Pairing: Tim Bradford x fem!rookie!reader

Summary: Tim trains you differently, uncaring that he's accused of playing favorites. When he realizes that the scars your trauma left go deeper than your approach to police work, he accidentally falls in love with you, and you're beside him for it all.

Less than a minute after your TO slams on the brakes, declares he’s been shot, and demands you tell him exactly where you are, the radio crackles. Officer Bradford has been quiet since you answered him with the nearest cross streets and the direction the shop was facing, and his silence is something you assume you’ll have to grow used to. It’s better than the yelling, you think.

“7-Adam-19,” the dispatcher radios. “Domestic disturbance in your area.”

“Responding,” Tim replies. “What’s standard procedure for domestic calls, boot?”

You stiffen, straightening your back against the seat as you answer robotically, reciting your list of dos and don’ts for this type of call. Tim listens, glancing at you every few seconds. He has a reputation for judging his rookies quickly – and usually, he’s right in his judgements. Yet, he held off on deciding whether or not you would succeed. Though it’s your first day, Tim has, until now, been unsure what to think of you. You know your stuff; there’s no question of that.

“Good,” he murmurs when you finish. “Follow my lead.”

“Yes, sir,” you answer.

Tim slams the door to the shop, but when he walks past you to approach the front door of the dilapidated house, he realizes something. You’ve endured hard things, experiences you’ve probably kept to yourself and dealt with all alone. Despite that hurt and the devastation Tim knows comes with it, you decided to become a police officer. Whether to be the person you needed during the bad days and dark nights or to stop someone from going down the wrong path is irrelevant to Tim. All he knows now is that your potential outweighs your response to your memories, your dedication is stronger than your past. Tim will have to change his ways because you have what it takes to be a success story.

For the first time in his TO career, Tim adapts his training method to fit his rookie rather than molding his rookie to fit his style. For you, he can be different: gentler, kinder, quieter. You need to learn and grow, and Tim will do everything he can to help you...

Right after he kicks the front door in and starts yelling at the couple fighting on the kitchen floor.

“337.6,” Tim says.

Pinching your brows, you answer, “Unlawful use of a California Horse Racing license? Do you really think that will come up?”

“It’s not about whether or not you’ll need it,” Tim explains, “but whether or not you know it.”

“Okay.”

“Why do you know that one?”

“Why do you?” you challenge, smiling.

Tim shakes his head as he turns on to Pico. “628.5.”

You think for a moment, then remember, “Information attained during prosecution for criminal activity in relation to massage therapy is made available to the California Massage Therapy Council.”

Tim scoffs, though he's impressed by your knowledge of Penal Codes.

“I don’t remember the Business and Professions Code section, though,” you add softly.

“That’s fine,” Tim replies.

You stare out of the windshield, pulling your shoulders toward each other as you curl in on yourself.

“Boot,” Tim says. “You don’t have to know the whole code, just the premise.”

“What if it comes up?” you question.

“You’ve got a phone with internet and the entire LAPD dispatch at your disposal. Asking for help to fill in the blanks isn’t frowned upon, it’s good policing. You may ride alone someday but you are not expected to do this job by yourself.”

“10-50 multiple vehicles, at northeast intersection of Pico and Hauser,” dispatch alerts. “Service technician ETA seven minutes.”

Tim pulls the radio from the dashboard and attaches himself and you to the call. You flex your hands as he turns around and drives toward the accident scene.

“What would you like me to do, Officer Bradford?” you ask as Tim parks behind the wrecked cars.

“Get these people out of this lane,” he answers, opening his door. “We’ve got a few cones in the war bags, make them work.”

“Yes, sir.”

You open the trunk as Tim joins the other officers on the scene. While he checks for injuries and ensures statements will be taken, you direct a driver to go into the other lane.

“But I need to turn right!” he calls through his rolled-down window. “I’m late to a meeting!”

You walk to his car to assist him after checking that no one is trying to get through. “Go straight through when it’s clear, turn right on Carmona, and it’ll take you up to San Vincente,” you direct.

“But I’m going to Olympic,” he rambles quickly, gesturing to his GPS.

“You’re from out of town?”

“That obvious?”

You smile and point straight. “Go through this light. Right on Carmona, which merges into Masselin after you cross San Vincente. That’ll get you straight to Olympic.”

“Okay. Right, right.”

“Yes, sir.”

“Thanks, officer.”

He pulls up to the white line at the intersection just as the light changes to red. Tim says your name, then gestures to the traffic backed up in the Northbound lane.

“Sorry,” you say.

As you turn to jog across the street and direct traffic, Tim calls your name again.

“One thing at a time,” he reminds you. “Good work.”

You nod, then look both ways. You’re out of earshot and are directing drivers to merge before crossing the intersection when Officers Lucy Chen and John Nolan look at your TO with wide eyes.

“What?” Tim questions.

“You just said good work,” Lucy says. “To a rookie.”

“You’re being… nice,” Nolan adds.

“I had to remind myself not to cry on numerous occasions as your rookie, but you tell her good job? I didn’t know you played favorites, Tim.”

“I’m not playing favorites,” Tim defends. He looks over his shoulder to check on you, then sighs. “Are we going to move these cars out of the way or talk about my teaching style?”

“EMTs are here to check the drivers, so we could do both,” Nolan suggests.

“Go put the sedan in neutral, Chen,” Tim instructs. “Nolan, you’re pushing.”

The service technicians arrive as Tim, Lucy, and Nolan get the first car out of the lane. As they take over, and another thanks you for your help and begins directing traffic, Tim leans against the shop and watches you return.

“Are you okay, Officer Bradford?” you inquire.

“How many times did you get flipped off?” he asks rather than answering.

“Four,” you answer. “Sir.”

“Should’ve written them tickets.”

Your brows raise, and you press your hands against your legs to stop yourself from wringing your fingers together. “Really?”

Tim shrugs as he says, “Up to the officer. In a backup like that, no, but if any of them had gotten hostile, absolutely.”

“I’ll remember that.”

“I know you will,” Tim replies, pushing off the shop. “Let’s go.”

As you buckle your seatbelt, a robbery in progress call comes through, and you gladly accept Tim’s offer to take the lead when you arrive at the nearby drugstore, smiling at his faith in you.

“Did you know Tim has a favorite officer?” Lucy asks.

“Yeah,” Angela replies. “It’s me.”

Nyla barks a sarcastic laugh, then smiles when Angela glares at her.

“Who is it this week?” Nyla inquires.

Lucy looks around, then leans forward to whisper, “His boot.”

“Tim?” Nyla asks, still sarcastic. “Falling for a boot? Who would’a thought it.”

“What we had was not this,” Lucy argues. “We were a fling, and now we’re friends. He’s- he’s nice to her, talks to her without yelling, corrects her without getting mad. It’s weird.”

“Lucy,” Angela begins. “As a TO, you have to do what is best for the rookie, not for you. Maybe that’s what she needs. For some people, the yelling and obnoxious reprimands are too much.”

“Tim Bradford does not care about being too much,” Lucy points out.

“Got a point there,” Nyla agrees, leaning back in her chair. “He breaks boots’ spirits, regardless of what they need. There must be something else going on.”

Angela juts her chin toward the door, and Lucy and Nyla turn in time to see Tim leading you into the station. You’re walking side-by-side, and he’s nodding along as you speak. Tim watches your face, then glances at your small hand motions. When one side of his lips quirks up, and he shakes his head, Angela and Nyla look at each other.

“See?!” Lucy exclaims when you turn out of sight.

“Oh, we see,” Nyla replies.

“So, what does it mean?”

“Ever heard of kindred souls?” Angela asks.

Lucy hesitates as Angela and Nyla stand to leave, then decides, “Tim is not kindred anything.”

“Maybe not to you,” Nyla says over her shoulder.

“Is she okay?” you ask.

Tim scrubs an antiseptic wipe across his knuckles as he returns from the ambulance. You were expecting the worst when you got a call for a possible 187, but walking into a home with two screaming teenagers and a bleeding child was far worse.

“Paramedics aren’t sure,” Tim answers. “They’re rushing her to UCLA Children's.”

“It doesn’t make any sense,” you murmur.

“No,” Tim agrees. “The detectives will figure out what happened, but unfortunately, we rarely get to play a part in deciphering the puzzle.”

You nod, tapping the toe of your right boot against the asphalt. If you’d gotten here faster, if you’d urged Tim to go inside the back door, or radioed for an ambulance as soon as the call came in, maybe the young girl fighting for her life would have a better chance.

“Hey,” Tim says. You don’t look up, so he lays his hand on your upper back and says, “It’s not our fault.”

You stiffen beneath his hand. Unable to remember the last time you were touched like this, you fight the urge to push him away as pain like pins and needles erupts under the warmth he gives. Then, suddenly, it passes, and the only thing you can feel is the comfort he provides.

Your muscles relax, and your shoulders drop as you unconsciously lean against his hand. Tim spreads his fingers when you seem to melt beneath him. At first, he thinks you’re going to fall. But, as quickly as you went from tense to wholly relaxed, a voice in his mind says, Oh.

There was no question that you’ve had hard times and seen and experienced difficult things that shaped who you are today, but Tim missed your touch starvation before now. With his hand on your back, Tim watches you take a deep breath before you look at him.

“There’s,” he begins, trailing off.

“I know it’s not our fault,” you say softly. “Thank you.”

Tim swallows as he nods, wondering why his hand fits so well. A car pulls over on the other side of the street, and Tim withdraws his hand when Nyla and Angela exit the front seats.

He nods to you before you begin speaking with the detectives, and the admiration you had for your TO and his knowledge begins shifting into something more.

“You alright?” Tim asks.

You raise your hand to your shoulder, press it lightly, and nod. Your frown tells Tim differently, and he gently hooks his finger beneath the collar of your uniform. He doesn’t have to pull the fabric far to see the redness of your skin.

“Get in the shop,” he says. “We have to get that checked.”

“It’ll be fine,” you reply. “Just sore.”

“Wasn’t a question.”

“Sir, yes, sir,” you answer with a salute.

Tim shakes his head and shifts the car into drive. It’s been nearly two weeks since Tim laid his hand on your back, and he’s lost count of how many easy touches he’s given you since then. But it works for both of you. You’re an even better cop than Tim expected. If he’d ask, you’d tell him it’s because of him.

The shop is filled with a tense silence as you drive back to the station. Tim is sitting like a statue in the passenger seat, and the man behind you stares at the back of your head as if he’s trying to make it explode.

You’ve known since the very first call of your training – a domestic disturbance – that Tim’s past affects him. Maybe you can see his trauma because you have your own, or it's evident because you cared enough to look. Either way, you know that calls like this affect him.

Finding a little boy hiding in the closet with a bruise on his cheek and drywall dust in his matted hair broke your heart, but it made Tim angry. You had to pull him off the man sitting behind you, and it’s only because of your demands and warnings that they’re both sitting in silence.

When you pull up to the station, an officer is waiting to take your arrest into custody, and you thank him before you return to the streets of Los Angeles.

“Do you want to talk about it?” you ask after several minutes alone.

“No,” Tim replies.

“Yeah, me neither,” you agree. “Wanna talk about the Braves?”

Tim jerks toward the door, his eyes wide in shock.

“Welcome back,” you mutter.

“It...” Tim begins.

“It’s hard,” you finish for him. “Especially when it reminds you of something or someone you recognize. I get it.”

“I know you do,” Tim murmurs.

“That’s why you’re so nice to me.”

“I’m just teaching you.”

You smile as you slow, parking outside a small strip mall. Turning toward Tim, you explain, “I’ve heard the stories, Officer Bradford. I know you don’t treat all of your rookies like this. But I wouldn’t be here if it weren’t for you.”

Tim nods. “Do you want to talk about it?”

“Not today.”

“Wanna talk about the Dodgers?”

“You’d like that.”

“You wouldn’t?”

Your smile matches Tim’s, and everything feels lighter when Angela interrupts to ask for assistance with a new case.

“Big day tomorrow,” Tim reminds you as you walk out of the station together. “Get some sleep, don’t overstudy, and know you’re going to do great.”

“That’s it?” you ask. “No warning? Now if you make less than a 93, it’s a failure?”

