Okay but a Hetalia/Da Vinci Code crossover with aph Prussia as Silas.

Indiana Jones was shot as a love letter to the older, adventure explorer movies that Lucas and Spielberg grew up with, like Casablanca, Lawrence of Arabia, Gunga Din, King Solomon’s Mines (1950), Treasure of the Sierra Madre, and Secrets of the Incas.

Indy is a direct nod to Charlton Heston’s character Harry in Secrets of the Incas. In that movie, Harry wears a leather jacket and a fedora and is after fortune and glory, kid, fortune and glory.

The African Queen would also be a good one to watch, since it inspired Disney’s Jungle Cruise ride and movie. In that, Humphrey Bogart is taking Katherine Hepburn down a river in a tramp steamer and has to outwit the Germans.

If you want good movies that inspired Indiana Jones but were not jungle adventure moves, The Maltese Falcon, and The Adventures of Robin Hood are both direct influences on the movie.

i’ve seen a lot of people (including myself) compare jungle cruise to ‘the mummy’ potc and national treasure, aaaand yeah, the thing about the “adventurer/librarian/history professor goes on well… adventure’ genre is that they are all very similar, following the indiana jones blueprint

so if you loved the jungle cruise and you wanna watch more of stuff like that or you hated it and you wanna cleanse your pallete, here are my recommendations:

the mummy (1999), the mummy returns (2001) (we don’t claim the third one or the tom cruise whatever it was, in this house)

sahara (2005)

blood and treasure (2019- )

lara croft - tomb raider (2001) (the second movie is optional, depending how much time you have and how desperate you are. the alicia vikander version, i watched but i don’t remember. at. all.)

indiana jones and the raiders of the lost ark (1981), indiana jones and the temple of doom (1984), indiana jones and the last crusade (1989) (there are no other indiana jones movies, don’t let anyone lie to you)

national treasure (2004), national treasure: book of secrets (2007)

the librarian: quest for the spear (2004), the librarian: return to king solomon’s mines (2006), the librarian: the curse of the judas chalice (2008)

the da vinci code (2006) (’angels and demons’ and ‘inferno’ are optional, personally i think inferno was hot garbage and ‘aad’ was fantastic, so…)

It's really a shame that Christianity is taken so seriously (both by the people in it and those against it) because I would love to see what we could have if more people played with the Bible the way they play with Greek mythology. And I don't just mean individuals in fandom (though I'm sure they'd produce some great content and I would absolutely be browsing The Bible works on AO3), I want to see the shows, games, and movies that studios would put out. Godspell and Jesus Christ Superstar were great but we need to be willing to deviate from and add to canon more. The Da Vinci Code made some bold choices, but its main plot was still 2000 years removed from the source material and is filled entirely with OCs.
