So, I keep seeing people saying that Jason is Bruce’s favorite child, and the only one that was actually like a son to Bruce. (aside from Damian) Also that just because Dick and Bruce were partners/brothers too, it means that Dick isn’t really like Bruce’s son. How Jason and Bruce are each other’s favorite and Dick wishes he could be Bruce’s son (basically it just gets worse and worse jekskenjske)

JK JK my first fanon jason ask... what a historic day! basically you're completely right. I don't know where this frankly insane take comes from but whenever me, my mutuals, and pretty much anyone in this corner of the dc fandom sees a post like it we roll our eyes to the heavens. to put it simply the idea that jason is bruce's favorite and the only one he actually loved like a son is a complete fucking lie lol.

first of all to claim that bruce didn't love dick like a son is......I mean. let's just say people saying that have probably never read a comic with bruce and dick before. literally the number one thing to know about these characters is that the love bruce and dick have for each other can be seen from outer space. they have never been normal about each other. bruce raised dick since he was eight. they are thee og codependent father-son partners 'we saved each other we are pack bonded for life if anything happened to him i'd kill everyone in this room and then myself' duo. I mean... there is nuance to be had where they had a very complicated tangled up hard-to-label relationship that had elements of being father & son, elements of being brothers, and ofc partners as batman and robin but that is a function of their relationship being TOO crazy and close not the other way around lol. it is patently true that bruce and dick know each other better than anyone else in the world. it is pretty much true that if you're going to play the favorites game, it's hard to deny that dick is bruce's favorite. that's his eldest his most trusted his saving grace his person who understands him better than anyone. I could pull like an endless amount of panels as evidence that dick was bruce's favorite. there are so many 'dick is the only thing i did right' 'i only feel pride when i look at nightwing' etc etc. dick is his child in every way that matters basically

basically yeah claiming that jason is bruce's favorite and dick was never treated as bruce's son is just a lie. it's not true. it's like that 'jason is tim's favorite robin' nonsense that was going around a few months ago; it completely ignores canon and essential character elements in jason's favor. Fave duo/team up?

I love Charlie and Frank's pseudo-father and son relationship/best friendship/whatever the hell you want to call it.

They are So Weird (affectionate), individually and together. I love that they mesh so well. There are very few people on Earth who would be content to live in Charlie's garbage apartment and eat weird sandwiches, but Frank is one of them.

The way they try and care for each other in their own odd way is very sweet to me. Charlie bringing gum to the escape room, because he knew Frank would get anxious, sticks out as a good example. Frank trying to soothe Charlie in the spa when he melts down is another one.

On the other hand, they are so enmeshed, and I love that the manifestations of their enmeshment are just as weird as they are. Frank giving himself a tapeworm because he thought Charlie was making comments about his weight. The soup incident in season 15. Just strange and codependent behavior.

Oh, unpopular opinion time? I think TK and Owen’s relationship is really weirdly close. I know lots of familial relationships on tv are like that but I don’t get being so close with your parents that you can talk to them about each other’s sex lives or even enjoy working with them every single day. Maybe that’s more of a reflection on me but idk

OKAY! I have a lot of thoughts on this one, and I just think the issues they’ve had makes it hard for them to have so much togetherness and so little separation. TK had a while dilemma about not knowing if he wanted to be a firefighter basically because he wanted his father to be in his life and pay attention to him. I do think that TK did want to be a firefighter beyond his father’s influence, but I also think he never considered anything else either, and the main driving force was his relationship with his father.

I’m not against them talking about their sex lives or stuff of that nature, but they are a little closer than I think is healthy sometimes. They seem a bit codependent, and they still have many issues that I think they need to work through. Their lives are in so many ways intertwined, and I think that would make it harder to have a life of his own. Based on what TK has said, it makes it even more clear to me that his relationship with Owen is much more than a close father and son duo. I’m not going to say that closeness is fake, but it’s complicated by the mindset they both have going into the relationship (TK wanting his father to be part of his life and Owen probably feeling guilty about what he’s done in the past-- although I do think he is somewhat obvious to the full extent of the damage he’s caused).

I find TK and Owen’s relationship to be incredibly fascinating because it is so much more complex than you’d initially think.

Miraculous Kwami Swap

I’ve seen it done before where circumstances result in a different pair of heroes in Origins, but I’ve yet to see it fully expanded on just how wide-ranging the effects would be.

Imagine we have Alya and Nino get the Ladybug and Black Cat Miraculous.

For one, it would be better on principle because of the idea behind this change is that the perspective and focus would ultimately be more spread out among the characters rather than central on two. This is in part because neither Alya or Nino would have the direct tie to the central plot other than by being chosen as the heroes. This means no tie to the villain or to the guardian.

