Green Velvet Cupcakes Recipe
By Lisa Maliga, copyright 2017-2025
Get ready for St. Patrick’s Day with these delectable green cupcakes topped with yummy cream cheese frosting.
CUPCAKE INGREDIENTS
2 large eggs [room temperature]
1 cup sunflower oil OR vegetable oil
1 cup buttermilk
1 Tablespoon white vinegar
1 teaspoon pure vanilla
1.5 Tablespoons green gel food coloring
2 1/2 cups all purpose flour
2 cups sugar
1 1/2 Tablespoons cocoa powder
1 teaspoon salt 1 teaspoon baking soda
Makes 24 cupcakes
Oven temperature: 350 Fahrenheit/177 Celsius
CUPCAKE DIRECTIONS:
Preheat oven. In a large bowl, whisk together eggs, oil, buttermilk, vinegar, and vanilla. Then stir in food coloring. In a separate bowl, whisk together flour, sugar, cocoa powder, salt, and baking soda. Slowly whisk in the dry ingredients to the egg mixture until completely combined. Pour batter evenly into cupcake liners. Bake for about 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean. After about 10 minutes, remove from pans and cool completely on a wire rack.
Cream Cheese Frosting
This cream cheese frosting is easy to make and tastes different from vanilla buttercream. As cream cheese is softer than butter, you might want to take it out of the refrigerator a few minutes before making the frosting – especially if the weather and/or your kitchen is quite warm.
FROSTING INGREDIENTS
1/2 cup unsalted butter, room temperature
8 ounces cream cheese, room temperature
2 teaspoons vanilla
2 1/2 cups powdered sugar
Dash of fresh lemon juice
FROSTING DIRECTIONS:
Beat softened butter and cream cheese on medium speed for about 3-4 minutes until completely smooth and creamy. Add the confectioners' sugar, cream, and vanilla with the mixer running. Increase to high speed and beat for 1 minute. Add the lemon juice and beat until thick and creamy.

Tig character hcs except this time it’s not their kids and just them!!
- I just KNOW the hawthornes made vines, and then Nash would have to be the one to edit and record them all 💀💀
- max used to make taylor swift music videos and then have her brother record them (yes, she has a brother that’s mentioned like once in the first book 💀💀)
- Avery is taller than libby by like 🤏 much
- Jameson “hates” cats but pets every cat he sees
- Libby used to make baking tutorials when she was 12
- Xander met maxs parents once and then was traumatized by them ever since (he’s scared of them)
- grayson has a 7 step skincare routine
- Xander once tried to surprise tackle nash but accidentally gave him a concussion so he was banned from doing that for a couple months 💀
- avery and Jameson have movie marathons that consists of eating Libby’s desserts and binge watching classics (or horror movies)
- grayson has a light blue skincare fridge
- when xander was little he tried to smuggle candy so he could eat it late at night and then they got maggots living in his room after that 💀
- Tobias was soooo mad
- libby has fed more cupcakes than she would like to admit to tiramisu
- thea used to have “fashion runway shows” in her bedroom, which meant wearing 748248 different pieces of clothes ontop of one another, and somehow managed to convince little xander to do it with her
- he still has the photos to haunt him to this day
- Grayson will NEVER EVER EVERRR admit it, but he likes rom coms. So sometimes, when it’s late at night and everybody else is asleep, he will binge watch a romcom or two. It’s his guilty pleasure and as much as he pretends to hate them and gaslights himself into thinking they’re cringe, he still loves them
- Rebecca never really got much attention from her mother, but sometimes Tobias would spend the day with her and show her cool puzzles. She would always look forward to those days, as it’s the one time she doesn’t have to worry about pleasing Emily (💔)
- Nash definitely had a girlfriend when he was 13 and when they broke up he started wearing all black and turned emo for two weeks. When his little brothers started catching on and asking Tobias what happened, he would just say “nash is going through a phase 😇”
- before Jameson learned Latin, he learned all the bad words and then started saying them to EVERYBODY (Tobias shut it down pretty quickly, but then they had to actually learn Latin so there wasn’t much Tobias could really do about it 💀)
- max almost died once because she decided to go ham on the pills that her parents had on the top cabinets
- Avery watched every single chipmunks movie about a million times because her mom used to think they were HILARIOUS
