I think about this sometimes...
Tumblr media
1. Dante calls Sparda "Dad". Unlike Vergil who calls him "Father". This is the cutest thing and in-character.
2. The use of past tense once again proves Sparda is dead.
3. So what is Sparda's revenge exactly? That Dante feels it in Rebellion? We know Sparda rebelled against Mundus to protect humanity. It was out of compassion. All his other efforts in those 2 millennia were for the same cause. He wasn't harmed at any point or sought any grim revenge as far as we know so this feels a little random...unless he was? Was Sparda hurt or done wrong at some point? By Mundus? Maybe is it posthumous grief/rage that Sparda feels by the loss of his wife and sons? And then their suffering?
Or maybe Mundus did hurt Sparda badly once before he was sealed off. Like how Dante was hurt and driven to finish him off in DMC1. Maybe Mundus had already killed a loved one of Sparda or personally hurt and abused Sparda himself. We know he's not above abusing his own followers.
Interesting at no other point such a thing is mentioned. Not in DMC3 when Dante says he feels his father's soul in him. Not in DMC1. Or 4. Or any of the novels. Feels strange. Sparda was always imagined as being against negative emotions such as revenge so this must have been quite the event to drive him to feel this way. To the point Dante can feel his father's pain too.

Here’s something hilarious 😆
Can I please request headcanons for Dante and Vergil thinking they’re dating the same girl but it turns out they’re dating identical twins?
Oh no, disaster incoming lol
Dante + Vergil x Twin Readers headcannons
-Dante and Vergil both started seeing these really hot girls at the same time, for which they were glad. They both bragged to each other about how sexy their girlfriends were, when Vergil noticed one day that the girl Dante was describing having dated sounded oddly like the girl he was dating.
-Quite suspicious, Vergil began questioning Dante and asking very specific questions about his girlfriend's appearance, making Dante very concerned. Just what the heck was his deal?
-Both brothers go home wary of each other, doubts and misunderstandings already beginning to form in each other's minds.
-The next day, Dante decides to take his girl on a date at the exact same time Vergil decides to pop in for a visit, and possibly more interrogating. As he rounded the curb, he saw Dante and a girl that looked suspiciously like his girlfriend.
-Jealousy overcoming him, the devil hunter shrunk back against the wall and began to follow the two, now sure his girlfriend was cheating on him with his brother.
-Unfortunately, Dante and the girl entered a very crowded shop, making it impossible for Vergil to continue following them. He was quite upset and debated calling you to confront you, when to his surprise, you called him first.
-When he picked up, he was shocked to hear what sounded like water running, meaning you were in the shower. But how could that be? He just saw you!
-He then decided he must be seeing things and that Dante's girlfriend must just have a similar hairstyle and similar clothing as yours, and he was jumping to conclusions. Shaking his head, he went over to your house, where sure enough, you'd just gotten out of the shower. We shall not discuss what happened next.
-Dante, meanwhile, noticed his girlfriend was always busy on her phone and never let him peek over her shoulder. Highly sus behavior right there. He would have downright asked, but what if she was cheating? She'd know he was onto her and delete all the evidence. No, he'd do this the sneaky way.
-He spied on his girlfriend for a while, but nothing too incriminating happened. She just messed around on her phone for a while, turned it off, got up to do stuff, then came back, rinse and repeat.
-The whole day passed and nothing happened, so Dante was forced to let it go for now. His girlfriend left for her home, and that was that.
-Both brothers were very disturbed and were unable to sleep. Of course, because of sibling rivalry, neither Vergil nor Dante thought to contact each other--they were sure they could handle all this on their own.
-The next day, Vergil's girlfriend left early in the afternoon and refused to tell him where she was going. Dante's girl did the same. Both Sparda twins, now even more concerned, followed their girlfriends out to a small cafe, unaware they were about to run into each other.
-The boys got to the cafe before the girls and ran into each other at the entrance. Now throughly pissed, each believed the other had seduced his girlfriend and was now waiting for her at the cafe.
-"What the hell, Verg?! You're stealing my girl?!"
"What foolishness are you rambling about now, Dante? It is you who has stolen my soon-to-be wife."
"What?! Did you have a stroke no one told me about?! I'd never try to take your girlfriend away from you!"
"You wouldn't?"
"No! Come on man, you know I'm better than that."
"And I am far superior to you and all who associate with you."
"What's that supposed to mean?"
"It means I would not interfere with your relationship as there is no need to."
"Oh."
-After that lame exchange, the twins turned around only to find another set of twins staring back at then. The tension and shock in the air was palpable. Before them were two girls, dressed exactly alike, same nose, same hair, same eyes, same everything.
-Dante immediately started jumping around laughing while Vergil froze and turned into a statue from the waist down. This whole thing was a massive misunderstanding, he realizes now. No one was being unfaithful--the bros were dating twin sisters!
-The girls explained they were setting this up to surprise the two with their twin sister-ness, which worked way better than they ever expected. Many pictures were taken, and at the end of the day, neither of the brothers could tell who was who.
-Let the confusing twin games begin! Though Dante and Vergil can't trick others since they act so differently, you girls can trick them no problem.
-One time you switched places when they weren't looking and when they came back, they ended up walking off with each other's girlfriend.
-Vergil was very upset about this, but Dante found it hysterical.
-Don't worry, eventually, the Spardas will find a way to distinguish you two, be it through your mannerisms or another way.

Sparda is such a wife guy. He really treasures his S/Os because of their mortality in comparison to his own. At any moment he may lose them and that is something that definitely eats at him. He doesn’t like to display his concern because of who he is and what he’s become, but it’s hard to ignore. His protectiveness of his S/O is cranked up to the max setting too once he’s claimed them. If someone or something hurts them, he gives it the most withering glare while having a totally relaxed and nonchalant face like.
“Ah! Pesky thing, we could really do without it, couldn’t we?”, he asks, just before he’s about to obliterate it.
The legendary dark knight doesn’t take very kindly to others being disrespectful to his love either: for example, let’s say if one of his sons were acting unruly and causing them trouble.
“Dante”, he starts, voice heavy with that deep growl and that certain look in his eyes. It’s all he needs at most to straighten out the wild child. He’s glad that he didn’t have to be so stern with Vergil who was more tame than his brother, but still.
There won’t be anyone in this world that should cause them grief but himself. He was rebellious in his youth and that carries over even now. It’s all in good fun, and if there is anything that they truly hate that he does, he’d cease it in an instant.

