Rewatching the kenobi show...
Damn that first episode is so good
Like I forgot how good it really was.
It sets up perfectly how Obi is beat down, haunted by his past, and fixated on "protecting" Luke. But let's be real, at this point Luke isn't Luke to him, but merely Anakins 2.0. He watches from a distance and sees Luke mimicking flying...just like Anakin always did. I think people tend to forget that Anakin was 9 when Obi Wan started training him, when he says "obi wan is like a father to me" he MEANS it. Obi Wan is watching Luke and thinking of the little boy he not only trained, but raised. He wants to be let into his life and train Luke like he did his father. But Owen knows that would put Luke in danger so he pushes Obi Wan away, making sure Luke stays far away from the call of adventure.
So Obi Wan repeats his daily cycle, work, eat, deal with Jawas, dream of his mistakes, and watch Luke, hoping that he'll see Anakin, hoping that he'll get a second chance to train a Skywalker to bring back balance.
And then there's Leia. (LITTLE LEIA I LOVE YOU SO MUCH!!!) a princess who doesn't fit in, she's adopted and doubts her place, she's smart witted and quick to call people out (padme), she's emotionally intelligent far beyond her years (ok super strong in the force leia). She's has so much potential and her parents love her so much. And then she's kidnapped.
And now Obi Wan has to help, even though it means pulling himself out of his depression and self-cripling cycle. He has to help, he knows it, because she's Anakins just as much as Luke is. And as he journeys with her he gains Hope again.
Obi wan may have been leias only hope, but he was only able to be because she gave him that hope back in the first place.

Over the last week, I decided to go ahead with bookmarking all the fics I've recommended over the years on AO3 since I abide by tumblr poll results always (and man pour one out for all the fic that never made it to AO3 or has since been deleted, sooooo many gems lost to time!) and it was a bit more than the ~3,000 I was expecting:
Tumblr media
Hopefully, this will be easier than browsing the hundreds of recs posts I've made, since you can filter for any of the author's tags now! These are mostly focused on Star Wars and DC fandom, but I did my time in the anime mines and occasional tours through some TV fandoms or movies. You can dig into everything unfiltered and start your own filtering, or the bigger fandoms you'll find:
MAJOR FANDOMS: Each of these should have 100+ at minimum and, in the case of Star Wars, literally almost half of them are in that fandom. Look, Star Wars fandom might be a trash fire in a lot of ways, but it is ON FIRE with some good fic. (Older bookmarks not guaranteed to match my current sentiments, especially re: the Jedi, but they did catch my fancy at that point in time!)
STAR WARS: - All Star Wars -OR- All Star Wars minus the Obi-Wan/Anakin ship - OR- Nothing BUT Obi-Wan/Anakin
BATMAN/DC: - DC can sometimes be tricky, but you can do a Batman* search and get most of them (though, sometimes Nightwing* or Young Justice* or Superman* will catch some of the others). Honestly, though, you might want to just do a search for what character or dynamic you like and have fun from there, because otherwise you're getting a face full of my Dick Grayson Is The Center Of The Universe And I'm Making That Everyone Else's Problem agenda. ;)
MARVEL/MCU: - Marvel* will probably get most of the various properties, though you may want to filter for Defenders* or Guardians of the Galaxy* if you're interested -OR- Marvel* without the Thor/Loki - These focus a lot on the Thor* fandom if you want to witness the results of like 8 years of constant voracious reading in that fandom (Minus the ship), because, seriously, I read a LOT of Odinson family fic. - Bonus, just do a search for Maximoff* to find some really good X-Men: First Class-verse because, listen, I have been ALL ABOUT the Maximoff twins since long before the movies or MCU brought them over and I will DIE ON THE HILL of "Marvel, make Magneto their bio-dad again or I'm never reading another comic of yours ever".
TOLKIEN/LORD OF THE RINGS/SILMARILLION/HOBBIT: - Tolkien* -OR- Hobbit* -OR- Lord of the Rings* searches will turn up most of my Elf-hunting, I primarily focus on the Sindar Elves, but look I can't resist my problematic Feanorian faves or that I will die on the hill that Fingolfin is the best ever. (You have NO IDEA how sad I am that so much fic on Stories of Arda or FFNET is not easily bookmarked on AO3, sob. I externally bookmarked a few of the bigger ones, but sooo many shorter faves are missing from my recs tag.)
CLAMP: - X/Tokyo Babylon legitimately bums me out because it's not a huge fandom and yet so much of what was written was pre-AO3 and lost when CLAMPesque went down or was never brought over from Livejournal, yet this fandom (well, the Seishirou/Subaru pairing) still burns brightly in my heart.
MINOR FANDOMS: Ones that probably only have under 100 bookmarks (often around the 20-30 bookmarks range), but will at least give you a place to start! ANIME/MANGA: Bleach | Cardcaptor Sakura | Dragonball | Finder no Hyouteki/Viewfinder | Katekyou Hitman Reborn! | Kuroko no Basuke | One Piece | Sailor Moon | Madoka Magica | Naruto | Princess Tutu | Trigun | Weiss Kreuz | Yuri!!! on Ice
BOOKS: Chrestomanci | Omniscient Reader's Viewpoint
DRAMAS: Nirvana in Fire | The Untamed -OR- Modao Zu Shi
TV SHOWS/MOVIES: Community | Game of Thrones -OR- ASOIAF | Good Omens | Hannibal | Highlander | The Old Guard | Our Flag Means Death | Stranger Things
VIDEO GAMES: Dragon Age: Inquisition | Final Fantasy 8 | Genshin Impact | Okami
BANDS: Arashi
All right, whew, that was actually a fun project, despite how much work it was to hunt down a lot of older faves to see if they were on AO3, hopefully you'll find this useful!