- when Gigi was little, she was sooo clumsy and would break everything, so it got to a point where even when Savannah would accidentally break a vase or something gigi would still get the blame for it 💀
- Grayson chased Jameson around the house with a knife once
- when they were little the Hawthornes would take April fools sooo seriously, which meant multiple things exploding, whipped cream being thrown in peoples faces, and just so much more chaos
- xander was a slime kid when he was little. He would have sooo much slime and would be constantly making it, and he also tried to do those “making slime without glue” things 💀
- when Avery was born and Libby saw her as a baby, she was so happy and was crying because she’s always wanted a little sister 💖💖:(
- max had a dream one time where Xander cheated on her so she called him crying at 2:54 AM while being half asleep and shouting about how he could do this to her
- she hung up not long after that and went back to sleep, but when she woke up she realized it was a dream (she still gets made fun of for it by xander to this day)
- xander asks libby if she can make him blueberry and lemon scones because they’re “better when she makes it” 🫶🫶
- when Rebecca and Xander were little, they tried storing WILD ANIMALS under xanders bed because they wanted a zoo 💀
- one of the animals ate through the walls, so that’s how Tobias found out
Okay I think that’s all!!! Lmk if u want me to do more, bc it’s actually rlly fun lmao

Guys I made cupcakes for my girlfriend’s mom’s birthday party today and it was my first time making homemade frosting and using a piping bag to decorate!
Tumblr media
I used this recipe by Abeer Rizvi at CakeWhiz for orange buttercream but added just a bit more orange extract for more citrus flavor, and it came out pretty dang tasty. Six drops of orange gel food coloring got it to the exact color I wanted! It is nice and creamy and was easy to decorate with. And I had this tutorial video by Wilton on hand to learn how to set up and use a piping bag. (PS shoutout to @ordinarytalk for gifting me a set of bags and tips along with other baking stuff a whiiiile ago! Couldn't have done it without them!)
Tumblr media
I know they don't look like, pro or anything, but I'm pretty pleased with how they came out! With some extra green and yellow sugar on top 'cause we're doing a kinda tropical theme. :D
(Now here's hoping the actual cake tastes good too, but I did the thing where you sub butter for oil and milk for water and add an extra egg to a box mix and that's worked out well before so fingers crossed!)

Crochet corner
I'm back with my yarn babbling again, this time because I want to distract myself from thesis writing OTL
My current scarf project is still ongoing and I left it at home so I can't show any progress pictures since I'm in my dorm again (and I forgot to take some when I was still at my parents place), so I will talk about my past projects.
And when I say past, I mean past, as in I will go back to my crochet roots. You're getting my fiber artist history hot off the keyboard folks, so strap in and enjoy the ride.
Back to the beginnings
My crochet journey started way back in primary school, where tiny baby Lix made a small square creature in craft class. Basically we crocheted a square (easily done with single crochets, can be achieved by tiny people) folded it in half, sewed together the edges, stuffed it with cotton fluff stuff and sewed it shut. Put on some eyes, a nose and mouth plus fake fur as hair and hurray you made a square creature! I actually kept that thing for years, it was chilling on our radiator like a wonky guardian until it eventually got lost or thrown out (I can't remember which). I remember that the stitches were surpisingly neat for my age, which past Lix apparently couldn't replicate for years. Primary school me had talent... (unfortunately I don't have a picture of the wonky square creature or I would have showed you guys)
Deco for the win
While I did try once or twice to get back into crocheting again it never really worked out until! My mum found this website: Drops-Design. A German (?) website for knitting and crochet patterns (and lots of other stuff). She showed me some cute cupcake and coffe cup coasters and asked if I could make them. Past Lix - like current Lix - was filled with false confidence and answered with: "Yeah, sure I can try." So, my mum ordered the yarn over the website and my crochet adventures started from anew.
