Rewatching the kenobi show...
Damn that first episode is so good
Like I forgot how good it really was.
It sets up perfectly how Obi is beat down, haunted by his past, and fixated on "protecting" Luke. But let's be real, at this point Luke isn't Luke to him, but merely Anakins 2.0. He watches from a distance and sees Luke mimicking flying...just like Anakin always did. I think people tend to forget that Anakin was 9 when Obi Wan started training him, when he says "obi wan is like a father to me" he MEANS it. Obi Wan is watching Luke and thinking of the little boy he not only trained, but raised. He wants to be let into his life and train Luke like he did his father. But Owen knows that would put Luke in danger so he pushes Obi Wan away, making sure Luke stays far away from the call of adventure.
So Obi Wan repeats his daily cycle, work, eat, deal with Jawas, dream of his mistakes, and watch Luke, hoping that he'll see Anakin, hoping that he'll get a second chance to train a Skywalker to bring back balance.
And then there's Leia. (LITTLE LEIA I LOVE YOU SO MUCH!!!) a princess who doesn't fit in, she's adopted and doubts her place, she's smart witted and quick to call people out (padme), she's emotionally intelligent far beyond her years (ok super strong in the force leia). She's has so much potential and her parents love her so much. And then she's kidnapped.
And now Obi Wan has to help, even though it means pulling himself out of his depression and self-cripling cycle. He has to help, he knows it, because she's Anakins just as much as Luke is. And as he journeys with her he gains Hope again.
Obi wan may have been leias only hope, but he was only able to be because she gave him that hope back in the first place.

The Rattatak origin for Asajj and Ky is very important to me because there's something so special about this bond between someone who's been raised to fight, whose parents were warlords, and a Jedi, a peacekeeper. That part is present in the canon origin, but not as much, and is only brought in later on, with Dooku: Jedi Lost's expansion on their story (which draws from the Rattatak origin so much!!!). I also think that, while Asajj is lost as a character, she should think she's right. She should think she has things backing her, at all times. Having her legacy of war and becoming a warlord herself on Rattatak means so much to her and TCW just... misses that point. The way I understand her, which is my interpretation from everything about her in Legends, she strives for power even though she has a lot of it. She has a castle on Rattatak, at least one loyal guard, a prison, and a life. Republic #60 presents this unexplored part of her story that actually adds so much to the depth of the character. She didn't choose it, not at first, but she uses the power Dooku gave her, and she has power of her own.
There's something about her in her (only) 12 Legends comic issues that gives her much more independence and character depth than I feel TCW has ever done. She is a blind servant of power, of Dooku, yes, but there's more of her. another thing that almost doesn't exist in canon, and doesn't exist in TCW at all, is Asajj and Ky's role on Rattatak.
"On her own, Asajj would have died. Left to his own devices, the stranger would have undoubtedly been captured and killed. But together they became something our world had never known... They became heroes. They ended wars and united armies. And as their legend grew..." -Osika Kirske, Republic #60
In TCW, Ky's a savior to her most of all. Rattatak isn't that much of a hostile and unfamiliar environment, and Dooku: Jedi Lost even implies he could have taken Asajj to Coruscant. But here, it's their partnership that saved them both. And they weren't only partners, they were heroes to Rattatak, a land of war and conflict. It's important that she's more than a Jedi. Rattatak was her life, not a place she as taken to as a baby. It's also important that she is from Rattatak (while Ky isn't), to not be a, you know, foreign (white) savior story. Another quote from Kirske in Republic #60 while I'm at it, about Asajj after she met Dooku.
"After her mentor's death, Ventress assembled an army. She learned new tricks from other off-worlders. She waged war on us all... She killed or captured all who would oppose her..."
Again, I don't think her being from Rattatak gives her any more right to conquer the planet (which she didn't do in TCW because god forbid she does anything but look sexy while fighting Obi-Wan in season 1), but it does make sense for her. Meeting Dooku changes her perspective, and while she still views herself as a Jedi, she feels she has more right to be a Jedi than Obi-Wan or anyone else (calling him a false Jedi). I don't think George Lucas thought all of that through when he said he wanted to make Asajj a Nightsister. Hell, I don;t think he read Republic #60. I think elements from that issue were even incorporated into the show in the first place because they just had to fill the gaps. Still, I talk a lot about how I hate that retcon and I truly do, but I never really explained it. Can't imagine this was clear as a rant but I did just want to write some of this down.
Lastly, just the concept of a fully grown Jedi learning from and teaching this feisty child how to fight in this war and how to be on this planet is. priceless. I love it.

Anakin Skywalker is not a himbo.
Luther Hargreeves is not a himbo either.
They are both awkward sweethearts but NEITHER is unintelligent.
Anakin built a droid and a racing pod by the time he was 9-years-old. He taught himself to fly as a young child and probably retrofits freaking warships and speeders because he’s bored. He definitely does a lot of mechanical things like tweaking and upgrading his own mechanical arm for gods sake.
Luther is an astronaut! According to google, “aspiring astronauts need to have a master's degree, usually in a STEM field. You must also complete two years of training and pass the notoriously hard NASA physical. Those interested in space can find jobs as scientists, engineers, or astronomers”. Granted, Luther has super strength which likely gave him an edge in the physical but the rest? That is nothing anyone can just brush off. Plus wasn’t it implied that Luther had to do all the required math for his experiments on the moon by himself? And that he did them more than once?
I say again, I don’t understand how these two got that label. It could not be more wrong.

