Decided to go a bit in depth into the UGH weapons in my universe to give yah an idea of whats going on.

First things first: a solid 97% of all standard issue UGH rifles, smgs, shotguns and snipers are bullpup, with a few exceptions here and there(like Mackenzie’s shotgun), on top of that all projectile based weapons use caseless ammunition, ammo that uses casing has been rendered obsolete since the 2160s.

There are a few types of weapons that while not used by the military are used by civilians, bounty hunters, mercs etc for various reasons. Weapons such as lever action rifles, revolvers, and pump action shotguns are all used by civilians for personal defense/collection, as well as various professions that involve firearms(like how Kyle uses a revolver).

All magazine fed guns, military issued or otherwise, use mags that can 3D print their own ammo, revolvers have something similar only it’s the cylinder that does the 3D printing. How many times a mag can print its own ammo depends on the firearm but one thing they all have in common is that they have a certain amount of times it can print its ammo before the mag/cylinder needs to be replaced all together(like say a 30 round mag and print ammo 10 times). Non-military combatants(mercs, assassins, bounty hunters etc)can purchase an upgrade that allows the mag/cylinder to have infinite prints thus allowing for literally infinite ammo, however this upgrade is extremely expensive especially on non-pistol/smg firearms.

Sometimes I play around with the idea Cyber City has a very strict heirchy of citizens and addisons are usually menail workers whether they like it or not. They are needed to run things but are in such abundance a lot of non addisons citizens see them as expendable. 

I feel like this is why Spamton’s rise was such a big thing because it’s rare for addisons to get into very important positions let alone ones that are so in your face such as the number one rated salesman of the cyber world! I imagine he was a legend to most addisons only making the strain with the addisons he knew worse cause now people only came to them cause they used to know him instead of the other way around.

Spamton to a lot of ads would become a legend, a cautionary tale, a success story and a tragedy and I think of that a lot.

Here is where Barry practices his Elektromancy and performs at music concerts. Aside from going on missions for The ULTRAMagic Guild, he is also a disk jockey with an interest in electronic music.

    For the longest time Barry did not leave The Night Realm after his botched reincarnation from his past life, The Hunter of Old. Upon joining The ULTRAMagic Guild, he began exploring the universes connected to The Night Realm. Primarily he visited what was supposed to be his universe, Universe-15. Eventually he wandered over to Universe-23 where he became friends with Bran Lommel. The two had similar tastes in music and Barry really liked Bran's editing, asking him to make music videos for his original tracks.

    Personality-wise, Barry is lovably awkward. His reincarnation may have messed with him, but that has not stopped him from enjoying his hobbies and making friends. Barry does not know what he wants in life, although music and magic are pretty fun. The mystery of his past life does bother him, however. In regards to the guild, he tends to get himself into trouble when not supervised. Blood-Wraith, Aoife, David, Aureolus, Tiberius, Deimos, and Ultimatum are consistently concerned for him because of this. Fortunately Brenna (ULTRAMagic Artillery) volunteered to take him into her squad. She is confident that she can help him with issues and conundrums, given that she is a military officer for The Iron City.

The solver acts in a similar vein to the metal virus/cyber corruption in that Sonic is actively fighting it from the start but unlike how the metal virus behaves running will only cause him to overheat more. He's okay friends with Rouge and Knuckles at the start of the adventure. During the events of EP 4 he goes full solver mode and what snaps him out of it is the fact that he nearly attacks his friends. This sends him into a bit of a spiral because holy shit, he is losing control of himself. Also, EP 4 is the first time he consumes another drone and that REALLY fucks him up.

Oh, and MDAU!Sonic doesn't have any of the experience of canon Sonic when it comes to dealing with world ending scenarios so he's under a lot of stress once he fully starts to lose control to the solver.

curious question, what do you think about Eclipse The Darkling? and his character and do you think Eclipse could be redeem

Eclipse the Darkling is my FAVORITE Sonic Archie original character, both Pre-Reboot and Post-Reboot.