🥀♡•♡"Wherefore art thou Dante?"♡•♡🥀
Dante Sparda x Female Reader. Some angst. Hurt/Comfort. There's fluff don't worry. Forbidden Love. Romeo & Juliet inspired. Disapproving parents. Love is powerful. Secret relationship. Eloping. Happy ending.
🥀♡🥀♡🥀♡🥀♡🥀♡🥀♡🥀♡🥀♡🥀♡🥀♡🥀♡🥀♡
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Your family have always had a disdain of Sparda and his kin, despite Sparda being a kindhearted and caring demon with a beautiful and sweet human wife and two handsome sons who were twins, but still they hated them. And they would hate you if your family found out about your secret relationship with Dante, younger twin brother of Vergil, son of Sparda.
For years, your family hated demons and devils. They hated what they done to humans and hated the wars raged on them by Mundus. And in particular, they hated Sparda. They despised him despite Sparda betraying Mundus and protecting the humans from harm. They hated him even when he choose to live amongst the humans and married a beautiful woman, Eva. They hated him, even when Eva gave birth to twin sons, Vergil and Dante. They could never let go of their hatred towards demons and Devils, even if there were good Devils in the world.
And you knew, if they found out what you were up to when you snuck out at night, they'd definitely hate you. Possibly even disown you. Because you were in love with Dante, son of Sparda and younger twin brother of Vergil.
You two met at a masquerade ball, hosted by your parents. They had forbade Dante and Vergil from attending, but that didn't stop Dante from planning on crashing it for fun. Vergil warned him not to do it, but Dante being Dante he went along and snuck into the ball with his own masquerade disguise.
His plan was to sneak in and cause a ruckus, maybe switch out the classical music for some heavy metal songs and put them on full blast throughout the speakers. He had a whole plan laid out to wreck this boring party, until he saw you. And you saw him.
You were dressed in a beautiful, white and gold dress adorned with a gorgeous matching masquerade mask. Your hair done up and adorned with a gold laurel leaf crown. You were stunning, an angel sent from above to Dante and his plans of wrecking the party was all forgotten.
You couldn't help but notice Dante, striking white hair, beautiful blue eyes and dressed in striking red with a matching masquerade devil mask. You two stared at each other, both lost in each other's eyes.
Without thinking, Dante spoke.
"You wanna blow this place?" Asked Dante.
"Only if you share a dance with me first" You Replied.
"With a beautiful angel like you? Hell, how could I say no?" Remarked Dante winking. You giggled and soon you two took to a slow dance on the floor, your parents wondering who was this mysterious masked man dancing with you.
"Who is he? That man in the red masquerade get up?" Asked Mother. Father narrowed his eyes.
"I don't know. He looks familiar but I can't say I've seen him. Perhaps it's the hair" Remarked Father. When the dance ended, you two slipped away from prying eyes and snuck outside together, giggling and laughing all the way.
You spent that wonderful night with Dante under the stars, getting to know one another and sharing a few laughs. However, when the party ended and your family went looking for you, Dante fled into the night, leaving you with a promise to return again.
And the next night, he visited. You snuck out and even went into the city with him, took you to a diner where you and him shared a strawberry milkshake and some burger and fries. You wished this night wouldn't end and wanted to stay longer with the charming half-Devil, but sadly you knew your family would come looking and so with a reluctant sigh, Dante returned you home.
"Promise me, we'll still hang out together? Promise me you'll return" You Pleaded as you snuck back up to your bedroom balcony.
"I promise!" Whispered Dante and with a wink, he was gone into the night once more. You giggled and felt your heart flutter at just the mere thought of him as you lay in your bed that night, the sweet taste of strawberry milkshake still on your lips.
This continued for many nights and with each passing day, your love for each other grew. You hoped with time, maybe your parents might hear of Dante's good deeds and look upon him more favorably. But alas, that was not the case.
"Did you hear about that rogue Devil in red running amok? Causing nothing but damage to our city!" Spat Mother angrily.
"But he's just trying to keep the people safe from the demons and devils that try and hurt us!" You Argued. Mother laughed bitterly.
"You are much too young and naive to understand. He is the son of Sparda, a Hell spawn half-breed. He belongs in Hell with his family" Remarked Mother bitterly. Your heart clenched at such a harsh remark, knowing that only Dante and Vergil were the only ones left of Sparda's bloodline, Eva died during a demon attack and Sparda had vanished, presumably held captive or killed by Mundus. You knew Dante and Vergil still felt the pain of that tragedy.
"Mother, how can you say such cruel words? Don't you know those brothers still bear the scars of the tragedy that befell their mother?" You Asked, holding your hand over your chest.
"Don't feel sympathy for those Devils my child, they are nothing but monsters and god forbid should you associate with them. The very thought of you mingling with those vile creatures makes my blood run cold. You aren't in league with the Sparda twins are you?" Asked Mother, eyeing you suspiciously.
You shook your head.
"No Mother" You Replied.
"Good. The last thing I want is for my daughter to be tainted by such unholy creatures" Remarked Mother. You said nothing. It was clear that your parents still held deep hatred for Sparda and his sons.
You still continued to see Dante in secret, making sure to always keep a low profile, especially when in the city. He took you to Love Planet and though not the most romantic of places, he did make you laugh by swinging on the dance pole.
"You've got moves that's for sure!" You Laughed.
Dante chuckled along with you.
"Glad you enjoyed my little show for you" Remarked Dante sending a flirtatious wink that made you blush and giggle.
"Oh Dante" You Giggled as Dante sat beside you, wrapping an arm around you.
After a few drinks, you two shared your first kiss. It was sweet, passionate and very hot all at the same time. When the kiss broke, you were breathless.
"Wow!" You Giggled.
"I was thinking about doing that all day" Admitted Dante, a pink blush coming to his cheeks.
"Oh Dante, I love you but how are we to be together? My parents hate you and should they find out about us......God I shudder to think what they'd do to me.....to us" You Admitted sadly. Dante held you close, comforting.
"We'll find a way babe. We'll find a way. One day you and me will find a way to be together. No one will stop us" Promised Dante.
"You promise?" You Asked.
"I promise babe" Assured Dante.
And that night as you snuck back in, you still felt the lingering kiss on your lips.
One morning you awoke to the most dreadful news. You were to be married off to a wealthy man's son. You cried in your bedroom all day and night, dreading the awful future that surely was to come, until a pebble at your window caught your attention. You came out on to the balcony and saw Dante, smiling.
"Let me come in Y/N!" Whispered Dante. You wiped away your tears and allowed him to climb up and join you in your bedroom.
"You've been crying. What's wrong?" Asked Dante noting your tear streaked face.
"Oh Dante it's awful, I'm to be married off to some rich man's son and though I tried to protest, they wouldn't listen to me! I don't want to marry him! I wanna be with you! We don't have to marry if you don't want to but I just wanna spend my every waking morning and every sleeping night with you Dante! I love you, I don't want to lose you" You Sobbed.
Dante held you in his arms as you cried. It was then a plan had formed in his head. It was a huge risk but it's now or never.
"Then pack whatever essentials you need, whatever you consider valuable and let's leave together" Advised Dante.
"Tonight?" You Asked unsure.
"Tonight. We don't have much time. It's now or never Y/N. I don't wanna lose you either. I love you" Admitted Dante.
You smiled softly at your lover and he smiled back.
"So what do you say?" Asked Dante.
"Let us leave" You Answered.
That night, Dante helped you pack a bag and you two ran off into the night hand in hand together. No matter how hard they tried, your parents couldn't reach you or Dante. You both were left alone in peace.
And you two lived together, happily for years to come.