Here’s a little about me and what to expect
I’m Anna, she/her, 27. Welcome!
I’m on AO3 as kingandlionheart
I’m currently going 16 years strong with my love/hate relationship with the MCU (I was obsessed with Ironman after watching it lol)
Steve Rogers and Bucky Barnes have a special place in my heart and I cry over them daily. I have an arsenal of headcanons about them in my drafts that I’m sometimes brave enough to share.
I don’t ship much else in the MCU except Clintasha. You may see the occasional bitterness I still harbor over AOU.
This is not multi shipping blog. Personal preference is that it HAS to be Stucky or nothing 😂 If I reblog other ships (where Steve/Bucky are concerned anyway), it’s platonic because I love friendship.
I am very anti Endgame. I am not anti Peggy, but I am anti Steggy. Expect a lot of Endgame rants until further notice.
Other fandoms I love:
Merlin
Star Wars
Legend of Zelda
ATLA
PJO
Harry Potter
Other random things idk
Anti JK ✌️
Here are the other ships nearest and dearest to my heart:
Merthur
Zutara
Percabeth
Jily and Wolfstar
Zelink (BOTW/TOTK mostly)
Other things may appear but not frequently. I love broadway musicals so there may be some of that here and there.
I went dead on tumblr in 2018 but recently reappeared after I found a fanfiction on Reddit called These City Walls that absolutely destroyed my life and made me come crawling out of my grave. Seriously read it. Amazing.
Expert fanfic reader but novice fanfic writer. I am working on getting back into writing fanfiction so I talk/post a lot about writing. I want to finish my stories first before posting because I know from experience that when I post a WIP, writing becomes more of a chore than for fun.
Minors DNI/DNF
Feel free to talk to me about anything! Cry about Stucky, share headcanons, or just rant about whatever.

Hi, Skelly! Really random question here but I think your honestly the best person to ask on this topic. This is non-Star Wars related btw. Feel free to ignore.
I have these neighbours who arent the best of people. They got a dog 2 years ago I believe, a Belgian Shepherd. Unsurprisingly, she barks a lot.
We don't think the owners are abusing her or not feeding her or anything, just not taking her for a lot of walks. It's their first dog (the mum, dad and two sons, to be exact, none have ever had a dog before) and obviously shouldn't have gotten a Belgian Shepherd when they have a smallish backyard.
I was wondering if there was something I - or my family - could do? None of us blame the dog, just the inexperienced-ness of the family.
You don't have to reply to this, as I know its out of pocket and not what you expect. Was just curious.
Have a great day/night!
~Jamie.
P.S. My puppy had a scare last year when she was only 2 and a half months or so and we had to go to ER for her. Geez, that place is stressful so my thanks to you and your workers everywhere!
Tumblr media
Buckle up and get comfortable, I have A LOT to say on this issue:
(TRIGGER WARNING-I WORK VETERINARY ER AND THERE WILL BE MENTIONS OF DEATH AND OTHER DARK ASPECTS OF WHAT VET STAFF SEE IN THE FIELD. Consider yourself warned. I am ranting as a PSA and FYI for those not familiar but REALLY need to know what we do! If you feel brave PLEASE give it the time to read. Thanks!!!)
OHHH, I LOVE SHEPPIES!!! They are SO smarticle, sweet, energetic...and extremely spirited. However, they DEFINITELY need exercise. More importantly, they need mental stimulation. A several mile walk is great for the body, but not something everyone can do daily. Plus, these guys are brilliant (only second to the esteemed Border Collie) and their mind is like a hamster on a wheel. So, training, commands, tricks, agility courses and anything that requires not just exercise, but mental stimulation is top priority. These guys were bred to run and think on their feet. THEY NEED A JOB! They AT LEAST (and this is foundational) NEED TO BE WALKED DAILY!!! Every dog needs to be walked daily as this also helps with bone density, muscle strength, balance, cardiovascular function, etc. Same with humans. If you don't exercise, you can become depressed, overweight, brittle bones, diabetic, constipated, and a host of other health issues later in life that cost money to regulate and fix.
Most owners buy a dog as a companion, and these guys can be amazing ones. However they aren't your lazy Golden Retrievers or Greyhounds (while sporting class they do a burst of energy and lay around a lot normally). Unfortunately, dogs not given mental stimulation will show the following behaviors: excessive barking, destructive chewing, inappropriate urination/defecation, escaping out of the yard and getting in trouble/injured, misbehavior to commands, possible self injury, and unfortunately even aggression towards people and other animal housemates. A LOT of working/sporting dogs wind up in shelters and euthanized due to these behaviors when all they needed was regular exercise, training, and mental stimulation. A LOT of regular non sporting dogs do too.
In order to keep their dog, they need to include them as a true member of the family. Plan family activities with the dog. Can they run errands with a family member who might just want to do a ride along and the dog comes with to sit in the car when the person goes in. They can also research places that allow shoppers to bring their dogs into the facility: Home Depot, Lowes, Michaels, some downtown shops in their area might allow it. Shop for dog snacks/food and take the dog with them to pick it up as many pet stores allow dogs in their store. Heck we have restaurants and coffee shops that cater to outdoor dining patrons who bring their dogs...and the dogs get spoiled too.
If their dog is too rambunctious, then they DEFINITELY NEED TO SIGN UP AND GO TO DOG TRAINING CLASSES. ALL THE CLASSES, and more than just puppy training. Really, this should be foundational too. Every dog needs training. Again, get the whole family involved, because the dog (like children and adults) need consistency and everyone needs to know what to do when walking, interacting, and commanding "Sheppie" to behave like a Good Canine Citizen. There is a a right way to train and a horrible way to reinforce negative behaviors in a canine. EVERYONE needs to put in the work. Everyone needs to feed the dog, fill it's water bowl, pick up the poop, and walk the dog. Everyone needs to play and pet the poochie. That's why you get a dog!
The family needs to do some honest soul searching to figure out if this dog and breed REALLY fits with their family dynamic. If not, they the dog should go back to the rescue or shelter (many shelters have a return clause in their paperwork that says they MUST return the dog to them. It's for safety reasons) or find a RESPONSIBLE new owner to adopt "Sheppie". There are rescues, shelters, and fosters online. Again, they took on the responsibility and they need to do their due diligence to find a good home for this living breathing animal.
Let me also debunk a horrible myth that still circulates: REHOMING YOUR ANIMAL IS NOT WRONG IF YOU CANNOT TAKE CARE OF OR PROVIDE FOR IT! Screaming it for the people in the back!!! I have been working in the vet field for over 8 years (general practice, shelter med, emergency, high volume TNR) and have seen some horrendous shit when people keep an animal that they no longer wish to interact with. It can be mild contempt for the perceived burden to downright neglect and abuse. Also, I have seen family members and household pets in danger or actually mauled from dogs that people refused to put more money/couldn't afford/didn't have time for training that kept/refused to rehome to a place with no children/no pets/etc. And, understandably, many of these people LOVED that dog and kept trying to fix the situation. But sometimes you cannot, and the aggression, destruction, ingestion of foreign objects (we have frequent visitors to my ER that have foreign body surgeries due to anxiety chewing/swallowing-some end as euthanasia's). I have had owner's come in with animals that needed to be euthanized for aggression due to high drive, with their housemate mauled, and the owner mauled and bleeding (trying to pull them apart)-all of them showing up together. We have had bored dogs jump the fence to find something interesting to do and get hung up on it, needing emergency surgery. We have had them run out into the street and hit by cars. These things happen to all dogs that require someone to tend to their needs EVERY DAY!
I had to rehome a Dutch Shepherd that we took on as a foster (from a not good situation-putting it mildly) when she tried to maul my elderly German Shepherds (and that was with daily walks, daily at home training, professional training, and veterinary medical evaluations), we found a rescue that deals with security/military breeds to take her to. Sometimes the animal you choose to have in your home may NOT FIT WITH YOUR FAMILY. It happens.
So, you asked what you can do? First, thank you for caring and wanting to do something. Second, you can print out information on local dog training places, agility, and specific breed information (Belgian Shepherds include: Malinois, Turveren, Laekenois, and Groenendael, so tailor it to what their dog is), and anything else you can think of to offer to the owner. Try to approach it as helping and not frustration. HOWEVER, I will warn you now that sometimes people are not open to outside help and will not take this positively. Even people seeking out medical veterinary help can get defensive when we try to help them. Unfortunately, nice people who take on a high drive/high energy breed for their first dog are unaware of the huge responsibility they have. And, not demonizing here, but they buy the dog with the ideal they have for themselves and forget this animal has needs and is languishing without proper care...even a mental/physical outlet. And from what I have seen, this is an epidemic. For those reading this: if you feel you have to "come at me" go volunteer at a shelter/rescue or go have a heart to heart discussion with ANY veterinary professional. If someone was entrusted as your guardian with the responsibility of your mental healthcare and didn't see to your mental health needs and you had no outlet, how would you feel?
Actually...that is happening now in epidemic proportions. It sucks, right???
I wish you luck @fionajames . It's NEVER bad to reach out and attempt to help. At least you tried and I LOVE YOU FOR IT!

