Wait, you can use a "fixed" solfege instead of letters for notes? (Did I say that right? Is that even a term?) The concept is new to me lol. Because over here, we learned in such a way that which note gets what syllable depends on the key. Like in C major, G would be "so/sol," but in G major, G would be "do." But if C="do" no matter what, then yeah, G would be "sol!"

I'm fascinated by the differences in how these things are taught now!

I'm not sure what you mean, but probably because that's a wildly different concept??

Like. If you're doing a solfege (yes correct!), you'll always read/say the notes as do / re / mi etc etc (obvi with any accidentals), as they are written in the staff. So taking a C as example:

In the treble staff, this will always be a Do/C, right? Imagine you're doing scales on the piano.

You'll always begin a Cmaj scale with a Do, and do the octave (so, Do Re Mi / C D E etc etc).

If the key happens to be Gmaj, you'll begin in G/Sol, and go through the octave like that (Sol La Si / G A B etc).

But just as the notes on the staff don't "change" position regardless of key (so G is always on 2 line, etc), the notes also don't change in the solfege. It'd be like hearing/playing a B but calling it an F, if that makes sense?

I don't know if this is making sense, or if I'm reading your question wrong, but that's how it is!

ellie williams modern au! song fic?

i watched the movie juno and ellie plays guitar so bam this idea came into mind. maybe this is the start of a possible writing account for me?

first fic,i wrote the lyrics based of the way they sing it in the scene. mostly likely to be mistakes (probably a lot) no warnings and low caps intended! i hope you enjoy<3

you and ellie were both sat on the couch your legs sprawled over her lap as you both mindlessly scrolled away at your phones. you kept seeing multiple videos of couples covering the song “anyone else but you.” by the mouldy peaches and an idea popped into you’re head.

there you sat across from, ellie. unsure if asking her to do this would be a good idea, or totally stupid but nonetheless you asked.

“els?” your tone was sweet like usual whenever you spoke to her in moments like this. ellie, after hearing you’re voice made her look up from her own phone at whatever she was doing on it. “yeah babe?”

once again you thought about asking her before just spitting it out. “i keep seeing these.. videos. i was wondering if you wanna do this trend with me?” you gave her you’re phone to watch a video of a couple covering the song. one of the two strumming it on the guitar. while the other sang before that person began to sang.

she watched the whole thing you could barely read her face, but finally she looked up from the phone and smiled with a nod. she looked some what pleased? “you wanna do it now sweetheart?”

that made your heart skip a beat as you immediately nodded, crawling over to give her a kiss as a small thank you. she gladly accepted it, kissing you back before letting you break away to lead her to the small room ellie had in your shared apartment.

it was similar to the one in the farm but she had a computer in the corner of the room. some pencils scattered on the desk and an unfinished waiting across from it to be finished whenever ellie could be bothered. there were pictures of you two scattered over the walls with posters of bands/artists she was into.

ellie sat on her desk chair turning it to face you while you comfortably sat on the floor next to her. she reached for her guitar placing it on her lap placing her fingers on G, then Cmaj. she looked down at you with a heart warming smile on her face. ellie loved moments like this with you. when both of you were spending any amounts of time together doing anything it made her content and at peace in a sense.

you returned that smile to ellie before asking her if she was ready, she simply nodded at you before she began to strum. you sang juno’s parts and ellie sang paulie’s. you initiated the singing, “you’re a part time lover and a full time friend. the monkey on your back is the latest trend. i don’t see what anyone can see in anyone else.. but you.”

singing to eachother wasn’t something you both normally did. it had only happened once or twice before seriously, and other small times it was just as jokes or breaking into song randomly whenever either of you felt like it. by the way you were staring into ellie’s eyes so lovingly whenever she sang made her heart melt. now this was something ellie was willing to consider making a permanent thing. finding songs for the two of you to sing to eachother.