Re: your idea for that fic where Sparda comes back- any more details or thoughts on how he'd feel about Trish? 👀 I can only imagine how conflicted he'd feel, since she's a construct of Mundus, but has his wife's face, and is also a demon who protects humans, but acts Like That-- how do you think they'd react to each other? I can't imagine she'd be very happy in this situation either...
Ahahaha you have the best timing, because it's 1 AM and I just had a Thing happen and wound up on a 911 call and can't sleep because I'm still waiting for the adrenaline to clear my system, so I turned on my laptop to write and generally distract myself until my pulse rate drops to two digits (it's been almost an hour and it hasn't gone down yet) and lo, there was an Ask about a story! So I'm going to answer right now because it's something to do that isn't worrying about the Thing that just happened, but I apologize in advance if my writing is a little... uh... more jittery than usual. Because *I* sure am.
(For those unfamiliar with the above-referenced fic post, it's here.)
The first letdown would definitely be the worst. Sparda has been trapped in the underworld for decades, and his one thought the whole time has been returning home to his family (as he tells Nero). Then he finds out Red Grave has been destroyed -- and by his own son! -- and he's trying hard to stay calm, but some part of his mind has to be in a spiral because he knows Eva is only human and would be at risk, but can't bear to think that his son would be so irredeemable as to cause harm to come to his own mother, but he also can't imagine that if Eva were alive she would have allowed Vergil to become... whatever he's turned into that he's now destroying cities, and he just goes in ever-widening circles of panic.
He's also starting to process just how long it's been. Nero, his grandson, is already in his mid-to-late 20s (if I'm setting this post-CotFA, he'd be 26 or 27), so Sparda estimates he has likely been imprisoned for some 40 years or more. Human lifespans are short; even if she is alive, Eva could be in her 70s, in the sunset of her life.
And in the middle of all of this fretting and fear and denial, he looks up and he sees her. Eva, young and beautiful and alive, just as he left her. The joy and relief sweep everything else away for one moment...
...and then he feels it. This isn't Eva, but a demon wearing her beloved face. A creature tainted with the essence of Mundus, his archenemy and captor. To Sparda, she is the vilest form of blasphemy -- a mockery of his sainted wife.
(This is not lost on Trish, who has also had to process a little bit of guilt in regard to her resemblance to Eva. See also: CotFA chapter 8)
Sparda cannot tolerate Trish's existence, but he is not yet recovered enough to destroy her outright, which gives Nero and Lady a chance to intervene and keep him from doing any serious damage. Because Nero is the one who freed him (and he's not eager to fight his own descendant), Sparda respects his wishes and stands down, but he's infuriated and fully intends to deal with Trish once he has a better grasp on the present situation -- and has seen his sons, one of whom is apparently friendly with this abomination, according to Nero.
(Nero assumes that "Gramps" only attacked Trish because she's obviously a demon and he's an old demon hunter; he doesn't catch on to Sparda's identity just yet. Trish, for her part, keeps quiet because 1) she never actually met Sparda, assumed Mundus had killed him, and has no idea how the real Sparda could be here now, and 2) she doesn't want to say anything prematurely, since it might get back to Dante and raise his hopes, only to disappoint him if this turns out to be a mere copy of his father.)
Throughout the rest of their underworld mission, Sparda retains his antagonism toward Trish in much the same way that Vergil did, at first -- he can't bring himself to look at her and doesn't want anything to do with her, including working directly alongside her or listening to her suggestions. Though Dante's emotions are running wild after the reunion with his father, he does take a firm stand whenever Sparda lashes out at Trish; he's spent a lot more years of his life with Trish, and while Sparda may be his progenitor, Trish is his family.
Over time, as they continue their quest and ultimately work as a team to take down the semi-resurrected Mundus, Sparda will grudgingly acknowledge that Trish is not evil and respect her fierce loyalty to Dante. It definitely bothers him that Dante is so attached to Trish, because he still sees her as something inherently wrong, but he comes to terms with her existence and no longer feels the need to obliterate her. It still hurts him to look at her sometimes, though.
Though Dante insists she doesn't have to change for anyone, Trish recognizes how hard it is for Sparda to see the face of the woman he loved and has effectively just lost, and has not yet had time or space to grieve. She makes subtle changes to her appearance to set herself apart from Eva: Bold makeup. Statement jewelry. A new hairstyle. The odd splash of color in her hair or outfit. It seems to help, and in the end Sparda comes to regard her as something like Eva's radically disparate twin, rather than an inferior copy.

Eyyy, it's now 1:45 AM and my pulse rate is finally down to 98! Huzzah!

Can I have a sequal 2 da Dante x Reader birth to his darughter…. Lik what he iz lik after his daughter iz b0rn and what his wife (y/n) is like
Sure thing.
-Rodeo.
Tumblr media
Loves his daughter. Loves her very much.
Definitely extremely protective over her since he is the infamous son of Sparda and she the granddaughter.
Sings her old bar tunes from his younger more degenerate years.
Definitely gets a little more serious when he has his daughter but only because he’s terrified of anything happening to her.
Picks up little trinkets for her.
When she was younger and teething she’d cry over sore gums and Dante would slip her a crust of pizza to gum away at when you weren’t looking.
He sucks at cooking but he can make simple things for her.
Dante would love his wife like it was his first time ever seeing her every day.
Becomes very domestic.
Will wake up later than the two of you in the mornings but makes it his job to scoop the two of you up once he makes it to the kitchen where you’re making breakfast.
His daughter will have a phase where she is disgusted by how deeply in love the two of you are. She also thought your real name was either babe or sugar for a while.
He’s got trauma from his childhood and how abruptly it ended so he’ll never want his little girl to grow up too fast. He tries to keep the ugliness of the world away from her as much as he can.
Dante’s daughter will sneak away from curfew to join her old man on missions and eventually Dante realizes he can’t keep her away from his bounty hunter life.
His wife, oh his wife.
He loves wearing his ring. A simple silver band with your name engraved.
His wife would have to be very nurturing but tough. He wouldn’t put a woman through his life unless he knew she could handle it.
He likely wouldn’t trust a civilian and would probably prefer a woman who also knew of the demon world and how to eradicate her weight in devils.
However, the two of you quickly fall into domestic life together, especially with the child.
You’d be understanding when he came home too late but his daughter is very much a daddy’s girl and would jump for joy at his return.
Drinks in front of his daughter and when she’s older she’ll make fun of him or steal his handles when she has her friends over.
Wants to be a cool dad but knows kids these days aren’t as easily impressed as they used to be.
His wife definitely grounds Dante from going too low and shooting too high. He struggles with both.
He really needs a ride or die but please don’t die. His worst fear is ending up like his mother in that sense where he’ll have to raise your daughter alone. ;(.
Once puberty happens and all of a sudden daddy’s girl doesn’t want to be near him at all and is always rolling her eyes, he’s devastated. He’s just glad she has a good relationship with you at least during that era so he at least can hear how she’s doing from a second source.
“No please not the teenage angst. She gets it from me.”
Will blow his top if he catches her being disrespectful to you.
His daughter after a terrible fight will find him later with a bourbon in hand and a photo book of her baby photos. He asks her to sit down and tells her-
“I know things aren’t very good between us right now but if anything, anything happened to you…I wouldn’t know what to do.”
A little goes a long way and the two are quick to go back to being close.
Will spend money he doesn’t have on her. She would be spoiled if you as her mother didn’t set boundaries.
Won’t take it easy on her sparring wise since she’s a quarter demon and needs to know how to strut her trigger when she needs it. The tough love pays off.
All in all, Dante desperately wants to be a good father and be present at everything. He’ll want to involve himself in everything she’s up to and is willing to invite him to.
Most likely, he’ll find himself extremely happy in this new family of his, of strong loving women who take no shit.
Please let Dante settle down and be happy Capcom I ain’t gonna keep begging.

DMC dream idea, with cameo of @tie-dyed-glades's AU Leon & Lulu.
(Naming my dream vessel Sio as usual)
---
Sio was born as the first kid of Sparda, back when he was still young. Younger Sparda lacks a lot of his future armoring, looking quite like DMC3 Vergil’s Devil Trigger form. Since he was much weaker than his older canon self, Sio inherited more aspects from the other parent (... felt like Sparda carried Sio), looking like a darker & simpler version of Nero’s Devil Trigger form. Sparda left little Sio somewhere with lots of humans to fend for themself.
Over the millennia, Sio steadily grows stronger, occasionally picking up more abandoned siblings, though that stopped once Sparda joined Mundus. The siblings tend to linger in the human’s civilizations, originally to discreetly feed off them, then later to hide from Sparda’s increasing number of enemies. Most of their siblings weren’t strong enough to live more than a few centuries, so their group continues to shrink.
Thousands of years later, Sio woke up from one of their decade-long deep sleep. They rejoin the agency (founded by their siblings) as a support agent. There were a few missions with Leon, where Sio informed the poor guy they have not seen his wife in ages. Leon does seem to have a glowing Lulu tattoo though.
Later on, they received news that, not only did their dear old dad actually settle down & marry, he spawned more little siblings? & didn’t even inform them??? (They heard it from another sibling) By the time they track down their new siblings, which happens during one of Leon’s missions, its to find Tony Redgrave? Gilver pings as a sibling too? (going by the fanon where Gilver is like Trish, but with Vergil)
---
Feels like Dante is a time traveler from DMC2? He’s all sad & suicidal AF, needing either Sio or a panicking Gilver to drag him out of danger.
Sio does not consider Sparda their father, only calling him the title mockingly
They do keep an eye on what he’s up to, if only out of morbid curiosity
As the firstborn, they do have some kind of bond to Sparda, able to feel his general condition & direction
Sparda has less & less kids as he became stronger, following the fanon stronger demons have lower fertility
Sio & the older Spardakin are technically weaker than the disaster twins since they were born when Sparda himself was still weak(ish) & are all full demons
Based of the fanon the reason the twins & Nero are so strong is due to their human blood
The siblings are more Jacks-of-all-Trades, having a variety of skills between them
In battle, Sio plays Tank to their siblings’ DPSes
Feels like I'm forgetting something 🤔
*Hours later* Oh shit I forgot about Vergil! 😱

