CSI: Bobby
forensic scientist!robert 'bob' floyd
i can kill you in 70 different ways and not leave a single trace of evidence behind
bob floyd had always been fascinated by science. it was the art of discovery and learning. he loved all branches of the subject, but chemistry and physics were his favorites one was based in learning how things worked in the world. how things reacted to each other, with each other. and what they were composed of and how to break them down. the other was based on learning how the world worked on things. how those things reacted to the circumstances and conditions around them. biology snuck in at third place later when he got to ninth grade. and the human body was such a complex yet simple thing. a near perfect combination of his two loves. and then later his sophomore year of high school he went on a field trip to the local crime lab when his science class was doing a unit on DNA. and that is when he found his true love. forensics

After much deliberation, I have realized that I don't need so many "who is your divine father" tests? but rather, a test like "which god would your character be paired with?" because I like to add demigod children to the mix and do crossovers. For example, a typical Cullen-comes-back-years-later fic… if Bella had had some demigod child, who would she be with? The truth is that it depends a lot on each person's favorite god and their version of Bella. In the case of Marvel, it would be fun if it wasn't Tony Stark, but Pepper who had a demigod son. I'd lean towards Poseidon, because it would be fun if the Avengers expected a mini-duplicate Potts and he turned out to be a sarcastic, problematic boy or girl. And what about 911, which I have also thought about a lot? Sure, it was most likely Buck who had a little mongrel running around, (I have some ideas with an Iris daughter, or a fem-Percy Jackson) but it is canon that Kayla Knowles is Apollo's daughter and has a father mortal. An older, adult daughter of Bobby's would also be interesting. Maybe Athena, or, I don't know why, Demeter I do have an idea of a daughter of Demeter with Kyle Harmon, the son of Horatio Caine from CSI Miami Or a demigod in Teen Wolf. I have a lot of ideas about demigods here and you can ask me: -A daughter of Hades with Victoria Argent, Anastasia Argent, good relationship with the family, Chris knows that she is not her daughter but he loves her just the same, small that she pretends to be macabre but she is adorable. -Twin sons of Apollo and Braeden -A daughter of Ares and Kate Argent, fierce, stubborn, who hates her mother very much. -A little girl also from Kate, daughter of Zeus, Sapphire, younger than Allison, somewhat shy, sweet, but very mature -Cora returns to Beacon Hills with a wolf cub, her two-year-old daughter Eliana, daughter of Apollo. -A daughter of Athena, Olivia McCall, daughter of Rafael McCall

Also from a fandom POV it's such a shift! Less material from the source to work with. Fewer scenes to gif. Fewer character driven moments to use as a starting point for art/stories. Fewer minutes of dialogue to analyze.
Fewer chances for the show writers, directors, costume designers, lighting designers, actors, etc etc to play. To get weird and do something off the wall because why the hell not?
It's less for the original creators AND the fan creators!
I miss you filler episodes i miss you 20 episode seasons i miss you monster of the week format i miss you character development i miss you self contained episodes i miss you tv that isn't a long chopped up movie

I have over the last 5 months watched all 15 seasons and the immortality special of the original CSI. I have no plans to watch the reboot anytime soon so I thought I would info dump my thoughts, and if love to know how others feel. I will now present a very very long post with breakdown some quick thoughts on the seasons, more thoughts on most of the characters and a few ships.
Tldr: I really enjoyed CSI as a whole and I'm sad to say goodbye to a formula and some characters I've really grown attached to. ( And If there is a good Nick Stokes written into immortality fic please lmk)
Seasons:
I do think the early seasons the most fun/ light hearted, which feels weird to say when it literally opens with Sara investigating Warrick for negligence. I kinda wish I had blogged along or something so I could be more detailed in my response about them.
Like a lot of shows I think it really hit its stride in the middle seasons. If I had to pick a few seasons to watch it be 5-7. It also helps that I had finally gotten used to the lighting.
I think the 9- 11 stretch is too serious, don't get me wrong there were some bangers but overall not great
12-15 they were better and back to a little more fun, and I think the series kept its footing pretty well in its final innings. It was no golden era and I felt really bad that Catherine got demoted but I really enjoyed it. ( Well ok I really wasn' a gig harbor arc fan)
Immortality was a fine special, although I don't really feel like it stuck the landing. Part of that will probably become obvious when I talk about my character and ship takes but I also just felt the case could have been better. It's the freshest in mind, obviously, so I will say I really loved having Catherine and Grissom back and if anything I felt like it gave good closure for them and to a lesser extent Sara.
