So I have this cubone, except he’s???? Missing the skull???? He seems fine behavior wise although I’m no expert, but I don’t know if I should like get him a hat or a helmet or something??
Tumblr media
(Ooc but i found him at a convention like this and i needed him so bad my little baldy cubone <3)
So all cubone dont have skulls when they first hatch, again, the common dex suggests they do, this is not the case.
A mating pair have between 1-3 eggs on avarage per clutch, and usually either the last one to hatch and stay with them in their lifetime, OR the eldest that is still present in their lives will inherit the skulls of their parents if possible. This leaves a fair few cubone without one, and is perfectly normal and fine. Theyre more than capable of finding a new one in time, often earned in battle, from vanquished foe, so you see a lot of cubone with unusual skull helmets that dont match up with the dex's limited information.
I've lived with a cubone for years that activley swaps his skull helmet out depending on his mood, so i'd really not worry. You could certianly offer your little dude a cool hat, helmet, or even look into sustainably sourced skulls, people have to buy replacements all the time as they break during battles, or day to day through accidents. If your pokemon is a little bruiser like ours is, i'd also suggest checking in with rangers local to you to see if theres a mass outbreak of one pokemon type, if there is and your pokemon is interested, it could fell a foe and earn its own skull helmet, though this is not for the feint of heart, and can be a bit...full on for trainers.
Health wise not having one will not hurt the pokemon, they may be grouchier when it rains, and could do with some sun protection in the summer, but thats pretty straight forward with or without the helmet. I'd not encourage moves like skull bash or iron head without the missing part however, so perhaps it may come up later on, depending on how old and battle minded your cubone is.
There are options, but its not something you need to stress heavily over.

nanami kento x reader, pokemon au, wc: 730
nanami is a ranger with yuji as his trainee and reader is a psychic gym leader. had so much fun thinking up this little universe. many thanks to @strawberrystepmom for bringing out our inner trainersonas!
Tumblr media
You’re sitting in the library, sipping on a hot cup of tea in front of the fireplace when you hear it. The loud, powerful knocks on the front doors echo throughout the gym. Zorua lifts her head from her front paws, ears perking up toward the sound.
“A visitor?” You glance at the clock resting on the mantle. It’s nearly midnight. “At this hour?”
Placing your cup and saucer on the side table, you rise from your seat and exit the library with Zorua following behind you into the hall. The path from the library to the front of the gym requires several turns down long hallways illuminated by the warm glow of sconces along the walls.
Once an abandoned family estate, your gym is the culmination of years of careful curation. Every detail from the carpet, to the light fixtures, to the crown molding was transformed during your renovation. There’s the library filled with shelves upon shelves of books, rooms for meditation and mental training, and the battle court in the backyard that was once a tennis court. The property also boasts a lush garden for Solrock and Lunatone to sit undisturbed, as well as a large freshwater lake where your Psyduck spends most of his time. It took several years to bring to life your perfect gym, fulfilling your dream of creating a paradise for psychic trainers and their Pokémon.
When you arrive at the foyer you stay standing at the other end of the room opposite from the front doors. The knocking is louder now that you’re closer, and Zorua yips before jumping into your arms. You smooth a hand over her dark fur before using your telekinesis to open the gym doors.
A young boy with pink hair stumbles forward, nearly dropping the person he’s carrying on his back. Judging by his quick recovery, this boy must be stronger than he looks as he straightens up and adjusts the hold he has on the man’s thighs around his waist.
“Hello?” the boy calls out. His voice rings out clearly in the empty foyer. “Is anyone here? We need help.”
He doesn’t see you right away. Not until both your feet lift off the floor and you slowly approach him. You study his face for a reaction to your presence, and you’re impressed by his lack of fear. Most people that end up at your gym have rarely encountered someone with psychic abilities and immediately start trembling. But this boy stares up at you with a wide eyed and awed expression.
“Y-you’re flying!”
