Can you rank your siblings on how big of a fashion disaster each of them are?
I HAVE BEEN WAITING FOR THIS ONE
*opens PowerPoint* *mic check* ALRIGHTY FOLKS, HERES THE WORST TO BEST FASHION IN THIS DISASTER FAMILY
Dick. @not-dick-grayson is an absolute disaster. This man is almost 30 years old and cannot dress himself without looking like a 3 year old playing dress up. *COUGH* DISCOWING *COUGH*
Thea. @youngergrayson baby sister, I love you, but you, much like your brother, are a fashion nightmare. You only dress in sweats unless you’re on stage or at interviews, wearing outfits I made.
Dad (aka Bruce). Better than Dick and Thea, but also can only dress like either a homeless man or straight up black suits and there is no in between. Can only dress like a normal person if me or Alfred forces him to.
Tim. Only dresses in sweats or occasionally something normal. However, he cannot dress himself, one of the girls has to pick his outfits.
Kit. @kit-the-nonbinary-wayne I also love you, but like dad, you only dress like a homeless person or like an absolute deity. Unlike dad, you can dress yourself, so you get more points than he or Tim does.
Addison. @addison-wayne18 you only wear leather or leggings and it is simply a travesty. I need to make you a new wardrobe
Kathy. @kathy-kyle better than Addi, you can dress yourself perfectly fine without looking like a 12 year old. But, you do dress like a high schooler who went shopping on your own for the first time.
Steph. Good fashion sense, but dresses like a high school theatre kid. Enough said there.
Damian. Can dress himself perfectly well as a 13 year old boy, but is too formal for a 13 year old boy. But, his fashion sense and his eye for color matching is good, I share my designs with him sometimes and ask for his opinion.
Jason. Leather. So much leather. But, unlike Addi, he actually matches it well. (No offense sis). Also his color coordination is literally perfect.
Duke. Dresses like a normal person. Thank fucking god.
Cass. Normal, but with a step up. Glitter, ribbons, you name it. Her colors, accessories, aesthetic, literally amazing.
Harper. My punk queen. Enough said.
Aunt Kate. Lesbian icon, absolute goddess, stunning, I love her so much. I ask her to model for me sometimes because somehow EVERYTHING LOOKS GOOD ON HER
Me, I’m literally fashion designer

Holy Shit.. it is heartbreaking knowing most people don't know my three main ocs bc I worked on them a lot more a couple years ago.....
Cassidy Harris, Abel Love and Ángel Pérez are all my cowboy characters. Cassidy is a very monotone young man that lives in the city. He lost his family at a young age and was taken in by another family. Who loves him dearly. But he always struggles with the idea of home. He is very to himself and often times will let the world pass by him. But he is no push over. He meets his boyfriend Abel. And their main story will end with them deciding to leave it all behind and live on a small ranch. Just the two of them away from the world. Cassidy is Mexican, his parents moved from Mexico to the States. Cassidy ⬇️

Abel, has always lived on the farm and has a natural calling for it. He has a heart of gold and you would just melt if you met him irl. He is sweet, caring but not a push over. Though, he is not a leader, but he certainly will get things done. And he wishes to have a family and a farm. He loves being in the country and wouldn't have it any other way. Abel is a young black man, he's lived in the states his whole life. Both him and Cass are gay btw. That is very important to their story. Abel ⬇️

Ángel is Abel's childhood best friend. He is an overall goofball that is trying to figure out where he fits in the world. He is a young bi transman. He works as a farm hand and kind of has a thing with the farmer's daughter. He is the absolute best older brother to his three younger sisters. And he will always try to be light hearted and make the most of situations he's given. Ángel is half Mexican, half white. He has lived in the states his whole life. Ángel ⬇️ (attached two bc his face looks wack in the b&w one and whereas the colored wip is still old. It's more recent than that one)

These three are my everything, but ...did you know period pieces are so fcking hard to write for lmfao??? Even when you research a bunch and love the media of that time that you want to reproduce???
My two other ocs are modern.
