You happily sling your arm across Choso's shoulder as you give him the most praises.

Choso faintly blushes at your close proximity, especially since you had this glow to you from just being on stage.

"It was nothing really."

He's lying. He's lying so hard right now. That song you just sung in front of thousands of people was his love letter to you. He knew no one other than you could encapsulate it as he intended, but seeing you sing his song for you with so much emotion had his heart sputtering.

"Alright, keep your secrets. By the way I saw Yuj and his friends out there, they comin' backstage?"

"No, not this time."

Just as he said that he heard his little brother yelling his name and trying to get his attention behind the security guards who were desperately trying to hold him and his friends back. Poor bodyguards. Choso internally groaned.

'Well. So much for me hoping to be alone with her.' Choso thought to himself. He went up to the bodyguards and told him to let them through. Immediately, Yuji and his friends ran right past him and up to you.

"Can we get your autograph?!"

"You were so cool out there!"

"Please marry me!!"

You chuckled to yourself and signed whatever they asked you to while conversing with them.

"See?! I told you I knew her!"

Yuji's friends all groaned at him and rolled their eyes.

"What? Y'all don't believe I know Yuj here? He was my first and still is my #1 fan."

"You tell them older sis."

Choso, who was in the background, grew red at the implications and told Yuji to calm himself.

Choso could only watch as the figure of his adoration was swarmed with questions and affection from his little brother's friends. Choso could only stay mad for a whopping minute before he cracked a smile, totally enveloped in admiring his long time crush.

"Dude, can you make it any more obvious?"

Choso was startled as he heard a voice speak up from next to him. He visibly relaxed as he noticed it was just Megumi, Yuji's boyfriend.

"Shut up Megumi, she'll hear you."

"Right, because your being totally inconspicuous." Megumi rolled his eyes causing Choso to let out a faint chuckle.

"You're not gonna ask for an autograph?"

"Nah, already got too many."

...

"Is it really that obvious?"

"What? You mean the way you stare at her like if she's the reason you breathe?"

Choso groaned and covered his face with the collar of his shirt.

"Then why doesn't she see it?"

"I don't know. Maybe she does and she just needs your confirmation. But what do I know, I'm just the guy that's been hanging around you guys for years."

With that Megumi left to go stand next to Yuji and try to get him to stop pestering you. He managed to succeed with not only getting Yuji to leave, but also their entire friend group. As they were leaving Megumi gave Choso a look of encouragement before exiting.

Choso was too preoccupied with watching his younger brother and his friends that he didn't notice you walk up to him until your sigh of exhaustion startled him.

"Kids huh?"

Choso smiled at your corny inside joke.

You were so exhausted in fact that you leaned in to hug Choso, resting all of your weight on him. Choso was flustered but welcomed the embrace.

"M'head is fuckn killn me" you muttered from Choso's shoulder.

Choso faintly smiled as he caressed your hair, which he knew you loved. You sighed and relaxed into him further.

"Piggyback ride me back to the bus?" You asked tiredly. Choso didn't even say a word as he turned around and squatted so you could climb onto his back. Once he made sure you were on and comfortable, he stood up and made the trek back to the band's tour bus.

Choso's neck tickled as you snuggled your nose into his neck. He could feel where you started to doze off and he tried to make the trek as smooth as possible so you could sleep.

"Mmm, luv yu s'much Cho." You muttered, barely conscious, before planting a light kiss on his neck.

"..! What?" Choso stumbled, almost falling, his face now a bright vermillion red.

"... Name?"

Once he got back to the bus his band members bombarded him with questions on why his face was so red and if he finally confessed before he harshly shushed them.

A/N: again I must clarify that like Colin Zabel's fic, I have not seen this series (sorry) so maybe what I write is not entirely accurate with the show

You and your boyfriend were looking for places for rent or for sale where you could put your little tea house. Being able to serve anything, even an old, abandoned shed, as long as it was located in a nice landscape with a good view, nothing else mattered. Luca was driving his convertible car making your hair blow in the wind. The times were beautiful at that time in Copenhagen, you were wearing sunglasses and a cute flowery dress that your boyfriend loved every time you wore it. For his part, Luca was wearing a white short-sleeved shirt, had taken off his kitchen apron and wore blue jeans underneath. Her blond hair also danced in the breeze.

They were driving through the streets of Denmark with the sun shining on their heads. Months ago you told Luca about your dreams and now they were finally coming true. A little anxious you looked to your right trying to find a good place, your boyfriend caressed your knee with the intention of letting you know that everything would be fine

"Don't worry sweetheart, you'll see that we'll find the perfect place"

"I hope so love, only you know how much I waited for this moment"

Yes, Luca knew it well. So many hours practicing pastry and talking about your hobbies, every time he left work and showed up at your house to teach you how to make Aeblekage or a Koldskål you told him how you were planning to open your own little tea house. He looked at you in admiration and assured you that you were going to succeed. And here they were now, looking for a place to settle and where you could cook your delicious desserts accompanied by the love of your life.

At last they had arrived. After tiring around several streets, they found an old abandoned cafe with a dilapidated and crooked sign. It had a window on one side and the walls were dark brick. Above the front door hung a white awning with red stripes, unfortunately it was dirty and had a hole in the middle. Despite everything, you two loved how comfortable and familiar it looked and best of all, it was close to the port just as you wanted. They got out of the car and you began to admire the view, in the distance you could see the water and anchored boats.

