The Flux/Series 13 was a super fun series. (fair warning; spoilers ahead)
Am I a fan of the fact we were starved for content for so long just to get 6 episodes and a few specials in like what 3 years? No. But the episodes we DID get were so great!
I could feel the intent to inspire wonder in the world-building of the Whoniverse again. I heard lines purposively written to punch out a few cheap laughs while moving the plot forward. These are things that are inherent to the legacy of Doctor Who. Whimsy, coy humor, and satire.
Where certain plot points had fallen short of expectation, it was clear Chibs had taken at least some of that feedback and applied it to making the 13th series a memorable one.
Also:
Tumblr media
Karvanista! Who's a good boy?! 🤗 Wait, hold on, maybe that's too presumptuous. Who am I to judge anyone's moral status on appearance alone? 🤭
Such a fun character with a classic Doctor Who "secret backstory". On a deeper fan appreciation perspective, this series was and still very much is a sandbox for creative innovation.
The side characters we met in these 6 episodes felt so well established and grounded in the narrative. Eustacius Jericho facing his death in a poignantly heroic way, Vinder & Bel's love story, Dan's earnest appreciation of Liverpool (and most importantly history), heck even Claire was worth her salt as someone to revolve the story around.
Was she captivating? Well, we're talking about narrative structure here so *clearing throat; failing to hide obvious blushing* no? I mean, no. She's really just a vessel for the Weeping Angels to have a voice which makes for an interesting plot device but it also sidelines her own independent will in the story. Still, when that's a "weak point", you're doing well!
Tumblr media
Also, Yaz was incredible and I felt like we were finally able to grasp at her individual companion status. Prior to the departure of "the fam", she was the prototypical companion choice but we were splitting time with Graham & Ryan. A common fear people had before the series came out was the inclusion of Dan Lewis being an obnoxious and obvious replacement for Graham... but I don't believe his presence in the story had that lasting effect.
In fact, I think of the scenes we had with Yaz, Eustacius, and Dan as being a time for Yaz to shine in particular as a leader. Clever, calm, and concerted in her efforts. Yaz's demeanor is the only reason that facet of the journey was successful. Her relationship with the Doctor was empowering in that way we impact others through positive experiences. She pushed herself to become more motivated as our time with her moved along and we were rewarded with a meaningful degree of success in her arc through this story.
Plus her love for the Doctor felt so real; so fated to be one-sided.
Rose's romantic attachment to 9/10 had the advantage of an entire plot built around her; elevating her importance to the Doctor as a being we came to know, for a time, as Bad Wolf.
With Yaz, she is, in fact, an ordinary human who doesn't get to have some immense cosmically significant role with a title that gets plastered across the whole of the universe for the Doctor to piece together like a puzzle. She is an incredibly smart and capable person; she is also mortal.
Say what have you about Yaz + 13 (and I have my opinions too of them never kissing) but the Doctor keeping a distance from Yaz while acknowledging her feelings was still rather intentional and thematically moving.
You learn you're this being known as "The Timeless Child" and you've lost innumerable lifetimes of memories while beings you encounter ON THE REGULAR are persistently trying to tear the universe like a chew toy for their pleasure? Sorry, love. Maybe attachment to a human isn't a wise choice after all...
It's a decision made in a moment and a moment is all Yaz & the Doctor have. It adds levels to the tragedy of a romance with such a being that can travel all of time and space.
"All of time and space but no room for me?"
Tumblr media
-a line I may have written for Yaz before it was all over
🥹
Maybe I'll write some fan fiction one day around The Flux. Around 13 & Yaz. Maybe something with Karvanista & a version of the Doctor forgotten to time.
Anywho, I love this show. I love it for all it's many eras. I love it for many different reasons. I truly believe value can be had in finding those aspects of enjoyment even when one Doctor or one era speaks more to us individually because what does the opposite hold? What does boundless criticism of "the writing" ever truly amount to?
The internet is teeming with "expert opinions" on how Doctor Who should have been made after every new season but gods is it the rarest thing to find people who choose to love it for everything it has already been and everything it can always continue to be...
That's all from me for now, my lovelies. 💞 Take care, get a shift on, and snack on something that brings you a little joy. 🍪 Kisses.

3/12/23 Fact or Fiction
Statement #1: Backstage drama will continue to follow CM Punk upon his return to WWE. FACT - ...but fact with a caveat, as the issue with Punk at this point is the expectation of backstage drama will follow him around, meaning there's going to be added scrutiny of everything he says and does, and the problem with the expectation of Punk causing problems is that it runs the risk of becoming a self-fulfilling prophecy - especially given Punk's track record of responding to any kind of pressure by lashing out
Statement #2: If we’re not going to get traditional Survivor Series elimination tag team matches anymore then the War Games matches should include elimination rules in the end. FICTION - Adding eliminations to WarGames would only serve to overcomplicate the stipulation, especially as the point of the stipulation is (usually) the faces having to overcome a numerical disadvantage throughout the match - so adding eliminations on top of that is overegging the proverbial pudding
Statement #3: You blame the sale of WWE to Endeavor for the first hour of Survivor Series being one big commercial for Ruffles. FICTION - Considering how the achievements list for several WWE games from 2K18 onwards had literal ads for Snickers and KFC in them, no, it is nothing to do with Endeavor. Instead it's late stage capitalism, which is why we get matches sponsored by Mountain Dew and Army of the Dead on WWE PPVs in the last few years
Statement #4: Will Ospreay made the right move signing with AEW. FACT - The main thing AEW's uppercard needs is a refresh considering Bryan Danielson is winding down his career, Chris Jericho has outlived his welcome around the main event scene, CM Punk is...well you know where he is, and while they are elevating Swerve Strickland organically a signing like Ospreay allows the landscape of their headline scene to change around him - and this wouldn't really happen in WWE as the options for the next 6-9 months are Roman's Reign of Terror continuing to break record in inorganic ways or giving Cody his moment, so Ospreay would be in a holding pattern for some time
Statement #5: The best tag team wrestling is in AEW. FACT - It didn't occur to Matt Hardy that there's a reason that The Hardys haven't been pushed much in AEW, and that's because they just cannot hang with the majority of the division and all they can do is play the hits at half speed and that just will not work against the likes of FTR, Aussie Open, Top Flight, Kings of the Black Throne et al due to the standard being so much higher
Statement #6: It is already clear that AEW doesn’t know what to do with Adam Copeland. FICTION - In the ring they know exactly what they're doing with Edge Adam Copeland as they're mainly using him in tag sprints so he is still getting the maximum impact out of his appearances in the way The Hardys cannot (okay, those questions lined up well for me...)and he's contributing in segments as well, not least as he isn't Happy To Be Here and instead has slotted into a groove pretty quickly and doesn't appear to have missed a step in the ring or on the mic
Statement #7: Cheap Heat is the best pro-wrestling podcast. FICTION - TBH when I listen to podcasts I tend to go for something more chill and certainly not something you need to consult a fan wiki in order to understand the tsunami of references and in jokes, which is why Renee Paquette or Kevin Nash are more the sort of thing that I will listen to, though this is more my preference than anything else
Statement #8: You would pay to listen to a podcast. FICTION - That's like expecting people to pay in order to use a free social media platform, and what sort of 🔔🔚 would suggest something as monumentally dense as that...?

It’s My Decision (pt 3)

Warning: love making with Amy so you have been warned other then that enjoy the story my loves.

In the morning you were discharged from the hospital, made it home with Amy safe. Once you make it into your place you look around to see all your things are gone. “What...what happened to my things?” You ask. She smiled at you as she gave you a hug from behind. “It’s at my place you're moving in with me.” You look confused. “Me? Moving in with you?” she nodded her head. “I know who was here last night. I know it was Seth, I saw him run away after we came. That dog ran so fast that the time I looked out your window I saw him get in that car and drove off. Let me tell you something right now. As long as I’m around he can’t hurt you.” She told you with a service look on her face. You nod your head as you look down. “Now my love let's go home.” As she took your hand pulling you out of your old apartment.
Seth was at his gym sitting here thinking about last night. Becky walked in and sat next to him, making him smile as she gave him a kiss. “So what happened last night you came home scared?” Seth smiled as he put his arm around her. “Think about the baby and what to do.” He lied to Becky. She nodded her head with a smile as she looked up to see Roman and Jon walk right in. “Hey Seth can we talk?” Roman said. Seth already knew by the look on his face. Seth gave Becky a kiss on her check as he walked with the guys. “What’s up you guys, Jon long time no see.” Seth laughed. “Cut the crap Seth we know it was you.” Jon yelled. “Yeah Seth why were you at Y/n’s apt?” Seth sighs as he walks away from them. “Come back here Seth! Seth!!” Both Roman and Jon yelled.
