Application QnA!
If accepted, would it be possible to be credited with a pen name not associated with ones’ tumblr account/common @ handles upon zine publication? *Wanting to participate with a specific character zine, however, remain unaffiliated with the media/fandom it resides from.
Yes! Once you make it to the zine (If you do) You can aska moderator if it's possible to go by a different pen name! We will gladly help you.
Will there be an overarching theme of the zine that my piece should fit in with?
Nope! We have decided that this year it will NOT have any themes. Perhaps next year!
I have a lot but what I'm most curious about are specifics! Stuff that I would only need to worry about IF accepted. Any specific Morro design? Canvas size? How complicated/how many items would the drawing need?
The zine won't need a specific morro design! It is to celebrate and show love for a character in the fandom, so, fanon designs will be accepted. If you make it, our server will have specifics on what your piece will need regarding the layouts! Lastly, the drawing will have to be a fully rendered piece (No sketches, Lineart, or incomplete pieces) and will need at least a simple background.
Will there be an option to buy a print of the zine? I think that'd be awesome!
The zine will be free and ONLINE ONLY! We will see if next year we are able to make it a physical but for now it is a full on passion prject and experiment.
How would sending the image go? Would I be sending it to you via email?? Do u have a preferred image format (jpeg, png, etc)?
We will have a google Drive folder that will be open for our contributors to drop off their pieces. Also, PNG or PDFs will be the onky ones acceptable!
The zine Tumblr has lost of q&a but is there a specific link to a applicant rule sheet I'm missing & am I correct under the presumption that the zine is free & just for fun of it?
Yes the zine is free and just for people to enjoy, it was also made as a first zine gig for those who have never joined one.
how long do comics tend to be in these kind of zines? As this would be my first zine, I don't really have a point of reference. I can make my pitch work for any length but just wondering what is typical anyway :)
We are allowing people to let their comics be as long as needed. But, usually regular zines will let you do a 3-4 page comic!
For page artists, are we allowed to make multiple pieces? Also would it be possible to make a physical zine in the future? Thank you for this opportunity!
For now we are allowing ONE piece per contributor! And lastly, it might be alot more difficult to make a physical in the future as we might need more moderators, but only time will tell and we shall see!
Thats all for now, thank you so much for your questions! If you have anymore dont be shy to ask away.

tell me more about your Morro in the lmk universe I wanna read
Ahhhh okay okay!! I’m honestly thrilled that people seem to be enjoying this so much, I haven’t really been able to talk to anyone about this haha. All my old Ninjago friends have left, rip.
Under the cut is a good chunk of info on the au—just random tidbits for the most part, though.
• Morro can’t do any delivery work at first due to his stab wound, but later he’s able to!
• Not the greatest when it comes to customer service, so Morro tends to keep to himself when working around Pigsy’s shop.
• For the most part, Morro cleans up the shop and looks after everything.
• Morro 100% calls MK “Red ninja” and “Kai” on more than one occasion. And when he meets Red Son, his brain decides to chime in with “holy shit are these the Red Ninja’s real parents??”
- Morro doesn’t believe in that conspiracy theory but he’s not dismissing it either
• Mei and Morro are matching green streak besties!!
- Mei finds out that Morro is horribly out of touch with modern…well, everything, and takes it upon herself to educate him
- It’s a lot and it’s overwhelming sometimes
• Morro and Tang get along really well! He likes reading through Tang’s journals and books in his free time, as well as listen to Tang’s rants. It’s very informative!
• Morro’s body seems to be determined to always wake up at sunrise no matter what, and he inadvertently wakes up MK too sometimes
• Morro still does Sunrise Exercises—as conflicted as he feels about Wu, he still recognizes that it’s a good way to start off the day. Stretching good!
• Morro can’t cook for shit lol. Pigsy’s trying to teach him, at least.
- The only thing Morro can make really, really well is tea. He lived with Wu for years growing up, this dude absolutely slaps at making an incredible pot(?? Tea terms?) of that hot leaf juice
• I don’t fucking know what kind of weapon to give Morro. At first I considered a broom, but idk, it’s not vibing with me? A staff would fit him really well plus aid his powers, however there’s already like three characters who use staffs and it feels redundant if I give Morro one too. I’ll take suggestions I guess?
- Update from the future: he’s keeping the broom
• When Red Son and Morro first met in s1 episode 1, Morro used his wind powers and was out of sight of Red Son and Red Son whipped around and. They didn’t see Morro at first and let out a startled “Mother?!” because it’s wind and that’s what came to mind and just. Mei and MK will never let Red live that down lmao
• Morro uses makeup to conceal his eye markings! I personally headcanon that if Morro was revived, they’d be more like scar’s around his eyes? Pale and stuff, you know? But when I was making the art, it didn’t look well at all in the LMK style, so I decided to go with the more recognizable green markings after a fucking lot of trial and error, it took me a hot second to find a look that worked holy shit
• Morro and MK are he/they buddies
• MK and Mei’s energy is. A lot sometimes for Morro to handle. But it can also be endearing!
• Oh yeah also Morro does reveal early on that he has wind powers, albeit not intentionally. He’s just cleaning up around the shop and instinctively uses his wind to dust off a table and you know. Draws attention to himself.
• Morro also tells the gang about Ninjago and what it’s like there (from what he can remember, anyways), and explains the whole fucking. “Long before time had a name” bit too. Tang is very invested in all the lore and takes avid notes.
• Morro is extremely cagey about a lot of things, though, particularly pertaining to his past. He steers clear of the topic of family and will mention snippets of his childhood. Sometimes he’ll be talking about something and let slip a detail and then have to awkwardly elaborate on it.
• Eventually Morro will confess that he did some…unsavory things in the past, because he feels bad about it and also feels like he’s deceiving everyone by not telling them. He’s not specific with anything, he’s as vague as he can be, but at least they mention they weren’t exactly the best person before.
• One thing Morro is adamant be kept under wraps is the fact that he died like 2 or 3 times—he does not want anyone knowing about that, and refuses to tell anyone in the group about it. It’s part of the reason why he covers up the marks around his eyes—where he comes from, those are a very recognizable sign of possession/being cursed, so he hides them.
• Morro is a very hard worker, and he also never knows what to do with his free time when he has it.
• Mei and MK are his younger siblings now and Morro is protective (although he’s in denial that he’s protective lmao)
• Ask before touching Morro in any way, they’re very twitchy about being touched without warning
• Morro keeps his old clothes from when he showed up here in a box in MK’s room; he takes the pendant from it and wears it as a necklace, though. (I wanted to give him some flair)
• Once Morro’s gotten more comfortable with everyone, he does eventually elaborate on his childhood/family situation a bit more—from his perspective, at least. I drew a doodle of it a while ago, actually.
Tumblr media
• They refuse to connect the line between themself and Wu out of spite and also because they’ve got. A lot of complicated feelings on Wu.
- So he just has himself hovering under Wu lmao
• Morro can sometimes be vague with details about you know, Lloyd and Wu and all that. He focuses more on personality for some things and facts for others. It’s a touchy topic on occasion.
• Oh boy Morro does not do well on any kind of water-related adventures. He votes himself out of anything involving them.
- Like Morro gets along fine with Sandy! They bond over tea and the therapy cats do wonders for Morro, it’s just that Morro. Refuses to get on any sort of boat and generally avoids water activities as a whole.
• Morro is frankly amazed at how easy it is to acquire food nowadays—like, how readily available it is. You just go into a store and buy food and you don’t even have to prepare it??
• Morro owns a phone but it’s fairly old school and he only uses it for like. Taking pictures, calling, texting, maps…basic phone stuff.
• There’s stuff that happens with Macaque that I’ll get to later because Macaque just so happens to be one of my favorite LMK characters and thus. I am going to involve him with Morro (not in a weird way, I just mean they’re gonna interact)
• I don’t wanna dive into anything Season 3 related only because I know it came out recently
- Cut to me a few seconds ago looking up to find out just how recent Season 3 aired and being smacked in the face with the information it was fucking this year?? I did not. I don’t realize it was so recent. Holy fuck I’m gonna have to hold back on any Season 3 details for a bit (or at least mark them as spoilers) until it’s been more widely seen
• Anyways Morro doesn’t trust Monkey King from the get-go. He’s got past trauma relating to mentors that tell a kid “Oh you’re gonna be great and powerful or whatever” and he’s fucking suspicious
• OH. ALSO. Don’t mention any words like “fate” or “destiny” around Morro because those are trigger words, and by trigger words I mean triggering his fucking intent to kill
- Talks shit about destiny all the time, is very vocal about how he thinks it’s total bs
Uhhh I’m sure I’ve got more of this milling around in my head somewhere but here’s what’s coming to mind atm!! I’ll definitely add more onto this later—and feel free to shoot any questions my way you might have about the au! I’m still figuring it out tbh, haha.

Morro
Ahhh shadow the hedgehog! I mean, Morro. I’ll be honest tho, this guy has some wasted potential both in universe and as a writing standpoint. I love a good edgy parallel main character and he definitely has an interesting backstory and I wish we got more of him. Idk this is an unpopular opinion but s5 isn’t my favourite (although as I say that, I watched the first 3 episodes this morning and really enjoyed it lol) since it’s a little all over the place. But he’s still very interesting so I’ll get into it. (Note after drawing him and over analysing him for like an hour, I like him even more than I did when I started writing this lol)
(Ps: currently as of this post, I have no more suggestions so feel free to spam my inbox bc I like writing essays on legos and also drawing)
Morro is actually an orphan (or abandoned idk) which is big sad, and Wu finds him when he’s pretty young and he looks pretty experienced in foraging bins for trash which suggests he’s been alone for a while. Although it’s interesting he, as an orphan child, decided he specifically wanted to climb that huge ass mountain to find rubbish. Maybe he’s always been ambitious and decided “yep I can climb a mountain” or maybe he caused trouble in a village somewhere and had to run away, and decided the mountain was a safe, quiet bet. Either I love how Wu found a child and was like “yeah I’ll teach it to kill”. I don’t think Wu should’ve been allowed to have a child actually. But I’ve noticed, in Ghost Story, Wu talked about how when the fsm died he said he’d leave a message to find his tomb and Wu never found it. Kinda sounds like Wu has daddy issues. And so this arc is now about generational trauma. I think the fsm, yknow as an escapee of war himself, probably raised Wu and Garmadon quite strictly and Wu probably grew up with a lot of pressure, first as practically a demigod, and second as one who bares the duty of stopping/saving his brother from evil. So what does a man who was raised as a warrior at a young age do when he sees a young child? Try and raise it in the only way he knew how. Wu also having to deal with Garmadon leaving and also getting ghosted by Misako at the same time so I think Morro’s company would’ve been nice. The discovery of Morro’s elemental power is interesting because we know that wind was one of the elements, the fsm hadn’t mastered, so wu may have never even encountered it. Also since a lot of the elemental masters are shown to be fighters, it might mean that the EMs typically take up some sort of fighting job in general. Could that mean Morro’s parents may have died or got lost to combat? Maybe that’s why he had his powers so young. The more you think about it, the more tragic it gets. I think, with how much of a good omen Morro seemed to be, Wu probably expected he was the green ninja. Morro definitely would’ve had some hero complex, he came in, made his master’s life a lot less lonely, he’s gonna save the world and help Wu fix things with his family. And when he’s not that, he ends up doing a lot of unnecessary and concerning things to prove himself. He gets a little loopy (and honestly it would’ve been sick if they leaned into that in the present plot actually). Morro ends up leaving to go find the Fsm’s tomb and mannn you can tell how brutally militant the fsm and Wu’s relationship was when the former literally makes visiting his grave a test of honour for his son (Ik he also was hiding the realm Crystal but yeah). And Morro leaves. Which is such a L, especially for Wu considering Wu’s father left him with barely a hint of where he died, Garmadon left him to train far away, Misako also, like everyone leaves Wu. Maybe that’s why Wu didn’t go after him. Not only did Wu tell Morro about the green ninja but also about the fsm’s tomb which lead him to his death, so yeah it makes sense why Wu would be so secretive. Because not only did the prophecy push Morro over the edge, if Wu never talked about his father Morro may not have died.
Morro has a really cool intro to the series, from the VA change of the night guard, to Lloyd screaming off screen, and then the fight at the monastery in the dark, his aesthetic, pathetic fallacy (cool weather sets the mood) and his theme, it’s very cool. I do wish though, we got more of a visualisation of Lloyd and Morro fighting for control it could even have tied back to Garmadon and his evilisation yknow? Also Morro unfortunately has a redemption at death arc which is generally disappointing. He changes his mind about all his bitterness without really any reasoning. Wu doesn’t do anything in the season really until at the very last moment, and it just comes out of nowhere. Like s5 is not on my rewrite list but if I could change anything, one of those things would be giving Morro internal conflict. Make Morro feel Lloyd’s love for his family, make Morro briefly doubt what he’s doing and miss Wu. And mannn I wish Wu played more of a role in this season, in regards to Morro. Like Wu never got to see his own father’s tomb.
I get it though, there’s a lot happening with wu already since he’s trying Nya. I do like how he’s reluctant to tell Nya about her powers especially in the season where the villain is a villain because Wu said too much. Morro and Nya also have a few parallels, both are unable to handle failure and struggle to adapt when their life changes. It’s cool because we get to see Nya succeed where Morro didn’t (and that’s why she’s allowed to wear green). I think honestly this season should’ve had more Kai development considering Kai and Morro basically have the same plot, and it would’ve really wrapped up the staff scene in s4. Like maybe with Kai telling Morro of how he avoided being like him, how Kai chose to protect others instead of trying to earn a title that he didn’t need. Maybe that would have then played into Morro’s redemption later on.
Also how come Morro got sent the cursed realm? Well I have a theory but this is basically Ninjago speed run angst percentage. So to go to the cursed realm ya got to get cursed. So what if Morro managed to curse himself? Like his swore he’d find the tomb or else he’d go to the cursed realm and him making a verbal oath actually held weight because spooky superstition. Maybe he dabbled in dark magic to help him on his quest. Idk I just think it’s poetic that Morro’s downfall is himself. Although I wish I knew why he ended up being the preeminent’s lackey. Hmm here’s a suggestion, the preeminent, in true eldritch horror fashion, is like a goddess, like the compelling call of destiny, that has dubbed Morro as her own “chosen one”, which is why he has the highest status of all the ghosts. I just need the preeminent to be creepy.
All in all I think Morro has a really good set up I just wish we got more of a learning arc for him, just to back up his redemption. Villains like the overlord, or the Oni don’t need character development because they only need to be strong, and villains like Chen and Nadakhan don’t need development because they can just be incredibly smart from the get go. But villains that have shifting moralities need to get justification on why that is the case and with Morro and Harumi, imo I think Ninjago drops the ball, and their final moments of not being awful feel very rushed. Also I love Morro aesthetic and think he should be even more insane actually, have him be weirdly connected to the preeminent and also have him be almost delusional in his quest for power because it would be spicy. But in general, Morro is super interesting and that’s why I think fanon is more popular, because people like to lean in and see if they can push Morro where the writers didn’t (although it’s more likely fanon Morro is just popular because he’s emo). Also a note about DotD, I actually love that special mostly for the villain interactions because it’s just gorgeous. Now that Morro is over his intensely huge drama Queen arc, when placed next to the other he’s kinda chill and love the fact when he shows up he scares the life out of the other ninja, but he’s actually pretty civil and other than he can’t help himself from acting villainous. But he has a sense of honour and yknow he probably would’ve made for a great ninja.