Characters( kinda in the order of their exit):
The lab rats: Bobby, Mandy, Archie icons every one of them. There is a world where Wendy, Hodges and Henry get their own sections but I feel like they would appreciate being in this group. Never pushed into too much melodrama their characterization, always great at their jobs. I would love to grab drinks with any of them
The cops: Brass will get his own sections but to summarize my feelings on all the others. They did their job and I love that for them. They almost never overstayed their welcome but they also aren't the reason I'm watching this show. The only two I would want to get drinks with are the should have been lesbian Sofia Curtis ( she almost got her own section but then i got lazy) and the best uniform in the business, the man, the myth, my man officer Mitchell.
Warrick Brown: My smooth talking gambling king. He was definitely missed after his death. While I didn't love his characterization in the greda Arc, I usually really enjoyed his dynamic with the team and his drive to the job. His death was the closest I came to stopping my watching. His skills with kids are underrated ( probably cause Nick and Catherine are so good) and I do have a say on top of all his intelligence and skills at the job he is so handsome. I think he might go a little too hard for me to enjoy getting drinks with him but I would still do it.
Gill Grissom: My second favorite Dr. Bug ( sorry no one can beat Jack Hodgins) he really is the smartest person on the show. You can always feel his passion for science which is lovely. While sometimes out of touch or oblivious he is usually incredibly kind. I liked his tie to the deaf community. You can pull the fact that he is Demi from my cold dead hands. In a lot of the ways he was the heart of the show and it definitely shows when he left. His relationships with Catherine, Warick, Nick and of course Sara were well developed. I would kill to get a drink with him just to listen to him talk science.
Riley Adams: she gets a section as it is rude for me to not mention a character who was in the credits but she's fucking white bread milk toast. Would not bother getting drinks.
Raymond Langston: I love his relationship with Robbins and I think he's incredibly smart. But I just think the show gave him way way too much too quickly. I mean just compare it to the fucking effort Greg put in to reach CSI or that as new CSI 3 there was a long stretch where Nick didn't get his own cases. I appreciated his complex background but he brought with him the Haskell arc which was just too fucking long and serious. I would get a singular glass of wine with him.
Catherine Willows: What a girl boss. And I mean that is all the best and worst ways. I really love her at her best but man some of her lows are just.. no fun. She is absolutely vital to the show's success and 9/10 times she is out there taking no prisoners and careing for her team. Just you know wish she hadn't shown her daughter a dead body or faked a crime scene with a new guy to name some examples. She could drink me under the table no doubt.
Jim Brass: While never my favorite character I always appreciate seeing him on my screen. Competent enough to hang with the scientist and still be a good cop. I appreciated how dedicated he was to his daughter but Just not personally my vibes. I would get a drink with him but uhh maybe make it non alcoholic cause it's unclear if he needs sobriety help.
Julie Finlay: She's sweet and very very good at her job. If she had come earlier on she might be one of my favorites just my top 3 was already filled. She brings a good balance back to the team, and she has a weird level of breaking and respecting the rules that I enjoyed. She very quickly had such a good dynamic with all the returning favs that there are moments I forgot she was so new. She's got big Bi & Poly energy. I know the actress wasn't coming back but I would've paid to see her interact with Grissom. Sad that she died off screen but also kinda glad they didn't end 15 with her completely dead. I would absolutely get drinks with her, probably mimosas despite my dislike for them.
Morgan Brody: eh shes fine. I feel like despite everything she still comes off as naive. I love her relationship with Eklie and Hodges but overall she left something to be desired. Nothing that I super disliked but I do kinda wish some of her screen time went to Sara or someone else.
D.B Russell: he was honestly a breath of fresh air, well until he wasn't. I think I just love Ted Dansion for one but also I felt like Russell was a beautiful balance between caring and professional. It was nice to have a supervisor who was actually kinda good at politics. I love that he actually cares for his kids and loves his wife ( although I was informed by my mother that he is divorced in Cyber). I do kinda wish the kept the bit where he laid on the ground as a body but mostly cause I found it way funnier than it is. I really hated the gig harbor killer arc and I felt like a large reason is it made him too serious. I would get a drink with him, but honestly I'd love to have a full meal with his family
Super Dave: what a lovable but weird dude. Genuinely a great example of how you can blend strange comments with kindness and consistency to create a great character. I would love to grab a drink with him.
Doc Robbins: What an honest man and in the running for the best M.E ( up there with Ducky and Cam). I'm glad he mostly stayed out of the drama and appreciated that he was always thorough, even when people were occasionally questioning his own work. Not kind to a fault but definitely empathetic. I would 100% grab a drink with him.
Now to the top 3, the best of the best, the ones who were in for the long haul.
