I don’t know why it took me so long to realize what that the whole “I’ll take you down in tandem when this rope is tied” (the Soul Eclectic, 4:25) meant. I think I was skeptical about the verse because my thought process went: “how tf could you take someone down if your tied up???” (I was sure the “rope” was being tied around him because, in my theory, Mind temporarily captures Soul along with Heart.)

But, like, the rope is probably referring to a noose. It’s only later in the album that we get Two Wuv, the first mention of deciding NOT to commit suicide, as far as I know.

So, I guess now my theory was is a lil bit. In a similar way to what Heart did, Soul probably tried and/or wanted to kill the Whole. To not just kill himself, but also kill what he saw was the problem. He was practically hanging on by a thread.

For a bit more context, the Mind, Heart, and Soul all live within “Whole’s” body. (I put the quotation marks because, is it really fitting to call him Whole?)

It’s basically like the movie Inside Out, lol.