“Lucy?” Tim questions.

You shrug, but Tim raises his hand, wrapping his fingers around the crook of your elbow to stop you.

“You are not Officer Chen. You are not a copied version of me. You are your own officer, your own person, and you do what you are capable of doing.”

“What if I’m not capable of doing this?”

“You are.”

“Only because of you,” you whisper.

“You did the work. I just offered an assist.”

You glance at Tim’s hand on your arm and don’t hesitate to wrap your arms around his neck. Hugging him tightly, you smile against his shoulder as he returns the hug. His light touches changed your life, but initiating physical affection and taking what you want is different.

“Thank you,” you say. “For everything.”

“You did the heavy lifting,” Tim replies.

As you step back, Tim’s hands pause on your waist. He looks at you, almost like he wants to say or do more. But then he steps back and wishes you a good night.

Alone in your apartment after graduating to short sleeves, you raise a glass and congratulate yourself. Your favorite movie is queued, you picked up dinner from the best restaurant in Los Angeles, and a congratulations card from Detective Lopez is now displayed on your bookcase. Yet, it feels like something is missing. While the movie plays, your thoughts wander to Tim.

A loud knock on your door distracts you from your daydreaming and the quiet night in. Pausing your movie, you walk to the door and look through the peephole. You smile as you open the door and invite your surprise visitor inside.

“Tim- Officer Bradford,” you greet. “What are you doing here?”

“We’re off the clock,” he reminds you. He sees your table and asks, “Celebrating?”

“Yeah.” Shrugging, you explain, “I figured, I made it this far.”

“It’s a big accomplishment. Have room for an extra guest?”

“Depends on the guest.”

Tim smiles and offers you a card. You thank him and set it on the counter as you offer to get him a drink or something to eat.

“I’m good, thank you.”

You nod, leaning against the counter as you look at him. He meets your eyes, and the silence around you is anything but awkward as you stare at one another.

“I came to congratulate you,” he says after a moment.

“Thank you.”

“You were right. I trained you differently.”

“Why?”

“Because I could tell that you were different. Whatever it was in your past that led you here, it made you special. It affected you, so I wanted to use that, let it help you rather than hurt you.”

“You never asked,” you muse.

“People who want to talk about it tend to start that conversation themselves.”

“Which you never do.”

“Not often, no.”

“Whatever happened to you, Tim, whether it made you the man you are or if you are here today in spite of it, you’re a good man.”

“Same to you.”

“You think I’m a good man?” you joke, smiling after the serious moment.

“It’s not obvious?” he replies.

You raise your hands to playfully push Tim away from you, but he catches your wrists and holds your palms against his chest. Standing together, you continue looking into his eyes. You’ve seen more in each other during your training than anyone else has ever cared enough to look for.

Falling in love with Tim was not intentional, and it wasn’t like free falling. After he touched you, he brought you back to life, and every day after, you fell a little more for him.

“Why’d you let me hug you?” you whisper.

“Because I wanted it, too,” he replies.

Tim brushes his thumb over the pulse point on your wrist. He releases your hand and cups your neck, tracing your jawline. You lean toward him while he pulls you closer.

Tim’s kiss feels like entering a new world, like coming home and finding paradise simultaneously. Sliding your hands up his chest, you shiver against Tim when his arm wraps around your waist. Tim bends slightly, lowering his hand to your hips before he lifts you. You don’t break the kiss as he sets you on the counter, and as his fingers tangle in your hair, you hold his jaw and lose yourself.

Through each breath, each movement, you give a piece of yourself to Tim and accept the pieces he offers you. Remembering that you stiffened and considered pushing him away the first time he touched you, you chuckle against Tim’s lips.

“What’s so funny?” he questions, pulling away and straightening your hair.

“I was touch starved a few months ago,” you reply. “And now you let me take whatever affection I want.”

“You’re welcome.”

You push your hand against Tim’s abs, and he wraps his arm around your shoulder.

“Some people think you were playing favorites with me,” you muse, looking up at him.

“I was,” he answers. “Still am.”

“Lucky me,” you murmur before kissing his jaw and tugging his shirt to bring him close again.

Midheaven in signs and how can you become famous

Welcome to my new astrology observation, besties! So, did you know that you can use your Midheaven (Medium Coeli or MC) placements to see how your career path is going to go? Midheaven is the highest point in our natal chart and it represents our career, reputation, how people are going to perceive us etc. Keep in mind that the Midheaven doesn't describe your personality, that's what Ascendant is actually about. Midheaven rather tells us how we are going to behave in our work place what could be known for. This observation is going to be about how can you use your Midheaven sign to become well-known and noticeable in any of your sphere. Take it as it resonates and leave what doesn't. Now, let's get into it!

Midheaven in Aries - I think that you should act confident and bold if you want to be successful in your career. Aries is ruled by Mars which is associated with war, aggression and passion, so you might seem a little bit aggressive in the eyes of other people, even if you're actually not (IC in Libra). Aries rules over The Emperor card, while Mars rules over The Tower card in Major Arcana. By saying that, I feel that using your leaderships skills can make you more successful and even more noticeable (The Emperor's influence). Your career path may likely to be filled with a lot of ups and downs, which is the influence of The Tower card. Taurus is ruled by Venus and the Moon is exalted in this sign, so it's a great placement for any artistic type of career. You may be noticeable when you show your elegancy, your feminine side or when you radiate beauty. Taurus rules over The Hierophant card, while Venus rules over The Empress card. The Hierophant is associated with tradition and conformity, while The Empress represents the divine feminine energy. This tells me that your public presence may be traditional or you may look the way that people expect you to look. You might seem to people that you're a normal or naturally beautiful person.

This is the vibe I feel every time I hear about Leo Midheaven placement and you're one of the performers out there. I mean you should be one of them. You might attract the people to you when you use your creative talents, express yourself and get onto the stage. You could also work with the children, because the 5th house is related to them, or you may just act childish in your work environment or in the public eyes. Taxes & Benefits Mod + New Active Career - DOWNLOAD

One of my sims was earning a little too much money and somehow this spiralled into me developing this mod. Introducing a very configurable tax and benefit system alongside an all new active career!

The tax and benefit system is modelled after the system we have here in England. All tax and benefit options are configurable and sims will only be opted in if you want them to. See the included documentation for a proper feature breakdown.

There are three types of taxes:

Council Tax (a property tax)

Business Tax

National Insurance (an income tax)

There are four types of benefits:

Universal Credit

Housing Benefit

Child Benefit

Job Seekers Allowance

Civil Service Career

Work for the HSRC in this fully functional active career.

There are 36 jobs which can be completed: 27 are custom career opportunities (like in the private eye career), 9 of them are custom active jobs (like in the interior decorator or firefighter career).

Jobs include: checking benefit eligibility for sims around town, attending job fairs, auditing, community outreach, responding to council house repair requests, and things of that nature.

Communication Booth

Civil Servants are given communication booths which can be placed anywhere in the world. This object has 2 geostates and can be set up or packed down when not needed.

Council Houses

Properties that are not owned by a sim are council houses. There are some unique interactions for these homes. For one, they can be more susceptible to pests (if enabled in the tuning, that is).

Complain to the Council

Depending on the type of property the sim lives in, they can complain to the council about housing issues such as overcrowding, broken facilities, or vermin.

Social Interactions

There are 12 new social interactions found under Friendly, Funny and Mean.

THE LAST OF US, and the israeli themes surrounding it

i'm very glad that people were able to see one of the previous things i published, where i complied a series of links that you can use to learn more of what's going on in gaza, how you can help, places you need to boycott, etc. however, at the end of the post, there is a large part of it that is DIRECTLY meant for people who play or watch the last of us, or play the last of us 2.

the last of us 2 in specific is not at all elusive in displaying the chilling themes we are seeing before us today. what boggles my mind, is that a select few individuals are choosing to keep publishing fics, reblogging them, uploading content that has NOTHING to do with what's going on, etc. also, you can't reblog one thing about palestine and claim that you care, then flood your account or people's home pages in fanfiction, especially during a media blackout. it just doesn't work like that.

i took the time to make a post discussing all of the israeli/palestinian themes that the games as a whole, but mainly the second one, display. if you are my mutual, a friend, a fan of my work, or a fan of the game or show, then i 100% demand you read this. if you can read fics for hours, you can spend time to read a post discussing the universe those very fics came from.

a lot of us are now aware of the last of us's nature in regards to the ongoing genocide, but not many people know the specifics of it. after seeing this post last night (the person who made this, you are an angel), i decided to take the time to dive into the specifics of the last of us 2's israeli nature, on a logical level, but also a moral level, using a list of sources to help me along, which will be linked at the end of this post. i will link the sources along the way so you know which sources i got my information from.

regardless of if this changes anyone's mind about ignoring the media blackout, or not giving a fuck about what's going on period, know this: regardless of how you feel, regardless of what you believe, from the river to the see, palestine will be free. at this fucking point, the people who are on the right side will keep speaking out and spreading awareness, regardless if you are here to do it with us. that's it. now, let's get into this.

UPCOMING DISCUSSIONS: neil druckmann, the last of us 1, the last of us 2, the last of us show and zionism in the show's cast, boycotting the game and show, and conclusion

NEIL DRUCKMANN

45-year-old neil druckmann, who was the co-director and co-writer for the last of us 2, was born in tel aviv, israel in 1978. according to the above source, druckmann was raised in a settlement in the west bank, where he was surrounded by violence on a daily basis. comics, movies, and most of all, video games, became an escape for him as a child, before he and his family moved to miami, floridawhen he was 10 years old.

to water down the full story that you can, again, read here, druckmann went to college to major in criminology. however, when he was in college, druckmann took a compsci course, that later lead to his major becoming coding as opposed to criminology. soon after, he knew he wanted a career that related to one thing: video games.

in the summer of 2013, the last of us part 1 was released, and it was renowned as one of best video games to have ever been made. in 2020, druckmann and nd released the last of us part 2, followed by the 2022 release of HBO's show based on the first video game. druckmann played a huge part on set, being not only the co-creator and co-writer of the show, but also having directed an episode himself. druckmann will remain involved in the second season of the show.

bringing up neil druckmann’s background is a crucial aspect of what’s upcoming in this post, hence why i wanted to discuss it at all. druckmann growing up in israel is one of the sole reasons the last of us was ever made at all, and not only that: it is the reason why the second game is the way it is, because neil druckmann planted his israeli ideologies right into it.

so, let’s speak on it.

THE LAST OF US 1

on the official the last of us podcast, neil druckmann himself discussed the last of us' link to the israeli-palestinian conflict, and now, genocide. the general consensus was that people will go ridiculously far for the people that they love. this idea of druckmann's was revealed when he discussed the first time the main character of the first game, joel miller, kills somebody to keep his daughter, sarah, safe from harm. this is one of the first scenes in the game prior to the time jump, where the pair's neighbor becomes infected, and attacks them. joel uses a gun to kill him so that the neighbor doesn't harm sarah.

the following is a quote i would like to copy from this link word for word: "Druckmann said he follows "a lot of Israeli politics" and compared the incident to Israel's release of hundreds of Palestinians prisoners in exchange for the captured Israeli soldier Gilad Shalit in 2011."

the plot of the first game, as neil druckmann explained, is based around a moral dilemma. he discusses how if joel had to kill a man to save a random kid, would he have done it? druckmann himself says, "but when it was his tribe, his daughter, there was no question about what he was going to do."

while the first game, in my opinion, isn't as heavily centered around israeli themes as the second game is, regardless, it is heavily crucial to note that the basis of the first game derived from a real-life incident involving israel and palestine, where hundreds of palestinian people (edit: i believe it is more than 1,000) were released from imprisonment, all in exchange for one israeli soldier. in the second game, the israeli-palestinian themes, if you look closely enough, scream out at you.

let's talk about it.