"Don't you love it? the place, the sea breeze-you inhaled with your mouth open enjoying the air on your face- I would give anything for more days like this"

Luca looked at you lovingly and wrapped his arms around your waist looking where you were looking

"Have I told you how adorable you are when you talk about what you like?" -Luca kissed your forehead

You wrinkled your nose in contentment. "You tell me every day, hun"

"C'mon your place awaits you"

"Our. Our place awaits us"

They both entered the old building. But happiness disappeared from your pores when you saw that it seemed more dilapidated on the inside than on the outside. The peeling paint on the walls was falling apart, leaving a heap of dust on the floor. There was no furniture left. The wooden ceiling was moldy in places. You couldn't stop the disappointment from drawing on your face. Luca put his arm around your shoulders.

"Hey love it's alright. We can remodel it and I promise you it will be like new. Why don't you go check out the backyard while I find something to clean up?"

Luca is that down to earth and that's what you loved about him. He always found simple solutions to problems that seemed huge. You opened the French window that led to the yard and you felt the flame of hope rekindle in your chest. It was definitely much better than the inside of the building. It wasn't that big, but its low brick walls delimited a large plot. The floor was concrete, and pretty orange flowering vines hung from the walls. You were already imagining how you could use the space by placing beautiful tables with umbrellas.

"Hey babe, I found some brooms and a shovel-"

He stopped when he saw the yard. He also found it beautiful. you turned around with a smile

"So.. what are we waiting for? let's restore this place"

Luca offered you a shovel and together they began to sweep the floor, the dust made them cough and tickled their noses that made you sneeze like a kitten, Luca laughed every time he heard you. The following days were exhausting but pleasant. You bought turquoise paint for the inside of the walls, you two had a blast painting and doing a little mischief

"(Y/N) what do you think if we paint a strip of small sailboats in a darker color? It would go all the way across the wall, but we would need a stencil"

Luca pointed with a finger where the stencil would go, with his muscular and bare arm you couldn't help but pretend to pay attention to him and with your hand that held the brush, paint his wrist. He looked at you surprised, throwing you a reproachful look but deep down he couldn't suppress a smile.

"Oh (Y/N) you're very immature"

You closed your eyes laughing at what he took advantage of to paint the tip of your nose. When you felt something cold and wet on your nose, you opened your eyes and mouth offended, with a defiant grimace they started a paint war, their laughter mixed and echoed throughout the room, your boyfriend grabbed your wrists with the intention that your brush doesn't touch his face. In the end they ended up in a fiery kiss with their hands stained with paint leaving marks on your breasts and buttocks and with yours likewise scattered throughout their entire body, they looked like an abstract painting.

Every day you two were buying things to decorate the tea house. They had bought beautiful brown leather sofas at auction. You had gotten landscape paintings to hang on the wall at a vintage store. The most difficult thing had been to remove the wood from the roof, since some had been ruined by humidity. But by turns they had proposed to remove them little by little. Luca climbed a ladder and took some out, then you, in your eagerness to help, told him to lift you up so you could reach the roof. You always felt a tingle of adrenaline in your belly every time your boyfriend grabbed you by the waist and made you sit on his shoulders. And when you two couldn't handle everything on your own, you hired masons and workers who were very helpful.

With a little effort they managed to restore everything that was damaged, they changed the previous awning for a bigger one and a green one. They placed pots on the outside door and some hanging from the window. You were even able to put the tables you wanted in the backyard with their matching black iron chairs. When everything was ready in terms of decoration and remodeling, you went to the kitchen to prepare tea and desserts, it was the only thing that was missing before opening.

"Dear, could you help me with the dough?"-you asked him nicely

You were about to make some kind of Danish apple pie. Luca approached from behind, pulling his body against your back, which made a shiver run through your body. His arms and hands on top of yours accompanied your movements with a slow and loving rhythm. They stretched the dough back and forth and then rolled it back into a ball. Sometimes Luca teased you mischievously kissing your neck or behind your ear, with his nose buried in your hair. His kisses went down to your shoulder, making you sigh

"Luca…-you said in a warning tone- How unprofessional"

"Oh come on I know you love it"

You turned your head to kiss him. They finished cooking several desserts and also the different teas including iced teas.

And the great day had arrived to open the doors of your tea house. It would only take a few minutes to welcome the people of the city. Both were nervous but especially you, you couldn't believe that your dream would finally come true. With trembling hands you took the key that opened the door, put it in the lock and turned it. It was done

"We did it.."-you looked at his face with happy tears in your eyes.

"You did it"- he corrected you wiping your tears - "It's your dream, don't forget it"

"Dreams can be shared, and that's what I'm doing with you"

He looked at you sweetly and grabbed your chin with his thumb to kiss you passionately. Customers started arriving for snacks, and soon the place was packed both inside and out. Luca promised to help you in the kitchen and you would go and serve the dishes along with the tea. The atmosphere was warm and welcoming, everyone was happy and so were you. You almost needed four more arms to serve so many people but you didn't care because that was what you wanted, a place where people can remember the warmth of their home while tasting delicacies prepared with love and delicacy, and if your boyfriend was by your side better. At the end of the day when people left and your place was about to close you and your boyfriend lay exhausted on the leather sofa, it was a busy day but it was satisfying at the same time. You placed your head on Luca's lap as he caressed your cheek.