(Mini Acotar Rant kinda)
I have an inherent need to see Nesta In the day court and summer court you can't convince me she wouldn't thrive in those courts
Like Traquin and Helion could both help her tremendously and they could become great friends with Nesta
(More under because this is a long one boys)
Traquin could help her overcome her fear of being submerged in water the summer court probably has pools of many different sizes and depths
They could start small like 5 inches of water and slowly work their way up until they get to the point nesta is ok in water deep enough her feet don't touch the floor
And through it all Traquin being caring and understanding and encouraging never pushing her when she she wants to stop always telling she's done good
Also if she accidentally sets something on fire he doesn't get mad he uses his powers to put it out and comforts her
Helion helping Nesta overcome her fear of fires he notices her flinch when he lights any fire and eventually after gentle coaxing he learns of her fear her trauma
He starts silencing the fires around his house with a spell and eventually asks if she would like him to help her with the fear
Nesta agreeing and Helion slowly getting her used to fire by making small fires in his palm and slowly making them bigger
And slowly getting her used to the noise by slowly lowering the spell that silences the fires until she doesn't need the spell up at all
Helion helping Nesta regulate and master her powers him researching and managing to make gems that store and regulate her power (less powerful siphons I hope I spelled that right)
Helion making jewelry out of them and giving them to her Nesta immediately feeling the efforts of them of her power being regulated and filtered and being over joyed
Helion teaching her to use her magic not for combat not for war but everyday tasks having her light the fires in the house or pick up a cup small things at first
Helion and Nesta learning she can manifest particularly anything she can think of her using this power to conjuror cake or books or tea
Helion being amazed when Nesta can not only conjuror fire but ice water plants and even starlight if she tries hard enough
Nesta using her powers to just have fun or do mundane things Nesta throwing water at Helion Nesta conjuring stars on the ceiling at night
Nesta making ice sculptures Nesta growing fruit for the hell of it Nesta conjuring cake and tea out of thin air to have while reading
Nesta finally having control of this power and not feeling like it's going to rip her apart and not needing to use it everyday because of the gems
Nesta happy and healing and becoming friends with 2 high lords and going back and forth between the two courts because they've both become her home
Tumblr media
(Ok time for head cannons / just scenarios that I envision with this)
Nesta making friends with a day court male who is twice her size but the biggest book nerd ever
Nesta making friends with workers at both summer and day and them being delighted everytime she returns to their court
Nesta just making friends who fallow her back and forth to both courts and tease her about her books but also read the books she recommendeds them
Traquin and Nesta going on evening works around summer courts Beaches and Traquin putting his jacket/coat on her when she gets cold
Nesta falling asleep on a pool float and Traquin having to have to retrieve her and trying not to wake her as he carries her out of the pool
Helion braiding gold and small jewels into Nesta's her while she sits and reads
Helion just doing Nesta's hair in general and always put in some type of pin or headband or any pretty hair accessories
Nesta falling asleep in Helion's huge library and it becomes a one man game of hide and seek as he looks for her and eventually finds and carries her to bed
Nesta and Helion bonding over books and giving each other recommendations and judging books together
Nesta and Traquin having water fights on the Daily powers and all there always being a huge mess afterwards
Nesta dancing in the shallow pools of the summer court and Traquin joining her
Nesta using her powers to make companions for herself basing them off of azs shadows and later making more animal shaped ones
The attendants of both summer court and Day court loving to help Nesta get ready be it for the day or an event
Nesta dressed in Day courts white and or summer courts blue and silver and white
Or fuck it Nesta in dark blue that fades to white and gold combining both day and summer because their both her home
Nesta Walking around both courts and at events wearing the colors of day and summer with her hair down and gold and silver in her hair and people mistaken her for the lady of both courts
Nesta finding a home friends and freedom in the courts of day and summer and no one being able to take her away from either court least they anger the respective High Lords
(That's it for this post sorry if it was long but I just need this in my life and I'm definitely going be drawing and writing about this idea for a while anyway hope you enjoyed)

