Magical Cores

In the beginning, there was only one Magical Core on Magix - the one to hold the essence of magic. But when the Great Dragon felt its life coming to an end, it split its magic into eight parts and placed them across Magix. Those parts of magic stabilized and turned into Magical Cores which had great impact on their surroundings. Throughout the millennia they shaped the nature and beings around them.

As people practiced more and more magic the Cores connected to them to give them more specific and stronger powers.

Arcadias Core is close to Lake Roccaluce. The Tree of Life holds the essence of magic.

Andros' Magical Core is a shimmering pearl which looks similar to a bubble. It floats in the ocean close to the main land, but the underwater kingdom Nereia is also not too far away. The Ocean Pearl of Andros has magic of water, oceans and fluids.

Callistos Magical Core is on the northernmost part of the planet. It has the appearance of a meteor, although it shares more similarities with a moon. During the summer months it always blocks the suns of Magix, creating an ongoing eclipse, which is the reason why it's always nighttime in Callisto. During the winter months it’s also the cause of the unending northern lights. This core has magic of everything celestial.

In Domino, in a trench between its two active volcanoes, rests the Vortex of Flames. This Core has magic of fire and heat.

Eraklyon's Core rests beneath the Kingdom in a limestone cave. It is a giant crystal with magic of rocks, ores and gems. It grant's magic to both Eraklyon, as well as the underground kingdom Downland.

Jotunns Magical Core was its landmass, which consisted purely of ice. Its magic is of ice and snow. But it's not as big and powerful anymore since Jotunn was destroyed. There is only one percent of the landmass left, an iceberg which floats on the southernmost part of the planet.

Linpheas Core is a big, golden and shining flower which blooms all year long. It's called Erdflower and it's magic is of earth and plants.

Melody's Core is a red rock formation which is reminiscent of a harp. With the way it's shaped the wind plays its own music when it's blowing through the rock formation. It's said the music never stops playing in Melody. The Magical Core is of air and sound.

Serenia's Core is a frozen lightning bolt stretching from the air down to the land. This Cores magic is of weather.

Solaria's Core is a little sun called the Sun of Solaria. It is the reason it's always daytime in Solaria. Its Magic is of light and shadow.

When the Great Dragon died the rest of their magic was set free. It flowed downward to a swampy land where it never took shape. It keeps floating around and might never rest. Pyros’ magic is wild and can only be controlled by strong magic users, but to more unexperienced ones it's rather impalpable.

Zeniths' Magical Core is different to the others since it's the only one that has been manmade by a group of powerful magic users. It's a glowing electro-sphere with magic of electricity and mind.

The Cores also had great influence in evolution.

All of them have pointed ears in some way, but they are very distinguishable. Arcadians share the most physical similarities with earthlings. Androsians have flat noses and their skin is smooth like a dolphins'. Their pupils are crescent-shaped which increases their underwater-vision. But they also need to drink more water than others. The women have gills on the sides of their torsi, at the rib cage area. Those are very faint when they are dry, looking more like scars. They also have the ability to turn into mermaids and live underwater, without getting affected by the pressure changes. Men are Tritons - they get fins on their backs, lower arms and lower legs as well as webbed fingers and toes when they step into water. They however, can't breathe underwater. Callistians tend to be taller – between around 1,90m and 2,25m (~ 6′2″- 7′5″), can survive without oxygen, don't get affected by pressure changes, have very thin skin and blue blood. Their sclera is black and their pupils are big four-pointed stars which gives them night vision whilst also making them very light sensitive. Dominians have sharp canines, pointed nails and vertical slit pupils. They have a naturally high body temperature with a warm aura, which keeps them warm in colder climates. They are also fire proof. Eraklyons have though skin, which has more of a yellow, orange or red -tinge. They are rather muscular and their bones are stronger, but they also need more time to heal and are less flexible. They have diamond shaped pupils, which increase their low-light vision. Jotunns have white to dark gray hair and sharp teeth with longer canine. They have a naturally low body temperature and are immune to the cold and freezing, but they can't stand heat. Linpheans have green blood and sclera. They tend to be smaller than others – between around 1,25m and 1,60m (~ 4′- 5′2″), but their height depends on how much time they spent in the sun when growing up. They are very flexible and their wounds heal faster, but they need to drink more water than others. Melodians can swivel their ears, have enhanced hearing and an absolute pitch. Additionally, they are sensitive to vibrations and able to use echolocation. But since their eyesight isn't the best their irises and pupils have the same color. Serenians have vitiligo and sharp teeth. They have thermal immunity and gain energy when getting struck by lightning. Solarians have a slight glow to their skin, a naturally high body temperature and are immune to heat and overheating, but they can't stand the cold. They have more energy when they are in sunlight, need to drink less water than others and have the best color vision. Zenithians don't need to sleep, but they have to rest, otherwise they would overheat. They have grey skin, a naturally low body temperature with a cold aura and hexagonal pupils.