Julia Cruz is another character I just adore. Her story is set in the early 2000s. She is from a major city, in her early 20s and trying to live out her wild and fun life. Her father expects her to only focus on her college classes, do well and succeed. She knows she will one day, but she wants to be young and experience the world that she knows can be more than the small neighborhood she grew up in. As she meets friends from the club and main areas of the big city she struggles with two sides of herself she doesn't really realizes she has. Her best friend AJ (Angelica Jimenez) represents the comfort and security of home. And why they're so close to one another. They're so safe when they're with one another. Julia is bi. And she's mixed. Half mexican Half white. Yes there is a theme here. AJ is a lesbian and also you guessed it, shes Mexican too! :) Julessss ⬇️

Now Richard....Richard Thomas is well..not a great man. He is in his mid 30's (this may change) (and oh. All my other characters are in their early 20s btw forgot if i mentioned that) and is a very successful businessman. He runs his own business and he's very good at that. He has a young daughter, Emily, and a wife named Kathleen. As work keeps progressing upwards Richard decides to expand and bring his work to another major city. But, his wife and daughter cannot follow. Emily struggles with feeling comfortable at school, and they did not want to pull her from her private school she is currently enrolled in. And Kathy has her own job, in which she cannot get up & abandon it. So Richard goes by himself. And instead of sulking and missing his family. He decides there is fun to be had. So that's what he does. He acts like a rich bachelor and flaunts around his money. Getting any lady he wants, and when he's feeling wild maybe even a man. He meets a guy, and they sort of begin having a relationship.....Richard is mean, serious and stern. He is not a good man, and he is your typical rich white preppy guy. He goes to the golf course and country club on the weekends kinda guy. Richie ⬇️, (actually just started this drawing this week lol)
#just max ramblin'#they all have tags but richie.....but i do not feel like trying to remember them all

What do the JL think of Bette? Specifically Barry, Hal, Clark, Arthur, Ollie, and Diana
I very much love that you included two of my favourite characters here.
Barry:
Bette spent many of her formative years in Gotham, so you can bet your ass that this girl is ACAB
Now, I don’t know if you’ve been called a bastard by a thirteen-year-old in a red dress, but Barry Allen has
Life-altering experience
He spends an hour asking Bruce what he did wrong, why does Bat-Girl hate him? He hasn’t even spoken to her yet what could he have done
And Bruce just... the fun explanation that she hates all cops. Instantly. Oh you’re a CSI that must be fun, it doesn’t matter, it’s already on sight for you
Like, okay, in Gotham? Pretty much every cop is dirty. Gordon, Montoya & Bullock are the only ones that Bette knows aren’t & she still doesn’t really trust them
So she’s not gonna be particularly nice to Barry Allen & Bruce literally has to tell her to behave
(Kathy is very amused by it all)
There’s a moment where Barry thinks she just hates speedsters, but then she & Wally seem to be getting on great. Like, Kid Flash is awesome, cool fast guy. Flash is a cop & therefore she cannot trust him
Bat-Girl: I can respect you as a hero but I do not like you as a person
So, yeah, Barry’s, uh, iffy on her. He’s sure she’s a great hero & she seems nice to the others, but he’d really rather not work with her, even when she’s Flamebird/Hawkfire. Especially when she’s Flamebird/Hawkfire, then she’s got tasers & flamethrowers
Hal:
Very different from how she interacts with Barry
Mainly because she first meets Hal after Kathy’s died & she goes to Coast City as part of her whole ‘run away from her emotions’ thing
She’s always loved the beach & Coast is supposed to be so nice. Plus, they’ve got Green Lantern; they’re not gonna need her to suit up, are they?
And then there’s an incident with Manhunters & like, Hal’s got this handled, no doubt about it, but also, Bette is impulsive & has a massive hero complex & yes she does suit up & help out. She does it because it’s right, because she’s angry, just because
But Hal kinda freaks out? Because she’s a kid and yeah, that might fly in Gotham where Batman can keep an eye on her, but oh god, what if he was fighting Sinestro? That’s low key terrifying to him, he doesn’t wanna put a kid in danger
He’s still good with kids. Like, that’s canon, he’s just good with them. So he & Bette do get along & after he gets over the initial ‘please do not fight mass murdering robots you need adult supervision & idk if I qualify for that’, they do actually spend time together!