Here’s a random hc to close this off, Morro actually loved pirates and would’ve had the time of his life if he was around for s6.
But that’s it for now! Morro good.

ASK GAME
Luh-Loyd's cousin was the Fuchsia Ninja!
His favorite (only) cousin was the Fuchsia Ninja!
And he wasn't the only one!
So much made much more sense now.
But then, because his cousin could never do what he would expect, instead of explaining anything, or even giving Lloyd a, 'Nice job!' in congratulations for solving that mystery, Morro instead turned his head into the forest.
"LLOYD GOT IT FIRST!" he bellowed. "PAY UP, LOSERS!"
There were a pair of loud groans, and Lloyd wheeled around to see two more figures suddenly step out of hiding places, somehow completely hidden despite the identical vivid pink gis they wore.
"Aw man," groaned a voice Luh-Loyd recognized as his world's Karlof's out of one of the gis as he walked over to hand Morro money. "I was sure it would be Zane who find out. He is smart one, yes."
"My money was on Nya," grumbled the other in what was unmistakably Tox's voice. She turned and glared at Lloyd from beneath her mask, clearly blaming him for her loss even as she handed it over to Morro. "Thanks a lot, kid."
Lloyd could only stare back at her in bewilderment. "Tox?" he asked. "Uh, is that really you under there?"
Morro groaned at the question. "Oh, come on, Shrimp, don't go doubting yourself now."
Lloyd grew flustered. "Uh, yeah, but… last I checked, Tox wasn't as, uh, barrel-chested as Karlof was, nor are you for that matter," he said, gesturing at the three pink ninja who all seemed to have the same body type despite Lloyd knowing full well that they didn't. Karlof was definitely a big guy, but Tox was always tall and slim, and Morro was more svelte than him as well.
Understanding his confusion, Morro threw back his head and laughed. "Body armor and some padding," he explained, knocking his fist against his own 'barrel chest' and drawing a muffled thump from it. "Our little tricks won't work if people can tell us apart."
Tox nodded, pulling off her own mask, which looked odd over her differently proportioned body. "And I've got the most armor out of all of them to match," she explained.
"Wouldn't that make it harder to move?" asked Lloyd in concern.
"Some, but I'm used to it," Tox admitted. Then she smirked and summoned a small poison cloud around her hands. "Besides, I can more than make up for it. A few whiffs breathable toxins to slow opponents down, and suddenly they're having a hard time moving too."
"And I don't need armor," said Karlof cheerfully, pulling off his mask and turning himself metal. "I have it already."
Morro rolled his eyes at his friends' antics. "Lucky for us we're all about the same height," he said. "Or at least close enough people don't really notice. That'd be way more of a pain to cover up."
Lloyd grimaced at the thought of having to fight crime in heels. "How did you even get here?" he asked instead.
Morro snickered. "I never left after coming over with Wu. Then your friends saw my 'grand entrance' onto the ferry getting here."
"The rest of us stowed away on Garmadon's Shark Mech along with you guys," said Tox with a grimace.
"Wait? What? But we were right there!" asked Lloyd in surprise.
"Was a tight fit," Karlof agreed, rubbing his back. "Lucky for us Lord Garmadon was planning his ominous music playlist on the trip over, so none of you heard us when Griffin stepped on Paleman's toe."
Oh gosh there was so much build-up to this reveal.
It started as a joke between me and my Beta reader, Kay Hau, while late in writing The Grass is Always Greener and I already knew I wanted to write more in a series. I mentioned as a crack-fic idea that, "Hey, what if Movie Morro was the Fuchsia Ninja, that would be funny." But she was like, "No, actually, that sounds like a good idea. What if Movie Morro WAS the Fuchsia Ninja? What would that be like?" And then I actually started thing about it, and the more I did, the more I liked the idea.
I'd really wanted a bad guy from the show world to be a good guy in the movie world. Morro fit the bill best because he had the most opportunity due to the lack of Green Ninja prophecy and the inevitable drama that would come from it when evil Show Morro showed up would be great. Plus the drama that came from M!Morro and Sensei Wu interacting. Also, giving Luh-Loyd a little more support from a cool older cousin was appealing to me.
So, Morro as the Fuchsia Ninja, how would that work? How would he convince people his element was 'Surprise' instead of just Wind?
Well, what's another thing that would make him different from S!Morro? Oh, I know, him having actual friends! Him leading his own team! There's a bunch of Elemental Masters to pick from. Who should be on it?
Well, I was watching the Hunted season at the time, so that answered that question easy. The Resistance. All the EMs aside from Skylor in the Resistance could be his friend group. They've shown themselves they're friends with the Ninja. They all have cool powers and mostly distinct enough personalities that I could work off of, but not distinct enough that I couldn't build off them to make them their own characters in the movieverse.
Then the idea of all of them being the Fuchsia Ninja and how they would do that came from talking with my Beta Reader and watching Gaijin Goombah's 'Which Ninja' on youtube. Gaijin Goombah often talks about real ninja techniques in his videos and a lot of the Fuchsia Squad's moves came from them. I thought it'd be cool if that team of ninja operated more like traditional ninja rather than more mech fights. Especially with the use of the technique of them all dressing the same to trick people into thinking they can teleport and adding to the 'Surprise'. Only one of them can be seen at a time, and they can use Neuro's powers to coordinate.
Okay, so I know who the Fuchia Ninja is and what they do, and how. If that's the case, WHY do the Ninja Force not know all this? And when do they find out?
I think it was Kay Hau who suggested it wait for the Tournament of Elements. That way the Fuchsia Ninja could take part in the tournament showing off how 'Surprising' they could be and be fresh in people's minds when S!Morro makes his grand entrance.
As for why, welp, the funniest thing I could think of is they made a bet. Wouldn't it be funny if instead of congratulating Luh-Loyd on figuring it out (because I've always wanted Luh-Loyd to be the one to work it out first, since he's closest to Morro) he instead looks at the others and goes, "Pay up."
And that's how I worked up to this scene. I'd seriously been looking forward to it since The Grass is Always Greener, and it was very fun sprinkling in hints where I could and so satisfying to finally get it in writing.

hey hey tell me more about Hideaki!! I wanna know more about him!!
also if you could give me a color pallet for him that would be perfect
OH MY GOD IT’S MY BLORBO'S TIME TO SHINE!!! This man has been living in my head rent free ALL MONTH so I think he needs a necessary introduction.
(You're lucky I made a little concept ref sheet for Hideaki. His hair is HORRIBLE to draw.)
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
ANYWAYS, his shitty tragic ass life story is under the cut. The blorbo needs his moments <3333
Tw for someone killing a baby brutally, beheading, some violence
Okay so first of all, he's HELLA old in ninjago history. He was a member of the VERY FIRST Elemental Alliance, which included Morro I. His Element was the long-lost and extinct Element of Seasons. This and the Element of Weather were originally from the Great Devourer, offered to humans who managed to evade its venom. Hideaki was a very lucky guy because of his encounter, to the point he was regaled as some kind of hero. Season is a hard Element to make sense or understand about, that even Hideaki doesn't know how he can fully control it. So, the least complicated version of the semantics of Season is that it can summon a season willingly in a controlled area. Although that takes a LOT of work and needs True Potential, so Hideaki taps into the traits of the Core Elements and correlates it to the season he wants to summon.
He awakened his powers at a very young age, and just at 14 he awakened his True Potential in a very fantastical way. FSM noticed his power and notified his parents (and a confused Hideaki) he was an Elemental Master and would like for him to join his alliance. His parents and siblings were quite protective of Hideaki, and were a bit tense and suspicious of a man who just appeared out of nowhere to recruit their son to what seems like a gang. Hideaki, very excited to meet new friends, insisted on going with FSM to travel the world. Right speaking of which, his relationship with his family is VERY good, he has three siblings as well so it's a big family. They are very close, too close to the point he feels as if he's too codependent on them. That's why he chose to go with FSM, so he can learn to handle himself.
As a person, he's a very fun, bubbly, and optimistic person, however he's VERY naïve when it comes to meeting new people. He sees everything, initially, in a black and white worldview, He always obeys the FSM's rules out of sheer idol worship and wanting to be useful, seeing everything in black and white. But despite his bubbliness he's very bad at socializing, often getting distracted with insects, running off to come pet them and getting lost because of a bad sense of direction. Most Elemental Masters have to go looking for him, often being annoyed by how ditzy and clueless he is. It doesn’t help they're older than him by a few years and he was only 14 when he joined. He's also pretty bad at socializing, because whatever he says can be taken in a VERY wrong out of context way.
He barely has any friends (because, you know, he has a big age gap with the others) and the others really didn't want to connect with a little kid, unlike FSM, who's very fond of him. He wishes he has a better childhood than what he had. But, his only friend in the entire Elemental Alliance was the first Elemental Master of Wind, Morro I. They were the only person in the entire world who can match his rambunctious and wilder side, but unfortunately Hideaki is the one who has to keep them in check. They always make reckless or intellectually impulsive decisions where he often forgets he is currently with a buddy, and Hideaki bears the brunt of their decisions. He tries to dissuade Morro I from his many, many awful decisions, but to his dismay he continues to not listen to him. However, he continues to stay with him, simply because he was the only person who can tolerate and understand his giddiness and personality.
Hideaki can summon seasons, and his appearance is also changed depending on which season he uses, or what his current mood is. Because he is usually seen as a happy, smiling young man, his hair, which is pink since birth, his hair is vibrant and very soft-looking, like spring is always like. In the picture above his 'spring colors' is the first picture. With the pink highlights. He is barely in a 'winter mode' simply because he believes his sadness is not quite important to the mission.
As an able Elemental Master, Hideaki was very good at listening to FSM's orders and also his superiors. The only thing he is flawed with is his ability to be distracted. If Morro I is good at evading and being as fast as the wind, Hideaki, is gifted in heavy lifting, though he has more limits unlike the Master of Earth. He can try and drag a grundle back into unclaimed lands using a rope or chains, one of his prime weaponry. Because his Element can somewhat be four separate elements entirely, he uses different kinds of weapons to mediate his power. Since he uses spring a lot he uses a longbow regularly, having perfect aim. He has decently strong control over summer, using a kusarigama, a decent but weaker control over autumn, in which he uses a kama, and he has a very, VERY weak link for winter, simply because his personality contrasts with what winter is usually seen as.
Anyways, when Morro I was arrested for the crime of being so obsessed with FSM, Hideaki was so hurt by the way he showed his true colors. He tried to fish out another response or confession from Morro I, but what he heard from them was heartbreaking: the person he cared about the most... Didn't give too shits about him. He didn't watch Morro I's exile, and he felt embarrassed over the fact he had a crush on them. Since the only person he has gotten along with was gone, he was alienated even further from the Alliance. So he does solo missions, aware the other Elemental Masters don't want to give him the time of day. FSM tries to convince him to socialize, but he really doesn't know how to socialize, only putting on a front that he was still nice and approachable.
When he was 16, a few months after Morro I was exiled, he was patrolling the areas near a rather large forest filled with dangerous plants and animals, a portal above him opens, and, alarmed, he jumps out the way soon as a dark figure falls, and into the ravine near Hideaki. While he was still addled and a little shocked about the portal hanging above him, he calls out to the new stranger if they were okay. The responder sounded feminine, and, after telling them to hold still as he tries to rescue them, something leaps out from the ravine and catches him in a tackle. When he meets with their eyes, it was like love at first sight.
Apparently, the creature in front of him was an Oni, a predecessor of the First Spinjitzu Master and was tasked to bring him back, dead or alive, for their cause in the First Realm. Her name was Kokoro, and she was mainly forced to follow in her parents' footsteps by the Omega or she will be killed. She knows that her being taken here was just a banishment in disguise, but she didn't seem to care. Her Realm was devastated after the incessant fighting of the Oni and Dragon, and seeing Ninjago, she didn't WANT to find the FSM and kill him for it. Sympathizing with her, Hideaki shares a few bits of his life, and the two of them hit it off, something in them clicking when they first laid eyes on each other. Kokoro started to live with Hideaki in his family home. While his family were, at first, a little wary over an Oni staying in their home, immediately warmed up to her.
After a year of knowing each other, their feelings for the other didn't seem to fade away or become platonic. Instead, it grew stronger every time they spend time with one another. They confessed to one another during a private night, and well, they're both teenagers and let the hormones win, so... Hideaki finds out that Kokoro is about to have a kid he's a little tense, panicking even. He's NEVER had one of his dumb, teenage-driven decisions backfire SO horribly in his face before, being the first time he's ever done anything out of impulse. But in the end, while he did receive some scolding from his parents that became a really, REALLY big misunderstanding (Hideaki thought they believed Kokoro was a horrible influence on him, they just want to help), he and Kokoro ended up running away from home. He still had contact with the Elemental Masters, but he omits any details of his Oni wife because he fears their prosecution.
Some background over this hesitant omission: when FSM left, the dragons did send their best warriors to find him, but when he expressed he didn't want to return to the First Realm, the dragons had no choice but to respect his choices. However, the Oni warriors, especially the embodiments of Vengeance, Anger and Deception were very keen on taking him back to win a war they caused. Why do you think the Elemental Alliance was formed? Not only to defend Ninjago's citizens from attacks of primordial creatures, but also from the Oni. They try their damndest to drive out the Oni, and while they are successful, somewhat, some decided to stay, such as Mystake, but only the FSM knows. Kokoro is a stronger type of Oni, since she's one of the daughters of the Oni of Anger. It's why she regularly has some angry outbursts that only Hideaki can calm down. She gets carried away when she gets WAY too angry. But she doesn't hurt anyone, she just has a big impact in her surroundings. Kokoro is the one that carved the mask of anger after fighting her father with Hideaki when they, by coincidence, found him in a secluded and unknown part in Ninjago. It was a metal ass fight.
Anyways, when he is not doing his Elemental Master work, he usually does house chores, making accomodations for Kokoro, or being a generally nice and pleasant person to be around with. He helps a lot of folk near his area with their lives, helping them settle, babysit, whatever. He's regarded as that towns handyman since he always seems to know what to do. Hideaki didn't know that, even when he tried to keep Kokoro a secret, only referring to her by name or his wife, some of his contemporaries got way too suspicious. He always evades the idea of visiting her, he's never shown them any kind of significant material that belongs to his wife, to the point they just think he's making up excuses to escape his work. So they followed him home, and not only did they find out Hideaki’s wife, they also found out she was Oni and like... idk they're beefing with a guy who just turned 18.