I absolutely love how his character contrasts Shadow, they share a lot of similarities. Both were created as weapons, with Eclipse basically being what Shadow would be like if he were a pure Black Arms alien instead of a hybrid, with his own Super Form to boot. That, and his Dark Arms give him a lot of variable weapons, meaning that he is a bit unpredictable in a fight.

Both of them have loved ones, but while Shadow distances himself from his friends/allies after what happened to Maria, Eclipse genuinely still sees Shadow as his brother and wants to connect with him, even after Shadow destroyed his whole Black Arms race, giving him chance after chance and relenting when Shadow tells him how that isn't going to happen.

Both also follow their own ideologies, with Shadow wanting to protect the world, while Eclipse wants to turn into a food source, as Black Doom and Black Death before him.

I enjoy Eclipse being written as Shadow's arch-enemy and I do think that Eclipse can actually be redeemed (as a matter of fact, I'm also working on my notes for my own adaptation of the Black Arms invasion in my Sonic Cyber Revolution story, which will feature Eclipse front and center). There are so many stories that can be written around Shadow and Eclipse's relationship and I'm all for that.

Not only that, but I'm seriously hoping that Eclipse can be brought back, as Ian Flynn stated on the Bumblekast that, if there's one character from the Sonic Archie Post-SGW era that has the chance to appear in Sonic IDW, it would be Eclipse.

Add into that that with Sonic X Shadow Generations, SEGA is reaching back into the Black Arms lore, and I will allow myself to hope that there will be demand enough for Eclipse to also be featured in some form.

the big acid theory post

(i am sorry for how long this is)

couple weeks ago someone on discord asked if i could dm them my gripes about acid theory, since they hadn't seen any criticisms of it. i was very surprised to hear that so of course i did what any normal deltarune fan would do and wrote an essay (aka complained for several paragraphs). posting for reference sake so i have all my thoughts in one place and never make a post about this topic again

basically my criticisms for acid theory are on all tiers/interpretations of it as an life-changing event where he ends up disfigured. i don't think it makes much sense to happen for multiple reasons

for it to happen from a narrative perspective i don't really buy it. spamton's downfall is already tragic in that he lost his friends, his fame and fortune, and got evicted. in regards to the mansion, the eviction itself is the tragedy, in particular that it's implied that it wasn't only him that got evicted that day. a swatchling says that the mansion used to be for high-class citizens. the rooms that were once for these citizens are now for lightners, so it wasn't just that he had no money, he was gonna get kicked out anyway.

i mention this cause a common interp of acid theory is that the mansion staff threw him in as punishment, and i think there's little evidence for that given the circumstances. a while ago i went on this whole spiel about how mischaracterizing queen and/or swatch to try and support the theory makes it weaker to me but that's additional stuff

and about the acid as a threat, it's hard to take it seriously when the majority of mentions of it are for gags or game design-related. for example, the gold berdly statue being dropped into the acid slowly dips in because if it just sank instantly, you could very easily miss it. the swatchling being stranded on the island is a goof with anticipating a battle the moment you set the bridge out for them.

for spamton falling into the acid as an explanation for whatever caused him to be a physical puppet (this is going off of taking the addisons' word that he was an addison too), it doesn't really line up. it doesn't make a lot of sense from a lore standpoint; there's no evidence to suggest that the addisons look like puppets underneath. i mean it's an interesting hc, but to assume it's canon that that's why spamton looks like a puppet now is kinda just filling in blanks.

that one q&a answer where spamton talks about there being some kind of "spamton method" he used every day and became "big" to me implies that it was some kind of slow transformation into a puppet. it's not much to go off of, but it's a lot more compelling than taking a tumble in acid. there's more mystery there and might even explain why spamton showed up to the mansion less over time

i think at this point it's clear that at some point he did get pushed in by someone, as stated in the spa attire from the sweepstakes and one of his valentine's cards, but to me it seems like it was an example of him being mistreated by the other rich residents in the mansion. before he talks about getting pushed in a pool, he mentions that he's gotten swirlies at the mansion, and to me it seems like he's still really bothered by his treatment there which is why he mopes about it.

