Study Date

“Kae….” You let out a drawn-out whine, reaching across the table to gently poke your boyfriend’s arm. “I’m bored.”

Kaeya chuckles under his breath and nudges your hand with his elbow. “You’d be less bored if you actually studied, silly,” he says, looking up from the papers he’s grading. “You’re the one who wanted to join me while I do my TA work, remember? Now, you have to sit tight for a bit until these are all checked.”

You grumble and fold your arms over the table, covering your textbook, and drop your head into the crook of your elbows.

“But I don’t wanna…”

“You have a test tomorrow, though.”

You groan at the reminder, throwing a small fit on your side of the table and shuffling your notebooks and papers around. With a world-weary sigh, you sit back up and take a survey of the warzone that your workspace became. You pick up your discarded pen, resting the side of your hand against your notebook and staring blankly at the scribbles of notes that you’d taken. None of the information wants to be absorbed, and you sigh again.

You feel a foot nudge yours under the table, and you respond with a lazy kick.

“Ouch,” Kaeya says teasingly. He brings one hand to his chest, appearing most scandalized. “Is this the way you treat the love of your life? I see how it is.”

“Studying sucks,” you declare. “I’m moving to the North Pole and becoming a penguin.”

“If you studied more, you would know penguins don’t live in the North Pole.”

You kick him again, causing him to laugh at your misfortune. “That’s not even the subject, dummy.”

“Tell you what, sweetheart,” Kaeya says, cajoling. “How about you study for the last twenty minutes, so you’ll be ready for your test tomorrow, and when we’re done here we can go get boba? On me, of course.”

Immediately, you brighten up and give him a wide smile. Endeared, he reaches over the table and pets your head affectionately.

“What are you, a puppy? Does the puppy want a treat for performing the ‘studying’ trick?” he teases, to which you make a bark noise. “Alright, alright, but you have to actually study, promise?”

“Okay!” You reply, giving your notebook a determined look. Without wasting any time, you begin to recopy your notes with added commentary and clarification.

Satisfied, Kaeya gives you a soft smirk and returns to his grading.

Time passes sluggishly, and though you were motivated at first you quickly grow bored again. Only the promise of boba keeps you going, and you chug through the last of your notes just as Kaeya straightens his pile of completed grading, getting up and stretching his arms above his head. You finish your last sentence with a flourish, looking up at your boyfriend with a grin.

“Done? Good puppy!” Kaeya laughs, patting your head again. “Come on, then, let’s go get boba. I’ll even get you a pastry with it, since you finished all your notes.”

“Yay!” You exclaim, jumping up and rushing to put your stuff away. “Come on! We’ve got to get there before there’s no more free tables!”

Kaeya follows you closely as you lead the way to the boba cafe, and quietly considers the study date a success.

No Strings

The first time you see the puppet, you’d only just crashed into this strange new world.

Your containment pod had crashed in the middle of the unfamiliar ocean, and it had taken you days to drift to the nearest land. There, washed up and exhausted, you hide behind jagged shore rocks and watch in fear as strangely dressed soldiers shout at each other in a foreign language, carrying the limp form of another person.

As you look closer, you can see the distinctive lines of ball-joints, and you gasp in recognition. Another puppet!

The soldiers shout again, and two of them pry open the cliff face to reveal a hidden structure. Without further ado, the soldiers carrying the puppet bring it inside and lay it delicately in the bed of red leaves at the foot of a majestic tree. The soldiers exit just as the puppet appears to regain consciousness, and you watch in dread as the puppet rolls itself to its knees, reaching out with a cry toward the soldiers just as the twin stone doors slide shut.

You look down at your own porcelain hands, the imitation of a gulp coming from your throat. Surely, if this land treats puppets this way, then it would be wiser for you to conceal your identity for as long as possible.

With that thought in mind, you begin making plans to find some long-sleeved clothes for yourself, and maybe some gloves.

The second time you see the puppet, it’s been a hundred years since your Descent. You’d been learning the language of this strange country, watching and hearing about the political turmoil within the major city. You stay on the small island you’ve stumbled upon, keeping mostly to yourself but occasionally venturing into the small industrial village to pick up supplies.

Tatarasuna’s forge stands tall in the center of the canyon, the villager’s houses dotted along the walls, and workers bustle through the streets and across suspended bridges as they go about their day. You watch on with a tinge of envy, wishing you were still home on the deck of the Space Station you’d been created on, enjoying the atmosphere of space travelers coming and going to distant planets and bringing home fantastic stories.

You shuffle in through the crowd, still amazed at how they can manage despite their lack of technology. You purchase a few rolls of bandages, to wrap your ball-joints, and some thick salve, which you smooth into the seams of your face to facilitate their more natural looking movement. You don’t have the supplies to perform the same maintenance you once did, after all.

When you turn around after making your purchase, you see the puppet working in the forge. He’s hammering a thin strip of metal, following the instruction of his brown-haired mentor. He looks better, more energetic, but there still seems to be an air of melancholy about him. His joints have faded to barely-noticeable lines, you notice with slight bitterness. Whatever magic he’d been made of seems to be aiding him in blending into human society. You wish you had that luck.

With your purchases in hand you turn back to the woods, not noticing how the puppet looks up and watches as you walk away.

The third time you see the puppet, you’d been in pretty dire straits for a while.

You had to leave Inazuma behind, as much as it pained you. You couldn’t stay in one place for too long, unless you wanted someone to realize just how long-lived you are and try to uncover your puppet identity. That’s how you find yourself in the wilderness of Mondstat, scrounging around on the outskirts of the countryside for supplies.

