There hasn’t been a dedicated physical media chain store since Blockbuster shut down. Walmart will carry a few of the most popular movies in a small section by their electronics department. Your local library may carry some more obscure and less popular shows or movies, but they’re limited to buying what they can and when they have the budget and demand for it. Other than that? Good fucking luck getting anything on DVD or Blu Ray. Five years ago I could buy whole seasons of a Disney produced television show in box sets. Now? They stopped making those box sets to put pressure on people to subscribe to their streaming service. Other film and television studios are doing the same - even AAA video games are going the way of ‘buy online, season pass, etc.’ which is why GameStop is in the same downward spiral Blockbuster was in a decade or two ago.
Don’t get me started on how hard it is to get ANYTHING on a physical media format outside of the US and UK.
People against piracy fail to realize that no, I can’t just ‘buy it.’ They stopped making DVDs and Blu-Rays. They’re barely offering digital copies for download. I am not spending money I could use for food or bills to pay for a subscription service just so I can always have access to a beloved piece of media. Especially not when the service will remove media on a whim without concern for how the loss of access to that piece will make its artistic conservation nigh impossible.
For example, I recently learned that Disney+ had an original film called Crater. It’s scifi, family friendly, and seems cool - I would love to buy it as a holiday gift for my little brother! But: it’s exclusive to D+ and THEY REMOVED IT LITERALLY MONTHS AFTER ITS RELEASE.
The ONLY way I can directly access this film is through piracy. The ONLY available ‘copies’ of this film are hosted on piracy websites. Disney will NEVER release it in theaters, or as something to buy, and it may NEVER return to the streaming service. It will be LOST because we aren’t allowed to purchase it for personal viewing. If I can’t pay to own it, I won’t pay for the privilege of losing it when corporate decides to put it in a vault.
So yes, I’m going to pirate and support piracy.

A COLLECTION OF TUMBLR PROFILE COVER PHOTOS -- IT ALL BEGINS RIGHT HERE.
PIC(S) INFO: Spotlight on a handful of mostly horizontal illustrations that I've used as Tumblr cover photos in the month of June -- everything from pizza, flamingos, and the ladies of G.I. Joe...to killer klowns, cult Japanese metal punk, and Marvel's Elder Gods. Somethimg for everyone!
Anyway, I'm thinking of turning these old pics into a series of sorts, for reasons of posterity, I guess, and it beats just tossing these out forever instead of documenting them, if you will, over a website like Tumblr. The journey begins here, people!

Metallica - Enter Sandman 1991
"Enter Sandman" is a song by American heavy metal band Metallica. It is the opening track and lead single from their self-titled fifth album, released in 1991. It evolved from a guitar riff that guitarist Kirk Hammett wrote, after being inspired by Soundgarden's 1989 album Louder Than Love. The title is a reference to the Sandman, a character from Western folklore who makes children sleep.
The single was released on July 29, 1991, two weeks before the release of Metallica. The album debuted at number 1 on the Billboard 200 in the US and nine other countries, and sold over 22 million copies worldwide, allowing "Enter Sandman" to become "one of the most recognizable songs of all time in rock". The single peaked at number 16 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart and at number 5 on the UK Singles Chart. In addition to the nominations received by the album as a whole, the song was nominated for Best Rock Song at the 34th Grammy Awards in 1992. It was voted Song of the Year in Metal Edge's 1991 Readers Choice Awards. The music video won Best Hard Rock Video at the 1992 MTV Video Music Awards and was nominated for Best Cinematography and Best Editing.
Motörhead covered "Enter Sandman" in 1998, and received a nomination for the Grammy Award for Best Metal Performance at the 42nd Annual Grammy Awards. "Enter Sandman" is used in the polka melody "Polka Your Eyes Out" for "Weird Al" Yankovic's 1992 album Off the Deep End. The song was also sampled by British electronic duo Utah Saints and American rapper Chuck D on their track "Power to the Beats". It was covered by Weezer as part of The Metallica Blacklist tribute album. It was also used by NASA mission control CAPCOM B. Alvin Drew to wake up space shuttle astronauts aboard STS-123. The song was selected for Mission Specialist Robert L. Behnken by his fiancé.
"Enter Sandman" received a total of 81,1% yes votes!

