#children's march

I'm thinking about the second theme in Children's March (starts with a euphonium solo) and how it was probably completely by chance that it works really really nicely on brass instruments. That whole melody is based around natural breaks between the Bb and D partials making it really easy to define the notes, especially on a conical instrument like a eupho or on a slide instrument like trombone. This means that each individual note is much easier to hear, making the overall melody clearer and more compelling. However, I think that Grainger didn't give a shit about brass instruments so this is a complete accident. (he just thought it was a good melody and put it in the brass because idfk)

The absolutely amazing melodic writing backed up by even better harmonies and countermelodies????

The entire piece just comes together to feel like one coherent amazing thing

I would not hesitate to say that children's march is better than anything composed in the classical period

I might even say that it's better than Lincolnshire posy

There's a reason that it's one of the most iconic wind orchestra pieces and I think that it's an absolute shame that there are musicians who have never heard it because they play string instruments

Alberta school teachers are being targeted by a planned convoy “parade” next week in the latest wave of far-right protests targeting schools and educators.

Leading the planned “one million march for children” event is Benita Pedersen, a familiar face among Alberta’s far-right and a key organizer for Take Back Alberta during this year’s provincial election.

“I’m one of the main coordinators,” Pedersen confirmed to PressProgress. “I am in partnership with individuals from the groups ‘Alberta 4 Liberty’ and ‘YEG United’.”

Pedersen says her “one million march for children” is protesting “sexual education,” claiming parents are unable to “opt-out” because she believes lessons about sex and gender are being taught in every single school subject.

Fields of Mistria fankids #1: March

I’m not sure if Fields of Mistria is planning to implement a kids system, but I got inspired by Harvest Moon and Fire Emblem Children Mechanics and wanted to try my hand at designing looks for the kids of the bachelors and bachelorettes!

Anyway, let’s talk about March’s child! (My partner started calling her April so I might stick with that lol)

Listen, I think March would be a girl dad… see my vision

She ends up with a terrible attitude problem because her dad spoils her rotten

Not like, all the time, she’s just easy to explode

To him she’s an angel though, she can’t say no to her dad and he can’t say no to her either

Inherits the creativity and the passion to just, make stuff. Already shaping and molding clay or coloring the walls (to her parents dismay) or anything else she can get her hands on

Inherits her dad’s natural hair, she spent her childhood wondering when the red hair would grow in

She’s next in line to take over the family’s blacksmithing business, the responsibility stresses her out

Still, she diligently pays attention to her father’s lessons, but she’d rather ACTUALLY be doing the smithing instead of just observing

The last (and first) time he let her work the forge, she hurt herself really badly. He won’t let her touch it again until he determines she’s ready…

[Seasonal Wardrobe, Spring -> Summer -> Autumn -> Winter + hair down]

I don’t think her wardrobe would be girly or extravagant, but practical with some hand-me-down pieces (not that March doesn’t buy her stuff, I think she just likes wearing her dad’s old jackets and stuff and feeling cool like him)

Also, she can work on her arts and crafts better in simpler clothing

Also her dad definitely spends forever brushing and styling her hair because, as per usual, he feels it just has to be perfect. Getting worked up is his favorite hobby after all