"Today was the best day of my life, I still can't believe that all of this is real. It's like a sweet dream that I never want to end"

"But it's real love, and we made it together. Although if you want I can pinch you to prove it"

You two laughed amused letting the now empty room fill with your warm laughter that then floated in the air like a sweet dew.

there r few words to describe the amount of guilt, horror, and devastation that jack feels after what he's done, all he's lost, and what he has to do to survive. he has a year of his life that he was literally possessed by a demon and went around fucking tearing humans apart and eating their remains. even as he's """recovering""" and settling into a cabin, his friendships with the creeps, trying to just feel okay. he's on his last leg, he can tell that people know he's a shell of what he was but they'll never know how warm, kind, inviting he used to be. "i went downhill at such a steep inline" ... yea he did his life changed immeasurably in a single night and it's never coming back. the lyrics "'Cause I was born into the world on a silken cloud / And I got bored of the world before I hit the ground" ... while he had a ton of pressure. he loved his life, loved his family, was the type to constantly express how grateful he was for everything that got him where he was. and then he hit rock fucking bottom because he wanted to chase a little excitement with the pretty girl inviting him to join a 'club.' poor guy

i dont think i need to explain this because um..... lols... liu just wants to fucking move on. he just wants to escape everything. he wants his family back, including the little brother he'd play catch with in the front yard for so many years. but he has his moments where it all comes barreling back, and he makes real fucking brash decisions - he lost his marriage because he spiraled trying to find jeff and moved to fucking alabama. so you know.

again, i dont think i need to explain this. maybe this could be mary(jane's wife) singing to jane, cuz she was one of janes main supports after her parents death. jane can only act strong for so long but she is so so so fucking sad and mourning and she was always so soft and gentle and sweet and she lost everything in a single night. she spent a short period of time filled with rage, as she would be, but her story eventually evolves into her just wanting to help others with their cases, be happy with her wife, take care of sally, grow old, make her parents proud. she's climbed mountains and is probably in the best place of all the creeps. holds her. i dont touch her character too often because i just want her to settle happily lolz..

Well, less than twelve hours after wondering if I should make it: it's here, the official playlist for On Sea, Sunlight, and Sky! Cover art and everything, too.

Since Spotify doesn't allow track-by-track notes to be added, I've included commentary on each included song under the cut (as well as their names and artists so anyone who's not on Spotify can go look them up). If you're short on time, the most important thing to know is that order is not important here, as this is a rough collection of songs that either inspired or act as parallels to the series. You know, for when you want the energy of the fics without actually reading them.

Before the notes: here's the full cover art. I sourced all the illustrations from free art websites and Google listings, then edited them together and did some minor color correction in Sketchbook (on mobile, too!). I tried to go for a scrapbook style look, so I hand-cut each piece out with a rough eraser for a papery feel, then added text that I formatted in Canva, pulled the background out of, and textured.

Now: the tracklist and commentary!

"Escape Route" by Paramore: Given Nya's MO of GTFO throughout the series, I thought this would be a nice capstone track. I especially love the lines "Not quite a victory to run from your problems/But it's the only plan that I got, the only plan that I got" and "Where I'm going is everyone's story" in a meta kind of way. Where she's going - or trying to - is indeed this entire story.

"The Ballad of Mona Lisa" by Panic! At The Disco: Three out of four entries in OSSAS take their name from "Kaleidoscope Eyes," a bonus track from the same album as this one that's not on streaming services (although you can find it on YouTube). In the absence of the title track, I picked "Mona Lisa" for its ethereal opener and ominous guitar work. I also adore the line "A lonely speaker in a conversation/Her words are swimming through his ears again" for the prologue of IICT(OSC).

"Small Cuts" by The Brobecks: This is where "It Doesn't Take Much (To Cover Up Small Cuts)" takes its name from. I think the themes of covering up pain while wanting someone to acknowledge it works very well for that particular fic, but also for the series as a whole. My favorite OSSAS-ish line in this one is "She will leave you deaf and bewildered/Oh, how she floats like a butterfly, stings like a killer."

"Visitation Of The Ghost" by The Brobecks: From the same album as "Small Cuts," this is a delightfully spooky track (and if you want extra drama, go look up the "fancy studio version"). The second verse is especially relevant for reasons I'll try to articulate in the finale of this year's installment, if all goes well, so pay attention to that one ;)

"GLOOMTOWN BRATS" by I DONT KNOW HOW BUT THEY FOUND ME: This track brings us three for three on Dallon Weekes songs, and there's more where that came from! A brand-new release, this song is a panicky, funky track that acts as a nod towards Nya's canon distrust towards overblown luxury and Nadakhan's veneer of gentlemanly behavior.

"Tell That Mick He Just Made My List of Things To Do Today" by Fall Out Boy: It's loud, it's fast, it's snarky, it's bitter - this is a song to run away to. Take a look at that chorus, the chunk with the bridges and the piss, and tell me otherwise. This might be a personal thing, but the swell of the volume between the verses and the choruses makes me think of swooping ocean waves.

"Playing God" by Paramore: At its core, OSSAS is a power struggle. This song exemplifies that with its own hefty dose of Nya-aligned snark and poignant venting. I especially like the pairing of the lines "Next time you point a finger, I might have to bend it back or break it off/Next time you point a finger, I'll point you to the mirror" as a character analysis of both Nya and Nadakhan (as a bonus, this line will become very relevant in the IICT(OSC) finale - and not for the reasons you think).

"Nearly Witches (Ever Since We Met...) by Panic! At The Disco: Another one from the album that kicked all this off, this is yet another spooky, dreamlike track, with an undercurrent of lost love and regret that serves Nadakhan especially well. (For him, I think it's fun to take the shouted "And I regret never letting you go!" out of the song's context for the IICT(OSC) opening sequence.)

