The set of screenshots from The Tunnel made by @too-many-rooks and especially the thought of the (undercover) rent boy River got me pondering... What if Isobel hadn't dropped River at her parents, just continued to drag him along like unwanted baggage or leave him with random people until he finally ran away from one of her abusive boyfriends... And then I remembered the arrogant Freddie Baxter from Cucumber, squatting in an abandoned house (if my memory doesn't fail me) and having casual sex with partners of all kinds... River could definitely end up as one of his roommates.

UPD: and if he doesn't work as a rent boy, maybe he steals cars in this AU, like he does (rather effortlessly) in the fourth episode of the first season. Anyhow, he's about to mix with the wrong crowd :)