Furthermore, there would be much different dynamics—not only with each other, but with their families and civilian lives. Marinette and Adrien had it easy in a sense as each of them was an only child. Compare that with Nino, who has a younger brother and Alya, who has two younger sisters to watch out for as well as one older one who is rather dead-set on protecting her from the akumas she has to go out and fight.

On the plus side, this means Nino wouldn’t need Marinette’s help to beat Nora at arm wrestling. On the other plus side, Nora would strike me as the type to catch on to Alya’s secret and try to help her…through training her to fight.

Alya: I can never use my arms again!

On the same note, this means very different positions for Alya and Nino as the Ladybug and Black Cat.

Alya was shown to be very big on the idea of superheroes in Origins, so she would be pretty psyched about being one, in a manner rather similar to Adrien. She’d have to learn that the life of a superhero is actually much more difficult than expected with secrets and juggling responsibilities—something she may “know” about from comics, but not something she would understand until she actually has to live it—much like in Sapotis where she initially said she’d tell Marinette her identity at the start of the episode only to back out of doing so by the end.

She’s also pretty reckless in canon, meaning that any instances of Chat!Nino rescuing her would be more of a response to her not fully thinking things through than him needlessly jumping in the way. This would allow for more growth potential for Alya as she is forced to take a serious look at her actions and possible consequences.

There would also be more difficulty with the Lucky Charm. Alya isn’t shown to be one for thinking things through, and that is something the Ladybug position would require and force her to do. This ultimately forces Alya to slow down and consider things before acting—both in regards to jumping to conclusions, but also in leaping before she looks. There’s also the bonus that this would result in Chat!Nino being able to step in to help direct her at points and allow him more of a role and say in battles.

On the other end, Nino is shown to be laid back in canon, but he is shown to be pretty good at thinking on his feet and planning things out. Even as an akuma, it took quite a bit of planning and set up to arrange Adrien’s birthday party. There’s also the other party from Party Crasher where Nino plotted out everything from what excuses to give the girls to how to get into the mansion. Sure, it was a horrible plan for various reasons, but it was a well plotted out one. His level of planning actually seemed to be about on par with Marinette though without the universe as a whole working against him most of the time.

Nino would admittedly do well with the Ladybug Miraculous. He’s smart, he’s a quick thinker, and he’s good at planning. But he’s not quite so good with leadership. We saw during Horrificator how he was acting—changing the script without telling everyone or consulting Alya when it was HER script, being harsh on Mylene, replacing her too quickly without considering her feelings. These were things the show didn’t call him out for, but they were still issues that should have been noted and addressed.

Nino is noted to be more of a follower, perhaps even codependent to a degree. In two separate instances, he pretty much gave up once Alya was down even though he could have continued and helped the heroes turn things around. First during Zombizou when Alya was kissed by the zombies in the elevator, he chose to stay behind with her and let himself be kissed once she was converted. It was sweet, sure, but there was no real reason for that if he knew Ladybug could restore things and that he could help her do so and save Alya. The second time was during Heroes Day when Alya was hit by the hate arrow and akumatized, he was so dismayed by it that he let himself be taken down as well. Ignoring again that this wasn’t the end and there was something he could do. Furthermore, whatever decisions he made or sides he chose to take seemed mostly dependent on other people and what they wanted from him at the time rather than using his own judgement.

A cat should be able to stand and act alone when needed, and that’s something he could gain from the Black Cat miraculous. Not to mention that there’s also the matter of the kwamis and how these pairings would interact.

Of the possible options for human and kwami teams, the most gain and interesting interactions seems to be with Alya and Tikki and with Nino and Plagg. Tikki would be encouraging Alya’s better traits but also helping to rein her in when she jumps to conclusions or acts without thinking. She’d also push Alya to consider how other people feel. Plagg, on the other hand, is particularly ornery and would be the one encouraging Nino to act rather than sit back, even if the “acts” he’s encouraging would be less than particularly noble. I’d also see Plagg having less concerns about acting out and Nino having to act more as the responsible one and trying to keep Plagg in line. Since he doesn’t have to worry about Nino being locked up and isolated the way commonly threatened with Adrien, Plagg would have less reason to need to behave. And since Nino likely couldn’t afford massive amounts of Camembert, he’d have less incentive to behave either.

This would also change the dynamic of the love square. Alya would probably consider her partner as a love interest since they’re both heroes and partners and that’s generally how it goes in the comics. It’s not about putting him on a pedestal, it’s about falling into expectations and it would be another aspect of heroism that Alya would need a lesson on. Furthermore, Nino still starts out with the crush on Marinette.