Tony had a smile on his face while he was looking at the time. “Hey boss what’s up with you? Chris Jericho asks Tony. “I mean I’m excited Amy finally is happy with someone that loves her and Y/n is joining AEW. I mean this is great.” Jericho chalked a bit. “Yeah I mean that’s great another person from WWE is here now, but I know she is not that bad. I mean she did everything she could to get in, but damn man. She really lost her job because of Seth uh?” Tony nodded his head as he looked at Jericho. “Well she doesn't have to worry because here we're not gonna let that happen.” They both laughed as they drank their ice tea. Then a car passed by as the window rolled down. “Hey Tony?” Amy smiled as she looked at them. Both ways. “Lets go we need to get her to sign this bad boy so she can get started. They both got up and headed to the car.
You were already home. All you were doing was waiting for Amy to come back with Tony and Jericho so you can sign. Your phone rang as you looked at it, you saw it said Shane McMahon, you rolled eyes as you answered. “Hey you know you can’t talk to me right?” Shane smiled as he looked around. “Yeah, but come on just this fast talk ok?” He asked you. You nodded, “Alright what’s up?” He smiled, “Look you know my father has to face your finance again in court right?” You nodded as you answered him. “Well what if you let me talk to my dad on re-hiring you and this whole thing with Seth can go away if we let him go.” You shook your head. “Shane you're crazy just like your old man.” Shane laughed as he looked at his wife walking into the bathroom. “Look Y/n about what happened with you and Seth please tell me you got over that?” You look at the backyard as you watch the sun rise up knowing it’s noon. “No it’s all true me and Seth slept with each other, and this was after me and Renee called it off. Well it was Renee who called it off after what happened with… you know what why don’t you ask her I know she is happy with whoever she is with.” You told Shane. He smiled as he looked at the time. “Hey look, if you need anything don’t be afraid to ask ok?” Shane told you. “Yeah well see Shane. Later dude.” You ended the call as Shane had a smile on his face. As he thinks back to a time when it was just you and him backstage as you was his valet. You both did some scenes together even though you were not happy about it. Then just one day out of the blue you and Shane were alone in the office waiting for his father to come in and then Shane just pulled you close to him. “Hey, what are you doing?” You ask trying to move away from him. He just smiled as he leaned in kissing you on the lips. You fought back as you slapped him across his face and ran out of the office. Shane looked back at the bathroom open as he smiled while his wife walked out.
You look back to see you Amy walk in with Tony and Jericho. You had a smile on your face as you walked up to her and gave her a kiss on her lips. “I miss you Amy.” you told her. She smiled at you while holding you. “Uh...you know I mean Tony is your cousin Amy, but I mean...I can watch you know be a judge.” You laugh at Jericho as you tease him a little. “Well Mr.Jericho when we do it maybe you can watch us.” You said so smoothly making Amy laugh. “Yeah don’t do that.” Jericho said. All four of you sat down at the table talking about your new deal with AEW you smiled as you signed the contract. “Welcome to family Y/n.” Tony said as you gave him a hug.
Roman was with Jon both having beers, Roman got a text saying from you telling him that you sign. He smiles texting you back congratulations and that Jon will watch you while you're in AEW. “You better keep a close eye on her Jon.” He laughed “Yeah I will. Plus how did those two end up with each other again?” Jon smiled at Roman. “Yo you know cut  that shit out.” As they both laugh. “Yeah yeah I’ll keep an eye on her bro.” Jon smiled at his beer bottle. “What’s up Mox?” Roman said looking at him. Jon shook his head as he eyed the bottle. “Something is on your mind due.” Roman told. “I always thought your sister was cute.” Jon looked over at Roman who was already getting a little mad. “Hey I mean it, but you know what Y/n is already taken and I’m already taken.” Jon said. “Oh so you do like her...still?” Roman asks. All Jon did was nod. “Well who knows you just might work with her, but remember her future wife doesn't like men.” Roman said laughing, making Jon laugh as well.
It was night time as you and Amy were getting ready for bed. “So I guess I’m going to work for these guys next week?” Amy smiled as she hugged you from behind. “Well looks like you are who knows what they might put you as.” You smiled as you turned to look at Amy. You lean in to kiss Amy on her lips. She puts her arms around you pulling you close to her body as you both now deepening the kiss. Slowly you started to take off your bathrobe leaving you with nothing on. Amy pushing you to the bed makes you fall backwards. Both of you laugh as Amy opens your legs with a smile. “When was the last time you let a girl go down on you?” She said with a smile. “Uh...never really. I mean there was one but she never wanted to get down like what we're doing.” Amy made a sad face. “Too bad for her then.” Amy said with a smile.
You watch Amy as she slowly starts to kiss your inner thighs making you moan. You bit your lips as you felt her moving upwards. Once she made it to your clit she slowly started to lick it, making you moan out her name. Then Amy starts to play with you with her tongue making you moan louder. You put your hands around her head just in case if she tries to move away. “Oh god Amy yes...please don’t stop.” you begged. She moves her head away from you as she licks both fingers with a smile. “Oh your ready baby.” Amy slowly started to rub you as you moan leaning your head back. She uses her two fingers entering you slowly as you say her name out loud. “Is that what you like Y/n? I can make you feel like a real woman.” Amy said with a smile on her face. She started to thrust both her fingers inside you. You sat up taking both hands and grabbing Amy by the face and leaned in to kiss her. “Yeah I wanna feel like a woman baby.” You said. Amy stops what she was doing then she lays you down on your back. “I’ll be right back. She walks away with a smile on her face as she walks into the bathroom. You look up with a smile on your face waiting for her to come out.
It didn’t take too long as you saw her walk out of the bathroom...wearing a strap on. “Uh...Amy...what in the world is that?” You pointed. “I’m going to make sweet love to you baby you're going to wish we meet sooner.” She said with a smile on her face. With you know you felt something hard hitting your center. You look down then back up at Amy. “Wait what about you?” You ask. “Don’t worry about baby, I’m just here to please you.” With her words easing you she entered you hard. You start to moan her name once again as she thrusted inside you. You felt like you were in heaven as you felt her inside you. You close your eyes seeing stars with each thrust hittin you. “You're thinking about me Y/n?” Amy said with a smile. You open your eyes with a smile on your face. “That’s all I can see is you baby.” You told her. The moans that epoch in the room was you can hear. Amy’s heavy breathing was music to your ears. You felt her hitting your spot, you looked up at her and nodded your head. You start to beg her, “Amy I'm so close please keep going...I’m coming.” Amy starts to move faster as she sees you were breathing heavier. “Say my name when you come Y/n!” That's what you did when you finally hit your high with Amy as you yelled out her name. The both of you stop as she laid next to you with a smile on her face. You look at her as you start to fall asleep. “I love you Amy.” She smiled at you while she watched you sleep.
The next morning you were already at the show for AEW. You wave your hand at some of the workers while you nod at some of them. You walk up to see Tony talking with Cody and his wife Brandi and you wave at them. “Hi there you must be Brandi?” You ask. “Yes and she married me thank you.” Cody jokes, making everyone laugh. “Stop it babe plus I still think that tattoo is u.g.l.y.” Everyone started to laugh while Cody rolled his eyes. Tony looks at you as he shows you around leaving both Cody and Brandi behind. “So yeah you're going to be sharing a locker room with the girls while the guys have their own just a few doors down from you gals.” You nodded your head while he was talking. Then you saw Jericho standing here laughing with his crew. You wave at him as he nodded his head to you. “Well that should be it, have fun here Y/n.” You smiled as you watched Tony walk off. You turn into someone pretty strong, “Oh god i’m so sorry…” You look up to see Jon Moxley looking down at you with his soft blue eyes. “Hey there kid, how are ya?” He asked you nodded your head with a smile. “I’m fine oh and yeah again thanks for helping me.” You told him. He smiled as he walked away from you.
