Star Wars Fic Recs Feat. Time Travel
I think this is my favorite Star Wars trope… maybe just because sw is a tragedy and i want the characters to be happy.. maybe because I’m a sucker for the “reveal moment”… i don’t know.
Hopefully you all enjoy these as well!
-
(All fics are Gen unless otherwise specified!)
-
Back From the Future: Episode VI The Clone Wars by Ariel_Sojourner
“In which Luke Skywalker and Darth Vader travel back in time together to the Clone Wars era, have amazing adventures, and save the galaxy.”
Basically, Luke and Vader time travel and take over a clone battalion to change the major battles of the war. This is. A masterpiece. It’s insane. It feels like an actual, published story when you read it. It is told in a nonlinear way, so if you’re not into that, you probably won’t enjoy this. But I promise it’s one of the greatest fanfictions I’ve ever read, and there’s a reason it’s first on this list.
(Padme/Anakin and Obi-Wan/Satine, though neither ship is a focal point of the story)
-
there but for the grace of god by wanderlove
“There’s nothing particularly remarkable about Sullust.
Well, except for Obi-Wan’s time-traveling son. But, you know. Apart from that.”
I LOVE this fic. Young Luke is sent into the clone wars, and since he’s been raised by Obi-Wan on Tatooine, everyone assumes that he’s Obi’s kid. His appearance changes everything by causing the people around him to reveal deep secrets that would otherwise have led to the fall of the Jedi.
(Padme/Anakin and referenced Obi-Wan/Satine)
-
Old Masters, New Tricks by soft_but_gremlin
“Sixteen-year-old Obi-Wan Kenobi finds himself on Lothal in the middle of the Imperial Era. He has no idea why he's here or what all these white-clad troopers are for, but after a rocky start with a little Mandalorian, he finds out that his friend Luminara is in trouble and vows to rescue her.
Sabine Wren has no idea what this other Mandalorian is doing on Lothal, but he looks just like former rebel Korkie Kryze and he's got lightsabers on his belt. He's either going to be a fierce but foolish ally, or the Empire's paying bounty hunters to track down Jedi.”
One of the few SW fics I’ve read where characters are sent FORWARD in time! This one is really great, and I reread it all the time. The heartache Obi-Wan feels when he remembers that all his friends are dead and the heartache KANAN feels when Obi-Wan does something that reminds him of the Jedi…. Amazing.
-
Free Jedi to Good Home by soft_but_gremlin
“Jango Fett expected several things from this hunt on Galidraan. Three hypothermic Jedi children stumbling into his camp was not one of those things.”
Obi-Wan, Anakin, and Ahsoka (and maybe a few others, later on 👀) are sent back in time to change the outcome of the massacre at Galidraan. This one is REALLY great and I especially love the sequel (which is currently unfinished but very suspenseful and exciting)
-
The Making of Mavericks by AppoApples
“Master Obi-Wan Kenobi couldn't let her just walk out into the galaxy without a lifeline. With Commander Cody and Captain Rex at his side, Obi-Wan tries to give Ahsoka some well meant advice. But the Force was listening and decided these four souls needed to blaze a better path. With all that has happened to them, waking up twenty-five years in the past shouldn't be a big deal, right?”
Time travel with Obi-Wan, Ahsoka, Rex, AND Cody! FOUR people. Crazy. The classic “Obi-Wan is sent back to his childhood to change things before Anakin ever enters the picture” fic. It greatly surpassed my expectations for a time travel fic though! One of the best for sure.
-
Legacy by myrlendi (thehistorygeek)
“Three months after the Battle of Endor, Luke Skywalker goes in search of a rumoured Jedi temple in a secluded part of the Mid Rim. He finds within the temple nothing but a strange artifact, which unexpectedly brings him much closer to the Jedi of old than he ever thought he would be.
When Luke fails to return from his mission, Leia goes after him, retracing his steps to the ancient temple — and to the past, to the time of the Clone Wars and the waning years of the Old Republic. Under suspicion by the Jedi Order, the twins struggle to find a way back to their own time while trying to keep their knowledge of the future from affecting the past.”
Okay, time travel with Luke Skywalker is great (one of my favorite things!), but time travel with Luke AND Leia??? Perfect. I love when she’s included.. it usually leads to some very interesting interactions between her and Anakin.
-
Luminous We Are by AppoApples
“Master Obi-Wan Kenobi is filled with regrets when the Padawan he chooses is assigned to Anakin. When he discovers that it was Yoda's meddling that had prevented him from being a Padawan in his own youth, the betrayal runs deep. Wondering what could have been, a trick of the Force throws him back in time, where he learns to put his trust in the Force, not the High Council.
Redemption of Qui-Gon Jinn had he not been forced to take a Padawan before he was ready, and where the Order learns to take another course that put quite a wrench in the Sith plans. Start of the Clone Wars to 44BBY AU of the Apprentice books. Cheeky Obi-Wan and Mandalorian shenanigans.”
Obi-Wan Kenobi being adopted by Mandalorians is QUITE a popular trope in this fandom for some reason… I think it’s actually a tag on Ao3 now (don’t quote me on that). Anyway, this fic is one of the few where the time traveler is unable to rely on (very much of) their knowledge from the future.
(Obi-Wan/Quinlan)
-
The Kenobi Scandal by AppoApples
“One moment they are speeding on their way to Mos Eisley, only to be hit by a Force instigated sandstorm, and the next thing Ben Kenobi knows is he wearing his old armour with the Jedi insignia and Luke can't find the droids. What's a Jedi to do when he finds himself back before the fall of the Republic? Come up with a cover story more scandalous than time travel: ‘Luke, this is Anakin Skywalker. Anakin, this is my son, Luke Kenobi.’”
Amazing! I really like when we see the potential Luke has with some formal Jedi training. And although there is a cover story for Luke’s (and Obi-Wan’s, technically) time travel, there are still some lovely emotional outbursts :)
(Obi-Wan/Satine and Luke/Ahsoka)
-
Gone Are The Days by theycallmesuperboy
“While investigating an ancient Jedi distress signal in the Outer Rim, Luke Skywalker and Wedge Antilles are mysteriously sent back in time to the last days of the Republic, and stranded on Naboo, meeting two people Luke could only have ever dreamed of meeting: his parents.
Only, due to Luke's "quick thinking," the two are lead to believe that Luke and Wedge are just like them: a secretly married couple, due to Luke's status as a Jedi.”
Luke gets an opportunity to really get to know his dead parents, and Wedge gets to kiss Luke. I’m a sucker for the fake dating trope lmao, and combined with time travel? Zoo wee mama!
(Luke/Wedge and Padme/Anakin)
-
Significant Brain Damage by AppoApples
“Luke Skywalker finds himself in the past as Anakin Skywalker. Obi-Wan finds himself retraining his old apprentice who has permanent amnesia while also taking on Anakin's Padawan, being a General, a Council member -during a Galactic Civil War, and fighting for a Republic he's beginning to lose faith in. Clone Wars, no paradox, no easy fix it.”
I love this one so much. Luke has to kind of pretend to be Anakin.. but everyone around him just thinks he’s had some amnesia and a major personality change. I LIVE for the “why is Anakin so much nicer now” moments.
(Padme/Sabe and Obi-Wan/Satine)
Also you may notice that this is the FOURTH fic by AppoApples on this list… I love their ideas so much.