I was watching the Clone Wars featurette about the Holocron arc and Dave talks about the scene where Bane threatens to kill Ahsoka. He says "we're seeing a dark side of Anakin, and in a very clear illustration of why Jedi should not have attachments, we see that attachment get exploited." So clearly at what point in time he understood the whole attachment thing. What happened?
Unlike Karen Traviss, I think Dave Filoni actually understands what "attachment" means, in Star Wars. Apparently, it's the Star Wars theme that he and George spoke the most about.
"The biggest area of the Force and the Jedi [that] George and I have gotten into discussing the whole deal with attachments. And, arguably, that's what Anakin whole life is hinged on, is this - like you've mentioned - he has a lot of attachments to Artoo and how how right or wrong is that? Is it that the Jedi have made themselves dispassionate, that they are actually deceived by the Sith and they fall apart?" - Dave Filoni, Rebel Force Radio, 2012
What I've noticed is that, while understanding the meaning of attachment... Filoni doesn't seem to agree that the Jedi embody the concept of compassion.
He has acknowledged sometimes that "attachment is bad" is the theme of Anakin's story (but question if it's really so bad, unlike Lucas who says it's understandable but bad) but disagrees that the Prequel Jedi represent the obvious counter-theme, "compassion is good."
If you read what Filoni says, he argues that:
The Jedi have lost their way, taken the "rid yourself of attachment" rule and pushed it to an extreme where they've rid themselves of any empathy and thus compassion. They've focused so much on being selfless that they've forgotten how to love.
All except for Qui-Gon, who is the only one that truly knows how to love without getting attached, to love selflessly.
And personally, that strikes me as a coping headcanon, a way of reconciling the theme and feeling the Jedi like Mace, Ki-Adi, even Yoda and Obi-Wan are stoic, unlikable and too different from Luke.
Sure, they're not perfect, but nowhere in the films is the Jedi's stance on love framed as "bad" by the narrative. The narrative agrees with their philosophy, and George echoes it.
In fact, among 772 collected George Lucas quotes, I've never seen him state that theme while adding the asterisk that "of course, the Jedi of the Prequels have forgotten how to be compassionate, except for Qui-Gon who was the true Jedi."
And of course he doesn't do that. Because doesn't that muddy the waters so much?
Supposing Qui-Gon truly is the only character that embodies the concept of "compassion"... doesn't killing him off in the first film confuse a targeted audience of children?
Bearing in mind that the Prequels are about how greed makes people and institutions become the very thing they swear to destroy, and Star Wars as a whole is about being selfless instead of selfish:
In one corner, we have Anakin and the Senate showing what you're not supposed to do.
In the other, you got Padmé, Shmi and the Jedi, showing you what you should do instead.
Simple. I can see a kid getting this (and I did). But according to Filoni, that second point is incorrect. Instead, it's:
In the other, we have... Qui-Gon, who is one of the first film's four protagonists that dies at the end, without openly stating anything about the trilogy's theme. Theoretically, there's the Jedi who state and address the theme, but they don't themselves embody it so they don't count. So really... in this corner we have nobody (?)
That seems overly complex, a whole lotta hoops to jump through. Doesn't make sense. But hey, good luck learning the lesson, kids.
So yeah, Dave Filoni gets what attachment means. He just doesn't think it's as bad as Lucas' films frame it as, and disagrees on the Jedi narratively embodying the concept of compassion.
And I think it's coping. It's connecting non-existent dots, Always Sunny-style, to justify not liking characters that weren't meant to be developed much, due to their calm, collected nature and secondary/tertiary role in the story.
Coping and coming up with headcanons are what any irritated Star Wars fan does when they're confronted with something they're unable to make sense of.
“I care because I passionately believe that important stories ought to make sense.” As well you should—and when a story does not, you apply that passion to finding a way to make it make sense. [...] When a rational and inquisitive mind is confronted by the engaging yet irrational, it often responds in this manner. This process is not usually appreciated by those undergoing it; the most common reaction is a deep irritation. But isn’t that always how pearls are formed?” - Don DeBrandt, Star Wars on Trial, 2006
Unless they choose to make documentaries and click-baity YouTube video where they decide to spew hate and get angry pointlessly. Which I'd argue is still worse.

Been mulling this over and I finally decided to be a shit stirrer today. I don't write bottom Obi-Wan for multiple reasons and I'm going to be meanly honest in a way I don't think I've ever been on here.
I just don't like it most the time, I think the predominant amount of fandom uwu mommy bottomWan takes are wildly out of character, sometimes outright ridiculous, and a lot of it gives me the ick. But for all of you guys who DO like it, I'm happy for you, I'm so glad you guys have lots of brilliant writers who do write what you prefer or enjoy, and I couldn't be happier to share this ship with you guys.
But here's my problem. I don't know what it is about this demographic of obikin fans and I know, believe me I know it's not all bottom Obi-Wan fans, but boy is there a vocal chunk that has put a bad taste in my mouth. No, I don't want to fucking write it, or certainly not in the way you want. No, I don't agree with you, and no I don't appreciate people who prefer bottom Obi-Wan whining in my inbox or in other authors' and artists' inboxes that awwww jeeee I really would enjoy your writing more if you'd just write it exactly how I want. There are PLENTY of brilliant obikin authors who are wonderfully talented and who I deeply respect who DO write what you guys like, so WHY in god's fucking name, is there a very loud chunk of bottomwan fans who are constantly making trouble for fellow fans in the same godamn ship who approach it or enjoy different aspects than them?
I'm sure there are obikins who prefer bottom Anakin who are just as bad and annoying and problem causing, but it certainly feels like the most vocal are in a different camp. Guys, it does not fucking matter. If you don't like that I write mostly if not entirely bottom Anakin, then go somewhere else and read someone who does write to your preferences. The more messages I get through the years of bottomWan stans whining to me about not writing what they like, the more sour I get on the matter.
The fact of the matter is, I might have been inclined several years ago to write Obikin with more variety of top/bottom. But then I had interactions like this, and I decided to NOT write it on pure, vindictive principal. And even though I might have been inclined lately to finally write outside of my comfort zone and branch out, shit like this makes an author say, you know what fuck you, you're not getting anything from me.
I am so sick to death of this stupid discourse in this ship, and I am sick to death of getting pushy, whiny comments from folks who just uwu can't like my stuff. Guess what man, I could not give less of a shit what you think about my writing or what you want from me.

what do you like about Ahsoka(genuine question)
I tend to gravitate towards female characters that have something very wrong with them, usually some violent adjacent trauma and maybe something a little existentially Other. Examples from past fandoms include Leah of Hel, Anevka Sturmvoraus, Nico Robin, and Uzumaki Karin.
Ahsoka is notable because she's the first that I think has had such struggle with remaining a good person and managed it. Leah has never quite fit into a real framework of good and evil, because she's a queen of death. Anevka was kind of a dick right up to her death. Robin got removed from her bad situation and given a truly reliable support network for the first time in twenty years, and Karin was an asshole until the violence was over for long enough that she was allowed to mellow out, and even then she's still working for a retired supervillain.
Ahsoka was good. She was put into a situation that drove uncountable numbers to madness and cruelty, and she stayed good. She struggled, she lost most of her support network, she was not given a way out, and she stayed good. As a teenager in war, as a young woman surviving a genocide, as a black ops agent running missions solo more often than not and without having heard from her only known remaining friend in fifteen years, she stayed good.
Fucked up. Snappish and standoffish to protect herself. Secretive. But good. She tries to be kind, even when she's hurting, tries to be everything she was taught to be about how to be a good person, a good Jedi, by all the role models she had growing up, by Plo, and Obi-Wan, and Tera Sinube, and yes even Anakin, messy as he was.
I've made a post before about how I like characters better when they have to struggle to find and remain good, rather than just being it intrinsically. Ahsoka started good, yes, you could argue that she is 'intrinsically' good, but everything around her was meant to push her to darkness, and everything that tried to do that failed.
I like a fucked up gal, but there's something incredibly powerful that hits me about a character that is given every reason to become cruel, to become a monster, and... doesn't.
Refuses to bend and break and become what they hate.
Bitchy, sure. Cold, sometimes. Traumatized and untreated, definitely.
But still good. Still trying to do good.
Fuck, who can't love a character like that?
(This also applies to Obi-Wan in a lot of ways. Lots of venn diagram overlap in reasons to love them.)