Nick Stokes: Whether it's the sweet Texas accent and big bown eyes or the fact that he's the longest running main cast member I do think he is my favorite. Empathetic and kind, almost to a fault, he is also a man's man who can hold his own against the worst criminals. The show put him through the absolute fucking ringer but he still leaves with a smile on his face. Even when he clashes with other characters I feel like he resolves the problems better than other people. He definitely could have benefited from good therapy but I still love him anyway. His skills with kids are so nice and grounded in his backstory. Loved that he became the new big guy. Occasionally they try and paint him as a bit of a player but given he sleeps with like 2 women over 15 seasons it doesn't super add up. This is definitely the queer in me talking but he gives huge repressed Gay energy. Like a lot of his early arc is about graining confidence in himself. Not to mention, his relationship with Warrick and Greg are so filled with undertones and honestly let that man get fucked and some of his problems might go away. Anyway. So I guess more power to the actor for not coming back for even a cameo but I really really felt the lack of him in immortality. So If anyone knows a fanfic where he's there lmk I would read that shit in a heartbeat. Would get drinks with him, would die for him.
Greg Sanders: I love rave going lab rat Greg. I love the new CSI trying to prove himself to Greg. I love mob history author Greg. I mean he's got to be one of the most intelligent characters on the show- he's good at science and history- and it never makes him come off as rude or entitled. I think his shift from lab rat to CSI, whether intentional or accidental, is well built. He is criminally oh I mean so so so criminally underutilized in immortality. I dislike when he's angry and there are certainly episodes where he feels off but overall he's just so lovable. Disgusting hair choices but hey at least that was a consistent trait. His relationship with Nick and Sara throughout the whole show are really great and after 15 seasons they really do feel like they've been a team for 15 years. He gives Huge Bi energy so I would take him to a gay club for drinks and dancing.
Sara Sidle: You can call her a problematic fav all you want but she's a bad bitch and everyone should love her. She is so great at her job and she never lacks humanity. The show kinda lost track of her exact backstory at some point but I don't care too too much as she stays strong willed and passionate the whole show. Her will to never quit and iconic smirks will stay winning forever. I have thoughts on her relationship with Grissom but bottom line she knew what she wanted and got it. Her friendship with all the main cast, particularly Greg and Nick, is really lovely and shows how she has grown and changed over 15 seasons. Because I actually care about continuity I would not get an actual alcoholic drink with her but non alcoholic drinks aplenty would be had if I could meet her.
Ships:
Listen I don't have a real finger on the pulse of what ships are popular as this show finished airing 10 years ago and I was trying to not be super spoiled.
That being said
GSR: I'm not super into Grissom/ Sara ( side note I know the Internet was a different place 20 years ago but who picked GSR as their ship tag), but I'm also not against it. I think they have a big "match my freak" energy which is nice but. I don't know I just feel like by the end of it Sara could do better. Like she gave up the lab director for the guy who asked her for a divorce. I still think it's better than some other options just you know not like my otp. 8/10
Catherine/ Warrick: I think that the flirting was all fun and games and then if became too much. Let's be honest neither of them are built for committed relationships. Probably would have been better then whatever the fuck was happening with Warrick and Tina. 5/10
Catherine/ Vartann: its canonical and like they were fine I didn't hate it didn't love it. Probably better for Catherine in the long term than any other of her potential ships 6/10
Nick/ Greg: idk if this is super popular but it's my otp for the show. They seem like they bring out the best in each other. Nicks more clean cut natural could balance out the more chaotic ature of greg. Obviously with the era the show was made in I don't think that there tension was intentional but it's still there. From the name that chemical compound game to working together until the end of really think they would be great. 11/10
Nick/ Warrick: I had to mention for the just two dudes who have homoerotic tension energy but ehh Warrick dose really read straight to me in every other context. 3/10
Wendy/ Hodges: ehh they give straight white couple who should have just talked about their feelings. 4/10
Hodges/ Henry: is this a real ship? idk man, But it's an friends to enemies to lovers I would love to read. 6/10
Morgan/ Greg: ok part of this is the my ship bias( see above) but I did not like them together. Their flirting is not good, his anger at her kidnapping too extreme, idk I Just really feels like they operate in different levels. 0/10
Morgan/ Hodges: I actually thought this was really sweet and was super said they went with the parents dating thing. I think they understood each other on a really fun level and that they brought out the best in each other. I loved how supportive they were of each other even in seemingly poor decisions. 8/10
Finn/ D.B: I would assume that this is the popular het ship for the them but uhh D.B is so happily married and Finn ( much like Warrick and Catherine) doesn't really give monogamous relationship. 0/10
Finn/ Sara: 100% queer women projection but uhh just imagine post divorce Sara figuring out her identity with Finn and they try friends with benefits but then need more. 6/10
If you made it this far thanks so much for reading and id love to hear others thoughts as I do a deep dive into this show. I Will be reading plenty of fanfiction and may start CSI: NY to appease the new hole in my heart.