What is your favorite bit of bsd lore?
Actual lore: the fact that the "slug" and "mackerel" nicknames we have for Dazai and Chuuya are because of irl Dazai-sensei and Nakahara-sensei actually calling each other that.
Something that might not get brought up at all but I think would be funny is. Irl Natsume-sensei studied in the UK in about 1900. And he hated it so much that the condition that Capcom was given to include Natsume in the Ace Attorney games that took place around 1900 was to make sure they included how much he hated being in the UK. So I want, when they finally bring the Order of the Clocktower into play after Fyodor is taken care of. For Natsume to just be a bit snippy when the thought of the UK is brought up.

So I've been playing The Great Ace Attorney, which is one of the newer games by Capcom that features the appearance of The Great Detective, Sherlock Holmes. (Annoyingly named Herlock Sholmes since this game came out before he was fully copyright free.) And I was trying to figure out what year the game took place in. I heard one character, Mael Strongheart, mention the "Great Exhibition", and immediately it hit me that he was talking about the World's Fair. But, you see, the World's Fair was only hosted in London twice. 1851, and 1862. The first Sherlock Holmes story, A Study In Scarlet, was published in 1887. "Oh, well. Guess they shifted one forward or one back." I figured. Except, hold on. Mael Stronghart mentions that he wants to make "Paris' World's Fair look like a toy shop." So, the World's Fair isn't new, and it's been hosted in France before? The first time France hosted the World's Fair was in 1855, and was the only other host before the UK's last fair. And the timing would still be mis-labeled. Except. Except.
On the Wikipedia page, I went searching for the World's Fair which presented the Eiffel Tower, as I was wondering if it would be this one. The Eiffel Tower was actually presented in 1889. Okay, coolio. Technically after the first Holmes story, but, this Exhibition was hosted in Paris, France. Not London, England. But there's another exception. In the 1889 World's Fair, France had the French Revolution on their minds. And so they themed the Fair around Revolution and Anti-Monarchy ideals. And so, quite a few countries chose to boycott the exhibition instead. And would you be surprised, that one of the groups on that list was the United Kingdom? This would line up quite perfectly with the events of the game. In 1887, Sherlock Holmes comes into existence with the publication of A Study In Scarlet, which in the canon of The Great Ace Attorney, is the first publication of his adventures. In 1889, Paris, France hosts the World's Faire, titled the Exposition Universelle.
The United Kingdom, a monarchy, boycotts this exhibition because it is anti-monarchy. That year or later, they decide, in TGAA, to host their own exhibition, to outshine the exhibition in which Paris dominated with their presentation of the Eiffel Tower, a feat of modern architecture.
Because Holmes is a prominent character in the game, he talks at times about the very stories he appears in, and references them as "Short stories". The very first short story to feature Holmes was A Scandal in Bohemia, published 1891. And within the events of the games, there are cases which strongly resemble: The Red-Headed League,
The Man with the Twisted Lip,
The Adventure of the Speckled Band,
and hints to a few others. The Red-Headed League is the earliest of these to occur, and being published in 1891, makes 1891 the latest possible year the events of TGAA could have occurred. Therefore!
I put it to you, dear reader, That the events of The Great Ace Attorney, published by Capcom Begin and occur throughout the year of 1891! And I probably could've avoided ALL of the World's Fair talk, but WHERE is the fun in that??