pairing: Obi Wan Kenobi x Amadala!reader
word count: 1k
warnings: nudity, embarrassment, fluff at the beginning, sexual references, age gap sort of referenced
a/n first obi wan fic. i hope i didnt make padme too mean, it wasnt my intention. i havent watched the prequels in over a month and i tend to forget character aspects sometimes. also this takes place at the castle anakin and padme got married in (and the only place where i will ever get married Villa del Balbianello if your interested)
summary Padme’s prized younger sister Y/N gets caught after a night with Obi Wan.

“Why couldn’t we had just sent a droid?” Anakin whined, following Padmé.
“It’s better to communicate through words. More respectful. I’m sure Master Obi Wan won’t mind.” Padmé said confidently. Her dress swayed perfectly behind her and her heels clicked as Anakin sulked following her down the hallway.
“But he’s the late one!”
“Yes, but I’m sure he just over slept. Come on,” Padmé said, trying to calm down Anakin. Obi Wan rarely messed up, and when he did Anakin did not deal with it lightly.
The two reached Obi Wan’s door to his quarters. Just as Padmé was about to raise her hand to knock on the door, Anakin grabbed her wrist softly.
“Wait. Listen,” he whispered. The silence stung their ears as Padmé tried to listen to what Anakin was saying.
“Or shall I pin it here?” Obi Wan asked, picking up a side of his sheet and pretending to pin it over your shoulder.
Your giggle rung through the room and bounced off the wall. You stood at his private balcony, covered only in his sheer tan bed sheet.
“I liked the strapless better,” you said sweetly, tucking the sheet under your arm once again. “Such a fashionista,” Obi Wan smiled, gazing out over the rural mountain. “Who taught you that word?” you asked, turning to walk towards him.
As you took a step, you tripped over the sheet and the dress began to unravel. Your skin became exposed to the bright morning sun. Nothing to hide around Obi Wan, it’s not like he hadn’t seen it before.
“No! Not my beautiful work,” Obi Wan sighed jokingly, lazily helping you bunch up the sheet on his knees. You grabbed his scruffy chin with your fingers, grabbing his attention to your face.
Your eyes seemed to entwine. His expression turned soft, leaving his eyes wanting for your lips. Bending down and keeping your hand on his chin, you softly kissed him.
Then the knock came on the door.
“Who’s that?” you panicked, freezing in your position.
Obi Wan was a Jedi. He wasn’t supposed to be with anyone according to Jedi law. The relationship you two had was kept a secret. Sometimes you liked it. Something the two of you shared and nobody else knew. It was special. Other times it drove you nuts. You wanted a ring on your finger more than anything. You would always ask “Well Anakin and Padmé…” but he would always come up with an excuse. “We can’t be as irresponsible as the two of them,”
“Calm down, my love. Breakfast,” he sighed, waving his hand. The big wooden door flew open. You expected a droid carrying a tray of food.
Instead you were met by the horrified faces of your sister and brother in law.
You shouted, ripping the sheets from Obi Wan’s hands and covering your exposed breasts and rolling back on your hips, covering yourself as much as possible. It wouldn’t help, the cat was already out of the bag.
Padmé was going to kill you. She had always been protective of you ever since you were little. She was older than you by a few years. She was the Queen, and you listened to her. Seeing her sister naked on the floor with one of the men she most respected was most definitely going to set her off. She was not about to let you make the same mistakes she did.
“Y/N…?” Padmé asked, her hand now covering her agape mouth. “It’s not what it looks like,” Obi Wan said, raising his hands in a defensive pose.
Padmé had never seen you like this before. She had expected you to keep your purity until marriage and marry for political reasons. Not to be tangled up with a Jedi. She had just caught her younger sister after very obviously hooking up with someone. And not just someone, that someone was Obi Wan. Your stomach felt like knots just waiting for her reaction.
“Mé’, what are you doing here?” you gritted through your teeth. “I could ask the same for you!” she yelled. “Get dressed.”
Tears began to well in your eyes. “Y/N,” Obi Wan sighed, reaching for your hand. You flung his hand, rejecting his request.
“Where is my dress?” you asked, shoveling through the other blankets on the bed. “I-I believe we left it by the pool last night, my dear.” Obi Wan answered.
You looked up back to Padme. She was standing with her hand on her brow, hips cocked against the door frame. Anakin was standing now farther back in the hallway, but you could still see his cheeky smile. “The pool?” she asked angrily. You were about to answer but then she raised her hand. “Nevermind. I don’t want to know.”
“I do,” Anakin whispered from the back. She promptly elbowed him in the ribcage, he let out a small oof.
Your heart sank at the sight. You had disappointed the one person you wanted to make proud.
“Here,” Obi Wan said, gathering your green long sleeved dress from his drawer. “How long has this been going on?” Padmé exclaimed, shocked that he had a stash of your clothes in his room.
“Uhm…”
“Since the wedding?” Obi Wan asked you. “Around there, yeah.” you agreed.
Padmé’s eyes almost popped out of her head. “My wedding was over six months ago!”
“Sorry,” you muttered, raising the straps on your dress.
“So does this mean there’s no training today?” Anakin asked, piping up behind Padmé’s shoulders. Obi Wan shot him a death glare. He knew he wouldn’t hear the end of this.
“Let’s go,” Padmé said, grabbing the back of your arm and guiding you quickly out of the room.
“Dude,” Anakin said, smirking at Obi Wan. “Leave.” he sighed, holding his hand up and flicking his wrist. “Are we going to be brother in laws?” he asked, hanging on the doorframe.
Padmé was expecting him to follow and they were getting a little too far away. Anakin struggled remembering all the hallways in this big castle.
Obi Wan sighed. He rubbed his brow with the back of his hand. “If Padmé doesn’t kill me, then just maybe.”
Anakin smirked at Obi Wan.
“Don’t tell her I said that!” he yelled after Anakin.
“No promises!” Anakin yelled from the hallway.