Honestly I just wanna say that I'm not a fan of the show. I tried to see the good part in terms of storytelling and characters but the show itself is pretty much at late CSI: Miami standards. There isn't a cohesive vision running the entire season, and the so-called "arcs" are barely bounces of two or three episodes. The choppy editing is so so annoying that I would rather watch compiled clips because fans pull out whatever they can find to make the show cohesive - and they do a great job.
Side note: That's why I was stunned by the directing and pacing in Sick Day, that was genuinely incredible work. (The writing is a separate issue)
I like what I see of the potential in the universe it's created and the characters, but the show itself isn't top quality now. Maybe they just don't know how to tell good stories for a long-running series. And that's okay! Let it go to a dignified end!
YES thank you!
personally I'm just stunned (and not in a good way) that they managed to scrape up a renewal for season nine, because as you said, it's definitely not top quality anymore.
I love the concept of the show, but frankly, others have done it better. Chicago Fire, for example, just closed out their thirteenth season. other procedurals, like Grey's Anatomy (21 seasons), NCIS (22 seasons), CSI (16 seasons), are even more successful, and even have successful spinoffs, because the concept is so interesting, and because they're willing - unlike 911 - to change things up. The cast isn't stagnant, the stories are fresh, the interpersonal plots run for more than an episode. that is the key to making this concept last, and 911 has failed on that front consistently since season 5 at the very latest.
even Buck's coma arc, which was the biggest shake up since the show began at the time, didn't last more than a couple of episodes. and the lessons learned from it? basically vanished with the first smile from a pretty girl right afterwards. straight back to the same old hamster wheel. nothing changed.
this is why I like that they killed off Bobby. it changes things on a fundamental level and introduces a new kind of tension to the show. watching the last two episodes of the season live as I did, there was a new kind of urgency for me as a viewer, because if they killed off Bobby, maybe no one was safe. I haven't felt that kind of urgency from this show since the tsunami.
but this is why other procedurals are so successful. because audiences are gripped by that tension and they don't want to turn it off, because they need to know who survives and who might not. this is what takes it from an interesting concept to a good show.
I'm rambling. the point is: not all shows are designed to run forever. let it go out with dignity, let it end on a positive note. quite frankly, there is nothing in this show that would justify, currently, further renewals. not unless the writing and production reach a MUCH higher calibre, and quickly.

I was reading @chronicowboy ' s post about Buddie from Bobby's perspective and it made me think about multiple POVs episode.
The same event/day from different perspectives. OG CSI did it and Leverage as well. And I'm sure there are plenty others.
Some semi-complicated emergency and we get a look at it from dispatch. Then the same event but from how Bobby saw it. And then another one from one of the victims. Some random firefighter from another house. Or if we are lucky, Ravi.
For this scenario I would not want either Buck or Eddie's POV but I would love to see them and their interactions through the lens of other people. People who know them well or just a little bit and who never have seen them before.
Oh, the possibilities.

The more time that passes the more I feel like I'm going crazy because I've never seen a show handle a main character death like this and it's driving me crazy. I'm supposed to believe Bobby is dead but like, why are there so many signs saying he's not? And if he really is dead, then I'm pissed about how they're handling it.
If he really is dead, why do it only a few episodes before the finale so that everything is rushed in terms of seeing the aftermath? If it's a challenge for the characters to face, why aren't we giving them the time to deal with it? They all found out through a rushed montage and they broke down and cried on their own in little clips. Eddie wasn't even in those episodes. Then we skipped 2 weeks? It would have been easy for them to pick up where they left off and shown that time in between rather than trying to stick to our real world timeline. Instead, they jumped straight to his funeral.
Im not saying that Athena and Chimney weren't handled well in terms of how they're feeling, but the acceptance felt rushed, tied up in a nice little bow so they could put him to rest metaphorically as they did literally.
Granted, there's 2 episodes left, and we could see more from them, but I doubt it'll be given it's due diligence for all of them. Then we'll time jump to season 9 as per usual and more time will have passed.
So, if it's real, why not do it as the finale like most other shows? If Tim had control over the story and it wasn't because Peter wanted to leave like Patrick Dempsey in Grey's, why not go out at the end so it felt more real?
Why drop little hints that he could be alive?
Bobby's speech about not wanting to "leave" Athena as apposed to not wanting to die.