THE LAST OF US 2

"There is a common saying that if you seek revenge, you should dig two graves. Playing The Last of Us Part II is like being made to dig those graves with your teeth (Zacny)."

nd's 2022 the last of us part II is described down to the last letter in the above quote, albeit the game's utterly obvious israeli nature. in this post, the creator, rob zacny, goes on to discuss the game's theme of a "cycle of violence," and how the game reminds you in each grotesque encounter of the cruel ideology behind that. due to what occurs in the last of us 1, joel, basically, reaps what he sows when he is murdered for killing a surgeon who, along with the group said surgeon was a member of, the fireflies, was planning to perform surgery on ellie, who joel had since grown close to, in search of a cure for the infection that has plagued their world for decades. four years later, the second playable character in the game, who is introduced in the first half hour or so, abby anderson, kills joel to avenge the surgeon who was murdered, who happened to be her father. from then on, the game follows what, again, can only be described as a "cycle of violence." joel kills abby's dad, abby kills joel, ellie kills all of abby's friends, aims to kill abby in the final battle of the game, but spares abby when ellie's conscious morally attacks her for her decisions.

throughout the 24 odd hour gameplay, the player is allowed to play as ellie and abby, abby's parts of the game being arguably longer than ellie's. the idea this, i believe, is meant to introduce, is one of perspective: the player is meant to be loyal to joel miller once the first game has been finished, so when he is killed, they are inclined to make abby pay for it. however, abby's perspective, both in the past and as the present course of the game goes on, is meant to make the player understand why she did what she did. thus, the moral: there are no good guys in this game. every person is as equally bad as the following, and no one is innocent. however, when we consider the israeli-palestinian nature of this ideology and how it is presented in the last of us part 2, it simply doesn't work like this.

“I suspect that some players, if they consciously clock the parallels at all, will think The Last of Us Part II is taking a balanced and fair perspective on that conflict, humanizing and exposing flaws in both sides of its in-game analogues. But as someone who grew up in Israel, I recognized a familiar, firmly Israeli way of seeing and explaining the conflict which tries to appear evenhanded and even enlightened, but in practice marginalizes Palestinian experience in a manner that perpetuates a horrific status quo (Maiberg).”

when discussing the last of us part 2’s plot, one could 100% argue that there really aren’t good guys on the dual sides of the game. if you compare ellie and abby, you know that ellie went on a murder frenzy to get revenge on abby for killing joel. on abby’s side of it all, you know that abby wasn’t all that great before coming across lev and yara, and even then, she killed people to do what everyone in said world aims to do: survive. prior to finding lev and yara, abby had killed numerous people before, and did, as the player sees, handle joel very cruelly before she ended up killing him. here’s one more example, one that’s more random (but it’s simply to compare abby vs. ellie’s people, if you will): joel and manny. joel went on a cross country murder spree to keep ellie safe, and killed a building full of people at the end of the game to save her life. in regards to manny, if you recall a discussion that manny and mel had in the beginning of abby’s parts of the game, the pair are discussing a happening where a group aside from the wlf, the seraphites (which we will discuss later) attacked them because the wlf killed children who were a part of their (the seraphite’s) group. manny voiced how he would prefer to keep their people (the wlf) safe, and challenges mel, implying that those “kids” weren’t really kids, because they were the ones who attacked their guys (the wlf) in the first place. as a general consensus, manny kills several people throughout the course of the game, which can be inferred or seen by the player, making him, for the sake of what i’m getting at, a bad guy.

we see in the game how ellie and abby’s people are unanimously bad. the last of us is set in a world where laws and morals are thrown out the window for the sake of survival, so this is no surprise. however, this dual perspective, “no bad guy,” ideology simply doesn’t apply in the world today. you may compare ellie vs. abby, or joel vs. manny, or bring in more characters in the game, such as tommy, nora, etc, claiming that all parties are bad. that makes perfect sense. but think about it like this: if this is meant to represent the israeli-palestinian perspective, and i give you the scenario of a five-year-old child versus a full-grown IDF soldier, what would you say? isn’t there an obvious answer as to who is in the wrong and who’s not? maiberg is 100% right in claiming that the game marginalizes the real-life palestinian experience. abby, ellie, joel, manny, etc, are not real people. but the thousands of innocent children who have been killed for the ridiculousness and inhumane israeli regime are. you can’t say each side is equal in awfulness, not when one side is full of innocent men, women, and children, some of which could never make it into a year of their lives. not when if one side pauses their battle, there would be a ceasefire, but if the converse pauses their battle, they would all be dead.

“And then they cheered afterward,” Druckmann, who grew up in Israel, recalls. “It was the cheering that was really chilling to me. … In my mind, I thought, ‘Oh, man, if I could just push a button and kill all these people that committed this horrible act, I would make them feel the same pain that they inflicted on these people.’"

remember how i said discussing neil druckmann's background was crucial? it is. druckmann, who, again, was born in israel, told the Washington Post that the game's cynical themes of revenge and suffering is linked to the 2000 killing of two israeli soldiers (tw, lynching), who were killed by a mob (maiberg). allegedly, some of the incident was remembered in film, that druckmann watched, and in his interview, he explained his angry nature that came about in response to the video, and how he desired vengeance.

the last of us part 2 is mainly set in seattle, washington, where secondary main character, abby anderson, resides in with a militia group named the wlf (which we will also delve into later, alongside the seraphites). maiberg brings out how seattle, on a visual and mechanical level, is based around "a series of checkpoints, security walls, and barriers (Maiberg)." he notes: "[seattle] looks almost exactly like the tall, precast concrete barriers and watch towers Israel started building through the West Bank in 2000." here are side by side images for comparison:

now that we’ve discussed this, let us discuss one of most prevalent aspects of abby’s part of the story: the wlf, and the seraphites. the seraphites are a religious group, nicknamed “the scars” due to the scars the members of said group carve into their faces to display their membership, who the wlf, a makeshift militia group, runs into conflict with following the fall of FEDRA, the country’s former military. in a note in the game, a fedra commander explains that the city of seattle has been lost to the wolves (the wlf), who he names as terrorists. maiberg brings out the following: “Here, there are parallels to early Zionist organisations that fought British rule in the region. These organizations were also described as terrorists, and leaders of those organizations later became leaders in Israel, much like how Isaac, the leader of the Wolves, came to control Seattle. Other in-game notes, scenes of urban ambushes, and the bodies of executed FEDRA officers laboriously walk the player through the cliche "one man's terrorist is another man's freedom fighter (Maiberg).”

maiberg also discusses a series of manners in which the fictional seraphites resemble real-life palestinians. here are the three ways he specifically discusses in his original post, but there are much more:

“The same note from the Seattle FEDRA commander that bitterly says the Wolves are in charge explains that it's now their responsibility to not only feed and shelter the people of Seattle, but deal with the "religious fanatics," referring to the Scars.

Later in the game, Ellie finds a location called "Martyr Gate," where the Scars' spiritual leader apparently died, indicating a religious significance of a specific and disputed location, and emphasizing the notion of martyrdom as central to their culture.

The Scars are able to get around Wolf patrols and various barriers around the city via an elaborate, secret system of bridges between skyscrapers. These function as a kind of flipped version of the underground tunnels Palestinians use to bypass Israeli blockades and other means of limiting free movement in order to get supplies and carry out attacks on Israel.”

one more post i would like to link is this one, the very reason i decided to make this in the first place. it captures the zionism in the last of us 2, along with the wlf vs. seraphite conflict, perfectly. i very much recommend you read it, as it explains it much better than i can.

the general consensus is this: the idea that the seraphites are equally as bad as the wlf, which implies that palestinians are equally as bad as israelis, simply doesn’t apply in 2024. as i said before: what is so vile and cruel about a newborn baby? a pregnant woman? an innocent man? NOTHING. part of the reason the last of us captures this so poorly is due to the apocalyptic nature of the world the game is set in. obviously, people would go rogue if their lives were put in peril by not only animalistic infected beings, but also humans. however, we live in a real world where laws and morals do, in fact, apply. this isn’t a video game where those are simply discarded. what the wlf and the seraphites did to each other in the last of us 2 could be any other day for them: but what israel is doing to palestine right now is a war crime, a genocide, and plainly vile.

THE LAST OF US SHOW, and zionism in the show’s cast

i don’t think i need to spend a lot of time here, because if you have made it this far, you are well aware of the real nature of the last of us and the last of us 2 already, so you must understand that the show is HBO’s take on the game’s story (which, need i remind you show-wise and game-wise, neil druckmann played a huge part in). i simply bring it up so that people are aware of the fact that the 2022 show is ALSO linked to the ongoing genocide, and the cast is a major part of that (however, if anyone would like me to delve deeper into the show, let me know, and i 100% will).

for the following season which is a sequel to the last, theorized to center around the happenings of the last of us 2, members who are set to play a few crucial characters in the game have been announced. this includes isabela merced, who will play dina woodward, ellie’s romantic partner for most of the game, alongside kaitlyn dever, who will play abby anderson.

many people freaked out when they realized kaitlyn dever will be playing abby, but not for the reason they should have been. if you are a last of us fan, you are well aware that abby’s muscles are a central aspect of her persona. yet, kaitlyn dever is on the skinnier side, and according to some, does not resemble abby.

but this is not the issue that is most crucial to discuss.

kaitlyn dever is a zionist, and so is isabela merced (i am under the impression that both of these claims are true, but i had trouble finding a source i deemed reliable enough to link here. if i do, however, i will). now, while i’m not here to riddle you with conspiracy theories, people believe this (zionism) is the reason kaitlyn dever in specific got the role of abby anderson (there is a separate actress, shannon berry, who more closely resembles abby, but made a post in solidarity with palestine. this is theorized to be the reason why she didn’t get the part, and why kaitlyn dever was announced shortly after this particular actress made said post). let us not also forget that ellie’s actor, bella ramsey, is also in support of israel, which can be seen here.

(edit: i was informed since making this that bella has a story on one of their social medias, showing their alleged support of palestine and calling for a ceasefire. i’m going to link this post where i spoke on it, so you aware of what i think on that front).

all of the previously provided information brings me to my final part of this post: boycotting the games, and boycotting the show.

BOYCOTTING THE GAME AND SHOW

i could go on and on about why this is so crucial, but we would be here forever. however, i’m going to paste in what i wrote in this post surrounding the topic of boycotting, as i personally believe i got it down quite well in regards to the last of us (the show and game). it reads:

"DO NOT BUY TLOU, TLOU REMASTERED, TLOU2, TLOU2 REMASTERED, OR ANY GAME FROM ND! neil druckmann has donated money to the IDF in the past. & where do you think he’s getting his money from? yeah, you got that. watch gameplays, pirate these games, or buy them secondhand. several shops sell used games. & for those of you who went and purchased the game anyway, knowing about all of this? fuck you.

if you think your $10 doesn’t matter, then think about this: okay, one person spends $10 on the game. whatever. but when 100,000 people do it? that’s a million dollars, going into the hands of a zionist, who is using YOUR money to help kill innocent men, women, and children. put that in your pipe and smoke it.

it is not just the games you need to boycott. HBO’S show also needs to be. follow this link to learn of more movies and shows you need to boycott, & the reasons why, including the last of us. let’s also not forget that dina & abby’s actresses are in support of israel, and BELLA RAMSEY, ellie’s actress, has also shown support.

boycott. the fucking. show. there are a million websites where you can pirate it, so you are not giving any of your support to it. resist."

what it comes down to is this: purchasing the game or watching the show directly from nd or HBO is not a must. spreading awareness and speaking out about palestine is. you are more than capable of not purchasing the game, or watching playthroughs, or buying the game secondhand, etc. you are more than capable of pirating the hbo show so that money is not made off of your engagement. it's not that difficult. i have said it once, and i will say it again: boycotting is a form of resistance, and that is the least we can do for those suffering in gaza as you read this. resist. people openly admitting that they went and purchased the game anyway simply make me sick. i hope you know what an awful thing to brag about that is, and how despicable of a human it makes you.