Note
these were mostly thought of in the moment from random things i’ve noticed while replaying/playing thru the games so!! i’m nawt sure if you’re in some of these media pieces but i wanted to share em with you anyways ^^.
HSR
dan heng does things with his hands a lot. putting it on his hip, messing with his fingers. as someone who wears a wrist brace i stand behind the thought of him messing around with his, too. like oh wow this thing i need to help support a part of my body, it’s important, i NEED to mess with it in every way i can to distract myself from the environment around me.
he is also a DORK. that seal event solidified it completely for me idc 🙅🏽‍♀️🙅🏽‍♀️🙅🏽‍♀️ there was also a lil text bubble above him about his jokes within the star rail world event, and i can HEAR the awkward silence from when he does crack one. the jokes are probably so stupid, he’s the type of person to smile at his own jokes.
sunday stays in trailblazers room/space because of lack of space, and he has seen  the most atrocious things. trailblazer trying to breathe underwater in their bath, trailblazer saying “oh kafka, we’re really in it now” whilst sobbing against her wanted poster, listening to robin’s music together only for them to try and reach robin’s high notes only for BAD voice cracks to happen.
march has low blood sugar!! it’s also why she’s prone to each a lot of sweets at once to help raise it. she has a “secret” stash of juice boxes.
march is himeko’s master taste tester when i comes to cooking and when she’s unavailable dan hang becomes the next unfortunate target (i think that’s been confirmed thru the home event??)
MARAUDERS/HP
james’ is mixed 🙂‍↕️ i hc his dad as romani & his mom as caucasian personally. i rly see snape as wasian (totally not projecting again 👎🏽👎🏽👎🏽). i think i have said this before but i’m gonna add more to it; remus is a major uk mix (majorly welsh) and his accent skips around a LOT. there are a lot of different pronunciations in his sentences (can PERSONALLY attest to this).
lily used to straighten her hair a lot because it was a bit hard to control with the frizz which caused it to be wild. she later allowed it to just be natural because she got more comfortable with it.
sirius used to use horoscopes for relationships, but after it showed a bump with a friend (no specific) he stopped using them completely.
ron has genuinely thought that harry was into hermoine more than his own sister…..
OTHERS
sadako yamamura (rip queen) is a troll. she laughs at the weirdest times as well, and often scrutinizes you so much that you think she was staring into your soul.
ellie williams snorts more than she actually laughs, it’s more of a go-to because she had to be more uptight when she was younger. she would also be the kind of person who sorts their skittles (no shade i do that at my almost ancient age).
if re2 (remake) leon kennedy was in that generation of when buzzfeed quizzes were popular he would take them religiously.
ada wong is more of a pants person than a dress/skirt person actually canon im capcom, hashtag give leon dresses instead.
mark grayson (who i’ve been SAYING was fine but no one got the hype until s3 </333 ) is so stupid that he’s smart unlike the popular saying. that one artpiece w/ him in the yale shirt is so FUNNY like honey he wouldn't make it to yale in his dreams 😭😭😭
OHKA HCS OHKA HCS. Y'ALL IVE BEEN DREAMING ABOUT THIS MOMENT!
THE DANHENG ONE. I CANT HELP BUT AGREE TO EVERY SINGLE ONE. ESPECIALLY THE HANDS ONE, atp he just unconsciously does it (it's the nervous energy in him, like ik he's cool and collected half of the time but when things start getting a bit too much, one of his tells is definitely keeping his hands busy, like his face would be completely stoic then you'd see his hands folding a piece of paper to oblivion) + DORK DANHENG. OHKA YOU'RE SO RIGHT WITH THAT 😭 I'm sorry y'all you can't convince me that he's not a total forking loser, he WOULD gush about cute things inside his mind, he WOULD spend hours watching the star wars saga because he can + I'D LAUGH AT HIS JOKES. ME. I WILL. IF NO ONE GETS IT I WILL. IDCIDC.
SUNDAY 😭😭😭 him and the trailblazer are one of my favourite duos ever TT they're very calm (but secretly chaotic) x chaotic. The robin one made me cackle BWHABWHAH. They'd spend the night talking about the most stupidest of shi— "do you think we can make tree umbrellas-" "trailblazer wtfu-"
OK MARCH. MARCH? I DID NOT EXPECT THAT BUT HOLY CARP I RESONATE WITH IT? like the march HC of the season. Low blood sugar March TT OKOK BUT IMAGINE THE EXPRESS PEOPLE ALSO CARRYING LITTLE BITS OF CHOCOLATE BARS OR CANDIES FOR HER JUST INCASE TTT? this is adorable I love her sm, I'd carry around a whole ahh fridge for her + her being himekos taste tester PFTTT AND DANHENG BEING THE NEXT ONE LMFAO.
Me whenever James Potters name gets mentioned: SHSJDHSGDJSHSKS. he's definitely 100% mixed in my mind sorry but I'm not having some White British boy, give me that diversity /pos! ROMANI. I AGREE SO MUCH WITH THAT HOLY CARP. YES. PLS KEEP COOKING OHKA. pft snape as wasian, yeah I can see it LOLOLOLOL. RREEEEEMUUUSSS. YES. Banger hc, it's canon actually TT his pronunciations being different whenever it reaches a certain word and the marauders teasing him affectionately lmfao. Sirius would 100% get Remus to teach him all the different accents around Europe and such. LILY EVANS MENTIONED OMGOFNGOGMGOG, PEOPLE WHO HC LILY W/ CURLY HAIR. YOU GET ME FR. I LOVE THIS HC SM. STOP SHE'D ASK SIRIUS FOR HAIR ADVICE OR MARY FOR HAIR ADVICE. lmfao the Sirius hc is just a callout towards me because I'm such a sucker for all those horoscope bs TT, Sirius I get you, I get you so much. Mercury is in retrograde or sum shit like that. Actually I can't blame Ron 😭 Harry and Hermione really do have that kind of friendship that makes you question if they actually want each other or what—
Personally I relate because I also have a bad timing when I laugh (a menace to society) + ELLIE SNORTING AND ARRANGING HER SKITTLES LFMAOOO, ADHD BEHAVIOR DHSKDJKFJE + actually from the very limited knowledge I have of resident evil (I watched the raccoon city movie and like one of my former friends yappee about it to me) yes I can confirm, Ada Wong is a girl boss, Leon is a guy failure. Dresses for leon we scream in unison. Mark Grayson (after a quick Google search) holy heck he's fine— I'm hearing you out ohka 😭 from vibes alone I can definitely understand your point + I'm sorry but he gives useless ray of sunshine vibes and stupid orange cat vibes /AFFECTIONATE
AAAAA all your hcs are such a delight to receive and pick apart. Literally pls keep them coming because I'm DEPRIVED OF DANHENG AND MARAUDERS CONTENT + ALSO JJK (I'm not super into it but bro I love Megumi so much it's actually suffocating.) as always, such a pleasure user starcharmed 🙂‍↕️🙂‍↕️