Fortunately for my sanity the patterns my mum asked for had video tutorials attached, otherwise I would have been utterly fucked, since I have never read a crochet pattern in my life. With the help of the video, the coasters were relatively easy to make even when I was confronted with unknown stitches and multiple colour changes. The end result didn't look nearly as nice as what the website showed but for my first few tries I was satisfied.
Once again I have no pictures available but if you want to take a look at the pattern it's here. There you can also see the finished product.
From this point onwards I started going nuts with making deco shit. All differnt kind of flowers, stars, snowflakes and bunnies. That site opened the crochet door for me and I was happy as a clam.
Granny square madness
However, times were changing once again, when my dear friend got me some yarn for Christmas.
200 g of yarn.
With colour transition.
I only ever used solid coloured yarn before and was at a loss of what to do with this gift.
And what else to do when lost in the yarn world, then look at youtube for help. Spoiler: Youtube helped tremendously as it introduced me to the glorious invention that is granny squares.
Granny squares are fun shit, they come in all kinds of different patterns and colours and you can make lots of things with them. I watched a simple tutorial on youtube and got hooked. I used my friends gift to make granny squares only to be confronted with another dilemma: What to do with those granny squares? I got max 20 squares out of these 200 g and let me tell you my dudes, that's nothing for a bigger project.
So I simply went absolutely batshit crazy, for I decided to make a patchwork granny square blanket.
Please let me remind you people that before this lapse of judgement I only worked on small projects aka things that I made in one day tops.
Once again I follow my motto: Go big or go home and ohhh boy did I go big. I went gigantic and here is proof:
Tumblr media
That badboy is the definition of patchwork because it's made up out of FOUR different types of yarn, since I have run out of yarn SO MANY TIMES IT WAS RIDICULOUS! I needed to rebuy yarn at least five times, I was going insane. This project took me over half a year if not longer and weaving in the ends- *shudders* horrible, dreadful, hated every minute of it.
But I like the finished product, it's now chilling on my coach at my parents place, not really used all that often but still pretty.
I didn't stop with the granny squares after that clusterfuck though. Nooooooo sire~ I made a shitton of other granny square projects since I like to suffer (none of them as big as my blanket however, thank the outer gods).
Well, I certainly rambled enough for one post, I will be back with other projects in the future!
Toodles~

I know this is like a shot in the dark but I’m getting desperate and reddit was mean lmao.
So for about 5-6 years now there was a sugar cookie recipe video that i used religiously. Like this was my favorite sugar cookie recipe ever and used it for any occasion i could cram a cookie into.
Valetines day? Bam! Heart shaped sugar cookie. Christmas party? Bam! Festive sugar cookie. Intramurals at school? Bam! Sugar cookie in the color and theme of my grade level.
I loved these cookies so much, but heres the problem. The last time i made theses cookies was back in december of 2019 and since the whole pandemic happened I have not made it. During this time I made my own youtube account leaving my shared account to my brother. So a lot of channels i used to subscribe too didn’t transfer over and my brother obviously unsubscribed from channels he didn’t want to watch. And now this year I want to make sugar cookies for my college friends but I can’t find the fucking video and its driving me mad.
I have tried everything. From endlessly scrolling yt to filtering my google searches via years to downloading an extension to search through my liked playlists and trying to find away to view what channels you unsubscribed from.
So here I am now throwing out a hail mary call into the void in the off chance that someone knows the video or channel im talking about. I am currently scrounging what little bits and pieces of memory that i have to give you the best description i could muster.