Klitz x Reader
warnings : none?
a/n : weezer is cool
Tumblr media
"When you get there, just be straight up, tell her you want to fuck her, done and dusted."
Eli sucked at giving advice.
"What? No, first of all I don't want to have sex with her."
Eli paced around the bedroom as he raised an eyebrow at Klitz.
"At least not yet! Things like that take time."
Klitz was definitely the more logical of the three.
"Klitz is right, that would just make her run away." Matt turned to Klitz. "Just...talk to her, be friendly, nice or whatever."
"Okay, but talk to her about what? My star wars figure collection?" Clearly, Klitz was confused.
"That's a start! Talk about your interests, like what music you listen to or your hobbies." Matt said as he sat beside Klitz on his bed, patting his shoulder.
Klitz doubted you would want to listen to him ranting on about how he enjoyed studying or his stupid playlists he liked to make on a daily basis.
-
You were more nervous than Klitz was to say the least.
Tugging at your beige turtle neck, fixing your little silver necklace and fiddling with the pockets of your black jeans, you wondered if Klitz was actually going to show up or if you were going to be sat there looking like a total idiot.
"Hey Y/n." Klitz greeted you as he mentally face palmed himself for being late.
"Hey...Klitz." You awkwardly greeted him back.
"Oh golly, god I am so sorry for being late. The truth is I was asking for advice from my friends and-"
"It's okay Klitz, don't worry," You reassured him as you laughed at his use of the word 'golly'.
"So..."
-
You two had been at the diner for nearly an hour and you both were currently walking back to your house.
"Do you um- Would you like to do this again?" Klitz asked you as he fidgeted with the hem of his long shirt. "Of course I really enjoyed today." You informed him with a smile.
You two had reached your house.
"Text me when your free next time, okay?"
"O-okay."
Standing on your tip toes, you placed a hand on Klitz's chest to steady yourself as you placed a delicate kiss on his round cheek.
"I'll see you tomorrow Klitz."
Giving him one last smile, you walked into your house leaving Klitz with a red face and a thumping heart.

lily evans' star wars opinions (modern lily since she only lived through the first two films):
thinks leia organa is the best character in existence. no one does it like her. ultimate icon and so is carrie fisher.
luke skywalker is gay. she doesn't particularly care about shipping him with a specific person, he's just gay.
yoda lowkey sucks.
grogu is the cutest ever. grogu and mando>>> (she is a pedro pascal fan)
eagerly awaiting the ahsoka series 🧍‍♂️
ships sabedala and doesn't like anidala (her and sirius fight about this on a daily basis)
actually likes c3po ("it's a scary situation that he's been dragged in, he has a right to be scared!")
likes kylo ren 🙄🙄
VERY attracted to lando. she is in love with the man.
VERY attracted to cara dune. she is in love with the woman.
prefers the political parts of star wars to the fighting parts (has indeed wrote an essay about how it's the roman republic)
very good at arguing rey is a skywalker, she brings in family trees and charts
took a class on lightsaber duelling and literally beats everyone now
absolutely adores star wars: rebels
doesn't understand why people hate jar jar binks, he's just a lil guy
will gladly go on rants about slave!leia. she abhors it.
is very much a rebel kinda fan, like her favourite parts is the rebellion and the building of it, her favourite characters are rebels, if she was in the star wars universe she'd be a rebel
100% has that david bowie/leia rebel rebel poster (as well as like. half the marauders)

SF Debris has no idea who Lily is. He has never spoken to her or about her or even to or about people she knows. He's primarily a Star Trek content makers so all of his fandom friends are sci-fi fandom content creators, not anyone Lily knows. I wouldn't be surprised if to this day he has never heard of her.
But because he doesn't like Star Trek Voyager's inconsistent character writing (which disproportionately effected POC characters) and has called out the writers for excusing murder a few times in the narrative as well as not having queer characters in the cast, he's an evil predator who's lying about his sexuality.
It makes Lily making her predatory "I violated you while you were sleeping" character ace even worse, honestly. This is how she views ace people IRL and in fiction and that's so fucked up. Ace people go through so much bullshit daily from outside the queer community, they shouldn't be getting attacked from inside it, too.
Meanwhile in SF Debris' review of Star Wars Online he discussed how he headcanons Vector as asexual and aromantic due to the whole "put in an arranged marriage, hated it but went along due to social pressure, amicably divorced now" thing and talked about how society pressures people into trying to warp themselves into something they're not and like... that's more ace-positive content than Lily's ever put out. Him talking about how you should live your truth rather than sacrificing your happiness for the sake of others is something more progressive than I've ever heard from Lily. I got teary eyed during that because it's so clear to me that he supports queer people living their lives as we want and he says it like it's the most normal, natural thing in the world and having grown up in a fundamental Christian sect I really needed to hear that.
This is why he's had a fandom for 20 years online and was awarded Teacher of the Year twice at the middle school he used to teach at, and Lily's fandom is dying out barely 10 years in. Empathy and calm, reasoned out discussion is just better than screaming. You have to wonder if Lily's not jealous of the guy.
(Granted SF Debris has had moments of screaming, but only when a piece of media excuses pedophilia or rape. Given he's a parent and his wife is a CSA survivor, that's 100% a reasonable reaction to have on his part imo.)
justifiable anger is very much different than making "hatewatching" your entire brand. in any case, LO should have never say anything like that about any person. people's identities or experiences are not everyone's business and she has no right to openly especulate like that about either in front of her audience, just because she can't imagine a existence where she isn't horny for every person that is nice enough to her. but come out with a rant like... simply because of a difference of opinion about a show? that's low and completely uncalled for.