Someone's magic starts connecting to a Magical Core once they are born. It takes up to five years in order to gain a strong connection. The more generations a family has lived in proximity to the same Magical Core, the stronger the magic can get.

The white stripe unites the top half of the flag, the identity portion, with the bottom half, the attraction/love portion.

Heyyy 💞 been re-reading em2 and i just wanted to know if you could write more headcanons about stella and her relashionship with her parents ( like her spending time with them , cute family bonding stuff , arguing, her fear and insecurities regarding them and like how she doesn't want to dissapoint them ) if you have inspiration of course ,no pressure. I have to say that you represented stella's complex relationship with her parents better than the writers did in the show . Exited to read the new chapter of all that glitters is not gold 💓

Here's some headcanons of stuff Stella does/did with her parents.

Dancing

It’s pretty obvious that Stella is clumsy. Really clumsy. So, when it becomes apparent that it’s not something she is going to overcome alone, at around five years of age, her mom contacts a dance instructor from Callisto to give her lessons twice a week. Stella doesn’t like it. Callistian music is enchanting, but a little too slow for her Solarian heart. She does all she can to get out of those lessons – she fakes temperatures (which is tricky, because Solarians’ body temperature is already a little higher than normal, due to their connection with the Sun and the heat in general), headaches, injuries of every sort … it's only when, sneaking into the ballroom during a party, when she was supposed to be already asleep, she sees her mom and dad dancing together, and smiling, that she decides to give dancing lessons a chance.

In the end, when she really starts trying, it doesn’t seem so bad. She learns to be more graceful, but unfortunately that applies only when she is dancing. And though Callistian music and dances are good, she prefers the Solarian ones. Especially the Dance of Happiness, her father had thought her that himself!

As she grows older, she has the honor of dancing both during Summer and Winter Solstice, joining the sun and moon dancers, respectively.

Sewing

Stella’s passion for fashion starts at an early age. Her first experiences with sewing regard altering her dolls’ clothes. When Luna enters her bedroom and finds little Stella in tears because she has pinched her finger with a needle, she sits down with her and decides she would teach her. She takes her to the Palace tailors and asks them to set up a workstation for her and the Princess.

Some of Stella’s most cherished memories of her childhood are of her and Luna bickering about color combinations and fabric. She and her mom DON’T have the same taste!

Power

Oh, she knows her parents are big shots, especially her dad. As a child, she always used to sneak into the throne room, sit her dolls on the floor and order them about from the throne. She loved playing Queen. Radius knows, of course. Everybody at court knows. When she is a little older, at nine or ten, the King allows her to sit by him during hearings and he starts teaching her what a King (or Queen) does and how they listen to their people. Those are maybe the only times when Stella manages to sit still and pay attention without falling asleep.

Birthdays

She know that her mom doesn’t like the Sun all that much, but Luna always makes an exception for Stella’s birthday. With Radius, they spend the day at the beach, building elaborate sandcastles, tanning (Radius and Stella), organizing fashion shows (Stella and Luna), and eating marshmallows. When the Suns go down, Luna moonbathes with her, while Radius tells them the story of the constellation of Stella’s choosing. For some reasons, those stories never leave her memory. She can name every star, constellation, and celestial body in Solaria and Callisto, and she is learning about the others.