Mainly because Hal isn’t too comfortable letting a teenage vigilante who just experienced a massive lost be alone & honestly? He’s right. Like, Kathy has just died & Bette threw herself into an extremely dangerous fight... red flags all around, my dudes
So they do work together while she’s in Coast. She only stays a few weeks before she moves on, but she does kinda like Green Lantern?
And the feeling’s mutual. They don’t really keep in contact but Hal keeps an eye on the news to make sure she’s okay & not, uh, dead
They don’t actually meet face to face until a dumb Justice League party years later & then they discover that Bruce finds Hal annoying... he finds the concept of Bette & Hal even being acquaintances annoying... he’s given them the ultimate weapon. Bruce Wayne goes grey earlier and it’s because Hal & Bette spend an entire night pretending that they went on a massive space adventure, full of danger & peril, solely to drive up his blood pressure
Hal doesn’t look into her identity all that much, but thinks she’s fun. Anyone who annoys Bruce for fun is cool in his book
(And I know this is supposed to focus on his feelings about her but consider: Bette meets the Green Lantern of Coast City & he lets her stay in his shitty rundown apartment. Everything that can go wrong for him seems to, but he’s still there, making jokes and saving people and doing the right thing. His willpower keeps him going, even on the darkest of nights and maybe, just maybe, Bette’s stubbornness picked up a little bit of inspiration for somebody along the way)
(And maybe, maybe, she joins the fight against Parallax and realizes just how far her heroes can fall)
Clark:
Um, well, I absolutely headcanon that Clark gave Bette the name Flamebird. Like, told her the story, made a series of not-so-subtle mentions that she should take up the name...
So, yes, Clark knows Bette
She’s Bruce’s cousin, after all, and he’s his best friend. Of course, their paths would cross, especially with how often Clark seemed to work with Batman & Robin when they first started out
He’s worked with her a lot when she’s Bat-Girl & every single time, Bette is starstruck because oh my god, that’s Superman, she’s talking to Superman, she’s working with Superman
He tells her the legend of Nightwing & Flamebird when she’s a kid & she loves the concept of Flamebird. She’s only twelve at the time, but something about it clicks with her
And when she gives up on being Bat-Girl, but is still determined to be a hero, he suggests Flamebird
(Bette absolutely tears up at this)
They don’t really work together when she gets older, except on big, world ending disasters that require the entire Justice League’s attention, but he still sends her one of Ma Kent’s apple pies for the holidays
Clark’s just the cool uncle from when was younger
She stills freaks out a little every time he talks to her, though
She’s never gonna get over knowing Superman
Arthur:
It took me a while to think about this but, yes, Arthur likes Bette
Mainly because Bette is a friend of La’gaan’s. That’s pretty much how he knows her
He doesn’t even know she’s a part of the Batfamily for years, because she’s always seen with the Titans
So, like, he doesn’t really know her that much, but she’s a good friend to one of his sidekicks & La’gaan’s already made passing mentions to crashing at her & Gar’s place, so. Yeah. She got Aquaman’s seal of approval
Though Arthur is always gonna be entertained by how much teasing Flamebird is allowed to get away with. Most of the League may not be aware of her Special Cousin Privilages, he isn’t either, but it’s absolutely hilarious to see her tear into Batman at random
11/10, good friend to La’gaan, very entertaining. Would be better if she could keep a goldfish alive
Ollie:
Okay, so, Ollie is, like, shown to be nicer to the younger heroes, Kyle excluded because he’s dating his son, so she’s gonna be nice to her. Or, at least, Ollie nice. Hm.