Okay this is my first time ever posting something like this here and it's about to be long af and probably very sappy.
(Reddit style post)
Tumblr media
So I,  26(F), am heavily crushing on this guy 24(M) at work. We work in a pretty big hospital but in different departments. He's the head of the clinic right across from mine (I'm also in charge of my own clinic).
This crush actually came out of nowhere. I've seen him around the hospital ever since he got there (I've been there longer than he has) and I see his name a lot on certain little "committees". The earliest memory I have of ever interacting with him was back when I was still working in the Emergency Department and he was up at the MedSurg floors. I was transporting a patient upstairs after sending the report and all I can remember from my interaction with him was "Glasses". I'm really good with faces, not so much with names.
After that, I would see him here and there like the cafeteria, the lobbies, the hallways, elevators, even the committees that he and I will unknowingly both be in. He was never on my radar at all (mostly because I was also in a relationship with someone at the time).
We didn't really start actually knowing each other until his best friend/roommate (who's also the head of another department) invited me to a Murder Mystery party at their house.
At this point, I was closer to his roommate (we'll call him Jack (28M)) than I was to him even though Jack got to the hospital a few months after he did (we'll call Crush boy "Ben"). Jack and I got to know each other because I would cross over to his department to steal ice chips daily for my own consumption. Anyway, Jack added me on Facebook and invited me to a Halloween themed Murder Mystery party this year. Of course I said yes because 1) I get to dress up and 2) I LOVE Murder Mysteries.
Sorry, getting derailed. Anyway, Jack and his wife opened up their house to a few friends for this party. I think that was when I started noticing him a little bit. I was in full monster make up and Ben was the investigator. One of my objectives was to talk to his character yaddi yaddi yadda.
With me being the competitive person that I am, I started knocking out my objectives and approached him. We got talking and I noticed that he was actually pretty cute. Not just in the physical sense, but his little mannerisms and such were very endearing. But not wanting to be distracted, I moved on to my list (I eventually figured it out and won best costume).
With the game over, Jack, a few others and I were sitting around the kitchen island just talking about work related things (I was ranting about my boss and Jack was talking about one of his problem employees who I happened to know as well). Ben walked in with his costume Saber prop in hand and just listened in to our conversations. From work topics, we moved on to things we liked to do in our spare time. I mentioned that I love Star Wars (which Jack knew) and watching certain TV shows. I mentioned a few that Ben was also watching so he was able to join in on the conversations. We all talked until it was time to go.
Right before we left, I went to go use the restroom and after coming out, I noticed a Stormtrooper helmet with a unique design on it. I mentioned how cool I found it to Jack but he told me it wasn't his. It was Ben's. At the sound of his name, Ben peeked around the corner while messing with his props and it was at that moment that I felt my body feel like tv static. All of a sudden, my heart started pounding and my palms started sweating and he was all I could see. Immediately I was like "oh sh*t".
It's been downhill ever since. Now every time I see him at work, I get nervous and I either want to run the other direction or make fun of him. I have literally turned into a high schooler with a giant crush on someone she shouldn't be crushing on.
We ran into him one time at the Info desk and I casually threw in the invitation to my best friend's (we'll call her Rinny (24F)) birthday. I invited both him and Jack but it was completely innocent (he and Rinny met through the flu drive which he helped out at and Rinny was spearheading it). When he found out the time, he was all "that's so late. I have a bed time." See whenever guys say this, I usually understand it as a polite way of saying thank you but no thanks. So I let it go. When I mentioned the party to Jack, he said the same thing too but asked if we wanted to do a birthday dinner on a different day. I brought it up to Rinny and she said she was down for it so I said yes. And then Jack asked if he could bring Ben. Honestly I should've said NO because my dumbass was trying to sort out why Ben was making me feel things but I didn't want to be rude so I said "sure."
So me being the dumbass that I am, drank a lil ol' liquid courage so I wouldn't spazz out and be nervous and next thing I know I was Chatty Cathy who didn't know what Personal Bubble was. I was super embarrassed and apologized after to Jack to let Ben know (I didn't have Ben's phone number or socials or anything at the time). Jack reassured me that I had nothing to apologize for and that if Ben was really uncomfortable, he would've pushed me away. Fair.
Fast forward to now. It's been almost 2months of me feeling like this and I'm still free falling like I'm back in high school. I've had 2 relationships and I just got out of a 1year weird situationship (I've been "single" since May of this year) and yet none of them has made me feel like Ben has. Everyone is telling me to go for it and to just tell him to his face but I don't want to make things even more awkward than they already are. I don't want to date anyone because I'm trying to sort out my own baggage and he hasn't dated anyone either for more than a year (everyone has confirmed that he's been single this whole time). I dont want to just hook up with him either because he's a genuine great guy and I'm not really that person that can do random hook-ups.
Oh and the kicker? He knows I like him. I'm not subtle at all. I overheard a conversation with him and Jack where Jack said "hey your cute secret admirer stopped by my office today" and I had just told Ben that I came from annoying Jack. Cue me lamenting my fate.
So yes. I am down bad for this man. I can't shut up about him. Every time I see him, my day brightens a bit. If I'm in a bad mood, it lessens when he talks to me. But I know he doesn't feel the same way. The vibes aren't vibing on his end and I am completely okay with that. I'm satisfied with just a friendship between us. Besides, I'm leaving in 6months to a whole new country because I accepted a job offer there wayyyy before this whole thing with Ben started.
Just needed to get all of that off my chest because I feel like I'm going insane and Rinny is tired of me talking about him constantly when I don't intend of making any moves.

