Little sunshine au

So in this au Sabo and Ace are 17 ( basically swapping places with luffy).

After Sabo turns 17 they start their journey , and decide to take their 6 year old brother with them.

( also ace already has his devil fruit, he doesn’t like using it much ; again I’ll explain later)

Garp knows he can’t stop them, it’s actually for the best since the marines have been looking into the island with rumors of a stretchy boy and strange phenomenon in the ocean pop up. He tells them not get into too much Trouble and to protect each other and luffy. He does give them his den den number just in case.

It’s also why they end up taking the fairie instead of sailing out themselves, at least until they can buy a decent ship. They’re money hidden away In their bags. They plan on heading to syrup to get a ship , since it’s known for making good ships.

( they had asked mom to not to help them unless absolutely necessary; one because it feels like cheating: two it draws suspicion. So that’s why don’t just ask her to help them across to the next island.)

One of the rules they came up with for luffy was not to use his devil fruit abilities unless he’s in danger or they say it’s okay. Second is no talking to mom or sea kings in front of others .

Of course they forgot to make rules about normal kid stuff like staying close to them.

And of course luffy being luffy ends up running off on his own. In his exploration he runs into a girl named nami.

Luffy isn’t sure why he’s drawn to her; but he just knows she’s in some kind of trouble and a friend is something everyone one needs when they’re in trouble.

Nami sees the adorable little kid with the straw hat that’s a bit to big for him , can tell he’s wandered away from his guardian: ( both are currently panicking because they literally just started they’re adventure ; literally an hour ago and they had lost Luffy already.) decided to keep an eye on him till the little ball of sunshine finds them.

She manages to keep the little guy in one place long enough for his big brothers to arrive . The two teens Rushing over worried out of they’re minds ( they had almost went as far as to Ask mom for help but she only gave them amused splashes )once they were sure he was okay Ace bonks him on the head for running off, Sabo gently explains that it’s dangerous to wander by himself.

Luffy says he wasn’t by himself he was with his friend nami .

They thank nami for looking after him. They actually end up talking a bit before alvida arrives and attacks the ship.

They get split up. Ace ending up with nami and Sabo with lufffy and eventually run into koby.

In the middle of the pirate attack Luffy had walked up to Coby , similar to how he felt drawn to nami earlier asked him , asking if he had any snacks , like there wasn’t a raid going on. Sabo ends up grabbing them both to find a place to hide.

Ace notices nami sneaking onto the enemy ship, because he is a thief himself so knows one when he’s sees one. Nami is of course upset about him fallowing her and ruining her plan, Ace just explains that luffy would be upset if his friend got hurt.

Nami tells him that she doesn’t need his help, just as one of the pirates finds them; who Ace easily takes care of.

He tells her she can keep what ever she finds as long as they help her to the next island.

So basically Ace helps her steal tons of treasure.I’m return she’ll help them get to the next island.

Meanwhile Sabo and luffy are hiding in storage with Koby.

Koby apologizes for getting Sabo and luffy in trouble.

Luffy just says he’s stupid for cowardly. ( as bluntly as any child would ; which is basically canon luffy so not much different them)

Sabo tries to be a bit more gentle in his approach. He understands why Koby would be afraid but he just needs some encouragement to be brave.

Luffy asks if he has a dream.

Koby admits admits he wants to be a marine one who can protect people.

Luffy then tells him his dream, to become pirate king.

Koby is surprised that the kid isn’t even afraid when he tells him how dangerous it is , and how calm his older brother is about it. But Luffys conviction even though he’s only six is inspiring to Coby.

When alvida finds them Coby finally has the courage to stand up to her, luffy cheering that he isn’t a coward anymore, though it’s short lived when the woman moves to hit him.

Sabo steps in to help, comendimh the kid for standing up to his captor.

Sabo asks Coby to keep an eye on luffy , taking his pipe and starts kicking ass.

At some point ace joins in, saying when they’re done they got a ride waiting for them. They proceed to beat the hell out of the pirates, Koby I’m awe at just how strong the two of them are. Several things end up on fire and people get tossed over board before they over hear that marines are nearby responding to the distress call.

With that they grap luffy and Coby heading for the getaway boat.

Nami is waiting in a decent sized life boat, with treasure and aces bag. The boys hop in together telling her they need to get going

She tries asking about Coby but ace tells her he’ll explain later cause marines will be there soon and they need to get out of there.

She of course yells at them not to order her around before shoving the paddle to them because they’re much stronger and can row faster than her!

Luffy is giggling while Coby holds him wondering what he just got himself into.

