Perfection is overrated.

Damascus Miles had a very clear idea in mind about what he wanted his son to be. Desmond would be a witch. A talented one at that. He’d grow into his power and become the best fit person to become head of the family once it was time for Damascus to step down.

Except… Desmond was six months old at the time and had yet to present any penchant for magic powers. But all of that would change in the next week when the horns started growing out of a very upset and crying baby. And out of the window went his plans of having a worthy heir in his first born. The relationship between father and son would become strained from that moment on with Desmond still as a child seeking the approval of his daddy. The man he saw as a hero and yet had very few memories of a true smile. If any.

Coming home with aced tests and good grades didn’t seem to be enough for Damascus who had found a new target for his expectations in Damon once he presented as witch. Desmond wasn’t mad. Wasn’t jealous. Sure he was hurt. He just… He just wanted his dad to give him a little more attention. Didn’t have to be as much as he was giving his baby brother. Just… a little more.

He would spend the following years trying to outdo himself in every possible way, just to get approval from the hardly impressed older witch. Good grades, team captain, main roles for extra credit, anything and everything in his academic life he’d try at least once to varying degrees of success. And yet, when graduation rolled around and he was offered a scholarship in business in NHU due to all that extra credit that spoke volumes to his dedication and commitment to a cause when he set his mind to it, his father didn’t even seem impressed. It was almost as if it was expected of Desmond to manage such a thing and get himself noticed by the NHU board.

And now we have Desmond Miles, trying to live up to the shadow that Damascus left behind in the University but incapable to do so for the simple fact that he couldn’t pursue the magical course. No matter how many lectures on the subject he sat through. 

So he did what he should and excelled at the more “mundane” classes, classes more closely tied to his business majoring. And that should be enough, right? He was excelling. He was not falling behind and he was still attending every team practice. And yet… Nothing seemed to appease Damascus unbelievably high standards.

And so, in a desperate moment, he tried one last move.

Ivy League.

He didn’t really think that one through. He just… He needed to give himself that one last shot. And to this day he’s still amazed that he got into Columbia Business School. Luckily, the campus was less than a two hour drive so, while he did move out for the sake of convenience, he could still come to New Haven every other weekend and check on his brothers and a certain high school friend he had started to take a different interest in.

Damascus, however, didn’t even bat a lash at the thought of his first born  going to study in one of the Ivy League schools for business. Not even the fact that they lived in a time where the mere fact that he was not a human would paint a huge target on his back.

But Desmond wouldn’t let that discourage him.

A new world full of possibilities had opened before him the moment he settled in his new dorm. New people, new friends. Classes. Team. Guys. Girls. He would be damned but he would have it all. And he would also hold himself accountable for that scholarship that had got him there to begin with. 

The following years would be considered the worst and the best years of Desmond’s life. Well… Now that he was out of his father’s constant sphere of influence, his teammates started calling him Zed. And he didn’t really dislike the nickname. Zed would go on living the college experience at its fullest and when graduation rolled around and he returned to New Haven full time… He decided that he didn’t want to be in that town anymore. Suddenly, New Haven was too small for his ambitions and his thoughts. And suddenly, Damascus didn’t talk to him with pure scorn. But then again… Damon was starting on his path as a witch and a little actor and little, precious Dominic too had presented as witch. Maybe they would have better luck in receiving their father’s attention and affection. But there was no place in that household or coven for Zed. So he went out in the world, after a very unexpected proposal was presented to him.

He… Couldn’t say he loved his job. That would be too strong a word. But he was a reliable person that got things done and had a problem solving mentality that added great to their team. But for the last decade, Zed has made a point to being an essential member of his team, only coming to visit his family during the holidays.

Until he snapped.

He’s been to Milan. And then Paris. And now he was in Athenas. No, he was not on vacation. He was in a series of important meetings, negotiations, takeovers… And yet… He felt like he missed too much. Hell, he was in Greece, in fucking Athenas, and he hadn’t gone to visit the Parthenon. He hadn’t had coffee by the Eiffel Tower while he was in Paris. Sure, those small pleasures were never meant to be his. He was never meant to enjoy those simple things in life. But something about the Greek view had him snapping.

How long since the last time he actually spoke to Damon?

How long had it been since the last time he managed to play with Dominic? Hell, his baby brother was now a grown up man. And Zed had missed the opportunity to squish his cute cheeks to death. And all for what? 