Its honestly so painful to me, the sheer amount of turmoil that Anakin has experienced in his life. If you really sit down and think about what he's been through, he truly is one of the most tragic characters in fiction.
Born a slave to a single mother on a backwater, forgotten, barren world with no opportunities (Sidenote as much as we laugh at the "I don't like sand" meme, it actually is a meaningful line. He hates that world, that life, wants to put it behind him. Can't help but think of the mother he abandoned there)
Forced to choose between freedom and leaving his mother to her fate. A ridiculous amount of pressure to put on a 9 year old
Loses the only father figure he's had, and ultimately the only person to truly show faith in him, almost immediately after finding him
Becomes a burden and disappointment to a reluctant, inexperienced master (Before you come at me, I ADORE Obi-Wans and Anakins relationship. I love their banter, and I truly think they loved one another ridiculously and my heart breaks at what they became. But I do think that Anakin felt like a burden and disappointment sometimes. Especially at the beginning, Obi-Wan only really takes him on out of duty to Qui-Gon, it wouldn't have been his own choice. He didn't believe in him the way Qui-Gon did. And because Obi himself was grieving and young and inexperienced, he didn't have the confidence to guide Anakin the way he should have. He falls back on the rules too much, after bending them to take him on in the first place. He's too strict with him, too harsh. He doesn't tell him how much he loved him until it's too late, which just adds to the angst)
Is constantly told that he needs to let go of his attachment to his mother whilst being plagued my dreams of her death.
Watches his mother die in his arms with the knowledge if only he could have done something sooner he could have saved her (and this is the moment I think, pivotally, that his capacity for the dark side becomes real. Not the moment when he kills the Tuscans in anger just after. But in this quiet moment of death. The moment that voice in his head starts burrowing like a worm "Not enough, more, better, faster, stronger". If he could just burn hotter, brighter, push harder, then no one else would die.)
Is thrust into a war at 19
Is entrusted with a 14 year old apprentice at 20. Loves her like family only to watch the order he gave up everything for, the order that let his mother die, the order that is the reason he cannot have a normal life with his wife, drive his little sister away from him.
Plagued to madness by visions of his wife dying. Goes insane to try to save her only to be her own downfall. Is cut into pieces and left to burn alive by his brother. Suffers excruciating pain being pieced back together. Is forced to live with the knowledge that he led to the love of his life's death, where every breath is a reminder of the monster he has become.
Becomes increasingly aware that his new master, the only person he has left, the person he betrayed everyone for, the person he trusted in his times of need and thought understood him, would toss him away without a second thought and replace him with Luke.
That smile when he takes off the mask and looks at Luke in Return of the Jedi means so much. It's so pure, and light and carefree for those few seconds. The first time we've ever seen him truly at peace. He is finally free from the pain.

MODERN OBI-WAN KENOBI BOYF HC
I haven’t ever done a head cannon post but with how busy / lazy I’ve been I might post more of these, they’re a lot of fun. probably one for Bucky and Luke skywalker. If you want any other characters just lmk! Make sure to check my request post!
warning: nsfw content (labeled so if you want to skip you totally can)
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
tea guy, like, it’s crazy. has so many drawers full of boxes and bags. always making you tea to fit whatever mood you’re in
landscaper or teacher, or both. I imagine him teaching younger kids but probably wishes to be a professor of some sort, maybe teaching environmental science.
just really likes plants and flowers but sometimes gets tired of having to craft and trim everything to be perfect so he thoroughly enjoys natural nature and the “overgrown’ aesthetic
Adding onto that, loves to hike, always takes you with and nerds out about the scenery and views.
definitely fosters dogs from the local shelter and takes them on hikes to help leash train them.
unintentionally a pretentious little prick
circle lens glasses and turtle neck combo 24/7
And of course you steal his sweaters ALL THE TIME
Smells like citrus, grass and rain. the warm sun rays and vanilla
Always watching some documentary, or the history channel.
All your friends lowkey want him because he’s. That Guy.
Whenever he blushes it goes straight to his nose, ears and neck.
Frequent at most coffee shops in town so when he started to bring you around it was a big deal for the workers lol, so much gossip. And mild disappointment from the staff knowing obi wan was official taken
Probably hates small talk, finds it tedious and shallow
The most supportive boyfriend in the world, he’s always the first person there to cheer you on
When you started dating him, his cousin/best friend, Anakin, came as a packaged deal. The younger one frequently trailing behind obi wan and now, as you’ve got too closer, you as he’s become a younger brother figure to you.
Not jealous at all, he’s very secure in your relationship and his trust in you is crazy strong. finds it quite amusing when men hit on you in front of him and kinda just lets you play it out.
That is unless you become uncomfortable, he mostly lets you stand up for yourself but if it becomes overbearing he definitely won’t hesitate to cause a small scene.
A big runner and boxer, you’re used to having to help his knuckles heal up from long sessions. As well as joining him on early morning runs if he can get you up and out of bed for it.
He loves art and mostly drew and painted landscapes but after meeting you this sketch book began to fill of pictures of you from every angle possible.
So naturally put together all the time it makes you insecure sometimes
Obviously, obi wan is the best at easing those insecurities. He always notices when you’re feeling off, sometimes even before yourself, so quick to embrace you and whisper exactly what you need to hear.
Another thing, so good with his words??? He always tell you what you need to hear, there’s rarely ever any miscommunication between the two of you because of this and even when they’re are, arguments are not common.
Crazy sarcastic, will say the funniest shit ever with the most monotone face and it just makes it 100% times funnier.
Really likes Taylor swift and David Bowie
Always getting you bouquets of flowers, even arranges them himself sometimes.
“This reminded me of you.”
Such a safe and non-judgemental aura, you’d struggle with asking for help or learning new / seemingly ‘common sense’ things with past relationships in fear of seeming dumb but you feel so safe around obi-wan that those thoughts never cross your mind, always learning new things from him and enjoying how helpful and supportive he is.
Definitely an impala driver, either 40s Chevy impala or the very sleek and fancy 2020 impala premier, probably black and rarely dirty
Not the biggest cuddler in the world but really enjoys naps together, will drape an arm over you but he tends to move around in his sleep so he’s just content with sleeping besides you rather than wrapping limbs
But when he is in the mood to cuddle, it’s mostly on the couch when you decides to binge shitty reality television. He’s usually on his back and you’re laying ontop of his stomach with your ear to his chest
You two constantly binge dating reality shows, always criticizing the other couple and mostly men LOL.
“He did not just say that! Maker, you would have broke up with me then and there.” “Damn right I would.”
You trace all the moles and freckles along his body, obi wan definitely had a skin care routine and moisturizes so I imagine his skin is always so soft
NSFW!
really likes nudes, like the grainy MacBook camera pictures with a matching cute set type nudes (iykyk). Hot and slightly artistic, his favorite.
Doesn’t like porn though, never enjoyed it and it never really got him off, doesn’t like the morals of it either
Also sexting, not his thing. He’s usually more on the serious end when it comes to intimacy but he cannot take sexting seriously LMAOO
lowkey the type to come home from a long day of work and look you in the eye with That Look and you just know what he needs
Thigh guy, the type to take breaks from eating you out by just resting his head fully on your inner thigh and just gaze up at you
Sir / master kink
Will jokingly come up behind you when you’re in the kitchen or something and press his groin to your behind
Just a little tease overall, always doing shit like that and acting all innocent about it
VERY VERY vocal during sex (cough, cough, shallow graves ending scene, COUGH)

