Dentista en el Reino Unido: Guía Completa Para Acudir al Dentista en UK

Si vives en el Reino Unido, ir al dentista no iba a ser una excepción. Y si no eres de allí sino que vas a pasar unos días, meses o años acabarán surgiendo ciertas preguntas: ¿a cuál voy? ¿Por lo privado o lo público? ¿Es muy caro ir al dentista en Reino Unido?

Esa sonrisa no se mantiene solo con pasta de dientes triple flúor y un cepillo eléctrico de 1’5 voltios con cabezales intercambiables, ¿verdad? En algún momento de nuestra vida todo el mundo tiene que ir al dentista, por mucho que nos duela.

Vamos a ir respondiendo poco a poco a estas y más preguntas en este artículo acerca de ir al dentista en Reino Unido.

Dentista de la Sanidad Pública Británica (National Health Service)

Lo primero, hay dos tipos de dentistas: los que son completamente privados, que por supuesto son de pago, y otros que tienen firmado convenios con el National Health System (NHS, algo así como la Seguridad Social británica) por el que les permiten realizar algunos servicios. Se les reconoce porque en la entrada de la clínica tienen el cartel típico de la NHS.

Recuerda que debes darte de alta en un centro de salud si quieres recibir asistencia médica durante tu estancia si es a medio-largo plazo.

Lo que hay que hacer en cualquier caso es registrarse en la clínica del dentista como cliente o posible cliente. Lo mejor aquí es preguntar, solo te van a pedir tus datos y tu número del NHS, y luego rellenas un cuestionario pequeño sobre alergias, historial y demás.

Como consejo, decir que es recomendable que te registres en un centro que ofrezca tanto servicios públicos como privados. Así estás cubierto siempre pase lo que pase y todo en un mismo sitio.

Para poder discernir, estos son los servicios de dentista que ofrece el NHS:

Limpiezas dentales

Empastes blancos

Ortodoncias a menores de edad

Endodoncias

Coronas y puentes

Problema de las clínicas privadas: el precio. Es caro. Si hacemos números, aproximadamente sale por un 25-30% más caro que en España. Todo depende, claro está, del prestigio de la clínica del dentista, la situación económica de los pacientes, etc.

Una cosa a tener en cuenta si vas por lo público es que el precio es único. Es decir, imagina que tienes que hacerte una intervención y te cuesta £150. Si te la tienen que hacer en dos días no son dos veces 150, sino £75 en cada visita. Aunque tengan que derivarte a otro dentista, siempre que sea el mismo tratamiento.

Siempre tienes también la opción de llamar al 111 y que te informen de qué hacer en caso de urgencia. Hay algunos hospitales (como el King’s College Hospital de Londres) donde hay consultas gratuitas a las 8 de la mañana. Si te atienden te harán algo temporal, nada definitivo. Es algo para que alivie de forma temporal.

Qué Dentistas Españoles Puedes Encontrar en Londres, Manchester y Bristol

En efecto, en el Reino Unido puedes encontrar también algún dentista con atención en español. Es importante saberlo, siempre te quedas más tranquilo si entiendes a la perfección lo que te están contando.

Además así comprendes también sin problemas el tratamiento que tienes que seguir. Vamos a mirar un poco algunas de las clínicas que hablan español para que sepas adónde ir.

Dentista en español en Londres

Spanish Dentist London: una de las más conocidas, tienen dos clínicas en Londres, al norte de la ciudad. Los dentistas son españoles y ofrecen todo tipo de tratamientos. Su teléfono es 0753-857-3387, y les puedes escribir por mail: todosalud1@sistelcom.com

ODL Dental Clinic: Hay varios doctores españoles en esta clínica, como las doctoras Inés Frühbeck y Sara Cabrero o el doctor Enrique Rodríguez, así que la lengua no va a ser un problema. Mint Dental Centre: En esta clínica londinense se hablan cuatro idiomas aparte del inglés, entre ellos por supuesto el castellano, así que si estás cerca de la estación de Oval es una buena opción. Se les puede llamar al 020-7587-0100.

Anna House Dental Clinic: Está al norte de Londres y pertenece en parte al sistema del NHS. Te pueden atender en español, polaco y portugués. Hay un teléfono específico para la atención en castellano, el 020-8808-0080.
