each time I've clicked on one of your notifications in the past 2 days it's told me it has a "mature content" label and your pinned post isn't available when I go on your account! I'm not sure how tumblr works so maybe you're already aware and it's on purpose, or something, but I thought I'd tell you incase you didn't know.

I’ve seen a lot of people complaining about posts being erroneously marked as mature site-wide. Are you on an Android device by any chance? Because Tumblr was forced to make some changes to the Android app yesterday and I think that’s what’s happening because I haven’t noticed anything different and I’m using iOS. I can tell my blog hasn’t actually been marked as explicit because my posts are still showing up in the tags. Hopefully they find a fix soon because surely that’s not how they wanted the update to function?

not saying its perfect by any means but genuinely after using an app that has a one-tap-auto-translate button for any message coming in - why the fuck is this not mandatory for all apps

half the people i talk to on this ap speak either arabic or german, and we have no problem. they type something in their language, i type something in my language. flawless interaction. maybe 1% of the time something is lost in translation and we have to detective out what the other person was trying to say.

to the point where i'll go on other apps and see content that isnt in my language i instinctively look for the translate button. this isnt even a big app. im the only person irl that i know who uses it. why is this not a universal feature

Tumblr providing a toggle to prevent AI training is better than nothing. But it's still stupid because if you happen to not see a post about it, you're never going to know.

This is totally fair (also I see what you're getting at - putting in a trigger/settings option for non-consensual touching like the slap in the next build!!)

Yep. It's very likely the data is already been pulled into the AI models and cannot actually be pulled out without wiping the models, regardless of what nice platitudes they say.

Hopefully you can prevent future posts being pulled. That presumes they actually honor this setting AND don't flip it on and off periodically like Tumblr Live - which I'm sure would just be an accidental code update flipping the flag off, not intentional, right? Sure.

For each side blog you want to go to each individual blog settings page either by browsing through as directed above or going to www.tumblr.com/settings/blog/&lt;blog-name> (for those URL savvy) and turn on "Prevent third-party sharing for <blog-name>". Ctrl+F and search for third to do this faster.

To reiterate: I feel like they have made this setting intentionally confusing. To opt-OUT of AI, you need to turn this setting ON.

They are already selling data to midjourney, and it's very likely your work is already being used to train their models because you have to OPT OUT of this, not opt in. Very scummy of them to roll this out unannounced.

To opt out of sharing your public blogs’ content with third parties, visit each of your public blogs’ blog settings via the web interface and toggle on the “Prevent third-party sharing” option.