That’s when you bump into him, literally.

You’re not paying attention to where you’re going when you collide with a suspiciously hard body. You let out a soft ‘oof’ on impact, extracting yourself from the tangle of limbs and black fabric with apologies already on your lips. They all fall silent when you look up to see the face of the mysterious Inazuman puppet from five hundred years past.

“You’re the-”

“- weird traveler-”

“- sad puppet-”

“- from Tatarasuna!” The two of you blurt out at the same time.

“What?!” He reacts first, scrambling to get you off of him. He backs away with an angry expression, pointing at you accusingly. “How do you know that?!”

“I saw you!” You say, trying to explain this in a way that doesn’t make you sound insane. “Hundreds of years ago, I saw you in Tatarasuna! I used to go there to buy my wrappings!”

You quickly unwind your bandages, showing him your own chipped and stained ball-joints. You’d fallen into disrepair a while ago, not having access to the necessary materials to maintain your body. “Look, see? I’m a puppet too!”

The other puppet stares in awe and confusion, so many questions flitting across his expression. Finally, he looks up at you with a hardened gaze. He snatches his kasa hat off the ground, jamming it onto his head with a jingle of the heavy metal charms tied to it.

“You look awful,” he says, finally, to which you take offense.

“Excuse me!” You berate him. “That’s a rude thing to say to a complete stranger! I just haven’t been able to get maintenance, that’s all…”

He looks at you, considering, before seeming to come to a decision. “Come with me, I know somebody who can probably help you. He’s a Doctor.”

The way he says the word has a strange weight to it, but you don’t know enough to question him about it. “Really? I could really use a bit of help, honestly.” You say, tentatively extending your hand to him to shake on it. “I’m glad I ran into another puppet before I completely disintegrate.”

“Sure, glad to help,” he smiles, all teeth. “Come on, what’s your name?”

You tell him yours, a name you haven’t heard in a terribly long time, and certainly not from the mouth of another person.

“Is that so? Well, it’s nice to meet you.” The puppet tips his hat and his sharp periwinkle eyes look at you from the shadow of its brim. “My name is Scaramouche. I think you will be a great help to me in the future, my fellow puppet.”

Houston, we have a problem

You let out a growl of frustration as you feel another candy hit the back of your head. You whip around to catch the suspect in the act. You glare at him, but Wanderer only snickers as he prepares another candy in the bowl of his spoon.

He launches the candy with his spoon-catapault, hitting your shoulder this time as you get up and stomp over to him, snatching the utensil from his hand as he protests.

“Hey! I was using that!” He tries to grab it back, but you move quickly and put it in the sink, out of his range.

You still aren’t sure why Wanderer appeared in your house so suddenly. You’d been playing Genshin quietly in your room, doing one of the SPiral Abyss floors, when your active character (coincidentally, Wanderer) clipped out of bounds and you could only watch in despair as he fell off the platform and into the surrounding void.

The shock of your life came a few seconds later when his heavy body suddenly appeared above you and crashed into you like a sack of bricks. You still have a bruise from the impact.

“Would you quit picking on me? I’m trying to look up a way to send you back into the game!” You hiss, trying not to let it show that nothing you’ve googled so far came up with any results. It seems that sudden manifestation of fictional characters is a trait unique to you.

“Why would I want to go back to Teyvat when everything here is so much easier?” Wanderer counters, letting himself slump comfortably into the cushions of your bed. “I don’t have to fight monsters or petty criminals here, and there’s quick access to all kinds of household utilities that people in Teyvat could only dream of. Plus, it’s quiet here. No nagging Travelers or Buer telling me to do my homework.”

“But you don’t belong here!” You protest weakly, not sure how to convince him that he needs to go home. “What if something happens, and you get like… glitched out of existence or something?”

“Sounds like a bonus, to me.”

You reach over and smack the hat off of his head. “Cut it out with the self-deprecating shit for a second,” you scold. “I thought Nahida was beating that habit out of you.”

“She’s too soft to beat anything,” he shrugs and picks his hat back up, resting it against the side of your mattress. “I’m going to get tea.”

He rolls off the bed and heads into the kitchen. You return to your research with a bit of desperation, listening to him exclaim in delight at your electric kettle, boiling the water in record speed, much to his delight. The thought of him being stuck here indefinitely frustrates you, you certainly don’t want to hold him back or inconvenience his story in the game.

Mostly, you’re frustrated at how much you almost don’t want him to go back, too excited at the notion of having your favourite character all to yourself. Not that you’ll tell him that, though.

Back to the drawing board, you guess.

Uncovering, Unraveling (working title): Imagine Marinette had accidentally outed her Loveybug identity (as in Woven In) to Cat Walker in the (Un)Suited plotline... basically Farewell Gifts but make it smut lol

The Merits of Bagging a Hero (working title): Adrien and Marinette are invited at Alya's and Nino's place for their usual wine&dine night. Everything is going fine, Mari being flustered and Adrien being oblivious as usual - until Alya brings out the topic of hero-specific free passes and the two become inexplicably passionate about who would be the best hero lay between Ladybug and Chat Noir...