Ok, help me God, bc I don't 100% understand Garou's beliefs, but from what I understand he is trying to be the "symbol of fear" in order to scare people into doing good? Kinda like how Hell/the Devil does for Catholics etc? Not to quote star wars, but dealing with absolutes like that is virtually impossible. It's also a horrible idea in general. There's no way in hell you can actually generate any genuine goodness or nobility through fear because ultimately any good act is just going to be motivated by fear. If said fear is gone, then they'd just go back into doing horrible things, if people would even stop to begin with. It's an extremely naive mindset.
Correct me if I'm wrong though, just what does Garoy represent in the story? What is abt Saitama makes Garou that "anti-Saitama"?
I can distill Garou's philosophy very simply. It's a head-buster, which is why almost nobody gets it despite his saying it again and again. It's:
WHO IS GOING TO PUNISH THE GOOD?
It's not like everybody is beautiful and kind and wonderful to each other and it's only a few nasty people making things awful for everyone. People who are recognised as bad are punished for sure, monsters are slaughtered if they set a claw in inhabited areas, but there's a whole panoply of bullying, discrimination, nastiness, neglect, built in inequality, conflict, that doesn't rise to the level of crime. Heroes don't touch that shit and yet it's the source of the daily misery of the world.
Tumblr media
So Garou came up with an idea fresh from his father's belt strap: PUNISH EVERYONE SO NO ONE STEPS OUT OF LINE. Just as you stop bickering with your siblings if your dad is sleeping after coming back from the night shift and will thrash you all mercilessly if he's disturbed, so if everyone is sufficiently scared of him, they'll cease to be nasty to one another.
Tumblr media
And that's why he started with attacking heroes. Not because they've done anything wrong. In fact, the better they are, the MORE MEANINGFUL his attacking them is. How better to convince people that he's a terrifying monster than by attacking good people no one hates and indeed looks to to keep them safe?
Yes, Mumen Rider is precisely the best hero for him to beat up.
Tumblr media
Is this the rantings of a child? Yup. There's a part of him that does know better, the part of him that wants to be a hero but is afraid to. Unfortunately, Garou is just too tragically strong and has been able to start enacting it rather than having to sit and think seriously about what he really wants.
It was always going to be an unmitigated disaster.
The problem is... Garou does not seem to have yet understood what's wrong with his thinking. At the minimum he hasn't rejected the idea that you can improve things by adding unnecessary cruelty to the situation.
I guess that's going to be Part 2 of this saga.

TOO LATE: Musk throws Ye off Twitter, but the damage has been done
STEPHANIE BAZZLEDECEMBER 2, 2022
Kanye West has been removed from Twitter yet again, following his antisemitic (and in fact, pro-Hitler and pro-Nazi) rant Wednesday, despite new twitlord Elon Musk’s promises about banning.
Ye appeared on Alex Jones’ show to talk about his persecution complex, specifically to complain about Donald Trump and his representatives speaking out against West and Nick Fuentes following a dinner they attended at Mar-a-Lago.
Unfortunately, Jones tried to elevate Ye by comparing him (favorably, in case there’s any question) to Hitler, and West responded by going off on a tangent about all the things he loves about Hitler and Nazis.
It was finally a bridge too far for many, with even House Republicans deciding to pull back some of their recent vocal support for the man who’s said he’ll challenge Trump for the 2024 Presidential nomination.
It may have been one straw too many for Twitter, too.
Ye returned to Twitter, where he posted an image of a Star of David with a swastika inside it, then shared what appeared to be a screenshot of text messages between himself and Musk, with Musk warning he was going too far.
Before his account was suspended, Ye tweeted out a photo of Musk being sprayed with a water hose, captioning it, “Let’s always remember this as my final tweet,” and adding the hashtag, “#ye24.”
Musk responded to the tweet, saying, “That is fine,” but after Ye’s suspension, he followed up with another tweet, insisting that he didn’t suspend West’s account over hurt feelings:
A screenshot of Ye’s final tweet and Musk’s response is below.
Though Ye’s account is gone, an archived copyshows some of these posts, and other Twitter users saved and shared screenshots showing the text messages he shared.

The warning from Musk was terse, simply reading, “Sorry, but you have gone too far. This is not love.”
Before going on to post a taunting photo, Ye apparently replied, “Who made you the judge?”

DISNEY VILLAIN: Looks like DeSantis is losing his culture war against the big mouse
STEPHANIE BAZZLEDECEMBER 2, 2022
In Florida Governor Ron DeSantis’ narrative, Disney was the villain for standing up to his anti-LGBTQ tactics — but his efforts to take down the entertainment giant were laughably unsuccessful, and a new agreement may cancel out his legislative vengeance.
When DeSantis pushed legislation attacking teachers and the LGBTQ community, Disney spoke up, and DeSantis responded by declaring that the company could no longer have the longstanding ability to run Walt Disney World Resort as its own city.
He campaigned on the legislation, declaring Disney “woke” and saying that it didn’t deserve special dispensation in his state.
However, DeSantis won his re-election, and the fight with Disney no longer seems to be at the top of his priority list.
Now Florida lawmakers are working out a deal with the corporation that would essentially restore the resort to its city status.
Meanwhile, DeSantis has moved on to other battles, keeping up with the GOP war on anything and everything that conservatives see as too woke, too progressive, or too inclusive.
His latest corporate enemy is Apple, which he said should have to answer to Congress if they make the business decision to boot Twitter off the appstore over concerns about identity theft and security.
From theNew York Times:
DeSantis did weigh in on returning Disney CEO, Bob Iger’s statements about the company being “dragged into” the debate, seeming to affirm that the legislation removing Disney’s tax status was punitive, as he told Tucker Carlson that it was all Disney’s doing for involving their company in his state’s business.
He insisted that the original legislation, rather than endangering LGBTQ children by removing potential allies, actually protects the rights of parents.
You can see that clip below.

