Transcending Love

Soft white lights tenderly flicker under a dark blue sky in time with the stars above. Thin white curtains blow delicately, the fragrance of soft blue flowers fill the air. My beautiful wife, Rayna, stands before me, a tender smile forming on her lips. Our arms entwined around each other, swaying slowly to the mellow beat of the song. All the guests faded away, it was just the two of us. Nestling her head on my shower, our bodies pressed together as if to become one, I hear her say my name, Arin, followed by honeyed words. I wished for time to stop right here, to have this day last forever.

Small feet stampeding around the house, Rayna following close behind with a towel spread open trying to wrangle our child after bath time. I watch from the couch, our youngest sleeping soundly in my arms, as the chaos ensues. Giggles echo through the house as my wife enters the room with our child wrapped up like a burrito. A wave of peace washed over me as I took in my entire world gathered together in one room. Smiling sweetly at my wife, her hair falling out of her loose bun as strands gently swept across her cheeks, as she placed a kiss on our son’s head before looking up to smile back at me. Things couldn’t be more perfect.

Taking her hand in mine and gently placing it on my arm I looked down at our daughter who smiled up at me, her already tear filled eyes glistening, as she nods her head. The two of us walk slowly down the aisle as I prepare to hand off my only daughter to the man that awaits us. Placing her hand in his outstretched one, I cup their hands in my now rough and wrinkled ones. Looking into his moist eyes once more, I smiled at him after I gave them both my blessing, I made my way back to Rayna. Her frame became even more delicate and her hair had grayed, as well as mine, but she was still the most beautiful woman I’ve ever met.

Our children, their husbands and wives, and our grandchild all gathered around us in our bedroom. Soft sniffling could be heard but words of comfort were spoken through gummy smiles from my wife and I. Nestled perfectly on the walls and various shelves and dressers around the room and house were pictures telling the story of our life together. Each glass frame preserving every memory as if you were walking through a museum. I held my wife’s fragile, wrinkled hand in my, placing a soft kiss onto the tender skin of her cheek I whispered loving words just like she had on our wedding night. Feeling her squeeze my hand to signal it was time, I laid my head on hers as we both closed our eyes and took our last breaths. I had been the luckiest man alive to have lived my life with her.

I opened my eyes, the off white ceiling above me. I was in my room, nestled in my bed. The morning light peaking through the small crack of my curtains. Rolling over I focused on a picture of me hugging a small framed woman, whom I had the honors of befriending and whom I had fallen madly in love with, that sat on my bedside table. We were just about finished with college and were discussing our future and we wanted to do. She wanted to become a writer, I wanted to open my own bookshop with a coffee shop so when she came out with books I’d be the first to have them for sale. But if that backfired I always joked how I’d become an accountant or some other boring job. She’d laugh and roll her eyes but she always supported my dreams, and I hers.

I knew she was the woman I’d spend the rest of my life with. I had it all planned out how I was going to propose to her. Next to the picture, slightly tucked under the corner of the frame, lay her obituary. That was home to the last moment I got to spend with her. A small smile tugged at the corners of my lips as my mind played out all the memories we shared as I closed my eyes. A single tear ran down my left cheek, soaking the pillow just below. Sleep still lingering around me and in my voice I muttered softly before drifting back into darkness.

“I’ll see you soon.”

Hi :) it’s been awhile since I’ve actually had conversations with my mutuals here and I feel bad about it as always but I just wanted to post and say hi and that I think about my oldest mutuals often and hope y’all are still alive and well no matter where you are on your life journey. I miss you guys and I’m sorry I never reached out :( I’ve become bad at keeping connected to people but I want you all to know that I appreciate you all being in my life and I hope sometime we can have our fun conversations again. I hope what I said makes sense, it always sounds better in my head. I just hope y’all are well and if you ever come back to tumblr sometime you can say hi or leave a message even if it’s small, I enjoy the surprises and idk hi :) I miss my mutuals you guys were my first friends when I started building my blog up and I just really appreciate all the kind words and everything you’ve done for me and I wanted to say something even if I couldn’t message you individually. Sometimes it’s easier for me to make a post like this. I still think about you all and wonder how things are and I remember your usernames and pfps and it brings back memories, even if we didn’t talk a lot, maybe I mentioned you in some tag games or I popped in to say hi.