queen mentioning that the acid can shrink people is also played for jokes, even susie in the ch3 video saying that they'll die if they drink the acid is played for jokes (also i think it would probably hurt them cause they're lightners and not cyber darkners)

anyway, if acid theory ends up being directly confirmed without any cryptic wording and all that i would still dislike it. i just don't think it fits with spamton or ch2's themes and it's randomly dark in a way that's not appealing to me. i like psychological horror more and the puppetfication thing already fits that. i know it's definitely appealing to others and i don't think people are bad for liking it per se, but it's not my kinda thing at all nor do i think it's canon, so i personally want nothing to do with it

ok stopping with the theatrics, idk why I phrased it like that, but fr, Nine Sols is a game from Red Candle Games, a taiwanese indie game studio, that came out a month ago. It's only available on pc right now but I'm hoping for a console port at some point.

As for the general points:

You play as this little guy called Yi, who's on a quest for revenge against, well, the titular nine sols, the rulers of the land where this game's takes place: New Kunlun. But there's a twist.

The vibe of the game's style as been described as "taopunk": a lot of characters take inspiration from ancient eastern mythology, like the main character for starters, and it's mixed with some cyber-feel that makes it really slick and satisfying. It's also just a very pretty game to look at.

The game also has some disturbing science-fiction elements, if you like The Horrors™️ (The Horrors™️ are great).

As I said before, the combat really focuses on parrying but Yi has quite a few things up his arsenal to keep it interesting. He also has a little butterfly buddy. Im also told that there is a slightly bigger emphasis on platforming in general and Yi has the shmovement.

The bosses are really fun to fight and honestly? Pretty interesting as characters. The characters are all great overall. The story is nuanced overall and you can tell they really wanted to build a rich world with lore. And I wanna see people take it appart and analyse it bc there is A LOT to say about the everything.

I’ll be honest I fucking love video game lore. It’s one thing that sucks me into games so hard. The world building in this fic just for the video game is so good!! I want to eat it up. And the fact that Steve stumbles into Keswardia destroys me. Read it, you’ll get it.

I honestly think this is the first time I’ve ever read a social media AU that’s only through images and with a complete story. There’s screenshots of the text messages, Instagram, news articles, TikTok’s. This is such a unique storytelling method and everyone is so in character, you forget that it’s not real screenshots. (I hardly ever read anything that’s incomplete but I made sure to hit subscribe when I first saw it was on Ao3.) It’s a WIP, but chapter 16 is supposed to be an epilogue, so even if you don’t like reading WIPs, I highly encourage this one!!

Greyhawk had said that being friends would let them be able to tell when the other was online so they could quest again. Steve really liked the sound of that. He didn’t have many friends his own age. A new friend sounded really nice, especially given that it was unlikely he would ever get along with his neighbors. The only resident Steve’s age on this floor was the neighbor he hated and that was very unlikely to change anytime soon.

Steve hated his neighbor. And then Dustin and the other kiddos left for college and Steve signed up for some online game called World of Warcraft. Which was how Steve met a Night Elf druid named Greyhawk.

Oh my god did we ask for more mistake identities because THIS FIC IS LOADED WITH THEM!!! I cannot stress how much I loved this fic. I just discovered it two weeks ago and it is embedded so deeply into my brain I just !!!!

Steve decides to join Dustin and the rest of the party on WoW, to bridge the distance college has created, but somehow never joins their party as he makes a new friend online. Steve uses WoW to relax from the real world of his stressful job at the hospital, the ongoing feud he has with his neighbor and his cat (Cowboy!!!!!!), and the constant nagging he gets from Dustin to meet his other older friend Eddie.

Eddie, on the other hand, found a newb on WoW and somehow adopted him as a new friend, helping him level up and teach him the game. If only friendships work out this well in real life, then maybe he could help his grumpy neighbor not be so … well… grumpy.

Hi! I ended up reading through Choas Plan in pretty much two days (your writing is actually phenomenal) but I was actually curious on your inspirations to write it? Did it come from any other particular works or maybe episodes from sp?

You can't just ask me shit like that dude I will respond with a huge fucking essay I LOVE questions like that!!!!