CONCLUSION

there's so much to discuss when it comes down to this topic, and it's possible that in the future, i will make a second part to this. however, for now, i really hope this does suffice. i believe knowing of the game's israeli nature is a step. but knowing the specifics is a leap, one that i need everyone engaged in this fandom to take, hence why i wanted to make this post at all.

i'm not saying anyone needs to quit liking the games or the show or whatever. i'm not saying you need to delete or throw away a game you spent $60 on. i've seen so many people who are way too dense to understand that. what i'm saying is that it's crucial you are at least AWARE of the content you are consuming. aware of why it even came about at all.

in my opinion, you can't separate the game from the roots. but you can remain aware of the inner workings of this world you've grown to love. you can keep spreading awareness about it, and you can do right by the people in gaza by discussing the ongoing genocide, and using your voice as much as you can.

i'm so lucky to have been able to gain a following on here in such a short amount of time, even if that following has gone up and down because i've chosen to post more about palestine as opposed to my previous content (granted, that fact won't deter me at all). i will keep using said following to keep speaking out for the people in gaza, and i encourage you to do the same. keep reblogging. keep speaking up. keep using your voices. the people in gaza need us. be there for them.

how to make finals your bitch. ᥫ᭡

- be at your best to give it your best -

hello angels! so it’s been almost 2 months since i’ve been active on here & it’s simply just been due to me focusing a lot of my time and energy into my academics, career, & personal life! i’m nearing the end of my program with my externship just being one month away! as with a lot of us, the spring semester is slowly but surely coming to an end! and that means finals are just around the corner! i wanted my “comeback” to be some of my helpful tips, tricks, & tidbits of advice for getting through finals and making sure you pass with flying colors!

also, thank you so so much for 1.2k!! i didn’t expect to gain such an influx of followers while i was gone! it means so much to me that so many of you have supported my blog even during my inactivity/unexpected hiatus! i can’t promise i’ll be coming back completely as i have my externship coming up, so i’ll be very busy the next few months! but i hope to continue to post every now and again for you angels!

let’s begin …

୨ৎ — pre-finals prep

it’s important to start prepping for finals in advance! finals may be 4-5 weeks away, but it never hurts to get a head start in your preparations!

create a checklist! — you can always start by making yourself a list or two for everything you need to get yourself prepared for that intimidating finals week! these lists could be a list of different study materials you’ll need, a list in order of priority of the different classes you need to study for, a list of supplies you’ll need to get yourself through the week (& yes, this can include snacks or any self-care stuff!), or even a list of different topics from your classes that you feel need a bit more of your attention! checklists are an amazing tool to use to keep yourself organized and can help you visual what needs to get done or what needs to be obtained!

plan out the weeks! — designate a day in your week where you take some time to plan out your weeks prior to finals week and the week of! include time blocks where you set aside time to study and time to take breaks and rest your mind & body! add small, achievable to-do lists for each day or a bigger, more broad one for each week! weekly planning can give you a tangible idea of what your weeks leading up to finals and the week of will look like, so don’t hesitate to give it a try or incorporate that into your weekly routine!

tina’s tip: utilize your phone’s calendar app! i do almost everything digitally and i’ve been making great use of the Apple calendar to plan out my weeks! it’s a great way to color code different events, classes, appointments, assignments, etc. & if you’re also someone who wants to get into digital planning it’s a great first step into getting into it!

prioritize & maintain good health! — i’m saying this with love, but pulling all-nighter’s every single day leading up to finals is not going to guarantee the best scores for you. you need to make sure your health is where it needs to be! sleep is absolutely vital to making sure your mind and body is working at its very best. as someone who used to be an insomniac and who used to religiously pull all-nighter’s for school, i’m telling you it is not worth it. i didn’t see any improvement in my grades when i was doing that. if anything, my scores and my motivation for school got worse. you can’t just go all night racking your brain over your studies. prioritize your health! this also means making sure you fuel your brain and body with good nutrients! when i’m only running on caffeine, not only do i feel physically weak, but my mind is using so much more energy on becoming anxious than staying focused.

tina’s tip: make sure you set aside time at least once or twice a week to something that makes you happy, helps you relax, and is not related to your academics! i have a rule for myself that after 7:30pm-8pm every single night that i immediately stop working on anything related to my studies so that i can truly unwind for the night. i’ll use my time before bed to have a self-pamper night, play video games, watch a show/movie/youtube video, draw, read, or chat with a friend on facetime! it’s important to include things that bring you joy into your routine! don’t burn yourself out by only focusing on your studies!

୨ৎ — the study wave

try to give yourself at least two weeks in advance to study for finals. consider these two weeks as the study wave! this is the perfect time to really lock into those time-blocks you’ve set aside for your study sessions. each day should be filled with review & ensuring you fully understand the material! the time-blocks could be as long as 5 hours or as short as 30 minutes. i recommend the start of the study wave to include longer study time-blocks and as you get closer to the week of finals to shorten those time-blocks!

week 1 of study wave — reteaching yourself the material: rewatch lectures, review powerpoints/videos/notes/previous homework assignments, and incorporate study methods like the feynman technique, practice tests, & active recall! use this time to form study groups, don’t hesitate to have longer study sessions (remember to take breaks!), and refresh your mind of everything you need to know for upcoming exams! let week 1 help you decide what material/topics/chapters/classes need more of your time and attention and which ones don’t!

tina’s tip: dedicate certain days out of the week to 1-2 classes! this will help to prevent any overwhelming feelings of stress, anxiety, and/or burn-out as you prepare for finals! prioritize which class(es) need the most review, maybe a couple classes need more than one designated study/review day and maybe other classes just need one day throughout the week!

week 2 of study wave — refresh & review: utilize study methods like the blurting method, flashcards, practice tests, & other forms of active recall! this is prime time to focus on active recall methods. doing so will help make sure the information stays fresh in your mind and will help you refine that mental list of which classes/topics still need a little more attention! week 2 of the study wave should included shorter study sessions whether it’s 1 or 2 hours shorter than week 1 or even as short as setting aside 20 minutes every day reviewing material. take this time to try and focus more on those more challenging topics rather than reviewing every single bit of information!

tina’s tip: if you use the blurting method, i recommend using it towards the end of your study sessions! this allows you to recall information as well as put it into your own words that will show whether or not you comprehend the material. review what you’ve written down based off of memory and identify any missing points or errors in your work! this will also help you refine what bits of information still need more focus! repeat this method 3 times!

i highly encourage you guys to also use this time to meet with professors/instructors to ask any additional questions! you’d be surprised at how much of a difference it makes to ask those pressing questions on different parts of the material!

୨ৎ — finals week

it’s extremely important that you are getting enough rest the week of finals! it all sounds cliché, but making sure you’re well-rested and you’ve filled your body with the right nutrients can make such a crucial difference in your exam performance!

if you have time in-between different exams, use that time to do quick review sessions to prepare for your next exam!

avoid cramming! — these in-between study sessions should be used wisely and in an effective manner. take some time to focus on material that has been challenging for you and don’t worry too much about reviewing parts that you’re already confident with!

keep the review short! — if you have 30 minutes or even a couple hours before your next final, do not use the entire time of your “break” to study/review! give your mind a break to rest! listen to some music, play a cozy game, or even take a quick nap if you’re able to! a lot of your mental energy should be put into your time taking the exam, so don’t expend all that energy into studying/reviewing!

final notes —

finals can be exhausting, anxiety-inducing, and just an overall challenge. since it’s that time of the semester where, i’m sure, most of us are starting to experience a drop in the level of our academic motivation, it’s really important to maintain a good and reliable study/school routine to keep yourself on the track you ideally want to be on!

i stress this a lot in my other posts, but self-care is extremely important in being able to maintain good routines in your day to day life! so be sure you’re still incorporating time to focus on your self care to keep yourself afloat!

I'm rewatching Legally Blonde and I feel like you couldn't make this movie today only because modern writers would want to qualify Elle's intelligence.

Like. The first twenty minutes leading up to her acceptance to Harvard are packed with establishing character pieces highlighting her intelligence.

We open on her savagely tearing apart a sales worker that was trying to trick her into an upsell. And once they start talking about her academics?

I mean. Yeah.

She's been maintaining a 4.0 GPA and manages to study hard enough to get a 179 (out of 180) on her LSAT while also managing the responsibilities of being sorority president? Yeah. Yeah, that's really fucking impressive. Elle Woods is a goddamn mega-genius.

It's just that her mega-genius is presented comically because of how hyperfeminine and Rich White Girl she is. She's coded bimbo to disguise how mega-smart she actually is. Which is. Y'know.

Kind of.

What the entire movie is about. The preconceptions and harsh judgment of women who are considered too girly. Elle doesn't have to change herself and become smart in order to succeed. Elle's fine, actually; If you thought she wasn't, you're just wrong.

She's not a static character; She does have her own growing and developing to do. It just. Isn't related to her intelligence and capacity for understanding even the complex subject of case law. She was already brilliant from the word go.

When she gets into Harvard, despite her comically unconventional admissions essay, it's treated as a relatively ordinary admission. It's not like they're running some kind of special program or something for less qualified candidates that she only finds out about halfway through the film and then has to resolve to prove that she can do it anyway.

(In fact, that's how Warner got in. The big reveal is that he's an unqualified dipshit whose family bribed his way in.)

There's not, like... one guy who's willing to take a risky chance on her and everyone else is just like, "Okay, but she's worthless and when this blows up in your face, it'll be your career on the line." There's a little bit of discussion and then a rubber stamping.

Elle gets into Harvard because... the board looks over her credentials and goes, "Yeah. That is a Harvard-worthy admission. Stamp it." And that's it.

She gets in because she's smart and she puts in the work. That's it. That is all there is to the secret of Elle Woods's success. She's smart. She puts in the work. She succeeds.

I just. I really like that for her. And I'm not sure how many writers today would be willing to let her have that.

A Guide to My AU ("Evay AU")

Hello! I make art for anything and everything I love, but if you follow me you'll find that a large amount of my content is centered around my own Sonic AU. I thought I'd make a handy little guide for those of you who are new and just learning about my AU or for those of you who have been following me but might want a refresher.

★This guide is a living document that will be continuously amended as I make changes and additions to my stories. ★

OVERALL PREMISE

My AU centers around Sonic & Friends through adulthood as they navigate relationships, careers, marriage and family. The primary genres are "slice of life" and "romantic comedy" with some action/drama interspersed throughout. My AU mostly follows the video game canon and the IDW canon with some elements from Sonic Boom and Sonic X tossed in and then I created my own characters and stories to fill in the gaps. My AU DOES NOT include the Sonic Cinematic Universe, Archie comics/characters, Fleetway comics/characters, Sonic Prime, SatAM, the OVA, Sonic Underground, the 1992 Manga, etc.

SPECIAL NOTES

In my AU, I depict "Classic" versions of the Sonic cast as their younger selves with their "Modern/Boom" versions being older.

Although my canon does not include Archie/SatAM, I do refer to Sonic characters' classification as "Mobians" and the planet they are on is referred to as Earth/Mobius interchangeably. I credit this as simply "cultural variation" between humans and Sonic characters but they all originate from the same planet.

MOST IMPORTANTLY please remember this is a fanmade AU. Nothing I say, write or draw influences the Sonic franchise or canon in any way. I'm just here to have fun and I hope you enjoy the ride!

ABRIDGED TIMELINE

Project Shadow is created and suspended.

Domino and Phlox meet. Sonic is conceived.

Domino raises Sonic to approx. toddler age until she loses her life in a flash flood. Sonic is left alone to fend for himself and eventually represses his memories of Domino to cope with the trauma.

Clay Rose and Lulu Petula meet. Together, they have Amy and she lives with her parents until her fortune cards lead her to meeting Sonic.

Majority of the game/IDW canon takes place.

CC (originally labeled as "Code Compiler") is a spherical/ovoid robot created (August 26) by an independent inventor (no relation to the Robotniks) to assist with production. CC's intelligence rapidly evolves and she gains sentience much to her creator's dismay. After a struggle, the inventor powers her off and the workshop falls into disrepair. The building is marked condemned and CC's chassis remains hidden within the rubble.

Sonic and Phlox run into each other on several occasions. Neither realize they are related.

Amy begins her pursuit of archaeological studies.

A mystery woman going by the name "Light" (who is secretly Aurora from the future) appears and warns Sonic & Team of an oncoming threat that is hellbent on killing Shadow before wreaking havoc on the planet. Light claims she was sent here with the task of protecting Shadow but is not forthcoming with any other information about herself or her 'previous team'. Light & the Team work together to fight off 'the threat' and along the way Shadow develops a romantic interest in Light who also has strong feelings and an allegiance to him for reasons he does not know. Upon defeating the villain, Light must return to where she came from. Shadow tries to discourage her and even asks to accompany her, but she insists that if she stays any longer, she risks causing catastrophic damage. She departs and Shadow vows to find her again.