His eyes jump from your face to your feet, bending lower to examine the empty space between the bottom of your shoes and the floor.
“I’m actually levitating,” you say, smirking.
“Wow,” he marvels, drawing out the sound as he straighten up again. “So cool.”
His enthusiasm makes you smile, but now that you’re up close you can see the state the man on his back is in. Your face falls at the sight of the head resting on the boy’s shoulder. Blonde hair sticks to the sides of the man’s face, obscuring most of what isn’t already squished against the boy’s body, but you make out a dark bruise blooming near his temple along with the blood that flows from the gash on his cheek.
“What happened?” you ask.
“We were going after poachers when we got caught in a rock slide,” the pink haired boy answers. “He pushed me out of the way and ended up taking some hard hits from the debris. Please, can you help him? Your gym was the closest place I could find.”
Zorua sticks her nose out to take a timid sniff at the unconscious man then turns her head back to look at you. You see worry in her usually playful blue eyes and run your hand across her back to soothe her.
“Poachers?” Your brow furrows. “So, you’re Rangers?”
“We sure are,” he says, chest puffing with pride. But then he turns a bit sheepish. “Well, he is. Technically I’m still in training.”
You hum, taking another look at the man. The longer you stare the more his presence piques your interest, a familiar aura that suggests you’ve met before.
“What’s your name?”
“Itadori,” the boy says. “Itadori Yuji.”
You tell him your name, turning to look at him over your shoulder.
“Follow me, Itadori.”

Cassette Beasts?
Tumblr media
Cassette Beasts is a creature-collecting game by Bytten Studio! Record monsters on tapes, become a Ranger, and find the way off of New Wirral in this amazing adventure!
Spoilers below the cut!!
So I had a plan to write this review before I even finished the game. It was just that good. But! I managed to hold off until I at least finished the main game. Next goal: 100% and DLC! And also buying the OST when I have the chance.
Now, I'm not putting this off until the middle of the review: every musical track in this game is a certified banger. I absolutely loved the music of the game. As one person put it (while I was looking for the OST), I just didn't get tired of the music. And that's a pretty big win for a game where you have so, so many encounters and only a handful of tracks to play.
youtube
youtube
The way they implement the music is also impressive because it's narratively important. The lyrics work their way in when a fusion happens and during big story battles. The town theme's music plays when you're indoors. Plus the lyrics just feel right with its tones and atmosphere. Also the difference between the few main battle themes is just enough for one to feel more tense/exciting than the others. Just an overall great thing they have going on with the audio.
Okay with that out of the way!
Tumblr media
Cassette Beasts is a solid game, actually pretty high tier.
Mechanically, I've seen people compare it to Pokemon. I feel like it's like a mix of Pokemon and Persona. You can record the monsters, remaster (evolve) them at five stars, with some having having special evolution requirements. Monsters can show up as bootlegs, where they're a type other than its base type, which is just like shiny hunting but more (cause there's like 12 types). And I've already killed a plastic bootleg by accident...
Tumblr media
The moves (stickers) are mix and match, mostly according to typing. I'm pretty into it cause I love giving my party members all sorts of type coverage. I haven't particularly gone into finding weird strategies yet other than AP Refund, but I can see some cool ones thanks to needing to battle all 12 Ranger Captains.
And then you can fuse! Which I thought was interesting, and it adds an ace to go to when you're in a pinch. But you fusing means that wild monsters (and other rangers) can fuse too. Those provide some fun challenges and opportunities to find bootlegs, plus progression in post-game.
Did I mention that this game is also like a Metroidvania? Capturing certain monsters gives up to 6 overworld movement abilities and I think that's pretty neat. All of them have their uses and none of them are niche, which is a win.
The story was pretty interesting! Dropping in onto a mysterious island and trying to find a way back home is nice and simple and all the detail added around it make it engaging. The Archangels are wildly uncomfortable which I didn't expect and I loved it. Despite loving it, it still did come out of nowhere but greatly forgiven because it was right at the start (and not some random turn in the middle).