Anyways. I just think that Anakin on Mortis, when he’s given knowledge of the future, should have been allowed to escape.
Because. He would have gone straight to Palpatine to nerf his ass before telling Obi-Wan exactly everything that could have happened and how all he had to do was end Palpatine and they can fix the rest of the corruption from the inside, and you know what? Obi would be like ‘lmao yeah sometimes visions do that to a person’ and Yoda is all ‘put all our stock into visions we shouldn’t… but right about Palpatine being a Sith, this one was’ and he’s so annoyed about agreeing with the problem child but accepts it.
But you know what would get me the most? Is that Anakin would be up to speed with Force Ghost Anakin’s level of knowledge. He’d understand way more with 20 years of extra experience (and also immediately demand to be allowed to track down Tag and Bink so he can adopt them lmao) and all the confidence of that older Anakin, who knows exactly what power he has, and the surety to accept that even at 40k midichlorians (as Lukas implied was his ultimate number and his 28k was a suppressed number) and able to pull full ass starships from the sky, Obi-Wan can still kick his ass to high hell, even without the high ground, AND loves him so much that even if he did the worst thing ever, Obi-Wan still couldn’t kill him.
Anyways. I think that foreknowledge could have saved Anakin, and they should have let him escape Mortis cause I think Ani would have gone for Palpatine’s throat. I’ve actually mentioned this idea before but before I thought Anakin would have a breakdown afterwards, with this new info about his character tho; I think he would have gained a confidence that could get him through freaking anything and sorta gone quiet because he’s still not sure what to do. So obviously he’s gonna call up force ghost Qui-Gon and demand him and Obi-Wan talk to him about the future he saw. Obi-Wan is pointing at Qui-Gon the whole time screaming that he KNEW visions would help one day he fucking KNEW it and Qui-Gon has his head in his hands for eternal sighing.
And then Anakin picks up his smol girl Soka and carries her off for naptime because they are fucking tired and just killed three gods.

The thing that if find so funny about CodyWan, and even Cody as a character, is that in the grand scheme of the clone wars show, Cody has very little actual spoken lines or influence on the plot. I think he got one episode where he was the focus and that was in season one. And what I find interesting about this is that even though Cody may not be an "important" character in the sense of words spoken or plot influence, he is always there. Like he is always there and that fascinates me.
We have this character, who gets maybe ten lines per season, who's just always chillin in the background in very close proximity to the three main characters, and the clone who gets the most screen time, and that's really interesting. Like Cody has a rich inner life, in-jokes with Obi-Wan and Rex, and we see mostly none of it, but it's all implied and shown to us in tiny little moments that stack up over seven seasons.
And all of that is what makes CodyWan so interesting to me as a concept. We don't see much of Obi-Wan's battalion in clone wars because the jedi are a bigger focus and when we do get clone-focused episodes or arcs it usually centers Rex and the 501st, however what we do see just implies so much. Like Obi-Wan and Cody clearly have a deep respect for each other, they have little in-jokes, and have fought side by side as general and commander for three years. I think it's only natural to speculate about what exactly is going on between them and explore the type of bond they would have. I also think Jedi and Clones as independent characters are already super interesting from the perspectives and hang-ups they have, so putting the two together is even more like story potential.
I'll be honest I think the fandom set my expectations a bit too high in regards to Cody and how much screen time I thought he was going to have, but I've come to appreciate the subtlety of Cody and how sometimes a slow build can be fun too. Still would have liked him to have more screen time tho :(