Why I’ll Never Watch She-Hulk
I had an idea earlier for a post roughly asking “What’s really wrong with Star Wars? What’s the real issue? What’s the key underlying problem that’s messing 50% of Star Wars content up?” But then a friend sent me a 15 min YouTube video in which a guy basically went through She-Hulk episode one and brilliantly compiled everything wrong with the storytelling. And I decided “Why not cover this right now since She-Hulk is actually relevant and a perfect example of what not to do?”
And let me clarify something. This isn’t just me watching a video and automatically agreeing. I tried to watch Episode 1 of She-Hulk a few days after it released, and could not get into it. I turned it off within 5 minutes. That being said, let’s get into the analysis, and feel free to watch the video (linked below) if you wish to see the context for my breakdown.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5LQ7B4TFOu4&t=755
1. Character Sympathy. This was a huge part of the video’s focus. Jennifer wasn’t a likeable character at all. Right off the bat, as the video states, she easily overcomes her first challenge. We’ve established that she’s capable, not that she’s relatable, or human, or anything of the sort. A major connection with the audience gone/wasted. But I want to expand on that. A lot of character sympathy comes from individuality. When something stands out, we become interested, when we’re seeing something we’ve already seen a million times, we gloss over it. Jennifer Walters is by no means an original character. I couldn’t find anything about her ethnicity, so maybe she has an ethnic background...? But all I could tell was “White girl”, so she’s already mixed with the majority of MCU heroes at this point. She’s female, but we already have a solid roster of female heroes in the MCU, so Marvel has to do more than that to make her special. She’s a Hulk, so yeah, nothing new. Dark hair and brown eyes, so no standout physical features, although I guess her hair being curly is cool...not original though. Nothing about Jennifer Walters screams “I’m new! Like me!” It just screams “I’m a generic superhero who’s just here to fill the Disney+ schedule gaps.” And yeah, as the video establishes, she doesn’t garner sympathy as being an underdog. She’s just...well...successful. At the height of her life
2. Character Contradictions. I didn’t even know about this rant until today, but apparently at the end of the first episode, Jennifer Walters goes off at Bruce Banner about how she knows all about containing her rage because she does it daily...because of all these ways men are oppressing people...and directly mentions “murder” as a potential consequence if she can’t contain it? Ben Shapiro actually got confused at this line and showed statistics. On an annual basis, there are roughly 17,000 homicides. 3,000 of those are female, 14,000 are male. I googled on my own volition and statistics indicated that roughly 80-81% of homicide victims are male, which is slightly less than Shapiro’s 83% statistic, but close enough to solidly say “Hey, uh, Jennifer...you’re exaggerating.” But another focal point is that in the beginning of the episode, she is criticized by a male coworker and he’s quickly kicked out of her office...? Male oppression, Jennifer? Really? Furthermore, she ends up a bar in the first episode, and what I get out of the video is that Jennifer basically beats the guys up before they make any real moves...yes...excellent at controlling rage, and you’re more likely to get murdered...for sure...I mean, sure, they were harassing you, but when I’m “oppressed” or challenged on my Discord server, I don’t even think about making a joke about them dying, let alone threatening to dox them or beat them up or anything to harm them or their image, let alone actually beat them to a pulp. Life is uncomfortable, folks, and violence is never the answer
And that’s all I’m going to say about it. I have other thoughts, but nothing is well-formulated because, as I’ve already said, I never finished the first episode. This is all going off of what I have seen about She-Hulk
So  yeah. That, my friends, is why I will never watch this infamous show

Things From Canon I Lean Into/Expand:
Eric and Donna:
-Eric and Donna disagreeing politically in "An Eric Forman Christmas," between neoliberal symbolism (the "wise women" comment) and conservative dogma (the ask the guy who wrote the bible comment). I can see Eric moving left a bit as he gets older, but neoliberal symbolism still gets him to engage with some social conservatism impulses on occasion.
And Donna begins to see beyond neoliberal symbolism as she leaves home, goes to college, and experiences the world around her a little more. Yeah, representation is great, but will that diverse coalition fight for progressive policies? Or not, and tow the establishment line?
-Eric being a self-righteous history buff in season 3's "Who Wants It More." Combined with loving GI Joes, he's a history buff in general, and is particularly interested in WWII (as shown by his Hitler comment in season 5, and the fact he read Sophie's Choice in season 4 [since the movie didn't come out until 1982]) and early Cold War stuff (as shown in Who Wants It More).
-Eric stated he wanted a boat in season 6's "Christmas." I combine this with his love of Styx, with the song "Come Sail Away." And he's an avid boater…well, once he can afford it, that is. He totally wants to travel the world on a sailboat, a prospect which Donna is less than enthused about.
-Eric's fascination with superheroes, Spiderman in particular. He wants to be a hero in real life. Kind of like his father, but in a totally different way. Like his mother, as he helps others.
-Red's father (and Eric's grandfather) Albert was into photography, and had his own dark room. Eric tried his hand at being a documentary filmmaker in season 7. Peter Parker is a photographer for the Daily Bugle. Click, click, click.
-Donna refusing to wear a bikini to promote WFPP in season 7. Along with the Take Back the Night protest, it's her first inklings of real-world activism and protesting the status quo. Or a load of bullshit. Whatever you may prefer.
-Eric becoming a teacher. No, T9S, not a professor of freaking Star Wars. History, astronomy, biology (he was particularly impressed by that deer in "Hunting," okay?), etc. Character-wise, it totally makes sense. Now, if only canon built it up properly…
So I'm doing it, because that's how an insightful writer rolls. He was worried about the welfare of Kitty's patients in Career Day. He (and Kitty) convinced Red to allow Hyde to leave under the Forman roof. He's helped his friends on numerous occasions. He's the Dad of the group that brings everyone together. Plus, he can help others; particularly, kids who struggle like he did, back in the day.
-Eric's a good shot, as shown in "Hunting." Like his father. It's innate, for the most part, and he would make a killer archer. In my verse, Leah's innately a good shot, too. And loves archery.
-Eric loves bacon, pancakes, and waffles. He learns how to make them, at some pt, and makes a grand slam of a breakfast. Eggs and all. A bit of his mother came in from somewhere.
-Donna says "back east" late in season 3, in regards to talking about her future with (or without) Eric. Combined with the fact her Uncle Carmine lives in Hoboken, her family's from northern New Jersey. She was born there, but moved to Point Place when she was really, really little.
Jackie and Hyde:
-Hyde's rant on religion in season 2, which establishes his cynicism towards religion in general. He's agnostic, and since Jackie's more religious, they often clash when it comes to the kids. In my verse, James is a firm atheist, and Jackie blames Hyde, so…
-Hyde's "I don't hate bowling" comment in season 3's "Jackie Bags Hyde." He and Jackie love to go bowling together.
-Hyde asks in season 5 why Jackie can't make money for herself, instead of relying on a man. Jackie eventually, through trial and error, takes this to heart. And finds success in her own right.
-Jackie dumps her vapid cheerleading "friends" in the season 6 Christmas ep. She learns the value of true friendship, and this carries into her adult life. Yeah, she plays the game sometimes, but all in all? She's loyal to the people who care about her.
-Jackie and Hyde debate about the meaning of success in our society late in season 7. Hyde states that the guy who can't do anything rises to the top, whereas the guy who works his ass off gets nothing, and Jackie asks, are you the guy who works his ass off? Implying the guy who works his ass off should get to the top. Jackie believes in a meritocracy, and Hyde firmly disagrees.
-Jackie and Hyde playing chess together. They love playing chess, even into their old age.
-Jackie being a budding mechanic. No, "eww grease" from season 7. It makes her more complex, and I love it.
Other:
-In season 5's Thanksgiving ep, Kitty states that Laurie is evil like her mother (I'm paraphrasing). So that's where the evil comes from. Nature overrules nurture in this case, if you will.
-Kurtwood Smith is left-handed, and hence, so is Red. I like tossing that trait onto a grandkid; in my main verse, it's Leah.
-Red's political ideology in seasons 1 and 2. He's loyal to his country, but he's willing to call shit out when it stinks. He's a major protectionist and a firm believer in the constitution. Which is why his characterization in season 5 makes no sense, because what he describes with the tracking devices and defending Nixon's wrongdoings (even though in season 1, he was pissed about Ford pardoning Nixon)? Both are firmly unconstitutional. Hence, he'd be against the Patriot Act, but for the Iraq War. He has little patience with international bodies, most of the time. He's a firm believer of political sovereignty, imo.
-Kelso knowing sign language in season 5 (I think). His younger brother, Aaron, is deaf.
-Fez liking Stevie Wonder, as stated in season 3's "Dine and Dash." Which I expand to R&B in general. He loves the songs "Lovely Day" by Bill Withers and "I Can't Help Myself" by the Four Tops.
The journals from T7S's website are technically canon, so…
-Eric and Donna share clothes. All the time. Particularly sweatshirts and flannels.
-Jackie makes mixtapes for Hyde all the time, whether he likes it or not.