-
May Death Find You Alive by Must_Be_Thursday
“Anakin finds himself trapped in a nightmare, reliving the same day. He tries. He tries to change things, but it always ends the same.
With a broken bond and a dead best friend.
He's not sure how many times he'll be able to watch the life leave Obi-Wan before he loses his mind.”
Let’s switch it up! Groundhog Day style time loops are always fun, and this one saves the universe! So yay! Fr though, Anakin learns to trust Obi-Wan and it changes everything.
-
The More I Live The More I See This Life is Not About Me by K_R_Closson
“After touching a mysterious artifact, Cody's general is suddenly a child with the memories to match. Cody has to coax a suspicious adolescent back to base without alerting the nearby Separatists of their presence.
Reversing his general's age an easier fix than Cody thought it would be, but he didn't factor in the possibility that Obi-Wan might not want to give up his self in order to become General Kenobi again. It'd be easier to think if he didn't have an insidious voice in his head, whispering to him to distrust the Jedi.”
This one is technically just de-aging, with Obi-Wan becoming his thirteen year old self, but I consider it similar enough to time travel to be included, and it has a lot of the same tropes. It’s very well written, and the dialogue flows excellently with the descriptions.
-
what is necessary (for love and war) by hellowkatey
“His fingers reach for the hilt that has become as familiar as his own after that three-day journey back from Melida/Daan. He couldn’t stand to put the boy's saber down until he reached his quarters and reality finally set in.
Obi-Wan didn’t come back with him. Once again, he is without a Padawan.
The moment cool durasteel meets his fingertips, the overwhelming presence of Obi-Wan slams into him so hard the room begins to spin. Qui-Gon sinks to the floor, saber clutched in both hands and pressed tight against his chest as though it’s actually Obi-Wan he’s hugging.
‘You have to go back.’”
This time it’s Qui-Gon who is sent forward through time, into the clone wars. The time travel in this fic doesn’t really change anything (as in, it’s not a fix-it), but it gives some great insight into Qui-Gon’s character.
-
Chosen One (derogatory) by annathecrow
“Asajj Ventress, the chosen savior of the galaxy. Force help us all.”
VENTRESS is the one to go back in time. Isn’t that crazy??? Isn’t that an insane premise?????? It was SO fun to read.
(Ventress/Shmi)
-
One Step Forward, Two Steps Back by K_R_Closson
“Ahsoka Tano told Din to bring Grogu to the Seeing Stone on Tython, and Grogu would be able to call out to other Jedi. Ahsoka Tano did not say that other Jedi might call out to him or that the pillar of blue light was actually a type of planetary transportation.
Din ends up on a planet he's never heard of with nothing but his armor and his child. A lot has changed but his mandate hasn't. He must reunite Grogu with one of his kind. But first, he has to help these ade win a civil war against the dar'buir who abandoned them.”
Din travels back to the war on Melida/Daan, where one of our favorite padawans was struggling to lead the Young to victory (hint: he’s a fan favorite who almost always ends up being adopted by Mandalorians). I really like this one! It’s less about changing the past, and more about character growth and relationships.
-
Bonus: Incomplete Fics
I wanted to separate these from the fics above, which are all complete.
-
from this moment hangs eternity by EvanHart
“If Luke – Force, his son – was talking about slave chips, something must have gone wrong in the future.
Or, a six-year-old Luke ends up in the middle of the Clone Wars, meets his father, and changes the fate of the galaxy on the way.”
I’m a real sucker for child Luke. Gotta say. He’s ADORABLE. and moments of gut-wrenching sadness interrupted by his little sunshine smiles?? Oh my god?
Chapters: 10/15
-
Oya Manda’lor! by Cloud__Chaser
“After giving up his child to Luke Skywalker, Din Djarin has found himself without a purpose. Filling in the gaps by completing bounties for Boba Fett, Din comes across a strange artifact that leaves him stranded in time.
Who knows, maybe Din's complete lack of knowledge of the world outside of the outer rim will lead to the fall of the empire before it even begins...”
Din basically becomes the most admired person on Mandalore in the span of like. A week. after he travels back in time. It’s really funny, and something I like to read when I’m in a good mood!
Chapters: 38/?
(Din/Jaster)
Also, it’s been over a year since this updated (as of the date I’m posting this), so beware, it may or may not be abandoned.
-
Sith Lord Swell by AMournfulHowlInTheNight
“‘Well, looks like we're all Sith Lords, now. I hope you've all been practicing your most menacing laughter for our first run in with the Jedi Council.’
Ben could only sigh and raise a distasteful eyebrow at the cross shaped, red lightsaber he was given. Down the line other students were also handling their new weapons and robes with a raised eyebrow here and quizzical expression there.
‘Really, uncle?’
‘Really. I don't want to compete with the local Jedi population.’
Why did Jedi politics and time travel have to be so difficult?”
Like most Star Wars fans, I’m not a big fan of the sequels (‘somehow, Palpatine returned’ my ass), BUT! This fic, involving a young Ben Solo and old Luke Skywalker, was a lot of fun to read.
Chapters: 13/?
-
There is another Skywalker by WabiSabi
“‘They couldn't narrow down the precise relationship due to some strange contamination in the sample. But when they launched a search in the DNA databank they found a match. Reliability of 50%, which only happens between parent-child and—’
‘Siblings,’ Master Kenobi completes, voice faint. ‘Full-blood siblings.’
The clone nods. ‘She was estimated to be around 30-years-old, so by process of exclusion, Leia Solo would be General Skywalker’s older sister by 9 years.’”
This time, it’s just Leia who’s sent to the past! Technically Luke lives as a voice in her head, but it’s pretty much just Leia. Also, I really like the premise that the temple runs a DNA test and assumes that she’s Anakin’s sibling. It’s a lot of fun!
Chapters: 10/?
Also, it’s been over a year since this updated (as of the date I’m posting this), so beware, it may or may not be abandoned.
-
Companion of the Ancestors by Omegarose
“Ahsoka finds herself in a strange place, out of contact with Obi-Wan and alone with the twins. The Force feels like it hasn't in years, and she runs into a man who has to be an idiot for the way he's acting like a Jedi two years after Order 66.
((Dooku, Qui-Gon, Obi-Wan, Anakin, and Ahsoka all meet each other when they're 19 years old. With the addition of the Skywalker twins and a slightly-younger (than Ahsoka remembers him) Yoda.))”
I love Ahsoka, I love Luke and Leia, I love Obi-Wan… I love this fic. All of the secrets and reveals and drama! So much fun!
Chapters: 10/?
You’re not able to read this fic unless you have an Ao3 account, but those are easy to make. If anyone doesn’t know how to make one, I’m happy to make a post explaining the process!
-
That’s all, folks! 20 fics is… a lot. And there are A LOT of characters in all that… So, sorry for the exorbitant amount of tags I’ll be using here. Happy reading!

Padme does not tolerate fashion crimes. Actually, she's just against her children being turned into "proper imperials."
This comic and the previous two should be read together as originally they were planned all as one. I cut them into three due to the length of it.

Star Wars
I believe SW fandom oppinion is always going from one extreme to another, the Jedi or Sith are either good or evil and Anakin was evil from birth, etc and the thing is that the story needs to be taken with more nuance to fully appreciate it imo.