Various Star Wars Characters Headcanons: Sleep Schedule\Habits (Feat. Reader)
Tumblr media
Obi-Wan Kenobi:
-Obi-Wan, contrary to popular belief, is not an early riser at all, but he's also not one to be late for whatever he has to do. So even if you'll be the first one to wake up, he will get out of bed first.
-He will always make breakfast for you. I mean always. He knows that he's away a lot during the day, sometimes a handful of days at a time, and he also knows that even when the two of you are actually together, no signs of "inappropriate" affection can be shown around others. To be honest, your time together is always very limited. So even if Obi-Wan knows that's not really his fault, he sees making breakfast for you in the morning as the least he can do to show you how much you mean to him.
-If he has the day off though, be ready to never get out and about. He will literally keep his arms around you for hours, even if the both of you are starving. And, even when you do eventually get up, he will still keep you as close to him as he possibly can.
-Most nights, when he comes back, you're already half asleep in your bed. He will absolutely not wake you up, being pretty exhausted himself, but he will hold you very tight to his chest and whisper softly to you how much he loves you.
-If he gets home earlier, he will cook dinner for the two of you. He will ask you about your day, and tell you anything "exciting" that might have happened to him (That almost always translates to listening to him talk about something very stupid/irresponsible Anakin has done.). You will probably fall asleep in one another's arms on the couch, and at some point during the night, a very sleepy Obi-Wan will take you both to bed.
Anakin Skywalker:
-Anakin is an early riser, and will 9/10 wake up before you in the morning. But, he tends to be really lazy when it comes to getting up and out of the comfort of your shared bed, so you will have to be the responsible person and tell him that he absolutely cannot be late again.
-When he does get up, it will probably be just 10 minutes before he needs to be out of the door. 5 of those minutes will be spent on him trying to get rid of his absurd bedhead and making sure that he doesn't smell like a Hutt. That means that breakfast is a veeery quick affair, consisting in him trying to get his boots on while also chugging down a cup of coffee.
-Even when he's running extremely late and already has half his body out the door and ready to take off, he will always remember to kiss you one last time before he leaves. It never fails to put him in a good mood, so much so that he always tells you that his days go way better when you kiss him breathless.
-Anakin's schedule is, luckily, a bit more free than Obi-Wan's; (Let's talk clearly here, even when his schedule is a mess he will still manage to find time for you. It's almost a superpower of his.) So he has a bit more time to dedicate to you. How that time is spent depends heavily on how tired the two of you are. On good days Anakin will probably convince you to go around and create some playful mischiefs with the younglings. On bad days you will just hold one another in silence while you rest on the balcony, either basking in the sun or relaxing in the chilly night air.
Luke Skywalker:
-Having lived on a farm most of his life, Luke is completely used to not only waking up early but also being operational quite fast. He will always be the first one to get up, he will get ready for the day and then go to the mess hall to find some food for the two of you.
-He will always wake you up with kisses. That's his little tradition and he loves it.
-He goes to bed pretty early, and mornings are definitely his favourite part of the day, so no matter how much time you have together he will always make the best of it.
-Cuddles. Last minute cuddles in the morning before a meeting or a mission. Cuddles in bed for the entire morning when he has a day off. Cuddles when it's dark and you're trying to sleep lulled by each other presence.
-Literally the softest person ever.
Han Solo:
-Han is not a morning person, not even in the slightest. He will get up at some point if he really needs to do something; jobs, as a smuggler, could come at any hour, so while he really doesn't like it he will get up in the end.
-Still, he will consider anything before 9 am an ungodly hour, and won't wake up unless there's a real emergency. Once he actually gets out of bed he will quite literally not utter a single word until he's had at least two hours and three coffees to mentally prepare. On a positive note, the silence will be relaxing and comfortable.
-Han can't cook, at all, (The one time he tried the entire Rebel Base almost got a collective heart attack thanks to the fire alarm.) but he also loves the domesticity of it, so his gaze will be locked on you the entire time you'll make breakfast. Every once in a while he will also genuinely compliment your messy morning look, those being the only words you will probably hear from him all morning.
-If you're looking for a soft Han Solo, make sure to stay awake with him in the night time. You will probably find him curled up in his seat in the cockpit of the Falcon stargazing till four in the morning, if you'll join him, he will be unmistakably happy and at peace. Also, if you're looking for an honest answer to something, this will be the perfect moment to ask; his usual cocky persona will make place for the honest and open side of him. Holding hands at times like this is a personal favourite of his.
The Mandalorian/Din Djarin:
-Mando rarely sleeps at all, and when he does it's usually 2 hours naps when his body is at the limit of a shutdown. Still, every time he actually sleeps at night (No matter for how long or at what hour.) he will 10/10 get into bed with you just to feel you close to him.
-In the morning, whether he's never slept or just woke up, he will go and eat breakfast first (Because he will probably still not be able to remove his helmet in front of you.) and then cook some more for you and the child.
-He will also wake you both up by caressing your heads, and even remove his gloves for it. Just don't go around talking about it, Din is a very private person and will deny it till the end of his days.
-Bounty Hunting is a difficult profession, jobs can take from a couple hours to a couple of weeks and he will (Unless the job is extremely dangerous and you threaten him to take you with him as back up.) always ask you to stay behind and protect/take care of the child. So actually, coming back from jobs is Mando's favourite part of the day, just reuniting with his family and getting reminded of how lucky he is to have you to come home to is enough to get him going through the hardest days.
Poe Dameron:
-Poe is in his day to day life, a really energetic person. He doesn't need coffee in the morning and he needs very little time between waking up and actually getting out of bed and ready for the day. That doesn't mean that he does or that he wants to though, he is in fact also a veeery affectionate person and one of his favourite ways to demonstrate love is through touch.
-90 percent of the time Poe is truth be told: very late, for meetings, missions or even simple jobs around the base. So much so that he almost caused the General to demote him on the spot, mostly because he kept your relationship somewhat of a secret for the first couple of months, just to be sure. When Leia discovered that his tardiness wasn't just a product of Poe sleeping in and that he actually just wanted to spend as much time as he possibly could with his significant other, she actually related to him. The fear of never having enough time with the one person you love most in the world, knowing that your luck might be running out and that there's a way too real possibility that one of you might not come back for the night, was something that strained her and Han's relationship for a long time. If she had to give Poe, the boy grown man that she feels is like her own son, any advice, Leia would tell him to make the most out of every single second he has with the ones he loves, it was in fact the desperate need to protect loved ones the reason the rebellion was still afloat.
-Still, as the General and a responsible person, she kept giving him an earful every time, never again considering demoting him for it as long as he kept arriving in the nick of time to do his duty. Not that he's actually late on purpose anyway, it all starts with him wanting to stay in complete peace with you "five more minutes", ending with the two of you literally sprinting out of bed and cursing yourselves when BB-8 aggressively bangs on the door to wake "you two sappy idiots" (his very angry words, not mine) because you're late again.
-Returning to the main theme: from the second you get to bed to the second you get out, Poe will make sure your bodies are touching in some way. It can space between a legitimate intense cuddle session where all your limbs are tangled together and neither of you can tell where one begins and the other ends, or just be the delicate but reassuring brushing of your hands. You'll mostly just have to accept the fact that you won't get too far from this fly-boy if he ever gets a say in it.
Cal Kestis:
-Even long after leaving Bracca, Cal's sleep schedule is still a total mess. Being used to waking up whenever he was needed, and for however long it took to complete the job, Cal still can't wake up and go to sleep everyday at the same time. Which means that he just falls asleep somewhere when he feels tired, no matter the hour. Ever since becoming your partner, he at least tries to fall asleep on a bed, or at least a couch, to give you the chance of joining or cuddling up next to him if you feel like it. Unfortunately he doesn't always succeed, and you've had to try and get him off the ground or out of a super uncomfortable position more times than the both of you would like to admit.
-On a positive note, he is operational immediately after waking up. And although his speech is a little slurred, he can hold even a deep conversation with ease only minutes after opening his eyes.
-Cal, although a little more subtle than some of the other boys, is still a very affectionate person, and he finds a lot of comfort in your touch. Even when he has to suffer through some of Greez's most unappetising breakfasts, all his complaints evaporate from his mind the moment your hands link together under the table. He might even stop mid sentence and not notice Cere trying (and failing) to hold back her chuckles, but he gets a small peaceful smile on his face that makes anything worth it.
-Cal tries to spend all the free time he possibly can with you, and even when he meditates he much prefers to have you beside him, or at least close enough so that he can still feel your presence surrounding him. When you're the busy one, if you'll let him, he is willing to suffer through any boring tasks you might have, help you with anything you might need, or enjoy any activity you might be interested in (but although Cal knows how to be still and silent when he shouldn't disturb you, keep in mind that BD-1 will also be around, and he's not nearly as patient).