A list of of the Xbox 360 DLC still up to buy in the store! Along with all delisted DLC we are aware of.
With just over a week list we've put together a quick list of every game where the DLC is still up to buy in the UK store. They may be delisted in your region however. This list was made using the all search list, which is still up at present expect it to disappear on the 29th of July.
Link here: https://marketplace.xbox.com/en-GB/Games/All?SortBy=Title&PageSize=90
Change the letters GB to the letters used for your region of the website North America is US for example.
All the games listed have at least one of their DLCs still up in the store, some DLC content may be delisted already and a few still show in the store and can't be purchased as we found out with the Map Pack for Ninety-Nine Nights II yesterday when we tried to buy it.
This is a full list and includes all games, some have the DLC on Xbox One / Series others do not. Some games like N+ and Lost Planet 2 have DLC on Xbox 360, but not in the Xbox One Store.
Some games like Fallout 2 and Star Wars The Force Unleashed have complete version. Others like Mass Effect, Borderlands 2 and Two Worlds have version with some of the DLC on disc, but not all.
I've tried to list free DLC and Compatibility Pack for games, but as I've done this in a hurry I haven't labeled them all. Hopefully I didn't miss any from the official marketplace webaite, but let me know if I did.
I've tried to list all games with their full name, but the shop's A-Z has some odd listings, something they list them by the word "the" but not others. Some games are just initials, some use the full name like Tony Clancy's etc.. others skip the author name and just use Splinter Cell.
Example Might & Magic: Clash of Heroes turns up in the C listing.
I've included a very rough list of delisted or unobtainable DLC at the bottom which is a work in progress. At some point in the future, I might try and turn this into a full list of games with DLCs.