Poker Face: Loveybug AU, Cat Walker angst

Heart(s) on Her Sleeve: Companion piece for Poker Face, Loveybug's side of the angst

Tbqh the biggest motivation for getting this done is getting it over with, which is probably why I've been having so much trouble tackling it lol. I'll just say that I initially intended it to end with platonic Mariwalker buuuuut there may be some smooching hehe

Turns out I'm a SUCKER for scenarios where Cat Walker learns Marinette is Loveybug lol I will have a lot of fun writing the surprise conversation (won't go too much into details bc spoilers) they'll have about his feelings... with Adrien still inside Marinette, both of them deliberately avoiding addressing the fact or doing anything at all abt it lol

This will be 200% crack and I will have SO MUCH FUN writing the most batshit stuff I can come up with. Alya, ever the shit-stirrer, figures out Adrien is Chat Noir halfway through the conversation and spends the rest of the fic basically eating popcorn and fanning that trashfire of a debate lol

Chat Noir is a necessary outlet for Adrien. When Cat Walker has to pick up Loveybug's slack, his energies and enthusiasm are slowly but surely drain until the only reason he dons his mask, the only reason he gets out of bed, is Loveybug's unrestrained and unconditional affection. This can't last - and yet, it's his duty to carry the weight and not let anything show. I'm gonna enjoy writing the pressure building >:3c

There's one phrase to describe Loveybug!Marinette: bracing for punishment. She's too raw with all the Loveybug intensity, she just CAN'T turn into Ladybug, so she just keeps pouring her heart out knowing that at some point, somehow, she will be horrifically punished for it. Just like with Kim. Just like every time she tried to confess to Adrien. But as a hero, the consequences of her mistakes could be... she doesn't want to think about it. She keeps her head low and prepares for the worst, dreading and longing the moment when she'll be forced to wear Loveybug's lovestruck smile again.

Anyone I would have thought to tag Kayla has already tagged, with the excellent exception of @asukiess, so I won't be tagging anybody else! Feel free to join in the fun and consider this a soft tag if you (yes YOU reading this rn) want to tho :3

Neon Moon

Fandom: My Hero Academia, Boku no Hero Academia

Genre: Romance/Fluff

AN: This was written for the CASBkDk event, so each fic is based off a song by the band Cigarettes After Sex!

Working night patrols fucking sucked.

After nearly two weeks of them, Katsuki had thought he would have adjusted. Night patrols were normal for heroes, all of them taking their turns without the sun, and he'd been lucky to at least grab the summer spots. Even after dark the city shimmered with heat, the buildings and streets radiating off everything they'd stored for the day, keeping his palms sweaty and his gauntlets filled, maintaining his capabilities. That, at least, had been lucky.

But he'd always been a day person, even having to drag Deku out of bed during the break mornings so they could play as kids, and that hadn't changed over the years. He rose with the sun, went to sleep shortly after it left, and only stayed awake most nights past 9 if Deku was involved in keeping him awake. Weeks couldn't replace decades of habit, leaving him exhausted and ready for his turn to be up.

The only comfort he took was the diner he went to every morning for breakfast (dinner? He couldn't keep shit straight anymore), their coffee burning hot and the chef willing (or uncaring enough of the time, same as Katsuki) to cook whatever he wanted from any of their timed menus. Part of him hated it; food too greasy, the place stinking of smoke and something that made his stomach churn, the people nice enough but still extras he'd happily trade for a few hours in bed.

The other part, the majority of himself, loved it. It was a five minute walk from their apartment, which meant every break he took to get food that would sit too heavy in his stomach let him see this.

Let him see an exhausted Izuku slumped over the booth they'd chosen as their own, snoring quietly as he waited for Katsuki to join him. The nerd had made it clear that he'd at least get up in time to have a meal with Katsuki, even if it mean throwing off his own sleep, dragging himself out of their home more often than not in the same pajamas he was just going to crash back on the couch in when he got home. If it wasn't for this, Izuku sleeping with his cheek pressed against a most likely cold cup of coffee, the neon lights from the window casting fun shapes over his drooling face, they'd never see each other, the only overlap those few precious moments between one leave and the other coming.

Katsuki had tried to tell him he didn't need to, they could not see each other for a few weeks, but he'd be lying if he tried to say he hadn't been pleased by Izuku's insistence. Because fuck did he hate night patrol, but at least this made it bearable.

Yuu hanging out with Trein is surprising quite cute

Oh man, I really found Yuu having the option to be interested in Trein's love life so funny 😂 aside from that, I haven't seen an in-depth translation of Malleus' part of the event that included interactions with Trein and Yuu, so ngl, I can't say if I find it cute yet 😭

Honestly, if I was Yuu, I'd have been lowkey pissed that I wasn't mainly going to be with the other students if only because I would have wanted to tag along with Azul, Deuce, and Epel (for obvious reasons). So that also plays into it.

Aside from that, though, I really love how Jamil teased Trein 😭 like, he's letting loose. He's having fun, and when the others joined in, it was probably one of the most wholesome moments Twst will ever put out. I find it really easy to forget they're high school students because of all the drama happening and how much of the boys' trauma we explore (not to mention language barrier). But reading that moment, it really made me think damn . these ARE teenage high school boys and that just made me feel so warm and fuzzy 🥺 For me, that was what took my heart

Also, after this, it is now my hc that Trein was a little wilder in his youth and did God knows what with his wife in the waterway if you know what I mean :3c I mean come on, it was a honeymoon

Ask Game: Self-Insert Lore

3 - how do the other characters generally feel about your self insert?