I really want to write an AU where Ezra travels back in time - specifically de-aged and sent back to Obi-wan's time on Melida/Daan.
Because even though this is a super shitty situation Ezra's kinda... thriving? Like all of this is so firmly in his wheelhouse its funny.
Ezra's been living on his own starving and stealing since he was 7. He's being doing guerilla warfare for most of his adolescence. As soon as this boy joins the cause it's hell. Every adult is getting mind-tricked. The young are now stealing everything that is not nailed down. Ezra's connecting with any local megafauna to cause distractions. He's teaching 'child soldier 101 classes'.
And emotional support too! Comforting kids mourning their dead parents? That was just his own character arc! Comforting kids whose parents are warmongering assholes? That's just Sabine's thing! A jedi that doesn't believe he's worthy of being a jedi? Kanan.
idk if obi-wan would be a little scared of this war kid or think he's the fucking coolest padawan obi-wan's ever met in his life. Lets say the latter because its funny to me if they're both kinda obsessed with each other. Ezra definitely hears the whole story of how Obi got to the planet and is 2000% on His Side immediately. Ezra is complimenting Obi-wan constantly cause he canonically can't shut up and obi-wan is clushing so hard All of the Time.
Anyway, when the war ends Obi-wan and Qui-gon bring him back to coruscant with them to present him to the council, ect. ect.
Ezra is conflicted about whether he even wants to join the order officially as a padawan. On one hand, it would be really nice to have actual traditional jedi training. On the other hand he really is going to have to do several high profile murders sometime in the next decade? two decades?, and doesn't know if the jedi should be connected to him lol.

Plo Koon is an awesome fighter and has strong telekinetic powers.
Saesee Tiin has more telepathic powers than most Jedi (who are closer to empathic than anything).
Torgruta Shaak Ti is one of the best Jedi fighters in group combat. Her hollow head montrals sense space ultrasonically, sharping her spacial awareness.
Stass Allie is a formidable warrior, but her talent for battlefield medicine is also impressive. These first-aid skills have saved the lives of troops under her command during the Clone Wars.
Stass Allie and Adi Gallia are cousins.
Yaddle trained Oppo Rancisis.
Yaddle has devoted a lot of time to scholarly interests, and spends much time in the Jedi Archives.
Yarael Poof has a mischievous side and enjoys playing mind tricks on colleagues.
Note: While this book was put out very recently, indicating an intention for these mentions to be canon, I would be careful of taking these as Hard Fact until they’ve appeared in an actual story somewhere (and sometimes they’re already wrong, 2019′s Master and Apprentice shows Qui-Gon was offered a seat on the Council, while this book says he wasn’t).  But they are SUPER FUN details to help expand the world in the meantime!

I used to love Ahsoka as a character and I thought she was a really interesting foil/parallel to Anakin but at some point I started to disconnect with her character and be all ‘huh that doesn’t seem right’ and for ages I couldn’t figure out why/what it was specifically that was bothering me that wasn’t just *gestures at post-Wrong Jedi!Ahsoka as a whole*
From airing of tcw s7 onwards and also a little before that in some (but admittedly not all) parts of rebels she just doesn’t act like a Jedi.
Like we’re clearly supposed to think that she does and she uses the Force to do things and she uses lightsabre combat and sometimes she even listens to what the Force is telling her(!) but she doesn’t act the way a Jedi would or should most of the time. She doesn’t use or express their teachings or philosophies or act in any way according to them even when she says she does* or the narrative implicitly claims that’s what she’s doing
(*when she’s around Kanan this gets a bit less notable bc she does act more Jedi-like around him and I can’t figure out whether that’s deliberate or accidental or what it’s supposed to say or mean about them both if it’s intentional)
Before that she was fun and also flawed and I think if they’d kept those roots while either showing how she’d manage to overcome/learn from those flaws or that she hadn’t managed to move past them at all but was still trying her best then she would have stayed interesting! But instead her character gets flattened and her flaws get narratively erased (while still being very much there just not acknowledged in any way and/or presented as though they’re not flaws at all) in favour as propping her up as The Best Jedi TM and making her feel like a caricature of an ideal rather than a real character.
Like I am mid-Ahsoka show right now and she doesn’t even feel like the same character! Everything that made her interesting is just gone and the narrative constantly implies that she’s right even when she very clearly is not???
Writers challenge! Accept that characters have flaws and should have flaws to make them interesting and help drive the plot rather than making them perfect bc they’re your favourite!
Yeah, I don't even mind Ahsoka growing OUT of her earlier flaws (which are primarily the same ones that Anakin was given, like impatience and overconfidence/arrogance) and into different ones that reflect her new experiences and maturity. But it also would've been great to see how those flaws she started with, the impatience/impulsivity and the overconfidence/arrogance sort-of grew WITH her.
Like the way the Wrong Jedi arc shows her refusing to trust the Council LONG before she has any reason to do so and going off on her own to try to prove her own innocence which just makes her look more guilty and pushes the Council into more of a corner while also trusting ONLY the person who ended up framing her in the first place. The way that her more childish impatience and overconfidence has sort-of grown into the more dangerous impulsiveness and arrogance in the Wrong Jedi would've been so so interesting to look at if anyone writing it had been willing to acknowledge that she was in the wrong.
And you could keep going with that in later arcs and have her still be sort-of mistrustful of authority (especially Jedi authority), inclined to believe in her own superiority of opinion, and impulsive in her judgments. That's generally what we see in season 7, especially regarding her behavior towards characters like Mace and Obi-Wan. She believes she's right ALL THE TIME and this would be FINE if the narrative actually supported the idea that she WASN'T. Ahsoka can think she's right, but the audience should understand that she isn't. That's how her flaws got portrayed in earlier seasons of TCW and why I tend to prefer them to later ones. And this would've been a great place to follow up on her comment about not trusting HERSELF. Maybe Ahsoka has sort-of wandered away from mindfulness since she left the Order and so instead of continuing to look at the mistakes she made that caused the Order to mistrust her, she just starts blaming the Jedi for everything. And when she starts making accusations at Obi-Wan, have him point out that not only is she not being fair, but she's not being HONEST, with herself or anyone else. Because truly, it's not the Jedi she doesn't trust. It's not the Council playing politics that she's afraid of. It's her own flawed judgment leading her to her own destruction.
And there's SO MUCH you could do with that moving forward into Rebels, to showcase Ahsoka's continuing struggle with trusting her own judgment and how she's grown since Order 66 and into her place as a rebel where she HAS to trust herself more, but she still doesn't entirely trust herself to be a JEDI. Perhaps her uncertainty over Anakin's fate has a part to play in that. Instead, they just made her a spy despite the fact that a LACK OF SUBTLETY was one of her major personality traits in TCW and never once was she shown doing any kind of real spy work and we don't really see her doing any in Rebels either aside from a few conversations with Hera. We have no idea how she ended up growing into that role or WHY she took on that particular role rather than something that would've fit her existing skillset better. Ahsoka's position within the Rebellion is one of the places I think they really faltered with her because it could've been utilized to genuinely help her character move forward and develop her more as a Jedi survivor. Instead, she's just kinda... there and her entire narrative tends to revolve around Anakin, a problem that persists and actually got worse with the Ahsoka show.
I don't truly mind that Ahsoka is perhaps not acting much like a Jedi, at least not all the time, because that could be a really easy way to give her a journey BACK to being more like a Jedi. Much like the Kenobi show had Obi-Wan acting very out of character and unlike a Jedi in order to have him go on a journey to reclaim that identity and become the wise Master we all know and remember, they could've done something similar with Ahsoka. Let the narrative embrace that she's not acting like a Jedi as an intentional choice so that she can move forward from there and BECOME a Jedi again. This is also an arc that Kanan himself is sort-of going on, so it would've been pretty easy to parallel them a little in Rebels if they'd been willing to represent Ahsoka as anything other than a literal angel come to earth.
The problem with the Ahsoka show is that it DOES give her flaws, but the flaws it chooses to give her are the opposite of what they should be. (This paragraph might get a bit spoilery, so if you're trying to avoid spoilers until you finish the whole show, just skip this paragraph.) Instead of showing Ahsoka as impatient/impulsive and somewhat arrogant, they show Ahsoka being too UNFEELING. Ahsoka's primary flaw in the Ahsoka show is that she's too detached because her feelings regarding Anakin's fall have apparently caused her to pull away from connecting to anybody on a deeper level or something. And they choose to show this by having her literally recite Jedi philosophy of non-attachment and have Sabine push back against it. So now it's not just that Ahsoka is too unfeeling but that she's too much like the Prequels Jedi, the BAD Jedi who FAILED. And only once she lets go of those Jedi philosophies holding her back (and instead explicitly chooses to emulate ANAKIN, the dude who let himself be consumed by selfishness and greed and betrayed everybody and threw an entire galaxy into tyranny) is she able to move forward in her relationships. Instead of recognizing that Sabine is impulsive and arrogant and letting that shine a light on Ahsoka's own flaws so that they can BOTH work on them more, it just chooses to justify Sabine's impulsivity and arrogance instead and Ahsoka needs to accept Sabine as she is and support her completely no matter what horrifically selfish bullshit she does. Moral of the story, never hold your loved ones accountable for anything they do wrong!
Long story short, I think Ahsoka was 100% at her best in her bratty teenager phase in early TCW when the narrative actually was willing to admit she HAD flaws that she had to work through and her character has been completely flattened ever since they decided to pretend she no longer has any flaws and is just always right about everything (except for when she's acting TOO MUCH like the wrong kind of Jedi).