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The pacing was a bit off for me though because I got like 5 out of 8 song pieces before I even defeated 4 captains or even met all the partner characters. I also don't know how relationship progress works other than fight things and rest. Thinking about it now, there's probably a reason why there a speedrun timer in that you don't have to play through all the content (8/9 archangels, no captains?), I guess.
I liked the references to all sorts of topics throughout the story and I think it's pretty interesting for the characters to be from different timelines. It makes it easy to explain weird inconsistencies.
Funny thing I did by accident for end game's story: I switched out Meredith's Regensea with an Aeroboros cause I wanted her starter in my party. And boy did that choice bite back later lol.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Graphics are also solid. The 3D world with 2D sprites reminds me of Octopath Traveller. I appreciate the non-pixel portrait art for the characters, but I would've liked it either way. The designs of the monsters and the characters are all great! Honestly, I should take some notes from them since even if there's 15+ characters, they still all have very specific designs and personalities to match.
The detail in the world is great too, like the light reflecting off the puddle or the fog that rolls in and the rain. So like weather in general.
Also, as a note just for me, I liked the fonts and font effects that they used. Very cool.
Cassette Beasts is a quality creature-collecting game! If you need another Pokemon/Digimon/Persona, here's a game for you. Or if you just want a cool turn-based RPG with cool music, that's cool too.
As always,
Enjoy gaming!

Talking about my b/w experience below the cut :^) there is also a poll you can vote on at the very bottom!
Tumblr media
Still working on the post-game and catching a couple legendaries, but here's the final team I winded up finishing black with!! Stompy was such a tank <3 it was super surreal actually managing to finish a mainline game for once; I've never actually done so myself before (I've seen plenty of finished playthroughs, just nothing myself) since I would either get too burnt out and restart after a while or it was just a result of me being a kid that was too stupid to figure how how to progress. I'm very sentimental about the whole ordeal now.... and very excited to continue properly playing and finishing other games in the mainline series :^)
Tumblr media
Funny story about cobalion btw. Somehow I managed to catch it with my level 18 musharna who I'm SHOCKED did not die
Tumblr media
I think the moment that gave me the biggest shock was seeing reshiram's awakening. I had gotten a couple 3D dual screen cutscenes before which already wowed me, but this was something else entirely. Admittedly part of the reason I'm so sentimental. The inspiration I got from the art of it alone was insurmountable. I don't know what it is.... there's something so...... haunting, almost..... about dual screen cutscenes on the ds. Unsure if that's just a me thing. But I've always been captivated by this sort of stuff. The space between the screens occluding parts of the image creates the effect of it bleeding out into the real world almost; it's really cool. Audibly gasped at the eye close up
Tumblr media Tumblr media
There's a lot more I can say about it, including things relating to how much my experience contributed to me being able to properly flesh out my b/w trainersona. But I'll leave it at this for now :^) it was a great experience, truly
THANKS FOR GETTING TO THE BOTTOM! POLL TIME AS A REWARD!
As I've said, I still have a bit of post-game to play before totally moving on. HOWEVER! I'm currently trying to pick which game I should play next! Originally I had planned to move straight into shadows of almia (as it's my personal favorite pokemon game, one which I've beaten many times), but now I'm considering platinum, as that was my first ever childhood pokemon game (one which I also never beat). I'd like to list soul silver as well considering it was my second ever game...... but my only physical copy of that was on a pirated cartridge I got at a thrift shop that's since stopped working T_T and I'd rather play a physical copy than an emulator, so it'll have to wait

Probably not an unpopular take but one I feel strongly: Pokémon should release a side game instead of a new game next years holiday season. I want to see a new Pokémon Mystery Dungeon or Ranger or something!! Pokémon Colosseum and/or XD remakes would be veeeery cool.