At first everyone was a little weary about Kaden. (They were right to feel that way tbh considering who my s/i is at the start of this. they just don't know it) after awhile Sitara warms up to Kaden and they soon become fast friends. Marcus and Wrench follow soon after. Josh basically tolerates them, neither likes or dislikes. Saying "oh good, now there's two of them" (referring to how loud both Kaden and Wrench can be at times lol) Horaito welcomed Kaden no problems and they instantly become friends. Eventually it feels like a found family to Kaden and vice versa. Co-Workers at blume have a lot of trust and faith in Kaden. Kaden ends up sharing all the same enemies as DedSec does later on.

11 - what kind of outfit(s) does your self insert wear?

Here's some examples! I was going to make like cool collages and stuff but my pc is being a weiner and I'm using my slow laptop lol but basic fashion for Kaden would include the following:

15 - how does your self insert play a role in the plot of the story? do they help directly defeat the villain, support the heroes, etc.?

They are the villian at the start of the story. Kaden was sent in by Blume to infiltrate the DedSec group and leak information from them back to Blume. At the start it was all a show. Kaden leaked thousands of files back to Blume at the start. Eventually however, Kaden came to love their found family and even caught feelings for Wrench. They didn't want to be the bad guy anymore and they stopped leaking information. Then a little later after that Wrench and Kaden entered a romantic realationship together. Kaden tried so many times to tell everyone the truth but they didn't know where to start. That was until some months later when Blume directly contacted Kaden as they were working along side their fellow DedSec fam and everyone found out about Kaden's betrayal and Wrench was hit the hardest, he thought everything up until this point was a complete lie, that Kaden lied about their feelings for him and everything, which wasn't the case. Eventually Wrench spoke for the group and told Kaden to leave and NEVER come back. As for canon events while Kaden was undercover, they helped assist DedSec in any plans they had like helping with the cyberdriver car and when all the shit hit the fan with the FBI and Wrench got captured, Kaden helped rescue him and get his mask back to him. (Even managed to use their prime mode of transportation (a skateboard) to crack an agent across the face in order to escape with Wrench. It as fun! :D ) Kaden supported the 'heroes' while simultaneously was a 'villain' don't worry though, eventually it has a happy ending...just not as soon as one would hope. It took defecting from Blume, anonymously leaking information from Blume to DedSec, running away to the UK, and joining the DedSec Resistance there for Wrench and Kaden to reunite and work out things. (That's years after the events of WD2!) As for everyone Kaden has met in the UK for the most part they get on well. Hell Kaden's best friend is an AI DedSec stole! (Bagely) (Kaden plays roles in the resistance just as they did with Wrench's group however, this time there are no lies or betraying. They've grown and they've learned who the real enemy is.)

The following updates are being made to the rules page, which will be updated ASAP. Please like this post so we know you read it.

1. Be respectful OOC and have fun IC. Whatever that means to you. Happy plots, sad plots, crazy plots, drama plots, ridiculous plots, soap opera style plots, mellow plots, boring plots, exciting plots...ect... 1a. Keeping in the theme of respecting OOC, please still send in all plot forms to the player service page to make sure that certain plots are not overlapping. 1b. No plot idea will be denied, unless you're not meeting activity requirements. 1c. Surprise pregnancies no longer have a limit of how many times you can do them. 1d. 4 pregnancy related plots will be allowed at once. A player can only hold 1 spot on the list.

2. Activity checks will be once a month. If you haven't posted in 2+ weeks you will be put on warning, if you haven't posted in 4+ weeks you will be removed. 2a. Ship interaction does not count towards activity 2b. Any task/event posted for that month must be COMPLETED 2c. Posting at least 1 starter a month and replying to at least 3.

3. You can apply for up to 4 characters when first joining. After that we ask you wait at least 1 week before picking up any new characters. 3a. Once you've been in the group at least 1 week there is no longer a character limit for you. 3b. There will no longer be a wait time between character pick ups. 3c. We reserve the right to deny a character request at any time if we feel like you are not being active enough on the characters you have.

4. Events will not be posted every month but when they are posted they are mandatory for every player on at least 1 character unless otherwise stated. 4a. Each event post will have specific goals to meet in order to be considered complete. 4b. If you ever want your character to host an event please reach out to us. 4c. Each event will be worth reward points.

5. The rewards blog will become more used. 5a. Being active, completing tasks, and completing events are just a few ways to earn points. 5b. You can trade in your points for rewards. 5c. The top reward is to earn Verified Player status.

6. This group is no longer concerned with growing and being like all the other groups out there. We are determined to dance to the beat of our own drum and do things our way. This group will always remain open to new players who wish to join but our main goal is to keep the players we have and strengthen the OOC bond and continue with IC storylines. 6a. The amount of time you have been in the group along with the commitment, loyalty and activity you show will contribute to you being able to become a verified player. 6b. Verified Players will have certain perks the rest of the group won't have. One of those perks is only knowing what they are once you reach VP status. 6c. The list of players who have made this list will never be public. 6d. The Verified Player status is a way for us to show how we appreciate the players who participate. 6e. A small list of players were selected as Beta testers for this new program. They will remain on the list and we hope to grow it in the years to come.