So we’d have Alya and Nino juggling their hero duties, school, families, and friendships. But what about those friendships?

Adrien is still the son of the big bad, but he doesn’t know it. Furthermore, he knows nothing about the Miraculous either. Being Chat Noir had no real impact on a number of aspects of his civilian life, so he would still have the initial circumstances of his first day of school, would still be friends with Chloe, would still be accused of putting gum on Marinette’s seat, and would still end up making things right with her by the end of the day. So he’s still friends with Nino an is still the center of a lot of people’s affections: Marinette, Chloe, Lila, and Wayhem.

Without Chat Noir, Adrien wouldn’t have an outlet for all the energy and freedom-seeking, so we’d be seeing a more vocal and dare I say rebellious version of Adrien than the one we get in canon. So not only would we have more Adrien and Gabriel interaction and conflict, but that also means Adrien manages to have more free time to hang out with his friends.

Ultimately, when the main duo are allowed to start asking others for help, Adrien would be high on Nino’s list. Nino would give Adrien the fox because of the illusion that Adrien tends to maintain. He knows that Adrien hides himself behind a mask and so would give him a chance to show his true self. The fact that it would be later revealed that Adrien is the son of their arch enemy would hit them pretty hard. Especially if things happen that result in Adrien switching sides to help his father.

Also, since Adrien isn’t Chat, that means he never inspired or got a front row seat to Ladybug’s speech and never fell for her. So no love square. That means he’s able to explore possible feelings for any of the people interested in him. In particular, Marinette.

Now that she’s brought up, what role does Marinette play in this? Imagine if she gets drawn into the whole thing by accident?

Given Alya’s nature, she strikes me as a proactive hero—to the point where she would be trying to seek out Hawk Moth in her downtime. So she starts going over possible suspects, looking for clues to where the akuma are coming from, what all Hawk Moth would need for his lair, etc. And one of the people on the list is none other than Adrien Agreste.

Think about it! Monsters start attacking only after he first starts showing up. Their class have almost all been turned into akumas by this point. It’s like Hawk Moth is targeting them specifically. And Adrien is never around during an akuma fight (because he’s hiding like any sensible person)! And Adrien is one of the few people in class who hasn’t been akumatized! it can’t be coincidence!

So Alya pulls Marinette into her scheme to check out the Agreste mansion for clues. And they would find nothing since as it turns out, Adrien actually is innocent.

Except Nooroo in this version of events isn’t nearly as passive as his canon counterpart. The heroes are struggling and Gabriel is even more of an ass to his son and to Nooroo himself. Needless to say, he’s somewhat spiteful and feeling particularly passive aggressive.

So when a random school friend of Adrien’s just happens to visit (read: scope out the mansion for clues), Nooroo uses butterfly effect—which he IS the master and creator of thank you very much—to get the Peacock Miraculous into her bag in hopes that she can help in some way. Inform the heroes, get the Miraculous to Fu somehow, help Dusuu, just something more than the Peacock Miraculous staying trapped in the safe where Gabriel can use it.

So Marinette gets home unknowingly carrying a magical item in her bag. Later on, she discovers she now has a strange broach. And an even stranger creature attached.

Marinette: AH! IT’S A GIANT BIRD! A MOUSE! A-A BIRD-MOUSE!

Marinette is still pretty smart. She would figure out at some point that Alya is the Ladybug hero and want to help. But the Miraculous is damage and using it would cause her harm. So Marinette tries to avoid using the Peacock Miraculous while also trying to either find the Guardian or figure out some way to fix the broken magical artifact…to…some limited success.

Ultimately, Marinette is trying to help in her own way, but with the volatile situation, she tries to avoid transforming unless the heroes really need her to. Unfortunately, given the difficulty Alya and Nino are having as the heroes, as well as the changes with Adrien that are forcing Gabriel to push matters more quickly, Marinette ends up having to transform and help out on several occasions. And as she does, she gets weaker as the damaged Miraculous is taking its toll on her.

So let’s review:

We have Ladybug!Alya. Quick to action and struggling with thinking things through, with a Miraculous and kwami that are pushing her to become more of a leader and plan things out.

Black Cat!Nino. A follower and possible codependent, with a Miraculous and kwami that are prone to trouble and pushing him to act.

Fox!Adrien. More rebellious and passive aggressive. With a super villain father and much less inclined to simply sit by and let people hang on him or infringe upon him.

Peacock!Marinette. More shy but less anxious or overwhelmed due to not having the responsibility of Ladybug. Still creative and intelligent, enough to know who at least one of the superheroes is, and by pure happenstance ends up with the Peacock Miraculous.