Chimney carrying the cured rat out, which in any pandemic-escue movie/show would be a sign of hope and a cure.
Bobby being Catholic and his death happening at Easter during the time of resurrection
Not seeing his body at all-as he was bagged up, at the funeral, nothing. Most shows leave the actor in place to lay there dead afterwards, we only saw him collapse.
Why was the brass holding his body and refusing to release him?
The whole Brad plotline about the main character not being able to die
There's just too many signs that he's not officially dead, while we're all being told he is and it's driving me nuts.
I wish if he's really dead, they would have made it clear at the end of the season, everyone would have been together to witness it, and then we could pick up in season 9 in the aftermath to give each character their own time to process. What's the finale gonna be now?
For someone who made a creative decision to make his characters face something big and tragic for the first time, he's sure skipping most of it.
Maybe it's false hope and I'm being delusional, but why is this being handled so weirdly?
For reference, some MCDs on other shows I've watched in comparison(Spoilers for Grey's, CSI, Bones, NCIS, Alert: MPU, Chicago Fire, Teen Wolf, Arrow, and TWD):
Grey's Anatomy: George
Season 4 Finale/Season 5 Premier.
Left on a cliffhanger while making it clear he wasn't going to make it. Had at least half of Season 5 to deal with his death and they picked up right where they left off rather than doing a time jump.
Grey's Anatomy: Mark and Lexi
Season 8 Finale.
Time jump in season 9 but with flashbacks. Even though time has passed you feel like people are still going through the thick of it. There's no easy acceptance. Everyone's still dealing with anger and denial and are burying a lot of it.
Grey's Anatomy: Derek
Season 11, Episode 21
Honestly, this is closer to Bobby than the rest. He dies a few episodes before the finale and it happens in a car accident while he's on his own. I think Meredith and his sister are the only ones who know until after he dies when Meredith drops the bomb at the hospital and disappears. (I've only seen it once and I won't watch after he dies so idk everything)
I will say though, this was done because Patrick Dempsey wanted to leave the show, not because it was a "creative decision". We also see more in depth, extensive coverage on their grieving processes as per usual of Grey's.
CSI: Warrick
Season 9 Finale
Warrick is killed in the finale because the actor's contract was not renewed by CBS. But they still picked up right where his cliffhanger death left of in the season 9 premier and we got to see the aftermath and the hunt for his killer. I wish we'd seen more from Nick as his best friend, but Grissom's reactions and his speech at the funeral were just beautifully heartbreaking.
Because it was a procedural in the prime of cable television and relied on reruns, they didn't carry it over too much into following episodes outside of the occasional reference.
Bones: Sweets
Season 8 Premiere.
Again, a show that killed a main chatacter off in the beginning so they could follow the immediate aftermath and how it affects the characters, along with the hunt for his killer.
NCIS: Kate
Season 2 Finale:
Again, even though her death was a cliffhanger in season 2, we picked up where it was left off in season 3 with a two part episode to catch her killer and we got to see how the team members handled it, each seeing a different ghost/hallucinated version of her, a la Bobby, to help them accept her death(not just one person like with Athena). Makes me wonder if we'll see ghost Bobby again.
I could do others in NCIS, but I honestly stopped watching for the most part after Ziva and Tony left.
Alert: Missing Person's Unit: Nikki
Season 3 Premiere.
I've posted about this one because it pisses me off. Showrunner Carla Kettner seems to have the same attitude as Tim Minear and decided to kill off the number one character on a whim for "creative" reasons. She wasn't even in the episode, they used look-alikes and you never saw her face. It was so stupid to kill her off, especially after only 2 seasons. The longer the show runs, the more they keep scraping out anything that made it unique. I think they handled the boys finding her body really well, that was a tear jerking scene, but again, skipped ahead to them being mostly well adjusted. Their daughter didn't even seemed phased, like wtf?
Chicago Fire: Andy
Season 1 Premiere
This probably isn't classified as a major character death since he only had one episode but I would argue that because he was so important to the main characters going forward through season one that this counts. This show starts by watching House 51 deal with the aftermath of losing a fellow firefighter, friend, and family member and how that death affected their jobs but also their friendships, anger driving Casey and Severide apart.
Chicago Fire: Shay
It's crazy what kind of grip a character can have on the audience after only 2 seasons. I think that it was probably better she'd died early on as apposed to later because it probably could have pushed too many people away from the show if we'd had more time with her. Shay was an amazingly complex character and as much as I love Sylvie(I really do, she's my favorite) losing Shay hurt the show's quality IMO. Sure, she was lesbian representation, but she was also the most real and human character on the show. Watching her deal with witnessing a suicide and how that drove her off the deep end and seeing her crawl out of that hole to find her will to live and keep moving forward was soooo good. Not to mention they're whole baby plotline. Ugh, that was good storytelling.