And that’s the first episode

Thinking about that one guy I met on a train like a year or so ago. He was sitting across from me and I was sketching people quietly and he asked if I was doing observational stuff and I said yes and showed him and he asked if I would draw him and I was more than happy to. We were having deep conversations as I drew him, about life and materialism and mental health and medication and future plans and stuff. How he's grown happier once he let everything go, how he's taking care of his elderly mum for the foreseeable future but he's the happiest he's ever been. He talked about wanting to open a travelling barber shop. He had a face covered in tattoos and run down shoes but he really did look genuinely happy. When I finished the drawing I showed him, he was amazed and took a photo of it on his phone, not to post or anything, just to keep for himself. He hopped off the train a few stops later and said some really nice things as he left, shaking my hand, and I have literally never seen him again.

Title: Of Gods and Heroes

Main ship: Izou/Smoker

Super short summary: Mythology AU where Whitebeard and his sons are the gods who rule over the earth, and Smoker is a human hero and leader of his village Logue Town. When tragedy befalls Loge Town, both his, and Izou's live take an unexpected turn.

Rating: M (for violence and character death)

Any side ships: Hina/Smoker, and a hint towards Marco/Ace.

(I just really love this AU and would love to write a Marco/Ace fic in this AU, but I just... don't have any inpiration for a story for them 😂)

Title: Alabastan Nights (sorry not on AO3 yet but I have plans to put it on there. Maybe I can do that this and/or next week 🤔) - EDIT: first chapter is now on AO3!

Main ship: Marco/Ace

Super short summary: Arabian fairy tale like AU. Ace is a lonely thieving streetboy, until he obtains a mysterious lamp and meets some interesting people. Some of them might even be more than interesting. (and not the least bit important: Genie Thatch!)

Any side ships: Tiny hints of Izou/Smoker and Nami/Vivi.

Title: The Stars that Guide Us

Main ship: Shanks/Buggy

Super short summary: After a drunken fight, Shanks learns something about the stars. He'll always remember it. (Canon-compliant - at least the first 2 chapters, last one is in the future)

Rating: T

Any side ships: Nope. It's super a super short 3 chapter fic focused solely on them.

5.

Title: Crazy Little Thing Called Love - Universe (You are all One Piece fans, don't complain about the length of this 😂)

Main ship: Killer/Penguin

Super short summary: (I linked the whole universe because it really all ties in together.) Killer is the son of Kid, and Penguin is the son of Law. Main story is a high-school AU (a get-together, first times, and coming out story), but there are parts that take place before that, and parts that take place when they are adults. Over all, this is just a really light hearted story, not a lot of angst or anything.

Rating: EXPLICIT - be warned for underage sexual scenes in the main story (they are 15 and 16 and horny in that one), and pretty kinky stuff for the adults bits (will get even kinkier in the parts to come 🙈 They are still pretty horny 😂)

Any side ships: Kid/Law is a major side ship in this universe, and even has a few smaller fics in it focused on them.

A few smaller side ships: I guess you could say there's a bit of Killer/Bonney in the beginning (but reluctant 😂), a hint of Bartolomeo/Cavendish and Coby/Helmeppo, and later on there's Perona/Bonney/Hawkins. And also.... nope, not gonna tell you about that one yet 😛 There's also Killer/Penguin adding some to their sexual encounters when they are adults, but that's purely sexual, not romantic.

This last universe is still ongoing, but there is enough for you to read already! (and within the universe most fics have been finished)

St. Patrick's Day Outfits

Gave my characters their own St. Patrick's Day outfit because I'm not a fan of the one JC made. It feels like we already have an outfit like that and that hairstyle sucks.

I could have also just brought back Veruca's Irish Step Dancing costume. There's green in that costume it could have worked!

And it's only now that I realize that the clover is supposed to have four leaves not three 🤦‍♀️

Coby gives off pimp vibes from this design. Then again, he is a player and his Cardverse design also makes him look like one 🤣 His design here was also supposed to come with a feather coat or whatever they're called but it was too much. Maybe for the drawing I have in mind I'll add it 😆

Veruca, my sweet girl! Of course I am going to give her a dress. Veruca's attire mostly consists of skirts and dresses. Her design here is mostly inspired by fantasy tavern maids/waitresses. I feel like I remember seeing a costume like this in one of the many anime I watched. Also, the tiny hat. Veruca looks good with tiny hats, I definitely like how her headpiece suited her Cardverse design.

Carson's attire was inspired by all the St.Patrick's Day/Leprechaun costumes you can find on Google. Of course, I had to give it some flair to suit Carson's style. I even replaced his cassette tape earring for a golden clover. I was a little worried the colors wouldn't match, but it looks great on him!