Rouge and Omega join Shadow in his search to find Light. After combing the globe with no luck, their quest takes them off-world and they go on an interplanetary journey. The three become mercenaries to fund their space expedition.

Knuckles bulks up! His goal of spending time away from Angel Island did him some good!

Sonic and Amy begin a romantic relationship.

Sonic moves in with Amy.

Tails establishes Yellow Sky Industries, a company where he can begin sharing his gadgetry with the world as well as partner up with other innovators to put their genius to good use.

Stone establishes The Mean Bean coffee shop. Much to his delight, Eggman frequents this cafe but is unaware of Stone's affection.

Sonic and Amy get engaged. Upon hearing the news and growing homesick, Rouge and Omega return home, leaving Shadow to continue his journey on his own. While attending the wedding festivities, Knuckles and Rouge rekindle their budding romance.

During one of Eggman's many failed attempts at world domination, he falls victim to a near-fatal accident of his own making. Sonic rescues him, but Eggman loses his right hand in the process. Eggman is forced to reconsider his health and kickstarts some moral dilemmas for him. His attempts at world domination begin to dwindle.

Cream departs home to pursue humanitarian/Mobianitarian(?) efforts

Rouge uses her mercenary wealth to develop her own mining and jewelry business (she does not give up thievery). Knuckles is initially hired on as head excavator, but this job is only temporary until he secures enough money to fund a dream project of his.

With his own money and with the support of Yellow Sky Industries and his friends' investments, Knuckles develops the Young Heroes Program - a nonprofit youth organization. He works full time as a trainer at the program to help empower kids and strengthen the community. Sonic assists YH as needed, but is not a full-time volunteer.

Sonic and Amy decide to start a family. Aurora is conceived.

Rouge and Knuckles get married.

In one last ditch effort to regain Sonic's attention and to encourage Sage to follow in her father's footsteps**(See note), Eggman kidnaps Amy. This triggers her to go into labor early and Aurora is born (March 13). This is the nail in the coffin as far as Eggman's villainous efforts go and he makes an unspoken agreement with Sonic to 'retire' from villainy. He still plans to regularly annoy them by inserting himself into their lives. (**Note: This comic was made before Sage was introduced to the game canon. In retrospect, Sage would have been a part of this story and part of the reason Eggman decided to kidnap Amy, no matter how much Sage discouraged him. Sage instantly bonds with Aurora and vows to be her lifelong friend.)

Amy takes on a second job as an interior designer to support her family while Sonic becomes a stay-at-home dad and focuses most of his time and attention on raising Aurora.

Once Aurora is old enough, she begins attending the YH program. This is the closest Sonic will allow her to participating in any adventures.

Ruff Hyena is born (January 29).

As a defense mechanism against constant bullying from her peers, Aurora’s light powers begin to manifest.

In addition to attending the Young Heroes Program, Aurora begins a mentorship with her Uncle Tails for optics/physics lessons in order to better understand her powers.

Eggman and Stone begin dating.

Aurora begins to experience premonitions in the form of dreams. Amy does her best to help Aurora hone this skill, but without much success.

Tumble Hyena is born (January 30). Ruff and Tumble are abandoned and left to fend on their own before ending up in the foster care system. They remain there for many years.

Aurora develops a crush on a boy named Kyle and they go on a few “playdates”. Aurora invites Kyle over to the house to meet her parents and Sonic does not handle it well. After an argument, Aurora and Kyle agree to not hang out together anymore.

Knuckles and Rouge adopt Ruff and Tumble.

Aurora ages out of the Young Heroes Program. Sonic discourages her from venturing out on her own and convinces her to work for YH instead.

After receiving a heartfelt message from Rouge, Shadow resigns from his quest and returns to Earth. He decides his new mission will be to get to better know the world Maria had always spoken so highly about.

Feeling “stuck” in her life, Aurora broaches the topic of moving out to be on her own. Sonic talks her out of it.

While reconnecting with The Team, Shadow is introduced to Aurora. He instantly recognizes her as the woman he’s spent the last several decades looking for, but doesn’t understand how that’s possible and she is adamant they have never met before. While telling Sonic and Amy of his world travel plans, Aurora offers to be his guide around town as she knows every inch of it. Shadow takes her up on her offer and the two quickly develop a friendship.

Shadow decides it doesn’t matter if Aurora is the Light he formerly met or not. He asks her on a date. Remembering how badly things went the last time one of Aurora’s “boyfriends” and Sonic interacted, she accepts Shadow’s courtship but only if they can keep it a secret for now. Shadow is wary of this, but agrees to her terms.

Keeping secrets from her parents begins to take a toll on Aurora, to the point she is getting sick. She tells Shadow she can’t keep lying to her family, so she tells him they shouldn’t see each other anymore. In hopes to “fix” the situation, Shadow meets with Sonic and Amy to ask their permission to date Aurora. This immediately escalates into a battle between Sonic and Shadow. Aurora intercepts the fight and, heartbroken, she tells Sonic that as much as she wants his blessing, she doesn’t need it, and is going to continue to date Shadow. Sonic, Amy and Aurora have a heart-to-heart to try and reconcile things, but Sonic makes it clear that though Aurora is a grown up and can technically date whoever she wants, she has to follow certain rules while she’s still living in their house.

Tails purchases an abandoned factory to expand Yellow Sky Industries. There, he finds the deactivated CC. He powers her on but she is severely traumatized and significantly damaged. He repairs her and after understanding how advanced her intelligence is, he offers her a job as his lab assistant.

CC quickly develops romantic feelings for Tails.

Knuckles, Rouge, Ruff and Tumble legally change their last names to “Motley”

In her pursuit to become “Mobian,” CC fabricates herself a Mobian-like body.

As Shadow and Aurora’s relationship progresses, they begin to explore more of the world together.

Tails and CC host a charity banquet. Things go awry.

Aurora gets her first apartment. She also begins a singing career.

Tails and CC officially begin a romantic relationship.

Aurora begins to have recurring premonitions about Shadow being in danger. She puts her musical tour on pause to stay vigilant.

A dangerous, mysterious entity appears and attacks The Team, severely wounding several members and nearly killing Shadow. Before the threat can be defeated, it retreats by escaping via time travel where it plans to successfully kill Shadow. With most of The Team out of commission or fearful of altering the timeline, Aurora travels back in time to save Past Shadow and the rest of her family. To protect her identity, she goes by the name “Light.”

Sonic and Shadow reconcile their differences. Sonic becomes noticeably more accepting of Shadow and Aurora’s relationship.

Shadow and Aurora get engaged and move in together.

Aurora continues her musical career.

Shadow and Aurora get married.

Ruff ages out of the Young Heroes Program and in the hopes to follow in Knuckles’ footsteps, he becomes a crime fighter. When Tumble isn’t helping his brother fight crime, he’s working on his own mechs.

Eggman and Stone digitally uploadt heir consciousness to Cyberspace so they can live indefinitely.

Shadow and Aurora decide to start a family. They have their first litter of triplets: Piper, Zane and Nova (November 12).

Shadow and Aurora have a second litter of twins: Aster and Blitz (April 8). At this time, Shadow uses the wealth he’s amassed to construct a large house that can accommodate their growing family.

Shadow and Aurora have a third litter of triplets: Cinder, Diamond and Boon (February 18).

Sonic and Amy return to a life of world traveling.

In addition to attending the Young Heroes Program, Shadow trains all of his children in how to best use their powers for the greater good of the planet.

During a fight, Cinder critically wounds Diamond with his “Stellar Tantrum” power. Boon uses his powers of healing to restore Diamond to full health without any scarring, but Cinder never forgives himself. He becomes withdrawn and distances himself from his family members from this point on.

punarvasu spans 20°00 gemini - 03°20 cancer. its vimshottari ruler is jupiter.

punarvasu's deity is aditi - mother of the adityas, goddess of earth, harvest and fertility. her name means 'boundless' or 'limitless' and she is the embodiment of the infinite and vast cosmos.

punarvasu nakshatra is the 'star of renewal' and has several meanings, some being "good again", "prosperous again", "light again" and "the return of the light".

its symbols are the bow and quiver of arrows and a house.

punarvasu's shakti is vasutva prapana shakti meaning the power to 'gain wealth and substance'.

punarvasu's basis above is air or wind and its basis below is moisture or rain. its desire is 'to produce herbs and trees'.

🌈 PUNARVASU THROUGH MYTH .

mrigashira is the birth of mars and where polarisation, competition and temptation are born. in the bible, we see this with eve biting the apple and adam and eve realising they were naked.

god feels like there is too much evil in the world and so he decides to renew the earth and then the earth is just vast seas due to the copious amount of rain and flooding. punarvasu is the star of renewal and aditi is the goddess of primordial vastness. noah and his family were deemed worthy enough to be saved and noah was tasked with building an ark big enough to house one pair of each animal on the earth. another one of punarvasu's symbols is a house.

punarvasu's symbol is the bow and quiver of arrows archers had to release the arrow and go and get it back. noah sent out a dove to see whether the flooding had reduced and it kept coming back until one day, when it returned with an olive branch, signifying new life. punarvasu's basis above is air or wind, which relates to the dove flying to see whether the floods had reduced enough and its basis below is moisture or rain, which relates to the vast floods used to cleanse the world of evil. punarvasu's desire is to produce herbs and trees, which is symbolised by the dove bringing back an olive branch to show the floods were over - later becoming a symbol of peace.

after the whole ordeal, god placed a rainbow in the sky to symbolise peace and as a promise that a flood like that would never happen again.

punarvasu themes are all over mariah's career. @vindelllas noticed that butterflies are linked to punarvasu natives, relating to their transformative nature, and mariah carey's first album that she had creative control over was called "butterfly". this album is also deemed her magnum opus. her album after butterfly is called "rainbow" and mariah also has a song called "through the rain". the theme of renewal and "prosperous again" arises with her 2005 album "the emancipation of mimi", which invited immense success and earned her the moniker "the queen of the comeback".

"What are you thinking about?" Hongjoong's voice breaks your trance of staring at a wall while the crew moves around some cameras.

You had all taken your first photos together as a group, and were now anxiously and excitedly awaiting to film your first video. The set was blank save for a black backdrop, Jisu wanted your dancing to speak for itself.

You had started off the day strong, eager. But things were staring to feel real, and real was making you scared. You weren't used to others touching you, and you had spent forty minutes being dolled up by your stylist and makeup artist. You were barely used to the one or two camera that have been around to film the documentary, and there was at least five on set. You were starting to deeply doubt that you could pull this career off.

"Uh?" You blink, as if you were coming back to yourself, "oh, Hongjoong-sunbae!" You bow with a small smile, going to stand up when he waves his hand; sitting down on the floor beside you. "I was just... thinking should I use a stage name?" Maybe it would help you put on a brave face, like your stage name and you were two different people.

"Hmm, what did you have in mind?" He hums as he takes in your appearance. He thinks it might be the first time he's ever seen you in makeup, or in anything other than dance clothes.

Your outfit is cute, to match your groups concept. Each of you is in a different color, and you landed in purple. You look good in purple, he thinks.

"Uhm," you fiddle with one of the little braids throughout your hair, "I'm drawing blanks, actually."

He gives a soft laugh, and you return it with a smile. You can see why he's the leader of his group, he has a reliable aura about him. Warm and compassionate, but you once saw him gathering his members and he demanded respect. You don't know if you have that switch. Everyone around seems to already recognize you as crUSh's leader, but you think it should be anyone else.

"Hey, can I ask you something?" You ask as you stretch out your legs, careful not to scratch the shoes your stylist had you put on.

" 'Course," he nods, mirroring you.

"How did you know you would be a good leader? Everyone seems to think I'd be perfect, but I think one of my Unnies is a much better choice."

He breathes a laugh, shaking his head, "woah, you really are like a mini-Captain." You tilt your head, and he continues, "I didn't know I'd be a good leader, either. I thought it was a terrible idea! Any group leader you ask will probably say something similar — we didn't know we'd be the leader, it just happens that way. A groups dynamics just click the way they do. And you click perfectly as crUSh's leader! I've seen the way you take charge, you do it without even thinking. You're brave like that. Busting into your seniors room to take care of a member, that's a leader move if I've ever seen one!"