He thinks she’s way too small when she first starts out because even when she’s eleven, Bette still looks like she’s nine, but she’s got two heroes looking out for her & with a kid sidekick of his own, he’s not in a place to judge
Aside from one poor team-up between Green Arrow & Speedy and Batwoman & Bat-Girl, where Ollie & Kathy absolutely butted heads, oh my god, they’d hate each other, he didn’t see much of her. He works in Star, she works in Gotham, when are their paths gonna cross
While she works less with most Leaguers the older she gets, she actually ends up working more with Ollie when she’s older
Mainly ‘cause she’s friends with Roy & Cass may be friends with Connor, but that doesn’t mean she can drive so sometimes she’ll get Bette to bring her to Star
Which is honestly what Ollie knows her most as: Batgirl’s older sister who’ll lend a hand whenever she’s in Star
She’s good with kids, efficient & a little showy, but he really can’t judge that last part. Got Roy & Dinah’s stamp of approval, though, & that goes a long way with him
They never, like, exclusively work together, but she’s good to call on in an emergency
He did do a double take when she called Deathstroke ‘uncle’ though because... well, look, at Flamebird. Now look at Deathstroke. Do you see his confusion? It only grows when Slade lets out the most exasperated sigh, mutters something about how he wishes he could kill her without Addie getting mad, and then Bette sticks her tongue out to him & makes some joke about the shitshow he married into
Well. At least his family will never involve Deathstroke
Diana:
Diana gave Bette the shovel talk
This is when DonnaBette is happening & close to figuring out each other’s identities & probably the biggest hint for Bette is Wonder Woman flying down to tell her that if she breaks Wonder Girl’s heart, she’ll have her to answer to
So. Diana’s first impression of Bette is Flamebird having an anerysm on a rooftop in Gotham because she just realized she’s dating Wonder Girl
The absolute dumbassary of DonnaBette, unparalled
Diana likes Bette, thinks she’s probably a great person, but it is her legal job as Donna’s big sister to make it clear that if anything happens to her baby sister, it means war
They end up meeting later, after Donna & Bette have had their mutual break-up, when Diana is working with Kate & Bette is still unable to form a full sentence. Wonder Woman oh my god, oh my god, her brain doesn’t work that’s actual literal Wonder Woman oh my go-
Bruce did later let it slip that after the Maxwell Lord incident, Bette was 100% on Wonder Woman’s side, which she honestly didn’t expect, but eh. Bette’s not as big on the whole no killing as her cousin
Diana mainly knows Bette in the capacity of her being Donna’s girlfriend
Definitely prefers her to some of Donna’s other partners ie Terry because I don’t csre what anyone says, that relationship was trash & I will not pretend that miss Diana Prince was okay with her nineteen-year-old sister dating a divorcee in his thirties that was also her professor

Righteousness is for people who don’t know any better
Everyone knows Neil has an attitude problem, and that he says what he thinks. For example, in the first book when they take Neil to Eden’s:
“Drugs are stupid.“ "Ouch,” Andrew said with a cold smile. “That’s judgmental.” “I’m not going to apologize for thinking you’re being idiotic.” “Is your spine the spine of the righteous?” Andrew wondered. “Are you trying your best to step on my toes because you’re feeling the tragic weight of the holier than thou?” “Righteousness is for people who don’t know any better.”
What’s interesting about this is how (probably unintentionally) honest that last line is. Neil often doesn’t know any better, but that doesn’t stop him from running his mouth and meddling when he thinks he is right.
Neil lecturing Riko on friendship is one of the funniest things in the series, imo. Because not only does Neil roast Riko on live television:
“I thought friends were supposed to cheer each other on,” he said before Kathy could answer Riko. “Believing in him now is the least you could do after completely abandoning him last winter.”
But Neil spends most of the series freaked out about friendship, especially when it is applied to him:
“I’ve never had friends before. I don’t know how this works. I’m trying, but it’s going to take time.”
He doesn’t know anything about friendship, but there he is preaching to Riko. At least he added the caveat of that’s how he thought friends were supposed to behave?
Neil’s fight with Riko is just the beginning. Neil quickly moves on. He ultimately tries to repair things between Andrew and Aaron. Now Andrew is no stranger to meddling. He does it himself. It’s something he and Neil have in common. Where they differ is that Andrew tends to plan his (when he can be bothered to intervene). He made sure to get the permission of Matt’s mother before tempting Matt with drugs. He had a key ready to hand to Neil when they made their deal. He gets Neil a phone and then has Nicky text Neil until he is comfortable using it.
Both of them tend to be motivated into these actions by “righteous” reasons, and perhaps importantly they aren’t meddling for their own gain. Andrew wants Matt to handle his drug problem because it’s putting strain on Aaron. He wants Neil to stop running because he’s not going to survive that way. Meanwhile, Neil stands up to Riko to protect Kevin, and he interferes with Andrew and Aaron to unite the team.