"mirrorball" by Taylor Swift: Something a little softer and solidly out of the 2000s alt rock scene, this song works nicely for the introspective sections of the series, especially when it comes to how Nya processes her situation. For that, I really like the line "I'll show you every version of yourself tonight/I'll get you out on the floor" and the general quietness of the track.

"Look Who's Inside Again" by Bo Burnham: This one is pretty specific to IICT(OSC) and actually almost gave the fic its title! It ultimately didn't, but I think it's still a good fit. If I listed every line that fit the story, I'd be writing out the whole song, so do us both a favor and go play it once or twice.

"Hold Me Like A Grudge" by Fall Out Boy: Yet another snarky one that I particularly like for both Nya and as a tongue-in-cheek reference to Nadakhan's constant physical contact despite the fact that he's growing to resent her and his own failings (literally holding her like a grudge). Nya is nothing if not a "full-time problem". (Also: the bass line on this is incredible.)

"Carry On" by Coeur de Pirate: This song actually inspired the post-Seabound Nya fics I wrote a while back, so it's a Nya song to me now. In the context of the newest series installment, I love the line "The light of the sundowns/On my fate" as a little bit of foreshadowing.

"YES MOM" by Tessa Violet: This one is unadulterated independence, power posing, and self-confidence - that is, Nya every time she kicks off some new menace behavior. "Push me down and I bounce right back/Trampoline and it's in my past/Rising like a phoenix, making fire from the ash" is a FANTASTIC sequence for her, in both the context of her little successes in this series and her origin as Samurai X.

"The Carpal Tunnel Of Love" by Fall Out Boy: Surrealist Wentz lyricism at its best, I chose this one for the underlying themes of relationships that are apparently destined to never work (like the one Nya's trying to avoid) and the sheer energy. I especially like the Wentz screaming section in the middle, and the lyrics for that part are pretty relevant - although unintelligible, so you might want to just look them up and read them on your own.

"Say Amen (Saturday Night)" by Panic! At The Disco: The music video for this one inspired the combat sequence in IICT(OSC). Aside from that influence, I think the lyrics that swing from wild confidence to existential despair are a great fit for the tone of this series.

"bury a friend" by Billie Eilish: I love that this one opens with a series of questions that range from simply wondering what's wrong with someone to wondering about what happens after death. If that's not a fun fit for Nya's arc in this series (we'll get to the death thing eventually, don't worry), I don't know what is. Again, there's a nice sense of bitterness in here, as well as those ominous male backing vocals muttering "Careful" and echoing the lyrics here and there.

"Choke - Acoustic" by I DONT KNOW HOW BUT THEY FOUND ME: Both versions of this track are awesome, but I like the gentle, almost taunting creepiness of the acoustic style in this one. The entire song is about hating a place, which I think is appropriate given the fact that Nya's trapped with someone she hates for the first three fics on the timeline and with memories she hates for "Small Cuts." In IICT(OSC), she loosely considers burning the Temple down as a means of escape, but finds that she can't, which lines up beautifully with "If I could burn this town, I wouldn't hesitate/To smile while you suffocate and die." And, in true Weekes style, there's another little commentary against undeserved wealth that works nicely with Nya's disdain for her situation.

"Absinthe" by I DONT KNOW HOW BUT THEY FOUND ME: As of IICT(OSC), beverages are a major plot device, which plays nicely with 'Whatever they give you, stop drinking it down!" and the title of the track. If "Choke" is Nya's TLDR opinion of the situation, "Absinthe" is Nadakhan's - but we'll get to that in the finale.

"Modern Day Cain" by I DONT KNOW HOW BUT THEY FOUND ME: Last IDKHOW track for a while, I promise! And I hate that I keep saying the finale is going to make a lot of these make sense, but if it's true for one song, it's true for this one, which did inspire some of what I'm working on for the final confrontation.

"The Calendar" by Panic! At The Disco: This one is only here for the lines "There is simply nothing worse than knowing how it ends" and "Anticipation's on the other line, and obsession called while you were out" as very thematically-appropriate lines. Also, a straight bop.

"Patches of Sky" and "Path of the Eclipse" by Coeur de Pirate from Child of Light: A little instrumental break, these are two of the pieces I keep on my default writing playlist. Ominous and optimistic in equal measure, I think these two fit OSSAS well.

"Disloyal Order of Water Buffaloes" by Fall Out Boy: This one is an absolute goldmine of lines that could work for either of the series leads. For Nya, I really like the repeated "Boycott love! Detox just to retox!/And I'd promise you anything for another shot at life/Imperfect boys with their perfect ploys/Nobody wants to hear you sing about tragedy!" For Nadakhan, I like (well, not LIKE like, but I definitely think it works) the slightly stalkerish and somewhat paranoid "Little girl, you got me staring odd/Or was that just a telescopic camera nod?"

"Time To Dance" by Panic! At The Disco: This one is perfect in ways I can't articulate succinctly, although I do want to say I love the detached and kind of panicky sarcasm of the opener as a summary of the overall series mood: "Well, she's not bleeding on the ballroom floor just for the attention/'Cause that's just ridiculously odd/Well, she sure is gonna get it!" There's also some desperation in there that works very well for every failed escape attempt or revenge plot.

"Leave Me Alone - Piano Version" by I DONT KNOW HOW BUT THEY FOUND ME: Surprise, more IDKHOW! The lyrics on this one are pretty straightforward - read it as an insulting monologue being hurled at Nadakhan if you'd like. I chose this one for the lonely, vaguely-frightened vocals over the stripped-down piano backing.