i would LOVE a new pokemon ranger game!!! or maybe a game fully devoted to pokemon contests or something that would be awesome!!! mainline games are cool and all but the pokemon world has so much potential for creative game concepts

Aight. I've been sitting on this idea for MONTHS so apologies if it's not very exciting lol. I see a lot of requests for Champion/Gym leader S/O which are amazing and I love them BUT consider this; Poke'Ranger S/O with that 'disney princess' befriending Pokemon energy. They also have a knack for encountering legendary pokemon and disasters (possibly canon events??). I can only imagine their partner's stress X_X
gassssssp oh this is good shit
i can see it being like dating a park ranger in the sense with they're always coming home with "saw an apex predator today :D" kinda story and their poor partner has to be like "oh! how cool! :)" while also internally screaming because they're probably not making it to forty lmao
however, when they go out on dates into areas where the wild pokemon roam, their partner sees them in their element, at home in nature and with such an aura about them that of course the pokemon flock to them. they're strange but in a good way, in a way that makes even the largest mons want to give their hair a sniff, maybe a lick to the face if they're lucky
and sometimes that mon is god. and we learn they like tummy rubs.
good to know!!

For Woman's Day, i decided i draw Tory wearing and performing the showtimes in different attires based on a new game that's coming out on the Switch in a few weeks called Princess Peach's Showtime. So Tory is doing different Roles like Princess Peach does, we got her in detective, figure skating, a Ninja, a Mermaid which her Mermaid attire looks different even though it's the same as her color attire, which i bet it would be perfect to use the Mermaid attire for Mermay if she and her friends want to do a showtime with them. And we also got her in a Swordfighter attire which Tory has never sword fought before, i hope her Brother and her Best Friend will help her out. Especially if she's trying to act like she's playing Musketeers. And we have Kung Fu which i bet she would love her attire with all the flames. Then we have her Cowgirl attire which i bet it would be perfect for her anytime she wants to go up north with her dad and her brother when they want to go the Western style towns by the mountains. We got her Mighty Hero attire which looks just like what you expect the Power Rangers or Mobile Suit Gundam, as well as for being in one of those Saturday Morning Superhero Cartoons. We got her Patisserie attire which works a lot like a chef's attire like if anytime Tory wants to cook and be a chef and bake really cool treats and meals. And Finally we got her Thief attire which it's not use for the Pokemon Phantom Thieves, but it's just an actual Thief attire like if the Ramcats or their friends want to dress as Actual Thieves compared to the Pokemon Phantom Thieves, which it is the same category of when it comes to working as a Thief. And there you have it, all 10 of her costumes for her to perform a showtime. Tory 😺🩰: Wow! This is really amazing how i can perform a Showtime for Woman's Day! My friends including my family will love this! I'll see if i can have Lisa and the others to do a Showtime together with me and we can all dress up in different showtime costumes. Plus i bet my Mermaid attire looks nice and even my Figure Skating one, since my Figure skating does fit my ballet attire, which i'll try this anytime i want to figure skate, since i have never figure skated before. Happy Woman's Day Everyone! 😄

Yanno, I was talking to some of the lil ranger trainees back at the base (NOT avoiding my paperwork) and they were asking for tips. And like, why keep all the wisdom to the lucky few who get to be in my physical presence. The purpose of having a blog is to spread knowledge. Probably. So here's a quick list of things to keep in mind for new rangers.
Always carry a knife. This will come in handy in every situation. Fight? Knife. Some guy is stuck? Knife. Cool plant you wanna forage? Knife. Bored? Knife.
If you use a capture styler, always aim the disk directly at the centre of your target. Obviously your goal is to wrap circles around the pokemon without touching it, so aiming for the exact middle is your best course of action. I see new rangers do this all the time and I think yup. The kids are alright. Definitely not an idiotic move.
Sunscreen. I'm so serious about this one.