OKAY SO I wanted to ask what was that made you think about making the vacation ACNH themed? I feel like it's something strange to think of and very creative actually, the fact that you were able to think about stuff for the themed days was actually so cool and the fact that there was always Leoide around even where I'd struggle to fit it, you did. When i first read the title i wasn't expecting much, but the fanfic is actually amazing and is now one of my favorites and i can't wait until it's done!! SO like. The acnh theme is partially like self projecting lol. When I first got to play on a switch I was able to play acnh and honestly really loved it. Spent all summer addicted to acnh. Just the simplicity of catching bugs, fishing, hitting lads with nets, and filling my beach front with junk I just "couldn't sell" was the best thing ever. So I kinda thought like, what if Idia was addicted to acnh (projecting), and what if Leona was jealous of that?? The only thing that could pull me away from acnh was pretty much other acnh things (looking up acnh clothes designs online lol) so I thought it'd be neat if Leona and Idia followed the same pipeline where Leona gets Idia away from his switch through the introduction of an acnh themed event. So, tada!! Acnh leoide vacation! I'm glad to hear you found it cool tho!! I was acnh and leoide delusional I just merged my interests lol. I wonder how my villagers are doing now... (Haven't visited in two months)

Planning out the themed days has honestly been the funnest part, and a few of the themed days I planned that I was looking forward to is coming up! All I had to do was think of things I enjoyed doing in acnh and just... Translate it to the fic, I guess? Seashell gathering was fun, so leoide had a beach walk. I also really enjoyed fishing, so I got them to fish in a pool! They could've caught normal bugs in the bug chapter, but I had so much fun snacking comrades with nets that I thought the shrouds should have the same thrill lol. I almost included diving, but the only pleasure of diving in acnh is just the sight of the endless blue. Getting another hunk of seaweed isn't fun... Anyway yeah, you'll see the rest of my favorite acnh activities soon enough hehe!!

I'm so yippee to hear Leona crossing is like, one of your favorites like yeah!!! That's so cool to hear saying that this is my first fanfic and everything YEAHHH!!!!! AMAZING WOOO!!! Makes me really happy that you've enjoyed my passion project like fr fr!! Can't wait till this is done myself :3c I have some neat plans....... And some of these later chapters I've had planned since the beginning so I'm excited to get to em lol.

I'm gonna split this one into two posts, just so it's not a mile long so these are the Koro-Sensei questions

6 - How does your f/o introduce you to their friends?

First meeting was very standard because it was a professional meeting with Mr. Karasuma and Irina, and unfortunately those are his only friends so he hasn't gotten to do a big Boyfriend reveal but if he could it's gonna be a big deal.

He does go out of his way though to do the "Here comes the most specialist boy ever" meme after we started dating, and still does it to this day when I enter a room.

9 - You and your f/o have a party/meeting/gathering to attend. How does it go?

I'm bad at social events and Koro-Sensei isn't suppose to go to them but you know we gotta crash an important meeting disguised as a party Karasuma goes to at least once

If he's not drinking, it'll probably go pretty okay. Dancing and taking over the entire buffet and maybe being a bit weird, but he's a social guy. A bit much but pretty funny. If his disguise holds up we should make it out A-Okay.

And then, you know, get hard scolded by Karasuma the next day for jeopardizing his mission like that.

12 - How does your f/o interact with neighbors, if you have any?

He's the world's most wanted being right now, his one caviot is he must stay indoors don't talk to anyone he's a government secret.

And he's also an extrovert with a bleeding heart. I come home to find him helping the old woman one floor down pack in her groceries, and while he's there he might as well change the light bulb that went out in her bathroom and sweep the floor and take her dog for a walk it's only neighborly.

I'll catch him playing tutor for the kids down the hall, and when they're done go out behind the building and join them for a game of kick ball. He'll loan parenting books to the single dad who just moved in, and end up staying to help him make dinner.

He's so social we simply cannot contain him. Karasuma stopped visiting us because all the stress of watching a living weapon make cooky faces at the baby in the elevator was starting to give him migraines.

13 - How do other people see/describe your f/o? What’s the difference in their perception of them and yours?

Obviously a lot of people think he's weird and a lot, which is very true we have that part in common at least.

But you'd actually be surprised how many people seeing, meeting, and even understanding Koro-Sensei for the first time think he's scary. I mean he's 8 feet tall and can go mach 20 and when you know that, yeah he can seem pretty terrifying.

To me he's very Pathetic Little Meow Meow. Sure he can travel from our apartment to China in 15 minutes, but if you were to trip him on the street it'd take him a full minute to get his bearings enough to get up. His main weakness is how flusterable he is. I kiss his cheek and he's out of commission for the next hour.

So while other people may see an 8 foot tall bionically engineered weapon, I see a big loser with zero impulse control and a bleeding heart.

club penguin rambles

there are a LOT of images bc the post is abt cp outfits. but also a ton of text bc i talk way too much. also I POSTED THIS ON THE WRONG ACC. I POSTED IT ON MY THEME TESTING BLOG BY ACCIDENT SO I HAD TO REPOST THIS. its the 11pm brain fog getting to me

okay so club penguin released a new clothing catalogue for november and here's my hippie fall outfit i came up with. it's designed around the sweater bc i thought the sweater was super cute but there wasn't any other hand item except guitar that really matched with the outfit. and like yes i could have it without the guitar (which i did do to take the 2nd pic) but i wanna equip a hand item!!! which sounds really stupid bc it is stupid but i'm picky and idc. the sweater IS adorable tho like look at it, its got little puffles on it and shit!!!! fucking adorable!!! and the colour is so pretty and nice too :3c i would buy that sweater if it existed irl. also look at the cool ass ghost puffle!!! their name is goober LMAO i dont rmb why i named them that. i think i was thinking like goofy goober but i already have an orange puffle named goofy ah so i guess thats why i just named this ghost puffle goober? genuinely i have no fucking clue. but i'm gonna keep them around cuz they look dope as fuck and also they match my penguins purple skin colour which i think is neat.