Do you ever just...wake up and think about how Obi-wan was, for most of his life, Maul's reason to live?
Let me explain, and this is one of the main reasons I was drawn to ObiMaul in the first place. (long ramble below)
We're all aware of the events at the reactor fight, and it'd be an understatement to say it was a very hostile first encounter. But it's in the aftermath where the dynamic gets interesting.
Maul survived on his own, for years, with only his top half. As a former biology major, sometimes I think about how possible this would be in real life, if at all. It would be insanely uncomfortable at best, and impossible at worst. But through the excruciating pain, Maul survived, fueled purely by his intense hatred/obsession with Kenobi (and some star wars darkside magic, I'm sure).
Maul says this himself when first meeting Obi-wan again in season 4 of The Clone Wars:
"You would never imagine the depths I'd go to to stay alive, fueled by my singular hatred...for you."
Imagine being on the brink of death, with half of your circulatory system GONE, your heart beating irregularly, and your "lower half" being in constant pain, but still finding something to live for, and living...for YEARS. That's impressive. Hate-filled or not, it's hard to deny that for that time, thoughts of Obi-wan literally kept Maul alive for a decade.
Maul comes back to the series having been left for dead by Sidious, with spider legs he made himself, and no sense of time and a destroyed sense of sanity. Yet, he lives.
And additionally, revenge on Sidious is only second in his thoughts to his revenge on Obi-wan, even though Sidious is technically the one who left him for dead. Since Maul can't sit still, he did many other things during the Clone Wars in accordance with his own ambitions, likely to attempt to reclaim that part of his life that had been lost to Lotho Minor, but that's a tangent for another post.
He gets revenge on Obi-wan (I guess) by killing Satine, but even that isn't enough for him, as evidenced by the Satine hate shrine that we see in Rebels, when Ezra visits Maul's cave on Dathomir:
Tumblr media
(on a side note, there is no sane heterosexual explanation for this^, I'm sorry/j)
Why would you keep a memento of someone you've killed? Why would you cross out their eyes? Maul didn't hate Satine that much, and it's my opinion that he did this because she was important to Obi-wan.
And that brings me to my next point: Rebels Maul
Y'all.... there's a reason the title of my blog is "Twin Suns Changed My Brain Chemistry", because I vaguely had feelings about these two in Clone Wars, but Rebels really cemented this dynamic for me.
I cannot emphasize enough that in Rebels, Maul thinks Obi-wan Kenobi is dead. Whether he got killed in Order 66 or when Vader and the Inquisitors started purging Force Users, there was maybe a .000001% chance that any Jedi, especially Obi-wan, would have survived that. And yet. When we enter Rebels, we find Maul on Malachor, stuck on the planet looking for the Sith holocron.
WHY is he trying to find the Sith holocron? In Maul's own words:
"As for me, I...seek something much simpler, yet equally elusive... Hope."
Hope? That surely isn't a Sith ideal. It's revealed later that the only reason Maul wants to combine these ancient artifacts is to learn whether or not Obi-wan Kenobi is alive. I shit you not.
This implies that Maul has had Hope that Obi-wan has been alive for what... 15 years? That's a long time. At this point, Maul may be like, 49 or 50. He has been fixated on Obi-wan for 30 years of his life. Thoughts of Obi-wan kept him going and going and going for 3/5ths of his life. Even when he thinks Obi-wan has died, he spends 15 years trying to find him, just hoping that he is alive. But for what?
It's unclear to me what Maul, in canon, really desires from Obi-wan. But one thing for sure is that Obi-wan acts as a...source of emotions for Maul. A source of feelings, and a reason to keep going through times that other characters would give up.
Other characters may have survived, but Maul lived because of Obi-wan. Through being bisected, the Clone Wars, being chased by Vader and the Inquisitors, and through periods of despair.
And before the end, he just wants to find his reason to live again, and dies in his arms.