To live up to the expectations of a man that couldn’t even take him seriously?

Fucking David Gray respected him more than his own father. And David Gray didn’t have respect for no one! 

He was pissed. He was frustrated. And he hasn’t had good sex in god knows how fucking long. And he was done with it all.

Well… It was a good thing that he spent the past decade working his ass off and saving money instead of living the dream bachelor life, full of alcohol and debauchery. So he could afford to put in his two week notice. He could afford to walk out of the negotiations. He could afford to stay in Greece for another week, just to recharge, enjoy the beaches and the breeze for the first time in forever.

Going back to New Haven, he knew that there would be hell to deal with from Damascus but… Suddenly… He didn’t care. All he could think about was the small ranch he had spent the previous three days negotiating.

Well, he would buy that one. That was a fact. He’s also been eyeing a horse… He had some investment. He had the funds. He could afford to have some horses. Even though they were expensive as fuck. 

Ditching the suit and tie for cowboy boots and hat was one hell of a change for this city boy that just wanted daddy’s approval. But he wasn’t Desmond Miles any more. 

He was Zed Miles. 

And he would become his own person.

I have been violently gripped with the idea of a CODxAC Crossover, where Ghost and the 141 stumbling across an Isu facility. They spread out to search the ruins and Ghost ends up in a vast open room containing pods. There are hundreds of them in neat rows, but only one seem to contain something. Infant twins bearing the numbers 16 and 17 on their right and left shoulder respectively. On the side of the pod there is some text carved into the metal itself. '16=Clay 17=Desmond. TRUST ONLY 141'. Reading it gives Ghost a deep chill. Before he can think further on it, the pod starts to empty and open. The kids open their eyes and stare at him with eyes he swears glow, but in a blink it's gone. Must have been his imagination. The place suddenly rumbles and his radio comes to life.

"Ghost, get out of there! Think we might have activated a self destruct sequence!"

Before he can think too hard about it, Ghost grabs the kids and starts running while chunks of the ceiling falls down around him. Strangely enough the kids don't make any noise at the rough treatment or the violent shaking and noise.

So yeah, thanks to Saberamane, i have gotten into reading CoD fanfics. XD I remembered your fic on it and then i was just violently gripped with the image of a baby Desmond reaching his little hands up at Ghost and when he holds Desmond up to his face, the baby just places his hands on the mask and stares at it while smiling. Anytime anyone, besides 141, tries to take Desmond or Clay they start to fuss and/or scream bloody murder, so the gangs kinda stuck baby sitting. Well, more like Ghost with Soap's help. Price is busy trying to figure out why the General(idk enough about the lore, so unnamed General it is XD) is really interested in taking the kids. They lied about them being found inside the pods and said they found the dead body of a woman with the kids, so the interest in them is strange. Plus the ominous message written in the pod seems important. Ghost hates him, gets a strange sense of... Red??? from him.

So yeah, another hyperfixation it is. XD

If this is the reboot, he started as Lieutenant General and ends up as a General. In the OG though, Shepherd was Lieutenant General until his death.

We can set it up that Desmond and Clay are testtube babies Elijah created but Abstergo was hot on his tail so he ‘tipped off’ 141 of the location and lying of its connection to a secret terrorist organization.

Well…

It wasn’t necessary a lie because 141 is trying to find the Brotherhood. In the eyes of the world, the Brotherhood is a terrorist organization and 141 is tasked with finding their operations and stopping them.

In this one, Shepherd could either be a Templar, an ally of the Templar or (use the setup of The Shadow’s Endgame) a disillusioned Assassin gone rogue.

He doesn’t immediately clocked the babies Ghost took in as Desmond and Clay. Hell, Ghost knows well enough not to officially call them Desmond and Clay, instead going nicknames like ‘D’ and ‘C’. Soap and Gaz had been calling them different names to try and find out their actual names and they haven’t hit any jackpot yet.

Shepherd is interested in taking in the kids because he learned that the facility they attacked (which was nearby the supposed village that got wiped out during the operation) was Elijah’s secret lab.

Although they all believe Elijah to be dead so the place is actually for an unknown ‘third party’.

Abstergo believed that person is the current Sage, having awakened Aita’s memories after Elijah’s death.

So the question becomes why did Elijah decide to entrust Desmond and Clay to 141?

Because he was planning to infiltrate 141 later on.