My headcanons about Nero's mother/ Lady in Red :
- Her full name is Eleana Felicia Laguardia. (Eleana means daughter of the sun, Felicia means happiness, and Laguardia is a name given to sentinels/guardians)
- Her hair is crimson red in her younger days. It will darken with age. It will become scarlet red when she is older.
- Her eyes color is emerald green. She is 178 cm when she was young and will be 182 cm when she is older.
- Her zodiac sign is Leo, born on August 1st.
- Her personality is of someone who is very emphatic, someone who understands without words needing to be said. She can read Vergil like an open book, much to his annoyance at first, than to his relief later on. But she is not an easy person and will defend her opinion and the people she cares about fiercely. She is someone with a radiating aura, compared often to the Sun. Vergil, in particular, like her smile and her laugh that brings warmth his heart.
- She is Italian, born in Venice but her family came in Fortuna was she 2 years old.
- She has always been considered by the people of Fortuna as a mainlander despite living there for a long time.
- I like the idea that she is a knight of the Order the Sword. To me, she didn't conceal her gender because, in her opinion, being a woman shouldn't forbid her from being a knight. Unfortunately, this is not a common shared opinion in Fortuna.
-Thankfully, her mentor saw her potential and decided to train her by making her a squire anyway
- She would later gain the sacred sword Galatine and become the 26th Knight of the Sun. That sword is not native to Fortuna. It is a man who was the 25th Knight of the Sun that came to Fortuna to seek a successor to Galatine as he was getting old.
- Because of her gender, her origin and the fact she is not letting the others knights disrespect her as well being stronger than them in terms of swordsmanship, rumors started early on that she was a prostitute. This was made in order to discredit her in front of the people of Fortuna. The fact she got the scared sword made her more hated by her peers.
Her relationship with Vergil pt.1 :
- When she saw him in the crowd the first time, there was something in him that caught her attention. She thought he was a very handsome man but was quickly disappointed by his behavior on their actual first meeting. (This is how I tie up Vergil's intro in DMC4 SE with the headcanons below)
- I like the idea that she saved Vergil from a real bad injury from one of Mundus's servants and that when he woke up, he called her a foolish woman. (Probably because he thought that he didn't need someone to take care of him and that it was dangerous for a human to get near of him. Also, he was an arrogant idiot.) She definitely didn't let that slide and gave him a piece of her mind that surprised him. (Years later on, the others will know about how this is the first thing he said upon meeting his wife for the first time. Dante & Co. will tease him about that very often)
- She then cared for him until he was feeling better.
- As to why she did this would be because she is not the type to let someone injured alone. Also she can fight if the person turns out to be violent which would be why she isn't scared.
- They would meet at first occasionally by accident, then she would help him to get access to the library because she thinks it's better to guide him so she can keep an eye on him.
- To me, Vergil will be in denial over his feelings for her for one year. Mainly because he is not used to these feelings, also because he is at first, focused on getting more information about Sparda's power, not on love. Thus explaining why she couldn't be a one night stand.
- Since Vergil noticed that he was having feelings for Eleana, he would try to avoid her as much as he can. Unfortunately his heart wouldn't let him do so. Thus, he would spend a day with her and avoid her for a few days until his heart yearned again for her and this for a whole year because he is an idiot in denial.
-I like @queenmuzz 's fan fiction where a feline demon (which later will become the nightmare Shadow) hunt Vergil since Eva's death. Like in their fan fiction, Vergil would have unlocked permanently devil trigger to save Eleana, but here, she would have fought from the beginning and did injure the demon a little bit in order to protect Vergil. Alas, the demon was too fast, and she was definitely not used to demons being this powerful, thus nearly killing her if it weren't for Vergil, who unlocked DT from his desire to protect her.
- After all this, he would try to leave very quickly, but she would catch him before he left, asking him why he saved her. They would go in an argument where she asks him why would he avoids her for days and suddenly appear again only to leave her quickly again. It is in this argument that Vergil would accidentally confess his feelings for her. She would do the later after his own confession. After that, they would share their first kiss.
- I like to think because of the many rumors about her being a prostitute, she would not allow Vergil to spend the night with her until marriage, in order to not confirm these rumors.
-It took a week or so for Vergil to propose because he didn't want to be tied up to someone but eventually agreed to this because he wanted to be with her more than anything.
--------
There will be a part 2 that will explain Vergil's relationship to Eleana's family, the wedding and more importantly why she couldn't be with Nero and what becomes her post DMC 5.
-----‐‐-------------------------------------------------------
Extra notes:
(In my story, Galatine, Sir Gawain's sword is a sword that's passed down only to worthy people that are selected by a remnant of Sir Gawain's soul.)
(I also play FGO so that explains the reference to Galatine. Sparda was probably interested in humanity because of their constant evolution through history.)