The yt channel is a baking personality channel. Think how to cook that, rosanna pansino, or my cupcake addiction, its within that realm. It was a fairly medium-big yt channel. The sugar cookie recipe was a plain vanilla sugar cookie with a vanilla royal icing. It is a no chill roll out dough and the royal icing is made with egg whites. It is a top down shot yt video that mostly shows the hands while baking (think tasty but longer and with narration). I think the video was also giving a tutorial on flooding icing and outline icing(?). I also think the shape of the cookie was the standard round cookie, but i could be wrong.
I know this is a long shot and that I don’t have the best descriptive factors for the video (No need to tell me that, the baking subreddit was already very mean about that so I took my post down cause it was just bullying atp). But in any chance that you do know the video or the yt channel im talking about please dont be afraid to pm me or reply/reblog this post.
I have been searching for this recipe since late October and it has caused me a few tears.

How to make miniature sweets Part 5:
youtube
There weren't any spoken steps to this video unlike other tutorials, those the style used in this tutorial was pretty simple to understand.
Macarons - rounded ball of clay of desired colour, flattened and for texture on the edges they used a needle to make small indents. For the cream they just flattened white clay into a circular shape and placed it in the middle.
Donuts - same technique at the beginning but instead used tan clay and cut a hole in the middle with a straw, and added "icing" by cutting a different colour of clay into the desired shape they wanted and put it on top of the donut.
Swirl cake - Two different colours, one - anything, the other - white. Rolled into a cylinder shape and then flattened, placing the white on top of the other colour, cutting the excess of for sharp edges, then rolling it into the swirl shape and flatten the sides. They then used a toothbrush or something similar to create texture on the sides, and added cream to the top by taking white clay and rolling it into a smaller stick and twisting it for the spiral shape and then did the same when putting it on top of the model.
Cupcakes - the bottom was a tan clay, rolled into a cylinder and the top shaped upwards to look like it is rising up. For the icing, they took another colour shaped it into a ball, flattened the bottom of it making it look like a dome and then stuck it to the tan bottom. For extra detail they used the same cream technique for the swirl cake.

Get Your Brand Noticed: Discover the Types of Marketing Channels
In today’s competitive business landscape, the right marketing channels can make all the difference in getting your brand noticed. Whether you are a startup or an established business, understanding and leveraging diverse marketing channels can significantly impact your reach, engagement, and conversions. Let’s dive into the key types of marketing channels that can help your brand stand out.
1. Digital Marketing Channels
Search Engine Optimization (SEO)
SEO involves optimizing your website and content to rank higher on search engine result pages (SERPs). By targeting relevant keywords, creating valuable content, and improving site structure, you can drive organic traffic to your website.
Example: A local bakery optimizing for keywords like "best cupcakes near me."
Social Media Marketing (SMM)
Social media platforms like Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, and Twitter are essential for connecting with your audience. These platforms allow for paid ads, organic posts, and user-generated content to build a loyal community.
Pro Tip: Leverage reels and stories to engage with younger audiences on Instagram.
Pay-Per-Click Advertising (PPC)
PPC campaigns, such as Google Ads, ensure that your brand appears in front of potential customers searching for relevant products or services. This channel is great for driving targeted traffic quickly.
Example: A travel agency running ads for “affordable Europe tours.”
2. Traditional Marketing Channels
Television and Radio
These channels remain effective for mass-market products. A well-designed TV commercial or catchy radio jingle can leave a lasting impression on consumers.
Example: National brands like Coca-Cola often use prime-time TV spots to maintain visibility.
Print Advertising
Newspapers, magazines, and brochures still play a significant role in reaching specific audiences, especially in industries like real estate, hospitality, and education.
Pro Tip: Combine print with QR codes to bridge the gap to digital.
3. Content Marketing
Blogs and Articles
Publishing high-quality content on your website not only improves SEO but also positions your brand as an industry expert.
Example: A fitness brand sharing workout tips and nutrition advice.
Video Marketing
Platforms like YouTube, TikTok, and Vimeo are perfect for sharing tutorials, testimonials, and behind-the-scenes content. Video marketing is highly engaging and fosters trust among viewers.
Pro Tip: Use captions to make your videos accessible to a wider audience.