"Boy Division" by My Chemical Romance: I like this one for its high energy and fight scene vibes, but most importantly, look at those lyrics - don't they read as someone lamenting a situation they put themselves into? I think that works well for what I've done and plan to do to Nadakhan in this year's installment and any future ones.

"To The End" and "It's Not a Fashion Statement, It's a Fucking Deathwish" by My Chemical Romance: Songs from Three Cheers for Sweet Revenge automatically get Skybound brownie points for all the gore and the wedding theme. "To The End" reads as a mockery of Nadakhan's marriage plot; "Deathwish" is a fun examination of resilience and, well, revenge - I adore the line "I'm taking back the life you stole/This hole you put me in wasn't deep enough, and I'm climbing out right now/You're running out of places to hide from me!" as a general summary of what Nya's doing the whole time.

"F.T.W.W.W." by My Chemical Romance: Again, excellent action sequence energy here; this is what flipping the bird would sound like if it made noise. In the context of Skybound and this series, I really appreciate the line "The heart you got, it ain't the one you need."

"Karma" by Taylor Swift: Listen, this entire series is an excuse to flip the script on Nadakhan and let Nya take a crack at the whole "read your enemies and then use their flaws to beat them to an emotional pulp" tactic, because frankly that's a cool narrative device. Here's where "Karma" works best: remember the line in "Wishmasters" where Nya, with little other comment, tells Nadakhan that he'll be sorry? That's this song. There's a sort of "I know you're about to get your ass beat" energy, a sort of wink wink from the singer that subtly pokes the subject with the knowledge that only one person here is in the right.

GOD yeah. maybe baba has been really good at school and she's completed all her swimming lessons and idk generally has just been a really cool kid, and matty's like to you "we should get her a present"; you're like "yes. and you know, i think it's time she had her own guitar. i know she can use yours, but babe she's tiny lol she needs one she can actually play without hurting her hand", and matty's eyes just light up like "YES genius idea, sweetheart". so he brings it up to your daughter one saturday evening when they're washing the dishes, and she's so excited she nearly smashes a plate lmfao - the next morning, she barrels into your bedroom at half 7 and jumps on matty like "dad! it's guitar day! wake up!", and matty's like "right yeah ok give me a minute go and get some cereal". as soon as she's out of the room he snuggles back into you like "regretting my decision a bit now", and you giggle like "nah, you'll have the best day with her, you know that". and matty's like "yeah. what are you up to today?", and you're like "hmmm idk. maybe a little pampering day? a bubble bath sounds good"; matty kisses your neck like "mmm, sad i'll not get to see you in it", and you're like "matthew come on get your head out of the gutter", and matty's like "an impossible task when you have a wife as hot as i do" lol. and yeah, you do indulge him for a minute and make out, until your daughter shouts from the kitchen "dad! stop kissing mum and get up!" lmao - once you're both up, matty's like "how did you know we were kissing?" and she's like "because you're ALWAYS kissing", and matty shrugs like "ok yeah fair. we're just in love, though, munchkin, you'll understand when you're older", and baba winces like "no thanks" (you're like "that's my girl!").

anyway, the two of them head into london to go guitar shopping - baba runs full pelt down the street towards the shop, matty lowkey out of breath trying to keep up with her lmao (but he's grinning the whole time at how hype she is). she gets a little bit shy and overwhelmed once she's actually in though, clinging to matty's leg quite adorably as the staff (who know matty fairly well because he's a regular lmfao) ask how they can help - matty ruffles her hair and encourages her like "go on, sweetheart, tell them what you're looking for", and she clears her throat and says "i'd like a 3/4 size acoustic, please. but i don't need a beginner one cos i've been playing dad's so i'm not a beginner" (her pride is evident in the last bit, and matty has to fight to not get emotional about his talented baby lol). and the guy from the shop is really good - he leads her and matty to the correct section, talking them through some of the features of various guitars (matty crouches to her level and patiently explains a bit more about some of them too) and helping her narrow down what exactly she's looking for. he takes one down from the wall for her to try, and as she sits and automatically tests each string to see if it's tuned right the guy from the shop turns to matty like "wow, she really does know her stuff. and i didn't want to bring it out immediately and stereotype her, but we do have that exact guitar in rose pink through the back, if she'd be interested..." - matty's like "oh my god she'd love that lol. yeah, please bring it through", and as the guy goes to get it matty goes and sits with his daughter, who's placidly strumming chords with a little concentrated look on her face. he's like "will you play something for me? anything you want. just to see if you like the feel of it", and she nods and starts strumming something he soon recognises as the only exception by paramore, and he hums along to it a little bit emotionally (his baby!) - he's like "when did you learn that?", and she shrugs like "a couple of weeks ago. mum likes that song, so when i was at uncle adam's i asked if he knew the chords and he wrote them down for me. haven't played it for her yet though", and matty honest to god gets a bit teary like "that's really sweet of you, munchkin, i think mum'll love that" and gives her a little hug. anyway, the shop guy comes back with a guitar case like "how are you getting on with that one?", and your daughter's like "i like it a lot i think i want to get it", and the guy's like "well, before you take it home with you, i thought you might want to see the other colour we have it in..." - he hands your daughter the case to open, and matty gets his phone out to film just as she unzips it and GASPS like "it's pink?! dad, look! they have it in pink!" in total awe. matty giggles like "is this the one for you?", and before he's even finished speaking she's nodding frantically like "yes please can i get it please please please" - she looks so like you all excited that he wouldn't be able to resist her even if he hadn't agreed to buy her a guitar, bless her. so yeah, the guitar is bought (with a shoulder strap to match) and lovingly carried home by your daughter, but not before matty snaps a pic of her grinning as she holds it and sends it into the band fam gc (everyone is Overcome by how cute she is) and makes it his lockscreen. and maybe a week or so later, she gets another guitar-related gift from matty - a set of picks with her name on them, just like the ones the boys use onstage <3