For example:
I honestly don´t like the Jedi as an institution in the PT, I believe they were arrogant, thought themselves above non force sensitives, not in words but in actions, lest remember this Jedi Order didn´t tought much about using Jedi mindtricks to get their way or even just because a non- force sensitive annoyed them, they used control chips to make their clone soldiers more obedient, they just didn´t expect those chips to also have hidden orders to attack them with their guard down.
Sure they had good reasons always but actions speak louder than words and from this perspective, they were good with those actions because there is a certain feeling of superiority on their part, a feeling of " I have the power, I am in charge, I am doing this for the good of the galaxy and so I can do this" and they were too set in their ways, even their critical elements like Qui-Gon or Count Dooku, to truly question why they did this and if it´s even neccesary and their enemies noticed this, Sidious used those inherent flaws agaisn´t them to gain power by appearing to be a normal non force sensitive, their arrogance didn´t allow them to recognize him as a foe even with the growing political power he amassed for himself until it was far too late and they needed to know he was a sith for this to happen.
Still their whole institution seek to help the galaxy, their problem was that with time this became equal to "help the Senate keep its power" and later this same Senate betrayed them. 0rder 66 was a lawful order approved by the Senate.
Still the fact the Jedi had flaws doesn´t mean the Sith were right to kill them all or to impose a dictatorship over the galaxy.
The Sith in star wars canon always wanted to impose an Empire with slavery included, they treat their apprentice as slaves until they get to become a master and the cycle goes on and on.
The force itself had to bring the birth of Anakin to stop the Sith and their manipulation of the force, because they also tried to alter the whole nature of the force to become inmortal and rule forever.
The Jedi became famous in the galaxy after they managed to defeat the Sith Empire, ending slavery on many worlds, that´s part of their legend, that´s why Anakin and Shmi to a certain point, thought the Jedi were on Tatooine to free the slaves but even when they were told this wasn´t why they were on Tatooine they still wanted to help them to help Naboo. Anakin and Shmi believed in compassion as the answer to the problems in the galaxy.
What the PT presents to us is a story about a good institution trying to do some good in the galaxy but that had fatal flaws that were used by their enemies to destroy all of them because the goverment they served became a dictatorship on their watch.
The OT is about the common people, the non-force sensitives getting together and inspriring everyone to bring down this dictatorship helped by the descendants of the old Jedi Order and the honest leadership of the Old Republic, representend by Luke and Leia, Anakin´s and Padme´s children and this union is so strong that they not only manage to convert former imperial soldiers to their pov but also Darth Vader himself.
Anakin is the central caracter, a character who suffered under the previous status quo as a slave during Republic and Jedi Order rule, a person who was later used as a weapon by both the Jedi and the Sith, who thought the Empire was the answer to the problems in the galaxy in a big part because of the grooming Sidious did with him, allowed by the Jedi but he had his own dreams to help make a better galaxy and keep his loved ones safe and alive and happy and this also played into his fall to the darkside, because he went from believing love and compassion was the answer to power was the answer, as a result he lost everything(his family, his body, his sanity) and became a slave to Sidious, as a consequence of his actions agaisn´t the jedi.
Later, at the end of his life, seeing all over again Sidius killing the last one of his family in front of him, he choose to sacrifice himself instead of keep being the second most powerful of a galaxy, despite being a slave, a galaxy abused by the dominance of the Empire, to save what he found worth keeping alive in the galaxy, his Son and his compassion even for those like him who seemed lost forever to everyone else, because that ideal was worth keeping alive, it could heal the galaxy just as it healed him, he remembered he used to believe love and compassion could solve the galaxie´s problems as well.
Star Wars is a story that allows all the dimensions between good or bad to his characters, allowing them to grow or become worse because that´s fundamentally part of human nature and it´s a story that tells us that despite this everybody can become better if they choose to be, everybody can be saved if they want to and that´s a beautiful message.
So when we try to see the story into your are either fully good or fully bad of course we will never get the full picture, the story just wasn´t written that way.

okay I've been reading a bunch of star wars books lately and I figured I'd review them here cause literally where else am I gonna talk about them
master and apprentice by claudia gray: I actually really loved this one! by far my favorite sw book I've read in a while. it's set before tpm, following qui-gon and obi-wan on a fairly routine mission but primarily focused on their relationship and how rocky it was in the beginning. I always love young obi books and this was no exception. I also really liked the writing style? often I can feel like sw books read kinda sterilized, esp disney canon like this one, presumably for some "brand integrity" shit, but this didn't read like that at all - it just felt like a rly good sci-fi novel. I'd had mixed experiences with claudia gray in the past, so this was a nice surprise.
brotherhood by mike chen: this was the other disney canon book I read, and although I still enjoyed it, I thought the writing was a little weaker than master & apprentice. this is set pretty soon after attack of the clones, and while it ostensibly focuses on anakin and obi-wan's changing relationship (hence the title), in reality they spent a large amount of the book apart, and it was pretty action-focused. it actually reminded me a little of the themes of secrets of the jedi, because both anakin's and obi-wan's povs dwelled frequently on their romantic attachments - padme and satine, respectively - in a clear narrative foil way. as someone who loved secrets of the jedi, I liked that part of it, but wished we had more interaction between anakin and obi-wan themselves.
survivor's quest by timothy zahn: this is a legends novel set after luke and mara's wedding, following them as they explore the wreckage of outbound flight and uncover a conspiracy. this was a good example of a slightly sterilized book - although zahn is obviously a gifted writer, and tried to explore nuance in luke and mara's relationship, the focus was still very much on the plot, and the relationship tidbits ended up feeling forced to me. I still enjoyed the book, but probably wouldn't reread it in a hurry.
tatooine ghost by troy denning: another legends novel, this one following han and leia shortly after their marriage. I only realized partly through that this one was released around the same time as attack of the clones hit theaters - while the plot is primarily about han and leia attempting to keep a rebellion code key out of imperial hands on tatooine, the "ghost" in the title is shmi skywalker, whose video journal leia finds and watches throughout the course of the book. as a result, we get a pretty exact summary of the events of the phantom menace and the rest of shmi's life, from leia's perspective. it was an interesting narrative device to use to frame leia's grappling with her father's identity. I wasn't able to fully enjoy the book, however - I felt like han acted kind of ooc throughout it, at times seeming to uncomfortably pressure leia to consider the idea of having children, or to resent her for her continued close involvement in the new republic.
these were the sw books on the top of my tbr, so idk when I'll get to more, but when I do I might make another post like this

Just as everyone else has been, I've been trying to urge the Mandalorian/live-action SW fans around me to watch Rebels in order to have the full context for Ahsoka.
And, as expected, it's kinda treated like a joke.
"Oh but that's not what I'm interested in!"
"It's for kids!"
"The Ahsoka show will give me the necessary context!"
It really exposes how people view Star Wars animation, and just animation as a whole. Does Rebels have a target audience of children? Yes, but the same could be argued for the Mandalorian. Grogu is an advertising/toy dream. If the show was more adult focused then you wouldn't be seeing as many goddamn Grogu and Mando childrens toys. It's allowed to get away with very limited swearing, but that's in part because it isn't limited to airing on the Disney Channel. On Disney+, they can skirt television rules more than they could if they aired it traditionally. But beyond stuff like that, the stories told in the live action shows are just... Kinda simple. It is made for kids to also understand it. Not a bad thing, but absolutely calls into question why animated SW media is being treated differently.