The dress code is a suggestion, especially if patrol starts before your base leader gets in. Just wear roughly the right colours and like, athletic wear and ur fine.
Hydration is important, but don't overdo it. If something goes wrong, like you get knocked out or killed or like. Electrocuted. Somehow. You will still piss your pants, but if you don't drink too much water you at least won't piss your pants a lot.
If you call in sick to work to go on a date you will get mocked relentlessly (by me). What, little lover boy was too in loooove to SAVE THE ENVIRONMENT. Grow up, you're a ranger you ain't got the time
Its annoying but you should keep your partner pokemon's pokeball with you at all times. Safety n stuff.
Operators are lovely and always looking out for us but also they are stuck at base and monitored by head office so sometimes you gotta cut comms.
You Aren't A Cop. Don't be a fucking snitch. Chill.
Number ten. Can't think of a tenth thing but it felt wrong to leave it at nine.
That's all. You're very welcome, baby rangers on rotumblr. This is all 100% amazing advice and will land you at least 2 maybe 3 rank ups if you follow it closely.

Choose Your Own Adventure, pt. 1
As a thank you for the 1000 followers, I thought it might be fun to do a Choose Your Own Adventure fic. I've got a starting prompt below, and each part will be followed by a poll where you, the audience, will pick what happens next. Each poll will only last 24 hours, so definitely act fast if you want your voice heard!
Each part will only be 1000 words, and my intent is to keep this GN.
For now, there are no warnings.
-
The late afternoon sun beats heavy on your back as you ride through Socarrat Trail. Despite the lack of trainers out today (not surprising given the overwhelming heat), it remains almost inconceivably loud, with heracrosses chattering and chirring up a storm to rival the sound of a hurricane.
Your eyes expertly scan the trail and off the beaten path, going along your typical route of inspection as a ranger in the area, double checking that no one is in any sort of danger and that nothing seems terribly awry. No fires, rock slides, or crazy damage from the inevitable pokemon battles that take place. The usual.
Everything seems typical, so with a relieved sort of sigh, you round the trail to start the return trek to the ranger station on the other side of the forest, eager to get back into the blessed air conditioning.
On the way, you ride close to the rock formation that sits in the middle of the forest. Several years back, before you joined the workforce, apparently some super strong pokemon was released from a cave within the stone, and no one had seen hide nor hair of it since. Or so said all your superiors over at the station. You’re pretty sure it was all hazing tauroshit.
…Pretty sure being the operative phrase, of course. It doesn't hurt to stick close by when you can, just in case some kinda cool Pokemon ever does appear.
In just a moment, you'll see the familiar chains that apparently kept the creature confined…or behind a door…or…whatever. That part of the story always changed, but one thing remained consistent:
Out of nowhere one day, a massive cry shook the ground for miles around the area.
When the rangers went out to check on the commotion, the cave had been opened, the seal broken, and everything inside…gone. They tried to track it, but other than signs of a battle and mussed up Pokemon prints left in soft earth, there wasn't much else. Anything that had been inside was well and truly gone, scattered to the winds that carried its far reaching cry.
"Son of a BITCH!"
The sudden shout startles you from your thoughts of unknown pokemon, and you quickly make your way toward it. It came from within or nearby the cave, probably some kids from the academy searching for treasure, as some inevitably do every year. Doesn't matter how many signs your team puts up.
"DANGER: ROCK SLIDES LIKELY
CIVILIAN ACTIVITY PROHIBITED"
It's one thing for you, a trained park ranger, to idle along just off the path from the cave. You're a professional afterall. Kids, on the other hand, aren't, and they're drawn to danger like teddiursa to honey. Without real protective measures like those in place around Area Zero, you and your colleagues are left to deal with fallout and infrequent calls for an emergency taxi to take folks to the hospital.
"Hello? Socarrat Trail Park Services here!" You call toward the sound as you approach the cave. "Is anyone in need of assistance?"