Idk why I can’t find any good shit of this idea, especially with Desmond, but I am severely disappointed.

Because, c’mon: sketchy ass company? Genetic experimentation?? We got a lot going on around here!

Plus the Assassins could easily infiltrate some shit, I’m just saying.

Also, Desmond’s there, because he’s either there for a mission, cause he’s a master and shit, or he’s a bartender and listening to drunk ramblings of some of our favorite protagonists from the games.

Whatever works.

A lot of shit can happen when you’re an assassin in a world where bio weapons and fucking zombies are a thing. Though you might have to fuck with the timeline a bit if you want Desmond to be there for some of the bigger events, on both sides (Desmond’s age and the RE timeline) really, but it’s doable.

Or we can have Desmond be revived via bioweapon experimentation, but hey, who knows. ;)

Idk, I just wanted to get this idea out there, have fun with it. ^_^

Gosh, this is an oldie. Written December 2011, as an xmas gift for a friend here on tumblr (tho I think their name changed and I can't remember what their handle is anymore (or if they're even active on here anymore either), so I can't @ them...)

I love the Uncharted series, even tho I suck so, so bad at them. (I have not finished a single game, and I want Naughty Dog to release remastered versions with all the accessibility they implemented for Last of Us 2...even tho I know it isn't feasible. *sighs*)

But the idea that Drake somehow ends up helping the modern Assassins in tracking down PoE (hired by them at one point? Or hired by Templars and betrayed??), and then falling into a relationship w/ Shaun and Desmond kinda ate my brain for a long while, even if I couldn't get my ideas to paper for any of it. (Let's face it, Drake has had the strangest adventures, and learning of the Assassin/Templar war wouldn't phase him much.)

On the 13th of November, sixteen years ago, Assassin's Creed was released in North America for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3.

The plot is set in a fictional history of real-world events, taking place primarily during the Third Crusade in the Holy Land in 1191. The player character is a modern-day man named Desmond Miles who, through a machine called the Animus, relives the genetic memories of his ancestor, Altaïr Ibn-La'Ahad. Through this plot device, details emerge about a millennia-old struggle between two factions: the Assassin Brotherhood (inspired by the real-life Order of Assassins), who fight to preserve peace and free will, and the Templar Order (inspired by the Knights Templar military order), who seek to establish peace through order and control. Both factions fight over powerful artifacts of mysterious origins known as Pieces of Eden to gain an advantage over each other. The 12th-century portion of the story follows Altaïr, an Assassin, who embarks on a quest to regain his honour after botching a mission to recover one such artifact from the Templars; he does so by finding and assassinating nine targets across the Holy Land.

The gameplay focuses on using Altaïr's combat, stealth, and parkour abilities to defeat enemies and explore the environment. The game features counter-based hack-and-slash combat, social stealth (the ability to use crowds of people and the environment to hide from enemies), and a large open world comprising various regions of the Holy Land, primarily the cities of Masyaf, Jerusalem, Acre, and Damascus, all of which have been accurately recreated to fit the game's period. While most of the game takes place within a simulation based on Altaïr's memories, the player will occasionally be forced out of the Animus to play as Desmond in the modern day. Here, they are restricted to exploring a small laboratory facility, as Desmond has been kidnapped by a shady corporation looking for specific information within Altaïr's memories that will further their enigmatic goals.

Upon release, Assassin's Creed received generally positive reviews, with critics praising its storytelling, visuals, art design, and originality, while criticism mostly focused on the repetitive nature of its gameplay. Assassin's Creed won several awards at the 2006 E3 and several end-year awards after its release.

ASSASSINS CREED RESEARCH

I felt Assassins Creed linked in with the theme of Dreams and destruction or gods, as the game revolves around characters in real-life, accessing their ancestors through a dream world, in their minds.

Reality:

These two pictures, above, show the 'real-life' part of the game. Here, the character, Desmond Miles, trains to become a modern-day assassin, through connecting with his ancestor, Ezio, on the chair you can see, via his DNA and accessing his mind in a dream-like state..

Ezio Auditore da Firenze:

This is Ezio Auditore da Firenze, his name (Ezio) means Eagle, from the game Assassins Creed. I felt this linked up to the topic of dreams and destruction or gods, because the whole game is about them using their DNA to go into a dream-like state and act out the memories of one of their ancestors who used to be an assassin. In the game he has a few different weapons, which I will share pictures of in this post.

