G'raha looked so serious while he pleaded his case to venture into the World of Darkness with the Warrior of Light. The sudden conviction in his tone had Arsay at a loss for words. Still, she did not hesitate to meet his request with an accepting nod. He was an important friend and in the passing moons that they'd come to know each other, a strong fondness for him had taken hold of her. The prospect of helping G'raha find the truth behind his mysterious inheritance made Arsay's heart pound. It was the perfect venture for them to embark on. The first of many, she hoped. The two turned towards the impossibly tall spire that dared to pierce the heavens above. Arsay's resolve strengthened in its presence. When they next find themselves gazing at the tower -with their quest completed and the world no longer under threat of total destruction- she'll properly ask G'raha to be a companion in her travels. A grin crept its way onto her face as her gaze shifted to him. If Arsay could find it within herself to bare her heart to others so readily just as he does… perhaps their future adventures will find them together, hand in hand.

This has been like an AU idea stuck in my head for years now. I needed to force it outta my system a bit before it kept eating at me. ;;;

The only people in this AU who just kinda takes someone's position rather cleanly is Neku as Nate and probably Beat taking Buck's place (I feel like that'd fit fine). The others are like a hodgepodge of characters. ;;;

Examples of more hodgepodge roles is Joshua being a mix of Lucas and Whisper? Him taking Lucas' role is funnily fitting to me. Both can be found earlier in the plot before they're properly introduced. Both hunted down by a guy who wants their position and who are tied to altered mobs (taboo noise/white yokai). Neither seemingly wanting to keep that position anyways. Neither are human, but neither can be really separated from their humanity. Also I think it's funny to put a guy with Jesus imagery in the position of the guy named after Lucifer.

Shiki is more of her own thing tbh? I'd mostly be snatching Nate/Hailey's interactions with jibanyan/usapyon. Initially I wanted Shiki to be the one to interact with jibanyan the most because man... if I had a nickle for every character I know whose self worth was crushed by the misinterpreted words of an aspiring fashion designer they admired before they died I'd have 2 nickles. So why use originyan in place of jibanyan? I think it'd be neat if Shiki eventually gets around to dying originyan in her own colors. In the meantime, I think it'd be funny if originyan just snatches Mr.Mew to posses from time to time.

The way this AU got shot into my head was because of a little funny thing that happened in my old phone gallery years ago. And then it haunted me ever since, never letting me know peace. OTL

Anyway one of the more interesting - and by interesting I mean 'kind of hilarious' moments was the first day, when one of the art gallery people was spruiking the Champagne Art Auction (it's an art auction where you get... champagne...), looking at me and saying, apologetically, that you had to be eighteen to have some. Cue this conversation:

"Wait, just to clarify, you said that because you thought I was under eighteen, right?"

"Are you not?"

"...I'm thirty-six 🙃"

ngl though the longer this goes on, the funnier it gets.

Getting asked if I want to join the teen club when I'm twenty-seven and literally a decade too old for it: funny.

Getting told I need to be eighteen to legally drink when I've been able to legally drink so long that there were babies born after I've been able to legally drink who are now able to legally drink as well: hilarious.

anyone else with adhd and/or aspd have a hard time making their brain understand that present you and future you are the same damn person and that just because something doesn't have consequences right now doesn't mean you won't have to deal with them later? there's so many things that i do that i know will make tomorrow harder and yet i can't seem to grasp that fact. i don't seem to get that as far away in the future as something is it will still always end up becoming a thing that is happening now. i create stupid problems that are to be dealt with later all the time and then curse my past self for thinking that the solution will be simpler in the future, but even after 26 years i still haven't learned to do better. i absolutely know i should, but when it comes to using that knowledge in practice... it's just crickets. it makes it very hard to not be frustrated with myself all the time because i've got the habit of leaving everything that's a bit difficult or unpleasant for later therefore making my life in the near future way harder than it needs to be.

I'm like halfway convinced that the reason driftveil city plays in the coastal biome is because that's where Lacey's stationed and I'm like 90% sure that the Unova gym leader that's her dad is Clay. she has an Excadrill as an ace and there are literally no other male gym leaders coming to mind that would be old enough to have a teenage daughter except him.