I recently saw an interview with the singer of Paramore (can remember her name for the life of me) and she talked about how she and the band grew to regret how much they head-banged in their youth during concerts. And how lots of older rockstars kept telling them they’d end up regretting it, which they did cause she talked about how much it messed her neck up and how she has PT all the time

And it just had me thinking about Eddie, in his 20’s touring with his band after making it big. He head bangs too much and starts to regret it by the time he’s in his 30’s. He has PT for it that he actually takes seriously, but uses his neck injury as an excuse to ask for neck massages from you. By the time he’s in his 50’s he’s cursing younger him and talking about how he can “feel the rain” in his neck

20s rockstar eddie does not care much for his health. i mean, not in the grand scheme of things. he drinks and he smokes and he doesn't sleep well because he feels invincible! he definitely doesn't think about what damage he's doing to his neck! but it comes back to bite him in the ass.

well into adulthood, he's dealing with pain and stiffness and he hates it because it's uncomfortable but he also hates it because it makes him feel OLD. so he goes to pt and he follows the doctor's orders but he's not happy about it. and that's why i give him massages. it's under the guise of soothing his pain and stiffness but it's really just to make him feel adored and loved and still on top of the world like he used to feel.

also. "feeling the rain" in his neck made me laugh out loud because that's such a WAYNE thing. eddie grows up hearing wayne talking about feeling weather changes in his joints and eddie's like. what the fuck are you talking about. crazy old man. but then he hits his 50s and he mentions feeling the rain in his neck and then has to be dramatic and lay himself over the couch like a victorian era damsel in distress because he's "turning into wayne, it's all over for me."

Currently Watching: I've honestly been just rewatching stuff lately because I'm in kind of a lull with tv shows. Some more extra content for the few readers who actually listen to the chapter songs or songs I sneak into the story.

Spoilers ahead up to chapter 15 so read at your own risk!

Chapter 1 Song | Firestarter by The Prodigy: The Prodigy is one of my all time favorite bands so it was only right to start the story off by making one of their songs an intro to Frost as a character. The moment Firestarter came on, I thought "this is Frost" because it foreshadows her personality and temper, along with the past she's known for, and hints that she's bringing that trouble with her. Additionally, I found it cool that there's a "Hey" repeating throughout the song. It's like she's greeting the TF141 as she joins the team, saying "Hey, I've arrived to complicate your lives."

2. Chapter 2 Song | it’s ok, you’re ok by Bonjr: although, it's an instrumental song, the title is relevant as it's what the officer says to little Frost once he finds her ("It's ok, you're ok. You're safe."). It's the first bit of comfort she ever receives from another person.

3. Chapter 3 Song | Conspiracy by Paramore: Frost finds out that the team lied and knew about Doberman before her transfer. Then, Price went behind her back and invited Keegan to join them on the mission. At this point, she still doesn't trust the team and realizes that the power she had as a solo operator is now fading. She begins to understand that she depends on the decisions of the team.

4. Chapter 4 song | Arrow by Surf Curse: This song is about what's going on inside Frost's head. It's the first time readers get a glimpse of her vulnerability, the way she deals with all the trauma she carries with her, and how bad she is at understanding her own emotions.

5. Chapter 5 Song | Night out by Radiator Hospital: Oopsie. This was just straight foreshadowing of what happens to Sergeant Bo.

6. Chapter 6 Song | It's All So Incredibly Loud by Glass Animals: We're inside Frost's head again. She's struggling with the loss of Bo and her guilt.

7. Chapter 7 Song | Tears by Boy Harsher: History repeats itself. Price asks Frost to join Las Cuchillas again. The song focuses on her discomfort at the thought of going back and foreshadows the origin of her knife throwing skills ("follow the knife").

8. Chapter 8 Song | Knife Prty by Deftones: Once again, a simple play on words. Frost takes on the members of Las Cuchillas, stealth-style with knives. The song foreshadows Frost's successful initiation and Carmen's pining for Frost in the following chapters.

9. Chapter 9 Song | Ese Hombre by LA INDIA: I fucking adore this song. Basically, the whole song is about a horrible man the singer is in a relationship with. She spits at his face, devours him. It's iconic. BUT although she hates him, he is still her man. This is how Carmen sees Frost. Frost has done her wrong, but she's still her Cocaina.

How can you not love it? She goes off lmao.

10. Chapter 10 Song | Reckoner by Radiohead: Aww this one. This one makes me siiiick. We're in Soap's head now... That sweet idiot. Soap risks his life to see and check on Frost while she's out with Las Cuchillas. The main reason for this song choice is the melody. It's as if I'm listening to Soap's desperation to save Frost in a form of a melody, how his thoughts and his heart tear at his helplessness. There's also this very simple line that perfectly explains his need to protect Frost at that very moment:

11. Chapter 11 Song | Summer Again by The Wytches: Frost loses Carmen. The grief is too much for her. She decides to leave. The whole song is just... just listen to it. It's an incredible musical depiction of vulnerability and pain. I feel like someone is tearing my heart open when I listen to it.