You suddenly feel very shy, looking down at your feet. "Thanks, Sunabe... Hopefully you're right!"

"Eh, I'm always right," he jokes, making you tilt your head back laughing while he watches with a grin. He takes out his phone from his pocket, opening up a file while you look on curiously, still smiling. "I have something to show you. Mingi sent me a clip of you singing the other day, and it inspired me."

"Really?" Your eyes widen a bit, leaning forward to hear better as an upbeat instrumental begins playing from the speaker.

He has it pretty quiet so he doesn't disturb the others on the set, so he holds the speaker towards your ear, watching as you listen with that glint in your eyes — the one he envisioned while creating the music.

When your voice from the other day joins the background, you jump a little bit; before the biggest smile ever finds its way to your lips. It's only a short clip from the video he'd received from Mingi, but since it's the chorus, it reappears a few times.

"What do you think?" He asks when it ends, and you shake your head.

"I don't know whether to kiss Mingi or slap him," you giggle, covering your face briefly, "you made that in only a few days?"

"Yeah! Usually it takes wayyyy longer, but like I said," he shrugs, "you inspired me. Your song writing is brilliant, I can't wait to see more! You'll bring some to the recording booth tomorrow, right?"

"Of course, I have some p-"

"Mèimei!" Bongcha calls for you from across the set, making you look up. She'd taken up to calling you that when she learned you know a good bit of Chinese, and you were immediately bonding like crazy because you could keep up with her ranting. "We're about to film our intro! Come lead us!"

"Oh, sorry, Sunbae," you bow to him as you both stand, "I'll see you tomorrow!"

He grabs your hand when you turn to leave, "I have an idea for your stage name."

"Huh?" You pause, looking down at your hands, which he quickly drops as he feels a blush creeping onto his cheeks. "Ah, what is it?"

"Myeongi."

"Myeongi? What does that mean?"

"Uhm, well; Myeong means brilliant, and Gi means brave, or rely on. It fits... don't you think?"

You feel heat bubbling up in your own face, "I like it."

"Okay!" Jisu claps from behind the camera, making you all come up from your deep bows.

From the center, you had bowed to the crew a few moments after you finished your performance; and your members had followed.

"You guys nailed it!" A round of applause comes from around you, and you can't stop the large smile on your face as you look around your members.

You're all breathing heavily after what had been the fourth take in a row, the director wanting to get different angles. Bongcha slumps to lay on the floor, groaning loudly and throwing up a thumbs up, "thank you!"

You kick her foot with a little laugh, crouching down before falling onto your behind. The rest of the members are quickly following suit, thankful for a moment to breathe. "Thank you, ladies! That will be all the takes we need!" The director calls out, making you all cheer.

When you see the makeup artist approaching, you barely have time to be confused before Jisu explains. "We have a little bit of a challenge for you all."

We haven't even debuted yet and they're giving us variety show type challenges?

"Challenge?" Eunhwa asks as she tilts her head up for her makeup artist. You can tell the introverted member wants to be done for the day.

"Yes, more of just a little task," your manager goes on to explain as you all get touch ups done, "so your video will be going up the day after tomorrow, and that's when we will announce you as 'KQ Ladiez'. Along with your video and the introduction we filmed earlier, we'd like to post a video of each of you with your sunbaenims to get some more engagement. It's a challenge because we won't pair you off, you'll have to find a sunbaenim and ask them yourself, and decide what kind of short video you'll do together. Done by today!"

You feel Eunhwa's pain, your jaw progressively dropping more and more until your makeup artist closes it while holding back her laughs.

"Done by... today? Like this today?" Aeyoung clears her throat, clearly nervous. She, of everyone, is the biggest admirer of your senior group. She says she wants to be 'a dance machine like Yunho-sunbaenim'.

"Yup," Jisu has a grin like an evil mastermind, she wants you all to break out of your shells now that you're set in stone to debut. "Since theres a one member difference, one of you will have to do a video with two of them. Good luck!"

She's out the door before Bongcha's glare can kill her.

"Seriously...?" Yoomi sighs, "I'm nervous around our sunbaes, they're so intimidating!"

"You're nervous? Look at poor Eunhwa-Unnie!" Sunji points to her, "she's about to combust!"

"Hey, come with me," you hold her hand gently and help her up, bowing to your makeup artist before pulling your member out of the set room quickly. "While the others are trying to figure out who to ask, we can ask Yeosang-sunbae to do a video with you. He's introverted too, that'll make you more comfortable, right?"

She holds your hand tightly, nodding along with your words, "yes, thank you, Unnie..." You smile over your shoulder at her, letting her collect her thoughts as you enter the elevator, as you leave it, and as you approach their open practice room.

"Don't be nervous, Eunhwa, he's nice," you give her hand one last comforting squeeze before you knock on the open door. "Ya-hoooo~"

"Ye-ssi!" Mingi beams your way, looking up from the practice video he's monitoring with Seonghwa. "Hey, how did your first recording go?"

You gesture her into the room with you as she stalls in the doorway, "it went well! I think we really nailed it."

"That's good! What do you think, Eunhwa-ssi?"

She looks up quickly and forces a small smile through her nerves, "yeah, I think so too." You nudge her hip with yours, nodding to Yeosang; who's back to talking with San after giving you both a nod. "Ah, Unnie, he's busy, maybe I could just-"

"Yeosang-sunbae!" You call as you yank her forward, carefully smoothing your skirt before you sit. You have safety shorts on, but you still don't want to seem risqué. "Hello, San-ssi," you greet him more politely, only having spoke to him briefly.

"Hey, Huebae," Yeosang smiles, as does San, pausing their conversation, "you need something?"

"Yes, actually! Our manager sent us each on a mission to record a video with one of you guys, and Eunhwa was a little nervous, so I thought you two could do it together? You're both introverts, so I thought you'd get along!"

"I call you, Ye-ssi!" Mingi shouts as he keeps his eyes on the computer screen, making you giggle before looking between Eunhwa and Yeosang.

"Would you do that, Sunbaenim?"

"Yeah, of course." He stands up with a small grunt, nodding for her to follow him, "so, did you have any ideas, huebaenim?"

"Who do you think I should do a video with?" San asks, making you look away from the duo as they wander into the hall.

"Hm? Oh," you tap your chin as you think through your members, "maybe Bongcha! She has a lot of energy, you two can probably match well. Plus, she was you in our Guerrilla cover. Do you know any Chinese?"

"Uh, little bit," he says in the language, pinching his fingers together.

"She's pretty fluent in Korean but if there's any confusion or anything, I can translate for you guys! I speak Chinese pretty well." San blinks as you speak quickly, his mouth agape as he translates in his head.

"Woah," Mingi laughs softly as he sits on the bench next to you, "is there anything you can't do, Ye-ssi?"

"I can't wink," you offer with a shrug.

"Ah! Me neither!" He chuckles, tilting his head, "who were you going to ask?"

"Oh, I hadn't thought of it... well, you called dibs anyway!"

Bongcha slides into the room, rambling in Chinese, "mèimei! What if I filmed with San? That's a good idea, right? We match each other's vibes. We can do Guerrilla!"

You laugh before taking a long breath in, "aaaah, I know you guys too well already. Jiějie, I already asked San-ssi if he'd film with you," you nod, smiling as she fist pumps the air.

San smiles as he stands, giving you a little bow before joining her.

"What do you want to do, Ye-ssi?" Mingi knocks his foot against your leg lightly, looking down at you. Hongjoong had told him that you looked pretty, but to be truthful; he always thought that. Also to be truthful; you took his breath away when he turned around and saw you.

"Hey, there's seven of you, eight of us. Is one of us going to be left out?" Seonghwa hums as he rolls over in the chair. He'd have to face his embarrassment of calling you cute the first day you met sooner or later.

"Manager-nim said one of us should do a video with two of you," you explain politely. It's almost giving you whiplash — you're arguable closest and most informal with Mingi, and you've only briefly spoken to Seonghwa so you're trying to be extra formal, especially because he's the oldest idol at the company.

"We three could do something together! What do you think about that, huebae?"

"Oh, that sounds good, Park-nim!"

With everyone having paired off with a member of the other group, all of you were spread out around the building.

You, Mingi, and Seonghwa hadn't left their practice room. Others came and went, watching with amusement as you tried to decide what to do.

What you landed on made everyone who passed laugh, even some of your members whipping out their phones to capture the moment as Seonghwa yells at Mingi to 'be cuter!'

It was his idea to begin with. Catallena by Orange Caramel. 'It's cute, easy, and everyone knows it!' Everyone does know it, which is why you're even singing it as you practice the dance a few times.

You keep in the middle for the most part, because they're taller. But when they were singing, they were in the middle; so you made your moves more excited so you weren't dwarfed by them.

You had decided to do the whole song, and just choose the best clip to post.

When you finally had it down and in sync with each other, you grabbed the closest person to record it for you; who happened to be Yunho.

He could clearly be heard laughing over the music and your voices, but that made the video even better.

Even though it was meant to be a short clip that would be posted on social media, it was too good not to post the whole thing. You all were clearly having fun, and you were good at the song despite doing it live and only practicing it together for about forty five minutes.

Especially the ending, which would end up going viral after it was posted.

Everyone else had finished their duo videos, and a good mix of your members had gathered in the practice room because they could hear you all still singing. They could be heard along with Yunho, giggling and cheering from their places on the wall.

When it ends, you pose for a moment before simultaneously busting out into laughter. You lean your forehead on Seonghwa's arm, and you don't see the way he looks down at you with stars in his eyes.

"Hey, Huebae," Hongjoong peeks his head into the booth the next day, pointing to the papers on the stand that are different from your lyric sheet, "is that your song?"

You were the last of your members to record through the song, and after you had, the producer left you in the room with only the two producing idols.

"Oh, yeah," you pick it up, suddenly embarrassed by your strawberry stationary, "I wasn't sure if you were serious so I brought just the one incase."

"Of course we were! We love encouraging our juniors," he steps back into the room, taking Mingi with him after he had come to help you readjust the microphone, "after hearing that, we definitely want to hear another original!" The door to the booth closes behind them.

He closes out the debut song on the computer, opening up a blank track as you protest, "I don't want to take any more of your time."

"Ah, nonsense. All of your members are done, and we'd be fiddling our thumbs otherwise. Hit us with it!" He says while holding the button for you to hear him.

"Uhhh," you hide your face in your sleeves, "it's a lot different from the song you made, I might not be good. Plus it was a headache to write, so I'm not sure if-"

"You know what Hongjoong says?" Mingi interrupts you as he sits. "The bigger the headache, the better the song," they say together, making you chuckle.

"Okay," you finally fold, explaining a bit, "it's a bit of a rough concept like, uhmm, like bad girl independence."

"Ah, really? We get to see so many sides of you," Mingi's little laugh makes you smile down at your paper as you make a few last second notes.

"Don't judge me too badly, Sunbaenims," you bite your pen, "I've only been doing this a couple months. I've never- well, I've never actually shared any of my songs with anyone until the other day. Hongjoong-sunbae really nailed the instrumental, have you heard it?"

Hongjoong pouts with a coo of 'aww', thankful that the button isn't pressed as he realizes what he did, happy you couldn't hear him. Mingi did though, smirking over at him after he nods to you.

"Don't worry, everyone starts somewhere. And you already act like a professional in the booth."

"I do?" You blink confusedly.

"Totally! You get into a zone like we do, move your body for more flow," Hongjoong moves his arms as you did while you were recording, "ah! You went 'seonmyeonghi pop pop'," he giggles as he pops imaginary bubbles like you did.

"I did? Sheesh, that's embarrassing..."

"No, not at all! It means you have a natural passion for singing!" Mingi argues, watching you make another note on your song as if to prove his point.

"Hyung!" Another tall figure crashes into the room, making your eyes widen. "I heard one of the girls is an ace, is that true? Is it Ye-ssi? I bet-"

Hongjoong slowly turns to face you, making Yunho freeze and deadpan when he realizes you can hear everything with the button clicked down. "Uh... Hello!" He bows suddenly, making the men shake with silent laughter, "Sorry for barging in, I didn't know you were still recording, I ran into PD-nim so I figured you were done... I'm sorry."