So they put the worst assumptions they had on Hideaki and his wife, and immediately tattled on him towards the FSM. Okay, so we are getting on neutral ground with him. I think the FSM is a very interesting figure. He is good, but sometimes he can get a little suspicious of people. He has trust issues after being used and abused by the Oni and Dragon for so many years. When the Elemental Masters forwarded what they assumed Hideaki was doing, well. He didn’t want to believe it at first. The Elemental masters mean well, probably (if having a grudge on a kid means well idk), but they said things blown out of proportion, way too based on assumptions and delusions for it to work. FSM denies their assumptions, but decided the only way to discover if it was true or no was to confront Hideaki. Following him to his home (since Hideaki couldn't say no to him) he, some Elemental Masters who insist on accompanying FSM, engage in a tense dinnertime with Kokoro, who just gave birth (Hideaki still couldn't find the time to hold his new kid in his arms too). FSM purposefully cuts himself (Oni and Dragon alike are very interested in his blood), and Kokoro reacts accordingly, her mind hazy, going out of control as she turns to a full Oni.
that's when FSM admonishes Hideaki for his secrecy. He lets the other Elemental Masters restrain Kokoro, and FSM gives Hideaki a chance to explain himself, to debunk what his comrades tell the FSM. He was always a firm believer of someone admitting their lies and their sins face-to-face... However Hideaki DOES NOT work well under pressure, nor when his baby and wife is currently being held hostage so his thoughts, his confessions and everything he says is incomprehensible garbage. He even made a few mentions of the Oni of Anger and how they destroyed him without the FSM knowing, to which FSM'S trust for Hideaki breaks more. Initially, despite the offenses and panicked testimony, FSM was going to let Hideaki free, except he is exiled from the Elemental Alliance.
The thing is, Hideaki prioritizes his family first. Before FSM can reassure him he is not mad, the Master of Fire... Killed Hideaki's baby. Not an accident, he literally burnt the baby alive until it was reduced to nothing but literal ashes. It was as if something unlocked inside Hideaki; with an enraged growl he breaks free, attempting to maul the Master of Fire like a bear. Even Kokoro was enraged over what they'd done to her child, impaling the first Elemental Master of Nature, letting him die as she tries to scramble to pick up the child's remains and kill the master of fire. The master of fire INSISTS he hadn't done that, that something was controlling him, brainwashing him into fucking killing a baby. I wonder who it was. Anyways things got ugly immediately, Kokoro got murdered by a happenstance of circumstances, that not even Hideaki or FSM could explain it in detail. In the end, FSM cursed Hideaki after murdering the master of fire and earth, thinking that the Preeminent was simply collecting souls not to feel lonely (because he’s still quite naive, despite seeing Preeminent’s true form. he GENUINELY thought she wanted a companion and assigned her Hideaki).
The Elemental Master of Lightning beheads Hideaki out of grief, and when Hideaki opens his eyes to the new afterlife awaiting him. Everything was... a dystopia. A ruin of every ruin. Desolation and destruction that predates anything he knows about Ninjago. And at the center of it all, lies the Preeminent, who has her wish come true. A new companion... but he wasn’t willing, and she treats him more as a pet than anything else. Against his will, since he IS the first inhabitant of the Cursed Realm, he is married to the Preeminent, but no matter how much force and situated affection she has for him, in his heart there only lies one girl. Kokoro, whom he was very, VERY far away from.
At first, he still held hope. Hope that he will see Kokoro again, to hold their child, but the days turned to weeks, months, and then years. The Preeminent had enforced him with all kinds of orders and laws, to the point that his happy, humane and optimistic side started to fade away, leaving only the ugliest parts of him; his lack of social awareness, his awkwardness, his intense insecurity. The years in the Cursed Realm turned him to the very thing he hated the most: something he considers a bad person. These negative attributes of his personality was also paired up with an increasing amount of apathy and indifference (he started accepting that every soul that came here was forsaken and deserved to be punished like him), and cruelty and idleness he shows to his new subordinates. He thinks he can wither like this forever, to act as if nothing exists, as if he doesn’t exist, as if his only dream in this afterlife was to be tortured and held captive by the Preeminent forever.
But someone stopped him from spiralling in those horrid thoughts, as late as he can be. Five thousand years since he came to this realm and was stripped of the humanity he had, a Cursed soul younger than him showed up. 17 years old, clearly having been deceived by the Preeminent as Hideaki observes him from the Head of the Cursed Realm, as he fights off many, many ghosts, winning glory and the authority of everyone in the Dystopian Ribcage. Called the champion, this man was. He interested Hideaki a lot, but he refuses to think or talk about him. He may ascend the Head soon, so what could he possibly say to him? That is, until the Preeminent told him not only was he the Elemental Master of Wind, but he is named after his old friend, Morro I. Immediately the most interested he has been since he was exiled to this Realm, he seeks the young ghost out to obtain information from him, whatever it is. He didn't know what information he wants from him, but it was enough to make this already static afterlife feel... A little more entertaining.
And it did. Hideaki properly gets the chance to meet Morro after one of his combats. Morro had just finished one of his more iconic fights (him against Arcturus, the Anacondrai general), and seen than a particular silhouette he has not ever come across the amphitheater was watching him, he immediately books it. However, Arcturus was feeling a little petty over losing a fight against a teenager that he corners him and almost beats him up if Hideaki didn't intervene. Sending the Anacondrai on their way, he gets a one on one with Morro. The young man wanted to talk to Morro, but he was sent away by a large wind, so he decided to volunteer to host Morro's visit towards the Cursed Realm palace, that's when they started talking. While at first, since Morro was jaded by human interaction and suspicious over anything that tries to interact with him. Hideaki was no exception; he treated him quite callously and occasionally misinterprets his body language and stand offishness as him thinking he is above all of them. Morro has a strong hatred over the Cursed Realm's elite society living in her head (which Hideaki is a part of) because they're living good afterlives in her head.
However, after a few more years of some forced spending time together (the Preeminent wanted her husband and her champion to have a better relationship for publicity), Morro started to understand how and why Hideaki is the way he is. Sooner and later, he developed an understanding and more intimate relationship with Hideaki. It’s not romantic, but it is definitely more platonic than what was intended by the both of them. Not getting into it but it’s like friends-with-benefits type of relationship, except they do have a particularly strong bond. However Morro doesn’t really like him in a romantic way (he’s not that romantically attracted to anyone at all), while Hideaki simply hasn’t moved on from his first wife. They’re not affectionate with each other, but everyone who sees them interact and share relationships know that they are quite close to each other. They occassionally talk, had multiple rendezvous that leaves the Preeminent seething, knowing how one another would feel and act given the type of situation, and even leaves others debating and fighting over what their label were.
Hideaki dislikes the fact that Morro cares too much about a title he never got in his life, and wants him to let go of that ambition. However Morro doesn’t like the fact that he acts as if he doesn’t care about his life anymore. He tries riling Hideaki up with the promises of destroying Cloud Kingdom for separating him from his family. He has no interest with the Preeminent’s ambitions of taking over all the sixteen Realms but makes no plans stopping them, having given up the ability to care about the morality of the situation. However, once he asks Morro if he was still willing to possess the Green Ninja to find the Realm Crystal, he did not expect Morro expressing vengeance and the desire to plunge the world into misery. Despite his hesitance and dislike of having to exert too much of his energy into something that will most likely fail, he was fond of Morro. He didn’t want him to die because of his naive foolishness, and so, decides to help him.
This of course blows up on everyone's faces, as Morro loses against a bunch of teenagers with facemasks, and Hideaki was being smug towards both Preeminent and Morro about how this was a HORRIBLE idea and he knew it. Despite all of this, he feels nothing but acceptance over his fate, and believes he accepts getting scorched to death by water. He does, however, become tense at the thought of his loved ones being judgemental and not loving him any longer simply because he is different and not the man Kokoro married. Idk what to do with this story plot point but he does reunite with his family, don't know how to do it while making it emotional. He also plays widely into this kind of fanseason but also AU thing of mine in which Morro gets an on screen redemption arc. Anyways yeah that's it for his story, it was bound to have a happy ending for him since he deserves it.
Anyways some trivia time tee hee:
Here's a more detailed reference picture of Hideaki I drew out of funnies if you want more color palette references. He ALWAYS wears his training gi, if he is not he wears traditional kimono. I don't have any color palette for his Cursed Realm design but here's a basic sketch of it. He's obsessed with the idea of wearing tons of armor because it's a sign you can protect people you love.
Initially his character would be a little more of an asshole than his final ones, I had his character already set up in early July during the time of making TAGOMJTR (my Morro redemption fic) and waited for a time to implement him in the story. He was supposed to be Morro’s 'only friend' who betrayed him to go to the Head of the Preeminent and left his ass, which made him grow bitter. I actually had to scrap a moment in TAGOMJTR and Morrotober because that little blurb doesn't fit what I have for Hideaki anymore.
Although I had an impulsive thought about turning Hideaki into a genuine, good friend for Morro because he needs some rest between all things, so here we are! I fluctuated back and forth over his actual personality because him being unhinged or snarky and flippant isn't really how I envision him. Besides I need him to contrast Morro- Morro caring too much about life while Hideaki doesn't really give a damn anymore. That's why he's a lot more stoic and apathetic than usual, but it's clear he has a better moral compass and standing than Morro has.
The way I thought of their character is a lot more 'wow what if Morro got fucked over by a ghost in the Cursed Realm' then it turned to 'wow what if an Elemental Master was also condemned' and Hideaki was made. He's mainly based off cold characters who became the way they are because of traumatic events. I think Morro deserves a companion that tries to talk him out of many things rather than someone who betrays him and destroy the last of his kindness.
He's also actually a Demon Slayer oc with the same element at his disposal (breath of Seasons) but they're WILDLY different characters at this point with varied accomplishments. They also have different appearance.

Ninjago bodyguard au.
sick days Headcanons!
Tumblr media
Being a gatekeep girl boss is a lot of work, but the Quiet One's title doesn't stay very long when it comes to her being ill.
• When Harumi had gotten sick, Garmadon insisted for her to take rest because the constant sneezing and coughing disturbed "his work." Harumi complied with ease but let out an amount of various and colorful words when she was sent back to her "room".
• Morro hasn't gotten sick since Wu was still his sensei... That was YEARSSS ago. So this means that he doesn't know much on how to take care of things, ask Lloyd, he knows.
• At first he was telling Harumi to suck it up. However, when Harumi let him take possession. Morro immediately ran back to the couch, suddenly feeling groggy and cold.
• Harumi was still sleeping on the couch which gave Morro extra time. Afraid she was going to die somehow, Morro ran to make some chicken soup in the lounge area of the hotel. Garmadon said they were going to move camp towards Borg Tower soon and Morro needed her in tip top shape in order for the plan to work.
• Let's say Morro can't cook.
• He's been practicing possessing smaller items which gave him the ability to become physical for a matter of time and strength.
•He still can't cook though.
• As soon as Morro "successfully" made the soup, he ran over towards the couch where Harumi was sleeping.
• When I say he has the ability to be physical for a matter of time, I mean a very thin amount. In other words, he became ghostly and dropped the soup on Harumi. They didn't talk to each other for the rest of the day.
• When Harumi is sick, Morro likes to take possession sometimes to give her some rest. When Harumi woke up from her nap, she found a ridiculous amount of paper with very bad drawings. Hey! Man's gotta entertain himself somehow.
• Usually Harumi likes to make herself some hot chocolate to keep her calm during these hard times. Unfortunately, that peace turned into another argument when Morro kept fighting for a taste of her hot chocolate.
• Another time Harumi let Morro take control while she was sick. She woke up to find herself sleeping on the second floor, in a room, watching the "Back To The Future" franchises, and spilled popcorn everywhere.
• "Morroooooooo, can you please hand me a tissue?"
"Only if you admit that my drawings weren't bad".
"GO TO HELL MORRO".
"To bad, I already did".
"GOD DAMN IT!"
"Princess? Why are you yelling-"
"SHUT IT ULTRA".
In other words, Harumi gets more pissed than what she already is.

The end of the green ninja
Chapter 6 Ritual
“What do you mean he’s going to turn himself into an Oni?!” Jay shouted watching Garmadon bring the giant towards the gap to jump on its shoulder “Why do you suddenly care? You almost tried killing him right now.” Kai raised a brow not trusting him, Harumi agreeing with what Kai said “Because I didn’t realize the real weight of the situation I kept trying to brush it off and now it’s lead up to this.” Morro ran up to the giant to join Garmadon “Come on we’re wasting time standing here talking about it!” After that the ninja jumped on and the giant grabbed Harumi before making its way towards Lloyd “Why are you dragging me along? I don’t care what happens to him.” She protested “You helped causing this so you’ll help stopping this whether you want to or not.” Garmadon responded but she wasn’t going to stop there and called him out for going soft “Perhaps I have.” Was the only thing he said in return “Do you think he’s starting to turn back to normal?” Cole whispered to the others all glancing over at Garmadon who returned the glancing, he heard the question “No matter how hard I try my emotions always seem to get the better of me and I change my ways, I guess it’s time for that cycle to begin anew.”
They arrived at the ruin both Garmadon and Morro were already running off the others catching up behind them “Geez we’re just going on with these sudden changes aren’t we?” Jay pointed out the two changes between the two “Like father like son I guess.” Nya shrugged then bumped into Cole as they stopped running “Don’t tell me we’re lost.” Jay whined then got shushed by Morro and a faint sobs can be heard before following the sound arriving to Lloyd whom was on his knees covering his face with his hands when hearing their footsteps he looked up “Guys?” He tried wiping away his tears and the others but Harumi and Garmadon looked relieved all going up to hug him as he apologized for what he done then Garmadon approached him making Lloyd draw back the others gave the two some space he knelt down to his son holding out a hand “Don’t fret I’ve...decided to change my ways. Changing for the best.” He held out his arms and Lloyd went in for the hug the ninjas smiled but the moment didn’t last. Blood could be seen dripping from Garmadon’s back.
Lloyd had stabbed Garmadon in the back with a dagger he was hiding “And I’ve decided to change for the worst.” He twisted the blade causing Garmadon to groan in pain then shoved him away once removing the blade “I do have to thank you for being considerate on coming over here.” He took out ripped pages from the book containing the incantation he needed “I needed Oni blood to get through with this.” He was going towards a stand where he was to deposit the blood only to get tackled by Morro making him drop the blade and pages “I am not letting you turn yourself into an Oni!” He gripped onto his waist as Lloyd dragged himself to retrieve it he wanted to stab Morro to get him off but doing so would stain the blood instead he elbowed him off “Get the blade!” Kai called out and like that they threw themselves at Lloyd to take the dagger away from him while he tried keeping it safe “This is starting to become annoying.” He mumbled, he needed something to weaken them but the only thing was those sudden bursts of energy when he snapped and how could he make himself snap in this situation? That’s how.
His gaze landed on Harumi as she helped Garmadon. He remembered when he first saved her and how they gotten along before it all came crashing down how she revived his father after he finally was able to move on just to cause more pain and suffering, not to mention that his father now has changed right when he himself has done the same. Did he only accept the need to become a better person because it involved him? That always was the case. Always when it involved him. But sometimes the change never felt permanent. Was he just doing this just to put him back into stability? Just so he can destroy any possibility of fighting his own son? Just to catch him off guard to kill him? The changes sometimes never felt genuine, only for a reason that felt like it would benefit him. Here it is, another snap. With that he blasted everyone away rendering them immobile as he approached the stand mumbling an incantation having Garmadon’s blood drop into one deposit and giving himself a small cut to add his blood from there he waited but nothing happened.
