I know Amazon isn't very punk–but given its chokehold on everything, kind of unavoidable at this point, especially if you're disabled and/or immunocompromised–and Etsy has its own set of problems, but if you need denim for patches and things or other types of fabric for crafting but you feel squeamish about cutting up perfectly wearable pants and such from the thrift stores, you can get fabric scraps from both sites for fairly cheap, even sometimes on prime. They tend to come from left over factory waste or independent fabric crafters and would otherwise be thrown away, so you're saving dye and sometimes synthetic/plastic fibers from leeching into a landfill and the environment. And Etsy claims carbon neutrality (an iffy claim in general, regardless of who's making it), and some Amazon shops also claim environmentally friendly.

You can also get leather scraps on both sites, which I have done for bookbinding projects. The only problem with that was that it was a grab bag of a pound of randomized embossed upholstery fabric, some in fairly equal sizes but some truly scraps. About two thirds of it was suitable for bookbinding, but out of that only half wasn't ridiculously ugly lol. Shouldn't be too hard to get fairly uniform denim scraps tho, especially if you're embroidering them into patches

[ID] an idea for the jewish anarchy symbol. the symbol is the star of david in a circle with an A in the middle. the first image is a digital version of symbol on a white background, the second is it on a pin i made zoomed in on and being held in my hand and the third is the same as the first but with an image mask over it to look like a button/pin [END ID]

design isn't final so if you have any cooler ideas Imk! i think it could work with just the anarchy symbol in the middle without the circle around the star too but my sharpie was bleeding too much for it to look good on my pin Imao

every time i think of a scene that doesn’t fit into the core narrative/meticulously whittled structure of my weird novella, i make a little note of it. jot it down, maybe write it in full and set it somewhere else. save it to a separate doc for safekeeping. generally good writing practice, good to save nice ideas to perhaps rework for other projects, turns of phrase that don’t quite fit but are themselves good, etc etc etc, sure yeah totally

but really. one day. one day i will make a secret second ao3 acct. burner gmail. indecipherably vague username. accessed only via a vpn. unaffiliated with me in every possible way. buried entirely. and i will write those scenes. and i will post them. and in one (1) book tour interview, i will say, precisely, “well, haha, of course, the editing process is always tough for me, i just hate getting rid of stuff, haha, so what i do is, for fun, i write and post, let’s say, b-sides :) just somewhere online :)”. and at last, i will know peace

Forearm Crutch Bag Tutorial

Hey everyone! I promised I'd make a tutorial as soon as I made the bag. This is what I came up with after a couple days of trying things out. The bag is around 6.5 by 6 inches, loops around the hand grip and also is secured to the main part of the crutch by a tube of fabric. I made mine reversible, with a contrasting lining and inside pocket that can hold a phone. I tested it out walking around with it, and it kind of threw off my balance if I put anything too heavy in there, but it could comfortably hold my phone, keys, a snack, and even could fit a water bottle.

If you would like to make one for yourself, check out the link to the tutorial I made, with images for every step! I'd say it probably requires about a novice sewing level--this isn't a great first project for someone, but is pretty beginner-friendly if you've sewn some things before.

Later this summer I will reopen my etsy shop and sell these there, but right now for a limited time I am happy to make a version of these for free, for mutuals and followers while I'm still in the pattern testing stage. If you're interested, dm me to discuss the details.
