You know, technically Ludy could have been rescued from an Aeor stasis bubble by the same team in Molaesmyr that brought back the creepy tree sample and later caused the Savalirwood to get cursed and the city to fall (figuratively in this case).
This would mean he'd still 1) experienced the Calamity firsthand, 2) been a part of the original Malleus project, and 3) not needed to extend his lifespan via necromamcy.

Hey so.
Remember when, during Calamity, Loquatius got left behind when the Seelie Queen called everyone home and sealed the Feywild entrances?
And Ludinus was consuming Fey creatures because they were Similar to what he is?
And Ludinus started going into the Feywild frequently within memory, possibly, maybe, following Artagan's Door?
And the Unseelie Court is VERY involved in Ruidus and the Vanguard?
What if Ludinus isn't an elf . . . What if Ludinus is Unseelie? Trapped in Exandria during the Calamity?

It occurs to me that FCG might have picked up their coin flipping habit from Ashton.
In episode 22 Ashton said that normally when they're unsure they'll pull out a coin and flip it. There's a half-decent chance that FCG has witnessed this behavior in other situations besides Ashton's decision on-screen about letting FCG and Imogen attempt the first mind dive on him.
The difference is that FCG dialed that trait up to 11 when he took it on.
Part of that could be that FCG is unsure a lot more often than Ashton is. He's only four after all, so he hasn't developed the nuance for when flipping a coin might be considered more appropriate for decision making instead of reasoning it out (though FCG made a step towards balancing the habit recently in episode 64).
Another part is that FCG believes that the Changebringer is influencing the coin flip. Which makes it a more appealing method of choosing as it's like asking someone more experienced and knowledgeable than you for direction, rather than it just being chance. And FCG is so used to having guidance/instruction from someone more experienced than them. Plus FCG is trying develop faith in the Changebringer, so full-body throwing themself into her "care" is a leap of faith they're taking.
Meanwhile Ashton probably believes coin flips in decision making are just a 50-50 chance for either option, which is why he'll use it when he's unsure which way is the best to go. And honestly, that probably feeds into his dislike of how FCG uses coin flips because they'll do it for everything instead of a choice they're honestly on the fence about and have reasoned there are equal benefits/detriments to each side of.

just a lil reminder that Judicators and K'Nauth had a choice about defacing themselves and becoming vessels for their gods
the Ruidusborn Exaltants? who all felt fated to be in the Hellcatch? y'know, the ones like Imogen who are developing scars and physical disfigurement by just existing?
they didn't.

i just hit the 3hr mark in ep 96 and was struck by a horrific idea. what if...
the hells find a random dilapidated bot while exploring, like how the nein found "charlie" in c2. they bring it along for a bit, and it's got a similar dopey personality (played by matt) and lack of processing capacity to charlie. essek was with the nein during their aeorian expedition, he could probably get the group back to the genesis ward to get the bot repaired...
and out steps sams new pc. another aeormaton with the same "personality settings" as fcg, maybe even sharing the designation of faithful care-giver. the same voice and cheerful disposition fresh cut grass had, maybe they'd even greet the party with "smiley day!" of course they wouldn't have any personal ties to or memory of bells hells, they just came back online!
could you imagine???

So one of my favorite things to make characters ask themselves is "how much of me, is me?".
which means i am being absolutely spoiled by bell's hells, because, wow. wow. this party sure is collectively chewing over that question, huh. like:
how much of me is me-
-and not my service and use to others, not my coping mechanisms for things gone wrong.
not other peoples wishes tangled around me like strings on a puppet, not my frantic efforts to outrun flaws.
not the clawing monster inside of me and not the webs of lies that metamorphized me into something different.
not my trauma responses, or even, the trauma itself.
how much. how much?

Oh! What if Pate ended up with Imogen's group???? I mean, it's possible he just poofed out of existence but also: WHAT IF WE FINALLY GET THE PATE AND IMOGEN BUDDY COP COMEDY WE I ALWAYS WANTED???
But also, Imogen and Laudna can talk through Pate! But with the hilarious layer of Imogen being sappy at a dead rat!
GIVE THIS TO ME MATT.
AS COMPENSATION FOR THE THINGS THAT HAPPENED TO MY KEYLETH.