This can only go well!

Lol personally I see them more as a father/son duo, though I think their relationship was left at an ambiguous enough stage to justify a lot of reinterpretations. From sassy rookie cop and veteran to edgy codependency. That kind of thing.

I don’t discriminate in the content I consume, but in my mind they are strictly platonic.

If I were to ship Connor with anyone, it would be Markus. They have about as many meaningful interactions as Markus and North anyway <.<

In AntiBunny http://antibunny.net/, while I'm tempted to say one of the more recent ones like Jack and Penelope, but I think one of the strongest is the relationship between Penelope and Pooky. Penelope starts off with a crush on Pooky, and Pooky starts off resenting Penelope, but they come to understand each other a lot more. Pooky comes to trust Penelope, and admire the strength of her convictions, and Penelope comes to respect Pooky's persistence. They'll never be a romantic couple, but they make each other stronger, and could be called friends. They provide a balance to one another's cynicism and idealism.

For Phantomarine (http://www.phantomarine.com/) absolutely Cheth and Phaedra - they both hate each other, but one is a ‘I love annoying you’ hatred and the other is a ‘I legitimately want to stab you’ hatred.(edited)

But also Pavel and his mom. It’s just... so wholesome? Like, just a good mom and a good son. No angst. Just so sweet and nice to write.

The entire crux of the story is the triangle of relationships between Cheth, Phaedra, and Pavel - so I’m excited for each ‘side’ of that triangle to finally connect. Then the comic shenanigans can reach their peak

Ah this is kinda spoilery, so I'll block out the text. For TGtaHR (http://tgtahr.spiderforest.com/), SPOILER my favorite relationship would have to be the one between Julian and his tutor Professor Jackson. It won't be showing up till later on, but he was Apollo's sorta live-in private teacher who wound up seeing Julian on the local news when they were first found, and decided to tutor them since he knew Russian and that was the only language Julian vaguely knew at the time. The two got really close, enough so that Prof. Jackson was going to adopt Julian once he found a more stable job and living conditions in Cleveland (being a temp live-in teacher isn't the most ideal situation), although he never came back. Still, it was a nice moment in Julian's excessively miserable life.(edited)

Current favourite at the moment is Foot, the future leader of the winged folks and Bell, who’s trying to uncover the secrets the adults are hiding. It’s a sort of misunderstood rival situation where one feels threatened by the other’s cleverness and the other just wants to get to the bottom of everything. One is a coward, running from his mistakes and refusal to own up, and the other reluctant with their own acceptance with inner strength and confidence. It definitely makes for a lot of conflict with not only themselves but with how the two interact with others-- there's always something to explore and discuss!(edited)

In Joe Is Dead, Cricket and Hopper have the best relationship. They each act so differently around other people than they do around each other. Hopper is usually so cold and aloof around her crew but when alone with Cricket she feels safe being vulnerable. Cricket is usually prickly and mean and pushes everyone away, but she cares a lot about Hopper and treats her gently and kindly. I feel like this question is a little difficult for me right now, just because in Ingress Adventuring Company https://www.ingress-comic.com/ every chapter has had a different secondary character so far. Even so, I think my favorite relationships so far are Toivo and Rosemary's relationship as father and daughter and Toivo and Aidan's relationship as exes but still friends. Both Rosemary and Aidan have to deal with Toivo being a little too reckless and impulsive, with their own frustrations about it in different ways. Especially Rosemary, who is reaching the age where she can understand that her dad has flaws and is a regular person who makes stupid decisions just as much as anyone else does.

This is a very hard question for me, as relationships are kind of the centerpiece of Millennium http://millennium.spiderforest.com/ ! Though I guess if I had to pick, I'd go ahead with the two main characters, Luzio and Sage. They're very much an "opposites attract" dynamic, and I love juxtaposition and all sorts of "balancing things out" kinds of relationships. So probably them!

When it comes to weapons, Celine and a garrote are one in the same. What’s more lethal than possessing the conviction to seek out resistance, only to instinctively pull tighter when it’s found? If she were a season, be it fall. Dancing leaves falling from grace, a distraction from the bitter cold leering around the corner. The sole Lefevere daughter is Whiskey, dark and opaque; simultaneously warming your insides while sparking a fire. Some of our favorite things can be surprisingly sinister, but never as much as Celine Chambers.

Personally, I think that what forms a kind, soft, considerate person is their instinctual need to find love and acceptance. This is a search that Celine never knew, because was born right beside all the companionship and understanding she would ever need. As a child she never quite understood other people’s vulnerabilities until she realized that they didn’t have a Lucien. And while he is her greatest strength, he is also her biggest weakness. Being so connected to someone, makes it feel like there is a phantom limb when they aren’t around. In many ways she is codependent on him and he is a factor in every single one of her decisions. Some would even say, her achilles heel.