Sega Saturn - SEGA AGES Volume 13 I Love Mickey Mouse: Fushigi no Oshiro Daibouken/I Love Donald Duck: Gurujia Ou no Hihou (Castle of Illusion starring Mickey Mouse/Quack Shot starring Donald Duck)
Title: SEGA AGES Volume 13 I Love Mickey Mouse: Fushigi no Oshiro Daibouken/I Love Donald Duck: Gurujia Ou no Hihou / SEGA AGES アイラブ ミッキーマウス ふしぎのお城 大冒険 / アイラブ ドナルドダック グルジア王の秘宝
Developer/Publisher: Sega CS1
Release date: 15 October 1998
Catalogue No.: GS-9179
Genre: Compilation of 2 Action Platformers
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Two classics from the Mega Drive come to the Saturn as part of the Saturn Sega Ages collection (this time as the Final Volume).
Castle of Illusion starring Mickey Mouse was actually one of my first ever Mega Drive import games! I remember thinking that the cover art was miles beyond that of US or UK Mega Drive games. It was from this point that I fell in love with Japanese Mega Drive box art! Anyway, enough about that. Let’s talk about the two classics on this disc.
Castle of Illusion starring Mickey Mouse was Sega’s first attempt at bringing the Disney license to the Mega Drive. Back then in 1990, this game looked amazing, far better than anything else available on any system at the time. However, this all changed once the Capcom Super Famicom Mickey Mouse game came around. Still, this title remains a classic and even now the visuals still look pretty decent. The sweet level particularly looks gorgeous. I’m also happy to say that the playability while simple has aged gracefully. Some older games are now a chore to play due to bad collision detection or just down right sluggish controls. Castle of Illusion on the other hand still feels tight and responsive like it did all those years ago. Killing enemies is done by the good old tried and tested method of jumping onto their head or in Mickey’s case, sitting on their head. Or if you collect enough apples you can throw them at the enemies instead.
Levels are pretty decent in size and varied enough to keep you interested until the end. The game is a little easy but what do you expect from a Disney-licensed game? A classic platformer from yesteryear that still holds its head up high.
Quack Shot starring Donald Duck was the 2nd Disney release for the Mega Drive and what better way to follow up a Mickey game than with a Donald Duck one. Again we get another platformer but this time we’ve also got some basic RPG-like elements thrown in. Graphically this is even better than Castle of Illusion thanks to the good use of colour and top-quality artwork. The basic idea of the game is to travel around the world collecting pieces of a map to find the lost treasure. Your quest takes you to such locations as Transylvania, Mexico, the US, and even a pirate ship! Donald has many obstacles that lie in his path that can only be removed by using the correct weapon or item. This is where the RPG element comes in. You see, you must complete one section before moving on to the next only to find that you need a certain item so off you go back to a previously visited area that now has an extra section opened up because you have previously collected something from another area that will allow you to progress on this area you have just visited. Understand? No? that’s ok, neither do I.

The US Dreamcast launch ads - use of the finality of the 09.09.99 date, millenium apocalypse fears, AI scares, Bladerunner-esque techno-Orientalism - very cool, very slick, and ultimately also completely inappropriate. This is the samba de amigo console, the space channel 5 console, the arcade ports of vampire saviour and capcom vs snk console, it is not going to spawn an AI revolution.
And in the UK? Cool blue. Pal blue best colour. Focus on the ahead-of-its-time online competitive play features (unavailable to most members of the public due to shit modem speeds at the time): "This is a console you could be racist to the French on" - perfect prediction of xbox live.

Fin or Bin: Darkwing Duck
Tumblr media
I'll confess- I actually have played this before...
...when I was three years old. You'll forgive me if I decide that doesn't count.
The only real memory I have of the game is exasperating my brother by calling it "Duckling Duck", because that was a word I knew and 'darkwing' is a pretty tough construction for a kid who can't even write yet. I don't remember the cartoon at all- I forget if we just didn't get it in the UK or if it was a bit too dark for me (sensitive).
The videogame version of Duckling Duck is 90% Mega Man, little surprise given it was developed by Capcom, and will be immediately familiar with anyone who has played one of Mr. Man's games. Notably, the difficulty is tuned significantly down in comparison; this was apparently before Disney saw fit to punish renters by mandating their games be as cruel and unfair as possible, after which I'm sure Megaman's difficulty would have been heartily encouraged.
Fin or Bin:
Like Ducktales before it, this is a real rainy-afternoon kind of game (probably why they called it the Disney Afternoon Collection), over with in a couple of hours and easy enough to get through even as a newcomer. Games like these were made to be played through multiple times, but Finishing it once is enough for me; it's a cozy little slice of proof that very old games can still be entirely playable today if the core is good, and Megaman diehards should certainly have a gander. No, wait, that's the wrong kind of bird...

A Windows port was released in Russia in November 2009 and globally via Steam two weeks later.