"Ugh, fuck," You hear a voice softly echo through the mouth of the cave before continuing more loudly. "No! No, it's fine! No need for help, thanks!"
You continue into the cave anyway, putting on your best Official Ranger posture and tone.
"That's good to hear. However, this area is off-limits to civilians, so I have to ask that you…"
As your eyes adjust to the dim light of the cave and you realize whom you're facing, your official façade drops.
It's been years, but you saw a photo of him not too long ago online.
"Arven Sada-Turo, is that you?"
Wavy, two-toned hair which partially blocks his sight, his bits of scruffy beard, and his stocky, built form face you.
The man sighs, wiping his hand on the back of his pants.
"Yeah, yeah. That's me. Listen, I, uh…didn't realize the area was off-limits or whatever." Probably a lie. There's signage everywhere. He should've seen it. "But I'll be outta your hair soon. Didn't mean to trespass. Promise."
"Wait, Arven. …Uh." Suddenly you feel awkward. This isn't easy to ask. "Don't you recognize me?" You draw closer to the little camping set up he seems to have built for himself in the cave. "Mesagoza Academy? We graduated the same year. Not that I blame you if you don't remember, for real! Geez, what's it been? Must be coming on almost a decade, yeah?"
Arven's eye narrows a bit as you approach, not trusting you immediately. But when he's able to take in your face a little better, his face relaxes with recognition.
"Oh… Oh wow! Shit, uh…" He fumbles for a moment, but he gets your name right first try, and you nod in affirmation. "Who'd have thought we'd see each other like this, yeah?" He laughs, gesturing around him.
Your expression quirks a bit.
"Yeah… What are you doing here? Like I said, this area isn't really meant for civilians, so…"
He straightens, the single eye you can see brightening. "I was foraging. See, I'm doing research on herbs for use in my café."
You're familiar with the place. Though you've never been yourself, you know Arven's face and frame from a photo of him outside the establishment back when the place first opened.
Massive Munchies: New Café to Open, Featuring Flavors of the Titans!
The article was accompanied by a photo of your current classmate, knelt down next to his Mabosstiff, both giving huge, goofy grins. No longer was he the awkward, broody teen of your school days. He was replaced instead by the impressive form in front of you.
"Research…on herbs?" You chatot back.
"Yup! The region has a rare plant, colloquially called herba mystica. Folks think they're legend, but they're not. Just super rare. I need to find a few more; see if I can get them to propagate… Anyway, I wasn't able to find any here, so, like I said, I'll be outta here shortly."
~~
What will you do? (link to the poll embedded in the text)
Challenge Arven to a battle as "punishment" for breaking the rules
Invite Arven on a tera raid as a potential method to find more herba mystica
Let him leave, promising to visit the café this weekend
Ask to have a picnic at his current camping set up
Ream him out for ignoring official signage

So I still don't have much to say about Hero 42 yet, but there is one, single detail I wanna mention, and that's based on the hero select screen.
Tumblr media
Now, if you somehow hadn't noticed by now, Overwatch generally sorts heroes alphabetically whenever needed. Note the Damage role starting with Ashe, Bastion, and Cassidy, then going down alphabetical order from there.
The two codenamed heroes, Venture and Space Ranger, also fit this sorting scheme. Venture is between Tracer and Widowmaker, and Space Ranger is between Moira and Zenyatta. We know that Space Ranger is just a temporary name used by developers, so don't expect her to stay there unless her final hero name still happens to fall between M and Z on the alphabet.
Applying this logic to Hero 42 though, we see them between Sigma and Winston. That make the range of first letters include S, T, U, V, and W. Now, this won't give us their final name either, but could give a hint to their codename, and thus some major part of their character. Some ideas include "Toxin" (noting their color scheme and resemblance to some old unused hero concept art), "Turtle" (hey I still stand by them basically being radioactive Bowser), or maybe even something as simple as "Spike".
