#conspiracy theories with shane dawson
reminder everyone!
unsubscribe from Shane Dawson, that man is just... not good.
he's done at the VERY LEAST!
done blackface (EDIT: I think he's full on a racist actually)
recirculated antisemitic conspiracy theories (EDIT: I'm pretty sure he's actually antisemitic.)
collaborated with and defended pedophiles (EDIT: James Charles, Collin Ballinger, and I think MORE.)
spread misinformation (so much)
made super creepy shit about people. (so much, so much.)
probably fucked a cat (he admitted to it once, and has been backtracking ever since. like he said not once but 3 TIMES that he did, not as a joke just randomly. so who the hell knows!)
body shaming
queerphobia/transphobia
animal abuse
inappropriate sexual talk with minors
sexual talk with minors (like talking about flashing his dick, and shit to literal 10-14 year olds. and just so much creepy shit man.)
and more.
like, I choose to believe the best in people. but like there's honest mistakes and then there's legit bigotry.
(e.g is accidentally unknowingly reblogging antisemitic stuff vs literal blackface. one is an accident, one is full on I know what I'm doing. he's not done blackface once BUT MULTIPLE TIMES!!!!!!)
I'm happy he's happily married, but can he please stay off the internet how many times does he have to be run off the internet before he stops.
dgoivghsdkvhjh
he's really not beating the allegations, because half of those things are literally on record. LOL
(yes it was 2010s, but again. I was alive and vibing AND NOT DOING BLACKFACE, like???? come on!!!!!!)
youtube
TW for racism, and blackface.
youtube
TW for beastiality
youtube
TW for racism, blackface, and transphobia
youtube
TW beastiality, animal abuse

Thank you for posting the reason why you are a conspiracy theorist. In 13 years in 1D fandom have never seen a larrie conspiracy theorist who doesn't have mental health or physical health issues or both. Step one to getting out of cult like conspiracies is admitting the reason why you are a conspiracy theorist in the first place. I hope you are getting help in real life and not avoiding dealing with it. Do not avoid dealing with reality by hiding in a conspiracy theory and using the larry conspiracy as a coping mechanism.
is this an ai message this is kinda amazing

Very much not my normal posting but since antisemitism is very actively rising, I feel like it's worth it:
Pinely is a Youtuber who's been doing a series on conspiracy theories and antisemitism. He's Jewish himself and his videos do a good job at exploring how people fall down antisemitic rabbit holes and how conspiracy theories relate to antisemitism (he's one of the only people ive seen who, when talking about shane dawson, specifically called out how antisemitism tied in to his shilling of conspiracy theories to kids). He's also just very funny (in my opinion) and a Jewish, non-white, non-American commentary channel, which is rare and refreshing. If you want to learn more about antisemitism, his videos might be something to check out. I rarely ever see people call out antisemitism specifically in commentary videos even when they call out racism, misogyny, etc., which makes watching someone tackle antisemitism so head on very nice.

I like to watch videos debunking conspiracy theories because you can genuinely learn a lot from someone going over the real history of something.
But it’s also got me thinking about that like 2017-ish era where Shane Dawson was a big name again this time for talking about conspiracy theories.
And I sometimes idly wonder when I’m watching these videos how many of these new teenage and 20-something conspiracy theorists are partially a product of Shane Dawson.
Like he was beloved for a minute there. You know. While he was platforming anti-semitic talking points.

now that i think about it, gravity falls actually came out at the perfect time. it was 2012. illuminati conspiracies were at their most heightened on the internet. every celebrity was doing the triangle pose with their hands over their eyes, and everyone was concerned about subliminal messaging through pop songs. people genuinely believed there was a select group of people chosen to orchestrate a "new world order" then more than ever and gravity falls was the perfect show for that particular conspiracy era, from 2012-2016, when youtubers like shane dawson with his conspiracy series were the most popular online.
kids who loved these theories and youtubers found their home with gravity falls and you can say the same thing about it today, even when these conspiracies sorta lost relevance, because the ever subtle commentary and fun the show had with them is timeless.

shifting to my YouTuber dr means getting to be part of the sister squad, living the nostalgia of 2018 social media aesthetics, getting to see the Dolan twins, Ethma tea, having to interact w j*mes c*arles, possibly getting dragged into dramageddon 2, having Shane Dawson make a conspiracy theory on me being a shifter but nobody believes him (not an original idea btw), quitting YouTube after 5 years and basically disappearing off all platforms which makes me a mysterious figure.