You were standing there in your ring gear ready for your match with Nyla Rose. “Hey girl don’t worry I won’t hurt ya like Nya in WWE.” You smile at her. “I know you're not gonna hurt me. Besides, you're a lot better than her.” You said with pride making her happy. “Alright you go first then me.” Nyla pushes you out just so you can raise your arm up in the air. You saw your fans cheering for you as you walked down into the ring. Then you stood there waiting for her to come out. Nothing happens, you're standing there wondering what was going on then Jericho music hits as his friends walk out. “Oh boy.” you said. Watching him walk out. “Welcome to my show AEW.” Jericho said as he stepped into the ring. “Now I know you have a match with Nyal but that can wait for some other time. I have a deal my dear one you can not refuse. How about you join the inner circle?” He said making everyone in the crow boo at him. You shook your head no with a smile. “Alright then I guess I’m just gonna have to let my guys force ya.” He said as he called his buddies over. You look around to yourself. Then the crowd goes wild as Jon’s music hits. You look back to see him running with a bare wire bat. Making everyone run away.
“Hey Chris how about you this I’ll fight ya.” He shouted, making you smile. Jon looks back at you and wink. You wink back at him. As you look up at Jericho standing there getting mad. Back stage you look at Tony. “Really you change it at the last minute?” You ask him. He smiled “Hey Amy didn’t wanna see you get hurt so I’m putting you with Jon.” You rolled your eyes as you sat down. “Oh come on Tony you have to let me wrestler, it was what I was trained to do.” You told him. He shook his head with a smile. “ I promise Amy sorry Y/n.” He said, but hey you can work with Moxley.” He said. “What?” You ask.
Seth was at home with Becky as he was watching AEW. “Yeah look at that babe, I know it was Tony who did that.” Becky laughed as she looked over at Seth who was just sitting there looking at the tv. “Babe? Hey babe!” Making Seth wake up from watching the tv then looking at Becky. “Yeah sorry babe I just got lost in space.” SHe shook her head as she gave Seth a kiss. “I have to go to the bathroom, be right back.” She said getting up from the couch. Seth looked at his phone to see a text message from buddy Murphy.
Murphy : Hey man Y/n move in with her fiance Amy.
Seth: When the fuck did that happen?
Murphy: Almost a month ago, how did you not know that?
Seth: Busy with my girl. She is already two months in and were trying to find out if it’s a boy or a girl.
Murphy: Hey man if you still care about Y/n then you need to forget about her. She already moved on. Plus what was you going to do with her anyways? I mean she is more into women than men.”
Seth: Nah man she bi she likes both sexes, plus...never mind did you do what I ask you to do by the way?”
Murphy: Yeah Amy has a shady background I’m still digging tho.
Seth: GREAT!!! Let me know when you get more info about it.
Murphy: got it over and out
Seth had a smile on his face as he looked up at the tv seeing you standing next to Jon in the ring. “Oh Amy, Amy, Amy, what are you hiding girl?”
You were out shopping for some new things with Amy, That’s when Becky saw the both of you laughing as they both looked at a wedding dress. “Well I see you both are having a good time.” Becky said walking up to them both. “Hello Becky I see your belly is getting big.” You told her. “She looked down with a smile then back at you. “Yeah well we can’t wait, and when I mean we I mean me and Seth.” She said giggling. “I know Becky, I mean after all you are the one who played my finance right?” Amy said with a smile. “I’m sorry I’m not talking to you Amy.” Becky said, “But you are Becky and if I were you I’ll stay away from my babe. Did your boss tell you not to come around Y/n?” She smiled at her. Becky looks at you then Amy. “The both of you can fuck off.” Becky said walking away from the both of you.
You look at Amy with a smile. “Thank you babe. You didn’t have to really.” She smiled at her as she gave you a kiss. “You're going to be my wife in two weeks.” You were in shock as you choke on your drink. “TWO WEEKS” You said coughing. Amy taps your back as you try to breathe. Amy looks around then back at you. “Well yeah I already told your brother and your friends two weeks baby.” Amy said with a smile.

The Detention Trope
Detention sucked ass. Missing out on a lunch period, just because he was ten minutes late to class seemed like overkill to Darby Allin. Then again, he was a freshman. So maybe he just didn’t get it.
Either way he certainly hadn’t intended to be tardy… again. His skateboard just got wrecked taking a shortcut in. He had to jog the last mile and a half. But that ancient coot Mr. Hebner wasn’t taking any excuses. He’d arrived with torn jeans and a little road-rash from his wipeout, and that’d earned him a few looks. Darby didn’t care, though, holding his chin up as he passed the other students in the hall on his way to the designated time-out classroom.

About A Girl| WWE|1
@prettyinpayne | @ohnoitsthebat
masterlist
After finding out that the truth about their budding relationship with Chris Jericho and Christian Cage was all a sham. A bet. Trish Stratus and Lita find out that they have a lot more in common than just being played.
This is going to be set after they find out about the bet leading up to and after the 2003 Battle of the Sexes. Also, I am going to kind of ignore the relationship Lita had with Matt Hardy. And that’s mostly because I can’t stand Matt Hardy. This is also going to be the first very short story (10 chapters) in Ajay Reso (Ashton Hardcastle) ‘s series. And the second story in Scotlynn McMahon’s series. Also, I'm making the bet happening outside of kayfabe too.
Chapter 1: I Can’t Believe It
Trish Stratus shook her head as she paced the length of the crowded locker room, tears still clear in her eyes that were fixed on the floor. She couldn’t believe that this whole time she was being played like a damn fool. That the relationship and feelings that she had for Jericho and that he had for her were all a fucking bet. A plaything, a means to an end.  She shook her head and clenched her fists as she kept pacing.
“T, would you relax?” Her redhead counterpart Lita said from where she was sitting on the bench, “They are men there is no reason to get so damn upset about it.”
“How can you be so relaxed about this?” The Canadian asked more distress than before.
“I am not. I’m pissed as hell about it but acting like this and crying over them isn’t going to do anything.” She said standing and folding her arms, “Does it suck that we got played for a fucking Canadian dollar? You’re damn right it does. I hate that they did this to us. They took advantage of our feelings and the whole world saw it.”
Trish nodded her head leaning against the nightstand, “What do we do then?” “We get even babe, we get even.”
Trish nodded her head raising her eyes to look at her.
Lita pushed her fingers through her fiery red hair and licked her lips. She wasn’t quite sure what they would do to get even but she sure the hell was going to try to make this better.
By any means necessary. Even if that meant calling Ashton, Christian’s younger sister, to try and talk sense into her brother or even Jericho. Both of them listened to her for the most part.
---
Anger was burning through Christian Cage as he shoved his items back into his bag.
“How the hell did they find out about this? I thought we were more careful about this.” “We were!” Chris Jericho stressed.
“Then how the hell did they find out?” Jericho shrugged, “I have no idea, they are women, they are sneaky.”
Christian let out an angry sigh as he yanked the zipper up on his bag, “Well now everything is ruined.”
“It’s not ruined, we just need to get them back. It can’t be that hard.” Jericho commented, folding his arms across his chest, “They will be easy to win back into our favor. We just have to woo them back.”
Christian turned to look at him, how could he say that? There was no way they could easily woo them back into their arms. They were pissed and pissed at them for doing this.
“It’s not going to work and you know it.” He said, “We are in deep shit. At least Bischoff is on our side about this. And we can use that to our advantage.”
Chris shook his head as he moved away from his friend; there was no way they were going to forgive them. No way.
“Don’t get him involved, he will hold it over our heads for the rest of our careers.”
Christian grinned and patted his shoulder before walking out of the locker room to talk to Raw's general manager.
Bischoff may be sleazy but at least he knew how to get things done. And he hated Trish and Lita almost as Christian did right then.
He would be a good ally going forward whether Jericho saw it that way or not. Seeing Trish and Lita exit the locker room, he paused and smirked.
At the end of the day, he was still going to win the bet and seal the deal with Lita.
Feeling his eyes on her, Lita glared at him and pushed him roughly. Trish followed steps behind her, scoffing as she passed.
He turned his head watching them walk, then walking like this was only making him want it more.
***
Lita waited until she heard the shower turn on and she picked up her phone and scrolled through the contacts until she found Ashton's contact information and pressed the button, it rang once, twice then, “Hey Li, give me a second.’  The background noise went quiet and she came back, “sorry I'm just getting ready to go back home and the dorm is crowded.”  The former Queen of Extreme had forgotten that the younger Reso sibling had started her first semester at Northwestern that summer and put her wrestling aspirations on hold. “What's up?”
“Have you talked to your brother lately?”