other outfits

since i am making a post abt cp outfits i also decided to add my previous outfits (that i have screenshots of) to this post too just to archive them so i can come back in 10 yrs and be like wow 16 yr old me had horrible fashion taste. (i hope tumblr is still around in 10 yrs. i mean, its lasted 15 yrs, so like whats another 10 right?)

for context:

the first one is one of my earliest outfits which i made with help & advice from moose bc i suck at fashion (thank u moose). i think it looks cool, tho there wasnt like a theme or anything that i was going for. i just liked the hair + jacket and wanted to make an outfit with it lol

the pizza one is from the pizza party event. do not ask me why they had a pizza party event. i have no idea. anyway it was really stupid but fun and i suck at the pizzatron 3000 minigame. i wanted to use a mouse for it but my mom took my mouse when she took my gaming pc so i had to use mac trackpad to play and boy it was Not good. also i gave my puffle jellybean a sombrero which i know is mexican and pizzas are from italy but i didnt know what else to give him!!! plus he looks really stupid cuz the sombrero is massive which i think is cute. oh yea, also i met rookie during the pizza party and i wanted to equip his background but my penguin covers half of rookies body and it didnt look good so i ended up going for this bg instead. its kinda lame but whatever, i still got to meet rookie and thats all that matters <3 (btw, for context, theres lots of npc mascots in the game and every so often they "come online" (its just a bot walking around really) and if u join the same area as them, u get a stamp + bg gift. i met rookie & jetpack guy during the pizza party and got their stamps and gifts but i love rookie more lol, hence why i wanted to use his bg. its too sad it didnt fit nicely bc i think its a p cool bg but oh well)

the bottom two are just variations of each other. basically for the sept or oct catalogue (i forgot which), the cp team added a bunch of punk stuff and i bought all of it bc it actually looked dope as hell. the one on the left came first but i didnt rlly vibe w the hair which is why i ended up changing it. also, the wings are a neck item which is why the first outfit doesn't have the dog tags even tho i wanted them. couldn't have both ): anyway, the second one came about after i got to meet cadence during the music party and i LOVE cadence (i had a massive crush on her when i was younger. like literally shes so pretty?!!) so i got rid of the raven wings so u can see her face in the bg. i can't lie i do think the bg is a bit lame bc its completely empty on the right which makes it feel kinda unbalanced, also u can see i have the cadence signature pin equipped. u can't change the positioning of the pin which sucks bc i would've put it on the right if i could but oh well. and yea i added the dog tags since no more wings. i accidentally clicked jellybean before taking this pic so it sent him home LMAOOO and i couldnt be bothered to get him back at the time so thats why hes missing from the pic. overall i think this outfit is def my favourite, the vibes are just so good. i love punk. oh and also the vampire teeth are bc the catalogue was mainly a halloween theme and well, they looked cool lol

for the record, jellybean is my favourite puffle hence why hes in all these pics. idk why but i just love white puffles, theyre so adorable and smiley despite being shy. also white puffles are slightly smaller than all other puffles which makes them 10x cuter. but i'm gonna keep goober around for a while just cuz they look cool as fuck. but i'll prob switch over back to jellybean when its closer to xmas. anyway its now 1120pm (i spent like half an hour writing this) so im going to sleep. goodnight

When I was in high school a very shy friend of mine approached me, she was someone I had taken care of in social settings a lot. So she thought to ask me to join her in this online chat game where you had a “sims” like atmosphere.

I was like, yea I fuckin love the sims I’m in. So tired to find fun things to do and places to explore. I told her I found the places interesting and people got pretty creative. I didn’t really come across people to chat with so much but the atmosphere was pretty. You could support the devs by buying a different kind of avatar. So I did that.

Time passed and I got into different things. She and I reached a point where our friendship ended due to unfortunate events. My cousin has a daughter who looked up to me a lot, because of our odd family dynamics she was more like a niece and she was young enough for me to take care of during a lot of points in her life. She showed me this game she was really into where they acted like wolves and such, I saw her get more and more into it.

Later, she spread out in this fandom. Started selling her art and things. As you can imagine the natural progression in things, she started making her own fursuits. Remember how I told you about my aunt being a seamstress? That’s her grandmother. So they worked in them together until she got more confident in her own work.

I had no idea what a furry was. I’d seen things pertaining to them but not connected the dots. This was years ago. I learned a lot through her getting into things.

What does the friend have to do with all this? Well. As time went on and I met more of them irl, outside of their suits one pattern I noticed, and one you might not share here… I don’t know but everyone is different and I’m not so sure this is a universal experience from the people I met later… , was that without the fursuits they were often very shy people. More often than not they were socially awkward and they felt free being in fursuits. They could show parts of their personality this way safely and that is a great thing.

My friend in the past, because of the similarities in her and the people I met, among other things, I thought she probably was a furry. So I went about my life with this thought in my head, and assumption until I remembered the game she asked me to play… the one with the chat rooms I explored and then I knew. I knew she was a furry she just hadn’t told me…. You know what it was?… :3c

Fuckin Furcadia.

I still don’t know all the inside details I’ll be honest. My knowledge is pretty superficial and what I know the most is: history and what I learned of people’s mentalities. So, I looked into what information I had and what was available at the time. Why people felt at ease this way was easily understood. I wanted to be there for her to talk to and understand where she’s coming from. I don’t know the culture as much as I know individuals.

So I don’t know about patterns in fursonas and what that means for their personality, I can only guess on what animals are known for and how people use that to connect their personality with the identity they feel is right, like for example, a wolf could be someone who wants to show loyalty to their chosen people or just be fierce.