Tumblr media
Also here's the best image I could find of this being. Saw someone also compare this design to an edgy version of the pokemon Chesnaught, which is funny considering that's what I'm using in my current playthrough of Pokemon X. Either way this is definitely my "big spiky shell dudes" era.
Maybe it's not surprising that this is the hero that captivated my attention so much out of the three early teasers, considering I am a Tank main and also just love this hero's design already from this little cartoony icon. My personal hope is that they are some sort of gnarly creature, since I feel like in a game with big cool robots and hyperintelligent moon animals, the lack of some kind of mutant monster dude has... I don't wanna say bothered me, but feels like a missed opportunity. Have this guy be some Oasis experiment gone rogue that's now going wild across the world or something. I don't wanna say outright to make them another Talon-aligned tank, since now we're swimming with those. I'm similarly not super keen on them being another Junker considering how many of those are also in that role, though it'd be an easy way to explain the "mutant" theory of mine. Consider that, if we count Ramattra as Talon-aligned, every single Tank added since OW1's initial release has either been part of Talon or a Junker, with the sole exception of Orisa. I won't deny they definitely fit the look of a Junker though, and there's definitely more to that style to explore, I just want a messed up bowser guy. or gal! we don't know yet! could even be another NB character! Diversity win: this giant mutant spike monster uses they/them pronouns too!
Anyways yeah this has been an exhausting weekend in the best possible way for being an Overwatch fan, so I'm gonna hold off on more posts unless someone asks for my thoughts on anything in particular. If you want a better recap of everything discussed at Blizzcon, I highly recommend the recent video on Master Ian Gamer's youtube channel, it's like 17 minutes long and covers almost everything of note for Overwatch 2's future from today's panel and from the opening ceremony.
youtube
I'm gonna go play more Minecraft now I think

Unown Adoption Spotlight!
It's time for another specific spotlight! Our newest spotlight is on Collins, the Unown C!
Collins was brought to us by the rangers, having been found in a hospital supply closet. There's a slight scratch along their back, but there's no sign of major issues!
Collins is a cool, caring cutie! They are fully trained as a service pokemon, specifying as both a seeing eye pokemon and emotional support! They've got a lot of work left in them and we would love to let them help their companions, person or pokemon!
Their Hidden Power type is Ice! They have a few favourite toys to snuggle with when sleeping, so Collins will be adopted along with their small Cacturn plushie, favourite C shaped fridge magnet, and small fleece blanket! They also will have their service pokemon sash with them, so don't worry about getting a new one beforehand!
If you want to have this little helper in your house, contact us! We're located just near Solaceon Town, Sinnoh, but we can get to most regions, so feel free to reach out!

nanami kento x reader, pokemon au, wc: 570
reader is a psychic gym leader and nanami is a ranger. next part will be a flashback to their past history. again, thank you to @strawberrystepmom for inspiring this au.
Tumblr media
You and Yuji return later that same night. Nanami had just finished his dinner when you appeared in the infirmary, Growlithe and Breloom in tow.
“Nanamin!” Yuji exclaims. “We’re back.”
“Yes, here they are.” You stay at the door while Yuji and the Pokémon venture toward Nanami. “Your pupil and Pokémon returned safe and sound.”
Growlithe mounts his front paws on the bed, head seeking Nanami’s touch, while Breloom hops up and lands between Nanami’s feet and tilts its head curiously. Nanami assures the Pokémon that he’s going to be okay before shifting his gaze to you.
But you’re not looking at him. Your expression suggests you’re thinking very hard about something while your eyes are fixed on Yuji. Nanami doesn’t like it one bit.
“Thank you.” Nanami’s voice grabs your attention. “I appreciate you looking after them.”
You bow your head briefly. “You’re welcome.”