“Which one?”  There was an underlying amount of hurt in her voice, and the older woman felt like a tool, both Christian and Ajay had been informed that they had a younger half-brother and possibly a younger half-sister. The older sibling had turned more devious, more selfish. And Ashton, she wasn’t sure about. Edge, whom she had been in contact with while he was out on injury mentioned that she had almost shut down and then went to Ohio with her roommate and a couple of her friends but the results were unknown even to Edge whom she told everything to. “How are you doing with that? “
 “Lita, which brother?”
“The one that you share a mother with.”
“No, I have been busy with finals. What happened?”
“They placed a bet on who would bed Trish or me first.”
“They did what?”
“For one Canadian dollar.”
Ashton let out a disbelieving laugh, “A goddamn Canadian dollar? Are you kidding me? You are so out of his league.”  Lita smirked, she knew getting the younger girl involved in this was a good idea. “What do you need me to do?”

the worst movie tie-ins in the history of wrestling
Wrestling is stupid, and will show its ass at the mere mention of cross-promotion, especially when it comes to movies, which is it's cooler older brother that can get away with a lot more. Hell, the 2nd ever SummerSlam's main event, in 1989, was Hulk Hogan facing the main villain, Tiny Lister as Zeus (RIP), from the film they were both in, No Holds Barred. So wrestling's always wanted a piece of that. So... - Army of the Dead Let's just get this one out of the way. Here's the thing; I thought the WrestleMania Backlash's card was fucking perfect...except for this weird business. WMB MIGHT've been the best show of the pandemic (hot take) were it not for making sure we sell Big Dave's big zombie heist movie. If they had just kept some of the guys in zombie makeup on the Thunderdome's webcam footage, that would have been borderline charming. But instead, the Miz (who was WWE champion 3 months ago, don't forget) and Damien Priest (who they're making WWE's pop-culture liaison so far on the main roster, for some reason) had to sell for zombies in a lumberjack match. If this was the first ever wrestling show you watched with a loved one who had never watched wrestling or hadn't since like, the end of the Attitude Era, would you for a second want them to stick around after Miz and Morrison get, for all intents and purposes, kayfabe killed and eaten, and then watch Damien Priest shoot the logo at the ceiling? My money's on "no." - Shaft Speaking of the Attitude Era, anytime someone tells you that wrestling was cooler in that 3-year time frame, point them to the June 15th of 2000 episode of SmackDown, where a storyline that ran throughout the show followed Patterson and Briscoe through New York City to find Crash Holly and his Hardcore Title. Now, I admit parts of this are kinda funny, like Briscoe just wanting to give up and find a "gen-yoo-WINE New York hot dawg!" That's fun! And who does Crash Holly run into but none other than Shaft, and his woman, the only one who understands this complicated man, John Shaft. So, we have real Samuel L. Jackson, playing fake John Shaft, talking to real/fictional Crash Holly, and man is it weird. Anyway, Shaft agrees to be Crash's bodyguard for the night, and he slaps around Patterson and Briscoe in a nightclub. After all, what better way to get across how cool and badass a character is than having him knock around the fucking Stooges? - The Wrestler Well, this is complicated. The Wrestler, starring ancient wooden lion Mickey Rourke, is a somber tale about an industry that, in its heyday, left people physically spent, washed-up and addicted to adrenaline at best, and dead at worst. It famously moved Roddy Piper to tears because he recognized what destruction and brokenness the industry once left in its wake. Which is why it's super-weird that WWE jumped at the chance to promote maybe the bleakest possible look at their world in 2009, and did so by having Chris Jericho smack the shit out of three old wrestlers at WrestleMania 25, including Roddy Piper. And then have Rourke jump into the ring, wearing his "do you want to take peyote in the desert?" starter kit and bring out his amateur boxing chops. Tonally, it's just really bleak. Like if the creator of Super Size Me screened the premiere at the world's biggest McDonald's. - Bride of Chucky Poor Rick Steiner. You didn't deserve this. You're the sane Steiner. They shouldn't have made you talk to the puppet. So, WCW was heading into Halloween Havoc 1998, and after years of stomping all over the WWF in the ratings, the wheels had come off, and dramatically. Like, all at once. Like the car in the Blues Brothers. To boost PPV buys, they spent a fortune bringing in the Ultimate Warrior to rekindle a feud with Hulk Hogan, mostly by hiding in his fucking mirror. And the Steiner Brothers, one of the best teams of the early 90s, had been feuding with one another since Scott turned on his at SuperBrawl. What was the best way to build hype around this match at Halloween Havoc? Why, to have Rick get into a war of words - and lose - to Chucky. Yes.
Serial killer doll voiced by Brad Dourif, and it's so sad. Chucky cusses Rick out while Rick challenges the fucking doll to a fight, which is promptly ignored (Chucky's video segment is pre-recorded, and you can tell because he starts talking about 3 times in 3 minutes while Rick's mid-promo and missing his cues to stop) and then is made fun of. And all the while, people were probably wondering "what's going on on Vince's show?" and the answer is...that was the episode of Raw where Austin fills Vince's Corvette with cement, which is slightly more badass than being teased by a puppet. - The Goods Here's the thing: Raw is, right now, a bad show. It is bad TV. It's been bad for a while now. And as bad as it is right now, it's still not as fuck-awful as it was in 2009, aka the Age of the Guest Hosts (which, in kayfabe, was given to us by Donald J. Trump, so blame that ambulatory Nazi scrotum for one more thing, he's certainly earned it). For those of you fortunate enough to not be watching what was objectively unwatchable at the time - and hell, I sure as shit wasn't checking in very often - from mid-2009 to around mid-2010, a celebrity would be the special guest host of Monday Night Raw, often to promote a TV show or movie, and it was nearly all horribly-written, cheesy wank. Imagine if every week was the week of the zombie attack at Backlash. That's what it was like. Bob Barker was funny. The Muppets were good. And THAT'S the end of the list. MacGruber coming out to blow up R-Truth made me want to fall on a knife. The A-Team coming out to beat up Virgil was fucking awful. Go straight to fucking HELL, the Three Stooges, Dennis Miller, the reverend Al Sharpton, the 2010 Pittsburgh Steelers, Don Johnson and Jon Heder, the poor entire cast of Hot Tub Time Machine...and then there's Piven. Jeremy Piven. He showed up with Ken Jeong to promote a movie no one remembers...called the Goods. He stunk up several segments, infamously called SummerSlam "the Summer Fest" and then got roughed up by John Cena. Wrestling's the worst. Stop watching. And many did. For a looooooong time. - Robocop 2 This one's infamous, so I'll keep it brief. Robocop 2 came out in 1990, and goddamn, I don't know how much money the producers threw at WCW, but it was enough for them to rebrand an entire PPV "Capitol Combat: the Return of Robocop" and marketed the entire thing around the fancy metallic gentleman. The branding really made it seem like Robert Cop was old friends with the promotion, and indeed, old friends with Sting. Makes sense; two big, heroic idiots running on BASIC. He had been feuding with the Four Horsemen, who locked him in a cage at ringside. Out comes Robocop, called completely straight by Jim Ross, who rips the cage door off his hinges, and then leaves. An accumulated 85 seconds of screen time. Totally worth being the centerpiece of this PPV! But a little context as to why WCW fans hated it so much: 1989, the year before, was regarded by WCW fans as one of the best in company history. The era that gave us stuff like Chi-Town Rumble and the still-very-much-lauded peak of the Steamboat/Flair feud. To go from that to Robocop was seen as a bit of a slap in the face, because WCW was always seen as the more traditional "wrasslin'" company and was never into cheesy pop-culture crossovers, which is why the last one...is all the funnier.
- Ready To Rumble First of all, those dumbasses at Turner had to give Michael Buffer - who they still had on retainer - around $350,000 just to use that title, because he owns the trademark to that phrase. Strike 127 million, capitalism, that a guy gets to own a phrase and gets paid an obscene amount when he or anyone else uses it. Secondly, I initially wasn't going to do movies where the promotion itself is producing the movie, or oh holy HELL would See No Evil and the infamous May 19 shit be on here. But unlike See No Evil, this had a hand in killing a decades-old wrestling promotion, so it feels weird to not include it. On April 7th, 2000, bad movie Ready To Rumble was released, a film about two hapless dorks trying to help Oilver Platt, aka the lawyer from the West Wing, become WCW World Heavyweight Champion. Two weeks later, to promote the movie, they made David Arquette, the lead actor in the movie, the WCW World Heavyweight Champion. He pinned Eric Bischoff, who wasn't the champion, of course, in a match where he was teamed with Diamond Dallas Page, his best pal and the company's top babyface at the time, but who is also one of the villains in the film to make it extra confusing for the mainstream casual audience the movie was made to attract. And, to be fair, Arquette didn't want to do it, NO ONE really wanted to do it, and it tanked viewership for WCW once and for all. At the very least, David took his payday from the wrestling appearances and the film and gave it to the families of Owen Hart, Brian Pillman and to Darren Drozdov, who had been paralyzed from the neck down in a wrestling match the previous year.

