I have been living knowing that life's never going back to how it was before you or any of it happened to me. I’ve lived believing that nothing is better than worse. I almost pick up my phone.

I almost reach out to you.

You almost hum a song.

You almost tell me you

miss me the same.

You fly away with the dust

as I call out your name.

I almost free the caged soul.

I almost tell the pigeon

to convey my love to you.

The bird almost reaches you.

It almost attempts to speak.

You almost understand.

You almost dial up my nunber.

You almost hum your favourite song.

I gather courage. No, I can't.

You stand almost six steps away.

And I can't gather guts. But I think that I can.

So, I almost reach out to you.

But I start to think that I can't.

I close my eyes and mouth an “I love you”.

And you almost see it.

But you don't.

So, I almost try. And try. And try.

And try to spit it out. Because I think I can.