“Lloyd look out!” Morro warned but it was too late Harumi got close enough to hit Lloyd at the back of his head with a stone she broken off from the ruin temple and he hit the floor knocked out “Harumi enough!” Garmadon yelled to prevent her from doing anything else to him going over to pick up his unconscious son “Looks like the incantation didn’t work.” Nya sighed and with that they left dragging along Harumi by having Zane carry her. They returned to the temple where Ronin was getting his wounds treated by Pixel, Dareth was also there since he tried joining the fight but instead almost got attacked “Whoa whoa whoa. Why are they here?” Dareth pointed at the two hiding behind Ronin “I’m not a threat but she might still be.” Garmadon held onto Harumi to keep her from running off while also carrying Lloyd “What happened to him?” Misako went up placing a hand on Lloyd’s head where the ninja explained what happened. Lloyd was left in the separate small room(they also restrained him so if he woke up he wouldn’t run off or use his powers) to recover having Dareth look after him “It is nice to have you back, brother.” Wu patted Garmadon’s back then they looked over at Harumi whom was tied up to a chair “Just because you’ve stepped down doesn’t mean I will. I’ll rule instead or I can get your son to join me.” She hissed then in came Dareth running in panting looking pale and with wide eyes “Guys somethings wrong with Lloyd!”

Continuation of this post because, yeah it just got too long I couldn't handle it anymore
@sea-jello
Tumblr media
Hmmm thinking about how long it would take them to travel all across ninjago (I think it's safe to assume to weapons are spread out as far away from each other as possible but idk) and I'm not sure it would take months (although, that does depend on about how many months you mean exactly), but also they *are* traveling by foot (and pulling Wu's cart 💀) most of the time so maybe, idk I'm probably not the best judge of distance and traveling time so. Plus it would be very easy to come up with reasons for them to be delayed either way, so whatever you think would be best. But probably at least a month. (And yeah a longer time would definitely explain Kai's desperation). Also yess the more Morro gets his hopes up the better >:3
Tumblr media
NOT FOR SAVING HIM NO shdhd I meant like he gets mad at Kai for implying/revealing Lloyd as the green ninja (if Kai's still the first one to come to the realization in this) cuz at this point Morro's still hoping to prove himself worthy to be the green ninja, so maybe in his devastation and desperation he lashes out kind of a thing?
Tumblr media
Hmm yeah, maybe today I'll go glance over the episodes and see if there's a good spot that stands out. And yeah 😔 BUT imagine the angst of the other ninja running into younger Morro after everything that's happened
Tumblr media
OH YOUR RIGHT hmm idk what reason wu would have for not telling them sooner? Or doing something about Kai and Nya being left to take care of themselves? Idk it'd depend on how much he knows about the kids' situation but either way whatever his reasoning he probably thought is was for the best 🥲 but STILL THE ANGST AUGHHH
Tumblr media
YESS EXACTLY
AUGHHH Zane's death being more incentive for him to stay away my heart 😭 (I love it)
Tumblr media
YESSSSSS ALL OF THIS YES
I feel like Morro would be angered by how like, settled Lloyd had become in the position of green ninja at that point. And like it's just building until the fight happens.
Tumblr media
EXACTLY SGDHD Morro barely restrains himself from flying right back up there to beat him up properly
Tumblr media
SGDHFJFJ YEAH OKAY FAIR ILL WRITE IF YOU DRAW DEAL? WE CAN FUEL EACH OTHER
Tumblr media
YEAH YEAH YEAH
Tumblr media
Yeah that's fair. Morro bud you're self-destructive tendencies are showing 😭
Hmmm I almost feel like we'd need him to show up as a villain at some point if only so he can get a spot in the hall of villains and feasibly come back during dotd (that is if he dies at the end of s5). And also for fun angst and drama. But also I feel like he'd be less likely to become a villain in this? (unless it was just to be a menace to the ninja) cuz like in this he actually got the chance to learn what it meant to be a hero? So he wouldn't be as likely to put innocents in harms way? Hmmm
Oooo what if he's only pretending to be a villain? Like maybe he's set out to take down as many bad guys as possible (because he still wants to help people but also maybe he's still trying to prove himself worthy of the green gi as well) but he goes about that by pretending to be one so he can get in close with higher end dudes and take them out. But literally NOBODY knows this (the ninja may have their doubts) so everyone thinks hes a legit villain and even when he takes out a group or something everyone just assumes it's for villainous reasons and not that he's targeting them. Also he 'hates' the ninja and has no qualms about attacking them most of the time so he really sells it.
Tumblr media
YEP YEP YEPP
Oop I hit the image limit but YAYY WE'RE GETTING SOMEWHERE WITH THE TIMELINE
Also I think so? Which green ninja reveal are you referring to specifically the Morro one or the Lloyd one?

Fireflies: Morro x Reader
-i was originally writing this on a whim but saw a request and was like, okay this fits PERFECTLY for that request, so here ya go -okay don’t judge me but I think Morro’s cool -banc is some random guy i made up just now lmaooo -you’re an elemental master and Morro’s childhood friend because yeahhhh
Summary: Humans are insignificant, tiny beings. Your time is drawing near and you’re sure your life was a waste.
Dreams were powerful. They became the very thing that drove people to the edge. But they were also the very thing that drove people forward, and taught them to keep looking up in the dark. When you were young, you used to wish upon a star. You used to lay awake at night, staring at the ceiling in thought.
Now, you couldn’t. Your breaths began to slow, your eyes fluttered open and closed. This was the final blow. Your final stand. Was it really okay to be out here all alone? At least you had the stars and the moon to keep you company. They had lit your way and guided you to your target. If it weren’t for those tiny little specks above, you wouldn’t have completed the stupid mission.
Sometimes you wondered if things could have been different. Before you left the monastery, you should have given Morro a tighter hug, a longer smile, a bigger laugh. You should have told your sensei how much you adored having him around, how much you admired and respected him for what he did. You should have sent another letter to Garmadon and written about how boring it was without having him around.
There were so many things left unsaid. Unwritten. Forgotten. Why didn’t you cling tighter to them?
“(Y/n)!”
Your breath hitched. Was that...?
“(Y/N)!”
You let out a strangled wheeze. “M-Morro...” The grass parted around you and swished with the breeze. He collapsed by your side, heaving and mumbling under his breath. “What happened?” he demanded. “Where were you?! We captured that guy, but then you just disappeared!” Morro didn’t even try to hide the fear in his voice as he ripped his sleeve and tied it around your wounds.
The man you were trying to catch was a serial killer. You thought he was some lowly idiot, but it turned out he had an entourage of killing machines. He experimented on them, and that gave them abilities no normal people should possessed. “Morro...” You winced. “Leave. That guy, he...he has these people who...”
“Just shut up.” His was holding back tears. “You aren’t dying on me, and even if that guy had backup, you bet Sensei won’t have trouble taking them out. I’m bringing you home, so don’t you dare sleep on me.” You intertwined your bloody hand with his. “Morro, please. Go.” He clenched his teeth.
“No!” His voice came out harsh, but you knew it was good-natured. “I’m not leaving you! Not again.” You turned to stare at the starry sky. What was Morro referring to? Whatever it was felt like so long ago--or was that just your hazy memory? No, you had incredible memory.
“(Y/n), stay awake!”
You were sleepy. The stars were beginning to fade, along with Morro’s beautiful eyes glazed over with tears. Fireflies rose from the grass, fluttering past your view in little specks of light. You wondered what it felt like to be so free and insignificant. They had no responsibilities, no nothing save for living.
What did that feel like?
“Hey...” you whispered. “Remember that time you...helped me up...after I...after I scraped my knee?” Morro squeezed your hand, but it was like he hadn’t at all. Your limbs were numb in pain.
“What are you talking about?” he demanded. “Save your strength--”
You laughed and it was melancholy and broken and sad and all the things Morro wished he never heard. This wasn’t you. It wasn’t what he wanted for you. The sky was blurring in a mix of pale moonlight and scattered dots of stars. You thought back to that day, the one where you had scrapped your knee.
Blood gushed out of the tattered skin. You winced, wishing with bitter regret that you hadn’t overstepped your attack. It wouldn’t have happened if you were paying more attention, but how could you when Morro was so attractively distracting?
He glanced at you from over his shoulder and paused. “Hold on,” he told his sparring partner. You blew on the open wound. Maybe it would help ease the pain, you weren’t sure. “First Spinjitzu Master, urgh.”
Morro knelt by your side, eyes all soft and warm. “You’re such a clutz sometimes.” You huffed. “I wouldn’t be if you weren’t so freaking...” Heat rose to your cheeks, reddening them like apples. There was no way you’d openly admit he made you trip over your own two feet.
“’So freaking’ what?” he inquired, raising a brow. Your rosy cheeks darkened and Morro let out a bright laugh. “Wait here.” He stood and hurried inside the monastery. His sparring partner, Banc, sent you big thumbs up. You rolled your eyes at him and threw your scabbard at him. He easily caught it with a smirk grin.
“When are you going to tell him?”
You raised a brow. “Tell him what?”
“That you like him.” Banc said it like it was the mot obvious thing in all of Ninjago, but it wasn’t like he was wrong. Sensei Wu saw it, Garmadon saw it, everyone saw it. What a miracle it would be if it was a secret, or at least a quiet thing.
“Morro’s the only one who doesn’t realise it.” you muttered. Banc rolled his eyes. “Then tell him! I’ll go insane if you keep your mouth shut for another day.” The Monastery doors opened and Morro jogged out with a wet handkerchief and a bandage. “I don’t mean to keep you guys waiting,” he said, “but this is important.”
“To you.” Banc jested. Morro rolled his eyes playfully. He knelt back by your side and gently wiped the wound. “(Y/n) could die if the wound gets infected, so it’s important anyway.” You snorted. “A wound’s not going to kill me.”
“It very well could if one is not careful.”
You turned to look at the open doors. Sensei waltzed out, bamboo staff in one hand and straw hat in the other. His bag, heavy around his shoulders, was big and filled with as much stuff as he could fit. You wondered if it was because of tea or scrolls. “Are you going somewhere?”
He nodded. “I’m afraid so. In the mean time, I hope you all come to realise what’s hidden under the surface. Whether it be hidden feelings,” he cast you a knowing look, “or personal progression. Keep the Monastery tidy and please don’t forget to pickle the vegetables. I’d hate not to have any pickled radish without my rice.”
You all shared a good-natured chuckle. Morro wrapped your knee in a bandage and turned to glance at Sensei with curious eyes. They sparkled like the clouds in the rising sunlight, just like little nuggets of gold. “What do you mean by ‘hidden feelings’?” Sensei smiled warmly. “You will have to find that out on your own. I’ll be off now, you will see me in seven days’ time.”
The moment Sensei disappeared down the front steps and Banc had closed the doors tight, silence fell over you three. Banc kept looking at you with that stupid grin of his and you had to admit, it was getting annoying. Whenever Morro turned his back to you, he motioned for you to tell him.
An hour passed, then five and six. The sun began to set along the horizon, and that was when Banc decided it was high time you fulfilled your task.
“Morro,” Banc announced. “(Y/n) has something to tell you.”
At the foot of the mountain, you lay in a large field. Morro was on your right, and Banc on your left. The fireflies that flitted past your vision were as bright as the stars, maybe even brighter. A single one landed on your nose and Morro couldn’t help but think about how beautiful you were in that moment.
“What do you want to tell me?” he inquired. You stared at the lone firefly, cheeks a dim red in its glow. “Uh...it’s...it’s nothing.”
“Are you sure? Banc looks like he wants to yell at you.” he said with a chuckle. The firefly launched off your nose and joined its family in a swarm of bright specks of light.
“Okay, okay. Maybe I do have something to say. It’s just that I...uh...I...”
A soft smile rested upon your lips. “You didn’t...didn’t forget that day...did you?” Morro touched his forehead to yours. His tears glistened in the moonlight and touched your cheeks like a misty morning drizzle. “No,” he whispered. “Of course I didn’t forget. How...how could I?”
You released one of his hands and shakily placed it on his damp cheeks. This was it, nothing else could stop time and save you from your last moments. No magic, no element, no god would or could come to your aid. But that was okay. As long as you Morro stayed right here in these moments, you’d be happy.
Happy. What a funny word.
“I...I don’t want to die.” Your voice cracked and Morro didn’t ignore it. “I don’t want you to die either.”
“What...what will...happen when I’m dead?” Morro heaved in a sharp breath and shook his head. “You won’t die,” --he chocked back a sob-- “I won’t let you.” That was a lie. Even though he didn’t want you to die, how could he save you? Morro was the Master of Wind, not death or resurrection. There wasn’t anything to do, no matter what he said.
“When...when I’m gone...promise you’ll...move on?”
A look of horror snapped through his eyes, as if he couldn’t bear the thought of ever having to let you go. It wasn’t what he did. How could he when you were his light, his life? If you hadn’t been around, then he would have died trying to prove Destiny wrong.
“I...I love you Morro.”
“I love you more.” He pulled you close into the security of his arms and hugged you tight. “But please, please don’t go.” You smiled again with the last of your strength. It was all you could do when the world was fading, blurring into dots and colours.
You shut your eyes. Your hand went limp.
Morro stilled and tightened his hold on your dead body. Fireflies flew past him in glowing paths of specks. A single firefly landed on your nose, illuminating the dried splatter of blood on your cheeks. In that moment, he couldn’t help but notice how beautiful you were.
“I love you (Y/n). I love you more than anything in Ninjago.”

Tumblr media
The wind is sharp tonight.
It nibbles at your skin, eliciting an uneasy weight onto your chest. Something about the way it caresses your skin feels so familiar, but at the same time, it’s eerily foreign. A shudder runs down your spine as you rub your arms, trying to get rid of the goosebumps dotting your skin. The distant howling of the breeze almost sounds like a whisper…
“Doing okay?”
You jump a bit in response to the sudden voice, the heavy feeling subsiding as Kai steps up beside you.
“Did I scare you?” he wonders, frowning.
“A little,” you confess, biting your lip.
“You never get spooked like that unless you’re lost in thought,” he notes, studying you with his warm gaze. “What’s on your mind?”
“Nothing, really,” you reply, sighing. “Can we go inside?”
“Sure,” he says, stepping aside so that you can enter your suite first. Kai shuts the sliding door once he enters.
“Where are the others?” you wonder.
“In Lloyd’s room, just hanging out, I think. Maybe planning. I just wanted to come check on you.”
“Why?”
“Because you seemed off last night,” Kai notes, frowning as he studies you. “I can tell something is up. I can also tell that you didn’t sleep well.”
“I’m fine,” you retort, crossing your arms and huffing. “Just leave it.”
“Neuro seemed to understand.”
“I wish he didn’t,” you spit, clenching your teeth. “Will you please drop it? I promise you that I’m fine.”
Kai sighs, sitting down on the end of your bed. “If you say so. But you know your dad isn’t going to relent when he asks you about it.”
“I know,” you mutter. “I’ll tell you after all this blows over, but I can’t right now.”
“Fine,” Kai replies reluctantly before laying down with his arms crossed underneath his head. “Have it your way. Damn, you’re worse than Nya. So hardheaded.”