"It's okay, hello," you bow back, almost hitting the window.

"Careful!" Mingi yells, thankful when you come back up unscathed, "we'll have to (Y/n) proof the recording booth, she's determined to bang her head." You had done the same thing while thanking the producer.

You laugh at his joke and give a small apology, backing a few steps away from the window before carefully dragging the microphone closer.

"We were just about to listen to our huebaenim do an original song."

Yunho's eyes light up at Hongjoongs words, and he looks to you, "for real? Can I listen?"

"Uh," you hesitate for a second, before nodding, "yeah, of course." He takes a seat on the couch behind the two others in their chairs, leaned forward excitedly.

"Do you want a metronome?" Hongjoong hums, ready to pull one up.

"No, that's okay," you lift the paper and Yunho smiles at the cute strawberry print on its edges.

"Hwaiti-" Mingis voice is cut off from your headphones as Hongjoong unclicks the button, leaving you in total silence.

No backtrack, no metronome, nothing but your voice as it echoes quietly and the feeling of awaiting eyes on you.

They wait for a few long moments as you read over your various notes you've taken while monitoring the few videos you've taken of yourself. It was purely self indulgent, but now it was coming in handy.

When Hongjoong reaches to press the button, you stop him by waving your hands, "I'm okay, just stage fright! You know what, I'll-" you grab the microphone and set it infront of you while you face away from the window, "sorry, I'll just face this way."

Yunho claps in amusement as you boldly turn away, Mingi laughing with him.

"Okay, this is better, sorry sunbaenims!" You throw a thumbs up above your head before you begin bouncing to hype yourself up. Feeling much better without seeing the eyes on you, you begin to loosen up.

"Breathe in, breathe out, ayeee," you shake your head before restarting with a sudden boldness and confidence that makes Hongjoong scramble to begin recording on the computer as his gut tells him that this will be golden.

The flip you made from cute and bubbly to confident and rough in just a few minutes is enough to give the duo of producers whiplash.

"Breathe in, breathe out," you loosen up even more as you begin, "ya-hooo, you don't wanna do this, sigan ppaetji ma!" The tone of your voice makes Mingi begin bouncing in his seat with uncontainable energy. It almost reminds him of himself, the way you move to your own beat as you rap.

"Ne meoritsogeun ontong hayae hayae hayae~ Boran deusi urineun flying high, high~," it's Hongjoongs turn to start freaking out, cursing himself for not thinking of the rhyme you used.

"I pull up with the girls, so let's go! Zoom gotta zooooom~" You're completely in your zone as you finish the part of the song that you'd picked to show them, which happened to be the ending. "Bulleodeullyeo hondon let's go, zoom!"

You peek over your shoulder to see all three of them staring at you with various amounts of wonder. "Oh, did the microphone turn off? I should have kept facing you." You look over the standing mic as you mistake their open jaws and big eyes for something else.

That is, until you hear the buzz in your headphones that means they pressed the button — immediately followed by their cheers and claps. You jump at the sudden noise, grabbing your chest before you laugh a bit, "you scared me."

"Waaah! You're so good!" Mingi almost squeals, "you nailed it! Yah, how did you do that?!" Hongjoong nudges his shoulder as he speaks so plainly to you, but you don't seem to mind, too shy to even register his informal way of speaking.

"Ah, I did it how I ima- aaye!" You yell as the door is swung open and you're suddenly picked up by the tall man, laughing loudly as he bounces with you in his arms, your feet swinging above the floor as he chants.

"We have an ace! We have an ace!"

"Mingi-ya! You're going to rattle her brains!"

Hongjoong giggles as he watches the sentimental moment of Mingi setting you down carefully and fixing the crooked headphones with a soft, "sorry."

"Ah," you take the headphones off and carefully set them down, gathering your papers and following him out of the booth with a small question of, "was it that good?"

"Was it-" Hongjoong stutters flabbergasted, "was it good?! Woah, you aren't a rookie, no way you're a rookie!" He jokes, Yunho joining in.

"Are you sure you're not our senior? You rap like you've been in the industry for years! That was awesome!"

"Oh, you guys are just hyping me up," you roll up your papers carefully and place them in your hoodie pocket, "thank-"

"Hey, tomorrow, you should show us more," Hongjoong speaks from the computer where he's looking at the shared schedule, "we'll all be free. Do you have plans?"

"Uhm... no, I could show you guys what else I have!"

"No," you shake your head, "something is wrong but I can't tell what." You pout as you watch the youngest three do their dance break later in the day.

The metronome set to the songs beat has become dull background noise that you're starting to think you'll hear when you try to sleep.

The door is open to get some air flow as your breaths have long made the room steamy, and people often pass and take a peek inside. It's beginning not to bother you, having eyes on you. Sometimes you don't even notice them at all.

"Try it like this," you rearrange the girls by their shoulders, dragging them into place and putting Namseon in the middle, "your leg movements are the strongest, and you two are better with your arms, this might balance it out right."

"Ah, that's smart," Yoomi nods, swiping away her sweat soaked bangs, "count us down, Unnie?"

"Okay, three, two, one," you hum the song as you watch them closely, eyes flicking when you see Sunji's feet stumble. She seems to be the least coordinated with her feet, but otherwise she keeps up perfectly.

They look to you expectantly as they finish the short dance break, and you nod quickly, "yeah! That's more like it! You guys will be all anyone can talk about."

The three young girls beam, high fiving one another as you stand from your crouched observing position. You stumble a bit, catching yourself before the girls can notice.

"You guys take a few minutes, I'm going to get some fresh air."

"Are you okay, Unnie?" Yoomi asks quickly as she sees stumble again, going to catch you.

The others turn to you as well, even the older group on the other side of the room. You shake off her worried hand from your shoulder and smile, "I'm okay, it's just stuffy in here. I think I'll head down to the connivence store and get us some food, yeah? We could all use a pick me up, we've been working hard."

"Do you want me to go with you," Bongcha asks through her panting breathes. Of everyone, she has least stamina. But she doesn't let that stop her.

"That's okay, Jiějie," you laugh a bit as you grab your small back pack, "get yourself some water, you look like a lobster." You smirk as her face hardens, running out of the room while she yells.

"What?! I'm the sexiest lobster in the sea, then!" She shouts as she pokes her head out of the door, being drug back inside by the others.

You cackle as you race down the hall to avoid her wrath, passing ATEEZ's practice room and barely noting that their door was open as well, only noticing at all because you hear Yeosang, one of them that knows more Chinese. "What the hell?"

"You better come back with some kimbap or this lobster will pinch you in the ass, Ye (Y/n)!!"

"What the hell?!" You hear him repeat louder as you choose not to wait for the elevator, instead skipping down the steps with a newfound pep in your step from the banter.

You shake your head as you come out into the lobby on the first floor, beaming even brighter as you spot Yunho coming from the elevator.

"Hey, where you headed?" You ask as you put on a face mask, not wanting to risk any sicknesses with such important things going on.

"Hey," he smiles just as bright as you, holding the door open for you as you both exit, "just to the convenience store. We decided to have a longer break than usual."

"Ah, really? Us too! I'm going to get some kimbap or Bongcha is going to pinch me in the butt," you say nonchalantly, making the man nearly spit out his water.

"What?!"

Yunho holds the door for you again as you enter the store, ever the gentleman. "Wha-aaaaah, that's nice." He goes to ask you why you've stopped when that question answers itself; freezing cold air blasting you both.

"Sweet, sweet, relief," your dramatic pose with your arms out makes him laugh, pushing your arm away from his chest playfully.

"Come on, let's get that kimbap so you don't get pinched," he quips, making you bee-line for it. He shakes his head with amusement, fixing his cap before beginning to collect things that he knows his members like.

It's still mid-day, most people at work and school. Only you two and the worker, so he isn't worried about disturbing anyone as he calls out, "hey, huebae!"

"Yes?" You call back, reveling in air from the fridge as you curse the KQ building for not having open-able windows or a better air system.

"Why don't we all eat together? I think I've only met two or three of you guys officially. "

"That sounds like fun," you chirp from beside him, making him jump. You chuckle as you hold out the basket to him. He sets the food accumulating in his hands into it with a thanks, taking it so you can get things for your members. "You should text Hongjoong," you hum as you thoughtfully pick out things for the girls, "see what he thinks."

"Why Hongjoong?"

"He's the Captain, right?"

He grins as he takes his phone from his pocket and begins texting, letting you lead him through the small store.

"What kind of chips?"

"One regular spicy, one not spicy at all," he replies without hesitation, slipping his phone back in his pocket as you grab two of each; not knowing what your members will prefer. "Hongjoong said good idea, we'll all eat in your practice room."

"Yay, family bonding! Too bad the Xikers boys are in America," you pout under your mask as you hold the basket while he gets drinks for all of his members, "we barely said hello to two of the members and they were up and at'em!"

"Maybe we can do this again when they come back," he suggests as he grabs something you have a hard time reaching, "Hunter did say he thought we should do more company activities."

"Hunter is smart, then," you say as you finally grab a bunch of kimbap, saving your ass (literally). "Co-worker bonding is important in any job. Especially one so demanding. What kind of ramen?"

"Hmm," he mimics your stance, looking at the wall of what seems like dozens of options with a hand on your hip.

"Should we just get random ones and let them fight over it?"

He looks down at you for a second before randomly grabbing a bowl, "I like the way you think."

By the time you're done ransacking the store, the basket is overflowing as you set it on the register and Yunho has a few things in his hands that just wouldn't fit. "Sorry, big gathering last minute," he bows to the cashier, who looks like they're just about ready to quit.

You go to get your wallet from your bag when he stops you with a hand on yours, "I'll pay."

"It's for my members too," you argue, giving him your best puppy dog eyes. "New comers treat for you guys."

He's immune to begging eyes, having spent entirely too much time with Seonghwa; king of boba eyes, and his best friend, Mingi; king of puppy dog eyes. "Nope," he shakes his head, already having his card out when the cashier is done ringing up the small feast.

In retaliation, you grab all of the bags you can as he pays, leaving only a two bags of drinks. "Let me help-"

"Nope," you repeat him in his exact tone, headed towards the door with a bow to the cashier, "have a nice day!"

He holds the door with his free hand, chuckling at the sight of the cloud of bags on each side of you, "hey, seriously, let me help."

"You paid! So I shall carry," you declare theatrically, finding yourself more comfortable with the man by the minute. "C'mon, we got some hungry members to feed!"

He lets you win, this time.

"Ya-hoooo~" You sing-song as you enter the practice room, finding all of the members already gathered and talking among themselves, "Santa and her elf came early!"

Everyone perks up with the promise of food, gathering around the bags that you set on the floor and start unpacking.

"Yunho, did you make her carry all this?" Hongjoong looks towards his member, ready to scold him.

"She insisted!"

"I diiiid," you smile up at the leader from your kneeling place on the floor, "but you can still beat him up if it will make you feel better."

"Yah, I'm the elf and I'm about to get beat up? What kind of friendship is this?"

A couple of laughs come from the others at your back and forth, "the kind where you should have let me pay, and this would have all been avoided and I might let you be Santa!" You stick your tongue out playfully as you lower your mask. "Bleh~"

"Bleh~" Yunho copies you, making them all laugh louder.

"Okay, okay, that's enough kids," Hongjoong slaps the front of Yunho's cap down, breaking the staring contest between the two of you.

The whole 15 of you gather around the laid out food in a circle, you and Yunho quickly grabbing the ramen you'd picked out for yourselves before chaos would inevitably ensue.

After the KQ ramen wars, as it would come to be known, everyone settles down and eats in peace, small conversation made here and there.

As you pour some of your soda into Sunji's eagerly awaiting cup, you peek towards Hongjoong with a question thats been bugging you for a few days. "Hey, Hongjoong-sunbae?" You call softly as you wait for the bubbles to die down before pouring her a bit more.

He nods towards you, answering wordlessly because his mouth is full.

"I was wondering, you guys are allowed to hang stuff up in your practice room, right? I thought I saw some pictures tacked to the wall the other day."

