That one post about love language made me curious about a semi-related thing actually... Being mostly an introvert all my life, pretty much every friendship I struck with other people was always due to them approaching and poking me first ( or being brought into groups by a friend ) - I actually never do it myself, but now I wonder.

While I don't ever approach people myself, if I come across people that seem like someone I'd vibe with, I occasionally do try to show some hints that I'm interested in a potential friendship, but if the other person in question doesn't react to it in any way after a few attempts, I take that as a "Oh, okay! They're not interested!" and stop doing that, and things continue as usual.

But now I wonder if my "friendship language" is actually so wacky and subtle that in some cases people might not actually even understand or notice what I'm trying to communicate, so it's not always the former case LOL

They were allies, but she didn't have to worry about whether he was eating, or had a nice place to sleep, or was comfortable– except she did, with no complaints or expectation of payment. Just the same way he always made sure the people he cared for were safe and happy. Probably the exact moment was when she first started humming, which was the first time she'd been relaxed enough around him not to hold him at arm's length.

For Valentine, it was just a little after that point, where she let him clean and re-bandage her stab wound, only because he'd let her fix him first, and also because he'd gone to all the trouble of answering Vik's messages and getting the supplies and help she refused to get otherwise. Panam is the first person to know, and is incredibly blindsided, but thinks that does explain why Goro came all the way out to the Badlands with Val to help Saul. In fairness to her she was too distracted by all of that stuff to worry about Val's love life.

During the parade, Sandayu captures Valentine, and by the sincerity of the threat Goro gives him, he understands that they're more than just allies. He thinks Val sucks and that if Goro is going to break rules it should be for someone who doesn't belong in a garbage heap, but there's not much he can do about it that wouldn't hurt Goro's reputation even worse.

Anyone who spends more than a few minutes watching them work together can figure out that they're fond of each other. That's okay! The love languages are supposed to help you understand how others and how you express love. It's supposed to help you communicate your needs and to learn how to hear how other people say 'I love you, I care about you'!

Which means communicating that you need to hear love and them making the effort to do that for you, and also realizing that sometimes they'll tell you in their own way, and learning to hear them when they do.