the song went on singing back and forth between eachother you couldn’t stop smiling up at ellie. you loved listening to her sing songs she’d wrote or covering ones you’d asked her too. this moment was perfect and you couldn’t get enough of it. “we both have shiny happy fits of rage. you want more fans, i want more stage. i don’t see what anyone can see in anyone else but you.”

the movie juno in its self had always been a favourite of yours growing up, so getting to sing this song with the girl you loved truly meant something deep to you. “you are always trying to keep it real. i’m in love with how you feel, i don’t see what anyone can see in anyone else but you.”

the song came to an end unfortunately for the both of you. ellie places the guitar back down against the wall where it was before she used it before returning her gaze to you. she patted her lap as a signal for you to sit on it which you gladly did. once you were sat on her lap she placed sweet kisses all over your face making you giggle which made her stop to look at you.

“didn’t know my girl could sing huh?” ellie teased lightly before resting her chin on your shoulder.

“well i definitely knew you could sing so..” of course you had to make some sort of cheeky remark. you relaxed into ellie with you’re back against her chest and her chin rested on your shoulder. “i liked that els.”

she thought for a moment knowing what you meant obviously, but she wanted to push further. “liked what baby?”

“us singing together.. not something we do. but i liked it and maybe we could do it now and again?” it was a stupid idea but if she said yes then that thought would automatically disappear. she said yes to doing this with you in the first place so you had little doubt she would say no now.

the thought of singing with you more made ellie’s heart flutter. ellie had already thought about this while the two of you were singing, seeing as she was two steps ahead of you. so answering you’re question didn’t need deeper thought because she knew this was something she’d look forward to.

“of course i’d like to do this with you again babe. gonna miss that sweet voice arent i?” she had a small smirk forming at the corner of her lips which made you elbow her. she fake winced pouting at you making silly puppy eyes, which ultimately made you roll your own eyes playfully before turning your head to kiss her pouted lips gently.

Piano Practice 15/11/24

I started off with the Cmaj/Amin scale. I could do the Cmajor pretty easily but the Amin I kept getting caught on the raised 7th.

I then had another go at Sick to Death which went slightly better. I could almost play it comfortably at 65bpm, the actual song is at 92.

I then tries some little pieces I wrote a while back and I'm cursing myself because I can only play them very slowly. I think the piano is the most strange intrument I play because I don't have the muscle memory to use mmy fingers/hands/wrists this way. It is very frustrating, but I'll just have to accept I am very much a noob at piano and will have to put in a lot of work to be good at it and not a select few songs I learned because I was hyperfocused. I really need to come up with a better plan to get better at this instrument.

Tyria Pride 2024 NA (Day 1) part 2

YEAH we had the Tyria Pride Anet person on our map for a bit. I also don't know why or how their colour changed like that, but trans and lesbian flag colours solidarity!! (they may have done it on the fly I imagine, but idk if it's just a visual glitch too since I swear they wen't back to the other one after laksjdf. Either way I love both versions)

Me and my attempts at getting good shots of the prismatic beams they were shooting everywhere (kinda spammy screenshots, but it was hard to time these right without doing so lol). SO pretty

I always love it when we cross bridges. Also more random screenshots.

LOL yeah once it started getting hella crowded my game decided to turn a lot of folks into having the blank default models and every time I'd turn around to this group of Charr, they would look like this while tposing before they loaded in properly.

And of course the last bit at the end <3 I sadly couldn't get good screenshots of this bc we were on the overflow side here, but hopefully I was able to sync my emotes properly in time as my actions felt either too early or too late whenever I did them lol.

Just learned of The King and Queen's Horrorween. A GW2 community event held annually every Halloween. Apparently it's been a thing since the first game but I only heard of it now. It's only on the EU servers and I guess people haven't posted about it on tumblr, only on the forums and other sites so I never knew...

I went to it yesterday and stayed for basically the whole event. It sure went on long. Here are some screenshots from the event!

Very fun event. I even won two weapon skins! Got the idea to make a spooky asura and one of the skins was a gargoyle weapon skin that inspired me to make them a gargoyle asura. Planning to make them on Halloween so the birthday is perfect