Rebels delves into the topics of Imperial rule, it doesn't shy away from depictions of death and violence (as much violence as they could get away with on Disney Channel). It isn't a perfect show, and I understand why people would be bored with it, but to not even give it a chance is just silly. If you are interested in Star Wars, are interested in the themes, then watching Rebels is just natural. Skip the first season if you're really so bothered by some humor for kids. You'd be surprised how many good stories the show has, some arguably better than a lot of the live action stuff.
But nah... People turn up their noses because it's animated, which obviously means it's inherently more childish and worse than live action. Christ. Lighten up.

Jedi Survivor Retrospective - Coruscant/A Hopeless Fight
"Someday when your children see this, they'll know the Jedi never stopped fighting for them." Cal Kestis
Tumblr media
After an optional cinematic recap with amazing music, we begin the game with Cal seemingly captured as he sees the former Jedi Temple now the Imperial Palace of the Empire. Outside of LEGO SW media, I think this is the first time we saw the Imperial Palace in visual media. The opening of this game serves as a foil to the first game's intro where Cal is hiding and unsure of himself, now Cal is more confident and mostly in control of the situation.
Coruscant is as oppressive as ever as Sejan forcibly removes people who are already living in poor conditions to benefit himself. It's quickly made apparent that the Senator is way over his head as Cal quickly turned the tables on him. I really like the bond between Cal and Bode..however in hindsight, we know why Bode made sure to tell Cal that he's providing for his daughter. And I love Cal turning the Senator's quote against him into a defiant statement.
After Gab is killed, we see a glimpse of Cal Ketstis' inner darkness emerging as he approaches the Ninth Sister with Lightsaber in hand ignoring Bode and Bravo's calls to him. Even the music fades as Cal's intent on avenging his comrades is all he can think about. Cal even uses the same Force trick that Trilla used in opening Fallen Order on a gunship to achieve more successful results as Cal takes the controls.
Tumblr media
Senator Sejan represents the corrupt politicians who traded democracy for "security" at the end of ROTS. Despite him claiming to do this for his people, it's clear with his lavish lifestyle and corrupt nature that he's really doing this for himself. I do find it funny how he was placed in the first trailer of this game as a major antagonist...when he was quickly dispatched by the Ninth Sister.
The Ninth Sister is revealed to be still alive after an ambiguous end to her fight in Fallen Order. Since then, she has become even more unhinged and rage-fueled, no doubt thanks to her humiliating loss at Cal's hands. A major theme for this game's villains is obsession. The Ninth Sister is our first look into that theme. It's clear she's been obsessed with killing Cal and it's all she wants to do. By the end, even when Cal tries calling out to Massana Tide (the Ninth Sister's true name), she can't break out of her obsession and what the Empire made her.
"It's time to set you free." Cal Kestis
Cal's growth is clearly shown as compared to the last game, he can better handle the Purge Troopers (interestingly wearing their Clone armor despite the game taking place in the same year as the Kenobi show) and even the Ninth Sister who went from being a major boss to the starter boss of this game. His dual blade stance now became a proper stance rather than just a few special moves.
Cal would also get along with Ezra on how the Empire uses their old photos for their wanted posters.
By the end, despite getting the intel, Cal feels hopeless about the impact he's making and has just lost his new family. With the Mantis now in dire need of repair, Cal has to seek out the original owner of the Mantis, Greez Dritus, who is now on the world Koboh. Little does he know that he will reunite with his old family in time.
I really love this section for capturing that bombastic SW opening action sequence. We also get to see how Cal is starting to feel the weight of the seemingly hopeless situation against the Empire.

As much as I still enjoy the older comics and books, my feelings about modern STAR WARS media are at best mixed. Many of the recent streaming shows (with the notable exception of ANDOR) have been especially dire, but to my mind, the rot set in long before that.
There have been a lot of terrible SW tie-ins over the years (the old Bantam novels were so bad that after a while I stopped even bothering to get them from the library), but I'm particularly antipathetic to THE CLONE WARS, which is now emerging as the core text of the new SW universe. (I refer here to the 2008 animated series, not the earlier Genndy Tartakovsky shorts, which I hated and found pointless, but were at least easy to ignore.)
One of the riskiest and most potentially troublesome things a spinoff or tie-in project can do is to go to war with its own source material. This is something that even STAR TREK: DEEP SPACE NINE ended up struggling with, despite that show's strengths; the writers couldn't hide their annoyance with some of the basic premises of the TNG-era future (like the Federation's abandonment of money), which at times became not so much a critique as an expression of writing staff frustration with dramatic rules they didn't make but weren't empowered to change.
That tension is also at the core of THE CLONE WARS, which is driven by an ill-disguised disdain for the SW prequel films the cartoon is ostensibly supposed to bridge. TCW, particularly in the early seasons where Lucas was still directly involved, takes exaggerated care to remain faithful to the details of the prequel storyline (for instance, the assertion in REVENGE OF THE SITH that Obi-Wan Kenobi has never previously met General Grievous face-to-face). However, it also plainly wants to redo the prequels, making their story and characters into something more like what the show's creators would've preferred to see in the first place. (Some of that revisionism may have come from Lucas himself, but it's continued in substantially similar ways since Lucasfilm was swallowed by the Mouse.) It's not hard to see where the creators of TCW are coming from, because the prequels were distinctly disappointing in many respects, from their appalling racism and antisemitic caricatures to their hilariously clunky dialogue to the inept handling of the Anakin-Padme romance. However, in the show's zeal to fix what it sees as the films' flaws, THE CLONE WARS also seeks to dismantle their thematic integrity.
Where Lucas might have taken the SW prequel trilogy if 9/11 and the subsequent wars in Afghanistan and Iraq hadn't occurred is anyone's guess, but ATTACK OF THE CLONES and REVENGE OF THE SITH are plainly constructed as a surprisingly angry critique of the politics of the Wubbya era and the invasion of Iraq: The Jedi and the Republic are tricked into going to war on false pretenses, engaging in a conflict whose real purpose is to undermine the foundations of republican government and bring about the rise of a fascist dictatorship. By the end of ATTACK OF THE CLONES, where the war begins, the heroes have already lost: The military they're building is unmistakably an early iteration of the Imperial war machine seen in the original films, and the clone troopers are or will shortly become stormtroopers. Aside from being doomed by the narrative, Anakin Skywalker in Episodes 2 and 3 is a moral and emotional wreck: an immature, unstable young soldier — trained (and used) by an institution with no regard for his well-being that repeatedly urges him to reject normal human connections in favor of acetic martial purity — whose volatility and hazy grasp of right and wrong make him a dangerous, genocidal monster with no compunctions about murdering children in his paranoia and rage. None of the other prequel characters is remotely sympathetic: Obi-Wan Kenobi is a contemptible fool whose stubborn incuriousness (even when Dooku tells him quite directly what's really going on) and blind faith in the institutions he serves contribute materially to both the moral collapse of his apprentice and the ultimate triumph of interstellar fascism. Yoda is by the rules of our world a war criminal, whose eventual response to his failure to defeat Palpatine in single combat is to run away and make the brutal rise of the Empire everybody else's problem. Padme, meanwhile, is Anakin's enabler and apologist (she's an accessory after the fact to an explicit act of genocide, and she marries him anyway!) before becoming another of his victims. That's harrowing stuff, for all its clumsiness of execution, and, Lucas being Lucas, it's not at all subtle.