A small interview with autistic author Sarah Kurchak
She’s celebrating the release of her memoir, I Overcame My Autism and All I Got Was This Lousy Anxiety Disorder, this week (actually a while ago but has anything this year happened on schedule? Better late than never, right?) I offered to interview her for this blog, and she agreed!
I wanted to talk about her book on this blog because one of the big topics this book deals with is the self-annihilating impulse that we talked about in this post, the shame-related desire to remake yourself into a fundamentally different (non-disabled) person. Kurchak describes her book as a cautionary tale about how harmful putting on an act like that can be.
Tumblr media
[ID: cover of the book, a photo of Sarah Kurchak, with pink-dyed hair and a black shirt.]
Please give a brief summary of the book.
I Overcame My Autism And All I Got Was This Lousy Anxiety Disorder is a collection of moderately connected essays that use moments from my life as a minimally successful late diagnosed autistic person to highlight bigger issues that face many autistic people. Basically, I didn’t want to write my own story and leave it at that. Nor did I think my life was interesting enough to merit an entire book. But I seem to have a facility for writing about autism in a way that intrigues non-autistic people, so I wanted to see if I could use that talent for the greater good in book form.
My basic and slightly muddied thesis is that my life is decent enough, but it hasn’t been without hardships, and that some of those hardships could have been remedied with better services for autistic people, and greater acceptance and understanding. And if someone like me, who has had a number of advantages in life, is struggling as much as I am, how much harder is it for so many other autistic people? And how much more are we currently failing them?
What's this book's origin story? How did you end up writing this memoir rather than some other book, and how did you find your publisher?
“It’s in the book!” feels like such a dick answer to me. But if anyone is interested in a longer (or, arguably, too long) explanation for how I wound up getting an agent, writing this book, and finding a publisher for it, you can find it in the introduction. Along with references to Cronenberg’s The Brood and Balloon Okada.
The short version is that an agent liked a story that I’d published in a literary outlet, and asked if I wanted to write a book. I tried to talk her into repping a novella about slash fiction and pro wrestling that I wrote in my early twenties. Somehow that did not put her off and she gently guided me toward non-fiction ideas. I’d had the title in mind for years at that point, so I threw that out. Then I started to flesh out what kind of book I’d put under it. I still don’t think it’s a proper memoir, but that word’s on the cover, so I guess it is?
(I realize how lucky I am to have found myself in this unlikely situation. But I always feel the need to point out that it took me 18 years of professional writing to find this “overnight” “success.”)
What's one thing you wish you had known about or had access to when you were younger and undiagnosed?
I wish that I could have grown up with a more wholistic idea of myself. When I excelled in school but struggled on the playground, a lot of well-meaning adults who were just trying to help a suffering child get through the day started to tell me that the other kids were jealous of me because I was smart, and that’s why I was being bullied and couldn’t make friends. And that’s a very easy narrative to cling to when you’re a scared and lonely child who is desperate for any sense of self-worth.
It helped me survive school, but I don’t think it benefitted me at all in the long run. It took me a long time to come to terms with how ableist and racist the very concept of intelligence is. I’d grown up thinking it was the only thing I had going for me! I didn’t want to give it up! I wish I could have figured out how harmful the concept was much earlier in life and established a sense of self that was more aware of — and cool with — my strengths and weakness. And more rooted in the idea that my worth came from the fact that I was a human being, and not because I was ostensibly “special” in some way.
A while ago I did an event on this blog where people sent in examples of fiction that helped them feel better about being neurodivergent or disabled, stories that showed them what their future could look like or made them feel less alone. Was there a story that did that for you?
Community premiered a few months after I was diagnosed and I can’t even begin to put into words how much Abed helped me during those early years. And how meaningful Abed and Troy’s friendship was.
Strangely, even though there is nothing at all autistic coded about her, and not a lot I’d consider neurodivergent about her, George in Dead Like Me really spoke to me, too. I think I was just really into the idea of someone getting a late start in life where they could make up for what they hadn’t done before, even if they could never really go back to what their original life was. (This is the only way in which I’d ever view my diagnosis as analogous to death, by the way. It was really quite a positive and helpful experience!)
And a bonus special interest question: Was there a specific match, storyline, or wrestler that made you into a wrestling fan instead of a casual viewer? What was it that caught your attention?
It was Chris Jericho.
In late 2000, I decided to try watching wrestling. I had always hated it, but my new boyfriend (now my husband) was really into it. And he seemed to have good taste otherwise, so I figured I should at least try to understand what the hell had gone wrong with him on this one thing. So I tuned into Raw, and there was this little lippy Canadian causing all sorts of shit. And that was it! All I wanted to do was watch this bratty asshole with a sharp tongue and a hair trigger crying reflex antagonize his opponents and then get flustered if and when things didn’t work out properly. And that’s exactly what I did for about 18 years. Even when I lost interest in wrestling in general, I still loved Jericho.
But it ended as suddenly as it began. Jericho attacked Tetsuya Naito in New Japan in 2018. Other members of LIJ jumped in to protect him. There was a split second where I thought Jericho was going to hit Hiromu Takahashi. And I involuntarily squealed “DON’T YOU TOUCH HIM” at my laptop screen. Friendship ended with Jericho. Hiromu Takahashi is my best wrestler now. (Well, one of the best, at least. Tetsuya Endo forever.)

12/2/23 Fact or Fiction
Statement #1: The audience will turn on Cody Rhodes before Wrestlemania. FICTION - I certainly don't see the WWE fans turning on Cody before WrestleMania, as realistically the only way he'd get people turning on him en masse between now and WM is if he acted particularly obnoxiously in the real world in much the same way Seth Rollins torpedoed his babyface run - however, it would not surprise me if murmurings of discontent did start to become noticeable sometime between SummerSlam and Survivor Series assuming he was still champion at that point, but they'd be guaranteed if he dropped the belt back to Reigns by MITB
Statement #2: Sami Zayn did the right thing by hitting Roman Reigns with that chair at Royal Rumble. FACT - If he didn't that seemingly endless beatdown of Kevin Owens might still be going on
Statement #3: You would love to see another Mountain Dew Pitch Black Match. FICTION - First of all, I genuinely hate it when the name of a match stipulation has a sponsor's name plastered all over it (with the possible exception of the Dominos Presents Nick Gage Carving Chris Jericho's Head Open With A Pizza Cutter Deathmatch), but in terms of the You're Off The Artistic Rollcall Pitch Black match the stip was borderline LOLTNA and I'm not sure there's too many people who could save it
Statement #4: Royal Rumble wins for wrestlers like Rhea Ripley and Cody Rhodes are wasted because they are obvious title contenders who could easily get a championship match at any time. FICTION - While there certainly have been wasted Rumble wins in the past given the winners would get title shots whenever they were available, most obviously Charlotte winning it in 2020 and Lesnar in 2022, this year's winners weren't a waste in particular Rhea's considering she's challenging for the SD Women's title which she wouldn't be awarded at any time given she's on the Raw roster, while Cody's works given he was coming back from injury so he gets a momentum boost off the back of it
Statement #5: You agree with Taz about the use of the term “banger” to describe wrestling matches. FICTION - While the word is certainly overused to the point that it starts to lose its meaning when you sometimes see it used two or three times per episode of Raw, Dynamite or SmackDown (okay, maybe not SmackDown...) it's hardly the most obnoxious term used by wrestling site. A better contender for that title would be "Column by Justin Watry"
Statement #6: Every Royal Rumble match needs someone who starts at the beginning to still be there in the end. FICTION - The fact that both of the 2023 Rumbles made the first entrant in the final two underlines the issue with having somebody going the distance every year: if you have somebody going the distance every year it stops being an impressive feat and becomes a trope, and the fact that we've had three entrants do this in the last three shows (Ripley and Gunther in 2023, Edge in 2021) in particular undermines the whole idea if it happens so often in a short space of time, especially when both the 2021 and 2023 shows used a lot of the same booking tropes in both Rumbles which basically meant you only needed to watch the one

MJF, ‘the work,’ and the complicated messy nature of pro wrestling journalism
Tumblr media
Who suffers when fiction and reality are blurred like this?