Werckmeister Harmonies [Werckmeister harmóniák] (2000)
Tumblr media
Lars Rudolph as János Valuska is the ultimate vessel of pathos. János wanders the streets of a small, anonymous Hungarian village, performing various odd jobs: he delivers newspapers, aids his elderly uncle in daily tasks, and only ever takes time for himself as an afterthought. He refers to everyone as ‘aunt’ or ‘uncle’ seemingly regardless of their blood relation to him, and most elders in this community view him with affection or at least see him as useful. But there are stirrings of unrest about. A circus arrives in town: János witnesses a tractor pulling a mammoth trailer, a hulking metal beast of corrugated metal far too large for what the vehicle should be able to pull. It passes camera and János alike, arresting for both, ponderous in size, overwhelming and strange. Posters promise a wondrous giant whale and a figure known only as the Prince. Equally jarringly, Tünde Eszter, the estranged wife of Uncle György, the pianist to whom János attends, suddenly returns. She brings fearful news of the zealous hordes that accompany this circus and demands that György use his influence in the village to put together a petition to “clean things up.” Initially these mobs seem the stuff of rumor and nothing more, but soon enough János stumbles on rough outsiders surrounding the whale trailer. It becomes clear that this pair—János and György—are trapped between warring pedagogues. György is opinionated and fiercely independent, railing about the loss of music’s sacred nature in equal temperament of pitch, abandoning the holy uncertainties of natural pitch. Our ears accept it due to years of indoctrination, but it is impure. János is something of an innocent or holy fool. He dreams of the cosmos, a star map on his bedroom wall. He regales drunks at a bar with an accounting of the solar system in the opening scene, using them to make a living model, boozers revolving around one another. But there is darkness to come for these two dissidents as mob mentality overruns the town. The whale whips the mob into a frenzy, decried as demonic by Tünde, but János sees in it only beauty. Though this rage is too powerful, sweeping everyone along. Resistance is a fragile wheel, easily broken under the wheel of a tyrannical majority.
THE RULES
SIP

The Talent Pool HA! TV Comedy Network 1990
"Performance Artist" was the term of art in the late 80s. As producer Christine Ecklund remembers co-creator Albie Hecht's definition, "...longer form material, no joke tellers. A downtown feel."
Monologist Spalding Gray had a hipster success with his performance piece (and eventual film) "Swimming to Cambodia." His recitation of his travel, writing and acting experiences, mixed pathos and humor to engaged audiences for several years in New York theater.
When MTV Networks launched HA! in 1990 we pitched channel head Debby Beece that among Gray's contemporaries were humorists with the goods that would hone the network's reputation with up and coming talent.
"The Talent Pool", an anthology of performance artists, set up shop in midtown Manhattan's Lamb's Theatre, site of a beautiful gospel brunch, and started casting. Between Chauncey Street and the network we settled on a pretty stellar bunch (pictured above from the top):
• John Leguizamo is a writer and actor who went on to win four Tony Awards, appear in over 100 films, and whose Columbian/Latino roots and community are always up front.
• Lewis Black, who's angry rants about history, politics, religion, and cultural trends eventually gave him a regular perch on "The Daily Show."
• Jim Turner became a star when MTV presented him as his creation ‘Randee of the Redwoods’, and later acted in movies and TV.
• Frank Maya was one of the first openly gay performers to gain a foothold in mainstream stand-up comedy, who sadly passed away from AIDS in 1995.
• Danitra Vance was a comedian and actress who came to great attention in the 1985 season of "Saturday Night Live." She was on The Talent Pool during her diagnosis and eventual death from breast cancer. She was awarded with an Obie and NAACP Image Award.
• Chucklehead was a troupe whose comedy addressed fears of the Cold War, entropy, mortality, and the likelihood not enough tickets would be sold at their shows.
• Julie Hayden was a delightful writer and actress who was later in Ben Stiller's "The Cable Guy" with Jim Carrey, She was finding her way in the TV pilot season when she died of cancer in 1997.
• Jeffrey Essman (not pictured) is often referred to as avant-garde, but he’s a hilarious writer, an often costumed performer and, a Benedictine monk.
• Barry Yourgrau (not pictured), a South African born writer and performer, has published several books and whose fictions have appeared in the New Yorker, Paris Review, VICE, Bomb, Poetry, Film Comment.
The show wasn't particularly highly rated, but we were completely taken by each of our fantastic cast and heartened when so many of them went on to highly visible and acclaimed careers. .....