So when you said something about foxes I had no idea what you meant. I looked it up and had regrets. Lol I was innocent and pure once.

I am happy to learn or just listen to anything you want to talk about. Knowing more about you makes me happy. I always hope my presence brings you comfort to where you feel safe and comfortable sharing.

“Thirteen″ Tips for Writing About Synagogues / Jewish Writing Advice / Advice for Visiting Synagogues

So your story includes a Jew (or two) and you’ve a got a scene in a synagogue. Maybe there’s a bar mitzvah, maybe your gentile protagonist is visiting their partner’s synagogue. Maybe there’s a wedding or a community meeting being held there. For whatever reason, you want a scene in a shul. I’m here as your friendly (virtual) neighborhood Jewish professional to help you not sound like a gentile who thinks a synagogue is just a church with a Star of David instead of a cross.

Quick note: The are lots of synagogues around the world, with different specific cultural, local, and denominational practices. The Jewish community is made up of roughly 14 million people worldwide with all sorts of backgrounds, practices, life circumstances, and beliefs. I’m just one American Jew, but I’ve had exposure to Jewishness in many forms after living in 3.5 states (at several different population densities/layouts), attending Jewish day school and youth groups, doing Jewish college stuff, and landing a job at a Jewish non-profit. I’m speaking specifically in an American or Americanish context, though some of this will apply elsewhere as well. I’m also writing from the view of Before Times when gatherings and food and human contact was okay.

Bear in mind as well, in this discussion, the sliding scale of traditional observance to secular/liberal observance in modern denominations: Ultraorthodox (strict tradition), Modern Orthodox (Jewish law matters but we live in a modern world), Conservative (no relation to conservative politics, brands itself middle ground Judaism), Reconstructionist (start with Jewish law and then drop/add bits to choose your own adventure), and Reform (true build your own adventure, start at basically zero and incorporate only as you actively choose).

Synagogue = shul = temple. Mikvah (ritual bath) is its own thing and usually not attached to the shul. Jewish cemeteries are also typically nowhere near the shul, because dead bodies are considered impure.

A Bar/Bat/Bnai Mitzvah is the Jewish coming of age ceremony. Bar (“son”) for boys at 13+, Bat (“daughter”) at 12+, and Bnai (“children”) for multiples (i.e. twins/triplets/siblings) or non-binary kids (although the use of the phrase “Bnai Mitzvah” this way is pretty new). 12/13 is the minimum, 12-14 the norm but very Reform will sometimes allow 11 and anybody above 12/13 can have theirs. Probably a dedicated post for another time. Generally, however, the following will happen: the kid will lead some parts of services, read from and/or carry the Torah, and make a couple of speeches.

Attire: think Sunday Best (in this case Saturday), not come as you are. Even at very liberal reconstructionist/reform synagogues you wouldn’t show up in jeans and a t-shirt or work overalls. Unless they are seriously disconnected from their culture, your Jewish character is not coming to Saturday morning services in sneakers and jeans (their gentile guest, however, might come too casual and that’d be awkward). 1a. The more traditional the denomination, the more modest the attire. Outside of orthodoxy woman may wear pants, but dresses/skirts are more common. Tights for anything above knee common for Conservative/Reform/Recon, common for even below knee for orthodox shuls. Men will typically be wearing suits or close to it, except in very Reform spaces. 1b. Really, think business casual or nice dinner is the level of dressiness here for regular services. Some minor holidays or smaller events more casual is fine. Social events and classes casual is fine too. 1c. Even in reform synagogues, modesty is a thing. Get to the knee or close to it. No shoulders (this an obsession in many Jewish religious spaces for whatever reason), midriffs, or excessive cleavage (as I imagine to be the norm in most houses of worship).

Gendered clothing: 3a. Men and boys wear kippahs (alt kippot, yarmulkes) in synagogues, regardless of whether they’re Jewish or not out of respect to the space. Outside of Jewish spaces it’s saying “I’m a Jew” but inside of Jewish spaces it’s saying “I’m a Jew or a gentile dude who respects the Jewish space.” Outside of very Reform shuls, it’s a major faux pass to be a dude not wearing one. 3b. There are little buckets of loaner kippahs if you don’t bring your own and commemorative kippahs are given away at events (bar mitzvah, weddings). Your Jewish dude character not bringing or grabbing one is basically shouting “I’m new here.” 3c. Women are permitted to wear kippahs, but the adoption of a the traditionally masculine accessory will likely be interpreted by other Jews as LGBTQ+ presentation, intense feminism, and/or intense but nontraditional devoutness. Nobody will clutch their pearls (outside of ultraorthodoxy) but your character is sending a message. 3d. Tefillin are leather boxes and wrappings with prayers inside them that some Jewish men wrap around their arms (no under bar mitzvah or gentiles). Like with the kippah, a woman doing this is sending a message of feminism and/or nontraditional religious fervor. 3e. Additionally, prayer shawls, known as tallit, are encouraged/lightly expected of Jewish males (over 13) but not as much as Kippahs are. It is more common to have a personal set of tallit than tefillin. Blue and white is traditional, but they come in all sorts of fun colors and patterns now. Mine is purple and pink. It is much more common for women to have tallit and carries much fewer implications about their relationship to Judaism than wearing a kippah does. 3f. Married woman usually cover their hair in synagogues. Orthodox women will have wigs or full hair covers, but most Jewish woman will put a token scarf or doily on their head in the synagogue that doesn’t actually cover their hair. The shul will also have a doily loaner bucket.