Email Marketing
Email remains one of the most effective channels for nurturing leads and driving repeat purchases. Personalized campaigns and newsletters keep your audience engaged.
Example: An e-commerce store sending exclusive discount codes via email.
4. Experiential Marketing
This involves creating memorable brand experiences for customers, such as pop-up events, live demonstrations, and trade shows. Experiential marketing helps forge emotional connections with your audience.
Example: A tech company hosting a hands-on event for customers to try their latest gadgets.
5. Influencer Marketing
Collaborating with influencers can amplify your brand’s reach and credibility. Influencers bring authenticity and help you tap into niche markets.
Example: A beauty brand partnering with makeup artists on Instagram.
6. Referral and Affiliate Marketing
Encourage your existing customers and affiliates to promote your brand in exchange for rewards. Word-of-mouth and affiliate programs are cost-effective channels to acquire new customers.
Pro Tip: Use tracking tools to measure referral and affiliate performance.
7. Outdoor and Out-of-Home Advertising (OOH)
Billboards, transit ads, and posters ensure your brand gets noticed in high-traffic areas. OOH advertising works well for local businesses and global brands alike.
Example: A fashion retailer using eye-catching visuals on metro station billboards.
Conclusion
Choosing the right marketing channels depends on your target audience, goals, and budget. By combining traditional, digital, and innovative strategies, you can create a multi-channel marketing plan that maximizes brand visibility.

Imagine this: you showcase your bakery’s mouthwatering pastries right next to a recipe blog frequented by local foodies. That’s the magic of retail media networks (RMNs). These platforms allow you to target potential customers already browsing for similar products or services, creating a laser-focused marketing approach.
Benefits of RMNs for Local Businesses:
Targeted Reach: Advertise directly to those actively interested in what you offer, maximizing conversions.
Brand Awareness Boost: Increase local visibility by placing ads on popular websites frequented by your ideal customer.
Measurable Impact: Track campaign performance and refine your strategy for optimal results.
Video SEO: Turn Your Local Business Story into a Search Engine Magnet
Videos are captivating, informative, and perfect for showcasing your unique brand personality. But simply having great videos isn’t enough. You need to optimize them for search engines to ensure potential customers can find them.
Video SEO Tips for Local Businesses:
Keyword Magic: Research relevant terms your target audience uses to search for products or services like yours, and integrate them naturally in the title, description, and tags.
Compelling Content: Create high-quality videos that showcase your products in action, offer helpful tutorials, or tell your brand story in a captivating way.
Localize Your Videos: Include your location in the title, description, and tags to target local searches.
Tumblr media
Local citations are online mentions of your business name, address, and phone number (NAP) across various directories and websites. The more consistent and accurate your NAP is across the web, the better your chances are of ranking higher in local search results. Here’s how to manage your citations effectively:
Claim and Verify Your Google My Business Listing: This is crucial for local SEO and allows you to manage your online presence on Google Search and Maps.
Expand Your Reach: Find and claim listings on other relevant directories like industry-specific websites, local business listings, and online review platforms.
Consistency is Key: Ensure your NAP information (business name, address, and phone number) is identical across all listings.
The Trifecta in Action:
Imagine a potential customer searching for “best cupcakes near me.” Your bakery’s video, optimized with local SEO keywords, pops up in the search results. They click on the video, watch your mouthwatering creations come to life, and are instantly enticed. But wait, there’s more! Your bakery also has a targeted ad displayed on a local recipe blog they frequent, featuring a special discount on a cupcake box. This multi-pronged approach increases brand awareness, educates the customer, and ultimately drives them to visit your local store.
By combining the power of retail media networks, video SEO, and local citations, you create a winning strategy for attracting more local customers, increasing brand loyalty, and propelling your local business towards success. Remember, consistency is key! Regularly monitor your online presence, update your information, and adapt your strategies based on results. With dedication and the right tools, this local business marketing trifecta can turn your brick-and-mortar store into a thriving destination.