Chuck E. Cheese and the Recycled Pizza
The claim that the well-known kids' pizza place Chuck E Cheese recycles leftover pizza started over a decade ago but gained momentum in 2019. People posted photos of Chuck E Cheese recycling their pizza on social media. The photos show what appears to be a pizza with one inconsistency - the toppings and slices don't align.
YouTuber Shane Dawson told The Washington Post that he started noticing the pieces of pizza didn't match when he was eight. This gained a lot of attention and it was speculated that employees were reheating old pieces of pizza and putting them together to form new pizzas.
Over three years since Dawson posted the video, it still receives comments from individuals who say they used to work at Chuck E Cheese and are attempting to debunk the conspiracy theory.
"I used to work at Chuck E. Cheese right after high school in [2001]. We threw away the pizzas. No fixing pizzas with every little leftovers."
In a video titled Ex-Chuck E. Cheese Employee Responds To Shane Dawson's Conspiracy, YouTuber Payden clarified what happened in the kitchen.
He said Chuck E Cheese requires each pizza to be consistent and have 12 slices but sometimes rushed kitchen workers, like himself, will cut ten pieces instead of the required amount.
"You'll just find a really big piece of pizza, and you'll only cut that one in half," he said. "Because of that, it'll start to make a line that doesn't end up anywhere and stuff like that. It'll make all of these lines look all funky."
He added: "It's people in the kitchen just not giving a crap."
In a statement a Chuck E Cheese spokesperson said: "The claims made in this video about Chuck E. Cheese's and our pizza are unequivocally false.”

So many of you by now have been following the #Colleen-Ballinger situation and have likely been following the #Shane-Dawson situation for years now. Time and time again we've seen it happen, where YouTubers engage in predatory content and get a slap on the wrist. This is dangerous, because minors are able to access their content at any time and get sucked into their fanbases, where manipulation and grooming can and do happen. It's already happened to multiple people in really awful, disturbing ways. As audience members, we hold tremendous power with YouTube, and I think it is up to us to finally hold YouTube accountable and to send them the message that they should ban the predators, for the safety of all audiences of all ages. I'm a YouTube viewer, as most of us are. Safety matters. Stand together to tell YouTube: NO ROOM FOR PREDATORS. I'm calling upon YouTube to ban Shane Dawson, James Charles, Colleen Ballinger, Onision, and other proven YT predators, and taking this action and implementing it as an official policy for any and all other channels alleged with evidence hereafter.
This includes:
Publicly and permanently never allowing them to create a new YouTube account ever again, such as through an ip address ban
Archiving their past content to have for sending to law enforcement purposes but not making this archive public
and also most importantly
DELETING EVERY SINGLE CHANNEL OF THESE CREATORS AND DELETING ANY AND ALL SOURCES OF REVENUE FOR THESE CREATORS THAT THEY MAKE OR CAN MAKE ON YOUTUBE.
With Colleen Ballinger, Shane Dawson, James Charles, and Onision still having channels (and podcasts/podcast channels they host on YouTube), making lighthearted "family", "makeup" and "conspiracy theory" videos and podcast episodes (among others), even if they don't have monetization outside of sponsors, minors can still access their content and they can still have power and influence over fans, both under the age of 18 and not, and this is dangerous. This a power that has been clearly demonstrated they should not have. I hope you'll join me. Join the movement, sign the petition: https://change.org/BanThePredators #BanThePredators ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ And if you'd like to share this on your socials, I encourage you to use this message (it should fit in a tweet):
"I'm a YouTube viewer. Safety matters. Stand together to tell @YouTube: NO ROOM FOR PREDATORS. It's crucial to ban Shane Dawson, James Charles, Colleen Ballinger, Onision, and other proven YT predators. Join the movement, sign the petition: https://change.org/BanThePredators #BanThePredators"

'MH370: The Plane That Disappeared' Is Another Netflix Disaster
Tumblr media
Netflix is back at it again with more true crime style documentaries. This time they covered the disappearance of flight MH370.
The documentary is set up as a limited series. They interview many different people involved. But the main person they follow is a reporter who says everything as a matter of fact but most of the narrative they try to paint with their theories is so laughably outlandish and unreasonable.
The theories here are seriously outrageous and there's no reason for this exist. It's almost worse than if this was actually just a stupid Shane Dawson conspiracy video. Shane Dawson does make an appearance in this, by the way.
But where they lose the audience is when the narrator starts saying it was Russia planting evidence after they blew up the plane or a meteor hit the plane and the government is lying about it. Seriously, they say this.
It's trash. Netflix is going down the tubes with original content. Not sure who this is even for. Skip it.

one of my least favorite things is the way conspiracy theories have been made into a quirky personality trait, which normalizes conspiratorial thinking up to and including conspiracy theories like the moon landing being faked, lizard people, any sort of "secret society that runs everything" shit that's always rooted deeply in antisemitism. and he's not entirely to blame but frankly shane dawson did not fucking help this by peddling conspiracies to fucking children! he literally couldn't have made better propaganda ("hey kids, aren't conspiracy theories so cool and edgy? haha but they also sound kinda true don't they? whose to say! kinda convincing tbh!") if he had tried
anyways even seemingly harmless conspiracy theories are not good. it normalizes letting yourself belief obviously biased shit, even if done "as a joke" at first. it normalizes "hidden" antisemitism & you get annoying ass people who say shit like "lol how are lizard people antisemitic??? stop being so sensitive it's just a joke" about a theory that has always existed to actively dehumanize Jewish people and redirect anger from those in power to a scapegoat minority. conspiracy theories are not a quirky personality trait & if you are the type of person whose "into" conspiracies, especially if you are a gentile, I do not trust you! y'all are just true crime fans but without the obvious link to real life violence.