“Look who’s talking,” you retort. “Don’t even get me started on how hypocritical you’re being.”
This draws another sigh out of him as he closes his eyes and rubs his forehead.
You sit by the edge of the bed, leaning your back against the side. “You know what I’m talking about. Don’t even pretend you don’t.”
“Yeah. You’re right. You understand my position, but…I also understand yours. And now, it’s biting me in the ass.”
“Look,” you say, turning towards him and laying your hands on his stomach. You prop your chin atop your hands, looking at him. “I appreciate that you’re worried, but I know I can’t say anything right now, as fucked as it is. Not with tensions being so high already. If we make one wrong move, it could cost us dearly.”
“Yeah, true. Okay then. I won’t pry anymore.”
You smile, moving so that you’re on his chest now. “Thanks, Kai.”
“You’re welcome,” he mumbles softly, running his fingers through your hair a few times, and it makes you a bit sleepy. Mmm. Just like old times.
“You’re gonna make me fall asleep,” you mutter through a lidded gaze.
Kai chuckles, giving you a gentle pat before sighing. “I hope Cole’s okay.”
“We could go look for him,” you point out, sitting up.
“Did you discover a passageway in your room?” Kai questions.
“Yeah, it’s over here.” You stand, walking over to the table in your room. You reach underneath it, your fingertips fumbling for a tiny switch you’d accidentally stumbled upon earlier.
“Nice. Think you can find the prison from here?”
“I’m pretty sure I can if we wander around long enough,” you answer with a chuckle as you flick the switch. With a tiny click, a portion of your wall opens to reveal a hidden passage.
It’s quiet.
A slight draft gently tousles your hair as you and Kai progress through the hallway, your footsteps the only sources of sound present for the moment.
“This place is so big,” Kai notes, flames encasing his fist as his head swivels around. “How far do you think we are from the cells?”
“Not terribly far – in fact, I think we’re getting close. This part looks really familiar. Hell, we may even be able to find the factory too.”
Kai’s fiery light source aside, the hallway is still pretty dark. Not that it bothers you, but it makes you realize there aren’t any peepholes over here. You wonder why that is.
You’ve noticed that ever since your last visit, this place hasn’t changed all that much. You know you’ve been here before.
Eventually, the two of you come across a new hallway – this one is much brighter and is angled into a right turn.
“We’re here,” you say, lowering you voice as Kai follows you to the wall.
And sure enough, a quick peer around the corner reveals that you have arrived at the prison. Nice. Looks like your memory isn’t complete shit after all.
“Nice,” Kai comments, grinning. “Let’s have a look.”
“Wait,” you whisper, spotting two guards patrolling the area. Though it’s not a huge concern, you know you still need to be careful. You crouch behind the wall, Kai copying your movements and remaining silent.
You press your back against the wall once the guards turn to face your direction. You strain your ears to listen for their footsteps. Soon enough, they approach your position. Once they’re finished surveying their surroundings, you wait for them to resume their patrol. After waiting a few seconds, Kai nods to you. You smirk, sneaking up behind the two guards before breaking into a sprint at the last second and slamming your hands into the back of their heads and pushing them into the ground. Purple veins of magic course into their skin, effectively knocking them out.
Great. Time to hide these morons.
You spot a vacant cell nearby and decide to throw them both in there after checking them over. Nothing of use is present – including any keys.
“Damn,” Kai says with a whistle after the guards have been hidden. “You still play rough.”
“You should know that by now,” you reply with a wink, smirking as you turn around.
You cautiously peer into each cell that follows. A few of them are empty, a few hold bandits or other petty criminals, and one holds a…silver man?
Wait – that must be Zane!
“Kai, over here,” you instruct, waving him over.
“What is it?!” he asks as he jogs over. You simply smile and point to the cell.
“Zane? Zane!” Kai yells. “Hey!”
The nindroid seems to be unconscious at the moment, but otherwise, he looks okay. You make a mental note of his cell’s location.
“Well, he may not be awake, but I’m just glad he’s here. He’s here, and he’s-he’s alive-“
You place a hand on Kai’s shoulder, squeezing it lightly. “Yes. He’s safe, and we will get him out. But not now.”
“No, we can’t just leave him!”
“We have to,” you say, staring into his warm eyes. “Think about it. When Chen realizes he’s gone, we’re gonna be targeted even more. We have a better chance of freeing Zane and stopping Chen by waiting until we have a solid plan.”
Kai still doesn’t look convinced. You sigh, having expected this. “Kai, look at it this way. If we can find Cole, we can tell him about Zane. If he can free Zane, then that’ll mean we have two people working from down here, which could prove invaluable in the end.”
A groan escapes the fire elemental as he relents. “Okay, you’re right.”
“And that also means that…if Zane’s down here, then Cole has to be,” you mutter, approaching the next cell and taking a look. Kai walks ahead to check the next few.
Soon enough, the sound of Kai speaking catches your attention. You notice he’s stopped at a cell near the end. As you get closer, you realize you know this voice.
“Cole?” you question, stepping beside Kai so you can peek into the cell.
Sure enough, there stands none other than the Master of Earth himself. His eyes widen as he says your name once.
“Hey!” you say, smiling. “Are you okay?”
“I’m fine. They just took my powers, is all,” he answers, sighing with a slightly downcast gaze.
“Well shit,” you mumble with a small frown. “That’s…not good. Oh, but your friend is down here at least.”
“Kai told me,” he says with a cute grin and relieved eyes.
You nod. “Good. He’s only a few cells away in that direction.”
“Thanks, guys,” Cole says, tone laced with appreciation.
“No problem. Now hold tight, I’m going to see if I can find a key,” Kai replies, going to search the area before Cole cuts him off.
“Wait, Kai. It’s not that I don’t appreciate the thought, but you guys shouldn’t risk more than you already have. If they find out you came down here, then Chen is going to pull more dirty tricks to get you guys out too. It’s better that we don’t risk that. We’re already split up enough as it is.”
“But Chen is going to make you work in the factory to work with the other losers,” you point out.
“Yeah, but I can do some damage down here if I can get Zane out and band with the other Elementals. Leave Zane to me, and I’ll leave everything up top to you guys.”
“Okay,” you say, looking to Kai.
He folds his arms, nodding in reply. “How about we come in to check on you?”
“Not necessary, but you can if you want,” Cole answers, his hands coming up to grip the bars of his cell. “And be careful if you do.”
“Will do. Alright, I’ll be right back. I wanna check something over here,” Kai says before he walks over to the unexplored part of the hallway.
With Kai gone, you turn to Cole with a soft smile and lowered voice. “Hey. What you did last night took a lot of courage. You did the right thing.”
Cole’s eyes widen in surprise slightly before he averts his gaze bashfully. “O-Oh…well, I’m glad. I feel a lot better now even though I got sent here.”
“That’s good,” you say. “I knew you would find the right thing to do.”
“I’m glad I did,” he mumbles. “How’s Jay?”
“He seems alright. From what Kai told me, he was upset about you losing, but he’s also glad you two settled everything.”
“I’m glad he’s okay. Well, I can deal with being down here. Especially since we found Zane.”
You go to respond, but are cut off when you feel Kai roughly grabbing your arm and pulling you away from Cole’s cell. Cole confusedly glances at the two of you before shifting his gaze to the other side of the hallway, where his eyes widen in realization.
It’s then you notice two humanoid shadows entering the hallway from where Kai just came.
Kai manages to yank you behind the entrance wall, pulling you to his chest. It appears the two of you managed to hide just in time, too, because you hear the voices of two guards emanating from ahead.
“Hey!” Cole barks. “You can take my power, but you’ll never take my super strength!” He grunts for a second before sighing. “Alright, so you got that too.”
You muffle a giggle with your hands before Kai takes your hand and pulls you back through the secret passageway.
“Eenie, meenie, minie, moe. Catch a Jadeblade by its toe!”
You observe Skylor’s fight with a small smirk on your face, crossing your arms and sitting back. It seems as though your father is watching just as interestedly as you are.
“Master of Sound's gotten stronger since the last time I saw him,” Garmadon notes.
You’re about to reply when you hear a minor commotion emanating from your left. You turn to see Kai stumbling through the observing crowd.
“Excuse me. Excuse me. Uh, don't mean to block your view. Just passing through!”
You sigh, shaking your head slightly as Kai comes to sit down. “Sorry, all of these temples look the same. Did I miss anything?”
Jay scowls. “By the looks of it, you didn’t miss much.” He gestures to the annoyed crowd before sighing. “Maybe we shouldn't be sitting together. I mean, the more they think we're a team, the bigger targets we put on ourselves.”
“Don't say that. We are a team! Sure, we just lost Cole…and still can't find Zane, but we're a team. Just smaller. All the more reason to stick together,” Lloyd argues.
Ah, that’s right. You still haven’t told them about Zane yet.
“Skylor’s fighting?!” Kai yells.
“Hell yes,” you reply, returning your gaze to your friend’s fight. You already know she has this one in the bag.
With that, you all quiet down to watch her finish off the fight by confusing Jacob and breaking the last vase. She catches the Jadeblade with a smirk.
“Let’s go!” you screech, jumping up along with Kai.
“WInner! And loser. I hope the Tournament of Elements has entertained you as much as it has me. To thank you, I wanted to give everyone fancy jewels and untold shiny things. But then in yesterday's battle, Master Jay and Cole tried to undermine me by teaming up and refusing to fight each other. And that made me very upset. For their insubordination, all of your fancy quarters will be taken away, and tonight everyone must sleep together in the chow house. That is all. Thank you, you can go.” With that, Chen exits.
“Nice one, Jay,” Kai spits. You punch him in the arm with a light chuckle.
“Whoa, easy, Romeo!”
“Don't worry about them. We aren't here to make friends, just to save ours,” Lloyd says.
“Yes, but your exclusion of others has only made enemies,” Garmadon advises. “Beware how you treat those around you, for they will treat you the same.”
“This isn’t going to go well,” you mumble, already feeling unsteady on your skates. You frown, trying to get the hang of the motion, but it’s not really working.
“Ugh, I know. I feel so helpless in these!” Kai yells, not in much better shape.
“Yeah, I don’t like the look of this,” Lloyd adds.
“Don’t worry!” Kai chirps, trying to find his balance. “We got your back - aaagh!”
Kai topples over, grabbing onto your arm. You grunt as he pulls you down with him.
“Great job!” you hiss, pushing yourself off of him. “Ugh, I hate this already…”
“Welcome to my favorite event - Thunderblade!” Chen yells at his throne.
Griffin perks up at the mention: “Hey, I know this game. It's just like—“
Chen scowls. “No, it's not like that! This is my game. I made it up! Fully original! A Jadeblade for you, Lloyd, Master of Power.” He tosses a helmet and blade to Lloyd, who catches them with ease. “And another for Chamille, Master of Form. Rules are simple. Each lap you complete with your Blade in possession, a point. Most points before time expires, you win.”
“Whoa, whoa, whoa. What about us? Are we supposed to just stand here?” asks Griffin.
“You get to help anyone you wish…or hurt, for that matter. You're free to choose sides. I'm not a dictator.”
You watch as the rest of the elemental masters side with Chamille. You stick with Lloyd, Kai, and Jay, realizing just how not good this is going to go.
“What was that you said about us having targets on our backs?” Lloyd mutters.
“Don’t worry. We’re still a team-“ Kai yelps as he falls again.
“I gotta be honest. This doesn’t look good,” Jay notes, frowning.
“You think?” you mumble, trying to get your footing.
“Lloyd, Master of Power, versus Chamille, Master of Form. Most laps with their Jadeblade when time runs out wins. Loser is out. Thunderbladers - on your mark, get set, go-od luck to everyone…” you hear Chen muttering something as he spins around in his chair, but you don’t quite catch it. “Now go!”
With that, Chamille and Lloyd are off. You’re glad at least half of your team can skate properly. Skates. Why skates?!
Whatever. You can make it work. Kind of.
“It’s us against the world, guys,” Jay starts, a determined expression on his face. “If Lloyd has any chance of moving forward in the tournament, it’s up to us.”
“Okay, I’m going to…do my best,” you mutter, perking up when you see Phantom arriving. He starts pushing you by your back as he runs, making you go!
“Whoa, okay,” you say before smirking. “This works too.”
Jay shocks some of the other masters, allowing Lloyd to break through, but that lead is for naught when Kai trips on him again.
You sigh. This is going to be difficult.
Decision made, you decide that even if you’re unsteady on skates, you can at least do some damage.
Phantom pushes you up next to Griffin Turner, who you elbow in the jaw. He trips and falls, though you know that won’t last for long. Next up, you catch Tox in a rear choke before using Phantom’s grasp on you to steady yourself and toss her over your hip, making her fall too.
“Nice,” Jay comments.
“Thanks,” you say. “I don’t really know what I’m doing, though. Have a plan in mind?”
“Just keep trying to slow them down,” he directs. “I’ll try to keep up with Lloyd and help him.”
You nod. “Need a push to catch up?”
“That’d be much appreciated!”
You fall behind the lightning ninja before blasting a docile strain of destruction at Jay’s back. It launches him forward, just in time as a random ramp pops up in front of you. Jay makes the jump, but you, on the other hand, do not.
A grunt escapes you as you land in a front break fall, the impact jarring you more than you’d like to admit.
“Fucking hell,” you curse as you get to your feet. “I hate skating!”
Though, as you stand, you realize that the group is about halfway to where you are, and about to lap you. You realize that Lloyd is in front of the rest of the masters.
Hm. Well, you may suck at skating, but there’s one thing you’re amazing at – and that’s fucking shit up.
An idea comes to you as you turn and wait for the crowd to get closer. You ready yourself when Chamille and Lloyd pass you.
“Here goes nothing,” you mutter as the skaters approach.
With a screech, you launch yourself horizontally at the group.
You’re not sure who goes down first, because the wind is knocked out of your lungs once you land. Once you regain your breath, though, you find that the majority of the masters have been knocked down. Even Kai, but that’s not really a surprise.
Phantom shakes his head before helping you stand once more.
“What the hell was that?” Griffin questions as he tries to stand up. You slam your palm into his jaw, sending him back down.
“A makeshift mass takedown,” you answer before you turn and let Phantom push you again.
“Your tactics are…questionable sometimes, Mistress,” Phantom comments.
“It worked, though,” you comment.
“True…but still.”
Moments later, you hear the sound of an engine roaring.
“Seriously?” you say as you spot Chamille getting a lift from one of Chen’s buggies, but she’s slowed down when Kai uses his fire to launch himself at her and drag her down. Jay picks up her Jadeblade and keeps skating.
You’re not really sure what you should be doing now, because while Chamille has regained her blade, you notice that the masters are talking amongst themselves now. Even so, Chamille is still in the lead, and time is running out. You decide that you’ll try to slow her down for the last few laps.
Decision made, you study her for a few seconds before you’re able to predict her movement, summoning a destructive blast where she is. It works enough to let Lloyd catch up, but she gets back to her feet quickly.
It’s then you realize Lloyd has taken the buggy and is regaining his lost ground.