"Yes, we are, as long as it won't fall down with all the stomping we do." He tilts his head, watching as you give some of your precious ramen to Eunhwa, "why do you ask?"

"I was wondering if we could as well, maybe a group photo or something," you shrug while looking down, "just a thought I had."

"Sure, you can!" He beams, taking out his phone.

"What are you doing? No phones while we eat, that's your rule!" Wooyoung gets a slap over the head for his troubles, letting it dangle defeatedly.

"Let's take a picture. Just for us," he says as he stands, "we can print it out for you guys to hang."

"Right now?" Aeyoung asks as she hurriedly slurps the remainder of her noodles.

"It's a day to remember, right?" Hongjoong smiles brightly as you stand excitedly and jump before helping Sunji up. "The first time we've ever all been together. We can take another when Xikers get back, too. Call it a family portrait."

A few minutes of strateger-ing later, you and the rest of your to-be group are sitting facing away from the mirror, and the men are standing facing it. So one way or another, everyone is in the frame.

"Everyone ready?" Jongho, holding the phone from the middle of his group, asks.

"Yes," the walls echo.

"Say crUSh!"

In the photo, you're too busy smiling at Jongho's words to pose properly, head leaned against Eunhwa's shoulder as she holds up a shy peace sign, holding your hand with her free one.

Sunji has one arm wrapped around your shoulder, the other around Yoomi. Nobody would be able to tell how sore they were from dancing, not by the fact that they both have the biggest smiles ever on their faces. Namseon is laid across their laps, looking up at you with admiration clear on her face.

Bongcha and Ayeoung are at either side of the line, each having one side of a heart held up, as if saying that their younger members fill their heart. When they had time to plan that, nobody knows. But it would become their go to pose.

The reflection in the mirror behind you all shows the way that the men have just as big of smiles as they watch over you.

A beautiful picture with beautiful meaning.

Nobody would even notice the way Hongjoong mimics your pose subconsciously with his head titled, or the way Mingi's eyes are glued to you, the way Yeosang was visibly pleased with the fact that he was aligned with you, the way Seonghwa found himself blushing at the sound of your laugh.

You're the only one in the practice room at all the next day. It was your groups only rest day of the week, but you had plans with your senior group.

You're laying on your stomach in the middle of the floor, going through your loose-leaf papers of lyrics and spreading out the ones that you deem acceptable. The instrumental of your groups song is on repeat coming from the computer, and you mumble the lyrics as you sort your own.

"Damn, did a hurricane come through here?" Wooyoung jokes as he opens the door, making you look up for a second before you look around yourself; suddenly in the middle of a large circle of decorated stationary papers that you don't remember setting down.

"Ah, sorry! You guys are early," you scramble to pick up the mess as they file into the room.

"We're right on time," San points to the clock, making you snap your head around to glare at it.

"Traitor," you whisper to it, making them chuckle. "Time got away from me, I was trying to separate them by genre to make it easier to show you guys!"

"Aw, you're thoughtful," Mingi smiles as he picks up a paper, reading it closely.

"Oh, that should be sexy vibe!" You point to him, then to one that Jongho picks up, "that's love songs! Over here with Yunho-ssi is sad vibe, over by Seonghwa-nim is feel good songs."

"What's this pile?" Hongjoong asks as he picks up the only stack of papers that's in a distinct pile.

"Personal favorites," you beam towards him, sitting up with a groan, "the ones that gave me the biggest headaches, too. Picked them out especially for you." A couple of laughs are heard around the room.

Yeosang is looking over everything with wide eyes, "(Y/n)...?"

"Yes?" You respond quickly, helping Yunho pick up and pile together the sad songs.

"I thought you said you've only been doing this a few months?" His words make the others freeze with realization as well, the absolute mess of papers could only mean one thing, "there must be a hundred songs here."

"Close," you shrug nonchalantly, "one hundred twelve." You straighten out your stack, humming the lyrics to the song still going on the stereo.

You feel all of their eyes on you, and you look up between them, "what's wrong?"

"(Y/n)," Hongjoong begins slowly, crouching to your level and gesturing around, "are all of these finished?"

"Uhm," you look around, "for the most part!" You nod, still unaware of what's going on in their heads.

"You wrote one hundred and twelve songs almost to completion in a few months?" He blinks in disbelief as you nod your head again.

"Dude," San runs a hand through his hair before laughing baffled.

"What? What is it!? You guys are freaking me out!" You pout as you look between them all quickly.

Mingi reaches over the papers, careful not to crumple any, and sets a hand on your shoulder, "if half of these are even a bit as good as your rap from the other day, or the song we wrote, you're more than an ace... you're a lyrical genius."

You look around at the papers, suddenly realizing just how many songs you've written. "Oh, shit."

" 'Oh, shit' is right," Hongjoong giggles at your face of shock as you scan the papers, "your mind could be a goldmine! Even I can't do this. Nobody can do," he gestures to the mess that his members are surrounding, "this."

"But," you begin, taking a breath, "I did?"

"Fuck yeah, you did! I knew there was something about you!" Mingi punches Wooyoung in the leg with a, "told you so."

"Ow!"

"But, what if they aren't good? What if my rap was a fluke?" You speak over Mingi and Wooyoungs argument, quickly being proven wrong.

"This is incredible," Jongho says as he looks up from the love song he's been reading, "these are good. Every single one I've picked up is good."

"In this pile too," Seonghwa nods, offering a paper with purple lines to Yunho, trading it for the one he had with flowers on the border.

"You must have been a writer in your past life," Yeosang sits cross legged at the border of the papers, beginning to help sort through them now that his shock has passed. "A good one, at that."

With nothing else to say, you all begin putting the papers into neater piles. Often passing them around the circle to one another to either show a particularly good one or to get an opinion about what genre it goes into. They'll call out ones they aren't sure of by the title on the top, and usually you know right away.

"Midnight Fic- Fiction?" Seonghwa reads, peeking at you for your answer.

Seonghwa hands it over with a small smile as he notes how comfortable you're becoming with them. "I like it," he nods, "upbeat?"

"Yes, that's how I imagine it," you bop your head to the imaginary beat, the music on the computer long being turned off. "Thanks a bunch, Oppa!" You sit quickly and peck his cheek before turning back and sliding to Hongjoong, eagerly explaining the background you imagine for the song; completely unaware that Seonghwa is malfunctioning behind you from the platonic cheek kiss and the nickname that had slipped.

With you and Hongjoong's minds combined, you had finalized your first ever song. You often went back to the track he made for inspiration, and he went to your messy notes and scribbled lyrics.

You were singing it through with the music from his phone, and he nods along; "I think we just broke a record!" He smiles as it comes to an end, "fastest production of a kpop hit."

"Hit," you shake your head with a laugh, "I doubt it."

"No, that's so cute, it will definitely be popular!" Mingi says from his place lying on the floor.

The piles were distinct and paper clipped, courtesy of Seonghwa. Yeosang was straightening out the last one. You decided to keep them all in Hongjoongs studio for the time being, until he could go through them all. He said you could come and get them whenever you wanted, and joked that it would be 'Myeongi and Hongjoong's studio.

"You think so?"

"Definitely," Jongho nods as he sets down the love song that had become his favorite, "you really have a talent, Ye-ssi."

"Like seriously!" Wooyoung agrees, "it's kind of scary. Where has Jisu been hiding you?!"

You wave him off with a smile, looking at the clock. "Ah! It's past midnight!" You crawl over Hongjoong's lap quickly and slide to your bag, getting your phone. "We've already been announced as a group, all of our videos should be up!"

A few of them bring out their own phones, going to different social medias to see how things are being received.

As you're scrolling through their videos on tiktok, you hear your own yell come from San's phone; followed by Seonghwa and Mingi's yells. "No way! They posted the whole cover," he grins like a madman as he watches, and you quickly make your way over.

"Seriously?"

Mingi flings himself over, his chest on your back as he watches over your shoulder, "aiiiish, we're never going to live this down, Hyung."

Seonghwa crouches on San's other side, clicking on the comments while the video keeps playing. "Hey, they love her though! It's worth it to be a little embarrassed."

"What are they saying?" Your head blocks their view as you lean right in front of San's phone.

"Yah, move," Mingi chuckles as he pushes your head back gently so they can see. "Look at that one! It's only been like half a hour and people are telling others who you are. 'The girl in purple is Ye Myeongi'," Hongjoong has a shy smile as they learn that you're using the stage name he came up with," 'she's the leader of KQ's pre-debut girl group-' when did you become the leader, Ye-ssi?!"

"A couple days ago," you smile as you go back to your own phone, reading the comments on the maknae's video together.

"Aww," Yunho turns his phone to you, showing you a comment under the official statement.

"S-sorry," you bow your head as you sniff, quickly wiping your tears with the tissue that Wooyoung hands over. "Sorry, this is embarrassing..."

"No," Hongjoong whispers as he joins the rest of his members in sitting around you, "it's okay... It's a big moment. You've been working towards this for a long time."

"Hongjoong is right," Seonghwa hesitates for a moment before placing his hand on your head, thankful when you lean into it instead of away. "It's okay to cry, Huebae. Take all the time you need."

Yunho is the last one to leave the building that night, and he doesn't expect anyone to be on the street. It's nearly one in the morning.

But, there you are.

Sitting on the curb, holding your bag to your chest as you look up at the sky. He follows your gaze, there isn't much to look at. You can't see the stars very well in the city.

He steps forward to ask if you need a ride home, when he hears you whispering.

"-proud, right? You loved music a lot, I remember... Maybe that's why I'm so good at it." You chuckle, but it's sad. He has to take a moment to translate the words you're saying, but he follows along well enough. He doesn't mean to eavesdrop, but his body doesn't seem to want to move. "Uncle Ujin keeps asking me when I'll visit you. I know that I should, I really should go with them one weekend... But you understand, right? I won't lie to you, and try to say that I'm too busy or something. Really, I'm just a coward, and- and I'm so mad at you, still. They won't even talk about home. I have to deal with the consequences of your actions. I have to be here every day! Why do you get to leave? Why?!"

A loud rumble of thunder is followed by an immediate downpour of rain. You let your head down, laughing at mother nature's divine sense of humor. "Great. Just great."

An umbrella opens up over your head, and you look up to see Yunho.

He gives you a small smile, and you almost want to ask how much of that he heard. "I walk out right when it starts raining, great timing, huh?" He decides that he'll just keep the fact that he heard you to himself. You were clearly struggling with something, and he didn't want to add embarrassment onto that.

"Do you need a ride, Huebae?"

He outstretches his hand, and you gladly take it.

As you all fold up and put your sticky notes in the hat, Jisu is writing all of your names on the mirror with your marker.

After counting the number of papers to make sure everyone voted, you bring the hat to her and hold it as she unfolds the first paper.

"(Y/n)-Unnie," she reads and puts a tally under your name.

The next, "Ye (Y/n)," another tally.

By the third one you begin to get nervous as — "(Y/n)."

"Bongcha!" She moves her hand to her name and makes a tally before going right back to yours, "(Y/n)!"

When all of the votes are counted (and recounted per your request), you and Bongcha are the only ones with votes. And Bongcha only has one.

"Yah, we all voted for (Y/n) besides herself!" Aeyoung giggles as you go through the papers for a third time, "it's meant to be!"

"Looks like crUSh has an official leader," Jisu smiles as she erases all of their names, leaving only yours, "congratulations."

She heads to the back of the room, where the crew is still situated and giving you a small round of applause with your members.

You stare at your name, six marks underneath it, six members that you're now responsible for.

"Unnie," Namseon stands up quickly and runs to you as she sees the tears welling up in your eyes, "are you okay?"

The others are standing as well, gathering around you to shield you from the camera. "You guys think I'll be a good leader?" You whisper, taking Sunji's hand when she offers it.

"Of course you'll be a good leader," Eunhwa reassures you just as quietly, "you already take such good care of us."

"I agree with the mouse," Bongchas playful nickname for the introvert makes you crack a smile, "and don't worry, you have me as a co-leader. You picked me out yourself!"

When the oldest member pulls you into a hug, the rest of them fall in line, creating a group hug under your name.