DMC: Family Pet AU – Meeting the Family (Part 1/3)
Link to Master List [Links to other parts can be found in master list.]
Set-Up
If you were taken by almost any other demon family, you would have been dragged away without warning and thrown to the proverbial sharks to start your job of pleasing and breeding immediately. But this was the Sparda family who saw you for the beautiful, intelligent, slightly frightened demon Pet that you were. Not only were they not forcing you to be their Pet, giving you a couple of months with them to decide if you wanted to stay, but they also made sure not to overwhelm you by introducing you to everyone all at once. They let you meet each family member individually or in pairs over the course of a few days. This is how each of them feels leading up to meeting you and how they react to you when you meet. Organized in order of meeting them.
Sparda and Eva
(see here for lead-up)
Leading up to the meeting, Sparda was nervous. Not about the quality of your person, he trusted his dear friend Matier to have picked out the perfect Pet for him and his family's needs. No, what he was nervous over was how his family would react to you. And right now, his direct concern was his wife, Eva. She was human, and so was not raised with, or had normalized, the knowledge of this form of Pet that high-standing demon families had. He also knew that humans tended to prefer monogamous relationships over polygamous ones. So, the idea of bringing in a being purposely meant for platonic, romantic, and sexual relations within a family that already had relationship dynamics within it would seem ridiculous or even gross to many humans. She had been receptive to the idea back when he first brought it up soon after Vergil and Dante were born, but he could tell she was hesitant back then.
What he did not know was that, as the years passed and she got accustomed to family members showing more than simple familial affection, Eva had come to accept the idea and even look forward to it. Yes, when Sparda first explained the practice of taking in a demon Pet, she was a bit put off by the idea due to what her human upbringing had taught her. But now, as a woman in her later years, the idea of a lovely boy or girl with canine/feline traits abound with energy running around showing affection openly, well it was an attractive idea, to say the least. That isn’t to say she is dissatisfied with her husband in any way, she loved him just as much as the day they were wed. And over the years she had come to know that he felt the same, cherishing her and their union despite her ageing faster than him. But he was so very busy all the time, watching over the human world and now taking care of their large family. The same could be said for her children and most of her family. They were all off on their own journeys. She could not help but feel a bit lonely sometimes. So having you around sounded like a wonderful reprieve from those solitary days.
When the three of you did meet on the dock on Dumary Island, you were not alone. Ms. Matier and Lucia were present so initial reactions were outwardly subdued out of courtesy. Sparda invited everyone, especially you in your thin clothing, into their boat for warmth, drinks, and snacks. Your first interactions with your new family leaders were calm and quiet.
Despite what some may think, Eva was the one to fall for your charms first. She quickly became infatuated with you, the way your tail would wag when excited or wave lazily in any other emotional state, how your ears would perk and twist whenever someone different started talking, how you looked around curiously with that little tilt of your head. My goodness, she was in love. And though she kept this part to herself, you in the embroidered lingerie outfit and robe drew her attention to your body as well. At first, she only looked because she was a fan of long, flowing clothing, as was her style. But when you sat, laid down, or some form of lounge, the clothes would drape over your body, showing every edge, curve, and contour. She would have to look away lest her face would reveal the rapid pounding of her heart. She was able to keep her expression as her usual calm smile and her face cool enough that any blush that crept up would be hidden by her blush while around Ms. Matier and Lucia, but her husband saw right through her.
Sparda, being the head of the family and a loving husband to Eva for decades, knew how to read his family’s feelings through their various forms of veils. It brought him great joy to see his wife so very excited. In truth, Sparda had worried that she would not take to you well but thankfully Eva seemed enamoured with you already. Now he just had to worry about how the rest of his family would find you. The personalities in his family varied greatly and so they may not all see you as wonderful as Eva seemed to. He could only hope that they would all find their own reasons to love you.
These are the kinds of thoughts that took over his mind as he first met you and took you back to his home. This isn't to say he did not personally find you lovely, it was just how he was, ever wanting to make sure his family was happy and strong. It also did not help that you were a bit quiet at first. It was to be expected as you had been led away from your colony and all that you knew to leave the country with people you just met. Even though Sparda, and Eva, made clear to you that, unlike some other demon families, they were not simply kidnaping you with no hope of freedom. They would take you home and let you experience life with them for a couple of months before asking you if you would like to commit and receive a family mark, branding and binding you to them. Still, your people were self-taught to be quiet and subservient so it would take time for you to open up and show your own unique personality to them. Because of this, Sparda did not make an emotional attachment to you as quickly as his wife.
Eva had rarely had a chance to see Pets like you, and never had the right to get close to one that was already taken by a demon family, so everything was new and exciting to her. Sparda, on the other hand, had seen countless Pets over his couple thousand years of life, especially when serving under Mundus who always had a harem hovering around him. He was not as enthralled by your ears and tail as Eva or reveled in your obedience like Mundus. What he, personally, was interested in was your unique thoughts and feelings which he would not get to see until you got more accustomed to his family and felt safe to express yourself. Until then though, he was happy to watch Eva dote on you and listen to his wife talk at length about how excited she was to get you home and dress you up.
Eva always liked dressing people. She was always the one to decide on outfits for events and family portraits. She had been unable to indulge in this… hobby I suppose you would call it, for quite some time as the rest of the family were far too old to have Eva play dress up with them. And Sparda, being that he was so large, had to have all his clothes tailor-made so she could not simply go to a store and make him try things on. Oh, what fun she would have, especially if she could get Trish to accompany her. The two women had an eye for fashion, though their styles varied, but they were respectful of each other and would both take turns dressing you and complimenting you and each other’s choices.
Eva was so excited for the future she could share with you in the family. Sparda was hesitantly excited about what dynamics you would bring to the family.
Trish
Trish was honestly surprised when Sparda announced that he planned to adopt a Pet for the family. She figured that, with how spread out the family was and the fact that they had humans in the group, having a demon Pet would be complicated. Then again, the family was already pretty open with getting it on with each other so having someone around purposely to cuddle and have sex with made sense. Trish was always annoyed when she was left waiting for someone to show up just to find out that “another family member jumped me and I just couldn’t reject them”. This was very much a Dante problem, but it was still annoying as hell. And he was infecting others with the same problem! Nero and Nico she got, but even V did it occasionally. Damn you, Dante.
Anyway, Trish herself wasn't opposed to the idea. If she was being honest, when she worked under Mundus and watched his Pets lounge around and pamper him, she found herself wanting a Pet of her own. A cute little thing at her beck and call that she could play with as she wished, what was there not to like? And when she finally met you, she was not disappointed.
Eva had called her up while Sparda and she were still on the boat ride back to the country, asking for her assistance in purchasing a wardrobe for you, who had but one outfit to your name. Trish agreed, of course, never missing an opportunity to go shopping with someone else's money. Even though Sparda claimed he was serious about not buying anything too frivolous, getting money out of him was so easy. So “yes dear sister, of course I will help you buy clothes for our sweet little Pet”, “and maybe I’ll get a few things for myself” but she kept that last bit to herself. She would also get to see you sooner than expected, which was definitely a plus.
When Trish laid eyes on you while sitting in a grassy nook of the shopping center, she fell in love just as quickly as Eva. You were so small, compared to her who was already taller than average thanks to being a demon and always wearing high heels, so cute and innocent looking with your ears, tail, and curious expression, yet sexy with the little lingerie set you had on. A perfect mix of physical traits that made her want to both coddle you and mess with you a little. This was going to be fun.
And so, Eva and Trish linked arms with you and whisked you away, Trish instructing Sparda to leave the shopping to them while he does his leadership duties. “We’ll give you the bill after big guy.” You three spent the next few hours bouncing from store to store. Even though the two women had differing styles, Eva liking prettier flowing clothing and Trish liking sexier tighter clothing, they were the kinds of people who didn’t argue over which to get, they just got both. And it did not matter what gender you technically were. Skirts and pants, heels and sneakers, panties and boxers, they were all on the table.
As you three shopped though, Trish started paying more and more attention to your subtle reactions to things. As a Pet, you were meant to be quiet and accept what was offered to you, but Trish wasn’t heartless. She was not going to deny your thoughts or feelings just to fit her own needs. So she picked up on your little expressions and gestures and responded to them without pressuring you to talk more than you were comfortable with.
“Not your style kitten? How about something like this?”
“Oh, is that a little too tight? We can get a size up.”
“I saw that little smile, you like this one don’t you kitten?”
Through these little interactions, Trish got the chance to know you on a bit more of a personal level. Her attention started to drift from simply shopping and fashion to waiting to tease out more of your opinions on things. Things were a lot more fun when you were less like an obedient dog and more like an independent cat. Although the most fun was seeing you get all flustered when she dragged you into her changing room to help zip her top up.
Oh, she was going to have a lot of fun with you.
V and Familiars
V was curious, but not all that interested in you. In short, he was a new being. He had only been in existence for a couple of years, with most of that time being spent fighting any thoughts and feelings that may lead to him becoming an individual who desired to keep living as he was bound to the fate of returning to Vergil, just a piece of someone else. Right now, V was far too busy trying to find and define himself as something unique. Many family members say he has already achieved this individuality he seeks but V could still feel remnants of Vergil’s thoughts and feelings in him and it frustrated him, almost like he was squandering the chance he had been gifted at his own life. This is all to say that someone new joining the family whose primary purpose was comfort and sexual gratification was of little concern to him at this time in his life. Yes, he may indulge in intimate moments from time to time as he was an adult and such urges were a fact of life. But these things were done mostly when others set upon him looking for attention or when simply being in another's company and the mood starts to shift in that direction. He would follow the flow of the moment but he never sought out these things. So, having no emotional connection with you yet, the only reason you and he would be together is if he came to you seeking intimacy, which he would not do. Add to this the fact that he was more of an introverted and introspective person who was not one for much physical affection meant that, at least until you formed an emotional connection, you two had little reason to show each other affection. When the family discussed who would meet you, in what order, and where, V made little to no comments. He would meet you of course out of politeness and to settle his own curiosity, but when and how was up to fate. Looking back on it though, he wished that he had made a plan rather than what happened.
As V and his familiars entered the mansion after an impromptu soul-searching trip and were now in need of a safe place to rest, Shadow immediately picked up a new scent. It was that of a demon. Curiously though, there was something familiar in it. Once V noticed her curiosity he quickly deduced that it was you, the new Pet, that his familiar was sensing. It was early in the morning though and he did not wish to bother you as the sun was still cresting over the horizon. Griffon, though, encouraged Shadow to indulge in her curiosity against V’s wishes because he wanted to meet the new Pet, who was on roughly the same tier in the family hierarchy as him, and because he wanted to annoy V for the fun of it. So, despite V’s calls to return, Shadow tracked you down to your room, curious about this familiar node to your scent.
You were in your personal bedroom, which Sparda and Eva had gifted you after bringing you, and your multitude of shopping bags, home to their mansion. You three, plus Trish, had had a wonderful dinner together. Then you had a chat about basic rules and responsibilities, which was more so a rundown of the family and assurances that you were free to do, say, and go where you pleased within reason, and then you were sent to rest as you had a long and difficult day. But you could not sleep due to a mix of being anxious about your new situation and not being used to sleeping without your colony surrounding you. So, when you heard the light sound of scratching at your door and the sound of curious, deep-toned mewing, you were wide awake and able to answer the door.
Upon opening your door, you were greeted with a blur of fathers and cackling as Griffon came darting into the room, Shadow practically pressing her nose against you to sniff at you, and V trying to keep his composure while two of his familiars caused chaos. It took a moment, but he was able to wrangle his familiars into calming down a bit, and it was then he could properly greet you and introduce himself.
V was a bit frazzled and annoyed that your first introduction to him was at a moment of weakness where he was unable to control his familiars and he, unintentionally, barged into your personal space. He was determined to make a better impression out of this unexpected meeting though so invited you on a walk in the garden. That was a much more appropriate place to get to know each other and would give everyone a chance to cool off from all the excitement. The air outside was still and crisp in the morning, offering a more serene environment.
V walked beside you at a respectful distance, leaving you to grow closer if you wished without imposing any of his own desires. He watched you closely though, fascinated by your every movement. You were both rather quiet, him being an introspective type and you, outside of your personality, were still hanging onto the teaching of your colony that you were to be like a pretty doll that was played with. Griffon filled the silence at first, which helped kickstart conversations, even if Griffon was a bit crude in his topics. Still, you were both rather mysterious to each other, V being naturally that way and you trying to stay in your role as a perfect Pet. Yet, even when silence hung between you two or the air was only filled with his silky voice reading his treasured poems to you, it was not a cold silence. It was not like the awkward silence of two strangers stuck together. It was like the silence of two lovers who needed no direct communication, verbal or physical. Just the feeling of being close was enough to bring peace and comfort.
Griffon hovered around or would land on nearby plants and garden furniture to start, or throw his two cents into, conversations. Despite V trying his best to make a good impression, Griffon took joy in messing with his attempts whenever he could and would speak his mind despite you two having just met. He made jokes and comments about sex and breeding, about the future infighting that might occur when everyone in the family wants a piece of you at the same time, and threw insults at every family member and the things you would have to deal with while serving them. It was needlessly harsh at times, but he ended up giving you a lot of valuable information. Plus, he did make you laugh sometimes, which made his chest puff out in pride and endeared you to him a bit.
Shadow followed you closely at first. She sniffed at you and gazed at your tail and ears until she figured out that the familiarity in your scent was due to your species, which was a combination of many species being bred together, having some form of feline/canine genes. The scent you naturally released had some similarities to feline and canine scents, that is what she was smelling. Once she figured that out, she regarded you as an ally similar to her and felt connected to you. Even if you were more humanoid than feline, she still licked at you, rubbed against you, batted at you, and generally showed you favour like you were a fellow large cat.
V and Griffon were both unsure about you meeting Nightmare so soon, even if it had calmed down its blind violent nature into a defensive golem-like state. It was still big, frightening, and would attack any demon it viewed as a threat to its master. Still, Nightmare wiggled and called for release, its power vibrating through V’s body like an engine rearing to go. So, after checking with you to see if you would be okay with it, V cautiously called him out, though was ready on the proverbial trigger to expel him at any second. Nightmare did not speak to you, not uttering any of its rarely made low screech or growl-like noises that came out during battle. It stared at you for a few seconds before raising one of its large arms towards you. It approached you slowly and pressed its hand against you gently, making sure to retract its claws before doing so. For a while Nightmare simply held that position, its hand laying on you, technically not moving but you could feel its hand nubs wriggle and its gooey skin ungulate against you. It felt much like how a starfish on your skin would feel but on a larger scale. Eventually, it lifted its hand off of you, then brought it down, then up, then down, then up, and down one more time. After those slow pats, it dissolved away, seemingly satisfied with what it found out about you through this contact.
The group of 4 all approved of you and, though not all would admit it, were already growing fond of you. Even if V still wanted to focus on finding himself, he wouldn’t mind exploring himself with you.