The central project of THE CLONE WARS is a cowardly obfuscation of the admittedly extreme grimness of the prequel films. It makes Anakin stable and competent, a capable if somewhat reckless leader who's a far cry from his deranged, tantrum-throwing live-action counterpart, a compassionate mentor with his own adorable teenage apprentice rather than a child-murdering fascist lunatic. The show also works overtime to rehabilitate Obi-Wan, Padme, and Yoda (who really doesn't deserve it). More alarmingly than that, TCW seeks to legitimize what the live-action films present as an unequivocally phony war, and blunt the edges of the prequels' original critique. In the films, the clones embody a military-industrial complex that's fundamentally inimical to the survival of justice or democracy — manufactured soldiers (and, pointedly, men of color) who are considered disposable war materiel even by the Jedi, and who are conditioned to follow any order delivered in a reasonably authoritative tone of voice. THE CLONE WARS wants desperately to reassure you that the clones are actually good guys (which it seeks to accomplish in part by making them white), noble and heroic true friends of our Jedi heroes who would obey them even if they didn't have to, and whose eventual heel turn has to be mechanically coerced. Moreover, TCW and its repulsive spinoff, THE BAD BATCH, take pains to distance the clones from the stormtroopers of the original films, qualitatively, morally, and ethically. Of course they're not stormtroopers who carry out massacres without question (even though we see them do just that in REVENGE OF THE SITH and in flashbacks to that period), they're Good Soldiers and heroes! They're victims of the evil space-wizard, just like the Jedi children and innocent people we watched them slaughter, and most of them feel terrible about it! The clones can't be bad guys, because then people wouldn't want to buy their toys. It's as disingenuous and cynical as the live-action films were dark, and it's completely nonsensical within the narrative bounds Lucas originally set out.
I'm not very fond of the prequels, which were not what I would have expected or wanted to see, and I can't blame Lucasfilm people for feeling similarly. However, I think that some creative levers really only go one way: You can take something simplistic and make it complex, or take something that's pretty black and white and introduce many shades of gray, but going the other way rarely works, and often feels insulting to boot. I did see the prequels, even though I didn't enjoy them very much, and while I don't begrudge anyone for wanting something lighter and less doomstruck, trying to tell me those movies were about something different than they obviously were has an "Ignore your lying eyes" vibe that I'm always going to find suspect.

I figured out a way Mara Jade (and a Jade-Skywalker baby) can be incorporated into SW canon
Wanna hear it?
Baby
So I figure that Mara could be another early Jedi student of Luke, still an ex-imperial, but not Palpatine's personal assassin, just an imperial intelligence agent, or alternatively she is a part of a cadre of Force sensitive spies/agents, the results of the Inquisitors mass kidnapping of Force sensitive children, but anyways...
Mara and Luke met not long after the war's end, and although Mara has talent, she ultimately chose not to join up and be a Jedi as a lifestyle, but Mara still helps the Luke out, finding artifacts, documents, potential recruits, etc, and two remained close, having a casual on/off relationship, which leads me to...
Mara ultimately conceived a child with Luke, the baby being born in 26.5 ABY (same time as Ben Skywalker in legends), the kid is a girl and her name is Nellith (the name is a reference to what was going to be the name of Luke's sister before Lucas opted to combine the character with Leia) now Mara chose not to tell Luke about this, as she knew how important rebuilding the Jedi was and didn't want to distract Luke, and maybe she got some bad vibes from Ben Solo and didn't want Nellith around him, but Mara did intend to bring Nellie to the Jedi and meet Luke eventually when everyone was ready
And then disaster (28 ABY)
Luke is missing, his temple is destroyed, his students gone, and there's some dark side warlord of an Imperial Remnant faction leaving no stone unturned looking for Luke
So Mara and Nellith go to ground, they effectively disappear, keeping a low profile and out of sight of the First Order/Kylo Ren, especially once the new war begins, of course, Mara can't completely disappear, her conscious won't allow it, so she acts as an informant for the Resistance, even keeping direct contact with Leia
and although Mara never tells Leia about Nellith and who her father is, Leia figures things out on her own, but says nothing out of respect for Mara's privacy and wishes
And after ROS, Mara decides its time, and brings Nellith to Rey and Finn, intending to help them rebuild the Jedi, finish her own training, and let Nellith follow the path of her father

What makes a [Star Wars]?
What makes a piece of SW media have that signature style, that flair? That... je na se quis?
Star Wars draws from many inspirational sources. From John Wayne, to Kurosawa, to Flash Gordon. And all of these sources make up the core elements of Star Wars. But what is the secret sauce that makes fans want more?
Let's take the original film; What is it about this film that attracted fans in the first place? One thing was it's accessibility; it is a family friendly romp through space that didn't have the extensive grit of some films (meant for an older audience), or the intense metaphor and metaphysical concepts of other space films, and it didn't treat its audience like they were children, despite being "family friendly."
The Christian anti-anything-magic movement sure didn't hurt bringing attention and notoriety to the movie either.
Light Sabers and Force powers have become an ubiquitous replacement for the idea of "witchcraft" as well. Which makes a kind of substitute for religious nuts to say "oh it's not black magic, it's start wars".
Plus the black magic was controlled by the bad guys anyway!
But what is the staying power of these movies? It follows the fighting choreography of martial arts movies, and includes the same kinds of morals and lessons taught in those eastern epics.
But why does it have staying power? As opposed to something like Flash Gordon? Why aren't we culturally "Oh those silly boomers and their imaginary laser swords from BACK IN THE DAY. lol"
"Remember when [lightsabers] were a thing?" -- a reminiscent quote that will never be said.
In the First Movie; Luke meets a dirty sand Hobo, and then his surrogate parents are deep fried. This institutes several concepts all at once.
1) His parents (aunt and uncle) are pushing him to become an upstanding citizen of the empire.
2) The empire which has been established as the good force in the universe, wants to exterminate this single family of farmers for *seemingly no reason*
3) we immediately see that what's Good is bad, and what's bad is the only option.
As the dirty space hobo takes Luke, convinces him to sell his car on the spot to buy a plane ticket on a smuggler's freighter to God knows where, and ends up arrested by the imperial fleet, because now Luke is definitely a wanted criminal by association.
And ended up accomplice to murder of a handful of imperial soldiers.
This is our introduction to the series.
And we're told that the dirty Space Hobo is the good guy, and the GOD DAMN MILITARY GENERAL, who is on a mission of peace; is the bad guy.
Which, we later find out is Luke's daddy. And the only reason Luke was attacked was because the emperor *knew* it would help sustain his control over said GODDAMNED MILITARY GENERAL.
Fans might tell you it was because they were associated with the Dirty Sand Hobo, or that the Aunt and Uncle were secretly [spice traders]. But we know the truth, because Luke doesn't.
And the entire series questions what is really the good, right, and just thing to do, compared to what truly is evil... And it does so without explicitly stating it.
We're shown that the empire isn't above a few billion casualties to get what they want, even if it's to silence otherwise peaceful protesting.
Unless Coruscant is responsible for a [Space Pearl Harbor] and are actually enemy combatants against the Empire who won't settle down. But that's never really clarified either. Nor does any SW:Media suggest it's the case.
Just political dissidence.
[The Return of the Jedi] denoting Vader's fall from grace to the light side of the force; is important. Because Luke Skywalker doesn't start his own Empire. He doesn't start a new republic.