Nurse Aurora appears behind you and enters the room to take away the tray with Nanami’s finished dinner. Yuji clutches his stomach when it growls and Nurse Aurora says there’s more dinner in the kitchen when he’s ready to eat. Yuji thanks her sheepishly.
“You and your Pokémon are free to use the gym’s facilities during your stay,” you inform the Rangers. “However, there are a few areas you won’t be able to access without a psychic Pokémon of your own.”
“So cool,” Yuji says. He looks at you with hopeful eyes. “Oh, I don’t have a psychic type. Can you still show me though? I’d love to see more of what Kadabra can do.”
“Maybe tomorrow.” You smile at his curiosity. “Today was a long day. You should eat and get some rest.”
“Right,” the boy agrees. His cheeks flush at your attention.
Nanami narrows his eyes at the exchange. He’s come to know Yuji as an easily excitable person, often swept away by new things that appear to be interesting and mysterious. You were no doubt both of those things and more so Nanami would have to keep a more careful eye on his pupil while they’re here. No more than two days is what the nurse told him.
“I’ll leave you to it, then.” You turn to exit the room, waving a hand over your shoulder. Nurse Aurora moves to follow you. “If there’s anything you need please let me know.”
Nanami and Yuji watch the two of you leave. Once your footsteps fade farther down the hall does Yuji turn back to his mentor.
“Nanami you should have been there!” Yuji is animated, using his fingers to gesture around his eyes. “She brought Kadabra and they did this thingy where their eyes were glowing when they used telekinesis. And did you know Zorua is a shapeshifter? I didn’t! She changed her form to look like one of the poachers and scared the heck out of them. It was so cool!”
Nanami nods along as he reaches to the side table where the nurse left a hand towel that had been soaked in hot water. Yuji pauses when Nanami lays back and rests his head on the pillow.
“Nanamin?”
Nanami closes his eyes and drapes the damp towel over them, willing the lingering headache to disappear. “Yes, Yuji?”
“How do you know each other?”
“We grew up together,” is all Nanami says.
“In Kanto?”
“Saffron City.”
“Oh,” Yuji muses. Then audibly perks up. “So you’re a city boy?”
“I will smack you.”

OOC
Gonna be answering this OOC, since there's a lot of blogs I want to shout out. This is far from a comprehensive list, as I decided to only do four for each category, but I hope it will suffice.
⭐: Who do you respect a lot as a member of the community?
@friendball-irl - My first friend in the community, and Tropius' adoptive father. I'm so happy to have met them.
@sneasedtomeetyou - The person running a lot of the stuff that keeps the community going, such as the pkmnirlevents blog. I consider them part of the backbone of the community.
@aerial-aceing-it - I don't see them around much anymore, but they were another of my early friends in the community. They and their characters are so much fun to interact with!
@ariadosanon - I don't interact with them a lot, but they've fostered a lot of stuff in the community through their events. I respect that.
🩹: Who do you want to give a hug to the most?
@water-pokemon-appreciator @blueflare7pkmn @goomyanon - The whole traumatized trio of Yinny's adopted children. They've all been through so much, and they all deserve lots of hugs.
@ballonleastadiumofficial - I'm not sure this kid has ever gotten a hug in their life.
📣: Who is someone you'd recommend new/other people to check out?
@whimsical-westbrook - A very new blog, as far as I can tell, about a trans girl who wakes up as a Buizel of her preferred gender. I'm absolutely loving it so far, and I'm really excited to see more!
@gotta-pet-em-all - A very lovely blog about a person with disabilities. Fluff's character is top-notch, and I really enjoy every interaction she has with Tropius!
@paldean-ranger-brandy - My personal favorite of the "topic expert" blogs, this blog is all about rangership and trees. I've learned a lot of really cool stuff about trees from this blog!
@piers-official - I adore this person's characterization of Piers and Marnie. They're really cool, interesting, and have a ton of personality!
There's far more I want to shout out, but I've had this ask open for an hour now, so I think it's best I stop here for now.