Though the memories of those birthdays are carved in her heart, she knows those things have only happened two or three times. Her parents started growing apart when she was little, and though they always made an effort to make her birthday special, it wasn’t like before.

Singing

She doesn’t know many Callistian songs, but she knows hundreds in Solarian! Sacred and secular. Radius sings when he prays, and she sings too. It’s in the room of the Second Sun that she learns Old Solarian, when she sees her dad kneel and pray for strength, peace, and light. Always light. Light in the sky, light in his mind, light in their life.

Stella doesn’t sing in public, but she sings with Radius, from strong and meaningful songs to silly little ones. She’s sad when, getting older, she gets to do that less and less.

Naming on Magix

I wanted the naming on Magix to be different to the way it's done on Earth, to make sure the magicians (people of Magix) have more of an otherworldly feel to them.

So, as it's more likely for girls to become Fairies or Witches, it's common practice to wait up to five years until naming one's daughter, to have the name fit with their magical power. For boy's however, it's more probable that they become a Wizard or a Paladin and their magic type isn't as obvious. But usually the meaning of their name allude to their home country, at least most of the time.

I imagine surnames are translated from the different languages of the countries of Magix, since that is how everyone understands another - through a translation spell. So, the surnames as i write them down are more of a literal translation of their meaning.

In Arcadia bloodlines have been tracked through the mothers' and when the country began to have a bigger number of residents they decided it was best to start using last names. Since they wanted to make sure one's mother is always thought of, they made sure surnames honored the mothers. The first Fairy and the Ancestral Witches were the first to officially be mentioned with their last names. Those were written as of and the mother's name - Belladonna of Athan, Thamara of Athan, Liliss of Athan, Arcadia of Athan, ...

This kind of naming however, changed a bit as people moved away from the first city to build new homes around other Magical Cores.

In Andros a mothers' kids are getting addressed as her Waters - Aisha Waters of Niobe, Nabu Waters of Uma, ... In Callisto there is big importance on the stars, as Callistians are closer to them, at least through the magic of their home's Magical Core. Mothers are seen as the stars which brought up their children - Darcilia of Griffin Aster, ... In Domino a mother gives up a piece of her fire, to let a new one grow. In that believe her child is seen as her Flame - Daphne Flame of Marion, Mirta Flame of Brenda, ... In Eraklyon it was decided to think more of ones' father. For the  daughters, there is the suffix -s after their father's name, for sons, it's -z instead - Brandon Masonz Nobles have the crystal of their home town in their name - Diaspro Wyatts Amber And the imperial family has the name of the Magical Core of their empire added - Sky Erendorz Eraklyon In Jotunn its the mother's name with the suffix -is - Ísey Skadis In Linphea one is born from the mothers' family plant. So, it goes - Flora de Alyssa Rose In Melody the child is their mother's song - Musa Mai-Lin Song But the royal family strives for harmony in their kingdom, so the King, Queen and their direct descendants have Yijun added instead - Galatea Lian-Shi Yijun In Serenia the children are their mothers' winds - Timothy Aella-Wind, Storm Donna-Wind, ... In Solaria the kid's are seen as ray of their mothers' light - Stella Luna-Ray, Nova Elaine-Ray, ... In Zenith every family has a unique family name, which in a marriage gets changed for both of them. But in the children's documents are their parent's names as gender-neutral variants listed, like a middle name - Tecna al' Magenth Electron Cryos

Should one parent come from a different county, the naming style for the child will always fit to the country the parents decide to stay in, except for when they decide to stay in Magix City, in this case the child's surname conforms to the way of naming of Arcadia.

In the rare case in which a children's parents are unknown, they will be raised in Magix City and named of Arcadia, as a protective name - Riven of Arcadia
