to imagine what it would mean if it’s true. Okay, let’s say Louis wasn’t physically outclassed by Lestat in episode 5, what does that actually change? Is it not still domestic violence just because Louis got a few punches in? Is it not Louis throwing himself in front of Lestat to protect Claudia? (Side note: Is it not still book canon for Louis to do this very thing (fight Lestat) for this very reason (to prevent Lestat from putting hands on Claudia)? I’ve seen the excerpts...)
Let’s say that the entire end of episode 5 was an implanted memory from Armand. Ok, how does Louis end up in Europe in the first place? Why would he leave Lestat (hot take: I find it endlessly fascinating that Lestat reacted before knowing if Louis would have agreed to go with Claudia. He seems to think that Louis would have left him, but is that really true? I personally doubt it) Why doesn’t Claudia just leave again? Why does Lestat have to die or be incapacitated?
Maybe I’m not in reading in the right places. But my biggest issue with a lot of the ‘unreliable narration/louis is lying/louis is being brainwashed’ theories is that they don’t add anything to the story. In fact some of these theories seem to destroy whatever story we’re being told. If these theories were true, the writers would have spend significant time picking up the pieces and telling the story in season 1 again. And there’s still so much more we have to cover in season 2. I really just can’t see why they would do that and what would be gained from that.

baltimore drivers will try to kill you for waiting at a red arrow (right OR LEFT) and their rage only grows when there is an obvious “no turn on red” sign. some intersections have multiple signs in multiple locations. they are undeterred. baltimore drivers love to run red lights generally, it’s just that many are forced to microdose with devil’s lefts and illegal right on reds.

Updating artfight character stuffs and it made me remember how much I love/hate the Librarian. Was thinking about a concept near the end where Zeki is a LOT more volatile due to the infection and starts a really heated argument. One where she flies completely off the handle, she's scary. Yelling and screaming at him for what he "did to her" and calling him all the profanities she can think of. He slams his fist down and looks at her intimidatingly. In a low voice he says "I am your creator. I am your master. You will obey."