In this picture you can see his blades, which are on a gauntlet. The blades are drawn out, when required, by using a ring on his finger. The ring is attached to a piece of string which release the weapons when pulled.

This character was a Florentine nobleman during the Renaissance, he lived from 1459-1524, he was a master assassin and the mentor of the Italian Brotherhood of Assassins.

Arno Victor Dorian:

This character is Arno Victor Dorian. He is the protagonist of the 2014 game, Assassins Creed Unity. Arno is born into an assassin family, but is orphaned as a child and adopted into the de la Serre family, who are members of the Templar order and mortal enemies of the assassins.

Arno is thrown into the world of Assassins and Templars when his adoptive father is murdered and he gets blamed for it. After being thrown into prison, he meets an assassin named Pierre Bellec, who tells Arno that he believes he, too, is an assassin. Upon escaping prison, Bellec agrees to train Arno up to be a fellow assassin.

I really like this character. Being from the French Revolution era, his clothes have a French Revolution feel to them, I like all the leather, the way his clothes are layered, and his flowing coat, again giving a mystical feel to the character. His sword is wonderful, it really appeals to me, I really like the intricate guard and the way it trails down the blade of the sword.

Pierre Bellec:

Pierre Bellec is a French-Canadian Master Assassin, with assassin lineage, and former colonial soldier during the French Revolution. He took a seat on the Assassin Council of the Parisian Brotherhood. Bellec has an intense hatred for the Templar Order.

Bellec also wears a lot of leather, layered up clothes. He has a single leather glove and boots, with a shawl and hooded cloak. Bellec finds himself in prison a great deal, and it is while in prison he meets Arno, who he realises is the son of a fellow assassin called Charles, as he has his pocketwatch on him. It is Bellec who explains to Arno about his Eagle Vision, and teaches him how to use it. He tells Arno 'Your father was an Assassi, Arno. He gave his life fighting for the liberty of all mankind'.

Bellec is a highly skilled Master Assassin, who was trained by the Brotherhood from a young age and served as a soldier in the French Army. He is proficient in unarmed combat, swordmanship and freerunning. He is armed with a hidden blade, smoke bombs, a sword and a pistol.

experience in RP — honestly i've been rping since i was probably too young to rp on the internet 💀 i started on deviantart (which like. oops but also i was like 9) and then started rping on tumblr likeee ~2015 or so. i actually first started writing Kaki on tumblr in like 2016, and then kinda started writing on twitter in 2019 when the RPC on here started to wane from its peak. i came back very recently because i got tired of the limitations of writing on twitter

best experiences — as of recent, i've had a few really really fun crossover threads on twitter that will stay with me forever atp. one was a real slowburn romance plot with a spike spiegel, and another was of isekai plot with desmond miles from assassin's creed that ended up being really fun and sweet. i also have a really cute ship going with a friend's DB OC on twitter, too. oh kaki and her tendency to adopt men two heads taller than her ❤️

pet peeves/dealbreakers — trying to force OOC scenarios/behaviors onto kaki or otherwise just making it clear you don't respect her character outside of writing will really sour me in terms of trying for future interactions. i doubt this will happen here as it's mostly a problem i've had on twitter but JUST IN CASE!!! i'm mostly talking stuff like, oversexualizing her because she has muscles ("step on me, m*mmy" & such comments are a HUGE no-no), assuming she's overly aggressive/belligerent, or on the flip-side, babying her like she's a cutesy helpless waif. she is a 30+ year old woman with thoughts and feelings and i would like her autonomy to be respected.

muse preference ( fluff, angst, smut ) — HONESTLY i'm down with anything as long as it's interesting. on my own i tend to write adventure-drama type plots (the dbz fic i'm working on is just a space opera tbh) with a splash of horror of some flavor, usually with anti-capitalist/fascist/imperialist messaging. i think the one thing i should mention is that i do really enjoy when there's a conflict or overarching storyline happening in longer plotted threads; it just keeps me more engaged.

plot or memes — both are good and work tbh. memes can be good for breaking the ice or actually figuring out a dynamic in practice, but if we want to go for something more in-depth, i do prefer some plotting (even if it's just planning points A and B and then just improvising how our muses get there)

long or short replies — quality > quantity. even if your response is like 3 sentences or less, if it moves things along, it's fine with me (:

best time to write — i tend to write more at night or on the weekends. really just when i'm not dead tired 😭but also if i really get into the plot of a thread, i'll get kinda hyperfixated on it and respond in like 3 seconds. my fault

are you like your muse? — In a lot of ways, yeah. Kaki is an OC i've been developing for like at least a decade now, and a lot of her experiences are drawn from things I personally have experienced (albeit, greatly exaggerated lmao), and the kind of character she's become is a projection of my beliefs and how I feel about the current state of the world. Writing her is a bit of a catharsis for me, really.