He just excised a cancer. The darkest part of the empire, in order to let the rest of the universe thrive. That it ended up toppling the entire empire is really the empire's fault for having an organization that couldn't keep running after one guy died of old age.
Where the prequel trilogy goes wrong; is that Anakin is never shown to be doing what he thinks is right. He's a soldier following orders. And he simply changes master and follows his orders instead.
This throws Audiences off, because to [Anakin - Youngling Slayer] the order to do that was the same as any order the Jedi Council gave him. Synonymous.
He saw this atrocity as the trolly problem. Sacrifice a few tainted apples, save the rest of the galaxy's children.
But the movies; they don't do a good job of demonstrating *why*. It's just oh, Anakin was good, now he's evil. I guess that's just what happens?
It showcases his inability to see murder as anything other than a tool for peace, imposed by the council and war itself. But the series *doesn't* do a real good job of making us Sympathize with Anakin.
He literally looks like any other random edgelord. There's no rhyme or reason, he just goes hard in the paint for "REVENGE".
What is he revenging? His own hurt Ego? Anakin was shown to be above that, but struggling with the things he was asked to do, and the trauma he endured. And the knowledge he had that Republic Council and the Jedi Council all refused to listen too, despite his proficiency.
They were so distracted with their own machinations; they didn't see the enemy on their doorstep. And Sidious used that as a way to tweak Anakin's understanding of the situation.
But none of that is demonstrated in *that* series... Instead; we the audience are treated as children... The bad guy is definitely a bad guy, the good guys are definitely good guys, and nobody understands why anybody is fighting to begin with *except* that there's good and bad.
And that part of the prequel trilogy is good *because* it makes the audience question good and bad. But then; it doesn't make the audience question if what Anakin does is good or bad.
It didn't go far enough to complete the entire illustration of Anakin as being a force for good in his own mind.
The next trilogy, takes all the elements from all the media over the years and tries to take all the beat parts while writing a new story that isn't simply repeating the old canon. And it makes a lot of poignant assertions.
Ren thinks he's doing the right thing. And Stimpy, well, she's caught up in a shitty way of living after being dumped off by God knows who in God knows where to relive both Anakin and Luke's childhood's simultaneously, except without parents of any kind at all.
As if it were some sort of experiment to see if a wild child would end up civilized.
And at the end of The Most Recent Jedi, the single.most profound point is made. As Luke tries to save the force tree that is getting burned down and Yoda convinces him that it's ok to let it burn.
Luke Skywalker is the first Jedi in a long while to master both sides of the force, as visualized in the end of the movie.
A true master. But remembered only for his legend. And his Green Laser Sword thing.

The compassionate Queen Dalné
Dalné was a human female, who served as the Monarch of Naboo around 3 BBY. Although the kings and queens of the past actually ruled, Dalné's role was mostly ceremonial, as Naboo's concerns now rested in the hands of Emperor Palpatine's governor, Moff Quarsh Panaka. (This is also symbolised by symbol of Empire behind the Queen.)
Though the queen resented this, she was unable to countermand or resist it. A sad chance appeared, when Panaka was assassinated and before another Imperial governor was appointed, she did her best to enforce measures to protect miners on Naboo's moon Onoam.
The painting shows her during that small moment of triumph. She is surrounded by relief boxes with Naboo royal crest, children of miners and a mining machine. There is also a hologram of Onoam at her feet.
Dalné also has a beautiful dress, which she wore during her first visit to the mines on the moon.

you're asian. you should understand. do some research into what a tool of imperialism and colonialization and war, what a tool of racial fetishization """sex work"""" is.
Ah. And there it is.
-
You had quite a different tune just three asks ago:
youre 16. women which have been trafficked their entire childhoods, which have been sex slaves, which have been "sex workers" have more a right to speak than you, im sorry but you quite literally dont understand. i am nonwestern. i was poor.
stop with the fucking sex work shit because you think anything else is offensive. its privileged. its privileged western bullshit which is offensive as fuck and speaks over those of us who are Actually impacted by this god damn narrative.
Make up your mind. Am I evil privileged white-adjacent imperialist oppressor or poor fellow victim oppressed uwu femme of color? Ignorant invading outsider or alike comrade who’d understand your struggles? Person Deserving Of A Voice here or person who should shut up about this?
Do you think someone like me with my particular marginalizations and experiences would see your offer as kind generous benevolent helpful education, or as yet another example of the misogynistic and adultist (and racist) paternalism I have been subjected to throughout my life?
Do you think someone like me with my particular marginalizations and experiences am the type to buy into moral panic, to leave behind rigorous examination the moment the buzzwords come out, to cave to sex negativity the moment I am pressured with think of the poor women and think of the children? I’m a freak and a deviant and a degenerate, along with “(C )SA survivor” and “feminist of color.” I feel no loyalty to you and your crowd. I have nothing for the people who wished to tokenize me and then call for my murder the moment I stepped out of the Acceptable sj circle and I have no interest in repetitions of the same argument that has been used trying to justify my and my communities’ extermination (“if you say/do that you are literally offending/harming every single rape survivor”--“rape apologist/enabler” weaponized as a marker of an Immoral person to level violence and abuse against, and not just to indicate someone with specific sets of beliefs that actually enable/support rape)
“You’re Asian. You should understand.”
And then, not one sentence later:
“do some research into what a tool of imperialism and colonialization and war, what a tool of racial fetishization """sex work"""" is.”
Gotta pick one, anon. Asian, so should understand? Or privileged bourgeois white-adjacent westerner, so doesn’t understand, and should do their research?
All of the above which ties fairly well into one of the things I answered to your first ask: SWERFs’ habit of tokenizing the marginalized, treating us all as monoliths, then silencing us if we disagree or don’t fit the narrative, or immediately jumping to a “poor deluded brainwashed lost little lambs” narrative (which they of course are immune to, and can “save” us from), but also going back to tokenization and agreement if they find us useful. “Privileged” and “oppressed,” “imperialist” and “colonized” becoming idpol buzzwords instead of meaningful material class indicators.
I usually do slightly different discourses here; sw crim vs legalization vs decrim hasn’t really been one of my major topics of interest compared to others. I’ve only properly posted about it with my own commentary very few times over the past year, so I’m not exactly sure where this is coming from, but I have several guesses:
- yesterday on fedi I live-tweeted my reactions to a sex-negative TIRF piece I was reading and felt annoyed about. the portions I screenshotted might’ve mentioned sw a few times, though it wasn’t the focus of my critique, but maybe one of you people with a vendetta regarding my discoursing decided to follow me here? wouldn’t be the first time that’s happened
- yesterday, on my alt, I reblogged a post calling out a “transfeminist” for citing Esperanza Fonseca’s SWERF piece to a transfeminist reading list, and calling out her paternalistic sentiments in attempting to speak for Asians and the third world as a westerner (I put in some snarky tags but I didn’t think it would catch much notice)
- several months ago I posted a few quotes from Kate Zen Joy’s pro-decrim Medium essay responding to Esperanza’s, and reblogged it with a long personal rant about some unpleasant dynamics I have observed in swerf discourse and attempts by westerners and sympathizers at discussing Asian/Third World communism (the thing only received one note, a reblog from a friend who has since been suspended)
- on this blog I’ve also reblogged some other callouts of Esperanza and AF3IRM for their carceral proposals regarding prostitution and covert racist transmisogyny, and I reblogged one a few weeks ago with some snarky tag commentary (but no one has put any notes on that one either yet)
- two days ago some radfem decided to spread trafficking conspiracy theories in the notes of a leftist post. I responded, they doubled down and were rude to me, I checked their blog and saw several rightwing posts. I blocked them and posted the interaction to my blog. my post was not tagged with any swerf/radfem tags.