Anyway, don't mind the tangent. Her death is probably the only one I've witnessed having such a profound and long running affect on the show. Especially after only 2 seasons. Kelly still mentions her a decade later. Putting that memorial on the door of 61 and then Kelly rescuing it later on when 61 is totaled? Insane by television standards. Way above and beyond with Shay.
Chicago Fire: Otis
Season 8 premier
Another one that ended the precious season in a cliffhanger and killed the character off in the premiere. Now, this one did both, it picked up right after the finale and Otis dies, but then it takes a time jump to where the house has kind of moved on. But the whole team is there to lean on each other when it happens which is big, even though Brett moves away afterwards, a la Eddie being gone. Plus we get to see her make the decision to come home and stop running from it. And Boden builds a memorial in an effort to recognize Otis and help Joe through his grief, being the one who took his death the hardest.
This one is very similar to Bobby's death, but I argue that Chicago Fire handled it better because one, it happened at the beginning of the season so that you had all of the time in the world to adjust to it as apposed to it being rushed at the end of the season, and two, Otis isn't the equivalent to Bobby. It'd be like them killing off Boden instead, so it doesn't affect the show the same way.
Teen Wolf: Allison
Season 3, Episode 23
Allison died one episode before the finale. You get one episode to see the fallout in the characters before the season is over. In the season 4 premiere, there is a time jump afterwards and everyone's still occasionally dealing with her death but Scott is the one most affected, similar to Athena, and Stiles deals with his guilt like Chimney.
The Walking Dead:
Too many deaths to count, and show where no one is safe. These deaths happen at any point in the season really, sometimes there's a time jump, sometimes it's not, and a lot have been main characters.
Game of Thrones:
Similar to TWD, lots of deaths, no one was really safe, but all of the deaths served a purpose(at least until the last season. Fuck season 8).

TV Show - CSI: Las Vegas
As mentioned in the last post about Dr. House, I felt like watching a crime series. The temptation was strong because Prime added the first three seasons of Rizzoli & Isles to its program. But I decided to go with CSI: Las Vegas because it's been longer since I last rewatched it compared to Rizzoli & Isles.
Right in the first two episodes, I notice a lot of details, and I might end up writing a lot about them. Let's see how long I can keep it up!
One thing that stands out right away is the age of the series. And by that, I don't mean a specific year but the aspect ratio, which is still in 4:3. 16:9 will come later, but I can't remember exactly when. I'm curious to find out.
Catherine Willows already shows character traits here that will later drive me crazy. I remember finding her very demanding in the later seasons. She always comes up with arguments to bend the rules so she can break them later. However, in the successor format CSI: Vegas, she becomes interesting again.
During the autopsy scene where Grissom and Nick help, you could see the eyes of the millionaire blinking. I always find such details interesting. Sometimes you can see the "corpses" moving their chests, the carotid artery pulsating, or a body part moving. If I remember correctly, some shots use a still image to avoid such mistakes.
We still miss important characters like Super Dave and Doc Robbins. But one person we see very early on is the firearms specialist Bobby!
I also noticed Grissom's mood during the dummy experiments, which reminded me why I find him so intriguing. He's a man of facts, and as the series progresses, he becomes less and less able to deal with society and its quirks.
Voices are another topic because we have two very distinctive voices right from the start, one of which stays with us. Holly Gribbs is voiced by Sandra Schwittau, who is the German voice of Bart Simpson, played by Nancy Cartwright. Nick Stokes (George Eads) is voiced by David Nathan, who is not only one of the most distinctive German voices but also the regular voice of Johnny Depp and Christian Bale.
I'm thrilled to be back in Vegas, to see how everything unfolds, what cases they work on, and what questions arise. Because I already have one question: Even though Warrick was overseeing Gribbs since she was new, no one asks what happened to the officer at the crime scene where Holly was shot. Sure, Brass was reassigned, but that's about it. I find it extremely strange. (Although I'm aware that this is used to show the tragedy surrounding Warrick's character!)
Otherwise, the first season is always the most interesting because this is where the series is still finding itself, and many things are still changing. There's a lot to discover and admire, especially when it comes to the development of the characters.
I'll also thoroughly enjoy all the special effects because many of them were created without CGI, and practical effects are still among the best because they are tangible and provide a sense of depth that CGI simply can't achieve. I know, it's a big debate, but it's like photography. Digital photography is great, no doubt, but that final step to achieve exactly what's possible in analog photography is still missing. It's not much, and I know both sides very well, but it's just that tiny bit that's still missing!