I honestly have several inspirations, many come from the show itself and some I've drawn from cyber crime documentaries and books I like (namely the Six of Crows duology by Leigh Bardugo, you might recognize the scene with Mysterion and Harris in chapter 3 is very VERY similar to the one between Kaz and Jan Van Eck at the beginning of the book), but if you've read the notes in the fic you might have seen that the story idea was initially born when I was playing TFBW.

The Idea

The U-Stor-It scene where Butters/Chaos locks the C**n and Friends in the facility and talks to them through a screen was just so fascinating to me, it reminded me a lot of Jinx from Arcane and the Joker in The Dark Knight (especially because of the flashy decorations and graffiti). Mainly the story evolved from the question I posed to myself in that moment, which was: "What needs to happen for Butters to become someone like Jinx?" and that's how I started brainstorming the backstory.

The Backstory

Obviously that was inspired mainly by Linda's behavior in Butters' Very Own Episode, but it features elements from stuff all over the series and the games that prove just how fucked up Butters' parents are and treat him.

(Remember when in TFBW he mentioned that they bought an electronic lock system to keep him in his room because he left the bathroom once while grounded? yeah, that convinced me Butters' home life probably would only get worse with the years, especially with him entering his teens & puberty, and Post Covid honestly just confirmed that.)

The Villain/Hero Concept

I hadn't yet watched much more of South Park than up until seasons 15/16 so I didn't know about Post Covid's Vic Chaos yet, I mostly just wanted to do something with Mysterion and Chaos that had a darker and serious tone without either of them having any Marvel-esque powers or tech-organizations aiding them, something closer to the South Park lore at hand and realistic enough to feel like it could happen in our world.

Chaos' Methods

With Butters having a knack for Internet-related shit and him being able to hack into a baseball stadium screen to broadcast his evil plans in the Professor Chaos episode, and ofc his whole thing in TFBW and the episode of him becoming a pimp, I figured he has the stuff to be a hacker and entrepreneur.

I started getting spoilered a lot on the whole Vic Chaos and NFT scammer thing so even though I hadn't watched Post Covid I drew a lot of inspiration from that as well. I've been watching a lot of documentaries on Cryptocurrency scams and other cyber crime related stuff, so yeah all that shit also gets my brain generating a bunch of ideas as well.

Mysterion

As for Kenny/Mysterion's side of the story- I'm a huge fan of the "criminal who gets paid by a shitty pig/capitalist who would normally never hire them to take on a job" concept in Six of Crows, so that's how I got Harris involved, later further fueled by his Thin White Line arc in TFBW.

The way Kenny used his death powers in the C**n & Friends episodes I found very intriguing, and I absolutely LOVE playing around with them, so I included my own interpretation & spin of it as an active "superpower" he uses in order to be successful enough as a vigilante to be taken seriously. His canon powers separate him from your average humanbeing. It's a way to show the audience "hey look, Kenny really is just some guy, but also no one else could take on this role, ever. He may not have super strength or speed or money for equipment backing him, but he can get into places and out like no other person ever."

Coming up with a kryptonite-type weakness was also super fun, because I didn't want things to just be too easy. Mainly it's his need to remain anonymous, but the biggest reason for that need is because he needs to keep up his ability to financially support Karen. That, I obviously got from the show-, namely episodes like Mysterion Rises, The Poor Kid and City Part of Town, but his dynamic with Karen got increasingly more interesting and influenced in the fic after I played the TFBW DLC From Dusk Til Casa Bonita. The fact that he's so obsessed with keeping her safe the best way he knows how but completely overlooks to consider letting her have a say in it, is absolutely delicious. Like fuck yes, let's go complicate these character relationships (rubs hands evilly)

TL;DR

Inspirations come from all over, but of course the main ones do come from the show and games. Kenny and Butters have always been increasingly fascinating characters to me the more I watched the show, so the fact that Kenny canonically is the only kid Butters respects (source: s16, Ep "Going Native"), to an extent that in the future Butters funded his entire career, I thought had a shit ton of potential. Hence their friendship in the fic before "the incident", and the way Butters goes about Kenny now that he's taking over the town >:)))