DMC Questions Anon here!
There are many who if you ask them will say they aren't quite convinced that Sparda's dead. What is your opinion on the matter? If you believe he's alive, what do you think has been going on with him all of these years?
Even you you believe he's dead, let's just hypothetically say he's making his return after DMC 5. How do you think this will go? What do you think he's been doing? How will he react to this new world and all that's happened? Most importantly, how will other characters react to his return?
Oooooo this fun to think about >:)
Sparda - in my opinion - is probably dead. Not that that means much in this franchise. Everyone a d everything returns from the dead at some point, so that happening with Sparda wouldn't surprise me.
He'd probably be shocked by everything that has happened - the Temen-n-gru conversation would be very interesting - but he would probably accept this new reality fairly quickly. Man's been alive for 2,000 years, being gone for forty won't stun him for too long.
Dant and Vergil would have.... a time. An emotional, argumentative, turmoil filled time. But, eventually, everything would work out. Nero would just be happy to have a grandparent. Screw his status, he has a grandpa, that's sick! However, the most interesting person I see reacting to Sparda return is Trish.
Trish would be immediately on the defensive, feeling like she's immediately out of place because she looks like one of the most powerful devils ever's wife. Being Mundus' servant in the past won't help her worries either.
But Sparda? Dude finds out about her creation and subsequent betrayal to Mundus and is like
"Oh, you look like your mother, but you take after me. It's a good thing too, the twins always did take after their mother." And that's the end of that conversation.

DMC Questions Anon here!
"That day, if our positions were switched... Would our fates be different? Would I have your life, and you mine?"
While standing on top of the Qlipoth in DMC 5 Vergil posed a very interesting question that got many people wondering: How would the story of DMC go if Dante and Vergil's positions were switched?
That is what I am asking you now to answer. How does this story go in a world where their positions are switched?
I think I probably already half mentioned my theory on this somewhere, but this is my chance to write it fully.
Soooo... my whole starting point is Vergil being the mommy issues™️ twin and Dante being the daddy issues™️ twin (yeah it sounds silly, I know). So what if Vergil was the one in the house (that Eva hid in the closet) and Dante was the one outside, alone?
note: these are just my ideas and it's ok if you all don't agree or see it differently
I think Vergil's whole "I wanted to be protected and loved" and "my human side is weak" issues wouldn't be there, or at least they would be wayy lighter, as in this scenario Eva actually saves him
What about Dante? I think he would blame his father Sparda for this whole thing happening "If only Sparda were still here he could have protected us..." including their mother. I feel like Dante would understand that Eva was likely being attacked too and killed so it's not like she abandoned him, but Sparda? He disappeared in mysterious circumastances for what we know.
Not only that, but if he didn't have children and a wife at all, he wouldn't have put them in danger. In the mind of an angry child being brutally attacked, he could probably see his father as selfish for doing it.
I think he would become resentful of his father in this scenario, and that would become his "motivation". Motivation for what? I think he would try to close all "bridges" / "doors" between the human and demonic domains, to prevent cases such as his from happening again. A complete separation between the two worlds, no matter the cost.
And Vergil? I'm not sure, as I've been mainly thinking about Dante in this scenario. If I have to comapare him to Dante in the regular dmc universe... I think he would probably take up mercenary work (just like Dante did), but he would be more solitary and closed off, because that's just how he is personality wise. He would also have way more interest in knowledge about demons and Sparda, I can totally see him trying to have spare time to go in libraries and other places where he might gather information.