First line: Frost never got to tell Carmen how much she actually did care about her, second line: Frost is sitting on the floor with Carmen's body in her lap, third line: Frost decides to run away

12. Chapter 12 Song | Bad Timing by dEUS: Pretty self-explanatory. Frost comes back, only to find Soap and Jazz in her room. We all remember this one. Ouch.

13. Chapter 13 Song | You Do Something To Me by Paul Weller: The team goes on a team building trip. She's still in denial, but Frost realizes she has some kind of feelings for Soap since she is bothered by Jazz and they have a brief tense moment after the volleyball match. Beautiful song.

14. Chapter 14 Song | Vale by Maribou State: Frost starts pining for Soap, badly. She's barely holding herself together next to him, especially on the beach after the kayaking accident. The song shows Frost's internal vulnerability, excitement and realization that she does in fact, feel him.

15. Chapter 15 Song | Die On A Rope by The Distillers: Love the energy of this song and thought it would be awesome for an action-packed chapter. Also, a pretty literal play on words. Ghost and Frost are stuck on a cliff. Ghost urges her to jump to him but she's reluctant to do it. Will she jump? Will they die on a rope if she does?

Blue Nights by Joan Didion (surprisingly stunningly lovely and very much something I needed this past month)

The Werewolf of Whitechapel by Suzannah Rowntree (a delightful romp my only qualm is it feels like it ends so soon! but truly that is a me problem because I gulped it down too fast. Truly I love when I can tell the author cares for the time period dearly and also all the female characters made my heart swell!!)

The Other Bennet Sister by Janice Hadlow (I was very surprised by how much this book touched me even as it frustrated me because it's inherently about someone perpetually made to be distrustful of other people and me who is always trying to believe in people is sobbing on the other side of the line begging her to look up! but by far the most loving and polished Austen-like that I've ever read and much, much more gentle to me than I ever could've anticipated. I've kept the library copy on my nightstand for the past week so I can gently touch its cover every now and then and take strength from it which is a dear honor in my life teehee!)

Deathmark by Kate Stradling (the second act is WONDERFUL and actually it surprised me so much that I had to stop reading for a little while because I was crying too much. The ending wraps up a little at a breakneck speed but I will simply read anything she writes so I don't mind, plus anything that spawns a Blue Castle reread for me is well worth it in my mind <3)

Code Girls by Liza Mundy (reading this involved a lot more of the cogs of my brain having to whirl about than I realized going in but quite engrossing indeed)

The Collected Poems of Wendell Berry by Wendell Berry (I just think his poems are about joy and that means a great deal to me)

A Wizard of Earthsea by Ursula K. Le Guin (I need to write up a full review for this at least for my GR account but this was my first read since I was a child and yet all of it was so tinged with an ache of familiarity to me that I know I've carried it with me my entire life and it has never stopped reverberating with me. Vetch my beloved always!!)

Hallo! I don't follow you but I came here to ship, so even if I don't know you I'll do my best to do you justice relying solely on your vibes.

First, you're super pretty and you look like a fun person to have around, I don't really know but I'm assuming that you probably like to sign at the top of your lungs when you're out for a ride, and I think I ship you with Bakugo and Kuro.

With Katsuki because I feel like this would be a pretty case of "opposites attract" I don't have much of a reference to point out if you guys are similar or not, but you look like you actually enjoy romance and even if he's a super tsundere he's so soft when he's alone with you, he would probably scoff around about how "You're so needy and clingy" but as soon as you get your hands away from him pretending to be hurt, he would drag you back so fast that it would probably cause you whiplash, he would put you on his lap turning his head away so you can't see the blush dusting his pretty cheeks, if you giggle he would pretend to be mad and just shut you up with kisses, he would pretend to hate if you sing loudly in the car telling you how much you're distracting him but he has the softest look you can probably see the hearts inside his eyes, you bring that fun side out of him that he probably didn't let out while growing up, he enjoys every moment by your side and his favourite thing about you is how much you ignore his cold stares and harsh demeanour like it doesn't affect you, until you're scolding him for going too far on certain occasions, he would apologise softly under his breath and hold you, you are his favourite person (following close is Kirishima except when you guys band together to bother him). He loves you because you are there for him when the ghosts from the past come back to haunt him, holding him close, sometimes in silence, you never judge him and that helps him to be vulnerable with you, when you need advice he would give you the most objective point of view he never lets his feelings for you get in the way when you need a solid opinion because he loves you too much and just wants the best for you, sometimes he sounds mean but that's just the way he is, he would tell you "that's the dumbest thing you have ever done, that's why you need to correct this and that" and if you get sad or mad he would say "Hey, you know I love you, you know what you did or said is wrong and you need to change that" as you can see you give balance to each other lives. (Also you are his only exception so expect a ring at some point in your relationship)

He thinks you're perfect for him, you are a goddess he wants to worship for the rest of his life, he thought he wasn't up for commitments but if you're going to look at him that way with soft eyes and sweet good mornings every day, well now he's buying a ring, you guys bring the best and the worst out of each other in the best possible way, oh are you laughing at him because he's having the worst case of bed hair ever? n e ways, FOR STARTERS, i have been going through such a pop punk, pop rock & emo phase rn idek. i just absolutely adore silly, nostalgic, lowkey cringy (/pos) music.