I got drawing ideas for these designs.... well, it wouldn't be the first time I held off on the important stuff for other things 😆 Rohan and Charlie's drawings are gonna be put to the side for now.

PSYCHE. HERE’S MORE THOUGHTS ABOUT ONE PIECE.

The Grand Fleet went FUCKING NUTS when Luffy’s Emperor poster started circulating. I’m talking like world-shaking dumbassery. Parties, drawing his face on stuff, the Happousai Navy probably got really mad he attacked Kaido without them and are on their way across the New World swearing both revenge and also to help next time. WHICH EMPEROR ARE WE UP AGAINST NEXT? IS IT FUCKING BUGGY, BOSS???

Garp caused a huge commotion at Navy HQ like “THAT’S MY BOY” and then swinging wildly back to “HOW COULD YOU DO THIS TO ME” and overturning things.

Coby screamed so loudly that he got sentenced to chores again even though he’s a Vice-Admiral.

Sabo went back to Marineford and poured one out for Ace. Showed him the paper that called Luffy one of the Emperors of the Sea, and Sabo the Flame Emperor. Got kind of drunk and said “When we die eventually, you better be Emperor of the Dead when we get there!” and then he cried a lot.

Dandan cried and took down Garp’s “Protected by the Navy” sign and replaced it with the Straw Hat flag, then Garp came to yell at her and she told him an Emperor of the Sea was backing her bandit gang. They got in a fight.

EVERYONE in Syrup Village finally believes Usopp is a pirate. It’s finally happened. Nothing else changed.

Oh that’s a lie, the Usopp Pirates got in trouble for telling all their peers in school that they were trained by a pirate who works under an Emperor of the Sea. Nobody believed them.

One Piece Chapter 1056 - Initial Thoughts

So we are back again reaching the ending stages of Wano

There's still stuff to wrap up though, so let's get to it

Spoilers for the Chapter, Support the Official Release

We return with the Vinsmokes and there's Katakuri!

We return to the fallout of the Admiral attack, seems Shinobu was got too, but both she and Raizo are alive so Kaido's crew likely are too

Kin'emon regrets not being there, but is smitten that he got to spend time with Tsuru

Poor girl got a burn on her face, but other than that she's fine and wants to return to the capital

Finally a proper panel of Carrot

And, she's being made the new leader of Zou, and I don't quite agree with that (I will explain at the end)

So, Inu and Neko are planning to stay in Wano, and they're using Carrot's experience with the crew as a reason to put a 15 year old in charge of an ancient civilization

Carrot does make the point as well that there are more qualified people, including Wanda

They pull the Pedro card too, even though Pedro's will was to help Luffy get to the Dawn

Sukiyaki does indeed reveal himself to Momo and Hiyori

But the kids embrace him, thankful that they still have family

The Akazaya all knew as well...except Kin'emon but he'll play it cool

Seems Sukiyaki wants to lore dump but then resume as a commoner

Back with the crew and it's discussing the Pluton stuff

Luffy doesn't want it, but Franky is a little curious

Shinobu and Tama then appear, the former with a youthful appearance

Seems she's still recovering and that's what makes her look young and skinny

Tama's gonna be her apprentice, but does note she would like to travel with Luffy when she gets stronger

Caribou no! You had a change of heart remember don't sully it!

It is dangerous that he now knows about two ancient weapons

A few days pass and Momo's already getting a little stoic about the reparation plans

But the crew have already done their patented 'leave without saying goodbye to the major players' shtick

Momo and Kin'emon of course will not allow them to leave without saying bye to them specifically, and lucky for them they are delayed

See the three captains are arguing, planning on going their separate ways by sailing to separate islands

But Kid and Luffy want to go to the same island, they draw straws and Luffy loses

Law is going in the straight path, noting how the alliance is over, Luffy is forced into going the shortest distance, despite his claims for Yonko leeway

Buggy's Yonko promotion is validated though, he had formed the 'Cross Guild', with his two commanders: Crocodile and Mihawk!