You snap your head over to Chen’s throne when you hear Clouse chanting. You’re about to interfere, but it appears as if your dad hears it as well. He attacks Clouse and stops the spell, so with that in mind, you start sending more attacks Chamille’s way.
Finally, the race finishes when Chamille beats Lloyd before realizing she doesn’t have her Jadeblade. A smirk crosses your face as you join the other masters and watch her fall down the trapdoor hole. Despite the victory, you can’t help but feel a tiny bit of disappointment – before all this, you had enjoyed her company.
Oh well. I suppose it’s one more elemental we don’t have to worry about.

can we read anything for the glass cutter AU? Its living in my brain rent free and I neeeeed more 0-0 Its so amazing <3
Unfortunately (or fortunately), this is not just a romantic story, it's just that I'm drawing one challenge right now. :) I'm sorry, there is a lot of text here.
I use this tag to mark posts related to story of my main character, Hani. The presence of the OC changes the events of the plot of the series, so I can say that this is AU. Since this is not a single plot, but a story associated with almost each of the seasons of Ninjago, AU doesn't have a single idea. But I can say that this is a story where there is another ninja in the team.
I know there are many such characters, and this AU was originally made just for fun. But maybe I can make something good out of it.
I have a detailed article describing Hani's storyline, but I haven't translated it yet, so I'll tell you the most important things.
Hani is the daughter of Wu's ally, Keyon. During the events of the pilot episode, he was killed by skeletons – so Wu said. Hani then became the new master of glass.
Hani studied at Darkley's Boarding School for Great Children, where the ninjas worked as teachers after the second season. She could not learn to control the element on her own, so the glass was attracted to her against her will and left cuts. The ninjas noticed this, but didn't going to interfere, but Zane took pity on the girl. He became involved with her despite Wu's ban (he didn't need the daughter of Keyon, because Keyon died through Wu's fault). Hani became very attached to Zane, with whom she felt safe. He taught the girl frightened by her abilities to find strength in herself. Zane was not sure if her abilities were similar to those of a ninja, but he understood that they should be used for the good of Ninjago so that Hani would not use them for evil. Therefore, he did his best to have Hani join the ninja team and be under their supervision. To do this, he had to argue with his friends and Wu.
In Rebooted, Zane managed to gain Hani's recognition as a team member. Yes, she was weaker than a ninjas, but over time she could become a good fighter – and, most importantly, her abilities would not threaten the safety of Ninjago. Unfortunately, Zane died, and the ninjas didn't want to take responsibility for the girl, so they left her in the care of Garmadon.
After the death of Zane, she was devastated, as after losing her father. But she continued to train alongside Lloyd and Garmadon. Constant training and the desire to be stronger made her character quite tough, but she could confidently fight the enemy. Garmadon didn't like her aggression and too strong will to win, he tried to make Hani more calm.
In the Tournament of Elements, these problems intensified. Clouse skillfully used Hani's aggression, making her an enemy for all other participants in the Tournament. The girl herself, due to the constant use of the element in battles, lost her common sense. Even her appearance began to change. In the end, Clouse was almost able to get her to fight by his side – but Hani was too dangerous, so Chen decided to get rid of her. She was thrown in the desert, chained to the skeleton of some monster. Hani missed the battle in the Elders' Corridors. It was only after this hard lesson that she realized the importance of Garmadon's ideas. But it was already too late.
Maybe Hani would have died in the desert... If not for Morro. He introduced himself as a poor traveler and helped her get out of the chains, while learning from Hani about what is happening in Ninjago. Later they met as opponents. Morro offered Wu to exchange Lloyd for one of the ninjas (this was an attempt to eliminate Nya; if the elements returned to the ninjas, Wu would not develop her abilities). Wu traded Lloyd for Hani. Master never wanted to take her on the team and thus got rid of her. Hani realized that Lloyd was more valuable to the team than she was, and also she hoped to get rid of Wu with Morro's help. As a result, Morro and Hani tried to manipulate each other, but they succeeded equally badly – so they only learned the secrets and weaknesses of each other, being in the same body. Both became vulnerable to each other, so they ceased to be strangers. At the end of Possession, Hani pulled Morro out of the water, creating her Elemental Dragon for the first time. Morro was unable to surrender and die when he had a living ally.
After Morro stayed with the ninjas, the course of events in the canon changed quite a lot.
In the Skybound, Hani looked for ways to bring Morro back to life. But first, Wu had to be convinced to remove the curse from the student. While trying to complete these tasks, Hani found herself trapped like the other ninjas. But Morro was used to achieving everything himself and remained at large, and in the end he helped Jay and his team.
Day of the Departed was the perfect moment to bring Morro back to life. Wu surrendered and removed the curse from him, the portal is open and can let Morro through. But his fear of being unprepared for life almost ruined everything. Morro considers Yang's fate unfair and was ready to give him a place in the world of the living. Cole practically forcibly sent Morro into the portal so that he would not interfere in the fight between the master of the earth and Yang.
In the Recording (fanseason) reveals the stories of the Morro and Hani families. The wind masters are associated with the Cloud Kingdom, which is now in danger. Only Morro, whose fate is in his own hands, can fight the lord of fate. Hani and Lloyd go in search of the Master of Writing, because only they can actively move between worlds: Lloyd is a descendant of the FSM, and Hani, like the former glass masters, is called upon to protect him and follow him. The fates of Morro and Hani, written in the scrolls of their fates, are contrary to their wishes, and they must deal with this.
You can find a little more information about Record on my Instagram, later I want to make full posts here.
During the fight with the Hands of Time, Hani was almost glad that Wu had resigned and supported Lloyd as the new leader. But gradually she began to sympathize with Wu, despite what he had done in the past. The fact that he sacrificed himself to save the students changed Hani's opinion of him. But Morro still hasn't forgiven the teacher. He believed that Wu couldn't just disappear from the life of a ninjas.
The events of the Sons of Garmadon are changed: Lloyd approaches Harumi not because of sympathy for her (since he is already in a relationship with another character, besides, sympathy for the girl is too weak a hook), but because of the desire to bring his father back to life. But to bring back the real Garmadon, not his evil appearance. The real Garmadon will be able to deal with the Sons, like the Anacondrai generals with Chen's army. Harumi, like the entire imperial family, belongs to a mysterious association that knows the secrets of resurrection from the dead. Mysticism and a blind desire to meet his father again deprives Lloyd of the ability to think sanely, and he believes Harumi. Can't a whole secret society lie? Unbeknownst to Lloyd, Harumi bribed the respected Ninjago explorers and mystics to put on this whole show. But Morro doesn't trust the imperial family, since he once participated in the war between the dynasties. He is confident that the Sons of Garmadon are ruled by the descendants of the overthrown dynasty. He doesn't believe in the resurrection of Garmadon and condemns such attachment of Lloyd to his dead father. Morro is also suspicious of Harumi's physical fitness. He is a dangerous foe, so the Sons are trying to eliminate him. Hani generally agrees with Morro, but she still really wants to see Garmadon, so she doesn't want to suspect Harumi. Morro is on a ship and enters the Realm of Oni and Dragons, Hani stays with Lloyd. Before parting, Morro manages to conclude a Yin-Yang Promise with her.
In Hunted, Morro didn't lose heart and settled in the desert - he was used to wandering and starving. Morro tried to save the wind dragon from the Hunters, but failed, was punished, and nearly died. Despite all this, the cruel world of Oni and Dragons came to his liking. As Wu grew older, he and Morro finally found a common language and came to an agreement. Hani at this time trying to continue the fight after the loss of Morro and Zane. She becomes cruel again, like in the Tournament. Due to the destruction of the city in the streets a lot of broken glass, and with so many shells Hani can easily destroy enemies. Harumi gives the order to clear the streets of glass in order to deprive the Resistance of such a dangerous and ubiquitous weapon, but getting rid of all the glass in the city is impossible. The ninjas returned in time – blinded by grief, Hani has not yet lost herself, as in the Tournament.
Morro and Hani already hope for a respite and calm, but Oni's appearance again forces them to be ready for battle. Hani has both interest and disgust for Garmadon, who was resurrected by Harumi. Morro willingly communicates with him, Garmadon cannot really offend him with his sharp remarks. Hani greatly fears for Lloyd's life as he and Garmadon descend into the Darkness. After Cole's fall, Hani tries not to lose control of herself, as she did before. Morro tries to use the wind to pull Cole out of the Darkness, but is unable to break through the cloud. In the final battle with Oni, Morro and Hani use Spinjitzu. Morro is hesitant to team up with the others in the Tornado of Creation because he is unsure of his ability to use Spinjitzu, but Hani persuades him to take the risk. After the completion of the Tornado, Morro hits hard against the wall of the monastery. This encourages him to actively learn Spinjitzu.
The Secrets of the Forbidden Spinjitzu events have been changed, but I haven't finished the AU for this season yet. For now, I can say that the ninjas ended up in the tomb of snakes not out of boredom, but because of the deception of Clutch Powers: he competed with a young researcher for a place in the Club and wanted to use the ninjas to pass traps in the tomb. The Forbidden Spinjitzu is a special elimination weapon used by the FSM to purge Ninjago of its serious competitors. The theme of not just winning, but eliminating enemies runs through the entire season and makes it darker, because the enemy of the ninjas is now Zane. And he is not going to negotiate with them.
Hani's story in 12-13 seasons in progress.
Thanks for reading to the end!

Why Amon Should Have Been An Android
(spoilers for LoK and Young Justice season 1)
If you followed my LoK liveblog at all you may have noticed that I theorized at one point or another that all four major villains of LoK (Amon, Unalaq, Zaheer, and Kuvira) were secretly robots/androids (the term I used was robot, but the more accurate term would have been android.) Now, with Unalaq it was definitely just because I found him boring, with Zaheer it was to make fun of the fact that he was an Airbending prodigy with zero training, and with Kuvira it was because it was a thing at that point for me to predict that an LoK villain was a robot (and I was kind of right that time!!)
But with Amon? I was completely serious. We never see his face, his cause is stupid (and the perfect way for his programmers to start some trouble in Republic City), and he was able to resist bloodbending, which, if you’ll recall, requires that the victim have blood for it to work. You know who doesn’t have blood? That’s right, androids/robots.
But there’s another reason that I sincerely thought Amon was going to be a robot (android), and it’s the reason I’m writing this. There was something naggingly familiar about LoK to me, and no, it wasn’t that it was a sequel series to ATLA. To me, LoK doesn’t really feel a lot like ATLA (barring, of course, the very poorly shoehorned in fanservice cameos of Iroh, three times, like he’s a recurring character or something.) I struggled to pinpoint exactly what it was, but in my own observations and the observations of other people that I was talking to while liveblogging, a couple key differences became clear:
Tumblr media
[ID: an image of Korra from the back looking out towards Republic City, which is shown to have large white skyscrapers, a bay, and numerous smaller buildings. Much of it is obscured by fog and clouds. The city is built in the middle of a sprawling bay. /End ID]
1. the setting of LoK is incredibly Americanized and Eurocentric. While ATLA displays a lot of cultural insensitivity towards the cultures it borrows from in choosing how to depict them, LoK...doesn’t really depict other cultures. Republic City to me felt very similar to how 1920s New York is typically depicted in media, and no setting in the Earth Kingdom or Water Tribe was explored enough to really explore the unique cultures of those settings. While you can tell in ATLA that bryke was somewhat interested in (a vague, exoticized, unrealistic vision of) East Asian culture, LoK is very clearly inspired by America and Europe, with very little else influencing how the setting was depicted.
2. there are no “unimportant” people in LoK. Everybody is related to somebody we know from ATLA (or somebody from ATLA), a powerful business mogul, military, somebody high up in the government, a celebrity, and/or the Avatar. The only character I can really think of that’s an exception to this is Kai, who really does not have much of a role. (I guess you could argue that Mako is an exception but y’know...he was a famous pro-bender for a while there) You don’t just get to meet a regular person living in a village anymore. Every character in LoK has political, social, or cultural power.
These points, put together with the technological prowess of the world of LoK (which is different season to season and sometimes even episode to episode depending on how the writers are feeling that day), made the show feel very distant from ATLA, but very, very close to another show that I have watched and loved. And that show is Young Justice.
Tumblr media
[ID: an image, from left to right, of Batgirl, Blue Beetle, Bumblebee, Beast Boy, Miss Martian, Nightwing, Superboy, Wondergirl, Robin, and Red Arrow in the foreground, posing together. Above them and in the background are the adult heroes, obscured in shadow. From left to right, Red Tornado, Aquaman, Martian Manhunter, Batman, Superman, the Flash, Green Arrow, and Wonder Woman. They are all against a gradient blue background. /End ID]
For those not in the know, Young Justice is a DC animated cartoon focusing on the teen sidekicks, proteges, and relatives of superheroes like Batman, Superman the Flash, Green Arrow, Aquaman, Martian Manhunter, and others banding together to form their own superhero team. YJ is set in America, vaguely, with characters residing in cities with names like Gotham City, Star City, and Central City (a naming convention that Republic City fits right into). And as is apparent from the premise, most of the characters you’ll meet in YJ are superheroes, related to superheroes, or otherwise important business moguls, celebrities, or political figures. And while the world of YJ is of course significantly more technologically advanced than that of LoK, there’s more overlap than you’d think. Besides spaceships, teleportation, smartphones, and genetic engineering, there’s really not a lot of tech that YJ seasons 1 and 2 have that LoK doesn’t.
So you may be thinking, “ok Arthur, we get it, you’re a fucking nerd, what does this have to do with robots?” I’m glad you asked! One of the storylines of YJ focuses on the war between rival tech moguls Tio Morro and Professor Ivo, in which they build increasingly sophisticated androids. Ivo’s are pretty much just designed to kill supers, but Morro’s are expressly designed to mirror the human psyche, and desire to be a part of human society. Amon very clearly also desires a community, and does much of what he does to integrate himself into a community of nonbenders where he really doesn’t belong. Further, Morro’s androids are immune to threats that humans are not immune to because they are not made up of organic matter. For example, in season 1, episode 3, Miss Martian attempts to read Red Tornado’s mind, to no avail, because she can only read the minds of organic beings. In a similar vein, Amon was able to resist bloodbending, and while unfortunately that was not because he was an android, it would have made sense given the conventions of the cartoon android genre. I didn’t realize it at the time, but my previous YJ knowledge very much influenced the way I read that scene. The way Amon’s body was animated very much mirrored the animation of Morro’s androids trying to resist their evil creator’s programming.