All Elite Wrestling held one of its biggest shows of the year Sunday night with their Double or Nothing pay per view taking place in Las Vegas. But as the first match approached, there was way more interest in what was happening outside of the ring rather than between the ropes.
A firestorm of rumors and controversy started on Saturday when one of the company’s brightest young stars, Maxwell Jacob Friedman no-showed a scheduled meet and greet with fans — an appearance which cost up to $100 for those wanting to meet the wrestler. The absence led to speculation that MJF would not show up to the PPV on Sunday, skipping his match all together, ruining part of the show, and demanding his release from the company. Still, others claimed this was all a “work,” old wrestling terminology for making the public believe what the wrestler and promoter wanted them too.
Was this an athlete wanting out amidst a contract dispute, or part of a conceived plan to make the audience believe in backstage drama where there was none? The events that unfolded highlighted the complicated nature of covering professional wrestling, and raised questions whether it’s right to treat wrestling like a traditional combat sport, especially in a medium where fiction and reality are so often blurred.
It’s important to understand just how good MJF is, because he’s central to all of this. Friedman is one of the most exciting professional wrestlers of the last 20 years. Hell, there’s a compelling argument that nobody since the WWE Attitude Era in the late 90s has captured crowds with their promo skills quite like MJF. An AEW original, Friedman was one of the first performers to sign with the burgeoning promotion in February 2019, following a wildly successful start to his career that saw him move from independent bookings, to mid-sized promotions — completing a breakout run with Major League Wrestling that saw MJF evolve into one of the most hated heels (bad guys) in the business.
MJF is an iconoclast in modern wrestling, a throwback to a past era. Never dropping character, he portrays himself as a mixture between Mr. Perfect and the “Million Dollar Man” Ted DiBiase. That’s a reductive way to sum up his character, because there are times he’s shown vulnerability too, discussing antisemitism he endured in high school and blending old school character sensibility with a modern edge. Nobody, and I mean nobody his age is better at holding a crowd in the palm of his hand during a wrestling program, and that’s shined through as he’s gone toe-to-toe on the microphone with the likes of Chris Jericho and C.M. Punk — never getting overwhelmed by the moment against wrestlers who have more experience than years MJF has been alive.
When MJF joined AEW in 2019 on a five-year contract, he was a very different performer. Now he’s a bonafide superstar, and with that comes the desire for a bigger spot, a larger contract and more opportunity. It’s here reports emerged that he was growing unhappy with AEW, particularly in light of a swelling roster that he was starting to feel lost in. As a result he began teasing potentially jumping to WWE when his contract was up, and talking up wrestlers on their roster.
What makes this trickier is that displeasure with AEW has been a fundamental part of MJF’s character since the beginning of 2022. The motivation behind his character has been to portray himself as put upon, or overlooked by AEW owner Tony Khan — while other wrestlers got opportunities he felt he deserved.
This means that as we entered the weekend of Double or Nothing we had a performer who never broke character, who made being upset with AEW a fundamental part of his persona, and a perfect scenario where MJF and AEW could play this up to maximum effect, should they choose to pull the trigger. No-showing a fan event and leaving Las Vegas before the PPV was even complete could be the ultimate “work” to rile up fans, blurring the line between fiction and reality that wrestling so often strives for, but rarely reaches.
In the end, the match took place. MJF was on the card, finished his program against Wardlow — where he got powerbombed into next week, getting stretchered out of the ring, and essentially writing him off TV for a while. We still don’t know whether this is part of a story, or covering for issues behind the scenes.
How should the media react to this? There’s no perfect answer. Wrestling wants to get the attention of journalists, wants to be written about — but doesn’t want to reciprocate when something big occurs. Tony Khan refused to address questions about MJF following Double or Nothing and wrestlers were instructed not to talk about it. This closed system caught the attention of veteran hockey reporter Greg Wyshynski.
Surprised there wasn't more probing after his "no comment" on MJF situation. In other sports pressers, I think the question gets asked again/rephrased: "Has he wrestled the last match of his contract?" perhaps. TK shut it down. Unless I missed it, the issue wasn't hit again. 2/3
— Greg Wyshynski (@wyshynski) May 30, 2022
There is an inherent desire to maintain some of the mystique of wrestling. To allow the medium to fool fans and keep them guessing like any good TV show — but where is the line? Do we draw it when an athlete is presented as a malcontent? How about when fans pay good money to meet a star, only to have the opportunity taken away from them? What about when fans are invested in a product, spending their time and energy to support a wrestler and not know whether they’re going to be out of the company or not?
These are the questions that are swirling following AEW’s weekend in Vegas. Now there’s a decision to be made by everyone involved. We can either continue the process of treating wrestling like a pseudo-sport, allowing promotions to control the narrative without media challenge — or we can push further, dig deeper, and demand that when it comes to issues that extend beyond storylines on a show, and into the lives of fans. Those folks who paid to meet MJF deserve to know whether it was an honest falling out, or a planned “work,” turning their investment into an angle.
We are living in a golden age of wrestling. It has never been better to be a wrestling fan who can pick or choose the performers, promotions or styles they like to watch. There is no homogenized product anymore, and it’s incredible to see — but along with this comes a responsibility from those in powerful positions. To respect the fans and not cross a line where “the work” is more important than their investment. We, the media, also need to be strong enough to change the paradigm, so we can serve the people wanting to know the truth — rather than participate in the complicity of letting “the work” exist when it suits a company.
If wrestling wants to be treated like a sport, let’s do it — and that means ruffling feathers along the way.

Upcoming Marvel Movies Release Dates: MCU Phase 4 Schedule, Cast, and Story Details
https://ift.tt/eA8V8J
A bold new era for the Marvel Cinematic Universe began in 2021 on Disney+ with the wildly successful WandaVision, The Falcon and the Winter Soldier and Loki, but Marvel Studios certainly hasn’t been resting on its laurels in terms of upcoming cinematic blockbusters – Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, Eternals, Thor: Love and Thunder, Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness and Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania are all in various stages of production.
There are even more Marvel movies that are just starting to gear up, including Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, The Marvels, Fantastic Four, Guardians of the Galaxy 3 and Blade. And that’s without mentioning all the TV series heading our way like Hawkeye, Ms. Marvel, Moon Knight and She-Hulk. Phew!
If you’ve been a little confused by Marvel’s shifting dates and streaming priorities, never fear! We’ve got a comprehensive release calendar for you here detailing all the forthcoming MCU projects, so you’ll always be able to find the latest updates when you need them.
Let’s take a look at everything Marvel has in store over the next few years…
What If…?
Release Date: August 11
The beloved comic book series that tells tales of how things might have turned out differently in the Marvel Universe becomes an animated series on Disney+, and thanks to the events of Loki we may well be able to view all these new What If…? installments as canon!
Here’s the official synopsis for the show:
“What If…? flips the script on the MCU, reimagining famous events from the films in unexpected ways…Marvel Studios’ first animated series focuses on different heroes from the MCU, featuring a voice cast that includes a host of stars who reprise their roles.”
At least a couple of these roles include Chadwick Boseman’s final performance as T’Challa as well as the return of Hayley Atwell as Agent Peggy Carter!
Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings
Release Date: September 3, 2021
Simu Liu is the titular Shang-Chi and Tony Leung as The Mandarin (hey, that name sounds familiar! But this time, we’re getting the real Mandarin on screen). Destin Daniel Cretton directed this Marvel outing from a script by Dave Callaham. Given its “Ten Rings” title, Shang-Chi should be steeped in Marvel lore, going all the way back to the first Iron Man film!
Hopefully this will be Marvel’s most action-packed movie yet.
Venom: Let There Be Carnage
Release Date: September 17, 2021
Andy Serkis (Mowgli) steps behind the camera for Venom 2, which now boasts the catchy title of Venom: Let There Be Carnage. The first film, buoyed by a terrific showing at the Chinese box office, made an absolute ton of money, despite being released to mostly scathing reviews.