Of course, there's gonna be more than what meets the eye, Zoro does feel like Mihawk wouldn't bow to anyone anyway, Crocodile is certainly not the take orders type either

When Monkey 'Got eaten by a snake and thought it was a cave, was going to write his own name while undercover to enter a tournament, punches people while holding an infamous cursed sword' D. Luffy calls you a moron you best believe you must be a moron

Seems Buggy is also putting bounties on Marines, which I guess does level the playing field but I swear if you touch the good marines there will be words; leave Smoker, Tashigi, T-Bone, Jonathon (make him canon Oda), Coby, Helmeppo, Fujitora and Drake alone! I doubt there's bounties for Garp though because even Buggy can't be that foolish

The trio seem to depart similarly to how they departed on Sabaody, Kid at least reminding Luffy that they're rivals when they leave the island

Law also gives Kid an etching of the Road Poneglyph since they all earned it equally

Kid seems to be setting his sights on a new target too: the Man Marked With Flames

I feel like this is Sabo, given the Translator's note, but it could be someone else entirely

Law and Robin seem to know, but Luffy and the audience do not

So this was a bittersweet chapter for me, lots of things coming to an end definitively.

We'll start of course with Carrot. You should know by now that I was very Carrot4Nakama, and still am, so it hurts that Oda would potentially rush her conclusion. It feels weak, and contradictory; Inu and Neko are staying in Wano to better protect it - the very thing Momo was trying to prove so people wouldn't be compelled to stay - but at the same time they are now leaving Zou in the hands of the musketeers who are proven to struggle against below-Yonko Commander strength, it feels counter-productive. In addition, it feels like Wanda is gonna be the one actually calling the shots, given how Carrot is still 15 and unlike Momo has never expressed the desire to lead Zou. And they are going to get invaders, because they have a Road Poneglyph, all it takes is one treacherous Mink or a vivre card to undermine Inu and Neko's reason of staying. Plus Zunesha bends to Momo's will anyway, so even if you lead the kingdom Momo is in the driver's seat for Zou anyway too. Don't get me wrong, leading Zou would've been a nice endgame for Carrot, but not right now, she needed a lot more time to grow that desire and the qualities of a leader to earn that outcome, being handed it right now just felt a little lazy. In that same vein though, as hugely unlikely as it may be, Oda may still swerve us and have Carrot stow away again anyway, it does feel like there's more adventure in her as well as room to mature, and as I said Pedro's will was oriented around helping the Straw Hats to the Dawn, if Carrot has that will 'more than anyone' it's better suited for Carrot to do an Oden-like move and journey with the Straw Hats first before ruling Zou. Unlikely? Probably, Denial? No Comment, but for me this does not feel satisfying to conclude Carrot's character this way.

I do feel a little bit blueballed by Pluton now too, we could at least have seen it, but I guess a time will come now that Caribou knows, I had hope for you man! You had a heart in the cover story but now you're going back to old ways. We're still yet to get any info on Zoro's heritage or the fact that Sea Prism is made in Wano, these feel like important stuff. What happened with Kaido and Big Mom too?

And another sad ending comes with the end of the Alliance, Law is setting off on his own, to find out about the D via Poneglyphs...which only 2 known people alive know how to read (does Kid have someone who can read it? Seems like he might). It's a sore spot because of how long we've spent and grown attached to Law to see him depart, but like the Ancient Weapons they'll probably show up later down the line. As for Kid, he drops a hint for the 'Man Marked With Flames' but we'll have to see who that is.

His important lore drop is Buggy, pulling a near-mirror image alliance that Luffy did by using Crocodile and Mihawk. There has to be some explanation on why they're paired up, likely out of convenience, but it at least validates his position and sets up a new endgame threat; the Straw Hats will have to fight the Cross Guild if Zoro is to defeat Mihawk, it'd be interesting if the Cross Guild included other pirates from the Paradise Saga: Krieg (and Ghin), Morgan, Kuro, Foxy, maybe Moria if he's not with/killed by Blackbeard, they don't have to be threats but it'd be a cool 'full circle' kinda thing. Overall I'm just glad Crocodile's back in the game.

Which leads us finally to Yamato, he's only at the end of the chapter but there has to be some nerves from fandom right? Luffy has never intended to leave an island without Nakama, he waited for Nami, Vivi, and Usopp (x2), and he chased down Chopper and Franky, it seems they really were going to leave without him, but stuff remains to be seen, Yamato at the least seems to want to go with Luffy but again, that doesn't automatically entitle you to Nakama. I'd also like to note this parallel with Carrot being bestowed a responsibility to rule she doesn't want, if she does stay to rule Zou it's hypocritical that she has to do that while pushing for Yamato to live free from responsibility to rule when he was named Shogun by Kaido.

Overall it was a good chapter, but I didn't vibe with it as much because of some potential to likely directions I don't at the current moment feel right about, it would seem we'll leave Wano next chapter which is sad too because it did feel like we had a mountain left to uncover.

Much to wrap up, but we know Oda will finish strong.