If I had to sum Celine up, it would probably be in the fact that while she considers Valentina a daughter, but instead of nurturing her she poisons her with malice. Honestly, to Celine that is the best nurturing a girl could get. It also speaks volumes that she is heartless enough to ignore her children as much as she can. Most mothers would be so proud to have a son as just completely good as Zaine, but she’s disgusted.

Having no soul to call her own, Celine has found mild amusement in testing out a multiplicity of artificial ones. She does the same with Louboutin’s and expensive cars, it all depends on what type of mood she’s in. This is how she ‘relates’ to others, finding the experience utterly nauseating and gleaning nothing from it except conformation that they’re hopelessly inferior. She’s taken bottom tier emotions such as empathy and kindness for a spin and they proved to be completely frivolous time and time again. So she no longer bothers with them, and if you ask her she’s better for it. There’s more time to sharpen her wit and strengthen her resolve.

What drives Celine

1) Herself, in a Limited Edition Bugatti Veyron.

2) Her obsession with power and influence. It’s more than just an obsession, for Celine power and breathing go hand in hand.

5) But seriously, the one person who really drives her is Lucien of course. They feed off of each other and they are the most fabulously evil duo in the world. Whenever she wakes up missing a particular manipulative edge she calls up her brother and it snaps right back into place again.

Celine’s goals

1) To graduate from breaking people to breaking entire families and dynasties. It’s so much more fun, you know? She hardly got a kick out of creating her own empire, the real thrill is causing someone else’s to crumble.

2) Making sure that baby brother doesn’t bite the two hands that fed him all these years. Her biggest fear is that Giuliana will think she can be the Geppetto to their Pinocchio.

3) To break as many people as possible, and have fun doing it!

4) Staying away from her children and Selena as much as humanly possible.

“When the enemy is relaxed, make them toil. When full, starve them. When settled, make them move.” Sun Tzu. The perfect piece of wind down literature to calm oneself to. Before Celine could begin to appreciate the quote in applying it to her own superior art of war, something that could only be a fucking banshee tore across the hall. A serine crimson smirk twisted into a quick grimace before her immaculate features turned completely neutral. Kiah’s sobs reverberated through walls that Celine had so been meaning to soundproof. Her assistant’s first task in Rome would be to create a place to retreat into utter silence. Pink silk slid against white satin as Celine reluctantly slipped out of bed. With one swift movement her manicured hand cupped her cool glass of wine. Rose colored robes bellowed around her, feathering against the floor with the momentum she used in approaching the doorway.

Leaning against the doorframe, bored eyes drank in the sight of spoiled girl fighting with her father. As Kiah alternated between screaming and crying, she decided the scene was rather unflattering. Sure, this was an acceptable tactic for Celine as an infant, back when she lacked basic motor skills. It wasn’t until she was finally a toddler that she realized there were far more respectable ways to get what she wanted. From the sound of things Harland was going to have to dangle his daughter’s- their daughter’s- bank account over her head until they landed in Rome. Unable to remember a time where she was in want for more money, Celine supposed she should pity those that were. However, the national debt was at an all time low, and she always regarded as cash dirty and unhygienic. What did it get you, really? Objects can be broken, considering the amount of tantrums she threw, Kiah should know that. A goddess’s currency was power, a concept her daughter failed to grasp.

Regardless, incessant arguing was a surefire way to kill the buzz provided by few glasses of wine and The Art of War. Serenity was the motivation for Celine’s swift intervention, eyes on her daughter as she approached, sipping her white wine. Red nails found their way across Harland’s wide muscular back, and it was no surprise when he visibly relaxed. “Mon cherì, let me know if I need to purchase four plane tickets- or three.” Not bothering to address Kiah with even a glance, she pressed a quick kiss to her husband’s cheek before descending the stairs. At least Zaine knew how to be quiet.

In the kitchen, Celine was greeted by the only tolerable child in the household; her Persian cat Jinx. Not to be mistaken for a family cat, Jinx spared not a single should from her wrath, save for Celine. Everyone avoided the furball, even Lucien, because the hate radiating off of her was palpable. It made her even more ruthless than Celine, and she loved and respected Jinx for that. It was clear the feline appreciated the sudden peace and quiet, as did her owner who was now topping off her glass of wine. “Rome. Jinxy.” Celine purred against soft fur as she scooped the cat against her chest. “We’re going to rule Rome.”