I have this fic idea so basically, DMC 4 Dante x pregnant wife reader and basically like it’s late at night and there cuddling….. but then the baby kicks for the first time and it’s there reaction to it and then y/n is still in fucking shock that she is carrying the granddaughter of Sparda XD
Hahaha here you go, hope you enjoy!
Excited (DMC4! Dante x Pregnant!Fem!Reader Fluff)
You lay on your living room couch, your head resting on Dante's chest, eyes languidly gazing up at the TV screen as your husband tiredly flicked through the list of movies available to him.
"Man, these all look so boring," He sighed, switching off the TV.
"How about we just cuddle, then?" You suggested, struggling to wrap your arms around him, an inconvenience that could be attributed to your bulging stomach. Dante chuckled and lifted you a little ways so you could reach him easier.
"Sounds good, babe." He pressed a kiss to your cheek and ran his hand over your pregnant stomach, grinning as he felt the warmth within. "Won't be long now...you'll be a mama very soon."
"Can't wait," You chuckled, nuzzling into Dante's chest, "I hope I'm a great mama."
"Oh, you will be," Dante assured you. "I just know it." Suddenly, you felt a soft flutter in your stomach, like a little bubble had risen and popped within.
"Oh," You muttered, sitting upright and holding your stomach. "The baby just kicked."
"No way," Dante exclaimed, leaping up from his seat with a massive smile on his face. "Are you sure?" You nodded.
"Positive. It kicked!" The next two minutes were filled with excited giggles and squealing as Dante and you celebrated the first movements of your precious unborn baby. Once you two had calmed down and resumed your places on the couch, you realized just what the actual crap was going on with you--you were carrying not only yours and Dante's child, but the freaking grandkid of Sparda himself! Your kid would be a goddamn legend! Your mind was reeling with shock, probably because pregnancies tend to make one rather emotional.
"Hey, you alright?" Dante asked, when he caught sight of your awed expression.
"I'm fine," You replied, smiling. "I'm just so excited!" Dante chuckled, ruffling your hair before kissing your forehead again.
"So am I, babe, so am I."

Test Drive, Sparda Family Style
Claudia: Please?
Nero: Nope.
Claudia: Please?!
Nero: Sweetie...
Claudia: I promise I'll clean her afterwards!
Nero: That's nice but the answers is still no.
Claudia: Moooom!
Kyrie: It is nice of you to care about Red Queen so much, but the fact of the matter is it's too much for you.
Claudia stomps her little foot on the ground: Nuh-uh, I can swing a sword just fine!
Nero chuckled: Those are training swords meant for you, so you don't lop an arm off. Sorry Clauds but until you're in middle school you can swing Red Queen around to your hearts content.
The silvernette toddler pouted adorably and stomped off to her bedroom in a huff making sure to slam her door for extra measure for how angry she was. Nero smiled but sighed nonetheless, even he wasn't this...actually no, he was as temperamental as his and Kyrie's little gremlin.
Nero: What am I gonna do with her?
Kyrie: Well, you are training her to carry the family torch, so that's more than enough, and you aren't being too rough on her regiment and lessons either.
Nero leaned back in his seat at the kitchen table: But could i be doing more? What if-
Nero: Thanks babe, let's just hope dinner goes normal for on-
He was silenced with her lips meeting his, a chaste kiss broken for his wife to counter his worries.
"Like I told you, you always know what is right, and what is wrong. Claudia's progress to be a Devil Hunter is one of those right things."
Dante: Hey Mini-Verg! How's it shaking with the wife?
*THUD*
"HEY HEEEEY party people!" screamed the Legendary Devil Hunter himself kicking open the front door of the young couple's abode making Kyrie jump, though surprisingly without a box of pizza in hand. Nero simply thought to himself, "why do I even try...?"
Nero: Great until your mug showed up...
Dante just chortled ruffling his nephew's scruffy head: Why the long face bud? Hell the whole place reeks of tension.
Kyrie: Well, we had a little disagreement with our little angel.
Dante: Little Clauds throw a hissy fit?
Nero: No, just didn't want to listen to the truth, and got upset she could't go beat up some trees.
Dante pursed his lips: Imma go talk to her.
Nero: Dante...
Dante: Relaaax!
Kyrie: And how can we trust you?
Dante: I'm her cool uncle she loves?
Nero/Kyrie: More than Vergil?
Dante: ...really not gonna give me this?
The couple finally conceeded and gave Dante a "knock yourself out" kind of gesture, then off he went to his niece.
---
Wrapped in her blanket like an angry burrito, Claudia lay on her side fuming over her scuffle with her old man. 'What does he know, anyone can swing a sword! I'll show him-' Her mental rant was cut short when a rhythmic knock came from her door.
Dante: Heya squirt, can I mozy on in?
Claudia: Mm...
Dante lets himself in: Now what's this about Red Queen?
Claudia: Stupid dad won't let me play with it...
Dante: Haha, well now your old man ain't stupid that's for sure, but he's right that his weapon is far above your learnin' curve.
The third generation Sparda seemed to deflate more in her cotton haven, until a comforting pat on her head gave her a jolt back to reality making her turn to her second favorite uncle who was pulling out something wrapped in a burlap sack.
Dante: Now, I went through a lot of trouble getting these bad boys back, went through a couple auctions, black markets, and some circles of Hell to find them. I was plannin' on giving these to ya' on your birthday...but I can't stand to see you down in the dumps.
Sitting up, Claudia took the twin wrapped objects in her lap, carefully pulling it off she was greeted by the sight of two round heads with glowing eyes and a mouth, one red and one blue, attached to twin swords with serrated edges.
Dante: Say hello to Agni and Rudra, your first Devil Arm! One throws fire and the other slings wind!
Claudia: These...THESE LOOK AWESOME!!! Mm-*mouth gets covered*
Dante: Shhhh not so loud kid...! Hehe, take good care of them alright? These bad boys fought with me through all of Temen-ne-gru and kicked the butt of Vergil!
Claudia hugged the demonic swords close with a cheeky grin: I promise!
The devil hunter smiled ruffling his nieces hair before turning to leave, until he stopped and pointed at the swords, "No. Talking. Take care Clauds!"
---
Later that night Claudia pulled the Twin Demons out from under her bed, sitting with their heads facing her on her lap once more.
Claudia: Hey, my uncle Dante ain't here no more, you guys can talk...!
Agni/Rudra: ...
Claudia: I promised when I said I'll take good care, so that means I'll treat you guys differently.
Agni: ...is that true?
Rudra: You swear on it?
Claudia almost jumps from their voices: Woah, you guys actually talk...
Agni/Rudra: Indeed, many Devil Arms are capable of speech!
Claudia: That. Is. So fricking cool!
Agni: Cool? Brother, what is "cool?"
Rudra: Well, "cool" means-
Claudia: Yeahyeahyeah, basically means you guys are awesome, so uncle says you guys control fire and wind, if I remember what my science teacher said...wind can make fire stronger?
Rudra: Correct young devil!.
Agni: Strong as we are on our own, together we are a force stronger than nature.
Claudia: ... *smiles deviously* We're going to be the best partners! Oh, and by the way, it's cool if you guys wanna talk with me.
Rudra: Very well!
Agni: As you wish!
[Later that morning...]
Half of the forest behind the house was engulfed in flames, gale force winds blew this way and that, all while the cackling of an eight year old echoes though it all.
Claudia: I AM THE GODDESS OF DESTRUCTION!!!
Kyrie looks at Nero: ...Dante?
Nero: I am going to kill that bastard...
Kyrie: At least she's happy?