Jewish services are long (like 3-4 hours on a Saturday morning), but most people don’t get there until about the 1-1.5 hour mark. Your disconnected Jewish character or their gentile partner might not know that though.

Although an active and traditional synagogue will have brief prayers three times every day, Torah services thrice a week, holiday programming, and weekly Friday night and Saturday morning services, the latter is the thing your Jewish character is most likely attending on the reg. A typical Saturday morning service will start with Shacharit (morning prayers) at 8:30-9, your genre savvy not-rabbi not-Bnai mitzvah kid Jewish character will get there around 9:30-10:15. 10:15-10:30 is the Torah service, which is followed by additional prayers. Depending on the day of the Jewish year (holidays, first day of new month, special shabbats), they’ll be done by 12:30 or 1 p.m. Usually. After that is the oneg, a communal meal. Onegs start with wine and challah, and commence with a full meal. No waiting 4-8 hours to have a covered-dish supper after services. The oneg, outside of very, very, very Reform spaces will be kosher meat or kosher dairy.

To conduct certain prayers (including the mourner’s prayers and the Torah service) you need a Minyan, which at least 10 Jewish “adults” must be present, defined as post Bar/Bat/Bnai Mitzvah. In Conservative/Reform/Recon, men and women are counted equally. In Ultraorthodox women are not counted. In Modern Orthodox it depends on the congregation, and some congregations will hold women’s-only services as well with at least ten “adult” Jewish women present.

In Conservative and Orthodox shuls, very little English is used outside of speeches and sermons. Prayers are in Hebrew, which many Jews can read the script of but not understand. Transliterations are also a thing. In Reform synagogues, there’s heavy reliance on the lingua franca (usually English in American congregations). Reconstructionist really varies, but is generally more Hebrew-based than Reform.

We’re a very inquisitive people. If your character is new to the synagogue, there will be lots of questions at the post-services oneg (meal, typically brunch/lunch). Are you new in town? Have you been here before? Where did you come from? Are you related to my friend from there? How was parking? Do you know my cousin? Are you single? What is your mother’s name? What do you think of the oneg - was there enough cream cheese? What summer camp did you go to? Can you read Hebrew? Have you joined? A disconnected Jew or gentile might find it overwhelming, but many connected Jews who are used to it would be like “home sweet chaos” because it’s OUR chaos.

In Orthodox synagogues, men and women have separate seating sections. There may be a balcony or back section, or there may be a divider known as a mechitzah in the middle. Children under 12/13 are permitted on either side, but over 12/13 folks have to stay one section or the other. Yes, this is a problem/challenge for trans and nonbinary Jews. Mechitzahs are not a thing outside of orthodoxy. Some older Conservative synagogues will have women’s sections, but no longer expect or enforce this arrangement.

Money. Is. Not. Handled. On. Shabbat. Or. Holidays. Especially. Not. In. The. Synagogue. Seriously, nothing says “goy writing Jews” more than a collection plate in shul. No money plate, no checks being passed around, even over calls for money (as opposed to just talking about all the great stuff they do and upcoming projects) are tacky and forbidden on Shabbat. Synagogues rely on donations and dues, and will solicit from members, but don’t outright request money on holidays and Shabbat.

Outside of Reform and very nontraditional Conservative spaces, no instruments on Shabbat or holidays. No clapping either. Same goes for phones, cameras, and other electronics outside of microphones (which aren’t permitted in Orthodox services either). 11a. In the now-times an increasing number of shuls have set up cameras ahead of time pre-programmed to record, so they don’t have to actively “make fire” which is “work” (this is the relevant commandment/mitzvah) on Shabbat, so services can be live-streamed. 11b. After someone has completed an honor (reading from the Torah, carrying the Torah, opening the ark, etc), the appropriate response is a handshake after and the words “Yasher Koach” (again, Before-Times).

Jewish services involve a lot of movement. Get up, sit down. Look behind you, look in front of you. Twist left, twist right. A disconnected Jew or gentile visitor would be best off just trying to follow along with what an exchange student we had once termed “Jewish choreography.” Some prayers are standing prayers (if able), some are sitting prayers. It’s just how it is, although a handful of prayers have variations on who stands.

1 Day of Glee Blogs: kurthummeldeservesbetter

Every time @kurthummeldeservesbetter hosts a Glee Blog Awards (and I say every time because it has happened more than once now), I want to nominate her, but she won’t let me.

Enough is enough.

Alex, you deserve an award. For all the work you’ve put in to making our little corner of the internet a better, more fun, more positive place to be. You do so much for our fandom and it just feels wrong for all of that hard work to go unrecognized, especially when you do so much to recognize the hard work other people put in.

So, we’ve decided to not let it go unrecognized.

I took a page from your book and figured that the best way to do this would be to ask other people to say things so that I have to say less things. So I reached out to everyone who received a nomination for the 25 Days of Glee Blogs, told them my idea, and asked them if they had anything they’d like to say to you. Several people told me they were thinking about doing this exact same thing, so I guess I’m just lucky that I got around to sending out the messages first. And, of course, lots of people had some lovely things to say (and show!) you! So, without further ado, let’s get on with it.

I admire her motivation and ability to produce daily quality content.💕 All the effort she puts into everything she puts out is simply astounding. She literally did two blog awards this fall, all by herself, completely unprompted and selflessly. She did all that for other people in the fandom and never asked for anything back.