Venom: Let There be Carnage will follow up Sony’s 2018 Spider-Man-less spinoff film, but will likely be more connected to the MCU this time around, thanks to a renewed deal between the company and its Marvel Studios partners. Tom Hardy will return as Eddie Brock, of course, and as you can probably guess from that title, he’ll be facing off against Woody Harrelson’s villain, Cletus Kasady aka Carnage!
We wrote about all the cool Marvel stuff happening in the above trailer right here.
The Eternals
Release Date: Nov. 5, 2021
Acclaimed Nomadland helmer (and Oscar winner!) Chloe Zhao is directing Marvel’s Eternals from a script by Matthew and Ryan Firpo. Marvel described the film as an “epic story, spanning thousands of years” that features “a group of immortal heroes forced out of the shadows to reunite against mankind’s oldest enemy, The Deviants.”
The cast features Richard Madden as Ikaris, Kumail Nanjiani as Kingo, Lauren Ridloff as Makkari, Brian Tyree Henry as Phastos, Salma Hayek as Ajak, Lia McHugh as Sprite, Don Lee as Gilgamesh, Angelina Jolie as Thena, Gemma Chan as Sersi, and Kit Harrington as Dane Whitman, the Black Knight. We meet all these characters in the trailer, which we wrote more about here.
This one was another victim of the release date shuffle, but we’ll finally get to see Jack Kirby‘s wildest creations soon enough!
Spider-Man: No Way Home
Release Date: Dec. 17, 2021
The next Spider-Man movie looks like a big one! Spider-Man: No Way Home will once again take place in the MCU since Marvel and Sony solved their differences. Good sense prevailed, and Tom Holland’s Peter Parker will remain a vital part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
This one, well…this might be a live action Spider-Verse movie from the sound of it. Jamie Foxx will reprise his role as Electro from the maligned Amazing Spider-Man films and Alfred Molina will return from the Raimi era as Doctor Octopus.
Benedict Cumberbatch’s Doctor Strange will also star in the film by taking over MCU father figure duties from Tony Stark, and it’s starting to become clear that this will be the first big screen multiverse movie following the huge events of Loki. Rumors have been flying left and right for a while now, with fans hearing that everyone from Tobey Maguire’s Spider-Man to Charlie Cox’s Daredevil might have roles to play in No Way Home.
Hawkeye
Release Date: Autumn 2021
Jeremy Renner returns as Clint Barton to train his replacement as Hawkeye, Hailee Steinfeld’s Kate Bishop! Apparently based on the brilliant run of comics by Matt Fraction and David Aja, Hawkeye will also prominently feature Lucky the Pizza Dog, one of the great canines in Marvel Comics history.
The cast also includes Vera Farmiga as Eleanor Bishop, Fra Fee as Kazimerz Kazimierczak, Tony Dalton as Jack “Swordsman” Duquesne, Florence Pugh as Yelena Belova, Alaqua Cox as Maya “Echo” Lopez, and Zahn McClarnon as Willie Lincoln. We wrote more about all these new characters here.
Ms. Marvel
Release Date: Winter 2021
Ms. Marvel is finally coming to live action! Here’s the official synopsis for the series…
“Ms. Marvel introduces Kamala Khan—a 16-year-old Pakistani-American growing up in Jersey City. “A great student, an avid gamer and a voracious fan-fiction scribe, she has a special affinity for superheroes, particularly Captain Marvel. But Kamala struggles to fit in at home and at school—that is, until she gets super powers like the heroes she’s always looked up to. Life is easier with super powers, right?”
The cast includes Iman Vellani as Kamala Khan aka Ms. Marvel, Aramis Knight, Saagar Shaikh, Rish Shah, Zenobia Shroff, Mohan Kapur, Matt Lintz, Yasmeen Fletcher, Laith Naki, Azher Usman, Travina Springer, and Nimra Bucha. Episodes are directed by Adil El Arbi & Bilall Fallah, Meera Menon, and Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy.
This is going to be a big one, folks, because Kamala is going to be a significant player in Captain Marvel 2. How significant? The title of the movie is now The Marvels!
Morbius
Release Date: January 21, 2022
Spider-Man spinoff Morbius is Sony’s next big Marvel wild card, and it’ll officially be the first spinoff to properly connect to the MCU (even if Marvel Studios still isn’t officially acknowledging it in their own promotional materials the way they are with Spider-Man: No Way Home). Here’s the official synopsis for the film…
“Dangerously ill with a rare blood disorder, and determined to save others suffering his same fate, Dr. Morbius attempts a desperate gamble. What at first appears to be a radical success, a darkness inside him is unleashed and transforms this healer into a hunter.”
Safe House‘s Daniel Espinosa directs from a script by Matt Sazama, Burk Sharpless, Art Marcum, and Matt Holloway. Jared Leto stars as the vampiric title character, and the cast also includes Matt Smith, Adria Arjona, Jared Harris, Al Madrigal, and Tyrese Gibson.
Read more about the character of Michael Morbius here.
Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness
Release Date: March 25, 2022
Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness looks like it will open up the storytelling possibilities in the MCU like never before. And that’s just based on the name alone. Scott Derrickson was scheduled to direct, but bowed out because of “creative differences” with Marvel. But the good news is that Marvel found a suitable replacement in none other than Sam Raimi, who of course has plenty of superhero experience thanks to his Spider-Man trilogy in the early 2000s!
This movie has loads of connections to the wider MCU. Elizabeth Olsen will be there as Wanda Maximoff post-WandaVision, and the film will also connect to Loki and Spider-Man: No Way Home with its multiversal ambitions. There are also a few rumors doing the rounds that Jericho Drumm aka Brother Voodoo could be introduced in this sequel. We’ll keep an eye on that and update this if there’s any substance to them.
Thor: Love and Thunder
Release Date: May 6, 2022
Taika Waititi, who gave us the delightful Thor: Ragnarok, returns to write and direct this fourquel. Chris Hemsworth is back, Natalie Portman is your new Thor (yes, you read that right, Jane Foster will wield the hammer…just as she did in the comics!) and Christian Bale stars as the terrifying Gorr the God Butcher. Not only that, this movie will finally put Olympians in the MCU with Russell Crowe as Zeus. Can Hercules be far behind?
Oh, and did we mention that the Guardians of the Galaxy will be along for the ride, too?
Black Panther 2: Wakanda Forever
Release Date: July 8, 2022
Black Panther 2 is now called Black Panther: Wakanda Forever. Marvel has made it official that after the tragic, untimely death of Chadwick Boseman they have no intention of recasting the role of T’Challa, which is absolutely the right move.
Ryan Coogler will return as director, but there are no other details currently available. Interestingly, Coogler is also bringing a Wakanda TV series to Disney+ at some point in the future, too, and something tells us this Wakanda-centric title for the sequel is a sign of things to come.
Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse Sequel
Release Date: October 7, 2022
Is it technically an MCU movie? Nope. But with all the legal weirdness going on between Marvel and Sony, and this franchise’s very multiversal concept, who’s really to say that it ISN’T an MCU movie either, right? In any case, the sequel to the best Spider-Man movie of all time is coming in 2022 with Avatar: The Last Airbender mastermind Joaquim Dos Santos directing and David Callaham writing.
Captain Marvel 2: The Marvels
Release Date: November 11, 2022
WandaVision writer Megan McDonnell has been tapped to write the screenplay for Captain Marvel 2, which now boasts the title of The Marvels. You know what else is really cool? Candyman‘s Nia DaCosta will direct!
We have no idea where we’ll find Carol Danvers (Brie Larson) in the sequel to her hugely successful first standalone MCU entry. Will she be fighting to loosen her former Kree pals’ iron grip on a pre-Avengers galaxy? Or will the follow up film see her fighting for justice in the present?
In any case, we know that she’ll be facing off with Zawe Ashton as a currently-unnamed antagonist, and WandaVision‘s Monica Lambeau (Teyonah Parris) will also return in her superpowered state after the events of that game-changing show. Considering that Monica was once known as “Captain Marvel” in the comics, that title of The Marvels becomes more appropriate. And even MORE appropriate when you realize that Kamala Khan, Ms. Marvel, will also be making her big screen debut.
The Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special
Release Date: December, 2022
James Gunn will write and direct a new seasonal TV special featuring the Guardians of the Galaxy, with the main cast returning to star in it. It will be filmed alongside Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 and stream on Disney+ in December 2022. Just so ya know, it’s set between the events of Thor: Love and Thunder and Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3.
Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania
Release date: Feb. 17, 2023
Peyton Reed will return to direct the third installment of the Ant-Man saga, making him the first director in MCU history to complete a trilogy…perhaps the most unlikely trilogy in Marvel’s entire arsenal. Paul Rudd will return as Scott Lang, and you can certainly expect Evangeline Lilly to return as The Wasp and Michael Douglas as Hank Pym.
cnx.cmd.push(function() { cnx({ playerId: "106e33c0-3911-473c-b599-b1426db57530", }).render("0270c398a82f44f49c23c16122516796"); });
The villain of the film? That will be Kang the Conqueror, who will be played by Lovecraft Country‘s Jonathan Majors. The inclusion of Kang in the Ant-Man threequel makes a lot more sense if you’ve already watched Loki, as in that series we got to meet one of his Variants, “He Who Remains”. During the season finale, Majors was on hand as He Who Remains to explain that in opening up the multiverse, the MCU was exposing itself to his other Variants like Kang the Conqueror – who will definitely be much less amiable in Ant-Man 3 than He Who Remains.
Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3
Release date: May 5, 2023
After a tumultuous period which saw James Gunn fired and then rehired as Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 director, he will finally return to complete his spacefaring trilogy for the studio. However, Gunn can’t even begin filming Guardians 3 until he finishes some work on his HBO Max Peacemaker prequel.
Avengers: Endgame left the team in an interesting place, which will be further explored in the upcoming Thor: Love and Thunder. We broke down some of the story possibilities right here.
And then there are still some dates that Marvel has announced that they have yet to match projects to. Those dates are July 28, 2023, October 7, 2023 and November 10, 2023.
Some of those dates could very well be good fits for the following films…
Fantastic Four
The MCU Fantastic Four movie is finally happening! Marvel seems to be hinting that Fantastic Four will be their next priority after Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3. So is it possible that we’ll see it on July 28, 2023? That sure would be a great piece of summer blockbuster real estate to launch what might be the most important piece of the MCU going forward!
Marvel’s first family will join the Marvel Cinematic Universe in a film directed by Jon Watts, who did such a wonderful job with the first two MCU Spider-Man movies. That’s all the information that’s out there at the moment, but as soon as we have more, we’ll update this. We have our own theories on why Marvel went with the Fantastic Four before the X-Men, but that’s another story.
Blade
In 2019, Marvel announced that they would be rebooting the Blade franchise with Mahershala Ali playing the titular daywalker. Ali’s True Detective co-star – and former Blade villain – Stephen Dorff is excited to see what he can do with the character, and so are we. A director is currently being finalized, but it looks like the job will go to Mogul Mowgli helmer Bassam Tariq.
Could Marvel decide to drop this in that Oct. 7, 2023 release date? Considering that’s the Halloween season and Blade is, y’know, a vampire hunter, they’d have to be foolish not to, right?
Captain America 4
The Falcon and the Winter Soldier showrunner Malcolm Spellman is co-writing a currently-untitled Captain America 4 with another FWS alum, Dalan Musson. Those are pretty much all the details that are currently available on this one at this time, but at least we know that Anthony Mackie will return as Sam Wilson in that incredibly badass Captain America costume they gave him for that show. We wrote some more about the potential story possibilities for this one right here.
There’s no date or director for this one yet, so even 2023 seems like it might be a longshot.
Deadpool 3
Wendy Molyneux and Lizzie Molyneux-Loeglin will be the writing team tasked with bringing the Merc with a Mouth to the MCU. What a Deadpool 3 could look like in the interconnected Marvel Cinematic Universe is, of course, anybody’s guess, but if anyone can crack wise about the follies of this kind of corporate synergy, it’s Ryan Reynolds.
And then there’s the lingering TV stuff, at least two of which will arrive in 2022, with the balance likely to arrive in 2023…
She-Hulk
Tatiana Maslany will play Jennifer Walters, a lawyer who ends up with her cousin Bruce’s gamma-irradiated blood. Hilarity certainly ensues. Kevin Feige has promised that since this will be a courtroom show, you never know who else from the MCU could show up.
It’s possible we’ll get She-Hulk on Disney+ in 2022, but nothing is confirmed at this stage.
Moon Knight
Oscar Isaac will play Marc Spector, a disturbed fortune hunter who also happens to be the avenging avatar of an Egyptian moon god. Oscar Isaac is already training hard for the role, and the series is now officially in production, so we wouldn’t be surprised if we see this one on Disney+ in 2022. Ethan Hawke stars alongside Isaac, and the series is being directed by Mohamed Diab and The Endless duo Justin Benson and Aaron Moorhead!
Loki Season 2
As revealed at the end of Marvel’s multiverse-bombing Loki, the God of Mischief will be back for a second season on Disney+ after he and Sylvie changed the MCU forever in the season one finale. Details of what might be in store are currently thin on the ground, but we do know that director Kate Herron will not return to helm the second season. Tom Hiddleston will of course be back as the titular character, but everything else is up in the air right now, including confirmation on any of his co-stars. It would be great to see Owen Wilson reprise the role of Mobius, and catch up with Sylvie again after her encounter with He Who Remains.
Ironheart
The first of two series that will explore the legacy of Iron Man and Tony Stark in the MCU, Ironheart stars Dominique Thorne as Riri Williams, a teenager at M.I.T. who creates her own suit of armor to right the wrongs of the world.
Armor Wars
Don Cheadle will reprise his role as Rhodey and will have the solo spotlight in the War Machine armor in a series that deals with a nightmare scenario for the MCU: what if Tony Stark’s Iron Man technology fell into the wrong hands and was getting duplicated by villains? Based on a classic comics run, Armor Wars promises big action and lots of obscure bad guys. We can’t wait.
Secret Invasion
Samuel L. Jackson will return as Nick Fury alongside Ben Mendelsohn as Talos for a series about the shape-shifting Skrull infiltration of Earth. Kingsley Ben-Adir is apparently playing the villain of the series. Olivia Colman, Emilia Clarke, and Killian Scott also star.
On directing duties are Thomas Bezucha (Let Him Go) and Ali Selim (The Looming Tower) while Mr. Robot vet Kyle Bradstreet is the head writer.
Secret Invasion could be the biggest thing to happen to the MCU since Endgame.
Wakanda
Very few details are available on this one at the moment, but Ryan Coogler will develop at least one Wakanda-set TV series for Disney+. Could this have anything to do with that Wakanda Forever title for Black Panther 2? We wrote more about some of the implications of this here.
We’ll keep updating this with new information as it becomes available!

Updated Request Rules & Guidelines
My first set of WWE Fanfiction Requests!
Hey everyone, if you’re reading this and are interested in submitting a request here are the rules/ guidelines of my doing requests. I thought long and hard about doing this and while I’m nervous I feel like doing requests will give me a kick to write more.
Requests will remain open as long as I feel like. I have the right to close them but will give fair warning in advance of closing the request.
Rules/ Guidelines:
1.      All requests will be for male superstar / female reader (i.e. Finn Balor X Y/N). I have not written slash in a long time and am not prepared to jump back in. I will be dipping my toe back into that in the future but not now.
2.      No self-harm/rape/death stories. They aren’t for me. I can’t write them. Note: Other things such as depression, anxiety, etc. are okay and allowed to be a part of the request but I will not write extremely triggering things. It’s difficult to write for me and even more difficult for some to read.
3.      Requests will be filled as I am inspired by them. Not first come/first serve. You can’t rush writing.
4.      Relating to the above rule you must be patient. If you are pushy or flat-out mean about how long it is taking to fill your request I will not finish it, no matter how good an idea it is.
5.      I will write fluff, angst and smut. Be specific in what you are looking for.
6.      I will accept requests from Anonymous but please know that if I can’t reply to your request there is no way of notifying you when it’s going up/ if I would like clarification on your request.
7. If you request smut you must be 18 years of age or older (AKA off anonymous and someone that lists their age in their profile). Also, if you request smut I cannot guarantee it will happen. If it doesn’t fit the story I won’t just throw it in there.
If you want to help inspire me:
1.      Submit a particular image/ lyric/song/quote you associate with the request. I will try and use that as a guideline for my story.
2.      Give me specifics. Don’t just say “A cute fluffy story with Pete Dunne, please and thanks!” That’s not enough.
Wrestlers I will write for: (Note, I know much more about WWE wrestlers than other promotions so please be kind if I don’t their characterization just right.)