So, I’ve taken you through the what, the how, but I promised that I’d say why Amon being an android would have been better, and I plan to deliver. First, it needs be remarked that while Amon being an android wouldn’t have made much sense, it would have only made slightly less sense than the canon explanation of Amon being Tarrlok’s secret brother. In fact, I’d argue that, if handled correctly, Amon being an android could make more sense and be more impactful. Here’s how I envision it: android! Amon would be pretty similar to Red Tornado, in that he would know that he was an android and be programmed to help people. He was of course, built by Hiroshi Sato (that man designed and likely built all the Equalists’ weapons he has the range), who sees himself as a sort of father to Amon. Hiroshi tells Amon about the systemic disenfranchisement of nonbenders and how a Firebender killed his wife, and Amon, being programmed to want to help people and to desire participation in human society, decides he wants to lead a revolution against benders. However, an android can’t very well openly lead a revolution (you could add a bit in the backstory episodes about how humans don’t trust androids or something), so Hiroshi and Amon come up with the story that Firebenders burned his face and hands, which is what prompted him to lead the revolution. Thus, his whole body, including his face, is covered, and his followers assume that it’s because the burns are so bad, and they follow him. In the latter half of the season, the krew would uncover Hiroshi’s involvement with the Equalists, but Asami would be the one to realize that Amon is an android that Hiroshi built. Amon being Hiroshi’s “son” of sorts would be another element of Asami coming to terms with the evils of her family, as Amon in this case would be a machine programmed to be easily manipulated to follow Hiroshi’s cause and would consider himself her brother, and she would have to reckon what to do with both of them. The nonbenders’ cause would still be legitimate after Amon was exposed as an android (unlike it is when the literal figurehead of their movement is also antithetical to their movement) and the heroes would have to reckon with the realities of bender supremacy and the hurt it caused. Amon could even get a redemption arc and work with world leaders to make a better society for nonbenders and androids like himself (I’m sure there’s some parallel you can draw between nonbender oppression and android oppression, though I can’t think of one atm) As an added bonus, Amon wouldn’t be able to bend, so he couldn’t bloodbend Korra, which would be one less time that an LoK villain took away Korra’s bodily autonomy. Amon could even be a recurring character in the later books, because really, wouldn’t LoK have been more fun with a newly-redeemed android sidekick still learning about what the world is outside of his creator’s narrow worldview? Plus, that would give Asami more to do in books 2 and 3 than meet Varrick and participate in love triangle drama (Amon is of course replacing Varrick’s presence on the show), and getting to know and bond with Amon could be the catalyst for her visiting her father in prison in book 4.
Remember, I didn’t claim that this would be good, I claimed that it would be better, and since the bar was on the ground with that secret brothers twist that wasn’t too hard to accomplish. tl;dr bryke are cowards, take the plunge and make him an android.

The Future is Bright, Chapter 6
[Chapter 1 (Beginning)] // [Chapter 5] // [Chapter 6 - you are here!] // [Chapter 7] // [Chapter 10 (End)] (FFN)
Cole now knows what he’s seen, but he still doesn’t know what it means. There’s still so much to know, and the mystery is centered in Shintaro. Good thing he has an ally who can help him find answers!
Summary: What would happen if Cole had indeed had a reflection in the tomb of the First Spinjitzu Master? How would that have changed his life later? What would it have been? This story follows what might have happened if he had seen something, and what it was; who he would have become. What if his future was already decided?... (Rated T for safety. Alternate title: the Cosmic Spoilers AU.)
Chapter 6: Drawing Conclusions
With the drawing from the First Master's tomb in tow, Cole hadn't wasted much time in going back to Shintaro, and had left a couple of days later. If he had any luck– assuming luck was real, like destiny apparently was– it would be enough to help him find whoever he was meant to find. Then it was just a matter of dealing with whatever that was.
When he at last arrived back in Shintaro, Vania greeted Cole with an enthusiastic hug, almost knocking him over. "Cole! It's good to see you!"
Cole laughed and hugged back, grinning. "Good to see you too, Queenie! I missed you!"
She beamed at him just as widely, almost vibrating in her excitement. "What's going on? I wasn't expecting to see you again so soon!"
He nodded, brushing his hair back. "I had something I needed to talk to you about, and I figured in-person was better than a letter."
Immediately, her brow creased with worry. "Something to talk about? Is something wrong?"
"No, not at all!" He put up his hands defensively. "It's okay– everything's completely okay. I just wanted to talk to you about something that happened, and maybe get your opinions on it? If it's not a problem, that is."
"Oh! No, it's not a problem! I love talking to you." She turned her head questioning. "Did you want to talk somewhere private, or just anywhere?"
"Somewhere private, I think." He smiled awkwardly. "It's kind of... personal."
"I can do that!" She clapped her hands. "Follow me!"
Cole did as she asked, and she led him into the palace. They followed a few hallways, going deep into the palace, until they at last stopped in a private room with a fireplace. She shut the doors behind them, and together they sat on a couch before the fireplace.
When they were at last comfortable, she smiled at him. "So, what was it that you wanted to talk about?"
He sighed. "Okay, so I have to explain a little bit before I can get to it, but I'm kind of wondering if you can help me figure something out. It has to do with Shintaro."
"Okay." She nodded. "What do you need to know?"
"Well…" He shrugged. "I guess I kind of need to know about Shintaro customs, and stuff. There's a bit of a backstory to why I need to know."
"Go ahead and tell it," she urged him enthusiastically. "I have plenty of time, don't skimp on the details."
"Okay." He sighed, relaxing a little and managing a smile. He was just talking to Vania. There was nothing scary about that: she wouldn't judge him. "So, you probably heard about what happened a few years ago in Stiix, right?"
"Of course. All those ghosts!" She laughed. "That's one of the stories we heard about the soonest, I think."
"Probably, it was a big deal." He found himself talking with his hands as well as his voice, waving them around a bit. "Anyway, right before that, we were dealing with Morro. He wanted to get the Realm Crystal to summon the Preeminent. Still sound familiar?"
"Yeah, completely!" She leaned forward, invested. "What about it? Did you stop him?"
"We had to find it before he did– not that we succeeded, but it was okay." He thought back to the events. "It was hidden in the First Spinjitzu Master's tomb, and he made it only accessible to Spinjitzu Masters like him. Morro had possessed Lloyd so he could get in."
"That's terrible!" She frowned. "Is he okay after that?"
"He's okay." Cole smiled at her concern. "This was years ago, remember?"
"If you say so. I just wanted to make sure." She smiled back.
Cole chuckled. "Well, that's sweet of you."
She smiled a little more. "I try."
He grinned back. "Okay. When we got there, we found a bunch of traps that only Spinjitzu Masters could survive. One was this huge maze of ice– and when I say huge, I mean huge. Gigantic."
"A maze of ice? Wouldn't that melt?" She frowned in confusion. "Unless it was enchanted…"
"Maybe, I don't know. Whatever it was, it wasn't just normal ice." He paused, attempting to describe it. "When you look at your reflection in the ice wall, it shows you a reflection of your future self, and when we made our way through, I saw mine."
She gasped, staring at him in rapt attention. "You're kidding. It shows the future?"
"Yup."
That's– that's incredible! It must have been fascinating!" She grinned brightly. "Future vision sounds incredible!"
"It's really cool- no pun intended. It kind of showed me that I was going to be human again, which was really nice. Made it easier to deal with being a ghost."
"I can imagine." She leaned in a little closer. "Speaking of which, what was it like being a ghost?"
He chuckled. "Numb, really. You don't feel anything, just kind of cold. Not on my list of top ten recommended experiences."
"Probably not." She sat back, trying to control her excitement, but still clearly enamored with the story. "So… did you just see yourself as human? How does that connect to Shintaro?"
"I'm getting there." He pulled out his sketchbook as he spoke. "When we saw our reflections, Kai, Zane, and Jay saw themselves dressed like senseis. Jay even saw Nya with him, which was just proof that they've always been meant to be. Thing is, I didn't see the same thing." He flipped to the right page and handed it over. "Jay, Nya and I went back last week to take another look, and I drew what mine looked like."
She took the sketchbook gently and examined the drawing, tracing the lines with a light touch. A soft smile bloomed on her face. "You're an incredible artist," she commented.
"Thanks. I'm okay." He smiled, watching her look at it with that sweet look on her face. "So… what do you think?"
She hummed. "Well, it looks like Shintaran robes, obviously."
"Yeah, it does." He shrugged. "I don't know what the heck I saw, but I've kind of been on edge about it since we first visited. Do you know anything about what it means?"
"Hm…" She looked at him, and then back at the drawing, and held it up to compare. "Well… I can kind of tell some things." She examined it a little more closely. "In this, you're wearing white and blue. That's something not many Shintarans wear, because it's the royal colors, but it's not unheard of for non-royals if they want to emulate the royals. Plus, you're wearing your own crest, not the royal one."
"Wait, there's a royal crest?" He looked at her quizzically. "I've never seen it."
"Oh, absolutely!" She smiled at him, brushing her bangs out of the way. "It's a spear and some clouds. You might've seen it around the palace somewhere if you looked close enough."
"I don't know." He laughed. "Last time I was here, I spent most of my time underground."
"That's fair." She laughed too and looked back down, pointing at the sketch to direct him. "See your belt? That's where you might wear your crest in Shintaran formal wear."
"Huh! It's still my dragon..."
"Yep. Either that's the crest you stuck with for just yourself if you came here, or that's the crest your family would take on. Either way, it's not unheard of either." Her brow furrowed. "That said, the style of robes is pretty impractical for everyday wear. This is formal clothing, like I said, so I think it's probably likely that it's royal clothing. That explains the colors better."
His heart caught in his chest. "Royal clothing? Are you saying I become part of the royal family?"
"If you got married and your yin was a Shintaran royal, yes." She smiled up at him again. "Sounds like you'll be moving up in the world."
"Huh." He smiled faintly, head spinning with the possible meanings and making him feel a little dizzy. He had thoughts about how little he knew of Shintaro, yet it was clear how much this meant here… was there extended royalty in the Shintaran royal family?
Eventually, he found his voice. "That's… that's a thought."
"I bet it is." Her smile formed into yet another infectious grin. "That said, it would be awesome!"
That threw him for a loop. "Huh? How come?"
"Because then you'd live here! Then we could see each other all the time!" she chirped. "I mean, it's obviously not great to leave Ninjago, because that's your home and you love it and you've always protected it, but it would be amazing to have you around! You'd love to live here in Shintaro, I guarantee it."
He shrugged. "Oh, I wouldn't know... I haven't put much thought into that part of it."
"Maybe you should."
"Maybe…" He reached over and pointed at a gold smudge on the paper next to the sketch of himself. "Okay, see that?"
"Yeah. Is that supposed to be there?"
"Yep. The ice walls sometimes show other people, too, but all I saw was a blur. It's my one clue to whoever my yin is supposed to be. She's got really bright blonde hair– just like yours, actually." He shrugged. "I don't know how common that color of hair is here, but either way it narrows it down."
"It's not that common," she noted. "I haven't met many other people with the same color. Most people here are brunette."
"Then it's even easier."
The conversation fell quiet, and a familiar anxiety crept back into his mind. His mind spun tales of the possibilities, some of which he dared not even think... but he was snapped from his thoughts when he felt Vania's hand on his arm. "Cole? Are you okay?"
He laughed humorlessly and nodded, shaking himself. "Uh, yeah. Sorry. I'm just– it's a lot to think about."
"I can imagine." She smiled compassionately. "I know you haven't really liked the idea of a relationship– just about everyone knows that. It must be pretty hard, knowing in the future you've got that, despite how much you don't want it yet."
He nodded. "Yeah, uh, you hit the nail on the head." He brushed his hair back anxiously. "I don't do relationships; never have, actually. Now the creator of entire realms has given me cosmic spoilers and told me I'm marrying someone from another country. It's hard to process."
"I'd bet it is." She nodded along with his story. "Having your future set for you before you get to it isn't fun."
"You must know about that, right?"
She let her hand rest on his arm comfortingly. "I do. I didn't really ever get told I could be anything but the queen in the future. It made some things easier, but others harder." She laughed quietly. "I can't imagine what it must be like to be told that, but about whoever you're going to end up marrying."
"Yeah, that's it. I don't know what to do, if I'm honest."
"Well, you could do a couple things." She shrugged, letting go of his arm.
"What do you mean?" He leaned in, listening intently.
Vania giggled at his blatant interest, and then began counting on her fingers. "One: you ignore it. Not the best idea, in my opinion, but it would work for a little bit. The future comes to pass whether we want it to or not."
"Yeah, definitely can't just expect it not to happen. Already tried that." He smiled.
"Yeah, exactly." She smiled back. "Two: you wait. You can let it happen in its own due time and do other things now, instead. Instead of pushing it and trying to find her, you can let her find you."
"But that'd leave it hanging over my head," he dismissed. "That's happened for long enough already, too."
"I figured you'd say that." She laughed quietly. "Three: you start looking for her now with what you know. She's got to be a noble or royal, and since she's blonde, you've got plenty of clues." She shrugged absently. "Of course, you could be wrong about part of it, and get mixed up, but you could try at least."
He nodded, thinking it over. Would it be worth it to look for her? Of course, there was always the possibility that he, Jay and Nya had been wrong. What if he was wrong? Or… what if she was right under his nose? What if they were right?
He sighed. "I guess I should figure out who it is, but I'm starting to wonder if I'm right about what I actually saw."
"Well…" She paused. "You drew it while looking at it, didn't you?"
"I did." He shook his head. "I just– my mind's playing tricks on me. I kind of wish I could see it again, but a third visit, and going alone at that, doesn't sound like much fun."
She hummed. "You have a point… I must admit, I'm extremely curious. It sounds fascinating to see the future!"
"It really is." Would it be worth it to go alone?...
She closed the sketchbook and handed it back. "Well… what if I come with you? We can look at it together and figure out what we're doing to find your yin."
"Really?" He took the book back. "You'd want to see it? I thought you wouldn't want to."
"Sure! It sounds fascinating, and I'd love to know a little more about my future, even though it's already mostly laid out for me. It would be another adventure!" She grinned. "That is, if you don't mind me coming along?"
"No, I'd be happy to bring you!" He grinned back. "That place is a little creepy when you're alone, seeing as it's a tomb."
"Well then, let's make it not creepy!" She got to her feet gracefully, seemingly energetic. "Let me just change and talk to Hailmar, and then I'm ready to go. We can make a day of it."
"Okay. It's a bit of a trip, dress warmly." He pocketed the sketchbook.
"Will do!" she chirped. "Make yourself at home! I'll come find you when I'm ready."
"Okay." Instinctively he wanted to come with her, but he kept himself back. There wasn't a reason to follow her, just that... well, she was the one he came to visit, but it would only be a little wait. There wasn't a need to miss her already.
Having gotten his thoughts in order, Cole stayed in the room and took the book out. As he looked at the sketch, his thoughts swirled in confusion. Who was this blonde royal he was supposed to be marrying? His suspicions fit too perfectly… but was it what he suspected?

Something I wanted to say since I started being in this fandom....
The most people who ever tried to -cancel- me and talked behind my back without face me directly, the 90% have been Americans... And I say it, cuz it's like super wtf how latin americans, europeans or Asiatics fans treat me so nicely and these fellas are like if they wear a Monk attire from the Inquisition.
(not all Americans of course, I have very good friends and wonderful followers who are from America , such sweeties, so I will not generalist as everyone, let's just focus on the meanies, unfortunately , the meanies that I had to deal with are from there )
(I actually know which artists were the ones who dared to say bad stuff about me without even daring to face and know me as a person... I will only give you this ...🙃 Have a wonderful day!)
The worst thing they ever said is that I draw CP Like, when in my fucking life. I have two kids at home! I have raised them, I was a mother figure to them, I am a kids teacher too and I love my kids so much so YOU making such rumor hurts me a lot ... Not all the world is America, so we don't see some stuff like u do.