In the German version, when Nick talks to Sanders, it's briefly mentioned or asked if Sanders is already playing the "Football game on Dreamcast." Once again, it shows that someone involved in writing the dialogue didn't have a clue. That always annoys me. Either video games look terrible in movies/shows, or they mix up everything and leave out details.

Rewatch of Only Murders In The Building to prepare for season 4 (II)
<Part I> Block #OMITBRewatch if you don’t want to read notes that will have spoilers up to seasons 3. Just to make it clear, while quoting, I use M, O, C for the main characters.
S1 E5
C: "You're a simpleton." O: "Damn it! I didn't get that! Can you call me a simpleton again?" C: "You're a simpleton." O: "Thank you!"
Oscar and Mabel meeting again! ... but certainly there could have been better ways than creepily following her in a bright hoodie. Well, at least it wasn't a black hoodie.
It is so cute how Charles wants to believe in Mabel. He is right though, but it certainly does not look like Mabel is innocent that moment. She is after all driving away with Tie-dye Guy.
New York traffic looks like hell.
Again, it's great that Charles wants to believe in Mable and Oliver is like "it has to be her!"
Oscar: "I saw you once with those guys that look like retired cops. Was one of them that Brazzos guy?"
O: "Search 'Charles-Haden Savage fat.' Ooh! Look at the ass on papa."
The car is really beautiful though.
So, why did the first call go on voicemail and the second one not? Didn't Mabel had reception? But why did Charles? ... shouldn't they all use the newest iphones?
O: "It's tough... to believe that she could be... this duplicitous, I know. Tougher because you're a closed-off person. And Mabel made you... open up and trust people for the first time. So now, the thought that she might not be who she seems has you questioning it all." O: "Okay, I gotta try that again. That was very fake sounding." C: "You fucker!"
Yeah well how could you have missed that, Mabel? You were sitting on the floor, surrounded by jewelry.
Charles and Oliver really are besties.
Lucius: "Sure I follow people all the time." - ... it surely will be fine...
Honestly though I celebrated Roy Wood Jr. having a small role.
Love how the two black guys show off to the two white guys.
Also I respect Oscar's dream of starting a Yoga-studio.
The scene in the tattoo shop is great... confusing and everything is happening at the same time.
S1 E6
Detective Williams... got it.
"Herman's Head" sounds like "Inside Out" ... I never saw " Inside Out."
The scene of the Detective and her wife is really good. Because the detective is a great character. She gets so many plus points later on. She might be one of my favorite characters.
Whoop Dee Doo, Mabels Mom
Mabels Mom: "Have you ever felt that there was something you screwed up so bad, you will never fogive yourself." C & O: "... well...." Mablels Mom: "For me it was letting her spend time at the damn apartment. Please let her be. Let her move forward. Not back."
Okay but maybe Mabel needs that as a closure?
M: "Don't do Tik Tok." <- Good advise for anyone!!
C: "You know it's a law of nature. Nothing good ever happens on Long Island."
You might not know each other a lot but you are still best friends, Charles and Oliver.
Mable had a crush on Stabler from CSI: SVU... i've watched a few episodes but I don't remember much.
M "Why was Tim after the ring that Zoe had on the night she died?"
Now I remember what happened. Sometimes it just takes some time.
Gotta say that the romance between Oscar and Mabel is cute... even if tragic. They liked each other before the whole awful thing happened.
Really... Jimmy Fallon shout out for the podcast. Everyone will go listen to it.
Teddy is hardcore... good character but holy shit.
O: "You know my phone settings... I am not a rando!"
They are besties!
Food is really the best peace offering.
M: "But you guys... Are you really gonna make me say it?" C: "I kinda like to hear the words, yes." O: "Also rank us. I'm dying to know who your favorite is."
It's Charles, Oliver. Mabel likes Charles more.
It's Tim Kono's phone!
C: "That is right, our prime sponsor is now our prime suspect."
S1 E7
Gosh, it's so sad and weird that Bobby tries to make Theo listen to music.
Because I was curious I looked up "Carousel" and it's a musical by Rodgers and Hammerstein.
"My boy Bill, I'll see that he is named after me!"
"And you won't see nobody dare to try-- to boss him or toss him around. No pot-bellied, baggy-eyed bully will boss him around--"
The moment Bobby realises that he did exactly that to his son that moment.
And continues to do so.
I actually love the different perspectives... from Theo's point of view everything is muffled... and then he talks with the watchers. XD I'm just glad they translate the important parts of the ASL.
The whole episode is great because almost nothing or nothing is said?