- a few months ago my mutual was arguing with some terfs about sw, and I decided to add my take to a few of the reblogs, and blocked everyone, and shortly after someone decided to traumadump in my inbox in graphic detail complete with adultist insults and other patronizing language, but no one else harassed me beyond that
- earlier this year some terf tagged me to accuse me of hating third-world cis WOC by derailing a post about femicide (I didn’t; it was someone else who’d had this URL before they deleted and I took it), and a lot of terfs reblogged the OG to dunk on the previous aronarchy, but no one else apart from her complained at me directly (apart from another vague anon a few months later)
I’m not even really active in arguing with people on Tumblr at all (anymore). Apart from that I’ve retweeted and posted a few things on Twitter but none of this is much at all compared to the people who devote their entire days and life’s work to defending decrim and arguing with swerfs, many of whom are (T)WOC and/or sex trafficking survivors, I’m really not sure what could’ve warranted or provoked four separate anonymous asks sent to me almost completely out of the blue to harass me. Callout post I haven’t noticed yet? Or just plain stalking? I don’t know.
Again, I challenge you to simply replace “sex work” with “____ work,” “____” for literally anything else, any other occupation, any other form of labor, any other form of labor which involves coercion or exploitation. I ask you to differentiate between “has been used as a tool of,” “has involved,” and “inherently equals/involves/requires.” Keep your rude condescension to yourself. Keep your bold fucking assumptions about my supposed lack of knowledge to yourself. Shut up about my privileged and marginalized demographic traits until you have an accurate map of which is which, and stop treating one like the other.
I would say “do your own research,” but I’m not really sure which recommended readings I would start with--my stance is based off several years of listening to various sex workers’ experiences and opinions here and there, and reading swerf/authcom pieces and interrogating them for their internal inconsistencies and spending time thinking about their arguments and other arguments (I only started actually writing them down very recently). And some things some discoursers/activists I admire have written, but I don’t have many of those saved, and some have been wiped from the internet. Mainly building off a larger theory base of materialism/anti-essentialism, several years of unpleasant experiences regarding radfem spaces and following the flow of their/your arguments to their roots, and a great deal of lived experience regarding christian fundamentalism and purity culture (and things from/for the perspective of someone like me don’t seem to be written down in longform very much at this point in time).
Like--I’m a very tired, very traumatized person, I stopped trying to hold puritan hands a long time ago, I don’t have the time or the spoons to entertain your bullshit and try to talk you through all of our disagreements all while you hurl insults at me, I’m really not interested and I’ve already wasted a lot of time I needed to do other things on writing out surface-level responses to all these today, I would really appreciate if you just fucked off from my blog forever and left me the fuck alone, and all your swerf friends with you.
Get out.

Ghost Music
I never thought I’d feel sad listening to the Imperial March from the OT on the radio....but I am.
It reminds me of the days when I loved SW.
As a bullied child with undiagnosed autism, I smuggled the tie in books to school just because having them close made me feel good. Han Solo was my first love, Leia the first heroine that truly awed me - and I saw a lot of myself in Luke.
The PT had their faults, but were still hugely enjoyable and set up the continuing story in the OT.
Then we got the PT.
Initially I didn’t want to see them as I’d learned of Han’s face beforehand, but, I did. And although I think they made a mistake in rehashing plot elements from the OT, I still enjoyed the films....and I enjoyed them because of Kylo Ren.
Oddly, I didn’t actually realise this was the reason until I saw TROS. Adam’s limited screentime made me realise how dull the trio of ‘heroes’ were. Daisy, John and Oscar did their best, but they were not in the same league as Han, Luke and Leia. They worked best when they were apart.
But Adam shone every time he was on screen. His character was the most fascinating, complex character in SW - in fact, one of my all time fave movie characters. And Adam played him to perfection.
TROS killed SW for me when they killed him. Even up to recently, I nursed a private hope that somehow they’d bring him back. But, it’s obvious now that the future will be Rey and her group of Jedi padawns, with Finn as her fellow Jedi.
And I can’t even put into words how little this interests me.
TROS made me dislike both of them, but it has also made me despise the Jedi. The PT showed them in an unflattering light, but Rey, Jedi Dogma Goddess.....she truly epitomises everything I dislike about the Jedi. And I have zero desire to see Finn again post Boyega’s childish behaviour on twitter...to say nothing of the unkind things he said about Loan Tran.
Most of all, the Skywalkers died with Kylo/Ben. As long as he lived, Anakin, Padme, Han, Luke and Leia would have lived on in his children. But, now they are gone forever. Rey will NEVER BE A SKYWALKER. She’s a Palpatine. Even if she makes little Reys with Finn (which I seriously doubt), they will be descended from Palpatine, not Anakin.
I chose to leave the forums I still posted on because one fed up mod requested that I ‘stopped depressing everyone’. And they were right. I realised that there is absolutely nothing positive I can say about SW nowadays. Unlike many forum members, I’m not into the Clone Wars, or Rebels. The adventures of Ahsoka, Sabine and Ezra leave me cold. The Skywalkers were SW for me, as I’ve said before, over and over again.
There are Finn and Rey fans on those forums that are thrilled to bits at the prospect of their story continuing, and apart from the toxic harpies on the JCF, I have nothing against them - and my continuing presence on those forums was only making them miserable. I was asked to be more upbeat about forthcoming material...and realised it was impossible to do so.
So I quit.
The worst thing about the ST is that unlike the PT, it has destroyed the entire saga for me. Some are fine with how it ended.
I’m not.
I’m heartbroken. And I always will be.
And that is why hearing Darth Vader’s theme nowadays only makes me feel sad.

«────── « HEADCANON » ──────»
Been writing biographies today, and I already have a SW!Verse for Apollyon (For Honor).
Base concept is she was a member of Death Watch, then ended up in the Imperial's grasp after they seized/glassed Mandalore. Ultimately, though, she felt the Imperials weren't doing enough, and ended up betraying them to effectively reform a proper, Death Watch-esque group of her own.
This, of course, is the Blackstone Legion. Wandering Mandalorians who still subscribe to the ideals of Death Watch, but who don't wish to remain in hiding like the Children of the Watch/the Covert.
I even used MandoCreator to create a hypothetical set of armor for her.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I wanted to keep the bulky, intimidating silhouette of her canonical armor, so there's a few site/custom pieces here. As for the orange, it comes from the canonical Blackstone Legion crest:
Tumblr media
Which stays the same within her SW!Verse, maybe except for the knight helmet being a more traditional Mandalorian helmet.
Very much would have been close allies with Pre Vizsla. Very much would have been amicable with Darth Maul. Very much still the brutal warlord she is in her canon verse.

Hey Sam! For the fanfic ask gake how about A with Kheresankh, or K, or Y?
MAIA MY LOVE!!!!!!! Thank you so much for submitting!! I hope you've had a great day 💜💜💜
A: How did you come up with the title to [Kheresankh]?