How they can assume that shit of someone when I had to give my life to two boys. Really these guys taking to serious the freaking fiction it's a pain in the ass... Then... That I pro-incest. NO, MOTHERFUCKERS, u really have a big imagination! Please give me some cuz Sometimes I have a lack of imagination and I can't draw anything!!
That I draw Mug and Cup well I do have a story about it... Forgive cuz my NATIVE LANGUAGE IT'S SPANISH
When the very first trailer of Cuphead came out (the black and white one) and WHEN MY ENGLISH WASN'T STILL GOOD and nobody knows they were siblings at least not me I said, oh two cute cups, I will ship them :$
Like, it's not like I could find more information, I couldn't read it anyway and the spanish information about the game was alway "Two BEST FRIENDS TRYING TO GET THEIR SOULS BACK" so well,Sorry for that I guess??
Then time passed and then the game came out and well tadaaaah they are siblings
And I waS Like "SHIT! WHY ALL THE SUDDEN?! well, I don't think it's a big deal, I still have my headcanons where they aren't siblings at all and I always drew them As adults (THEY ARE KIDULTS BY THE WAY),well not big deal after all .....THEY ARE TWO CUISINE UTENSILS AND NOT HUMANS AND NOT REAL PEOPLE SO..."
But UUUUF NOOOH how dare uuu ,Carito, you are the worst person of the world , let's try to cancel u so you will learn to not draw two utensils kissing cuz they come from the same ceramic oven :)))
If you are gonna give me the excuse that fiction alterate reality or something of that style.... Well, in that case I will try to cancel EVERYONE WHO DRAW ASSASSINATION, MAFIOUS STUFF, CHILD VIOLENCE, DRUGS, AND ALL THE BAD STUFF OF THE MOTHER FUCKER WORLD, and cuz I unfortunately been witness of all of it ... I saw two murders in my life that was about drug dealing, narcos and I sadly saw child abuse to the point of super strong violence.... in my family there’s stories of violations between familiars, so sad.
-But one thing isn't that bad than the other >:U- (a real excuse that I got)
.... ARE YOU SERIOUS?! don't try to put a parameter to height if something is less bad or viceversa, THAT is stupid and hypocrite. Things are bad and POINT. BUT
I'm not going to cancel someone who decide to get into that MATURE THEMES to tell a story!
Because if you are mature enough to make a big difference between reality and fiction then you will enjoy the story, you will understand the concept of the story, why the artist decided to choose these themes for their story, etc...
That's why Something called MATURE ADVERTISEMENT exist.... It's a part of text were the artist tell you that they will talk about themes that might trigger you so...
If you choose to watch it, well it's your decision BUT DON'T TRY TO COMPLAIN IF THE ARTIST WARNED YOU AT VERY FIRST. People Sometimes doesn't read if there's not a damn colorful image there! People just pay attention to certain stuff if looks cute.
I think that trying to eliminate these kind of themes to make everything more -pink and healthy- it is unhealthy.... These themes exist in the end, storytelling exist for a reason.
If you have a boundary, it's super fine. I do have my boundaries too and I do avoid things that doesn't make me feel happy at all but that doesn't give me the power of destroy a person cuz -their content doesn't make me happy-. You aren't a hero... You are just a bully.
and if you are gonna -try- then at least come to say it in my face!! Always behind the stage cuz they always been to coward to come to me and talk! COWARDS!. YOU ARE COWARDS!
THEY SAID LIES ABOUT ME, AND some of them destroyed some friendships that I had or make people try to avoid me to -take care of their reputation cuz if I talk to Carito that will make -friends- think the worst of me-
Well, if your friends push you to not talk to someone cuz very silly stuff, what kind of friends you have :/ are we at elementary school or something?
But to be honest they weren't really my friends cuz they doesn't really cared about my feelings enough so whatever. But yeah..... Angery but they never were able to cancel me for real.....
cuz not for being sassy or shit, But I think I showed who really I am and I believe people likes me. I don't need to pretend shit or stop drawing or change my stories at all. I do what I want and cuz obviously I'm not hurting no one, then people get closer to me.
I like them too and I will continue drawing cuz that's my fucking career, motherfuckers. I draw to pay my debts so, don't tease.
I hope them to show that interest of cancel stuff in real life for people who really need it! The world is outside the screen, and we are REALLY full of bad people outside so... I think you should turn off your computer for once... pinchis morros mensos
And if you ever felt trigerred cuz I ever say hola to you just cuz someone told you a -rumor- about me .. well, you are really manipulable. You should give yourself the opportunity to speak to someone and know them first instead of -take care of your reputation- that's bullshit , it's hypocrite and maybe it was the best cuz I don't need people to give me false smiles and turns around to say shit.
If I EVER did something unforgivable well... Let me see it ._. I can't say sorry if I don't know what the hell are you talking about
I had this inside my heart that really hurted me for so long , sorry for the vent and I'm truly thankful that you follow me cuz you like my art and me as a person.
I'm truly grateful of all my friends too! Thank you for being there for me

Thoughts journal Ninjago season 13!!! 🤩🤩 (3/4)
I am enjoying the season A LOT. The reveal has been thrown already, everything seems to be leading towards something special about Rock Mom and I couldn't hope for something better!! I know Lou will be back so I guess a flashback?... I'M SO EXCITED 💕💕
Alright, let's start!!
DUNGEON PARTY!
Side note, we're past the season and no Nexo Knights reference. Me sad, but me not quitting like ninja!! 💪💪
Korgran of METALONIA?!?! WHERE KARLOF COMES FROM!!! Oh you just love to feed me with good throwbacks, now do you Ninjago crew 😍
Plundar the thief, yeah, the attire gives it away although it is nice. And Fungus... huh... well that explains the mushrooms on the hat I guess 😅
Yep, there we go, a party of adventurers, the DnD situation promised 👈👈 He said loot, I saw a 20 faced dice, nice nice
In these recent seasons adventurers just won't like to do adventures for one reason or another, first uncle Powers, now these guys? I mean Ninjago is in danger every freaking time and you risk your life at every step and there's a new formidable villain every like five seconds but... huh... what was my point again?
THE ANIME STYLE IS BACK 😂😂 Oh boy I can tell we're in for a train to crazy town
I'm thinking this dude looks a lot like He-Man... of course he does, the HECK, am I noticing this just now? 😑
I do agree with mister Korgran's father reluctance about talking like that (I saw too many anime characters like that 😂), but Karlof uses the third person too. Either it's common in Metalonia, or there's a general lack of education there 😅 (I LOVE METAL BOY I MISS HIM 🖤🖤)
Talking axe that doesn't talk, nice 😂
Okay... okay, I need a moment
Tumblr media
This is too cute. I know her head is a bit too big but LOOK AT THEM 💛🤍🤍 Has Chompy never grown?... wait he did got big that one time... okay... okay, never mind
Well that's a pretty nice party, you got your barbarian, your magic user and your rogue. Kinda misses a healer but still... tomorrow I'm doing a DnD session with my friends and I wanna sound like I know stuff 😂
I just noticed that I haven't seen hidden trap doors like that since Chen, the ABC of villains right there my friends 👆
So the King didn't become evil just because of the skull, he actually wished to obtain it and use the dark power. I get that he wants to defend the city but he is basically remorceless about everything else, so he is guilty. Also DRAGON ABUSER 😡
Poor Vania, but she overcame her Skylor situation very quickly. Proud 💛
There we go with the encouragement, you go Rocky!! We have a crazy Skull dude to turn into dust!! 👿👿
Wait, a promise he made a long time ago? Rock mom?
DUNGEON CRAWL!
ROCK MOM!!! YAAAASSS!!! FINALLY SHE'S HERE!!! 🖤🖤🖤
Oh holy FSM, my heart 💔
Tumblr media
MY HEART HURTS SO MUCH. Cole as a kid, Lou is back, Rock Mom IS SICK AND WILL DIE, all the drawings, the picture of them together 😭😭
I cannot, freaking, this kid doesn't want his mom to be sick and he's gotten into troubles at school and she wants him to fight and be strong and right and SHE HAS HIS SAME EYEBROWS 😢😢😢😢😢😢
This scene was really heartbreaking, such a genuine situation with a kid that wants her mom to be fine and proud of him 🖤
Just looked at her VA and it's Erin Matthews 🤩 So first I'm counting it as a Nexo Knights reference just because MACY AND ROBIN ❤🖤❤🖤 Second, wasn't "the mom" going to be voiced by Jillian? Is it... is it Maya? Is she coming back? MAYBE NEXT SEASON??? NYA SEASON?!?!? 🤯🤯
Oh, we're moving on? So... so there's still the stuff about Rock Mom's past to uncover, still unsure if she was the one of the blades for the two tribes
PLUNDAR WE DO NOT DISRESPECT COLE INTO THIS HOUSE VANIA MY GIRL YOU ARE SPEAKING FOR ME TOO 💪💪
The connection between Cole and his mom is the earth itself, I'm loving this concept so much. It's true that he never found himself this deep into his element before, the Caves of Despair were mines but never this deep. This really is rock bottom... HECK YEAH
Well Cole...
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Welcome to the colored eyes because of elemental power ninja team!! 💚❤🧡 (without counting the forbidden scroll moments) I LOVE WHEN IT HAPPENS!!! I'M GETTING SO PROUD AND EMOTIONAL!!! I'M PROUDOTIONAL!!! 🤯
Aww, Cole saving his son sensei, very nice. They did save each other a lot 🤷‍♀️
This place reminds me a lot of the Fire Temple where Kai got himself into trouble in season 1 but then saved Lloyd, one of my favorite and most memorable episode of the show... I'M TOO NOSTALGIC RIGHT NOW LET'S MOVE ON
NEVER MIND COLE IS TAKING CHARGE LIKE OLD TIMES HE IS FINALLY THE LEADER AGAIN I'M GONNA CRY ROCKY I'M SO HAPPY YOU DESERVE THIS 🖤
Wu's spinjitzu!! Always nice to see it 😊 And yes Adam is a good boy, and for my arachnophobia is a little freaky saying it 😅
Ah, good Plundar, Cole needs all the appreciation of the world because HE IS SUCH A GOOD PERSON AND AMAZING WARRIOR AND I LOVE HIM AAAAAA
This is probably my favorite episode for now, got Rock Mom, got elemental powers, got a lot of Cole in all of his glory: the leader with a clear smart mind able to lead even strangers, with big heart for what's important 👏👏
I feel like this season is giving him glory, I'm curious about how it will end!!
GRIEF-BRINGER
Okay I know it's the name of the dragon... and it gets me a little antsy 😅
Back to the munce! Still doing as good as ever I see! 😅 And lol, you can't blame Nya for not being nice Jay! Although she is kinda best friends with Ronin who double crossed her multiple times... okay, I see your reasoning Bluebell
There we go, Nya making them listen. I honestly could have seen her just grabbing one of them and make them fly through the the room, still cool though 😎
Back to the geckles! Also doing as good as ever! 😅 These little purple guys are so dang cute, seeing my flame babe trying to lead is so PRECIOUS, and even more PRECIOUS is Zane giving him support... and a rock in the face 🤍🤍
Gotta say
Tumblr media
I'm more and more fascinated by their culture 😂😂
Aww little Gleck, everything had started with him after all... wait... HER NAME IS LILLY?!?! ROCK MOM HAS A NAME!!! AND SHE IS GILLIE/MILLIE!!! I KNEW IT!!! 🤩🤩
I think I saw the name somewhere, didn't think it was actually her. I always headcanoned her as Gaia, but Lilly is a very sweet name too 💕
It is pretty nice that even though we as viewers didn't know what happened to Lilly, the ninja knew. It's obvious, they've known each other for so long, but still. It feels nice to see this 😊
Oh-oh, Skull dude is up to something... and he said the title 👈👈
Zane keeps being the sweetest thing ever created, le cute dude 🤍🤍 Never thought I'd see Tin Can and Hothead discussing about lies while two slugs race each other...
I don't know if it's the new animation but the armored suits look CRAZY GOOD, the metal and the details are awesome!! I approve the suits of this season 👍
Pff, they are talking down his sister, if he knew they would be literally toasted 🔥
Tumblr media
HUG HUG BEAUTIFUL LEGO HUG!!! And she lifts him up, omg the Smith siblings are back and they are so CUTE 😍
Yep, only he can talk down his sister... and possibly be annihilated right after 😅
Oh, the dragon that almost destroyed the two tribes... OH THE DRAGON THAT ALMOST DESTROYED THE TWO TRIBES!!! 😱😱
NO GUYS DON'T LEAVE LLOYD AND ZANE BEHIND, THEY ARE THE MOST PRONE TO SACRIFICE THEMSELVES 😭😱😭😱😭😱
The cringe Kai, the cringe never leaves you alone you beautiful idiot ❤
I cannot believe the animators managed to make Lloyd's LEGO hair swoosh, I must applaude them 👏👏👏 Also POOR BABY ON THE GROUND GIVE HIM A VACATION FOR CRYING OUT LOUD
Well aren't things getting even more complicated 😅 Where is Cole? We need season superstar pronto!
MASTERS NEVER QUIT
Awww, major throwback to the show's most famous motto right in the title! NINJA NEVER QUIT!!! LET'S GO THEN!!! 🤩
The upply team! With the lava beast back... I could easily make comment about how it could be a representation of Cole's feelings since it's LAVA with EARTH and FIRE, and he is running from them... I'M JUST RAMBLING MOVING ON 🖤❤🖤❤
Cole misses the Caves of Despair maybe, he wants to have a round with the carts like in Possession 😂 Was that why he knew it was going to work eventually? That would be histerical, especially since back then they all almost fell into the lava 😅😅
The Heart of the Mountain? Secret temple of the masters of Earth? Possibly hidden in Shintaro? Spinjitzu Burst? Wu, let me ask you this... just in case... is there... perhaps...
IS THERE SOMETHING YOU SHOULD'VE TOLD US??? 😡😡
He is definitely and officially old, only reason why he keeps forgetting to warn people about stuff 😑 I mean, it's not major like with Morro or Aspheera, I guess it's an improvement?... kinda?
So you learn spinjitzu burst if you're surrounded by your element, that sounds pretty awesome! I wonder how it could be with all the others, this can open up kinda like a quest for the true potential but with different places and lots of OP powers and I'M INTO IT 🤩🤩🤩
Okay season, I get it
Tumblr media
YOU WANNA MAKE ME CRY 😭😭 I love this aztec vibe, so cool and appropriate she looks STUN 🖤
I didn't expect this much introspection about Cole, I thought it was going to be kinda last minute like with Jay in Prime Empire. I'm so thankful it's not like that, freaking yes. YES. GO COLE BURST OUT!!
... okay, take your time sweetie, no rush. The other ninja are just going to be fried but eh, happens all the time 🤷‍♀️
VANIA MAH GIRL 💕 I understand Wu, I mean the guys kinda learned all they needed already back when they started to train Lloyd. Ever since then, they had been not master and students, but just family. And you always need family, no matter how far you go 🖤
Awwww, Wu! You got your own development too! 👍 So nice to hear "ninja never quit" again, can't be too sure but it's been a while 😍
Let's hope the guys are doing fine resisting while Team Cole arrives 😎😎