i have always been an mcr enjoyer and i think that’s how it began tbh. UMM UMMM my fav bands rn are pierce the veil and green day. i have also been blasting paramore’s riot album (crushcrushcrush <3333)

OH!!!! paramore also recently dropped a NEW album and that’s super special to me. i listened to that for like three weeks or smth. big man little dignity is my fav song from thta rn.

pierce the veil has so many good songs!!!!! to name a few, there’s “circles,” “yeah boy and doll face,” “falling asleep on a stranger,” “i’d rather die than be famous,” and “the balcony scene.” (can you tell my fav album is a flair for the dramatic?)

pierce the veil is SOOOO!!!!!!!!!! they debuted their first album in the late 2000s but i think that they’re rlly important to mention when talking abt emo music and shit idk. i love them, so maybe i am biased 😋

Album Review: This is Why by Paramore

This album came out yesterday at the time of writing this so I'm trying to get on top of things!! I'm reviving this dead blog for this record because I fucking loooooove Paramore and I wanna talk about them. So anyway.

This Is Why

To be honest, when I first heard this song, I didn't like it that much. It sounded very... average? It's not bad, it's pretty good, but it's not what I was looking for from Paramore. It was disappointing as their comeback single and made me less excited for this album than I should have been, since the rest of the album is more interesting. My favorite part is the end when Hayley lets out a powerful belt, and the last chorus is altered melodically and rhythmically.

2. The News

OH BABY THAT'S WHAT I'VE BEEN WAITING FOR!!! This is Paramore!!!!! When I heard this song for the first time, I was so happy that it didn't sound like This is Why (sorry to people who liked that song lol). The roughness and strength of Hayley's voice is phenomenal in this song, and I love the slight vocal distortion when she says "turn on, turn off the news", and during the bridge. I have a soft spot for rhythmic speaking in rock songs, especially with the vocal distortion!! In my opinion, this one should have been the leading single.

3. Running Out Of Time

More rhythmic speaking, vocal distortion, and rough belts! I love when she screams right before the chorus. Overall, the instruments seem a bit more sparse than what I'm used to, but it works well for this song. At first, I didn't really like it, but as it went on and I understood how everything fit into the song better, I really liked it.

4. C'est Comme Ça

Oh man, the opening chords to this one had me really excited, and the rest of the song delivered! The lyrics are real, and Hayley delivered even MORE of that rhythmic speaking I adore. The chorus is catchy as hell and Hayley's voice just makes the words she's saying feel more genuine. The worst part about the song is that it's only 2 and a half minutes long.

5. Big Man, Little Dignity

First of all, shoutout to Taylor York for that banger opening riff. Second of all, I hate to say it, but when 75% of the chorus consists of the title of the song, it kind of takes me out of the immersion. It's like "okay, that's the song title, I've heard it before, what comes after?" Melodically, harmonically, and rhythmically, the song is beautiful. Lyrically, it falls a little flat in the chorus. Finally, I was NOT expecting that... saxophone? I think? At the very end. I wish it had been there for more than 30 seconds and I wish the ending hadn't dragged on for a full minute after the vocals ended. A coda is necessary, but a whole other section can feel excessive.

6. You First

Again, I love the opening riff. The lyrics feel a little... I don't know how to describe it, but there's something off about them. Not that I could do any better, but Paramore definitely could. However, the music itself is great. I don't have much to say about it, the song overall is kind of mid...

7. Figure 8

Is anyone else kind of pissed that this isn't the 8th track? Anyway, I really like this song, especially the chorus. If there's one thing you've learned about me thus far, it's that I love distorted vocals, so the pre-chorus hits hard as well. The rhythm in the chorus had me confused in a good way, where I couldn't tell if it switched to 2/4 for a bar or if the placement of the downbeat just sounded like it shifted. Regardless, this song reinstated the hope I have for the rest of this album, even though I only have 3 songs left.

8. Liar

This is purely personal opinion, but I tend not to like the slower, more subdued songs. I love FLOWERS for VASES / descansos, though, so maybe it's just that this song isn't very engaging. That's disappointing, because Hayley Williams's solo work has many far more interesting songs that are just as calm. Not to say that this is a bad song; I just don't see myself listening to it that often. I like the lyrics, as they're somewhat relatable for just about anyone who's loved someone more than they love themselves.

9. Crave

Cute opening riff, pretty guitar tone, impactful lyrics. The vocal harmonies and the way everything flows together on "just for a second it all felt simple, I'm already missing you" is really... comforting, for lack of a better word. "I romanticize even the worst of times, when all it took to make me cry was being alive" is one of my favorite lyrics on this entire album. This has the impact I wish Liar had had as well. Great track.

10. Thick Skull

In all honesty... the first minute of this song was a bit of a snoozefest. After the rest of the instruments came in, I was less bored, but still not totally engaged. It took two minutes to really draw me in, when Hayley's powerful belt caught my attention. I love her voice so goddamn much. The tone and melodicism of the guitar solo was also wonderful, and the last chorus when everything came together made me understand what the last three minutes were for.

Overall, I had higher expectations for this album. Like I said in the beginning, I absolutely adore Paramore; they're one of my favorite bands of all time, and I love every one of their albums so much I could never pick a favorite. But... I know this one is my least favorite, at least for now. Even All We Know Is Falling had more passion, more raw emotion in it that I could relate to. Maybe that's because I'm only 17 and can't relate to Hayley Williams's experiences with adulthood, so take everything I'm saying with a grain of salt. If anyone called this a great album, I wouldn't say they were wrong, I just can't say I see it as great.