Teddy is still bullying his son.
Teddy: "If there is a problem, I'll fix it."
I guess Zoe really was a troubled child...
"Scary" - "Sexy" - "Hard" - "Wet" - "Woody" - "Yum"
How to flirt with scrabble?
"Teddy is a Gray Roger!" - "Are you having a stroke?" - "Grave Robber! Teddy is a Graverobber!"
It was all an accident.
O. PUTNAM & MABEL - 78 Messages O. PUTNAM - 11 Missed Calls
I love that Charles has Oliver as O. PUTNAM in his address book.
Uh Oh.
S1 E8
Love that Jabouki Young-White is also having a part.
O: "Do you know that I was the first director to use areal cadaver on stage? In Tuesdays At Bernie's. It was my dual adaptation of Tuesdays With Morrie and Weekend at Bernie's." M: "What?"
Yeah, Teddy. I'm sure the deaf son was more responsible for the failing of your marriage than all the whores.
Lmao, Jen is a freak.
Jen: "Brazzos was our safe word." M: "And what's the safe word for me to get out of this conversation?"
LMAO... Detective Williams is so cool.
Incredible that Jen and Oscar get added to the roaster and then the fans too.
... it was not the Dimas'ses
I think I now remember who it was... though I though she was the one who did it in season 2? I got it all confused... that is why I need the rewatch. xD

Happy Six Sentence Sunday! It’s been a while, hasn’t it? I’m sneaking this one in about an hour and a half before Sunday ends for me 😅 and to show what I’ve been working on:
For starters, the CK AU interlude has thrust itself back into the forefront of my mind given the new season. As @avatarskywalker78 said in their Six Sentence Sunday, spite is a powerful motivator, and I’m keen to finish this so I can get to the other two movies and then fixing the show itself 😂
So here’s a bit from that fic:
More to the point, when the other Cobras stole her crutches, Jimmy just glared at them. Sometimes with a calm, “I think you should give the lady her crutches back.” Most of them laughed it off, but a couple of them went pale and did as he said. Sam glanced at him, confused, and he shrugged. “There’s benefits to being the quiet one, you know. You get pretty good with your glares…and you saw me fight at the All-Valley, just like they did.”
She conceded the point—Jimmy was a fiercer opponent than most people gave him credit for.
Getting closer and closer to her and Johnny properly interacting in this fic…👀 it’s coming! But in the meantime, Sam has some sweet bonding moments with first Bobby and now Jimmy.
Also ofc the Barry POV fic has been steadily chugging along:
Iris nodded, smiling slightly. “I really am glad you told me, you know. I would’ve hated finding out by accident or something.”
“Maybe if you touched my hand and I shocked you,” he joked.
“It’s funny you mention that,” she replied thoughtfully, “because…when you were in a coma, that actually happened. I touched your hand and felt a jolt of electricity.”
“Really?”
“Really.”
“Huh. That’s…that’s something.”
(Yes, I’m throwing shade at how Iris canonically found out, what about it ✋)
I only have another scene or two to write for that before I’m done…then I’ll have to do some editing, and then I’ll be ready to start posting!
Also the CF AU reunion fic:
“Come on! You still have to drive me to work…and then put up those posters of yours.”
Oh, right. He’d almost forgotten—while CSI training was ongoing, Barry had decided to take up tutoring to maintain a steady income. Just a few subjects, in the middle-to-high-school range, and hopefully he wouldn’t get more than a few calls.
…he was being generous, really—he’d be lucky to even get one. He was hardly the only tutoring service for that demographic…and far from the most highly recommended, considering he hadn’t even tutored one student yet.
“Barry! Come on!”
“Coming!”
This is me setting up for how Barry and Morgan meet again 👀
And in addition…I present the beginnings of the Daddy Issues AU, the first fic of which I hope to have finished by next week (and this is a firm deadline btw, because it’s a birthday present…though I have a backup plan if that doesn’t work out):
Barry trudged into Dr Wells’s house determined to hate him, and determined also to hate his mysterious daughter—the key factor in him being allowed custody of Barry. He pictured a girl, apparently younger, annoying and bratty and loud. Anything that could help him hate her—anything could help him hate this.
Except...
Except she wasn't any of those things.
Oh, she was loud. Very loud, enough that Barry recoiled with a sharp wince when he first heard her cry.
But she...she was a baby. A year old, according to Dr. Wells. A whole 10 years younger than him.
He tried to deny how his heart swelled three sizes, how his immediate instinct upon hearing her cry was to ask her what was wrong.
Aren’t they so cute already 🥹 I adore my sweet siblings
Taglist (send an ask or DM to be added or removed):