Which is all to say, Andrew is on to Neil. While Neil makes his case to Andrew to let Aaron go in TKM:
“Let him go now if you ever want him to come back.” “Who asked you?” “You didn’t have to. I’m volunteering my opinion.”
Andrew has already faced the consequences of Neil interfering (at Nicky’s parents, with Drake) in these situations and Neil not knowing better, and that’s why he says:
“Don’t,” Andrew advised him. “Children should be seen and not heard.”
Neil is a child who doesn’t know what he is doing. To Andrew, he’s asking for something he doesn’t understand. But Neil doesn’t want to give up. He’s on a mission.
“Don’t dismiss me for lying to you then ignore me when I tell the truth.” “This is not truth,” Andrew said. “Truth is irrefutable and untainted by bias. Sunrise, Abram, death: these are truths. You cannot judge a problem with your obsession goggles on and call it truth. You aren’t fooling either of us.”
What I like about this exchange is how it is complicated by the fact that they are both right. Neil is being honest, he’s telling the truth as he believes it, and that’s not a luxury he’s had much of in his life. Worse, he’s sincere, but Andrew’s not impressed by Neil’s narrow focus, his “obsession goggles” that blind him to all of the facts except the ones he cares about, so he calls out Neil’s bias. And then Neil pushes too far:
“If you ask for half the truth, you’ll only get half the truth,” Neil said. “It’s your fault if you don’t like the answers I give you, not mine. But as long as we’re talking about obsession and Aaron’s life, what are you going to do about his trial? She’s going to be here for it, isn’t she? Cass, I mean,” Neil said, though he was sure Andrew knew who he was talking about. “You’re going to have to face her.” “Seen and not heard,” Andrew reminded him. He sounded bored, but Neil knew a warning when heard one. Neil let it slide and went back inside.
Bringing up Cass here is a strong reminder of Neil’s meddling and unintended consequences. Andrew has had enough and warns Neil off.
There’s one other exchange that I think is interesting in this light. It follows after Neil’s interview with the press in which he stated Edgar Allen should have Coach Moriyama step down. Andrew’s come to Neil’s room to get some to tell him Kevin won’t be at night practice.
“They don’t have a choice anymore. If the Ravens don’t let us run our course there will always be room for doubt and speculations. The Ravens can’t share their throne with what-ifs. They have to be supreme victors.“ Andrew gave that a moment to sink in before saying, "I’m undecided.” “About our chances this spring?” Neil asked. Andrew held his hands palm-up between them. “The thought that you’ve unintentionally conned them into this corner is intolerable, as it means you’re stupider than even I gave you credit for. If you did it knowingly, however, you’re cleverer than you’ve led me to believe. That means the Ravens aren’t the only ones you’re playing with. One of these is the lesser evil.”
Andrew can’t believe Neil’s been so successful at blundering on like he has, but to not believe Neil’s been blundering through it means that it’s intentional, that what happened with Drake might not have been the unintended consequences of Neil’s well-intentioned meddling as Andrew had assumed and instead is something a bit more sinister…
And even if Drake had been unintended, an accident in some other plan Neil had, it doesn’t mean Neil isn’t playing him.
“Not everything’s a con,” Neil said. Andrew didn’t answer, but Neil read his calm expression as disbelief. Neil considered defending himself and decided it a waste of energy. Andrew wouldn’t believe him anyway. “Which one is the lesser evil?” “I’m undecided,” Andrew said again.
It’s hard to know if Andrew is hedging here and doesn’t want to answer because he’d have to explain or because he thinks the likelihood of Neil actually being more clever than he thought is rather low or because he really is undecided.
Why would he be undecided if one option seems to clearly be the worst choice? Because Andrew is used to people letting him down. That’s easy. If Neil turns out to be genuine, the pipedream that seems an impossibility, well, that’s an emotional landmine.
“That’s helpful,” Neil muttered. “You could just ask.” “Why bother?” Andrew asked with a slight shrug. “I’ll figure it out eventually.”
And Andrew does figure it out on a hotel room floor in Baltimore. As it so happens, he can’t live without a righteous idiot who doesn’t know any better.