Look ok I’m sorry about tumblr’s gif quality but can we please talk about Ashton’s reaction to Fearne being flirted with by Manad??? His face like absolute thunder the whole time and then complete disbelief
Tumblr media
And then several minutes later the conversation moves on but guess who doesn’t? :)

Somebody on Tiktok doing a C2 rewatch captured the exact moment that Marisha Ray predicted the future and suggested the moon might be a prison that they might have to have busted Jester out of and just…Matt’s face. He betrays nothing. No more than a flicker of amusement, unattributable. I wish to have the strength of this man’s poker face because *surely* on the inside he must have been cackling gleefully, going ‘Oh you have *no* idea’

so we know ludinus needed a sliver of divinity to make the malleus key work. everything hinged on the vanguard getting vax into an orb. for the pursuit of perfection, that’s not a super stable thing to hinge a 1000-year plan on.
A few thoughts on that:
the attacks on zephrah had to be them trying to either test out whether vax would show or just trying to get the lens done as early as possible. potentially the nonresurrection poison was part of that--we know in his duties as champion he ushers souls to the beyond--by ensuring that the souls of the people they killed had to pass on, they could guarantee him being there
the backpack had to have something to do with that beyond the echo knight class abilities. extracting dunamis, manipulating fate which directly interferes with the duskmaven’s sphere of influence, something to that effect. making vax a ziggurat orb in a reversal or different implementation of the ritual of seeding maybe?
liliana or ludinus or someone referred to the ruidus born as seeds at some point during the crazy monologue action sequence. mooring cables on a bridge but also seeds. hm.
it took a full wish, scanlan’s final wish, to get vax to vex’s wedding. there’s no way he could just pop out every time keyleth was on the cusp of death. i’m guessing now that the raven queen would have had him on watch for that poison/dunamis? and its misuse by the paragon’s call. Otohan probably had keyleth down enough to use the poison, especially with that stun as to give advantage. while him simply coming for her is compelling, i think there has to be more to it than that from the raven queen’s side of things. the combination of the paragon’s call all calling on her image, the nonrez magic, keyleth, and  ludinus for some kind of life extension nonsense/fate manipulation/mass sacrifice all would be draws and impetus for her to send in her hand. It could not have just been keyleth on the verge of death
vax got orbed for his relationship to the raven queen--the sliver of divinity. the nature of his mortal soul is probably in question, but that’s not what’s being used to power the malleus key. proximity to the beacon, restrained as it is, may start causing issues with that. not consecution, but the luxon has many weird abilities, and i wouldn’t be surprised if something happened. more problems to deal with as they arise.
also pretty ironic that this huge plan to get the gods eaten by their natural predator relies on at least two major sources of divine power--luxon + duskmaven through vax.
for now i think we’re looking at a slower apocalypse than may have been expected. the predathos plan went off with several hitches: no fey key, damage in the shadowfell, less arcane power than expected, and an enormous power surge like that of imogen’s previous. the beam is going, for now. potential for time and space dilation with a surge this close to the luxon.
they have split party time to get into chetney’s, fcg’s, and ashton’s backstories based on the locations: uthodurn first for the wildemount group and moving forward to aeor from there, and maybe investigation into hishari for the issylra?? group? potential for guests is there, especially if either half of bell’s hells runs into the crown keepers again. or if they find reani in uthodurn. she’s probably more likely to be an npc at this stage, but the possibility is there, however slim.

I am 👀 at this tweet Matt liked last night . . .
Tumblr media
So, to me, either this was about pushing Imogen to her breaking point (which, well done), or possibly referring to the fact that Yasha's took place in an otherworldly dream-like sequence. It's certainly a point in favor of it being a dream (too many echoes, hooded, shadowy attackers we never saw, Otohan just standing there watching and somehow appearing right in their way when they tried to leave, Imogen saying "Run" just like her mom in her Ruidus dreams . . . .)
Is it Thursday yet?? 👀👀👀👀

Just had a realization reading Mintywolf's amazing fic Remember Us:
Because Ashton is confirmed to speak Primordial, which is technically all the elemental languages and not just an individual dialect (Terran, Auran, Aquan, and Ingan), he should, technically, be able to have a mutually comprehensible conversation with Little Mister.
So now I'm really hoping that one day Ashton talks to the fire monkey. I'm sure it would be amazing and hilarious.

Did Dancer know about the name in F.C.G.'s face?
Was it just pure luck that she called him Fresh Cut Grass which matches?
Something more leading her to that name?
Either way, it's nice to know that F.C.G. was always F.C.G.

So matt definitely knew he was gonna pull this shit on vax like. Before the campaign even started, right? Because he knew what Ludinus wanted and he knew that will died in an attack on zephrah and orym didn’t know why
SO
Tumblr media
possible cracked theory
iirc orym was a backup character for vax, who of course died at the end of c1, and then Matt went right into writing c2, right? (Maybe?)
But depending on when Matt created Ludinus
It is entirely possible that matt has known Ludinus was gonna attempt pull this shit on vax for YEARS. Like since CAMPAIGN TWO.