Babe, you have enabled me lol
Okay, so a lot of the culture I've created as one of the native cultures of Jedha, where Danai's from, is based heavily in Ancient Egyptian mythology. It'll be kind of a cross of Ancient Egyptian influences and canon-Jedha influences (Muslim and Jewish regions in the Middle East). There will be Far East influences as well (the Whills and Jedi), and some others, but Danai's culture is largely based in Ancient Egyptian mythology.
My hyperfixation is coming through lol
Anyway, the name for Kheresankh:
There is an Ancient Egyptian name I found - Kheredankh. It literally means "Child of Life." I modified it slightly to be Kheresankh. But overall, it means the same thing. "Child of Life." Or, more accurately, for SW, "Daughter of the Force."
I kind of ascribe to the belief that all Jedi and Force-sensitives are the Force's children in some way, not just Anakin.
K: What is the angstiest idea you've ever come up with?
Personally, I think my Crosshair fic is a genuine doozy. Ya know, where he fantasizes about a life with reader while he's lying in wait to snipe her. 😈😈😈
I've also toyed with the idea of writing a little fic about Chirrut Imwe. I've always believed that he was slightly Force-sensitive. Not enough to wield it in the way of a Jedi. But occasionally he'll feel something warm inside him, and he'll know that Baze is smiling at him. He'll feel a sudden spot of cold hovering over his shoulder and he'll know there's Imperial troops behind him. He'll get a headache when there's a storm rolling in. And a shiver up his spine when there's a warning in the air. Every once in a while, something will forcefully curl his toes, or make his finger twitch, or compel him to turn in a certain direction.
And then, right there, on the beaches of Scarif, Chirrut sees something, actually sees something. He knows from the way the actions of his sight don't match with what he's hearing that it's a vision of some kind. And in it, he sees himself. He sees his lips moving in an age-old mantra. He sees carnage around him. He can feel the desperation through it, and the acceptance of it as well. So Chirrut watches as he falls, and Baze run to him.
And Chirrut still walks out there anyway.
Angsty enough?
Y: A character you want to protect?
This is fucking rude. You want me to choose one (1) character? No.
Fives (literally the tragedy of Fives makes my heart ache)
Echo (pls god leave him alone hasn't he had enough)
Commander Fox (Fox-antis DNI I am dead serious we love and cherish him in this house)
Jacen Syndulla (smol bean!!!!!)
Ezra Bridger (when will my boy return from war)
Viktor from Arcane (he fully deserves to go insane but like, he also deserves hugs and blankets and good coffee)
Frodo Baggins (I don't think I need to elaborate on this one, the amount of people who still get his story and arc wrong astounds me)
Susan Pevensie (Like Frodo, many people get her story and arc wrong, and I will gatekeep her until people change)
Dr. Spencer Reid (writers from season 8 on can fuck right off with making my boy sad. Aaron Hotchner deserves protecting too)
Morgana from BBC Merlin (who, despite being well within her rights to turn out the way she did, deserved fucking better)
Every single one of my friends' OCs (I am eyeballing some of you in particular, and you all know damn well who you are you cruel, cruel beings)
Need I go on, lol

for a long time my Republic main was my Commando, Zekket (started life as a Twi'lek but always headcanon Togruta, naturally made the switch once available) who I've recently started to imagine connecting with Rusk post-KOTFE
He's not my story's Outlander - despite Vyzzir (SI) being my main, he's more on a fun journey to explore Dark Side options, his story in my canon has him staying on the Dark Council under Vowrawn - my Outlander is Jelrin Eis, a mostly-LS Consular - but I still imagine the Jedi Knight team becoming fractured in the Zakuulan war, so Rusk would be operating in his thing you find him in the Alliance alerts
Zekket, for the record, was in love with Jaxo. I enjoyed her as a love interest and wholeheartedly wove her into his story as his personal canon; he started as an honest-to-Force lightsider, idolized the Jedi commitment to peace and nonaggression wherever possible (he has a cousin who he looked up to who was very much a chivalry/bushido/honorable Jedi who died in the Battle of Corellia), always did the Right Thing even to the point of pissing off Garza, I think he spared every former Havoc member you could
Until the Thing with Jaxo happened
I remember literally having my heart pounding realizing what was about to happen, putting off the choice with as many dialogue choices as possible til I got the one where Jorgan was like "we're all soldiers. she knew the risks. there's only one right choice here" and he, of course, saved the prisoners.
This was unexpected to the way I'd imagined/played him, but the curveball honestly made gameplay so much more interesting....because that absolutely broke him.
I actually sent him to Tython and had him just hang out there for a while (in my story it was several months), when I played him I mostly did crafting/GTN stuff rather than any missions, because he was so wracked by what he'd had to do, and he was fighting hard to find the same clarity and compassion he'd always idolized....
....but he didn't.
He then flipped entirely. He didn't go like full-selfish-cruel dark side, but he never spared another Imperial or Sith. Ever. Not even surrender/prisoners/civilians. Took every weapon, took every harsher choice he could. He was still a diehard Republic soldier, and believed he was doing the right thing, but his rage and spite for the Empire honestly took over a lot of his decision-making
He also, not suprisingly, started ignoring a lot of command orders that tried to temper any recklessness; the same command that got Jaxo killed wasn't someone he trusted anymore, making him much more of a loose cannon
In my "endgame" stories for the fate of all my characters post-whatever-SWTOR-comes-up-with, he leads the strike team on Vyzzir's stronghold, and personally is the one who kills Crythos, Vette (my headcanon Vette romanced my darkside SW and had a kind of thrill-of-the-battle Bonnie and Clyde dynamic), and ultimately, Xalek
(Xalek's death is what made Vyzzir surrender; for all his lawful-evil Sithness, he'd never gotten over losing his brother as a child, and Xalek had very much replaced that empty hole in his life; despite having his relationship with another Twi'lek slave on Balmorra (hence Crythos's birth) I have written Vyzzir mostly as aroace, with his most important relationship being his comradeship with Xalek. If it had happened maybe 20 years prior, Xalek's death would have fueled a formidable rage that would have probably turned the tide of the whole battle, but with the crumbling of the Empire and his advanced age, losing his son, most apprentices, and then the most important being in his life all in the span of a single day was too much)
Vyzzir was fine with Zekket being ready to execute him despite surrendering - he pretty much expected nothing less - and was only spared because Utuli (ironically, Vyzzir's brother who grew up as my canon Consular, at least for the main story) was there. He'd assumed Utuli died when they were children, Utuli was the one who figured it out that they'd both lived; his main virtue in the way I play all his choices is mercy, so it made sense for him to prevent Zekket from executing him despite being a Dark Council member, though there was certainly a struggle with Jedi-detachment in him when realizing it was his brother
ANYWAY back to Zekket, he and Rusk obviously align on a lot of things in the way they approach their duties as Republic troopers. I could see them teaming up; I'm not sure about romance between them but honestly I haven't ruled it out. The idea of them finding someone who Gets It; of them first fueling off each other's bloodlust, but slowly starting to recognize how it was eating them away by seeing it in each other (seeing someone they care about consumed by anger and guilt and violence and realizing that they're hurting themselves and other people, then in turn realizing "wait I'm doing the same thing") and finding some form of healing in that relationship is something I find intriguing
Anyway I don't often post so much of my SWTOR story but here's a peek into it