I wanna make something for you all as a thank you for just being a part of my experience here on tumblr even if we don’t talk anymore I want to do something to show my appreciation so I recently fiddled around and made some lil collage/edits and I want to make some for you guys if you’ll let me. Just tell me some things you like, like an actor or singer or animal and some colors and anything and I wanna put something together as a thank you for talking to me when I was still a young blog? Does that make sense? Cause I didn’t have a lot of followers just a couple mutuals and some of you became really close friends and I appreciate you for that.

@cherryeoo​ Guess who is your secret santa? Me. It was me all along >:) I had a lot of fun talking to you these past couple weeks, you are really sweet~ We are already mutuals (I am pretty sure) and I made this moodboard for you, mixed with a short drabble! I know you don’t write in the same style as me, but I really hope you like it anyways! It is based around Boyfriend!Kihyun taking you on a late night date in the city for your birthday~

The two of you laid there in the middle of the local park, fingers intertwined and eyes fixed on the stars. That is, the ones that you could see despite all of the bright city lights. The music in the earbuds you shared set a calm and loving tone, making the pace of your heart quicken.

Out of the corner of your eye, you could see Kihyun’s head turned and his eyes on you, a soft smile spreading on his lips before he squeezed your hand a bit tighter.

You let out a nervous chuckle, turning to look at him. “What? What are you thinking about?” 

Kihyun’s smile only spread more, now a full on grin, his eyes doing that cute moon thing you loved so much. Oh, great, there go the butterflies in your stomach again.

“I was just thinking,” He started, his thumb gently brushing the back of your hand as he held it tightly in his own, “about how lucky I am. You know, we have been together for almost a year and a half.”

You felt your cheeks heat up and proceeded to curse yourself for being so soft. Maybe it was the wine? That thought made you let out a breathy laugh. No, you have always been this way around him. Even after a year and a half, he could still give you butterflies just with a simple look.

Before you had a chance to reply, you were startled by Kihyun’s sudden presence right beside your face, making you jump slightly. 

He laughed and brought up a hand to your cheek, his warm fingers gently running along your flushed skin. 

“I can’t believe you still get like this after all of this time... I hope it never changes.” His thumb gently traced your lips before he leaned down to bring his own against them in a soft kiss.

After pulling away, he leaned up and pressed another one to your forehead before wrapping you up in his arms and bringing you against his chest, rubbing his hands up and down your sides and your arms to keep you warm.

How can he be like this? It is like the honeymoon phase but it never ends with this man!

“Ki, if either of us here is lucky, it is me.” You brought your body close to his and allowed him to wrap you up in the blanket you shared. “You have always treated me so kindly, you love my friends and my family and on top of that, you take genuine interest in my hobbies. I do believe, I have the lucky catch here.”

The both of you laughed as you cuddled together under the stars, Kihyun bringing his chin down to rest on the top of your head. 

“You deserve all of those things, and more. Seeing you happy makes me happier than you know.” His lips pressed to the top of your head gently. “Happy birthday, princess.”

Hello love. We’re in Australia right now. It’s warm and always sunny. I was actually really surprised by how late the sun goes down here. We should come here together sometime. The locals are really nice and the food is amazing. We’re having our concert tonight. The boys and I spent half the day today and all day practicing and preparing. I know you’ll be following the concert and reading up on how well it went on social media. Wish you were here with me. I promise I’ll be home soon.

It’s me again, Hongjoong. How are you today? I hope you’re doing ok and not stressed. I can’t be there to cheer you up right now so I need you to be strong and when I return I’ll make it up to you. We’re leaving Australia now. The concert was amazing. Have you seen all the video and pictures? I’ll have to show you all the ones me and the boys took. Our next destination is London. I can’t wait to see Big Ben, try all the tea and all the food. I want us to ride the London Eye together someday. Well our plane is about to take off so I’ll let you know when we land safely.

