This one’s a bargain. It’s the 1856 “Marshal House,” originally used as a hotel, and now has 4bd. 1.5ba. Listed at $299K. Look at how close it is to the Mississippi River and the home is also full of original charm.
Lovely colonial central hall entrance.
The sitting room has lovely big windows with plantation shutters.
A large arch leads to this cute, elegant reading nook. Notice the tray ceiling.
A second sitting room. Love the emerald green walls. There’re pocket doors for closing off the dining room.
Lovely large dining room.
This area must’ve been the original pantry. They haven’t changed the layout.
As disjointed as it is, the kitchen actually retained its original footprint. It’s updated, but unchanged. I think that it could be nicely reconfigured, I would leave it as-is and decorate it. Then, I would move that cabinet to the other side of the stove, center the stove, install an exhaust hood, and build a smaller cabinet on that side.
This is the half bath. Notice that they did a penny floor.
There’s a large landing on the 2nd fl. and plenty of room for a desk, reading area, etc.
The main bd. is lovely and they’ve added 2 large closets, which is a plus.
This is the only full bath, but it’s quite roomy and I love that they used an antique dresser for the sink.
This bd. is nice and bright w/a nook for a desk or makeup table.
The 2 smaller bds. are flexible spaces.
Isn’t that nice, each floor has a screened porch.
B/c it’s so close to the river, the current owners put up this large shed for their boats.
There’s plenty of land, the house sits on 6 city lots.