Devil May cry au everyone lives traumatized!
So so I wanted to combined two ideas of what if Eva survives and what if Sparda survived..
(We are under the assumption that Virgil is Dante's older brother of 5-8ish years like OG DMC 1 canon Near identical face/ different age )
The tragedy that separated the Sparta family affected each of its members differently.
----------
Eva was a woman of principle, a umbra witch a woman self-taught of the mystic ways of summoning demons with a monster fcking fetish . She got the demon boy she got the skills her life should have been happily ever after.
Then the damn attack occurred. She would admit it herself she wasn't the best mother.( Who let the kid run around with swords, she probably should have sent them to some sort of school instead of individualized education based off of their interests and needs. They probably should have gotten more experience with friends and other people who would care. ) But damn it all did she love her kids. They were her blessed children.
Eva looking through the ashes of the home. She Was not able Not even find her youngest son. Her eldest she feared was already gone dead. Perished cut down for the simple sake of being a hybrid.
Even her husband was gone.
She was all alone. First time in years. This is when she made her vow to hunt down the infernals of hell and eradicate those who sought to eliminate her family and her. Damn the umbra witch code. They were dead order barely surviving off of Madame Jeanne de Arc. She would look at heaven and Earth and hell for her children but she could not find them.
Not until decades later when they didn't even need her.
--------
The devil night Sparta was in mourning. The blaze and the battle had tooken so much from him.
"It's all my fault" he wept, as if the entire event was solely on his shoulders and not those of his enemies.
It's because of my fame, my notoriety and pride that enabled these freaks to have enough leverage to attempt to kill me and my family.
My entire family is eradication
was because of my greed for the limelight. It seems this world is worse f with me in it. "And so the devil Knight takes his self-imposed exile. Not knowing that his wife and children are in need of theirpatriarch.
---+--------
The eldest son was in a different position. He saw the army that his father took against. Then that would ultimately to his father's downfall. If only he had more power more strength he could have fought with his father and protect his family.
All alone, he wished he could have saved his family had he been a little bit stronger.
"I need more power I need to grow in power or else I will be weak and worthless pathetic
I lost my entire family because of that. No more"
____________
And last but the youngest son, he had witnessed his mother in her final moments and her words struck a chord with him
Hls mother said to live a better life, a happy life don't abandon your family heritage, But don't forget to live. Run away if you must, but be safe and live and grow strong to protect yourself and others.
Dante the youngest son would struggle everyday to bribe steel and make not only a new identity to get an education but to live and to grow. Eventually he would grow into a famous demon Hunter.
The devil brothers would meet again in a strange Tower. Their ideology opposed to one another
one for powers for power sake,
The other craved power for protecting oneself and others.
The family would truly meet up and be reunited during
The Qliphoth incident. Sparta could no longer allow such devastation upon the human world. Eva could no longer allow anyone to die of such a ratchet pain.
Dante was hired for this by a strange man named v
Along with his nephew that he has yet to revealed he knew.
Bayonetta and Jeanne also there.
Their with Eva.

you KNOW i'm coming back in with the DMC crew for the bingo card!
hey hello finally answering this a mere two weeks late lmao
Tumblr media
DANTE
okay so wayyyy back in the day when I first got into DMC I was admittedly far more interested in Vergil (look it was the mid-2000s and he was a cold-hearted bad boy, what do you want me to say) BUT over the years my Dante appreciation has grown exponentially
I am sobbing wailing screaming etc. I just want him to be happy. I want him to acknowledge his found family. I want Nero to drag him to Fortuna for a family dinner and have Kyrie make him eat a real meal. I want Dante to take Nero back to Redgrave to visit Eva's grave and tell him about both Eva and Sparda - the people, the parents, not the legend and his sweet wife
(I have. a lot. of Eva feelings. we'll get to that later.)
Tumblr media
VERGIL
BINGO. God I just I can't I can't sum up my Vergil feelings just like Vergil cannot acknowledge his own feelings because his entire life had been so wrapped up in the scant hard cold comfort of unbending pride because if you don't admit you're hurting, that's almost as good as not hurting in the first place, and he's a DEMON okay, he's a DEMON, a DEVIL, not some weak flimsy human!!!! A DEMON!!! He's a big tough strong cunning evil powerful monster!!!!
Vergil is an open wound that has been festering for decades, a body and soul stretched literally to breaking point by cruelties beyond imagining. He's been a slave, a torture victim, his mind and decisions taken from him to be a meat puppet for his father's greatest enemy, cursed by the blood of Sparda so fully and thoroughly that the only way he can deal with it is to pretend it's the human in him that's cursed. Because he can never pretend he isn't part-devil, but maybe he can quash the humanity in him and pretend he's all devil.
How far is Vergil responsible and/or culpable for his crimes? What are his crimes? How many (if any) died when he raised Temen-ni-Gru? Were those deaths forgivable in pursuit of a greater good, or was it entirely selfish? Did Vergil feel the weight of Sparda's unfulfilled promise fall on his shoulders and this way the only way he could avoid buckling under the expectations of his bloodline?
And what about the Qliopoth? Did he cause it to sprout in Redgrave, or did he just take advantage of it? Can Vergil the person be held responsible for what his demonic half did after the separation? If so, is that balanced out by the heroic actions of V as his humanity?
I just!!!!!! god. I love him so much. I want to wrap him in the softest blanket and kiss his forehead like the world's angriest little kitten. I want to send him to therapy so badly. I want him to come back for DMC 6 on the good guys team but wearing a Bad Man shirt.
Tumblr media
(come on I can't be the only one who sees the resemblance)
Tumblr media
EVA
"but beth, eva was only in the game for like five seconds before she got ganked--"
shhh. shhhhhhhh. that's the only part of DMC 5 that will never be canon in my heart.
okay so many many moons ago I read an amazing Eva origin story called Rapture on ff.net and forever after it informed my headcanons about Eva - to whit, she was a devil hunter, had overcome tragedy in her past, and was every bit fierce and furious enough to go toe-to-toe with the Devil Knight Sparda
so you will never get me to believe that Eva did not go down all guns blazing, fighting to the last drop of blood in her veins and the last gasp of breath in her lungs to protect her boys
even if you don't subscribe to that theory, you can't get away from the fact that Eva must have been a truly spectacular individual to attract Sparda's attention - especially since we've never had any indication that Sparda had any other lovers, or at least never had any children with them - and I just can't make myself believe it was all down to ~sweetness~ or ~purity~ or ~beauty~
Tumblr media
my Eva grew up in rural Appalachia; grew up hunting, shooting, riding, and idolising her older brother in all of his dyed-black-hair, poetry-loving, stick-and-poke tattooed, skinny goth glory
(because, after all, it only makes sense that Vergil's humanity drew upon his human roots for form and face and so many other things that Vergil never really let himself acknowledge)
and life is good, right up until the day demons attack their homestead and Eva is the only one who gets out alive -- because her beloved older brother throws her on a horse and stays behind to shoot down the horde until he goes down
I don't wanna just stuff ten thousand words about my hc Eva backstory into this meme lmao but suffice to say she's tough as nails, a tightly-coiled spring trap of badly-suppressed trauma, conflating isolationism with strength and guilt with duty. When asked why she takes up devil hunting, she will only say -- if not me, then who? When she first hears of Sparda, she thinks he's a fairytale; then, later, she's willing to believe he was once real, but has long since faded into history... and, anyway, shouldn't it be down to humans to protect themselves rather than always relying on the benediction, the protection, of a higher power?
because Eva's family were good, stern Methodist folk, and God didn't stop the demons coming. Sparda? Eva has no faith in Sparda.
and when she relocates to Redgrave City and figures out there's a powerful demon stalking the streets of the city?
she'll damn well take care of it herself-