We’ve landed safely in London. I would’ve written sooner but our schedule is really packed today so I might not have a lot of time to message you but I promise I will every chance I can get. We had breakfast at this amazing cafe after we got settled into the hotel. Reminds me of the one we visited on our first date. It’s gloomy and rainy but everyone says that’s how it usually is here. But I don’t mind it. I feel inspired to write a new song. Our fans have been so amazing. I’m thinking about writing a song for them again, since they remind me/us of an aura. But I’m just throwing around ideas right now. I’m sitting by the window of our hotel room looking at all the city lights below. It’s raining again. I’m feeling very relaxed. I love nights like these.The only thing that’s missing is you in my arms.Well tomorrow is our concert, I think I’m gonna get to bed now so I can be well rested for tomorrow.

Hey baby. Our London concert is tonight. We’re all super excited. But the boys said they miss you, I do too. I miss you very much. I can’t wait to hold you and kiss you. I miss waking up next to you, coming home to a long day to you in the kitchen cooking dinner or dancing around the house while you blast music when you’re cleaning or just bored. I miss playing games with you and how competitive the two of us get. I miss how you’d purse out your lower lip in a pout after you’ve lost. Two months is way too long to be away from you. But I promise I’ll be home soon, I’ll make up for all the lost time. It’s time for practice, I’ll write to you after the concert is over and we’re back at the hotel. So the concert was a success. Another sold out show. Speaking of shows. Our manager pulled us all aside and told us that KQ has decided to add a few more stops to our tour. So it looks like we won’t be coming home after this like we planned. As much as I love touring and performing for our fans, I miss you most. This is torture for me. It’s only a couple more stops but I was hoping to have you in my arms this time a couple of days from now. But I guess we’ll both have to endure it and stay strong a little longer. I’m so sorry to have to tell you this.

Your heart sunk to the floor. The words echoing in your mind. He was supposed to be home in two days. How much longer are you going to have to be separated from him? Hasn’t two months been enough? Blaming your luck forcefully pressed the lock button on your phone before storming off to your room - tears stung at your eyes. Tossing yourself into the bed you grabbed the pillow Hongjoong used, holding it as tight as you could. Sobbing into the pillow you decided to just sleep the time away, and you did.

Two days passed in a blur. You went about your daily life on autopilot. Not much of anything bringing you joy like it usually did. The only thing that could was on the other side of the world. You haven't heard much from your boyfriend either. Not that it was unusual to go a couple days without hearing from him. Stepping into the too empty apartment, you tossed your purse and jacket onto the couch before making your way to your bedroom. After a quick shower you slipped into some of your boyfriend's clothes before burying yourself under the blankets. The next morning started out no different from the past two months. Washing your face you decided to have a bite of something for breakfast, Hongjoong would scold you if he found out you’d been skipping meals.

Your ears perked up when you heard the faint sound of food sizzling in a skillet, the savory scent of fresh brewed coffee wafted throughout the apartment. Quietly making your way down the hallway towards the kitchen you peaked around the corner to see an all too familiar figure standing there, their back to you as they bustled around the kitchen while humming a soft yet unfamiliar tune that sent goosebumps up and down your arms. Stand there in shock you stood there taking it all in. After plating the food to his liking and pouring two cups of coffee he turned around to set the table only to see you standing there in shock. Setting down the plates he stared back into your eyes, a smile that only formed for you spread across his face. His eyes seemed to sparkle as if a thousand stars just exploded in the darkness of his irises. “Good morning my sleeping beauty. Thought I was actu-”

Cutting him off you darted forward and wrapped your arms as tight as you could around his torso. Tears pooled up in your eyes, burying your face in his chest. You were sure you were soaking his shirt. But you didn’t care. At this moment you didn’t care for any explanation. He was home.

“Welcome home.”

Snaking one arm around your waist, pulling you closer to him, and the other up your back to cradle the back of your head in his hand. Gently stroking your hair Hongjoong brought his head down to your neck, becoming intoxicated off your sweet scent, he whispered in your ear,

“I’m home.”

I hope this is okay but I saw your post. I have only tried to attempt suicide once when I was a lot younger but many times I have hospitalized myself from cutting. I can relate to where you’re coming from. You’re not alone & even though we’re all strangers we are here if you need someone to talk to. I know that’s said a lot but I truly mean it. We’re only human, we will stumble and fall, but you’re not alone & are loved. Keep fighting even when it’s hard & things seem impossible and pointless