What do you call a cowboy Ezio? Spaghetti western. Spaghetti” Westerns are a subgenre of Westerns whose name references the circumstances and location of their filming. Generally, a Spaghetti Western is a low-budget film produced by Italian directors (hence the “spaghetti” connection) and filmed in Europe, primarily in Almería and the Tabernas Desert.Feb 18, 2022.

Being in a Spaghetti Western makes me think of an actor AU where Ezio is a popular actor in Italy who gets the part of a major character in a Spaghetti Western movie. The main draw of the film is, of course, the leading man who goes by the name “Connor” (real name is kept a secret because he likes his privacy).

The film is a revenge story of a man who lost his tribe (including his mother), burned to the ground by a certain group for nefarious means and he hunts them down one by one.

Ezio plays the main character’s final target, the “Sheriff Jack O’Leary”, the leader of the group.

The twist of the story is that Ezio’s and Connor’s characters are actually father and son.

The bigger twist is that Ezio’s character didn’t even sign off on the burning of the village, his group did that on the orders of a high ranking politician that was helping the main character is finding this group.

A tale of betrayal and revenge with a downer ending of the main character killing his father because they could not find a middle ground.

Ezio was having fun. He was Italy’s darling, known for playing handsome charming men that women (and men) swooned over. So to play what could be considered as the main villain (or the secondary main villain to the politician pretending to be good) was good for him.

Along the way, he gets close to the cast and crew, even becoming something akin to an older brother to the leading man (who finally tells him his real name is Ratonhnhaké:ton and he chose the name ‘Connor’ as a tribute to a senior of his that supported and encouraged him when he was doing theater before).

Unorganized Notes:

Leonardo is the set director and he’s super passionate about it. He’s a big fan of western movies and an even bigger fan of sci fi movies.

Machiavelli is the director and he’s quite the perfectionist. On the other hand, he had worked with Ezio before and they get along.

Federico works as Ezio’s agent and PA in one, mostly because he’s worried about his little brother and also because he doesn’t want to become the next CEO of the Auditore Bank. Claudia can have that.

Ratonhnhaké:ton’s agent is a man only known as “Mr. Cormac”. He’s also Ratonhnhaké:ton’s bodyguard and Ratonhnhaké:ton admitted to Ezio later on that his father was the one who employed “Mr. Cormac”. “To keep an eye on you?” “To make up for the decades of parental neglect he believes he committed even though he didn’t even know I existed back then.”

The script is written by Altaïr under the pseudonym Philip S. He’s a well known scriptwriter who churn up lots of scripts a year and just give them to whoever wants them. No one has ever seen his face. Whenever he has to get an award for his script or asks for a meeting, some poor guy named Desmond Miles would appear, apologize for his boss’ rude behaviors and then just do whatever was needed. Some rumors say Philip S is a woman and that’s why they don’t want to make an appearance. No. Altaïr just don’t want to mingle with people he doesn’t know or even like. He just likes to write. Desmond is actually his secretary/live-in houseworker who got the job because no one else could stay as Altaïr’s houseworker long enough to learn Altaïr was also a writer. The pay is good, Desmond doesn’t need to pay for bills since he lives in Altaïr’s house and sometimes Altaïr’s hot childhood friend visits to make sure Altaïr hasn’t died yet (his words, not Desmond’s) so the view is nice.

Haytham Kenway may or may not be producing the film under one of his shell companies. No one is really sure what the Kenway family does but it’s Hollywood during the mid 60s so… it’s shady af.

Kaniehtí:io is alive and is supportive of her son’s rising popularity while being worried about him. She and Haytham never married and she never actually told him about Ratonhnhaké:ton. Haytham only learned about him after Ratonhnhaké:ton became a movie star.

Yes, Ratonhnhaké:ton started in theater (as a child actor) and Connor Davenport took him in as his ‘protege’. Connor Davenport, unfortunately, died (Hollywood drama)
